(00:00):
All right, hello everybody at hisPride Radio. My name is Houston,
and uh, you know, Iwas just talking about this with our our
dex guests from One Magical Weekend Jakinski. Jakinski also goes by his last name.
My first name is Jerry Houston, you know, and Jerry Houston is
my whole name. But I justgo by Houston and you just go by
Jakinski for work. Yeah, yeah, exactly same here. It makes it

(00:23):
easier, it's less long, andit has more of an impact, I
find. But when I started,it was Alan Jakinski and I thought it
was kind of long. Awesome,Well that's what we'll go by. Well,
we'll call you Jakinski. And I'msure you've people who are listening may
have already seen your image on theposter for Red Round Up Volume six.
I believe it is this year, and that's, uh, you know,

(00:44):
the opportunity for everyone to wear redat One Magical Weekend the first Saturday of
June, and it's at the Houseof Blues. Have you played that venue
before in Orlando? No, itwill be my first time there. Yeah.
What kind of set do you bringto a party like this? You
know? That's the question that Ialways have a hard time explaining. It's
it's, um, I kind ofgo with expect the unexpected, because you

(01:08):
never know, Billy what you're goingto get. Although this is a circuit
party, so you know, I'mkind of going with that kind of theme.
It's not like I'm going to playa classic Golden te dance where you
know, okay is going to beeverything you know from the eighties and nineties.
But you know, as a DG, you have to adapt, so

(01:29):
you come prepared like you want.I mean I prepared. Sorry, Um,
you know, what's the latest pophits that everybody wants to hear?
So I'll do a remix if Idon't have one that I like. Stuff
like that. Oh work on alot of personal music matchups, edits all
that stuff. So I come preparedwith a bunch of stuff that I want

(01:51):
to play, But then the restkind of goes with the flow of the
crowd. So I have to comeprepared for whatever pops up. So I
can't say specifically what's going to behappy, but I'm going to do something
to make everybody happy, that's forsure. That's my goal. Yeah,
that's good, That's what I wasgoing to ask too, because you just
mentioned it where you just sort ofgo with the flow and you see where
the party is going and you knowhow to flex with the crowd, And

(02:15):
is that your favorite way to perform, you know, paying attention to what
the crowd's looking for and what they'rehoping to hear. Oh, yeah,
yeah, of course. I meanif not, I mean it's it's yeah.
No, you have to know,it's like opening the TV. If
you don't like the program, you'regonna just change channels. So right,
you got to give them what theywant, but you also have to stay

(02:35):
true to yourself. Yeah, whatis your favorite music to play when you're
at an event like this? Imean, I'm a house guy. Yeah,
I've been in the scene for overtwenty five years. I think,
Um, I like a little bitof everything. I mean tribal, tech
house, tribal house, vogal house, pop, remix house, you know

(02:58):
everything house. I also really liketo throw in a little pinch of you
know what was big twenty years agowhen when you know, music was a
little different, I would say, right, yeah, and you release your
own songs, right, and youhave your own songs too, right,
totally? Yeah, yeah, solet me ask about that real quick.
Do you ever you know, let'ssay you're working on a track it hasn't

(03:22):
been released yet. Do you everjust drop it into your set to see
what the reaction is? Oh?Of course, the reaction the sound,
you know, the base too loud, high hats not or too loud,
not loud enough vocals. Okay,so you know, of course you want
to test your tracks before you getthem released. If not, you know,
people are going to play it andbe like what the hell? Yeah,

(03:44):
definitely definitely test your track. Whathappens when somebody hears a new track
that you haven't released yet and theywalk up and they're like, what is
that? What do you tell them? I kind of blush and I say
it's me, thank you very much. It's always it's always a good pat
on the back when that happened, right, Yeah, especially when it's something

(04:08):
that you know, Shazam's not catching. You know, people are always gonna
want to know, like, wheredid that come from? Yeah? Yeah,
yeah, you know you've you've playedall around the world, but where
is your what's your favorite city toplay in? Yeah? I gotta say
New York And why those two isare. The Florida crowd is just good

(04:30):
like because I know a New Yorkcrowd and a Florida crowd are different,
but different in good ways. NewYork has this energy that you just can't
find anywhere else really for a while. You can find it in Brazil,
but it's it's New York. Yeah, I can't say anything more. It
has that that emotion. It's NewYork City, right, um. But

(04:53):
in Florida also there's something there thatthat I can't we can't find anywhere else.
They dig the music, they theytend to. I don't know.
They have a special energy. Ican describe, describe it really better than
that. Yeah, no, Iknow what you mean though, Yeah,
yeah, I know what you mean, especially like I mean Florida. Now,

(05:13):
the gay community is sort of beingtargeted by the legislature in a lot
of different ways, and I thinkpeople are ready to fight back, but
by being themselves, which is thebest thing that you can do, right,
like to prove that you can't beheld back, you can't silence us.
So that's kind of a So there'sgonna be a different energy for one
magical weekend. I know the hostHotel is sold out they've spilled over to

(05:35):
additional hotels, So I'm looking forwardto seeing a huge crowd for you at
the House of Blues. Yeah,I mean you're right. With everything going
on, I mean, it's it'sit's a shame, it's Yeah, it
really pisses me off. But youkind of got to step aside and be
like, are we going to fightback with anger or are we gonna just
like you said yourselves, the authenticright, just show the world that you

(06:00):
know, we're here, we're queer, were here to stay, you know
exactly. Yeah, I mean, hopefully one day this is all end.
I mean, I can't believe intwo thousand and twenty three, it's it's
an issue. It shouldn't be.I agree with you, it's it's yep,
it's it's crazy that we're still dealingwith it. Yeah, but we

(06:20):
got to stick together, and Ithink as a community we're really good at
that. Yes, exactly, andthat's what they're not prepared for. Yeah,
no, no, you're right.Yeah. Um, well, I
appreciate you taking time out of yourbusy schedule to chat with us. Um.
You know, we're looking forward toone magical weekend, looking forward to
seeing you at the House of Blueswith Roundup and uh, it's gonna be

(06:43):
a good time. It will be. So, I think got your tickets
or whatever, get them, that'sright,
