Okay, day back from the byeHow is how is your bye week?

(01:32):
I see you got a haircut?I did you like it? No?
No, it looks it looks good. Oh I like longer hair. Okay,
all right. I used to havelonger hair, you know. I
know chicks used to dig it back. But now now that I'm an old
man, I gotta I gotta keepit tight. My kids or my wife,
one of them usually give me,gives me a haircut. You don't

(01:53):
pay for a haircut. You don'tgo to a professional. Yeah that is
defensive. Yeah, you're right here, of course I do. Wait,
you don't go to a professional.I have gone to a barber probably you
know, two, three, fourtimes in the last twenty years. See
alligator arms, not reaching for thatwall. It's pay for a hair cut.

(02:14):
Hell no, I got to savemy money. I got two kids.
You know how expensive kids are thesedays. I have to say you're
lucky because you still have a fullhead of hair. That's right, So
you're very fortunate. Yeah, so, but you are going a little gray.
I just noticed that in the Temples. H it's it's you know,
but it's and the beard. Ifyou grow it, have a beard,
you're going to be all gray.I gotta shave that thing because I you

(02:34):
know, it makes me look olderthan I feel. I feel young,
and that's the important thing, especiallycoming off of Bye. I think the
Lions feel young too, and Ifeel young. I'm ready for California this
week? Are you recharged? Didyou get to relax? No? No?
Did you have to work? Youknow? Uh? Look, I
think a lot of people people alwaysask that too, and maybe we talked
about it. Right. Do yougo away for the buy? Sometimes I

(02:57):
do? This week, you know? Or this year the Lions played them,
so it was a little bit shorterby I guess they you know.
Dan Campbell had some availability on Tuesday. With all the things going on with
my kids. I had basketball gameslast Saturday and Sunday, so it was
really just running around with them, trying to get some some yardwork done.
I did put up the Christmas lights. I don't know, maybe you're gonna
get on me. But it was. Now I've seen them driving around.

(03:19):
People put them up. Now afterHalloween. I think that's when people start
putting up the Christmas lights. AndI kind of like it because I go
to work really early in the morning. Yeah, so driving down Orchard Lake,
the lights are up and it's beautiful, you know, Ronda, I
don't turn the Christmas lights on untilafter Thanksgiving. But you're cheap and you
don't want to pay after No,No, no, that's not it.
Maybe maybe a little bit, butthat's not really it. I mean,

(03:42):
I am cheap, I'll admit that, but I don't I put them up
just on a warm day in November. Whenever I have time on a warm
day, that way, go outside. Yeah so I put the I put
the Christmas lights up, most ofthem up the other day, and I'll
wait till after Thanksgiving. We'll putthe tree up after Thanksgiving and you know,
we'll turn them on there save myselfsome money. Okay. So the
lions are back from there by,but they were able to rest and relax.

(04:04):
Yep, they all probably scattered andwere out of town. But teams
other teams were playing. They dogood weeknd of football. It was Eagles.
Cowboys very impressed with the Eagles, especially the last what minute of the
game when they well the Cowboys shotthemselves in the foot with the penalties,
and you know, so Eagles improvedto eight and one, best team in

(04:26):
the league. Dolphins lost to theChiefs in Germany. They can't beat a
team with the winning record, justlike the Lions. Oh, the Lions
beat the Chiefs. Does that count? No, no, no, no,
Travis Kelce, no, Chris Jones. But that was the beginning of
the season that nobody had a winningrecord. That's true, zero and zero.
Look, I you know, fulldisclosure, I did not watch that
game. My son had a basketballtournament Sunday morning, so I didn't really

(04:48):
watch that. But you know, having watched both the Chiefs and the Dolphins
this year, I think it's avalid criticism and it's something Mike McDaniel certainly
addressed after that that game that youknow, team zero and three to get
get where they want to go,they're going to have to beat those teams.
And Rond I think you raise apoint about the Lions where they haven't.
I mean, look, they beatthe Chiefs, but they lost to

(05:08):
the Ravens in you know, hugefashion. They lost to the Seahawks,
and they don't really have many otherwinning teams on their schedules. So you
know, that's maybe the one thingthat the critics of the Lions can hold
against them right now is that theyhaven't beaten anyone very good, take casey
out of it because of what wasgoing on, and so how will they
stack up with the Eagles, withthe Cowboys, with the forty nine ers

(05:29):
when that time comes. What's interestingabout the Dolphins is they lead the league
in points scored, and yet theycan't beat a winning It's amazing how they
look so different against a team withthe winning record. Now, I did
watch that game and the Chiefs, you know, they spotted the Chiefs twenty
one points and they did come backscored fourteen and the second half Chiefs couldn't

(05:54):
do anything. But yet Tua getsacked and fumble and everything else. So
and then you had the Ravens. They looked great against the Seahawks. They
did to the Seahawks what they didto the Lions, And I have to
say the Vikings, how impressed.Joshua Dobs the rocket scientist comes in like

(06:15):
Hall gets a concussion the first minuteof the game. So Joshua dobs was
just traded five days ago to theVikings, didn't even practice with the team,
had to come in and he's basicallyintroducing himself to his teammates in the
huddle because he didn't know the nameof his teammates. He didn't know who
anybody was. And look what hedid. Now, that could be flash

(06:39):
in the pan, don't you think, like, well, you know,
at first, it was a greatclip on social media of him in the
offensive line sort of standing around,Hey I do and I'm Joshua. Nice
to me, it is pretty remarkable. I mean, people don't give him
enough credit, or players enough creditwhen they change teams like that, you
know, everything that goes on,especially for a quarterback. I don't think

(07:00):
the Vikings I don't know that itwas flash in the pan because I think
they brought Dobbs in, you know, expecting him to know. I'm saying,
that's certain that the end of thatgame like that. To me,
I think, well, it's alsoagainst the Falcons and they're not very good.
But I just think, like, could that happen again? You know,
something like that happening again? Iguess I should say not flashing the

(07:23):
band. It's few and far between, no doubt, no doubt. I
mean, now you have to playa full game appearances. But look,
the Lions, the Vikings traded forDobbs for a reason, right. They
thought he was a good enough, let's just call it bridge quarterback to get
them through the rest of the season, to keep their playoff hopes alive.
And and I think we saw,you know, the other day, what
they saw and what a lot ofpeople in this league saw when Joshua Dobbs

(07:46):
was quarterback in the Arizona Cardinals earlierthis year. Maybe he's not going to
win a lot of games, buthe's a good enough quarterback that he's not
going to turn the ball over. He's going to get them into the right
play, He's going to make theright decision. And I know Dan Campbell
said Monday, you know, hedid not expect the Vikings to start losing
games. You know, he expectsthem to be in this thing till the
end. And I think, youknow, Dobbs and the Vikings probably you

(08:07):
know, proved that over the weekend, right, And now the Vikings are
five and four. So the Lions, if it stays will be playing teams
with the winning record down the stretchbecause they play the Saints, if I'm
not mistaken. They also improved tofive and four. The Bears are god
awful. I mean now I feltbad. I feel bad for Pagent.
Yeah, it might be justin fieldsthis week. We'll see. The Packers

(08:31):
are not very good. But youknow, look, the I was talking
just a friend in the league theother day, just sort of about the
Lions and you know, what recordmaybe to expect from them down the road.
And you know, I think everyoneagrees the Lions are going to be
favored in every game they play, except for Dallas. Well, they're favored
when they go to San Diego,I mean La, and you know,
maybe not Minnesota depending on what's goingon healthwise with the teams, but just

(08:54):
about every game they play. Butyou know, that Saints game a little
tricky since it's on the road.Saints, and I do think there's something
about, you know, when you'rea team that is fighting for your playoff
life, like the Saints will bein December and the Vikings will be in
December, that's a little bit differenturgency than when you're the Lions. And
maybe you're playing for the one ortwo or three seed and as much pressure

(09:16):
as there is, as much asyou want that, like it's life or
death for some of these other teams. So I do think, you know,
some of those games the Lions willbe playing in that final six will
be difficult games for them. You'relistening to the same old podcast. I'm
Ron de Moss with Iheartsports Network alongwith Dabracatt from the Detroit Free Press,
sponsored by Victory Lane Quick Oil Change. Okay, so I do have to

(09:37):
call us out on something. Whatdo we do? Well, I'm not
gonna call I'm gonna call myself out. Because you can call yourself out.
I'm gonna call myself out. Wetalked about something last week because they traded
for Donovan People's whatever VPJ we'll DonovanPeople's jones. He's still learning the playbook,

(10:00):
and so they really didn't do muchand they should have, I don't
know, they really should have obviouslygotten some defensive help, right absolutely,
And so when we were talking abouttrades and what Brad Holmes was willing to
give up or whatever, this ishow this went. You know, I
think from the Lions standpoint, youknow, you don't want to. They

(10:24):
don't want to. You know, they're not about to open their door and
let another team come ransack their houseof future draft picks because you know,
they they feel like they have anextended window to compete here. And you
look at you know, maybe Ithink maybe there's a lesson in both.
What the rams did they mortgage it? They won a Super Bowl? And
look what happened? Right, there'sgreat? But what are they now?

(10:45):
Nothing? I'm sorry I didn't evenrealize what I said. So I want
to apologize because I'm sure everybody Lionsfans would love the Lions to mortgage the
house for a Super Bowl. Whocare, here's what happens down the road.
You won a super Bowl and forme to say, oh, look
what happened now, they're nothing? They won a super Bowl two years ago.

(11:09):
Yeah, look for scars right now. I mean you're playing for now.
We fans. Fans play for now. People play for now, not
you know what's going to happen nextyear or the year after. So I
think it was horrible for what Isaid, So I want to apologize and
for you to say that too,So we both sounded like it well oh,

(11:31):
well, well, look luckily,Yeah, I mean right, But
I don't think I think we bothrealized. I mean, knowing you well
enough, I think you know mewell enough that we are one hundred percent
with like, go get that superBowl, it's worth it. But the
point was that what are the Ramsnow? And the Lions don't want to
be that. They want to buildsomething sustainable. And I'm with you Rhanda.

(11:52):
I think the Lions had that playerbeen out there to go get a
pass rusher, to go get acornerback, I would have done it.
If I was the Lions, Iwould encourage them, Lions or any team
to do that every time, becausethat's what you're playing this game for,
right. But and so I thinkyou're right. Maybe we some little dumb
in retrospect. It's weird hearing myvoice too as we're sitting here in the
studio. But you know, Idon't think we. I didn't mean it

(12:15):
like that. At least I wouldhave realized that. Of course, your
coworker Carlos had to had to pointit out. And what did he say?
What did he throw back in yourface? Yeah, he said,
what have you always said? Scaredmoney don't make money, right, that's
the old WU Tang line. AndI'm with it, like, you know,
scared money, don't make money. You got to take some chances.
You got to you got no riskat no biscuit, as Bruce Arian says.

(12:37):
Right. And but here's the thing. When when Carlos texted, I'm
like, I have no idea whathe's talking about, you know, because
you were probably just rambling on andI wasn't paying attention. And then I
just came back with, oh,look at them now, you know.
And so I had to go tuneme out exactly like I do all the
time. No, I don't tuneyou out. I listen. I take
your advice occasionally. But when Carlosdid that, and I'm like, I

(13:01):
have no idea, and then Icalled him and I said, Carlos,
I gotta be honest, I probablyreally wasn't listening to Dave. I go,
I'm gonna I'm gonna have to callus out next week. And uh,
you know, so did Carlos sayhe's with you? Because he doesn't
listen to me either, exactly. But I gotta I do appreciate Carlos listening
to the same old podcast. Thankyou very much. But yes, so

(13:22):
see money, thanks bro exactly. So yes, I have to. I
had to call us out. It'sreally not done. Like when you kind
of make a mistake, you kindof don't highlight it. Well I had
to because I own my mistakes andthat was that was egregious. So let's
let's be really clear. It isa okay to risk it to go for

(13:43):
a championship because that's what everyone isplaying. Exactly. So the Rams did
that trade, that Jared Goff,Matthew Stafford trade all those picks. That's
going to go down as the bestwin win trade, I think, exactly
because they won a super Bowl afterwhat they want exactly, and Lions right
now got nothing, nothing but butand you're right, they have nothing yet,
but they're on the right track. And that's why I say this thing

(14:05):
could go down as the best winwin trade of all time because golf looks
like a different quarterback here. Theygot a couple first round picks, even
though you know Jamison Williams hasn't hit. We'll see what happens with this year's
picks. You know, they theycertainly have the right pieces in place to
build a sustainable contender. And Ithink that was the point. That's why
the Lions didn't want someone ransacking theirhouse, because they want to build this

(14:26):
thing long term like some of theyears. Right, but I guarantee you
some of these teams have done.If somebody said, okay, give us
this this for a Super Bowl,Lions would say yes, Okay, so
we're putting that to back. Weagree, Okay, so Lions back practicing.
I found it impressive. Off fiftythree practiced on Tuesday. That's what
a bye week does, right. It rejuvenates everyone. And look, the

(14:50):
Lions are in a good spot healthwise. And I think when you look
at this the schedule, right, they have three games in eleven or twelve
days leading up to Thanksgiving. That'sgoing to be difficult, but that's what
they go through every year. Thenthey get a little mini by and they
come back for the final six.I mean, I think the schedule and
Ronda, we've been saying it sincetraining camp, really since the spring.
The schedule sets up nicely for themto make a run, just based on

(15:13):
where the bye week was, basedon who's on the schedule, based on
the other breaks they have on theschedule. Even this week they play the
Chargers coming off the by The Chargersare coming off a Monday night game,
They're on a short week arrest,so there's a lot of things where fortune
finally may be smiling upon the Lions. Right, and the Chargers crush the
Jets. The Jets are awful.Eight sacks, three fourced turnovers, held

(15:35):
the Jets out of the end zone, and just sixty four yards rushing three
of seventeen on third down. Soyeah, the Chargers, I guess if
you need to get well, playthe Jets because Zach is it Zach Wilson
yees, Yeah, I get theWilsons mixed up is awful. And then

(15:56):
now I want to talk about thisbecause iHeart Aaron Rodgers claims he's coming.
There is no way torn Achilles, right right, you need a full year,
a year in an over a yearto be fully healthy. From that,
he's nuts. But then again, maybe the psychedelics. Maybe that's happened
him. You know, I can'tdiscount it. Yeah, he's in a

(16:19):
dark hut right now trying to figureout if he can come back rehabbing.
Well. Look, I think forhim to say it is one thing,
and that gives everyone hope. Maybeyou know, the team hope, but
I can't imagine the Jets doctors wouldclear him to return in four months or
five months or whatever it's been now, you know, I don't know.
I mean, it really is ayear long injury in a lot of cases.

(16:41):
But you look, Tracy Walker wasback basically going full speed in nine
months. Jeff okudah, you knownine months. Okay, that's nine months.
That's not right, right, Andso that's why I say I don't
think doctors would clear him to play. I mean, I have no idea
what's going on health wise with theleg, but it seems like a leap
of faith. And the other thingis round to your right. I mean,
the Jets have a really good defense, and maybe that's enough to sort

(17:03):
of keep them on the fringes ofplayoff contention. But you're often they're doing
anything they're not going to be.I mean, the AFC is so good.
I can't see them being in themix when he's ready to return,
let's call it Christmas or somewhere aroundthat time. Oh. I think he
would return if they were if theyhad a winning record, you know what
I mean, if they're like twogames under, I think he's like,
you know what, I'm not riskingmy career. You could re injure yourself.

(17:26):
I mean, it would be sosilly to come back unnecessarily unless unless
somewhere in the back of his headhe's like, this is it. I
just want to have one more, you know, so I can be the
hero. But look, I thinkyou know, contractually, if I remember
right, he's he's I think therewas there was something that he and the
Jets did that that you know,is going to keep them in New York
for one more season. And soagain I would be surprised just based on

(17:49):
where I think the Jets would beand based on what we all know about,
you know, the rehab from anAchilles, if he comes back to
play this year, but you know, don't put it past them. I
guess at this point you're listening tothe same old podcast. I'm Ron de
Moss with iHeart Sports Network along withDabrakatt from the Detroit Free Press, sponsored
by Victory Lane Quick Oil Change.Okay, so good news for the Lions.

(18:10):
As obviously on the bye they gothealthy. David Montgomery, Jonah Jackson,
and Frank rag Now all expected back, and I didn't realize that this
would be the first game since thefirst game that the offensive line will be
playing together, and it's going tobe a different I mean, the starter,
you know what I mean. Likeit's for those who haven't you know,
followed it that close out. Thereseven different starting lineups on the offensive

(18:33):
line in eight games for the Lions, and that week one lineup that was
Vytie hell Tie at right guard. And then he got hurt. So he's
been coming off the bench, soto speak, right, Graham Glasgow,
you know, Dan Campbell said onWednesday, Graham Glasgow was the new starter
at right guard. I think everyoneknew that. But he's great. Bye
Tie, right, I Like hekind of you said, you know,

(18:56):
he's still working to get back.I mean, the reality is is that
you know, Vye Tie has orwas he craising Glasgow? I couldn't,
was he No, he said goodthings about Glasgow, but he just said,
you know, Vitai is still workingto come back. You know,
the reality is is that Viti hashe struggled to come back from this knee
injury. You know. I meanwhen the Lions needed a replacement in the
game last week, it was DanSkipper that they put in over Vitie because

(19:19):
that's still on the team. That'swhere his health is at this point,
where vity just can't he can't getright. So Glasgow was the best course
of action. Right now, he'splaying really good football. He started six
games. He's played more snaps thanevery offensive lineman but Penay Sewell and Frank
greg Now, so it's important tokeep him on the field. Well,
Jonah Jackson, he's back and theyyou guys talked to him in the locker

(19:45):
room the other day and and uh, well, he's just glad to be
back. Feels good. I wasgetting some heavy fomo that was getting bad.
So, uh, I'm so excitedto be back out there with the
guys. I love that he said. Fomo. Yeah, do you get
like when your friends are when youwere younger, when your friends went out
but you couldn't, did you getfomo which means fear of missing out anyone

(20:07):
that didn't know. Yeah, probablywhen you're younger, you know what I
mean. I don't I don't rememberany specific cases, but I think there's
a lot of like, man,I'm not I'm not going to that party
in time. I got something goingon, Like what's going to happen.
Who am I going to miss outon? What? What? What are
your femail is going to be there? Yeah? You know, I think
there's a lot of that that goesthrough your head when you're young. But
look as you get old like me, now you're just no. I have
no And in fact, I tellmy kids that all the time, like,

(20:30):
look, take it from experience,Like you're worried about missing out on
something, You're not missing out onanything. I said the same thing.
I realized, Now, Zach, did you do you have fomo? I
mean you're young, so you havepomo. So you always think you're missing
out on something. Literally, ifthere is a Lions game going on,
I fear that I'm missing out whenI'm not tailgating. Okay, but what

(20:52):
about like parties and going out withyour friends, like if you can't go
or yes sometimes but more for likesporting, I guess you're a loser.
Anyway, I realized, no,you're not. I realized that I didn't
have fomo because I realized if Iwas when you're young, you're talking about
it. Yeah, I realized Inever had it. You want to know
why, because if I wasn't there, it probably wasn't fun, you know,

(21:17):
And yeah, well, because Irealize I'm like, because there are
so many, you know, alot of things, like even now,
because I get up so I can'tdo and then I realize you wake up
the next day and it's like,I didn't miss anything. I think we
all come to that realization at somepoint in our life and maybe there's something
that happens, or you just kindof be like, what, you know,
I didn't miss out it. Imean, it's gonna be the same

(21:38):
thing next week. It's gonna bethe same people hanging out at the same
part at someone else's house. Sowhat really do you miss? But I
wonder for a professional athlete, ifit is fomo, if they're hurt and
they're just watching on the sidelines,or they're not even on the sidelines.
You can't even be on the sidelines. You're home, you're in upstairs.
You know that you you feel likeyou're missing out because you're in the action.

(22:00):
So is it a different kind ofFOMO. Well, I think some
of it too, might be fearof being replaced on someone. Well,
you know, I don't know ifthat was it with Jonah, but I
mean the offensive line is playing prettygood football. Graham Glasgow's filling in.
You know, Kyoti's playing you know, could he be Vye tie and be
like, no, we're gonna stickwith this guy. We'll work in.

(22:21):
All of a sudden, Colby Soresdeale, the fifth round pick is in there
starting, and you know, peoplein the front office get to say,
hey, well, maybe Colby canbe our starting guard for us next year.
So I think that does enter themind of professional athletes. I don't
know if that was the case exactlywith Jonah, and Jonah's a pretty you
know, he's a pretty honest guy. I can say that if that was,
but I do think, you know, it's I mean, that's what

(22:42):
the business is in professional sports. So I do think that's the case in
Ronda. I've said this about theLions run too. I mean, as
we've talked about the you know, the the support they've had on the road
and the fans, even the crowdsthey've had at home. Like, to
me, some of that is fomo, Like people just this is a Lion
sees and that everyone thinks and hasthought is going to be a really good

(23:03):
season, and people want to bea part of it, Like fear of
missing out because if they go onand do something, if they win a
playoff game, if they make theSuper Bowl, everyone wants to be a
part of it. And so Iyou know, maybe there's a maybe there's
a good fomo too, because that'sthat's really helped. I think these crowds,
well yeah, because they want toget on that hype train. They
don't want to miss it. Ithought we retired that. No. Well

(23:25):
no, I mean I'm saying atthe beginning, you know you at the
beginning, you have to you hadto get on the hype train, right
because you don't want to miss out. So everybody, I need a ticket,
I need a ticket, right exactlyexactly steerage anyway. Yeah. But
okay, So Jonah Jackson's back,David Montgomery, are they Joe David Montgomery

(23:47):
thigh in? Was it a thigh? Ind? No, I can't remember.
He's had a few injuries. Okay, So he's going to be back.
So just to clarify and that ishe definitely going to be back.
I think that's the only one thatthey just have to make sure on.
You know, he that's a thingyou can't get hit. I mean,
that's the top the rib because itwas a fracture, so it was worse

(24:08):
than just it was torn cartilage andbruise ribs. There are a couple of
things that he was dealing with, and I know, you know from talking
to Dan, Dan said Wednesday, right that the important day was going to
be Thursday. The Lion's practice Tuesday. This week off Wednesday, physical practice
Tuesday, come back Thursday, Friday. No setbacks exactly, and so it's
just just a function of you know, making sure there's there's not a lot

(24:30):
of pain when he comes back onThursday, and it's something he can deal
with. Okay, So do youthink David Montgomery and Jamior Gibbs I'll split
carries or more for Gibbs because theway he played before the bye. Yeah,
that's a really good question, andthank you for once. Uh No,
no, I honestly, it's areally good question. It's something that
I've I've wrestled with a little bithere as to how what do the Lions

(24:52):
do to divvy up that running backworkload, because you know, when they've
played three games together, so Gibbsand Montgomery and Montgomery has almost double the
amount of touches in those three games. Yeah, so I don't think that
that balance stands. I think it'sgoing to be closer to a fifty to
fifty split, But I don't Idon't think the Lions are going away from
David Montgomery and what we saw earlythis year. So you know, if

(25:17):
David is getting twenty touches a game, maybe Gibbs is getting fifteen or sixteen,
you know, I mean, maybethat's sort of a breakdown. Gibbs
will catch a few more passes. But the thing is, I mean Montgomery
is that's how the Lions want toplay, that physical between the tackle style.
But Gibbs is a home run threatevery time he touches the ball,
so you have to get the ballin his hands. Sort of like DeAndre

(25:37):
Swift Jamal Williams last year when theywere healthy in the Lions. Even though
Jamal was a touchdown scorer and rushingfor the yards, they had to get
the ball in Swift's hands. It'sgoing to be the same thing with Gibbs
here in the next over the nextnine weeks. Well, I think coming
out of the buy, would youconsider this the second their second half of
the season, right, Yes,absolutely. There are some things that they

(26:00):
really have to clean up because andit showed in their game struggling in the
red zone, turnovers and starting fastin the third quarter. Yeah. So,
and that's something that you know,Dan Campbell talked about their goals for
December. Well, I know this, by December, we need to be
playing our best football collectively and upto date, like the Chargers, we

(26:25):
need to play our best football game. We still have left so much out
there. And as good as weplayed to get six wins, you know,
we've been able to compliment each other. But yet I would say we
have not played our best football collectivelyoffense, defense, and special teams.
I have to agree with that.I think that's fair. I mean they're
six and two, but you know, apart from a couple of the really

(26:48):
big blowouts they've they've left some meaton the bone. You know, we
talked about that a little bit lastweek. That's a popular thing in fact,
In fact, now that you bringthat up, Yeah, Derek Goff
Again, there's a lot of meboth for offense and defense. I'm sure
they say the same thing that wherewe feel like maybe the Carolina game was
a complete game, but other thanthat, I don't know if we've we've
really had one, and how dowe get you know, closer to that

(27:11):
as the season comes to an end, and no reason to not start this
week and try to put it together, complete game this week as well.
I don't need to get them aT shirt that says meet on the lot
of carnivores, a lot of meeton the bone, meet on the bone,
a lot of meat on the bone. You know, yeah, no,
I mean there's what else can yousay? Again? You two are
sitting next to each other, sothe date is still happening, the romance

(27:33):
back in this really tight studio. The romance is continuing. I love it
well, I mean, like theLions and with I think that's with every
NFL team though, you know, like every NFL team comes away from a
game right and you are always strivingfor perfection. You never get it.
You hear those those sort of platitudesall the time, and but it's it's
the truth. I mean, youknow, if when when you when you

(27:56):
leave as many possessions on the fieldas they did against the Raiders, you
set I mean one what is it? One for five? One for five
in the red zone. Yeah, and you know, I mean it can't
happen against the Chargers. They can't, and it can't if you want to
win, you can't. Justin Herbertand the Chargers offense is significantly better than
what we saw when Josh McDaniels wasstill coach and the Raiders were here on

(28:21):
that Monday night. So absolutely,if you leave the Chargers that many opportunities,
they are going to score some touchdownsand you'll regret it. And I
think that's part of what Dan issaying and what everyone in that organization feels.
When you come away from a gamelike that, as happy as you
are to get a win, youlook at that performance and you say,
man, we should have put upforty against that team, and we weren't
able to do it, and whyweren't we able to do it? And

(28:41):
what can we do to fix that? And a lot of that comes down
to exactly those topics that you mentioned, Ronda, red zone offense, red
zone defense. I think those arethe two big things because that's where all
those points come, right, Andthat's what happens when your head coach is
dissecting every game, going through everyplay everything and coming away with, yes,

(29:03):
we maybe have wins, six havehave six wins, but there are
things that that they need to cleanup, and that was his point.
If you want to continue this ride, you got to clean those things up
or else you know, you're goingto suffer the consequences. But so you're
heading out to LA. Are yougoing out early or you're leaving Saturday?

(29:23):
No? Almost, I'm a Saturdayagain. It's warm, it's La the
and I'll go out to places likethat early and go spend some time on
the beach. But for now,I got my son's got a basketball game
at two o'clock on Saturday. SoI'm your evening flight out. Oh so
you're going out late? So you'rejust heading out, going to the game

(29:44):
and coming back? Are you takingthe red eye back? Red Eye back?
So I'm not spending any time inLA. I don't you know?
These aren't vacations. You know people, you know what, are you going
to go visit your good friend MatthewStafford and Kelly because they're on a by
this week. Oh I didn't realizethey run a bye Yeah, you know
it's it's you know, maybe Ireally when they have their house here and
they have the pool, I knowthey wanted to get rid of the pool

(30:06):
because for the kid's sake and everything, but they were living on a lake.
It made no sense whatsoever. Yeah, now, look, you know
it's a I actually do have somefriends out in LA. Believe it or
not. I have a couple offriends, and you have cool friends that
live in LA. I don't knowabout cool. But where do they live?
Do they live in the in LA? Do they live? You know?
I don't Malibu. I you know, I'll can tell you this story

(30:29):
off the air because I don't wantto get any of these details wrong.
But I do have a friend outthere who he's very wealthy. Let's put
it like that. I don't knowwhere he lives, and maybe because he
doesn't want you to know where, someone meet him up before the game?
Oh good, okay, Yeah, just say hi, you know, catch
up with him a little bit.And one of my daughter's good friends,

(30:51):
they moved out to California for his, you know, the girl's father's job
over the summer, and so maybei'll maybe I'll see him too. So
you know, if I have time, I like to catch up with people.
But my road trips are usually likecatching up on work and catching up
on sleep. Picking are you pickingthe Lions to win. What do you
have on win this game? Isthis a gimme or a milkm or I

(31:11):
do I think this is a tossup, and I haven't made a pick
yet, but if I'm gonna doit right here, I might pick the
Chargers. Look, I don't thinkthe Chargers were We're great watching them on
Monday night, right, I watchedthat game, and even though the Jets
weren't very good, I came awaythinking, like, man, this is
a team that does not get themost out of its talent. And so
in that regard it, you know, I think this is a winnable game

(31:33):
for the Lions. But I justI think there's a couple losses left on
the Lions schedule. You know, they're not going to go fourteen and three
or fifteen and two, and sothis is one of those games when they
play a really good quarterback. Youknow, he's not my homes He's he's
not you know, Lamar, butyou know he's a really good quarterback that
can do some things. And Iyou know, the way the Lions have

(31:53):
played the last couple of weeks,I think they've there's been some opportunities for
some of the opposing offenses in thepast game that they have been hit on,
and so I fear a little bitthat you know, Justin Herbert is
going to take advantage of those. If I'm the lion, so I guess
I'd pick the Chargers in a closeone right now. Okay, Well,
safe travels out to LA. Havea good time. Well you should be

(32:15):
fun weather if nothing else, Yeah, exactly, all right, bye,
