Speaker 1 (00:00):
Your forecast talking about OAP like a power services. Now
it's time to talk a little OAP like a football
brought about four seasons fedal Credit and coach Brian Moore
as the head coach of the Dogs. They're headed to
the Enterprise, Alabama to take on the wild Cat tonight.
Good morning, Coach Moore, Good morning d Mark.
Speaker 2 (00:19):
How are you guys this morning?
Speaker 1 (00:20):
We're good, We're good. How are you doing good? Everything
ready to roll, ready to row. How was the lunch yesterday? Coach?
How many did you have? I ain't asked you about
that in a while.
Speaker 2 (00:31):
Yeah, probably we've had ninety one, ninety five. I would
give yesterday mid eighties. It's growing, you know, and I'm
hopeful that it will continue to Uh. You know, it's
funny when when we have a new visitor, you know,
and we see kind of you know, temp miss tim Boro,
you know, sort of introduced me, and those people have
(00:52):
come back, so, uh, there's some good content. I'm bringing
a lot of guests during the show, and yesterday was
our Strengths conditioning program and talking about our new athletic trainer,
Courtney Hughes, and uh, they spoke Kate Mcgeehe and Kate
spoke and just did a great job. So uh and
some you know kids come to the to the luncheon
as well, and uh, different position groups and so it's
(01:15):
been it's grown, and I you know, I appreciate Jeff
and First Baptist for you know, the the the big
screen that we have and all the media. I mean,
it's just really well done. Miss Kristen and Miss Judy Cooking.
It's just a it's a good deal.
Speaker 1 (01:27):
Yes, it is good for them, and kudos for you.
And that's good that you brought that up. And uh,
I know you've had Coach McGee on cave and talked before,
but it's good to have Courtney in the program. I
know you proud of her. I know that young lady.
She's been around working uh with you know, different schools,
work with us before, and now she's backing up like
it's good.
Speaker 2 (01:48):
Yeah, Buster he said, he said, I'm not gonna speak
to you. I saw him this summer. He said, uh,
y'all got Courtney. It was we were glad to hit her.
Of course he was kidding, but we were going to
get her.
Speaker 1 (01:58):
And uh, he was proud. He was serious about losing her.
He didn't want to lose her.
Speaker 2 (02:03):
Absolutely, you're right, she does a great job.
Speaker 1 (02:06):
Yeah, just those those those all those people are imported
in your program, aren't they. Coach.
Speaker 2 (02:11):
Well, I mean yeah, you know, I've had some I've
been you know, different stops along the way, and we've
had some really good ones and some not so good
ones over the years. And you know, if you get
one that you know kind of you know, doesn't press
and you know, get your kids back to playing and
you know, rehab with them the right way, it can
make a difference. You know, you gotta have kids back
on the field safely, and she certainly is a does
(02:33):
a great job with that.
Speaker 1 (02:35):
There you go, coach. All right. We had Brady Watchworth
on early this morning. Now he's getting ready the big
Enterprise wild Cats. He said, he's gonna see you tonight
and talk to you.
Speaker 2 (02:43):
So I can't I can't wait. And John and Danielle
and everybody you know, and Tucker, I just you know,
just just great family and as I mentioned before him,
show great friends. I hate I missed him. I' nna
have to go back, d Mark, you have to post it.
I have to go back and listen to him. I'll
do at some point. But hey, he's a he's a
good football player. We better know where he's at. I mean,
(03:04):
he is a he is a huge human being. I
knew they would be. Uh, but they're so much bigger,
like thicker than John. You know, they're just heavy. Yeah,
or at least he is. And uh, he's a great
player and we're gonna have to account for him for sure.
Speaker 1 (03:17):
Yeah, he has played good. There's no doubt about it.
Plays in for those that'll be watching the night, Big Brady,
all right, tell me what's seeing enterprise their bat You're
kind against the wall coach.
Speaker 2 (03:26):
Yeah, and you know they you know that that worries you,
you know, as their clock is ticking, you know for
them about you know, being at home and and you
know kind of kind of the clock is certainly ticking
and and uh, they're trying to get some big region
wins here late. And you know they they've got a
good team. I know that everybody.
Speaker 1 (03:44):
You know.
Speaker 2 (03:45):
You can look at records and say what you want,
you know, but I know these guys, and I know
their coach, and I know the level you know of
instruction they're gonna give and the things that they're capable
of doing. I mean, obviously, you know, Kate Blackman is
a really really good player.
Speaker 1 (03:59):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (04:00):
You know last year he caught two touchdown passes against US,
was a critical piece in every play from a blocking standpoint,
route running standpoint. Uh the quarterback is is it just
a warrior? I mean he's been through it this year,
had to take a lot of hits and uh. But
I mean if you look at the Pike Road game
in the second half, Dean Mark, I know you were
at that game, he just kind of wheeled them to win.
(04:23):
I mean he he at the end when they were
driving to take the lead on Pike Road. I mean
he got every carry, I mean every carry and and
just just got an the end zone. And they want
a big game, and so like for our people, you know,
you want to talk about, you know again records and
all kind of stuff. We'll look at the Pike Road,
not Chuck, you know, for both of us. I mean
we both games were very very similar, you know, and
(04:46):
how we both played. And I just think Enterprise has
a good team. They've just been through the gauntlet of
what our region is and they've already played really besides US,
all the teams that are you know, going to be
playoff contenders so far? U. You know, they've already played
all those teams and so it's been it's been a
kind of a different year for them. But again, you know,
(05:07):
d Mark, you and I have been down there a
bunch of times, and uh, it's just a tough place
to play. And we've taken some really good teams on
the road and had a hard time winning down there
with that big environment, the big nice stadium that they have,
and you know, they're people, you know, it's absolute pact
every time you go there.
Speaker 1 (05:22):
You know, there's no doubt. And I mentioned to him
their quarterback got hurt and I knew he got hit
in the Pipe Road gap and to see that game
and they did beat Pipe Road for our listeners, those
that you know that are listening, they beat Pipe Road
in Pipe Road. Uh, he got hurt in that game
and then he got hit in the head without his
helmet on against Auburn. But Brady did say he thought
he'd be able to play one hundred percent to night,
So I know that'll be good for them, bad for us.
(05:44):
Coach if ope, like, if that makes sense, their.
Speaker 2 (05:46):
Quarterback, I wouldn't expect anything less. I mean I felt
like he was going to play. I mean, it's right
again as a senior and you know, wolves to play
for them. You know. Even last year's game, he came
out of the game against US. Can't remember exactly what happened,
but like a series later they played him. But at
the same time, de Mark the kid that played last
(06:06):
ye as a backup. He's played several games, just like
our situation. I mean, you know, we're down at the
beginning of the season with was our third you know,
and so it's just it's just the it's the wear
and tear, it's down a football, it's this region we
play in, you know, us in Birmingham. It's just the
gauntlet of a region. And uh, you know, he'll play
and I'm sure he'll play really well and they'll be
(06:28):
excited about a big home game for sure.
Speaker 1 (06:30):
Yeah, it's important for a good quick start. I would
imagine for your team. You want to get started. You
don't want them to get anything positive? Am I wrong
to say that? Coach? Kind of you guys take the cone,
let them think, Oh, it's gonna be another night.
Speaker 2 (06:42):
You know, that's what you think for sure. You know,
anytime you know, your your your records and things are
like they are. And but honestly, I've had a lot
of feuds to coach. We just got to start faster,
and I'm like, I will welcome any idea that you have,
you know, uh, just if you can. I don't know.
I mean, we talk about it. It's been our you know,
we'll have our captain's meeting this morning. We're gonna hammer
(07:04):
that home again. We're gonna continue to alter practice and
you know, move competition periods up up in the day.
I mean on Monday mornings, like you know, usually I
call in the show on Monday mornings, like I'm getting
ready thirty minutes after I call you to start you know, practice,
and this good verse good right off the jump, Like
that's how we start our week. I just I don't know.
(07:26):
It's just one of those things where if we can
figure that out. Again, I don't know the numbers as
far as first half versus second half and goring differential
and all that, but it's gonna be incredible, like I've
never seen it. I mean, even last week we spot
those in fourteen points and you give a team like
that fourteen and nothing. That's a that's a tough track.
That's an uphill climb, you know, for for for you,
(07:47):
when you're gonna have limited possessions, it would be the
same thing tonight. You know, Enterprise has the ability to
line up and turn out first down and keep the
ball away. And so for us, we're gonna have to
figure out a way to start faster. I do think
our kids are aware and want to uh. And I
think at some point we're gonna break through and play
better early in the game. Uh, And hopefully that will
(08:07):
start tonight.
Speaker 1 (08:08):
And I had really know that was nothing meant by that.
I know you. I hope you know that.
Speaker 2 (08:12):
I was not a.
Speaker 1 (08:14):
Yeah after you said it, I get well that's a
good point. I was just thinking about you get a
team that's down a little bit, you jump on them
that automatic, you know, so you.
Speaker 2 (08:23):
Can see what's you can see what's on my mind,
you know. Oh yeah, Just it's just been something that
we have to and I've called I mean, I've called
around and talked to you know, good friends and the
profession and the old coaches, and I'm like, if you
have any idea, so how to get a younger team
to start faster? And most of them just say it's
just an experienced thing, you know, it's a it's a
(08:45):
getting settled in the game earlier thing. It's uh, you know,
trusting that that you have the ability to win these games.
And I think every week we get a little bit
closer to that, and again, hopefully tonight it'll be the breakthrough.
Speaker 1 (08:56):
Yeah, are we healthy? Coach? I got asked coach Daniels
at and he had three in surgery. I hope you're
not gonna tell me that, so.
Speaker 2 (09:02):
Goley, Well, no, I mean, but we'll still be without
some I mean we're you know, last week we played
four we played four guards or offensive line. Wow, uh
guards that that three of which were on basically one leg.
I mean it was one of those deals. We've got
ankles and you know, one of our left guard that
started the seasons coming back from uh an ankle a
(09:25):
break and so he was back but not himself and
so we're limited there. Then defensively, Carson Riddle still will
not play our defensive lineman, and you know, and and
soul will Leakedrick Burt. So we're gonna be without about
four or five again, and so hopefully, you know, hopefully
we'll start getting some guys back. But again we've been
(09:47):
we've been closer, just not quite there yet.
Speaker 1 (09:49):
All right, take us to this long trip coach long
day for Are you take us through it?
Speaker 2 (09:54):
Yes, sir, Well, well so we'll it's the craziest day ever.
So the first thing we'll do is we'll have we'll
have our captains meeting this morning. We have an incentive day,
Miss Fisher. At the end of the nine weeks, the
kids that do right and the grades and where they
need to be, they get to have sort of an
incentive day, so they get to go to some clubs
(10:16):
and different stuff just to kind of, you know, pat
those guys on the back for doing the right. And
so we've got about an hour of that today and
and then at eleven fifteen we're gonna report all of
our support staff and trainers and obviously our players and
coaches and everybody. Uh, and we're gonna go to Texas Roadhouse.
Brian and those guys at Texas Roadhouse have been good
dust and we're gonna have lunch together, and then we're
(10:37):
on the road ated south and uh. It'll take us
probably on the on the charter buses, you know, around
three hours I would think two and a half to three.
We'll eat in enterprise, So basically we eat lunch, travel
the enterprise, eat pre game, and you want those things
to be light. You know, you're not looking for major,
you know, massive meals where they're too full and sluggish,
(10:58):
so you're trying to continue put stuff on their stomach.
And then uh, we're gonna get to to the high
school boy four and and we'll start the process of
you know, going through that and how we go through
our pregame stuff and our stretching and all of our
meetings and things. So uh, you know, our goal is
always to get there early enough to control the environment
and and that way we kind of get settled and
(11:20):
we're comfortable. You know, that's a long walk, demark if
you remember up in that gym, you know, it's a
long walk down to that absolutely, and so we you know,
we got to account for that and and getting kids
to the field on time. We're all layered and when
we come out, you know, based on your position group
and if you're a specialist or not and that sort
of thing. So uh, and then we'll leave postgame and
(11:42):
come home. My wife asked me, said, what time you
think we're gonna be back tonight. I said it's gonna
be late. I mean it'll be after midnight and you know,
probably one in the morning, and and you know, hopefully,
you know, we'll have safe travels and our people as well.
So everybody listening and pray for those guys on these
long trips always worry.
Speaker 1 (11:57):
About our moms and dadout.
Speaker 2 (12:01):
That it is well. I know we'll travel well, and
we'll need a big crowd tonight, you know, and again
to have a chance to win this game.
Speaker 1 (12:08):
But Chris is over, he's heading down, he's got his
he's headed the enterprise. So you're gonna have wood on
the sideline. Yeah, absolutely, I'll be there. You got to
help him start fast. Okay, I'll be to.
Speaker 2 (12:19):
You. Whatever Chris you got again, I'll take it at
this point. Thank you for going and supporting us.
Speaker 1 (12:25):
Absolutely, all right, coach, are you family?
Speaker 2 (12:27):
Well?
Speaker 1 (12:27):
Everybody good?
Speaker 2 (12:29):
We're good all over the place. Today. We've got you know,
two going. Parker is the ninth grade, so he helps
this film kind of on the sideline. And the Baker's
a ball boy, my middle son, so uh suck will
be with his aunt and uncle, so he's excited about
that playing with cousins tonight, got it, Lindsay will probably
lends will probably ride the bus with me and you know,
kind of help help me with kids. I think that's
(12:50):
a good thing too. And so uh anyway, so well,
you know we're excited and and again we have to
play well and and uh just ready to go in
another another tough region win.
Speaker 1 (13:00):
And on another note, I just realized yesterday I've been
giving you four instead of five. I can't camp very
well on Wednesday night, coach. That's so horrible. You've got
to get that's not cool to me. With dinner dinner meals.
I was giving you four. I want you counting right
on your family. You've got to get you to come on.
I can't believe that.
Speaker 2 (13:20):
We've eaten a lot of Mo's and it's been really good.
So we're thankful for you guys.
Speaker 1 (13:25):
Jeez, I'm an idiot, coach, you know that.
Speaker 2 (13:28):
Come on, man, lots of good barbecue. No, we're all good.
Thank you for that, all.
Speaker 1 (13:33):
Right, coach, Hey say Frad, well, appreciate you, all right,
good luck tonight, Mark, all right, take care. That's Brian
moorehead football coach of the oh Plaga bulledogs on the mark.
It's Glen smith Chevrolet Silver bro and Colorado's preddy T
