Speaker 1 (00:00):
Tlock hour when what matters with Mindy mckaylae will take
over the airways. We have so many different guests, like
four different guests coming in and you get a chance
to win free tickets to Kosai. But it's going to
be a busy, busy week, Boots. You know what tomorrow is.

Speaker 2 (00:14):
I don't know what.

Speaker 1 (00:14):
Tomorrow is other than Cyber Monday.

Speaker 3 (00:16):
I have to go to Monday and I have to
go to Roosters and pick up our rooster box because
that's good.

Speaker 1 (00:21):
So tomorrow is it. It starts the new high school
basketball season where Randy is back being the head coach.
This time it's at Christa Ray. They really really wanted
him to take this job. He finally he agreed to it,
but he's up against a rock and hard place. Can
you imagine taking over a team, Boots, that didn't win
one game last year, and that not only didn't win

(00:44):
a game, would get beat by like sixty points.

Speaker 2 (00:46):
That's not bad.

Speaker 1 (00:47):
You had twenty kids, ten on varsity, ten on jv
last year. The series school though five kids. No, it's
not it's Christa Ray. It's part of the diocese. Christa
Ray is a private school. It's a low income school.
It started in Chicago with family who really wanted their
kids to have a private education but couldn't afford it.
So they started this Christo Ray program where.

Speaker 2 (01:08):
You will love this.

Speaker 1 (01:09):
These kids, you know what they do. They work a
day out of the week, like they have all these
different partnerships. Crystal Rays partnerships are different. Business is good thing,
and they work and the money that they make at
these jobs goes toward their tuition. So what their slogan
is the school that works Anyway, Athletics is not real
high up on their priority.

Speaker 2 (01:26):
List, but well they got to be by sixty points.
I can understand that.

Speaker 1 (01:31):
So he's taking over this program.

Speaker 2 (01:32):
The first game is tomorrow.

Speaker 1 (01:34):
They will play against Columbus one.

Speaker 2 (01:35):
It's the post you made.

Speaker 3 (01:36):
They look very ethnic, very They're African American mostly right, yep,
doesn't They have a lot of natural talented young men
that complain about saying, well, I watch.

Speaker 2 (01:47):
The NBA and what are you saying? Both? I'm trying
to be please see here, PC, but have you ever
been well?

Speaker 3 (01:55):
But the NBA is ninety African Americans are skilled very
I don't, I.

Speaker 2 (02:00):
Don't know, you know what most great athletes are of color.

Speaker 1 (02:06):
This is a varsity basketball team. Okay, high school varsity basketball.
Six of his players have never ever played organized bass.

Speaker 2 (02:13):
One kid looks like he's like six to four.

Speaker 1 (02:14):
Now they're not. But I said, six of these players
have never even played organized basketball and they're going to
be on this varsity team. You go, it's gonna be fun.
Uniform they do because one of Randy's coaches that Katie
reached out to me on Facebook and said, I can
help Randy. I can help give you because they didn't
have uniforms, they didn't have reversibles, they don't have a
full gym. He has to take them, let them up

(02:37):
in a vand go to another school to practice.

Speaker 2 (02:39):
Randy drives. He has to drive a big van. Is
it like a church bus or like a big kind
of like a church bus motor home looking thing? No,
not that thing.

Speaker 1 (02:46):
So anyway, high school basketball season. I just love that
he's a head coach because now you can't.

Speaker 3 (02:53):
Let me give you some advice. Don't go there and
start yelling at the reps and stuff. Your reputation is
very known.

Speaker 2 (02:59):
In it's commune. Oh I know that, and it's not good.

Speaker 3 (03:01):
No, I've had people coming. I can't believe you here
seeing me. I've heard, I've never really seen her. I've
seen yell at Cammy. But I'm like, dude, remember when
I stood you about four years ago, Cammy struck out
or something, cam what's your middle name?

Speaker 2 (03:14):
Kimmy Joe, Kimmy Joe?

Speaker 3 (03:15):
What are you thinking? And I went, remember when you
played for High State? She I didn't play for I,
I says, just shut up.

Speaker 1 (03:22):
I can't help that.

Speaker 2 (03:22):
I'm pass But this this type game, you've got to
be more cash. I know, I know, but that's okay.

Speaker 3 (03:28):
They had face paddles made of you one score. They
had paddles that the kids held up when she started yelling.

Speaker 1 (03:35):
To yell across the court Indy drey or Bon't Won't Bundy.
But it was all in fun, fun, fun fun. Anyway,
I'm gonna here's my promise to you, boots.

Speaker 2 (03:49):
Be nice.

Speaker 3 (03:50):
I'm always nice, I know, but don't say ref we
get your head out of your behind.

Speaker 1 (03:56):
I used to have my friend Chuck, who's no longer
with us. He used to come to all the games. No,
he'd say, bumblebee, bumblebee, Who the heck's the referee?

Speaker 2 (04:04):
No, he was as bad.

Speaker 3 (04:05):
All right, So you realize that referees are human and
if you yell at them, they will call more stuff.

Speaker 1 (04:11):
I'm half Italian, so my emotions.

Speaker 2 (04:15):
Get I know better to yell refs.

Speaker 1 (04:17):
I already told the kids I met them. I met
them and he had a practice on Saturday on Friday,
and I told them, you know what, guys, I'll be
your biggest cheerleader. They're gonna think I'm crazy. I'm gonna
do the PA system on the home games. Love Saint Charles.
Saint Charles is allowing Randy and this Christa eight team
to use their gym, which is like a small college,
for their home games.

Speaker 2 (04:38):
That's all.

Speaker 1 (04:38):
They only have like five or six some games. The
rest are on the road because they don't have a gym.
So anyway, that starts on Monday. I will post things. Actually,
I started a Twitter page for them. Randy did, Randy
and I did, and we're going to follow this team.
Randy's telling everybody, don't go early. Don't go early in
the season. Let's let them develop a little bit and
then maybe check them out halfway through the season. It

(05:00):
all starts tomorrow.

Speaker 3 (05:01):
But cousin Jill just text me her address. Okay, and
she also said that she her legion's going to donate
the on her flight.

Speaker 2 (05:09):
Thank you.

Speaker 1 (05:10):
It's awesome and I'm glad she keeps winning on Rivia. Yeah,
even though she lost to you. All right, that's it
for us, Boots. A week other than collecting money from roosters.

Speaker 2 (05:20):
No, no, no money.

Speaker 3 (05:21):
I just got to go get our rooster bucks to
kid are fine now now real quick? Pete over one caller,
his son started a group for Christian young men to
go and have dinner and talk about them. And guess what,
Roosters stepped up gave me some extra money. Pete has
saved all his winnings and they were able to go
to Roosters. I think there was twelve young men after
church and Roosters and us. We took care of them

(05:43):
and they were doing.

Speaker 1 (05:44):
The right here's the deal they Randy wants to do
like most schools do team meals once a week before
Friday night games. Maybe Roosters would step up and do
it for christs.

Speaker 3 (05:54):
I gotta say that, she goes. I'll do this one time, Boots. Finally,
I'll help.

Speaker 2 (06:00):
I'll just do it.

Speaker 1 (06:01):
What matters is coming up next, folks, the month of December,
and you're family like friends all right.
