good player, Unius Forest whose offensive lineman? About really good player?

Speaker 3 (00:30):
All right, well, congratulations, coach was going on this morning.

Speaker 2 (00:34):
That a little practice, But.

Speaker 3 (00:36):
I figured that's what I figured.

Speaker 4 (00:38):
Yeuhil, we get to play recognition on defense, get some
uh some polish stuff on offense.

Speaker 3 (00:50):
Coach, Congratulations on the win. I tell you privately, I'll
tell you on the air, what a football game Friday night. Wow,
beautiful setting, incredible atmosphere, the whole all nine yards. Give
me your thoughts, what coach, coach?

Speaker 2 (01:08):
Yeah, I couldn't hear.

Speaker 3 (01:09):
We're I think we got a back.

Speaker 2 (01:10):
In hold on.

Speaker 3 (01:12):
Okay, all right, we're talking with coach Keith ethrig Urburn
High football coach. Is that again?

Speaker 1 (01:18):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (01:18):
A whole lot better? There you go?

Speaker 2 (01:20):
Awesome. Well, you know, I'm just saying it always is
a great atmosphere and a great football game all or
and over like a play. You know, it's It's one
of the best rivalries you know, I've ever been a
part of.

Speaker 1 (01:32):
Coach.

Speaker 3 (01:33):
It was, uh, it was a nail bier.

Speaker 1 (01:35):
I mean, it was back and forth.

Speaker 2 (01:37):
It was I was.

Speaker 3 (01:38):
Surprised at both of you guys had a heck of
a running attack, and I was just kind of shocked at,
I will both of y'all ran the ball. Coach a
good running back.

Speaker 2 (01:49):
But oh yeah, yeah, Well I knew they were going
to We knew coming in that they had they were,
you know, good and physical up front, and they had
two really good running backs. And you know, you know,
it's like, you know, trying to trying to stop them,
trying to stop them when they got them big boys
up front and got good backs. You know, it's like
trying to climb a cactus. You know, you got it

(02:11):
makes it tough, makes it really tough, you know. But
they and and they've done a great job. You know,
Brian's done a great job over there the short time
he's been there. They're gonna they're gonna get better and batter,
I think, and uh, you know I think that uh,
you know, they've got the tools, they've got the they've
got the players, and there's always athletes that Black always

(02:33):
you know, they've always got great players, you know, and
I think that, uh, it's it's one of them things
where it's a great rivalry. It's a it's always a
great game. You know, it don't matter what the records
are of both teams, but you know both teams coming
in there too. And oh and you know a lot
of heights of the game, and it lived up to
the height. You know, we going in this is gonna

(02:56):
be a nailbody. We're gonna have to make some plays
down the stress if we expect to win that game.
You know, every year you do. And you know we
were able to make a couple down the stretch.

Speaker 3 (03:06):
You're exactly right. Auburn football coach Keith Ethridge on the
Marcus football team is undefeated? Is it now three and oh? Coach?
Is it three one and oh? In the region where
they twenty eight twenty one win over Placa? Every time
Opaca answered, Your guys answered, coach, that was the key quickly.

Speaker 2 (03:24):
Yeah, And I think I think in a game like that,
you have to Yeah, I think that you know, Oba,
like I went down scored, you know, we come right back,
you know, hit the long ball to uh to Josh
and Josh ask he makes a great play, great throw
by by Jacks and Kilvoy. Josh makes a great play.

(03:46):
And you know, and the and the thing is, you
know you you don't see this, you know, you know,
and this is this is the type of game that's his.
The kid from over like a hustle down and pushes
them out onto yadline. You know, those little things make
a big different because then we have to spend two
more plays to get me Enson. You never know what

(04:07):
happened in those plays, but those those little things like that,
the hustle of that kid, as you know, I mean
it was the guy was you know, six inches from
knocking that from knocking that ball down. You're right, coach,
And it was a great call ball office coordinator Will Wagon.
And after they made a big play, we're gonna go.

(04:28):
We're gonna go for the big play to get right back,
get right back in it, you know, instead of trying
to turn it out. You know. Uh, and you know,
I think that it paid off for us.

Speaker 3 (04:39):
You know that, coach, you just made a good poppy
right there at then that's a good I thought about that.
I was standing at that I was on your sideline
at that point. Yeah, and oh Blacka was rolling and
I love too. I can't your boy. Smiley was standing
next to me and my daughter and I said, this
is a big series smiling, he goes, who yeh, And
I thought, I mean normally, guys, I'm looking at two coaches.

(05:02):
You just come out and you grind it.

Speaker 2 (05:03):
You're right about that.

Speaker 3 (05:05):
And what if you come out you run up op
like and stops you for no loss, that's even that
much more more.

Speaker 2 (05:10):
You know, absolutely get it back right there. You try
to get it back right there. And uh, I think
that's a great call by coach Wagon, and our kids executed.
Jackson had good time on the on the to throw
that ball, and you know, I think that offensive line
played really good Friday night. You know, we we got

(05:31):
some stops when we needed them, you know, over like
to make some huge plays, you know, so and then
a game like like that, you know, that's that's what
it comes down to. You know, who's got the ball last,
who's gonna make He's gonna make plays right there at
the end, and uh we got the tip ball and
got the interception, and you know, it was just one

(05:51):
of those things where uh, our guy made a play.

Speaker 1 (05:54):
Right there at then what were you thinking when you
scored your last touchdown?

Speaker 2 (05:57):
Coach?

Speaker 1 (05:57):
And he left so much time? That's playing time to
run it. If you get a drive, I mean you
could drive down just running the football.

Speaker 4 (06:05):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (06:06):
Yeah, and that's what we said that I wish we've
took a little more time. But you know in that
game you got to store wing score. But no, absolutely not.
But you know you are sitting there thinking, boy, there's
a lot of time on the blot, you know.

Speaker 3 (06:21):
But coach, in a minute, a lot of time in
that game. You tell me, yes, what it.

Speaker 2 (06:26):
Is it is, especially when you've got time outs and stuff.
I think it is and you're you know, a lot
of times you make play calls, uh, taking you know,
two or three plays down the line. You know in
games like that, you know, uh, so you know there
there's there's uh, there's a lot of a lot of

(06:49):
tactical parts of it, you know, thinking down the line.
But but also you got to think, hey, if it's
if it's started down, you got to call you first half.

Speaker 3 (06:59):
Yeah, we're talking with Auburn coach Keith Etherge. Excuse me,
he's on our Hamilton's Hotline. Hamilton's has two locations in
Auburn on Bagnola and Odal Tree on the Mark on
Fox Sports nine ten thirteen. The game each Monday through
each weekday, Monday through Friday, six to nine. Coach Joe Wilson,
Coach Doug Barfield, Jeffrey Craig in the orth p D
Clinton Studio, coaches on the Auburn High practice field. Our

(07:20):
coaches shows tonight from most Barbecue. Coach will be there.
We'll be there from six to eight on the Kicker Coach.
I want to say this as a as a guy
who's been in this community his whole life and had
broadcast thirty seven of those football games on the radio
and went through Plaika and think a lot of you
and both cities mayors and got friends everywhere. I was
really proud of how everybody acted Friday night. Man, that's

(07:42):
awesome and I mean that the right way. Coach, you
know that. Yeah, I told the coach boards Saturday morning
about that.

Speaker 2 (07:48):
So yeah, Yeah, I've been a part of the game
for four years and you know, I think the people
have been great. You know, there haven't been any that
many instances were where there's there's been any unsports and
like stuff going on in the field. You know, our kids,
our kids, Yeah, they compete against each other hard, and
they may be a little a little pushing and shoving

(08:10):
and stuff like that. But I can't remember any personal
fouls in this game in the last four years where
kids got out of control or anything. It's just it's
awesome to see kids compete and do it the right way.
And you know, and coaches in the game you know
that that of course want to win. But the bottom
line is, you know, we're teaching our kids. You know, hey,

(08:32):
look this is this is about a game. You know,
real life is you know, is what's important, and you know,
we want to win. But when that game's over with
that horn sound, we're still all you know, we're still
all brothers in price and we're we're on the same team.
After that, you know, it.

Speaker 3 (08:50):
Shows, Coach, it shows, and it means a lot to
do that. These two men were shaking their head. You guys,
you agree, don't you. Coach. I can remember against Paul
and we played it felt a little league. Paul were
all in high back then. That was across the police station.
Coach Ethigewn the road coach Barfield, you've been a part

(09:12):
of this rune. Oh yeah, it was your boy played
it all.

Speaker 2 (09:17):
It was good.

Speaker 3 (09:18):
Yeah, you know. So coach, you've got to get your
team back on the road and back and roll and god,
you gotta forget it.

Speaker 2 (09:27):
Look we leave our black go in and broud the like,
oh my.

Speaker 3 (09:30):
God, forget over like it. You got another jugger, not buddy.

Speaker 4 (09:33):
Yeah, we do, we do.

Speaker 2 (09:35):
And it's it's you know, another you gotta go down
there and play, and you know it's gonna be a
houtome environment and it's gonna be you know, it's gonna
be good for our kids though. I think it's it's
one of them playoff type environments, you know, So it's
gonna be great part kids. I think that, uh, I think,
you know, I think we've got a really good team.
I think that we have some we have a big

(09:55):
opportunity to here.

Speaker 4 (09:56):
You know, it's gonna be a game.

Speaker 2 (09:58):
That's that's uh, let's look at across the state.

Speaker 4 (10:02):
You know.

Speaker 2 (10:03):
I think it's one of the biggest games in the
states to I mean, right now, I was.

Speaker 3 (10:07):
Thinking every win in the region is going to count.
I know that sounds cliche, but.

Speaker 2 (10:13):
Oh gosh, that region is brutal.

Speaker 3 (10:15):
Oh my gosh, coach, you already got one that you know,
I mean, yeah, you could eat You know what I'm
trying to say, this is another very and and the
way Carver's playing, all of a sudden, it looks like
they're going to be in the mix.

Speaker 2 (10:26):
And look, six of the eight teams in our region
a playoff teams. You know right now, if you look
at right now and you know the other two still
still here to set.

Speaker 3 (10:39):
You know that could play.

Speaker 2 (10:41):
That's right, that's right. But you got you got us,
You've got Opalaika, you got Enterprise, you got Central Phoenix,
you got Dothing and and you have car Those are
six teams that haven't been you know that that are
really really good this year. You know, there's gonna be

(11:01):
two playoff teams that should be in the playoffs that
are left out, that are not in it, you know,
because of how tough our reason is. So you know
you hate that too, because you know, I really do
think that our region is the top of the you know,
it makes it makes it makes it hard. You got
to prepare everything, but Bud, it gets you battle tested,

(11:23):
It gets you ready for the playoffs too.

Speaker 3 (11:25):
Yeah, you are right about that. It does. How do
you get your team off that cloud to play in
their rival where everybody's been, you know, it's rightfully so
talking about it now, you've got to get on the
bus ride two and a half hours or two hours
to go play a very very good enterprise team in
a very tough setting kind of like where.

Speaker 2 (11:43):
You just get that's a tough place to play. Oh yeah,
it's really tough place to play. But we talk about
it all the time, not getting too high and not
getting too low, making sure we stay even kill, making
sure that you know we are we are focused, you know,
And it's it's something that you have to you have
to prepare for. You know, you got to prepare when
you have a schedule like this, you have to prepare

(12:03):
every single week for who you're playing that week. You know,
we talked about playing nameless, faceless opponents every single week
and getting our kids ready for the next game, you know,
not looking ahead, not not overlooking anybody, getting ready every
single week.

Speaker 3 (12:19):
That's what you got to do. Are you healthy? Coaches?
Your team? Okay, after the game.

Speaker 2 (12:23):
About as about as bout as good as you can
be after a real physical football game we play doesn't night.
I think we're about as good as we be. We've
got some guys that are you know, uh have a
little bit of you know, they're deemed a little bit,
but they'll they'll play Friday night. They'll be they'll be fight. Okay, okay,
who put We've got some guys who are hurt. They're
not injured.

Speaker 3 (12:43):
There you go. Who knocked that ball at the end? Coach?
Which young man hit that ball?

Speaker 2 (12:47):
That is Alex Ganson. Alex Gamston picked it up and
picked it off. He did catch it too, Okay, yeah
he called it too.

Speaker 3 (12:55):
There was some big play. The Jones kid rope like
I made a good catching ends all right, yeah, I
heard you tell yeah you walked by the kids.

Speaker 2 (13:03):
I was like, yes, it was yeah, he made a
great play. And look as a as a as a coach,
you know, you just you know, you tip your hat
to a kid takes play like that.

Speaker 3 (13:13):
You know, well you did you did? You know? It
was like, well he made the play, so there you go.

Speaker 2 (13:18):
My thing is if you put them in a position
where they have to make a play that tough, you know,
I mean, you've done your job. Yeah, and you know what.

Speaker 3 (13:27):
Coach, there were there were a lot of plays that coach,
You guys, those kids were in position. It was. It
was a I mean, I'm not an X and O coach,
but I'm sure y'all found stuff on film. But gosh,
it looked like everybody was. There was some coverage.

Speaker 2 (13:40):
I'm sure that was blond, but yeah, well prepared. I
mean even even plays that that we were able to make,
you know, o blackness right there. You know, they made
it cuugh for us to make it, you know, And
the same way on the other side, I mean I
would I would say, let's see, I wonder how many
tackles omar and and the six for uh six for

(14:03):
a black of brother?

Speaker 3 (14:05):
Oh god, oh yards. I bet yes, good point, coach,
cause those kids were hit, but they didn't go down. No,
they bounced for four or five and some you know
more than that too. You know. It was a physical
game in the trenches. And I'm gonna say this, you
rolling the dice early in the game on fourth down, coach,
I'm like, get you.

Speaker 2 (14:26):
Well, we had I think we had it, had we
not bobbled the little pitch. You know, we had a
good play, We had a good play called Coach Wagger
called a great play, and I think we had it.
And that just goes down to the execution park early
in the game. I probably shouldn't have took that chance
that early. I was going to ask you what made
you because of the well, we had seen something and

(14:49):
we we you know at film that we knew that,
you know, if we got that situation, you know, I
really should probably should have waited the later in the game.

Speaker 4 (14:59):
You know I didn't.

Speaker 2 (15:00):
I probably shouldn't have done it that early, big rivalry game,
but we had to play just to followed the snap
a little bit, and you know and credit credit uh
credit open. You know, yeah, they got back there and
you know it with with you know, with the extra
time that it took us to try to get ahold
of the snap. You know, they got in there and

(15:21):
got their hands in there and knocked it down good point.

Speaker 3 (15:23):
And you know what's kind of like Bear Bryant told
the report off trying to win the game, that's what
you was doing. I really wouldn't questioned the coll I
just thought it was very interesting right there. You caught
we were standing there at mean, not that you caught
me off guard. Coach I thought you were putting it.

Speaker 2 (15:34):
All the ways.

Speaker 3 (15:37):
Anyway, that's a great night. I know you had a
lot o. I know you enjoyed that bank after that
deposit was made, ficts that.

Speaker 2 (15:45):
Oh yeah, that was a good it's a good gay.
Yeah it was.

Speaker 3 (15:48):
It was coach, thank you so much. We'll see everybody
at Most tonight.

Speaker 2 (15:50):
All right, love, I appreciate you, y'all guys, Sanya, all right, Coach,
