Speaker 1 (00:00):
And we're going to open. I got to bring in
the head football coach of the Dogs, Brian Moore. His
football team played we Tumpka Friday night and the Scrimmers.

Speaker 2 (00:07):
Good morning, coach, Good morning. How are y'all?

Speaker 1 (00:10):
We're good? How are you good?

Speaker 2 (00:13):
Good? Just glad to glad to be able to evail
these you know, the film and get our kids in
here this morning and lift and you know, get right
back to work. So it was exciting Friday. Proud of
our guys, but a lot of work left.

Speaker 1 (00:26):
Okay, you run the bus route this morning and we
just have to bust route this morning.

Speaker 2 (00:32):
Yeah, just half this morning.

Speaker 1 (00:35):
I hear you, coach, I hear you. All right, so
break it down for me, tell me, but I appreciate
you replying to me. I had to check it out.
I couldn't make it, so I wanted to thank you
for that, coach, So kind of give me your thought.
I know you kind of just said it, but kind
of break it down for us offense defense what you saw.

Speaker 2 (00:49):
Yeah, Well, we played so last Tuesday. First to start,
we played eighth and ninth grade. The eighth grade played
Ben Russell in the ninth grade played Lagrange. So I
was excited to see them. You know, we like both
of those groups. Uh. You know, of course, as I've
always mentioned, our middle school does such a great job,
and uh, it's fun to watch them and coach Ferguson

(01:10):
and his group. And then I thought, you know, our
ninth grade had some moments. Coach k Hill does. Our
ninth grade, our ninth grade head coach does a really
good job. And then Friday we played basically a JV
three quarters a little bit more I guess, really more
of a half because we ran the rand the clock
in the third quarter for ten straight minutes, so it

(01:30):
was a quick second half. Uh, And then did kind
of the same thing with the varsity, so we played
a varsity half and then we had a twelve minute
running clock in the in the third quarter, just to
make sure we got guys in the game, you know,
and that everybody you know got to play. And you know,
I just think that spring the game is such a
reward for what the kids do. You know, that the

(01:51):
nine days of practice that are such you know, grueling practices,
you know, just like fall camps. So for them to
be able to go out there and sort of have
a reward and truthfully, Again, I've said this before, de Mark,
I'm just not really sure why anybody wouldn't play a game,
you know, just to be able to evaluate obviously, you know,
obviously people people scout your game. People, you know that

(02:12):
sort of thing. You'll worry about film and you know,
it's kind of an agreement between we Tumpka and us
that we don't share that film with anybody, but you know,
people and we put it on NFS. We we make
it private after the game, but it's folks will to
watch it live. They could on Friday. But you know,
I just think it's such a great opportunity to evoil.
And so like this morning, you know, I've already texted

(02:33):
the coaches and just said, look, there's not a more
important morning than today. You know. I think the people
that like sustain success are the ones that can critically
look at successful games and still find things you got
to do a lot better. I think that's the mark
of you know, how teams are successful year after year
is their ability to continue to critique and understand that

(02:56):
you know, we still got a ways to go, because
we do we I mean we had two we scored
five times, we had seven possessions in the first half
with our varsity we scored touchdowns on five of seven drives,
but the two drives that we didn't we had negative
plays with a two bad smaps, like little things like
that that we're breaking in a new center, you know,
and so like you've got things that you need to

(03:17):
do better. And so I think our coach has done
a really good job over the weekend of you know,
pouring over the film and making sure that we have
great feedback for our kids today. And then my challenge
will be to get the kids this morning right at
eight o'clock to be in a mindset of we're still
going to work these next two days and then we're
gonna do a great job with our finals to finish
the week. We will decompress next week and take that

(03:39):
week off. But I just think it's so valuable this feedback,
and it starts this morning.

Speaker 1 (03:44):
There you go, hope, like a football coach Brian Moore
with us, we're talking about spring the football game Friday
night against we Tumka.

Speaker 2 (03:51):
What was that final score, coach, Yeah, so it was
it was thirty five to nothing at halftime, and then
we Tumpka got really the only possession of the second half.
Like I said, it was a twelve minute running clock,
and so they drove and scored actually on the last
play of the game after half. And so, uh, we

(04:11):
did rotate some pieces in the second half. They're not
a bad football team at all. They've got some pieces.
They got a big d lineman that was an issue
for us, you know, and coach Woods has been there
I think three or four years now, and he's doing
a good job with them. But again, there's just there's
just a difference. We've talked about a d mark and
everybody in opal like and now being seven eight and

(04:31):
you know we're going to stay that way. There's just
a difference. I mean, there's just a difference with the
with the number of kids that you have and the depth. Uh.
And I think that kind of showed up a little
bit Friday.

Speaker 1 (04:41):
I think you're right. I think it matters Coach Moore.
With us, we're talking built off football. Everybody get out
of there, okay, coach, no injuries escape it good?

Speaker 2 (04:48):
Yeah we had we did we you know, little stuff
like we had an ankle, but that's you know, after
a week off, we'll be fine. And then you know,
early in spring U C. J. Pink had a little
he's a he's our running back. It's going to be
a Junior's had a great off season. It's going to
be a good player. He had a little knee deal,
but he's already had that fixed and so he'll be
back by the season. So really fortunately, knock on wood.

(05:10):
I you know, had walked in this morning. Nobody you know,
nobody's in a cast. But I think everybody was was good.
And you know that's the that's the goal of spring
that it's really physical, but you take care of each other.
I tell them you have to practice like pros. I mean,
you can't hit a guy low and you can't do
those kinds of things in the spring where you hurt
your teammate. And so I think we did a really
good job of that. Yeah, what about kicking coach?

Speaker 1 (05:31):
Was it live?

Speaker 2 (05:32):
Uh? Yeah, everything was was full go. You know, that's
something in spring games we like to do as well. Now,
it's tough because you've got so much to accomplish with
with offense and defense, it's tough to spend a lot
of time on special teams, but we did. I'm really
pleased with our special teams. We did. We did take
two time outs for personnel that's unaccessable. I kind of

(05:54):
lost my mind over that, but well we'll get that fixed.
We'll get the right you know, living on the field.
And but but it's good to operate through that stuff,
you know. That's that's the whole point. And I thought
Reese kicked it really well. He was five or five
on pats and kicked three out of the four kickoffs
into the end zone, so he had three touchbacks. So
that's a weapon somebody's starting at the twenty, you know.

(06:16):
Coach mccrack and you used to talk about that a lot
about percentages of scoring, you know, when you have to
go eighty yards. I thought it. I thought he made
a difference in the game in that way. And then
the other piece is we had a new snapper. Cam
Railey snapped for us last year, but he's going to
handle the field goal short snapping as well. And then
Wick Cooper, our tenth grade quarterback, was the holder, and

(06:36):
so you know, not having Brody Jones as the holder,
you know, if that's another piece that you got to,
you know, make sure the operations smooth because it's not
just Reese. I mean it's all three of them, you know,
to make sure that operation goes off the right way.
And so you know, we did get it on the
block every time and we knocked them through. And then
even our JV, you know, we had two young kickers

(06:57):
that made all their pats. We won that game in
JV thirty five to six as well, so we we
kicked the ball well with them. So really pleased with
our specialists. But I but I'm you know, it's huge
as far as special teams to be able to do
those in the spring, to go ahead and get ready
for that.

Speaker 1 (07:13):
How many kids did you get to play, coach?

Speaker 2 (07:15):
Shoot, I mean all of them and twenty five you know,
I mean they all played. We had one group that
we were hoping hopeful to have a possession of second
half offensively that maybe got one or two reps. But
we hope, we hope we play everybody at least a series.
And so really pleased with our coaches because that's a lot,
especially in the spring because there's a lot of new

(07:37):
faces to you know, you hadn't been with them through
the summer and that sort of thing. But but yeah,
a lot of kids played, and that was the point.
So all of them will be evaluated and and uh
we'll put those those things on TV this morning kind
of watch through.

Speaker 1 (07:49):
Okay, anything else do you want to bring up?

Speaker 2 (07:50):
Coach? No, just you know, excited about the summer, you know,
excited about our you know, Quarterback Club. You know, we
had our first lunch in this last Thursday, and we'll
you know, we'll still put out a couple of coaches
shows through the summer, and we'll have of course our
Quarterback Club membership. Everybody can find you know, that information
open like football dot Com. And so please, you know,

(08:13):
get involved with our program anyway you can. And uh,
we're just excited. I think, you know, you know, de Mark,
you and I have talked about this on the show,
but going into year two and then bringing back all
of our coaches is huge. I mean, just the knowledge
of being able to draw on those things that we did,
you know, last season and being able to kind of
revert back to some prior knowledge that we have about things,

(08:35):
I think is invaluable. And I think that our coaches,
that the continuity of us as well, you know, and
along with our team and senior leadership, I think is huge.
And so uh we're We're thankful for a good spring,
but a lot to do over the summer, and we're
excited to get back to work June. Second.

Speaker 1 (08:50):
Good deal, coach. I appreciate your time this morning. Everybody
all good, getting ready to get rid of school. Get
get not get rid of school, get out of school.

Speaker 2 (08:58):
Hey, they ready to get rid of school.

Speaker 1 (08:59):
Dame, I know, I know.

Speaker 2 (09:01):
Get in I mean, get in lake and enjoy little summer.
So uh now, everybody's good. But how about your girls?

Speaker 1 (09:08):
Everybody good, Coach, I just lived too far away, you
know what I mean. Yeah, thank you for asking. I
appreciate you, buddy. Take care of you, got it. Coach
Brian Moore on the March this morning, giving us the recap.
