Speaker 4 (00:29):
Good morning, Ali, Good morning, How are you today?

Speaker 1 (00:31):
Good?

Speaker 4 (00:32):
How are you doing great?

Speaker 5 (00:33):
Just had a nice RESTful weekend after our biggest event
of the year, Annual meeting last Friday.

Speaker 1 (00:39):
Well, we'll tell you something I attended. Kudos. Absolutely awesome event.

Speaker 4 (00:43):
Thank you, thank you.

Speaker 5 (00:44):
It is.

Speaker 4 (00:45):
It's certainly a favorite.

Speaker 5 (00:47):
You know. We welcome five hundred plus of our closest
friends and members and they get to come meet each
other and just chat. We have a nice little a
slow start, and then we celebrate all the things that
happened both in this community with our chamber and then
also with our winners, so of course we were celebrating
our big national championship as a part of that. That's

(01:10):
the first time we've gotten our membership together since we
won the national championship, and so.

Speaker 4 (01:15):
That was a fun thing to celebrate.

Speaker 5 (01:18):
And you know, our our mission and our tag is
to be the champions for business, and so we really
leaned into that this year, and we've got a new
video campaign highlighting our members and them talking about how
we championed their business. So it was just it's a
it was a fun time, and then we got to
celebrate all those champions that actually won the won the

(01:38):
awards as well, So yeah, I'm trying to think if
I can remember all of them off the top of
my head. Our Ambassador of the Year was Keena p
Ryan from Eric McDade State Farm. Our business Woman of
the Year was Mandy Moore with Make Your Move Performing
Arts Center. That was just amazing. Our Merging Business of

(02:01):
the Year was Stints and Breads. Our Small Business of
the Year for one to ten employees was Sidetrack Coffee,
and then our Small Business of the Year for eleven
to fifty employees was Bubba's Medicine Shop, and then our
business Small Business of the Year for fifty one to
one hundred employees was Stone Martin Builders, and then we

(02:24):
gave out.

Speaker 4 (02:25):
The legendary award to.

Speaker 5 (02:28):
Lambert Moving Systems, which was really incredible. They're celebrating one
hundred years in business.

Speaker 1 (02:32):
Unreal. They were all well, mister and mister.

Speaker 4 (02:35):
Hunley and everyone was there. It was just it was amazing.

Speaker 5 (02:38):
We surprised Carlton Hunley by winning the Chairman's Award.

Speaker 4 (02:41):
And that was he was just so moved.

Speaker 5 (02:44):
And then our it all culminated with our Spirit of
Obulaika Award, which you know, I don't know anybody that
doesn't know miss d D Jackson, but she embodies the
spirit of Opelikaen when she like we I got a
video of her when she realized it was her because
we try to keep it a little bit of a secret,

(03:06):
and when she realized it was her, just the emotion
that she fell.

Speaker 4 (03:10):
And then I mean within seconds.

Speaker 5 (03:12):
Of us naming her, the whole room was standing standing
ovation screaming and shouting for giving her hugs on her
way up to the stage. And then she gets all
the way to the stage and she shouts at the
top of her lungs.

Speaker 4 (03:26):
I love Opalalaika, and it was just it was, it
was amazing.

Speaker 1 (03:30):
It was I'm so proud. She's a sweet, sweet, sweet girl.
Jeff and I we love her.

Speaker 4 (03:36):
She's my favorite.

Speaker 2 (03:37):
She was so happy when you started out like that's
d Yeah. Man, I saw her when I came in,
so I turned out was quick to jump up as
quick as I.

Speaker 4 (03:44):
Well, I mean, she's been an ambassad for us for
twenty mos.

Speaker 1 (03:47):
Didn't even know that to y'all said that, and I was,
it's unreal. But she does anything good she does. She's
the best. She's the best. He gets on Jeff, Jeff
gets on her. But she's amazing.

Speaker 2 (03:58):
Yeah, people can't say you shake your head, you can
move your.

Speaker 1 (04:02):
Yeah, she needs to be gotten onto.

Speaker 4 (04:06):
Okay, we'll only do that to the people you love, right, that's.

Speaker 1 (04:11):
Right, all right, go ahead, We don't mean to interrupt you.
So she that was pretty much the highlight.

Speaker 4 (04:16):
Yeah, that was the highlight.

Speaker 5 (04:17):
That's what really, that's what the event is all about.
We are super grateful for our presenting sponsors, H and
S Industrial and Supplies and Services. So, of course Ravend
Harvest is the regional director of that and was very
involved with the program. Our Businesswoman of the Year was
sponsored by Insignia Wealth Advisory, so Laurel Buffaloo was up

(04:38):
there with us as well. And then of course the
mayor gets to hand out the last two awards, including
the Spirit of Obulaika.

Speaker 4 (04:44):
And it was just it was fun. We just had
a great time.

Speaker 1 (04:47):
You did a good job. Looked at my clock. I
was out there for one o'clock.

Speaker 4 (04:49):
We we finished nineteen minutes early and started nineteen minutes.

Speaker 1 (04:55):
I mean she was on stage.

Speaker 4 (04:57):
When I tell you my board chair, Tabitha is she is.

Speaker 5 (05:00):
So she's just on it, like she runs a tight
ship for her schedule. And so, you know, the event
started at eleven thirty and we had a lot to
cover this time. We have we hold a board meeting,
we welcomed new board members onto the board of directors,
we celebrated those that are rolling off, and so we
started ride out eleven thirty, celebrated all of our stuff

(05:21):
and then and then we're able to transition immediately into
the awards right after that, and so and of course,
you know, I think one of the things that was
so impressive ITHCA Hospitality Group, which includes the Auburn University
Hotel and conference center. They bring their entire staff to
our event. They do all the all the lunch, so
they do we do a plated dinner and and so

(05:45):
they served that entire room in less than ten minutes.
I mean it was just like boom boom boom, Like
it was amazing.

Speaker 1 (05:50):
We went table to table, each of them with a supervisor.
It was very well.

Speaker 4 (05:54):
It was amazing watching.

Speaker 1 (05:56):
It was very classic.

Speaker 2 (05:57):
I enjoyed watching because I was like, I spell that spill,
that dropped that I dropped that.

Speaker 1 (06:03):
Everybody have been messed up? Out have done it? Oh,
hold on, there you say it again. I turned away
from the table. I turned away from the table, pushed
everything up that I can't touch anything. It won't spiel.
So I just pushed it up. It was a great line. Great.
I was glad to be there and then attending, so
it was good. So what we got this week? I
know you leave one week. I know we got some.

Speaker 4 (06:22):
Rip right, Actually this week we got some different items.

Speaker 2 (06:26):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (06:26):
So this week we have Tomorrow night is the continuation
of the Obliga Business boot Camp. But that's already I
think this is week three of that out of six
so and then we also tomorrow night. Tuesday Night is
a travel interest party. So if you guys remember last time,
we talked about Switzerland next April, potentially Christmas in New
York City this year, so both of those trips are

(06:47):
going to be talked about this afternoon at the Oplaka Chamber,
two hundred South sixth Street at five thirty.

Speaker 4 (06:52):
No need to r s VP, just come on.

Speaker 5 (06:55):
If you have any interest in exploring traveling with the
Oblaca Chamber overseas or you know, within the country, please
stop by. You can share what trip destinations you're interested in,
you can meet the team, but really learn about what
the options are around New York City this Christmas and
Switzerland next April.

Speaker 2 (07:15):
And on Thursday, Wistle Stop Bottle and Brew as business
after hour.

Speaker 1 (07:19):
Is that right?

Speaker 4 (07:20):
That's right.

Speaker 5 (07:20):
We've got a business after hours on Thursday, and then
it's food truck Friday, so that's we're really looking forward to.

Speaker 4 (07:26):
That should be a nice easy week.

Speaker 5 (07:28):
I'm actually leaving, I'm not going to be in town,
but the team has it all under control.

Speaker 4 (07:32):
So all you need to do is visit a black
chamber dot com and.

Speaker 5 (07:37):
Get registered for anything, or stop by and visit at
two hundred and Souls six Street.

Speaker 1 (07:41):
There you go, anything else can bring it before we go.

Speaker 4 (07:43):
You know, I think.

Speaker 5 (07:43):
So we've got our Business Over Breakfast coming up that
I just want to mention. It's coming up on Tuesday,
January seventeenth.

Speaker 4 (07:51):
That event should be live and available.

Speaker 5 (07:53):
For registration later today. But we're focusing on wellness in
the workplace, and so we've got a speaker that's kind
of talk about wellness trends, and then we've got a
panel of businesses that are going to talk about what
they're doing to take care of their employees and really
make sure that wellness is a focus in the workplace.
And this is everything from physical wellness to mental wellness

(08:13):
to you know, team wellness everything. And so I'm really
excited about it because we've got some people that are
really passionate about that and are doing some unique things
to make sure they're taking care of their team. And
so our Business Over Breakfast series is brought to you
by Glensmiths Chevrolet GMC, and it'll include breakfast and then

(08:34):
the speakers will get you in and out of there.
The event starts at seven thirty, it'll end by nine.
It's one of our most popular.

Speaker 4 (08:40):
Events, and I think it's going to be a really
great topic to learn about.

Speaker 5 (08:45):
So if that is something of interest to you, be
sure to check out opla a chamber dot com later
today or early tomorrow to get registered.

Speaker 1 (08:52):
Thank you a chamber comer.

Speaker 3 (08:56):
This has been Opa Laikah Chamber Chat, presented every Monday morning,
this time by Glenn Smith Chevrolet GMC in opelaika. Get
ready to smile.
