for the last four days. Peopleare talking about it. Some can't believe
what the Lions did in the firstround. We're going to get to that
in the second. But do youhave any draft stories, because when I
covered the Chiefs, the draft wasdifferent. Back then. It was Friday,

Saturday, Sunday, all day Saturday, all day Sunday and one Saturday
when I was covering the draft.And you have to understand, this was
before Arrowhead was renovated and they didn'thave their own practice facility like offices,
So the coach's offices were at Arrowhead, and so after practice we'd go back

to Arrowhead, hang out in thepress box, then go down to the
locker room. Right. So duringthe draft, this was Saturday, Herm
comes out of his office just youknow, shooting the shit with us because
it was a lull in the draftand I had planned Saturday night. I

(01:52):
had concert tickets to Barry Manilow.Not only did I have tickets to see
Barry Manilow, but it was ameet and greet afterwards. So I said
to Herm, we need to pickup the pace here because I have a
concert to go to Barry Manilow meetand greet. We need to move it
a law. Yeah. So didhe trade like some late round picks for

you? It was fine, helaughed at me, because and then I'm
thinking, do I really say thestuff that I say? Like I'm just
soft the top of your head.I need you to pick up the pace
because if you don't know who you'repicking now, Yeah, I think people
maybe don't realize we are a veryselfish people in the media industry. I

mean, you know, when whenwhen the Lions made all those trades Tuesday,
Tuesday, Wow, losing my whereI'm at on the calendar here,
it's been so so long. Whenwhen they made all those trades Friday and
they came back Saturday with only twodraft picks, that was we were celebrating
in the medi room because that meantless work for us. We've had those
those years where they have like sixor seven picks on day three, and

that's just hell because then you beenall day on a writing on a teleconference
with the player writing again, youget no time to actually work and think
and digest what's happened. So we'rea very selfish, right, selfish crew,
right, But it's not like youcould leave right. You're not talking
to Brad Holmes until the draft isover, you know what I mean.
So there's a lot of hanging aroundtrying to figure out what to do,

and a lot of eating. Imean, because the teams really do put
on a nice spread and there's there'sa lot of grazing, and I find
my appreciate the eating like a pick, it's gross. But with the draft
you were in Kansas City. Iwas, Yeah, No, my story
is from the draft. They're allof personal hell, just from travel,

(03:45):
traveling. You know, I goto the draft most of years round one
at least, um, and that'sa really long night. You know,
I probably wrapped up writing at threein the morning. By the time I
get done. Um. You know, when the when the player is there,
a players, as was the casetwo years ago, they go through
the whole car wash if they talkto ESPN and NFL Network and serious and
they signed for Panini and they doall the things that they all their obligations

of being a draft pick, andthen they get to the media room at
the very end. So you know, for me to get something interesting to
write or hear some stories from theseguys, it takes I'm sitting doing nothing,
as you're saying, for a longlong time. And so by the
time I wrap up six am flightthe next day, I think I was
six thirty am on Friday this yearcoming back. Then you go into an

all day work day on Friday andit's really the same thing on Saturday.
So my draft stories probably aren't ofinterest to people out there. But for
me, I told my kids thisyesterday when I picked them up from school,
was like, summer is kind ofhere for me now, not that
it's summer, but like, man, the heavy lift is over of my
sort of offseason work schedule. Yeah, and so at least next year you

don't have to go anywhere because thedraft obviously trite. Ye, How did
Kansas City? How did it comeacross? How did it look in person?
Barbecue was good un to Oklahoma Joe's. They have the best season fries
ever, I'm telling you ever,the best. I will go there if
the Lions playing Casey this year anddon't go over to Germany. I'll hit

that one when I go in.But I didn't. I mean, and
this is the other thing, youknow, people ask me about that too,
Like I don't. Um, Ididn't even see like where the people
were at out there. I sawmasses of crowds in the street, but
um, you know, I wasstaying outside of the city a little bit
where I the parking for the mediawas sort of on the back end of
where all the draft stuff was happeningat And then this one, the media

setup was in a hotel. SoI just sort of went in the back
door, and I didn't. Iwasn't even out by the stage at all.
A lot of times, you know, you do see the crowds in
Philadelphia. I remember going there andit was just a massive amount of people,
you know, Kansas City. Theweather was decent, and I know
just from from the TVs there area lot of people out there. But
that's sort of the um, youknow, the how the meat is made,

you know, of covering a draft. I guess is that I don't.
I don't see any of that.It's like the Super Bowl peole who
are like, oh, it's awesome, all the parties in this super Bowl
is just a long work week too, So yeah, I remember it's more
work than it's worth. Sorry tointerrupt too, which I'll be doing often.
That's um. I remember going tomy first super Bowl in Houston,
and I'm so excited because I getto cover my first super Bowl. When

your team isn't in, it notso fun because you do a bunch of
work for nothing. Nobody cares,you know. I mean, it was
just I'm like no, and theyasked me. I came to Detroit for
that super Bowl because it was homeand then they asked me have the year
the next year, I go,do you want to go to the super
Bowl? I'm like, no,absolutely not. I mean that's the thing.

The first year. It's fun,exciting. Don't spoiled when we say
that, because I think I've beento eight or nine or ten or something
like that, so you don't wantto go I didn't go back this year
either, Yeah, exactly. Butall right, getting to the draft super
Bowl talk, Oh yeah, that'sright now. Their odds for the super

Bowl have gone up. Right formaking the super Bowl? I think I
don't know they were they're they're they'revery well thought over right now on the
very well I think, did yougrade their draft? I did? What?
Did you give him a? B? So? Did that? Was
like I think the national average?That's sort of the fallback. Let's be
honest, right, don't want togive him an A. You know they

it's not like they did awful,so you're not going to give him a
D. But you're like, hB. That seems about right right.
But their first pick, obviously,they traded out of the sixth pick,
moved down to twelve, and tookAlabama running back Jamir Gibbs now, um
shocked. I think a lot ofpeople were. Nobody had him on their

mock on their twenty five hundred mockedrafts right going to the Lions. There,
no one did. And I haveto be honest. After that pick
and you and mind you, aftera team picks, they show the war
room, so to speak, thedraft room of the you know, like
the Lions. They showed and sothey made the pick. Then Brad home

he was his reaction was so overthe top and ridiculous. I'm sorry because
and it was a little fake.No, I'll tell you why. I'll
tell you why not that his reactionwas fake because after the pick, he
was sitting there and then Dan Campbellcomes up and does it whatever, and

then he goes nuts. Well,why aren't you going nuts when you picked
him? It seemed a little showyto me. No, no, no,
no, I mean I find thatvery genuine, the look we don't
see everything, and maybe it's cutup right, but when when the team
in front of you takes why wasn'the going nuts when they made the pick
and he was there, he didn'tgo nuts when they did that? Well,

I look, I don't know howit was cut up and I'm trying
to think in my head of ofyou know, exactly when here it was
like a campbell in the stern ofgoes to the back of the room and
a delayed reaction is what I youknow, what I happened sometimes, but
I think that the response is right. You're like, all right, I
got this guy, this guy,this is who I want, This is
who I want? Is he goingto be there? That team in front

of you picks and all of asudden you're like, yeah, you know
that it just comes out and bythat, you know, the exuberance that
he and others felt about getting theirguy. I mean, it's such a
long process and this is the culminationof it. We'll talk about whether he's
the right guy or not. ButI you know, I don't doubt for
a second that Brad and the restof that crew, with all the work

they put in, as much asthey like this guy, were genuinely thrilled
that he was there for him.Well, I think that's kind of ridiculous
considering nobody was taking him before thetwelfth pick. That's my that's my that's
also my thing. It's like nobodywas taking him, so your reaction of
Oh, I'm so excited he's there. Well, it's ridiculous, that's my

point. It's like, wait asecond. Nobody, not one team was
taking him before the twelfth pick.Have you ever online shopped like at Christmas
and you're like, man, Ihope this is there, this this is
and then it opens up the windowto buy it, Like we went and
got a PS five for my son. Right, this was two to your
Santa did right. If Jack's listeningout there, this was not me to

take it back Santa. Um,but Santa was waiting online at like whatever
I'm not going to name the bigdepartment store or the big you know store,
and let's say they want to cutus a check. But um,
you know, in the window opensthe buy it and you're like, am
I gonna oh, come on,come on, come on, come on.
Yeah, it's there, right,that was bread Holmes. He smacks
the table a bunch of times.He's there, even though you think you're
gonna get when nobody. Nobody wastaking him, so to me, and

he knew that. He knew that, So that's why it was a little
over the top, all right,So what do you think I think they
went with him? Because of JamisonWilliams his suspension. I don't care what
Brad Holmes says. I mean,I think he'll help soften the loss of
Jamison Williams for the six weeks.But I don't think anyone's taking a draft

pick at number twelve overall just becausea player suspended for six games. But
it is the Lions, after all. This is a new Lions, right,
isn't it? Or is it thesame old podcast Lions? Could be
the same old Lions. We'll getto that in a moment. But the
Jamir Gibs, Yeah, all right, So look, I I mean,

(11:43):
you're right. I don't no onehad mocked him as high as number twelve,
right, I think in talking topeople afterwards in twenties, there was
some expectation that maybe you get intothe teams. Um. You know,
I've said this before. I likethe player a lot. I think he's
a good player. He did alot of good things at all BAM,
even before that at Georgia Tech.I don't think the Lions got great value

(12:03):
with either of their first two picks, Gibbs or Jack Campbell the linebacker.
And I know Brad has talked aboutor this week he sort of made a
point to say, well, itdoesn't match up with a lot of people's
mock drafts, and so we youknow, that's why people don't like it.
That's not what it's about. Inthe NFL. It's about the value
of that position and where you takethem at and there's so much more as

(12:24):
so I think why people why peopledon't like it. It's not about the
mock drafts. It's about the valueof taking a running back and a linebacker
that high, the contracts that theyget, the missed opportunity cost of maybe
you know, taking a pass rusherat that time, the what that means
down the road. We just saw, you know, first round linebackers did
not get fifth year tenders in PatrickQueen and you know, and someone had

said in the Seattle linebacker Brooks eventhough he had like two hundred tackles two
years ago, I know he's comingoff in a cl I know, there's
a lot that goes into it.And you know, Roquan Smith, somebody
said, well, you know that'sbecause the Raven's just you know, signed
ro Well, guess what Roquan gottraded for a second round pick and a
fifth round pick, right So thebest linebacker in the NFL when the Bears

(13:07):
were dealing him got traded for asecond round pick in a fifth round pick,
and you got rid of another firstround linebacker because he wasn't Roquan Smith.
So if Jack Campbell turns into RoquanSmith, great, Right, the
value is not there based on theposition and where you drafted him, right,
Well, same thing for the runningback. Well, speaking of Brad
Holmes, he did comment on allof your mock drafts. Yeah, there's

(13:31):
no differspect to the mock draft.I get it. And then it's not
the guys that everybody had in thoughin their mock drafts and all of stuff.
And frankly, we don't care.I really think it's funny. I
don't blame him for not caring.Well, he shouldn't care. If you
are caring about a mock draft,you shouldn't have a job, a GM

(13:52):
job. I mean, if you'regoing to look at every mock draft,
then I know you look. Butif you're paying a tention to it,
maybe you should be in another profession. No, No, they just pay
attention to sort of get a layof the land, right, This is
sort of the general public consensus ina lot of ways, you know who
who, people may talk to peoplearound the league may help them fill in

(14:15):
some of these these holes, andso it maybe it does give them a
little bit of a sense of howhow other teams view players. But certainly
they don't put much stock into anyone'smock draft when it comes to what they
do in the draft. Well,I also think a lot of people were
surprised that they went with Jamir Gibbsfor the on the offensive side of the
ball and not going defense because theyneed they helped the back end of their

(14:39):
defense obviously in a free agency andthey drafted branch safety. Is that okay,
splat corner, let's go right forsure, but didn't help you know,
defensive line edge another edge rusher.Right, So, ultimately, I
think this draft several years from now, and I like all the players they
draft. I think they they gota good haul. And I think if

(15:01):
you look at the draft grades thatpeople give out that don't mean much either.
Right, everyone likes as a playerGibbs and they like Campbell, and
they like Laporta, and you know, getting Hendon Hooker was a good value
where they got him and branches Agood player. So there's no doubt that
the Lions got four players who helpedthem on the field this year. In
a fifth sort of lottery ticket andhooker. But when you judge this draft

(15:24):
years from now, it will comedown to how is Jalen Carter right?
Who they passed on. I didn'tthink they should take him. I think
that was just not the right fitfor them. How was Tyree Wilson right?
He maybe had the medical concerns abouthis foot, But that's another player
the Lions passed on at six,Bijon Robinson verse Gibbs, because the Lions
passed on Bijean at six, andif you want a running back right,

(15:46):
and he was, by most estimation, is the best one in the draft.
So that's what this draft will bejudged on, based on how those
players perform. Who the Lions passedon at those spots, Christian Gonzalez and
the teams well Anderson Junior. Imean, my question is if the Texans
didn't, why didn't the Lions moveup to get him? If they were
in love with him? I can'tfault them for that. I mean,

(16:07):
you know, the Texans gave upa first round pick next year too,
like the Texans gave up a lotand the Lions didn't have a shot at
that and they really what they Youknow, I thought Will Anderson Junior was
the best defensive player in the draft. You know, he's a good pass
rusher or some debate about you know, how high is his ceiling. Maybe
he's not a Miles Garrett type,but he was the best defensive player in
the draft. I thought Tyree Wilsonwas a great fit for the Lions too,

(16:30):
just based on you know, hissize and the position he plays and
the value he would have provided there. Again, he had, you know,
he had some some questions with hisfoot medical concerns, though we don't
know how deep those ran with theLions, so you know it, I
don't think it's just about, hey, you have to take defense area,
you have to take a position ofvalue there. But really, again that's

(16:52):
the only critique of the Lions draft. It's not about the players. It's
just about the value paid to getthose players at the spot said they did.
They also took finally took a quarterback, Hendon Hooker, an injured quarterback,
but a quarterback no less. Andnow now we asked Jared goth if

(17:12):
he had started talking to the Lionsabout an extension. He's got two years
left on his deal. Yep,he'd like to sign an extension, he
said that. Ye yeah, Nowyou're reporting Brad Holmes talking to his agent.
Looks like he might get an extentif they give him an extension before

(17:33):
this season. No, tell ushow you really feel. I can see
the disgust on your face. Wedon't. It's too bad we don't have
a video stream of this and notyou have to wait till after the season.
I'm sorry, what if he shitsthe bed? I mean, look,
I'm with you. If I wasn'ta team, if I was the
Lions, I would wait one moreyear. I mean, I would want

(17:56):
why why do you have to dowork? But if they do it,
they don't have to. But ifI'm Jared Goff and if i'm his you
know his representatives, I'm I'm pushingfor a deal right now, of course,
And so that's you know what.Look, it remains the scene be
seeing whether it gets happened, whetherwhether it happens. But I mean the

momentum seems to be going that way. And I know some people thought,
hey man Hendon Hooker and he's thequarterback of the future, and this is
why the Lions took him. ButI never saw it that way, just
based on where they took him,and you know what, he the development
ahead, and so I thought thatthe Hooker pick was it's a good value
pick, it's a worthwhile roll ofthe dice. But to me, it

(18:41):
just it cemented the fact that JaredGoff is going to be here because you're
not turning this team, a contendingteam that has this window to win right
now over to a guy certainly notthis year coming off a knee injury,
or next when he's never played theguy. I mean, he's probably not
going to play in the preseason,so he will have never taken a snap.

(19:02):
And so you're going to have topay Jared Goff at some point if
you think he's good, if youif you expect to have a good season,
and so maybe from the Lions perspective, they say, well, let's
do it now to get ahead ofit to save some money. I wouldn't
do it. I would wait tomake sure that he has another season like
this. But if you're going tohave to pay him a year from now,
because the lines think they're good,then maybe they just say, well,
let's get ahead of it so thatway we you know, there's one

(19:25):
less year down the road that wehave have this deal. Well, nobody
thought Hendon Hooker was going to playthis year, considering Brad Holmes said he
could sit back, develop and gethealthy because he tore his acl last year.
Well, your friend and mine,Carlos Nares seemed to write that there
is going to be a quarterback controversy. I don't know where he got that
one from. But did he gethit in the head. I mean,

(19:47):
seriously, where does he come upwith this? I've dealt with it for
a dozen years now. I don'tthink there will be maybe a quarterback competition
between who's their backup? Yeah,exactly, Nate Sudfeld. This is in
Carlos's own head. Maybe there's abackup controversy between Sudfell and Hendon Hooker.
Who's going to be the number twoor three? Not even I mean there

(20:11):
will be Hooker is healthy. Well, that's what I mean. There's no
quarterback competition between Jared Goff and HendonHooker. I mean, come on,
but you, I mean, you'veheard from enough fans, you know when
a quarterback gets drafted, even aroundthree, one that has a big name
like Hooker, right, a guythat some people projected to go in the
first round. That naturally there isa segment of fans out there who says,

this is our guy. We're donewith Jared Goff. You know he's
going to be the answer. Again, I never saw that as a case
when they drafted well. And that'sif Jared Goff struggles this season, they
will be calling for Hendon Hooker.They're not going to be calling for Nate
Sudfel. Sorry, correct, No, you're right about that. They will
if he struggles. Okay, ifhe gets hurt, right, he misses

(20:55):
two games, you never know.Everything has to fall in to place.
And obviously Jamison Williams getting suspended.My question to you is, I don't
know. If you're in the lockerroom, why not study a playbook instead
of placing bets? Call me crazy, maybe you should be I don't know,

studying the playbook, so you don'tgo, I don't know play in
six games one catch, I don'tknow. That wasn't about not knowing the
playbook. That was about the kneeinjury. But I don't care. Learning
the route what ever, read theplaybook, I don't know. Look on
the wall, see it right therein black and white. No betting in
the facility, no betting on NFLgames. I don't know. To me,

it's pure stupidity. I think it'simmaturity. I think it's lack of
judgment. I mean, I thinkthose you know, look, if you're
if you're concerned about you know,Jamison and the pick and it's it's it
valids some of that, you know, because it really you're right, every
NFL locker room there's a signposted thatsays, hey, no gambling, right,
here are the rules and listen.I cut Jamison a little bit of

slight the gambling thing because he's bettingon non NFL games, right, if
you're betting on college football or collegebasketball, whatever, it's something millions of
people do. And I think Iwrote it right after you know, the
suspension came out, like this islegal mobile betting in thirty states in Canada,
So he's doing something that's legal forthe vast majority of people. But
that said, in the NFL,you got to know better, right And

(22:26):
as a young guy who's not playing, who to your point, has a
lot of development ahead. Who needswho needs a lot of work to get
to to reach the levels that theLions and people think he can be.
Like this is just after missing thebulk of your rookie season to now miss
six games, even though it's onlysix games, Like, that's not a
good start a lot. It's nota good start. He's going to finish

(22:47):
this year by having played in atmost seventeen games, so he'll have missed
one of his first two seasons inthe NFL, and the Lions will then
have one year after that to decidewhether he's worth well. Then he's better
show up on game day. Buthe will be able to practice during OTA's
mini camp, training camp, andthen once a season regular seasons, he's

(23:11):
gone from the facility. He can'tbe in the facility at all, right,
correct, Yeah, I know hecan play in the preseason. Suspension
starts the first week. He's outfor the first six six games, including
a bye week if it happens tofall early. He can come back and
start working out on his own atthe facility three weeks into the suspension after

(23:32):
serving the first half of it,but he can't practice with the team unless
the Lions get an exception from theNFL. Are the Lions done signing free
agents? I know they did theirundrafted rookie free agents and signed Adrian Martinez
a court. Oh he's that quarterbackcompetition right there. Yeah, between Hendon
Hooker and Adrian Martinez. M arethey are they done? Is their team?

(23:52):
Are they done? I think withthe heavy lifting for right now?
You know they look, you couldstill add another interior pass rusher or injuries
always pop up. You know,there's there's bound to be something. I
mean, even wide receiver. Youknow, Frankly, I know they addressed
it in the draft, but youknow to me that the first six weeks
they still have a little bit ofa question there. So I could see

(24:15):
them adding someone else, but noone of note. You know, this
is the team that they have rightnow, is a team that they're going
to be rolling with until injuries strikeor if they make a trade or something
like that happens later on this fall. So now they have to go and
prove it. Of course, Idon't know why you say that, because
they're already picked to win their divisionwhen a host a playoff game get to
the Super Bowl. I don't evenknow why they're playing the game. Got

(24:38):
to be honest, right, Imean seriously, okay, wait a minute.
Should they not be favorite? Didwe talk about this in episode?
Yes? I know, but it'sreally I don't like what bothers me is
and people do this all the time. Is they're so good they haven't played
a game yet. That's my point. Play a game first, let's see,

(25:00):
and then I'm not saying they're notgoing to be good. They should
be good. They improve their teamimmensely. Well. I think they have
the best roster in the NFC North, and they're young, young, you
can there's some upside there, someprojectability. I think they have one of
the best rosters in the NFC.But it's not like it's without holes,

right and offensively, you know,I do have a look. Ben Johnson's
brilliant. I think they'll be finebecause of you know, everything that he
does. But I do think thereare some concerns they're on offense just early
in the season, based on youknow, you've got a couple of young
guys playing key roles and maybe thelack of weapons, you know, outside
of Almond Ross Saint Brown proven weapons. But they have the best roster in

the NFC North, so they shouldwin. It'll be a disappointment if they
don't make the players. You knowwhat game, I keep going back to
the Panther's loss. I cannot atthat game. I'm like, this is
who they are, do you knowwhat I mean? Like that game because
it was it was awful. Itwas a dumpster fire. That defense was
gross, offense was couldn't stop thewrong, couldn't do anything right. So

(26:10):
that's the game I go to whenI think of the team last year and
like everyone's like, oh nine andeight they beat the who tears that they
beat the Packers. You sound tome like someone who's watched a lot of
Lions football in the past. Well, you know, I've watched my fair
share of games, been to afair share. But that's the game I
go to, and I don't,Yeah, you know, do you think
that's fair? Am I? No? I guess I mean I say that,

(26:33):
right because we've all been around thistown so long, and we've seen
the Lions and all the lows,and you know, only had hope and
seen it get snatched away. Righttwenty eleven, they were they looked like
they were going to be so bad, right, They were young, and
then they go four and twelve rightin the next year, and so I
get that, you know, they'rethey're winning. In what twenty and sixteen
when Stephor heard his finger, right, they lose their last three games,

(26:55):
they lose out and win in thedivision. So I think we've been around
this. So Stafford, what doyou call them, matt It's Matthew,
Matthew, I think I said,Stafford. I would never offend Kelly like
that. No, it's but Ithink you know, we've we've seen this
before and we've had that that rugpulled out from under us before, and

so that that's maybe the natural instinctis to say that's really who they are.
But when that happens once in tengames, twice in ten games,
and they didn't play great all thoseother games, you know, the Jets
was kind of that was a gamethey could have lost. And but I
don't know. I think I thinkwhat they did at the end of last
season, and more importantly, justthe roster itself, right when you look

at the roster compared to other teamsrosters in the conference, Yeah, I
think there's a lot of legitimate reasonfor optimism. Okay, with that said,
would it be so sl if theygave Jared Goff an extension right now?

around it right, Yeah, wedon't. It's just if again, if
I'm the Lions, I wait ayear because I want to see, you

these quarterbacks in the NFC, becauseright now there's no one. There's Jalen
Hurts and then is Jared Golf likethe second or third best quarterback in the
NFC. I mean, all thegood quarterbacks are Joe Burrow and Justin Herbert

why the Lions have this window towin right now. Because there aren't these

great quarterbacks in the NFC, right, Jalen Hurts, He looks like he's
pretty good. The forty nine ershave a really good roster, but you
don't have a gauntlet of quarterbacks youhave to go through. So you know,
when the Lions make picks like Gibbsand Campbell and Laporta, and these
are picks to help them win nowbecause they see this window that they have

of trying to win now, andpart of paying Jared Goff if it happens,
is keeping him happy during this windowbecause they whatever it is, this
three four year stretch that they areentering right now, they think they have
an opportunity to do some really bigthings. Well they obviously, well Brad
Holmes loves him, loves Jared Goff. Yeah, well loves Dan Campbell.

Let me put it this way.They really liked him last year. Well,
I think I think Brad, Imean obviously Brad was part of drafting
him, right and brought him here. That was you know, Matthew went
to LA won a Super Bowl andwe got Jared Goff. Yeah, win
win trade though, right, theygot what they wanted. The Lions are

contenders or building they weren't winning anythingwith Stafford, And from brad standpoint,
I've talked you know, with peoplein the Lions about this before. Right,
they looked at Jared Goff as sayinghe was under value. Right.
People had this this view of himcoming from LA because it didn't work out
there and Sean mcvayh had beat himdown and whatever. But they still saw

that there was something there. SoI don't know that they ever saw him
as being you know, those mahomesborrow whatever to your point about them loving
him, I don't think they eversaw him in that light. But they
said he can win here because he'swon before if we do the right things
around him. Right. But theydidn't view him as a stop gap,

the situation that he's coming into thecontract that he had were not tied to
