Tigers finished eight and two, Jeff, that is an incredible run.
They finished number two in the region. They had an
open week last week. They got best Davia Heels coming
to Duck Central Stadium Friday night. The head coach is

Good morning, gentlemen. How are y'all doing?

Speaker 1 (00:25):
We're doing good, coach, were good? Man. I hope everything
and gets better for you and you get everything's good,
you know what I mean?

Speaker 2 (00:32):
So absolutely absolutely we'll get there. We're gonna get there.

Speaker 1 (00:36):
Now you go, he does. And you know what, we
can't worry me and you can. We know that. So
we're gonna do it. But we can't. It don't help none,
you know what I mean? Absolutely all right, you enjoy
the week off your players, they enjoy that week off.

Yeah, we were able to get some guys hopefully healed up,
you know, get them at least ready to where they
tried to play in these playoff Awesome, see what we
can do from there.

Twenty years a head coach and twenty years ahead coaching?

Yeah, never lost by you like playing a team twice,
even if you win them.

Speaker 2 (01:25):
Beat them, you know, you know it's if if I
if I if I lost most time, yeah, because you
want to try to make you want to try to
ride it wrong. If I if I won, probably know.

Speaker 1 (01:39):
I tend to would probably think. I feel the same
way with Jeff. You. Oh yeah, I never liked playing
the same team twice. I mean, yeah, it am fun,
you know, and I've seen it it. Yeah, we saw
it three times in one season. But I kind of
think it's like you, coach, I kind of think that
if you lose, you say, okay, we got a revenge factor,
and they're thinking that if you win, you got to pressure.

We've already beat it one time. Yeah, it's hard to
beat the team twice hard.

Speaker 2 (02:05):
Yeah, And when you when you have when you you know,
when you there's such a good team, you know, it's uh,
you know, it makes it really come really cuse you
want to want to make sure that you that you
crossed the t's and dot the eyes and do all
the little things right that you didn't do the first time.
And you know, but you know there's a reason they

beat it's four two fourteen.

Yeah. But you know what, coach I marking out with
talking about that, I said, you know what a big
difference is, you're playing at the playing at the duck. Coach,
that's big.

Speaker 2 (02:38):
That's gonna I think that's gonna help. I think it's
gonna help. I'm not you know, I'm not saying that's
gonna make up.

Speaker 1 (02:44):
I understand a.

Speaker 2 (02:45):
Twenty eight point difference, but you know, I think it's
gonna help. I think that we got to come in
and do the little things right. You know. I think
that we didn't do a lot of the little things
right last time. And I think the Staby has gotten
better since then too, and we have to. So it's
going to be interesting to see.

I think that I just you know, glad to be
in the playoffs. You know, I think, you know, I've
been head coach twenty years and I've been able to
be in these things twenty of the twenty years. So
that's all been a blessing. You know, it's always a blessing.
You get to spend extra time with these kids and
tell I tell my kids every year. You know, I
don't want I love winning. I don't want to win

just advance. I want to win because it gives me
an extra week for the cap.

Speaker 1 (03:28):
Yeah, yeah, that's great call, Keith. For this Auburn I
had football coach. They got best Davy Hills coming to
the duck A two and a three seed, which is
very close to similar to each other. They played each
other early in the season. Best Tavia one couse, what
do you got to do this week? The difference start better?

Speaker 2 (03:46):
Well, yeah, we got to start better. They jumped out
on us really really quick last time. We can't. We
can't allow them to get out to that big of
a you know, they jumped out of it on us
twenty eight nothing, you know, so they've gone on us
really fat. We can't allow that to happen, you know,
we gotta we got to. You know, no pre snap

penalties can't give them, can't give them five yards, jumping
off side, can't give them. You know, those little things,
you know, can't turn the ball over. We turned over
four times last time playing. You can't do that. They've
got a really, really good football team and Robert does
a really good job with those guys. I mean, he's
one of the best coaches in the state. I think,

you know, and people underestimate their athletes. You know, they've
got really good athletes. Their quarterbacks as good as you
want to see. You know, they've got receivers as good
as you want to see. Defensively, they fly around the football.
Their schemes are really good. So, you know, I think
that we've got to, you know, our work cut out. Look,

they're not the number two team in the state for nothing.
They're the number three team in their regions. They're the
number two team ranked in the state. And I think,
you know, I think that' I think we need to
make some changes with the playoffs. I really do.

Speaker 1 (05:04):
I mean, there's no need to do.

Speaker 2 (05:06):
I don't think there's there should be any reason, like
the number two team and the number four team should
play in the first round of the playoffs. That shouldn't happen.
The number two team in the state and the number
four team in the states shouldn't play in the Oh oh.

Speaker 1 (05:20):
I got you, Okay? Each other.

Speaker 2 (05:23):
Yeah, yeah, and I think it. You know, I think
there was changes made because of some people wanted, you know,
they didn't have opportunities to have home playoff games. Yeah,
that's yeah. It's made to get the best two teams
in the championship game. And you know, I mean last year,

take for example, I mean it was US and Thompson
play in the second round, you know, and we were two.

Speaker 1 (05:49):
Of the top top team you were you were.

Speaker 2 (05:52):
I thought we were two of the best teams. I
did too, uh, And you know, I think it was
US then Central. You know, I think that you know,
to have to play first or second round games like that,
and I ain't understand second round you I mean, you can't.
Sometimes you can't avoid to avoid two top four teams
playing in the first round, so one guy one is

gonna be gone, you know. So that's tough to that's
tough to swallow sometimes.

You know, I don't know how you get it.

And the thing is, even if we win, you know,
I feel horrible for let's take you because the year
they've had and all they've done, you know. So you know,
and I truly believe that, you know, if it's as
I think they've got to do something as far as
some time of ranking system and stuff, you know, and

I think there's some people working on some stuff, you know,
and hopefully you know, that can get done. I would
like to see seven a go to five playoff runch.

Speaker 1 (06:56):
Championship, but you know, I think it would be good.

Speaker 2 (06:58):
But you could do you could do by you know,
first round things that were that were that were you know,
that win the region or runner ups in the region.
You know, you could add.

Speaker 1 (07:08):
More teams coach the playoffs.

Speaker 2 (07:09):
That's what you're doing, Yeah, add more teams to the playoffs,
because I'm telling you there's six teams in our region
that our playoff team.

Speaker 1 (07:19):
The playoff team.

I agree with that, definitely a playoff team. Yeah, they're
one of the teams that that's left out, you know.
So I mean and you take for example, I mean, listen,
I mean, we lose, we lose, uh, we lose the
Carver game, and we could be sitting out.

Speaker 1 (07:39):
I know, I know you talked about that one night,
the scenario where you could have been sitting on with
a couple of.

Speaker 2 (07:47):
And you said, and you told me you thought it
was the best year I've had.

Speaker 1 (07:50):
I know, coaching. Yeah, I think we've.

Speaker 2 (07:52):
Done I think we've done a great to Our coaching
staff has done a great job this year, and I
think that, Uh and and to be sitting there, uh
playing having to win to make sure that you.

Speaker 1 (08:05):
Know, it's tough, it really is. It is as your
kids handled everything, coach that they've been practicing.

Speaker 2 (08:12):
Good, We've had We've had a great week practice week,
we had a great week last week. You know, the
off week was good. So I think it's it's been great.
You know, I've I've really enjoyed this week with these kids.
It's been it's been fun. Like the last four weeks

(08:33):
have been have been awesome. You know, we've had some
we've had some awesome camaraderie. We've had great you know practices.
You know this this end of the year run right here.
Every since you know, we played really good in the
Moody game, the Central game. We didn't play great offensive,
but defensively. I thought we played really good in the
Central game but all defense and basket spot a couple

times offensive. But ever since then, we have had you know,
great weeks practice and just the kids have really really
been getting after.

Speaker 1 (09:02):
Are Yeah, Well that's good. Injuries, coach, where are you high?
Is that things?

Speaker 2 (09:07):
Uh? Yeah, some you know, we got we got some
that probably won't be able to do anything. But then
we I think I think we're as good as we
can be at this point of the year. You know,
we got some coming off some injuries that are that
are healing up pretty good that we're gonna get some
We'll get some good looks. So I think that, uh,

hopefully we'll be we'll be ready to row.

Okay, what you gotta do this time? And when you

Fast and you know, just not turn to follow over,
take good football, make you know, block, tackle, you know
all the little things they do. They do all the
little things right, So we gotta we gotta follow stud
and do.

Yeah, we're getting after it. We got a two minute
