Speaker 1 (00:00):
Two locations. We're going to Washington, d C. He was
an Auburn last night. He is our senator, one of
our senators, and probably going to be our future governor
in my opinion. Senator Coach Tommy Turberville joins us. Good morning, Coach.

Speaker 2 (00:11):
Tuverville, good morning, Welcome from the clown Show. I was
back in reality last night for a while, but now
I'm back up here.

Speaker 1 (00:21):
The clowns show. I like that we skipped the circus
and going to the clown show.

Speaker 2 (00:28):
Yeah. Well, it's just amazing to me. You know what
gunment has been closed, what four thirty five days now?
We got both Republicans Democrats looking at each other going
what do we do? They'll do your job and what
you both do?

Speaker 1 (00:43):
Well, you're right. Before we get into that, tell us
about last night, Senator. I know you were back in
back in the home next, so tell us about how
the event went last night.

Speaker 2 (00:53):
Yeah. I thought it went well. No, I didn't. I
stayed for about half of it and I ended up
flying back and getting home after midding right up here,
got a little bit of sleep, but uh, it was
well well done. By turning point, we had a great turnout. Uh,
those were usually for you know, young adults and you
know college age kids, and we had a lot of
adults there, which was great. And so I saw a

(01:15):
lot of friends, and I thought it went well. You
know the thing that I've been looking forward to it
since July. Now, as I said last night my speech,
this was planned back in July, and I was going
to introduce Charlie Kirk and just unfortunately, you know, this
mad man shot shot Charlie and and uh so we

(01:37):
went on with a show and turning points, done a
great job. I think they got one more now they
go out to cal Berkeley of all places on their
next stop. But what a change, what a change that'll
be right from home.

Speaker 1 (01:49):
I was just a coach that's going from uh uh,
summertime to wintertime.

Speaker 2 (01:55):
Oh yeah, but it was great again, I think we
I thought, great reception and good to see Lauren Eric
and Benny Johnson. I've known them for a while and
and campaigned with them for President Trump. So it was
a great group. And I understand I wasn't there when
President Trump called in, but I'm glad that he called
in and and made his presence known. But again, it

(02:18):
was it was a great night. And hopefully a lot
of the kids got something out of it and looked
at the United States of America today and a little
bit different than what they saw before before the turnout.

Speaker 1 (02:29):
I there several students that went that really enjoyed a coach.
So there you go. Now, I had a couple of
texts that knew you know, they knew you were coming
on government shut down? Can you explain it? Why?

Speaker 2 (02:41):
That's what I've been up for five years and I'm
still asking why. Here. Here's the deal. You can't get
a budget done up here, hadn't been a budget done
in years. And that's our number one job as a
congress in the Senate is to come up with a
budget of where the five treeion dollars a year goes
that the American people sent up here in taxes. But

(03:02):
nobody can agree on it. And there's what twelve appropriation
bills different like military and health care and all that
that you have to put all your money in, and so, okay,
this is where the money goes, but nobody wants to
do that because they want to spend the money where
they want to spend it. And so during the Biden administration,

(03:22):
obviously it was never a budget because they spent a
couple of three dollars more than the taxpayers sent up here,
and it's called the r just continued revelations spend the
same amount of money. So it passed thirteen times during
the Biden administration. Now we get to the President Trump,
the Democrat takes sixty votes. Democrats just hate President Trump.

(03:43):
So now we're not going to vote for it. Like
the Republicans voted with us to keep the government going,
we just vote against it. And so they want to
hold the taxpayer's hosts to say, Okay, the only way
we will we will vote for it is we basically
destroy the one big beautiful bills, take away the fifty
bing and rerural health care that really we need in

(04:03):
Alabama and all over the country. We want to add
all that COVID money back into it that basically is
going to insurance companies and not really the people to
pay for illegals getting health care. They wanted to just
destroy it. So but we said, okay, let's just do
the same continued resolution. We're not vote for it unless
you give us those two or three things. Well, the

(04:24):
heck we you, I mean, we're not here to blow
up a bill that has already passed. But again they're
socialists and anyway they can't get money the best they can.
But we voted for it every time, but they voted
against it. So balls in their court and they're meeting
this morning as we speak, they're in breakfast trying to
side as democrats. Are we going to give them seven

(04:46):
votes to open up the government. And it's just absolutely
amazing to me.

Speaker 1 (04:50):
And these are the same. This is the same as
you guys are. Republican voted when the Democrats had control,
right to keep it.

Speaker 2 (04:56):
Thirteen time, thirteen time during Joe Biden. Now we voted
on it sevenar eight times in the last month, just
to open the government and let's get things done up
here and talk about it. But no, no, no, no,
we're going to hold American people hostage. They're not holding
Republican's house. They're holding the American people hostage. I mean,
is it's getting ready to get very serious with air

(05:19):
traffic controllers and military and law enforcement. But they could
care less. They won't control.

Speaker 1 (05:25):
What's the answer, coach, What are we going to get
to When are we going to get to that? What
is the answer?

Speaker 2 (05:29):
Well? President Trump had a breakfast force yesterday morning in
the White House. And for all Republicans that listen, I
know that sixty votes and the filibuster is what you've
always done. But folks, times have changed. They're not going
to agree with anything. We're going to have a standstill
for the next three years because they hate you know,
America is so much they want to change. It's a

(05:51):
socialist country. We have to bust the philibuster. Mean, instead
of sixty votes, it only takes fifty one votes to
pass something. I'm all for that. I am sick and
tired of the Democrats playing on their side of the
court the whole time and never playing ball with the
Republicans and American people. And so I told the President
I'm all in. But you've got people like Mitch mccollins,

(06:11):
several people leffis Ah, it is tradition. We can't do it, hey, tradition.
We're thirty eight three dollars in debt. It ain't working.
And so somebody better wake up and smell the roses
up here. But I mean, you've got people that is
love power and in the Republican Party they want to
be able to control the world. And guess what you're

(06:32):
running the world's what you're doing. So hopefully President Trump
can talk them into going to bust to philibuster, go
to fifty one votes and let's get something done the
next three years, because we don't, we're going to lose
our country.

Speaker 1 (06:42):
Okay. Senator Tommy Tebovill joined us on a Hamilt's highline.
Coach You, Senator Cotton, wanted to introduce You introduced a
bill to Secure Secure Commercial Licensing Act. That you want
English tests is basically what you want, right, Yeah.

Speaker 2 (06:58):
But the first thing I had it, Tom, because I
had to. I had this, uh leave it daylight saving time.
He blocked that. So Tom and I are on outs
on that. He's the one. He oh, we don't want
our kids getting up in the dark. My god, I
stood at the bus bus stop for years, you know,
one of the little kids, you know, in a little

(07:19):
bit of dark, not not completely dark. But he blocked it.
And so we're still gonna have the clock change to us.
Now we're on the same side as the CDO bill.
No nobody drives a big truck unless you can read
English and speak English. And President Trump executive ordered that,
so it's against the law. But we've got to codify
that where if the Democrats ever get controlled, it's still

(07:40):
a law. And in California they're giving them out like
candy to all these people that don't have a job.
And and uh, we've we've seen disasters. These big trucks.
We need them. They do a great job for our economy,
but they are you can kill a lot of people
and one one stop and any of you have seen
these video those of these trucks going through and even

(08:02):
one in Alabama about three months ago.

Speaker 1 (08:04):
I saw it.

Speaker 2 (08:05):
Saw just wiped out all these people. The guy was
watching a movie.

Speaker 1 (08:08):
I heard.

Speaker 2 (08:10):
Yeah, so yeah, we're trying to get that. Where caught
a five President Trump's executive board and then I got
another one. Basically it's called rider share. If you're driving
a uber, you gotta speak English.

Speaker 1 (08:22):
I love that coach. Yeah, scary when getting in and
they don't understand you, you know what I mean?

Speaker 2 (08:28):
Oh yeah, well how about how about you're somebody delivering
Walmart groceries to your house. They have no clue. They
can't you know, they can't read the signs. I mean,
we are losing our country because we're losing our discipline
and that's nothing but discipline of doing what is right
for the American people and giving in to people that

(08:50):
are here, probably most of them illegal anyway.

Speaker 1 (08:53):
Yeah, good point. I got to switch to football, coach,
Tell me what you think is going on down here
at all? What you didn't put?

Speaker 2 (08:59):
Oh my god, where would start? Where do we start?
You know, Hugh Freese and I are good friends, okay,
and I thought, you know, defense played well, offensive line
didn't improve. But the main thing is, and Hugh knows this,
for three years, our quarterback didn't develop, no matter which
one day didn't develop quarterback. And you've got to have

(09:22):
a quarterback in this day and time of these chuck
and duck offenses, and quarterback's got to be able to
make a big play out of a bad play when
the protection breaks down. If you look at NFL, look
at what my homes does. Look at what Bowt Nicks
is doing for Denver. You know, nobody's open, he runs
it for forty yards, Go back to hust and go again.
You got to have that extra gall in the field.

(09:43):
And it just didn't happen, unfortunately for Hugh, and hopefully
we get it done soon. Got hands full of Fanny
this week and then Mercer and then of course Alabama's
coming to town. And I'm not for firing everybody during
the sea, but you know, I don't make those calls.
And Cohen made that call, and and you know he's

(10:05):
got him. He's got to make sure he makes this
right decision because people have to pay consequences if they don't.
So you're right, it's you know, but you know it's
you know, America. The Auburn people deserve better of what
they're getting right now. There's a lot of money, do
they do? I have to tell you, I was at
the game last week and Kentucky's not a good team.

(10:25):
We hadn't played well. Good people were there.

Speaker 1 (10:30):
Straights coach fifteenth straight. It's amazing. They got one of
those electrifying home field advantages in America. It's unbelievable. The
fans do deserve better.

Speaker 2 (10:39):
I do.

Speaker 1 (10:39):
I do agree. How long you think it'll take to
get a new coach?

Speaker 2 (10:41):
Coach?

Speaker 1 (10:42):
A lot of coaches there?

Speaker 2 (10:44):
Oh yeah, I mean there's a lot, a lot of openings,
so there's gonna have to be a fight over them.
I just hope we don't get in a fight with
these agents. These agents are running the price up. Yeh,
I got I got several suggestions, but I'm not on
that selection board, so it doesn't make any of what
I think. I just hope they get somebody again that

(11:04):
I thought Hugh was a good fit. But again it uh,
you know, results, I mean matter, they really matter, and
so uh, the next guy is gonna have the same problems.
And so you got to get the job done. And
and if don't get it done and move on down
the road. And it happens at every school, not just Auburn.
Oh yeah, my lord, And look at l s U Uh,

(11:25):
look at Arkansas.

Speaker 1 (11:26):
Alabama went before coach Slavan got there, exactly what.

Speaker 2 (11:32):
Yeah, we went. We went through five Alabama coaches, remember that? Yeah?

Speaker 1 (11:37):
Five?

Speaker 2 (11:38):
Well I was at Auburn and uh, we're kind of
on the same track there they're at Auburn. But you
know it'll work out, you know, we just the fans
just keep keep supporting, you know, enjoy the enjoy the
ride because now we're on a certain spot. But when
it gets back to the top, you really enjoy that.
I mean, just that's the way it goes, That's where

(11:59):
it goes.

Speaker 1 (11:59):
How are you doing for all? As you go coach,
you're doing okay?

Speaker 2 (12:03):
Yeah, Yeah, it's a you know, it's it's just a
different fight up here. I mean it's you know, everybody
asked me about that. You know, I really enjoyed coming
back to games going all like college football. But that's
a game, b Mark. This is not a game here.
And I can see a lot of bad things that
could happen if the right decisions aren't made. But I
can see a lot of great things happen if the

(12:24):
right things. I mean, now I don't have all the answers,
but uh, there's a lot of smart people. But hey,
we got to come together up here. I mean, we
got to come together because the Democrats they stay together.
But their problem is they want us to be a
socialist country, every one of them. They want government to
pay for everything. We can't do that. President Trump has
got an economic revolution going on right now. He's getting

(12:47):
seventeen to twenty three dollars moving back in this country
and manufacturing. We are benefiting from that. And I won't
have an announcement here in a week or so that
it's really going to help Alabama. And I've been working
on for three or four months with the you know,
it's a lot like Space Command and the port done
at the mobile, A lot of great things going on.
We got to take advantage of it, but we got

(13:08):
to have the rules that make that, that keep that
going once you get it. And socialism is not going
to help. Our health care is not very good, rual
health care, other health, all those things got to add up.
But you know, there's problems. There are always going to
be problems. But thank god we've got President Trump in
there because he knows how to build and build an economy,

(13:28):
and with everything else going on, that is one thing
we got to get going. We got to get our
kids good jobs and keep them in the state of
Alabama and educate them. And I'm looking forward to it, and.

Speaker 1 (13:37):
I'm glad you're up there too, and I'm looking forward
to seeing you back in Alabama. Coach. Thank you for
your time. Senator, I appreciate you. Okay, all right, God
bless you. Yes, sir, Yes, theirs

Ruthie's Table 4

Ruthie's Table 4

For more than 30 years The River Cafe in London, has been the home-from-home of artists, architects, designers, actors, collectors, writers, activists, and politicians. Michael Caine, Glenn Close, JJ Abrams, Steve McQueen, Victoria and David Beckham, and Lily Allen, are just some of the people who love to call The River Cafe home. On River Cafe Table 4, Rogers sits down with her customers—who have become friends—to talk about food memories. Table 4 explores how food impacts every aspect of our lives. “Foods is politics, food is cultural, food is how you express love, food is about your heritage, it defines who you and who you want to be,” says Rogers. Each week, Rogers invites her guest to reminisce about family suppers and first dates, what they cook, how they eat when performing, the restaurants they choose, and what food they seek when they need comfort. And to punctuate each episode of Table 4, guests such as Ralph Fiennes, Emily Blunt, and Alfonso Cuarón, read their favourite recipe from one of the best-selling River Cafe cookbooks. Table 4 itself, is situated near The River Cafe’s open kitchen, close to the bright pink wood-fired oven and next to the glossy yellow pass, where Ruthie oversees the restaurant. You are invited to take a seat at this intimate table and join the conversation.
