Speaker 2 (01:47):
Yes I do too. Hey, how was your golf tournament
last weekend?
Speaker 1 (01:51):
Last week I mean, oh gosh, it was amazing, but
just the best, the very very best day. The weather
could not have been better perfect. We had you know,
uh gosh, close to two hundred golfers, so it was
it was a full day. We had Texas Rockinghouse serving
up some delicious uh steak tip nachos and I mean
(02:14):
it was just it was awesome. The Mariotic Green National
Robert and Joe does an amazing team shout out to
Will and and Gosh, which I don't know why I'm
having to brain fire. That's okay, We'll get Joe, Joe,
Joe John.
Speaker 2 (02:34):
Yes, Joe McNally is the man. Yeah, I'm sorry I
lost him.
Speaker 4 (02:39):
Hip you out there.
Speaker 2 (02:40):
I was thinking to.
Speaker 1 (02:41):
The other side between Joe, Will and Ali, they are
just absolute rockets making sure our day goa is great.
So super grateful for them and looking forward to our
next one.
Speaker 2 (02:50):
Well, I'm glad. I just thought about that when we
were talking about God. So what's going on this week?
I see, Oh, We've got a busy week this.
Speaker 1 (02:56):
Week, don't we It's a busy week. The market is
a the week. This Tuesday, We're really excited to start
our six week business boot camp. It starts on Tuesday night.
It's going to be held every Tuesday night for the
next six weeks. But get this, it is only twenty
dollars to participate in the full six week class and
(03:17):
we provide you dinner every Tuesday night. So really it's
you know, last chance to kind of sign up and
be a part of it. But we partner with Jumpstart
Alabama and Joshua Saheeve is an instructor at Auburn University
who is just he's really incredible. He is an entrepreneur himself,
(03:38):
so he's really got that mentality. And then on top
of that, he is, you know, a professor at the
university and he comes and lends his expertise with us
for six weeks. And we're really happy to partner with
the Auburn University of Herbert College of Business on this
six week initiative and so people can check it out
at open like a chamber dot com.
Speaker 4 (03:57):
Oh good for you.
Speaker 2 (03:58):
I like that. I had no idea like that. So
there you go. And then you also got to well
you want to let you go into that. You got
some ribbon cuttings too, though, but you're right about it.
Speaker 1 (04:07):
We do. We have quite a few ribbon cuttings. So
let's see, Tomorrow is the twentieth, so we've got a
ribbon cutting at ten am with first Class Real Estate
Excellence and that is ribbon cutting at the Opalleka Chamber.
And then at four pm we have another ribbon cutting
at the Opelegga Chamber at with Pura Vida Family Therapy,
so exciting to learn about them. And then on Wednesday morning,
(04:29):
Carrie DoD Bookkeeping is also going to be hosting their
ribbon cutting with us at the Opelika Chamber. And then
on Thursday Stokes Stimil Personal Injury Attorneys. They're located on
Pepperrell Parkway and Opelika. They'll be doing their ribbon cutting
at ten am. And then on Saturday Floral Park we'll
be having their grand open town out of the new
(04:51):
facility at Floral Park. So we have quite a week
of ribbon cuttings. We've got the business boot Camp ticking off,
and if that weren't enough, we also have the Botanic
Tap Takeover, which is a really awesome free event for
Opalhi like a young professional So if you are a
member of Opela like a Young Professionals, of course we
(05:12):
hope you're going to be there. But even if you're not,
if you're just exploring and you are between the ages
of twenty one and forty five and you work or
live in Opahike you're interested in being engaged in Opelika,
that is really the perfect event for you. The first
forty people who get there will get a free drink.
But it is for you to attend, no registration required.
(05:33):
You just show up to Botanic. And the best part
is is that Joel's band, Truck Doll is going to
be the band during our OYP tap takeovers.
Speaker 4 (05:44):
That's big.
Speaker 1 (05:46):
It's going to be a super super fun night. It's
really just a great opportunity to kind of dip your
toe in the water and see what this OYP thing
is about. And hopefully we can find a place for
you to get plugged in and you choose to be
a member.
Speaker 2 (05:58):
There you go. I like that. I like that.
Speaker 1 (06:00):
That's on Thursday, right, That's on Thursday.
Speaker 2 (06:03):
There you go.
Speaker 1 (06:05):
And then of course, you know, we've got the Memorial
Day weekend looking forward to that, and then honestly, there's
there's no stop in us. Right now, we've got through
the end of the month of May. We're accepting applications
for twenty under forty. So that is an amazing leadership program.
We just had the graduation last week for this class.
Their class raised thirty thousand dollars to conduct a service
(06:27):
project for the Curtis House. And I mean they just
not only did they learn all about Opalalaika and really
lean into their leadership skills. But they also gave back
to our community in a massive way. And so we're
accepting applications for next year's class. And the only requirement
is you be under the age of forty and live
in ople Like. It doesn't matter if you work and
(06:49):
work in Auburn or somewhere else. If you live in
Opelika and you call it home, then we want you
to be a part of the twenty under forty program.
And applications are live until the end.
Speaker 2 (07:00):
I love it. I love it. It's been a long
standing program for many years now, hadn't it?
Speaker 1 (07:05):
It has? You know, each time I tell myself, I'm
going to remember how many years are we?
Speaker 3 (07:09):
Oh?
Speaker 1 (07:09):
No, I keep forgetting.
Speaker 2 (07:11):
But I shouldn't have done that.
Speaker 1 (07:12):
It is. It's awesome. Todd and I went through the
program in twenty seventeen, twenty eighteen, and I mean it was.
I was reminiscing yesterday the Foundry was celebrating their second
birthday and I was sitting there with you know, one
of my friends who we realized all of our friendships
go back to twenty undred forty. We made all these
amazing relationships here locally in twenty under forty. And now
(07:34):
those are the people that you know, we choose to
spend our time with. And we're really grateful for the
twenty under forty program. And it's just it can be
life changing for you if you choose to go through it.
So it was started in two thousand and six.
Speaker 2 (07:47):
And the reason I know that because I was in
the second dass in two thousand and seven.
Speaker 1 (07:51):
I rout that alley you Thereah, started in two thousand.
Speaker 2 (07:55):
I just moved here in two thousand and six, so
I missed it, So I got it the second year.
Speaker 1 (07:59):
I was here in two thousand.
Speaker 2 (08:00):
Sar.
Speaker 1 (08:01):
That's that's awesome. Well, we're soon to be celebrating twenty
years of building great leaders for the future.
Speaker 2 (08:06):
There you go, that's kind of what I was thinking.
Anything else, miss Ali?
Speaker 1 (08:12):
Yes, I do. Just want to give us a day
of a date we've got coming up June third. We
are going to be posts. Oh yeah, annual meetings things
I didn't mean.
Speaker 2 (08:22):
Okay, thank you. I was looking at that and forgot
to hollow that.
Speaker 1 (08:26):
Yes, annual meeting you know, I forget about it.
Speaker 4 (08:28):
That's okay, I got you covered.
Speaker 1 (08:29):
Girls already sold. Oh god, you know, we've only got
a few lefts. So if anyone has not yet gotten
their tickets for annual Meeting or not submitted their names
to Mackenzie for who's sitting at their table, we need
that year soon. But Annual Meeting is our largest event
of the year. We'reel and to have more than more
(08:49):
than five hundred people. They are in some indoor practice
facility at all like the high love it, and we
pass out amazing awards like Spirit of a Balika and
Emerging Business of the Year, Small Business of a Year,
one to ten employees. All of those awards that we
give out are just really really meaningful. That day and
us coming up on May thirtieth registration I think probably
(09:13):
if I think, I'm not totally sure, but I would
guess it ends at the end of this week. So
if you do want to attend Annual Meeting, get your
tickets in this week. Contact feels like a chamber. You
can give us a call at three three, four, seven,
four five or eight six y one, or purchase your
tickets online. But yes, May thirtieth, and then also looking
ahead June's third, we are hosting a chamber Travel interest Party.
(09:39):
We've got two trips coming up that are pretty epic.
We're looking at spending Christmas in New York City this
year and so there's an interest party to kind of
talk about that, and then we're also going to be
spending Switzerland or next spring. In April, we're taking a
group to Switzerland and it is going to be unforgettable.
(09:59):
And so so if you join us on June third
at the Obloqua Chamber, the event is at five point
thirty pm that night, and it's really just kind of
a meet and greet and get some questions answered and
learn more about the trips so you can decide if
you want to register and go on those with us.
So I just want to get that far enough out
on people's calendars so that they can get that added
(10:19):
to their schedule.
Speaker 2 (10:20):
Okay, good deal. Liverybody doing well.
Speaker 1 (10:24):
Doing great, good, doing awesome, just growing like a weed.
And you know, you've got a lot going on. It's
it's you know, final end of fiscal year for the
blake A Chamber. Our fiscal year ends in the end
of a and so we are busy with all things
budget and board meeting and all that kind of stuff.
So I appreciate your guys' flexibility as I deal with
(10:47):
my crazy schedule.
Speaker 2 (10:48):
We got you covered. Thank you for what you doing
calling in and keeping us up today. To Ali, I
appreciate you.
Speaker 1 (10:52):
Okay, of course, thank you guys so much.
Speaker 4 (10:55):
You got it.
Speaker 2 (10:55):
Take care Alie route present. They look like a chamber
commerce with chamber Chad right here on.
Speaker 3 (11:00):
This has been Okulaikah Chamber Chat presented every Monday morning
at this time by Glenn Smith Chevrolet GMC in Opelaika.
