Good? We good coaches. I want to know, I do.
Speaker 3 (00:13):
I want to know which one of these college jobs
are trying to get you.
Speaker 1 (00:21):
Laugh.
Speaker 2 (00:21):
I want to know, too, is it I ain't interested
in all that crap.
Speaker 1 (00:28):
Coach, One contract you gotta do.
Speaker 4 (00:31):
Sign one contract, coach, They've got it made for the
rest of these days.
Speaker 1 (00:37):
Go ahead and say you ain't coming with that, coach.
Speaker 2 (00:40):
Yo, sir, No, sir. We got an off week this week,
and I'm just enjoying this off week and hanging out
with these guys out here practice.
Speaker 1 (00:49):
There you go, What y'all doing this morning?
Speaker 3 (00:52):
Oh?
Speaker 2 (00:52):
What practice this morning?
Speaker 3 (00:54):
Are you?
Speaker 1 (00:55):
What kind of practice you have on Wednesday morning?
Speaker 2 (00:58):
Well, Wednesday morning, it's a lot of team stuff. So
we service each other. It's like our second defense service
our first offense. Offense to service our first defense. Uh,
we sort of give them a look at what, you know,
what the other team we're playing against gonna be running
and stuff like that. So do our special teams on
(01:19):
Wednesday morning, So do all our two minute drill stuff,
all our into the game stuff. You know, we get
a lot done on Wednesday morning.
Speaker 1 (01:28):
Okay, okay, is it full physical practice or just.
Speaker 2 (01:32):
You know, yeah, we're not really killing each other. We're
helmet shutter paths kind of shells.
Speaker 3 (01:38):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (01:39):
But you know, just a lot of time and stuff.
It's a lot of fits, a lot of skill development,
you know, just if it's a you know, Wednesday mornings,
you know, one of our most productive days.
Speaker 1 (01:51):
Okay, that's interesting, that's good. How long will you keep
them out there?
Speaker 2 (01:54):
Because Wednesday sort of of a mix of what we've
went over Monday and Tuesday. Sort of collaborate everything together
and let them see the whole picture, you know.
Speaker 1 (02:05):
Okay, all right, well you got the number two C
took care of business.
Speaker 3 (02:09):
Man.
Speaker 1 (02:09):
Let me tell you something.
Speaker 4 (02:10):
You really had a good second half last week thirty nine,
twenty six, and you had to put one of your
reserve quarterbacks in to get the W did you coach
when you.
Speaker 2 (02:18):
Go, yeah, yeah, JD JD. Pate came in. Did a
heck of a job, man, I mean the tenth grader
and y'all probably y'all noticed that last name. You know,
it was Rob Pate's son. You know, Rob's got twin boys,
and both of them are really good athletes in that
tenth grade groupe. One of them a receiver, one of
them was the quarterback. So and JD stepped in and
(02:40):
did a fantastic job that I think he finished with
right up right around one hundred and eighty yards passed.
Speaker 1 (02:46):
Good for him.
Speaker 2 (02:48):
He had about four or fifty yards Russian had a
touchdown Russian, you know, and it was really really efficient
for us.
Speaker 3 (02:55):
You know.
Speaker 2 (02:56):
So defense played great the other night in the second half,
you know, so I think that, Uh, I think, you know,
last week, and we made some plays the first half.
You know, we made some really good plays the first half.
So you know, we just got it. Did They got
an unbelievable they're running back? It is good? Hey, j
A J. Alexander he is special. You know, he's a
(03:18):
really good player.
Speaker 1 (03:19):
All right, tell me this now, when did he When
did when did he go into the game? When did
Pate come in? Uh?
Speaker 3 (03:25):
Peate came in?
Speaker 2 (03:27):
Uh? I think right at the second four.
Speaker 1 (03:29):
I didn't know that, Okay, Okay.
Speaker 2 (03:32):
Yeah, And uh the thing is, uh Cason had one
hundred and forty yards passing.
Speaker 1 (03:40):
Well, I did see that. I thought he played more
than a half. That's real when you said.
Speaker 2 (03:46):
Wow, and he and he got he got demed up
on his first run early in the game. Uh landed
landing on his hip and you know sort of pinks
that sidic nerve and it sort of you know, went
down his leg and you know, he could have probably
played the second half and he could have played probably, Uh,
but we just we we didn't want to. We didn't
(04:07):
want to risk anything. You know, we just pulled him
out to be safe because you know, we had to
to see. You know, of course you want to win
the game, but you don't want to get anybody hurt
going into the playoff, especially starting quarterback.
Speaker 4 (04:18):
No, I agree with that. That shows well that you
got too ready to go now and he's been in
the fire. But your team played well the second half,
didn't they, coach, Not that they didn't play well the
first half, but.
Speaker 2 (04:30):
Yeah, yeah, I'm telling you that those inteed's good. I mean,
they got to their offense is so hard to stop,
you know, Uh, they do, they do some good stuff.
And I thought that defensively, you know, uh, we did
a really good job maxing some adjustice at half time.
You know, Coach goes the nuts guy make it just
(04:50):
kind of shutting them down the second half.
Speaker 1 (04:52):
There you go.
Speaker 4 (04:53):
Anybody want to bring up defensively coached and played well
for you individually.
Speaker 2 (04:57):
Oh, we had a bunch of guys defensively, you know
you had uh, of course, you know the normal guys
you aid and you got Greg Gampston, Alex Gampston had
a really good game. All the guys up front played
really good.
Speaker 1 (05:13):
You know.
Speaker 2 (05:14):
You know you got guy you got unsung heroes like
Brennon Barber. You know, guys they just greedy. They're greedy man.
They get it man, scrap and fight and you know
they just do all the little things right. So really
proud of the front guys. Uh, Cornell Jackson got a touchdown,
the big defensive lineman. We put him in at full
(05:35):
back and he rumbled one from three and a half
yards out.
Speaker 1 (05:39):
That's awesome. Did you give me the barmble?
Speaker 2 (05:42):
Oh no, we handed it to him, okay, And you
know he was going in. A guy had a chance
to try to make the tackle, and I think that
guy made a business decision sort of moved out of
the way about that three and thirty five pounds. So
you lot of times you don't want.
Speaker 1 (05:57):
To set run of it. Huh. Yeah, well I'm glad
to hear that. I'm glad to hear that. All right,
here you are open week.
Speaker 4 (06:06):
By the way, excellent eight and two years in my opinion,
one of your best jobs to coach. And don't mean
that disrespectful at all.
Speaker 2 (06:13):
I think I appreciate that.
Speaker 1 (06:14):
I really know.
Speaker 2 (06:15):
I think that, Yeah, we have we have a young
team and you know, uh, a lot of moving parts,
and you know, I think that our guys have grown
a lot over the year. You know, hopefully we come
out and play our best game next Friday. You know,
but I'm really proud of these guys. We have had
a great year. I'm just proud of that. You know,
their attitudes and how hard they've worked, and you know,
(06:38):
it's been a it's been a it's been a fun year.
It's true, all right.
Speaker 4 (06:41):
So tell me where you are right now here? We
like you said, you got you're in the playoffs. Your host,
you got best Davy Hills next Friday. It's this team.
You saw it kind of shocks. You've got a w
against you. What do you coach Wilson to go go?
Speaker 3 (06:55):
I'll bet you I don't know who the best Davy
Hills coach is from anyone. Well, but I'll bet you
he'd rather play anybody in this state. He had come
all the way.
Speaker 1 (07:05):
I agree with.
Speaker 2 (07:06):
That, but well I hope that's true.
Speaker 1 (07:09):
But that's why I wanted to ask you, what do
you do?
Speaker 2 (07:11):
Does a really good job? You know what do you say?
Speaker 1 (07:15):
No, you're right, go ahead. That's where I wanted you
to take it. So go ahead, take us through.
Speaker 2 (07:18):
Say you know best, David does an unbelievable job. You know,
Robert is one of the best coaches in the business.
You know, you got a lot of respect for their
program and how he does things. You know, you don't
you don't come ready to play, they will, they will
put it on you know, and they you know that happens,
(07:38):
that happens. Takeond game this year. Yeah, we came in,
was not ready to play, you know. And they've got
a really good football team. You know, people talk about
them and say, oh, they don't have a lot of
great athletes. Yeah they do.
Speaker 4 (07:52):
Their coach plays off that a good bit too.
Speaker 1 (07:55):
He likes to. Yeah, he plays that game a little bit.
You know.
Speaker 2 (08:00):
Yeah, they but you know, if you go in with
the underdog mentality all the time. You know your kids,
your kids play really hard, you know, yeah, and they
use that to their manage and they should.
Speaker 1 (08:11):
You know, good point.
Speaker 2 (08:13):
You know, we play somebody super athletic, we're gonna we're
gonna come in that that underdog mentality too, and our kids.
It makes your kids play offs.
Speaker 1 (08:21):
Yeah, right.
Speaker 2 (08:22):
So the football team, Yeah, they've got great steevers. Their
running backs are really good, their quarterbacks are really good.
They're good up front. You know, you can't watch them
and say, Okay, this kid's really this kid ain't real good.
We're gonna pick on him.
Speaker 3 (08:38):
You know.
Speaker 2 (08:38):
There's not a lot of those guys out there on
the fielding. So it's just they do a really good
job coaching them too.
Speaker 1 (08:45):
I sit here and I want to ask, Okay, so
you played them first and you're lost, but you could
easily have played them and beat them.
Speaker 4 (08:51):
What you know, does it matter what's the first game?
In your opinion, does it matter at all? They've gotten better, bag,
you've gotten better?
Speaker 2 (08:58):
Yeah? Yeah, the thought on that first game, Yeah, coach
and them tell you once you get the playoffs, it's
the whole new season. But do you throw the you
throw the records out the wind.
Speaker 1 (09:09):
Yeah, you know, you're just.
Speaker 2 (09:10):
Playing to advance. You want to win. You know, you're
just playing to win. You take at this point, I'll
take four one point wins.
Speaker 1 (09:18):
Okay, there you go. No, you're right, that's all. You
got to have four w's when you.
Speaker 2 (09:21):
Win, that's right. I'll take four to one point wins
and you know, and we'll we'll get our ring sizes
and have a little fun.
Speaker 4 (09:31):
Yeah, well, you know what, that's all that matters. I
like that to get your team healthier one hundred percent
by playoffs?
Speaker 1 (09:37):
Are you closed? Can you be? Can you be that way?
Speaker 2 (09:39):
I think I think I think we are. You know, okay,
we're you know, we got the off week at the
right time. You know. Sometimes you know, a lot of
times you like to have a week five sometimes, you
know so, but but I think this year, this is
this is perfect for us. You know, we've got to
get we've got to get healthy right now, and I
think we can. We don't have nothing to that's uh,
(10:01):
season ending. All the all the season ending stuff is
the stuff that we've already that we've already we already
know is season ending. We haven't had anything needed there lately.
Speaker 1 (10:13):
So that's that's in this world that we live in
game of football. That's important, coach, and that's good.
Speaker 2 (10:19):
And two with with how we you know, the end
of the year, with how our schedule, so you know,
our schedule is pretty brutal at end of the year.
So how we came out of it is is pretty good.
Speaker 3 (10:30):
You know.
Speaker 2 (10:30):
I think we're in pretty good shape.
Speaker 1 (10:33):
Good deal, all right, So the rest of the weekend
next week, how do you prepare? What do you do?
Speaker 2 (10:37):
Well, we'll we'll get well, we'll practice in the morning
on Thursday, and then in first pier we'll we'll come
out and do some things and then I'll give them
all Friday. Then we come back in Sunday and it's
like a just like a regular week, just like then seasons.
Speaker 1 (10:53):
Yeah, I thought that's what your kids like playing playing
them again.
Speaker 2 (10:58):
Oh yeah, they're excited.
Speaker 1 (11:00):
Good good deal now.
Speaker 2 (11:03):
And I told them, you know, don't expect the same stuff,
expect the same intensity because they played with a lot
of intentions last time they played us. Yeah, they were,
they were, they were in the in the in the
business for us. Get back from last year too, because
we got on them last year. We went over there
and they got on us this year. So you know
this is going to be a half off the football game.
Speaker 1 (11:23):
I think, Friday coach Coach Barfield, you laughing. You see
the recipe for a good one though, Yeah, I really do.
Speaker 3 (11:29):
I hope.
Speaker 1 (11:31):
I'm sure they will be ready. Those your players were
probably excited about that. Your mama still doing well.
Speaker 2 (11:40):
She's doing great. I appreciate you asking. She's already out
on them roads, running them roads already.
Speaker 1 (11:46):
All right, but we'll see you tonight at Moves. Thank
you very much, Yes, sir, all right, thank you all. Guys,
Go Tigers,
