KJR FM. Here's Mike Benton.
Speaker 2 (00:12):
Cracking jets.
Speaker 3 (00:13):
It's coming your way this evening on a Thursday, November thirteenth.

to having it once again tonight, face off at seven

twenty from the top of the broadcast. Tonight post game,
(00:36):
by the way, we are back at Tom's watch Bar
right across the street from Climate Pledge Arena, So come
and join me Alconisky as well for food, friends, beverages, vibes,
big screens, you name it, and more postgame conversation. So
the Crack and trying to get back into the wind Callumn.
We'll talk with John Forsland in just a bit for
more on the state of the Krack and goaltending their
(00:57):
defense and a perceived offensive slump. How worried should we
be about this? John will provide some more insight coming
up on this in just a bit, as the Kraken
looked to go to and zero against Winnipeg this season,
though a pretty challenging test considering the Jets are right
now ten and six, coming off a four to two
victory over the Vancouver Canucks back on Tuesday. Well, the
(01:21):
crack and facing Columbus looking to get out to a
big start with a rookie Ford once again looking to
light the fuse offensively on the cracking side.
Speaker 4 (01:31):
Now Larsen right side, back to the line, Chandler Steven said,
two strides and shoots get his own rebound, fires again
off the back skate a gossee fabreau. It'll bounce below
the goal line as Ted Greaves didn't know where it was,
cracket resetting bits done, couldn't pick it up. Here comes
mart Tenko down the right side.
Speaker 5 (01:50):
Shoots off the crossbar. Oh my goodness, what chaos end
to end here?
Speaker 6 (01:57):
Midway through period one? And now everly well at this
all to the goal.
Speaker 4 (02:01):
And Jack Grees will glove it down. I fancilly over
an ear blue line.
Speaker 7 (02:08):
Look back at the near.
Speaker 4 (02:09):
Side CINERI passing front Mark tenko one play man Matt Murray.
Speaker 6 (02:14):
Shuts it down. Oh what a fantastic pass from general
to the corner.
Speaker 8 (02:18):
You got to that puck first and fired it up
to the front and Marchenko with just a quick ritch
shot on them.
Speaker 6 (02:23):
Eight seven shots cracking laid there. Ben Myers gets most.
Speaker 5 (02:27):
For Winter ten stop Winter is coming, Ryan.
Speaker 4 (02:38):
Winter ten gets it started here in Seattle three seventeen
to play in the.
Speaker 8 (02:44):
First one, nothing cracking. We just talked about how much
I like this fourth line combination. Right now, what into
the ace you get a big safe by Matt Murray.
Speaker 6 (02:52):
The other end goes to Ford line. They go to work.
Speaker 8 (02:54):
Ben Myers picking that fuck up top of the circles.
He's got a lead in the net like you did earlier.
He sells shot and at the last second backhand over
to widgeted one timer pass greaves one nuffing kracking.
Speaker 6 (03:06):
Miche Evans for the high slot, hands it off to
them on tour white ling.
Speaker 4 (03:09):
Blue line shot off the boats. Oh that had more much.
That was a knuckle pucket beat jet reeds.
Speaker 6 (03:18):
Looked like it was gonna.
Speaker 5 (03:19):
Flutter over the.
Speaker 4 (03:20):
Glove, but it kicked the bar in Starrensky right side.
Fantillian from bumped on goal, knocked.
Speaker 5 (03:25):
Down save Marteko Fan Telly shot.
Speaker 4 (03:28):
Off the glove of Matt Murray and they score. Matt
Murray two more inches from a highlight reel SportsCenter same
it goes off the end of his glove and the
Jackets on the power play tie. The game had a
(03:51):
goal apiece. Marchhenko through center. He's got Fantilly. Fantilly gets
by backhand big same by Murray. He goes down and
stones fan Tilly's back and right hand.
Speaker 6 (04:06):
It's Charlie Coyle. He waits for the signal. Coil picks
up the pucket. He'll bring it near side.
Speaker 4 (04:13):
Coil into the circle, back to the Hashbargs low slot
shot off the bar. He scores and the Columbus Blue
Jackets take the extra point in the shootout final two
to one.
Speaker 3 (04:27):
So a tough way for that to end in a
two to one Kraken shootout loss to Columbus out shot.
Speaker 2 (04:32):
By the way thirty four to twenty three, which gives.
Speaker 3 (04:35):
You the indication of how good Matt Murray was in
that game. He's still looking for his first career win
with the Kraken. But played well enough to get it
thirty three saves on thirty four shots he had and
providing more answers as far as goaltending depth in behind
Joey Decord, who was still sidelined. Nonetheless, the Kraken unable
(04:56):
to cash in on two power play opportunities and generating
just fun five shansn nets in period three to one,
as well in sudden depth over time John Fororzland coming
up in just a bit before that. The Cracket holding
an optional practice on Wednesday at crack In Community ice Plex,
and head coach Lane Lambert spoke with the media afterward
(05:17):
with more on his views with the Krackt offense and
their direction heading into this Thursday's matchup.
Speaker 7 (05:24):
So last night after the game, you were talking a
bit about, you know, the chances that you guys did
have earlier in the game that marn't converted.
Speaker 4 (05:31):
I mean, how do you go about getting guys to convert?
Speaker 6 (05:35):
Is it more focused on the on the moments?
Speaker 4 (05:37):
Is it like how do you.
Speaker 9 (05:42):
Yeah, Well, no, I mean there's uh, you know, look
at if you look at the shot attempts we've had.
Let's just go back to the last three games. Uh,
you know, We've had X number of shot attempts, about
one hundred eighty seven to be exact, and you know
(06:02):
we've only got we've had over one hundred of those
either blocked or missed the net. So there's your there's
your formula for you know, having success is to get
more of those attempts on net. And you know, we
have great structure in our defensive zone. We need to
get better structure in the offensive zone. There's certainly some
(06:25):
things that we can do. There's things that we talked
about this morning, and we just have to keep trying
to build on it. But you know, we can't defer
to passing. We've got to have a shot first mentality
and we've got to get pucks through. You know, forty
four percent of the pucks that we shoot getting on
net isn't a good enough percentage.
Speaker 5 (06:45):
You mentioned the shots blocked if we don't get on debt.
Speaker 6 (06:48):
Does that have anything to do with the location of
the shots or is it more the shots are taked
for where they are, but then they get on it.
Speaker 9 (06:55):
Uh, there's I mean, you're always going to have some
shots blocked and you're always going to have missnets. It's
that you know, that's just the way it is. But
I think that we you know, and we we've talked
about it. I think we take too long to get
shots away, and uh, you know, fractions and I'm talking
fractions of seconds are the difference between somebody getting a
(07:15):
stick on it and going into the stands or us
getting a shot with a potential rebound and two or
three cracks at it from there. So you know, there
certainly is a way for us to upgrade those opportunities.
Speaker 6 (07:30):
In your experience and you've worked with, you know, multiple.
Speaker 5 (07:33):
Teams, Why why you guys has.
Speaker 6 (07:36):
To take to shoot?
Speaker 8 (07:37):
Is it because there are tends to be unselfish players
at times in commonality.
Speaker 9 (07:43):
Yeah, that's a bit of a you know that, that's
probably the biggest thing is there. You know, they're being
unselfish and they're trying to set their teammate up. We
want them to be selfish. We talked about that this morning.
If you're selfish as a shooter, if you're selfish as
an offensive player, that just means you're you know, you're
going to the net. You're putting pucks to the net
(08:03):
and it's good for the team. So you know, that's
it's a good observation by you, and I think that
we just have to stop deferring and start taking more shots.
Speaker 5 (08:14):
Looked like Shane was Berkeley's playing last night. Did you
play from Shane and then spot last night? Maybe even
something you want.
Speaker 6 (08:21):
To see from him and goes forward?
Speaker 9 (08:23):
Yeah, I thought, you know, we're talking about being a shooter.
Shane writes a shooter, you know. And I thought he
had a couple of good opportunities last night, and we
wanted to use his speed down the wing and and
you know, maybe not have to come two hundred feet
from an uh you know, from a centerman standpoint. So
(08:45):
we'll see how we go in where this goes from here.
Speaker 4 (08:47):
And never is what he stacked a couple of good
games where I just what you liked about how he's
handled the year so far, the start off.
Speaker 9 (08:54):
Yeah, he's been well, they've all been really professional about it.
And you know, he's gotten an opportunity here and he's
played well. You know, we haven't given him any run support,
so to speak, but he's played well enough to have,
you know, have better results than he's gotten.
Speaker 8 (09:11):
Lane Ben Myers game last night, I had his system
lader and gold the shots in a couple of hits.
Speaker 6 (09:17):
Two questions, what's your coaching staff say to give both
his game last night?
Speaker 1 (09:21):
And was there anything specific on.
Speaker 6 (09:23):
The kind ofly he took the net as.
Speaker 9 (09:26):
Far as feedback that he had, Yeah, I mean, as
far as as far as coaching staff, we want to
keep playing the way he is. He he's using his speed,
he's in you know, he's in on puck's on the
fore check, you know, and he's he's owning the puck
in the in the offensive zone as well.
Speaker 6 (09:46):
You know.
Speaker 9 (09:47):
I mean he took one of the net in the
first period. He was coming off the wall taking one
of the net when he made the play to Winterton,
and you know, he obviously took one to the net.
I don't like penalties two hundre feet away from our nett,
but I can live with those penalties when we're taking
pucks of the net.
Speaker 8 (10:04):
Heart, what do you want to see from Janyuan as
he kind of waits for another opportunity.
Speaker 7 (10:09):
To get back in the line.
Speaker 9 (10:10):
Well, he's got to stay ready. That's the first thing.
That's one of the biggest things. It's not just for
a younger player, it's for any player who hasn't played
for you know a few games. Is you got to
stay ready. You got to make sure you're ready and
you're in game shape. That's step one. Step two is
when he gets back in you know his detail, his
defensive play, and I want him to do what I'm
(10:32):
talking about with everybody else. I want to use his shot.
Speaker 2 (10:34):
All right, Johnny is back from his national TV adventure.
Speaker 3 (10:37):
Is going to have him back as always, especially here
where he's always welcome on and cracking this morning. Of course,
I play for the crack at Hockey Network NHL on TNT,
Amazon Prime as well, and tour guide for color Analyst
and our pal Eddie Old Chik back in town as well, Johnny,
how are you? I heard dinner was on the menu
and I noticed in this time ed Zoe paid for it.
Speaker 7 (11:00):
He did tonight. I got to get him credit. We
kind of trade off that way, and tonight was his.
He kind of set me up. He told me last
night that he wasn't going to pay, so I was
ready to pay. I put my pennies aside, but he
broke down. So it's all good, Mike. All good?
Speaker 2 (11:19):
Is ed Zoe medium mersdy kind of guy?
Speaker 7 (11:21):
No, he's completely well done.
Speaker 2 (11:23):
Oh, cook to perfection, more.
Speaker 7 (11:26):
More well done than I've ever seen another human being
well done. Me, it has to be basically shoe leather,
and he's happy see more on the rare side.
Speaker 3 (11:38):
That sounds like my wife who loves it basically like
its charred black and wants to make sure everything is cooked.
I liked a little bit of tenderness, like right smack
in the middle. I yet to have some juices kind
of oozing out of it.
Speaker 7 (11:51):
Yeah. No, I lean more rare, and he is a
If he gets a prime rib, he will ask for
the end cut as well done as possible. Well, then
it makes no bones about it.
Speaker 9 (12:04):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (12:05):
Well, then again you have the juicus here to dip
it in and it's all good. It's all good, but
great to have you back ed. Zoe back in downtown
as well and full house. It seems like here for
the press box coming up against Winnipeg, and I kind
of lead into this here first off with the goaltending
picture and it seems as if Joey de Cord getting
back on the ice. That's a step in the right direction.
(12:26):
But in the meantime they've had a jugglest thing with
Matt Murray. Then Philip Grubauer getting a win in Saint Louis.
But it really just seemed as if we have seen
Matt Murray turn the clock back a little bit here,
and it couldn't have come right now at a better time.
I think at this point of the season. What's your
(12:46):
outlook right now on this goaltending picture.
Speaker 7 (12:48):
Well, you hope that obviously, I hope it continues. I mean,
it's funny because we talked about the three goalies and
the oddity of it all, and maybe it takes a
roster spot away from another player, skater forward, a d
that you might need. You know, that was earlier in
the season, and whether or not there's going to be,
you know, enough work for these guys. Are they going
(13:09):
to sit way too long? And you know, and Joey
played every game of that homestand you know, he got
to a situation where okay, now because of need, they're
thrust into duty. Both guys I thought played really well
on the weekend on the road. Obviously I didn't see
the game against Columbus. It's seeing clips. I read about it.
I've heard about it, and yes he did. He did
(13:29):
a great job. Matt Murray did a great job, so
did Grubauer and Saint Louis. It'll be interesting to see,
you know, what holds up, you know, tonight and who
gets the start. You know, I would think it's going
to be Matt Murray against a much more difficult opponent
in my opinion in Winnipeg. We'll see and then the cord,
you know, with a sighting at practice. That's interesting because
(13:52):
you know, we don't get a lot of information, but
some of the information that I was getting from people
that I trust was kind of negati about Joey's the
duration of his injury. So this is good news to
see that he was able to get on the ice
and go through whatever he did. That's nothing but a positive.
But in the meantime, I think short term for the fans,
(14:13):
it's a Grubauer Murray situation and it's just going to
be up to Lane to figure out, you know, which opponent,
which game and so on as they move forward.
Speaker 3 (14:21):
And because it seems as if with the way that
this team plays, goaltending has to be a big slice
of the pie as far as success, we've seen this
and part of this is also because they have been
struggling to score goals for this year, they are toward
the bottom of goals scored for per game, and they're
right now last in the NHL at five on five
goals for the entire season. Lane Lambert is set after
(14:44):
practice and it was optional on Wednesday. He wants the
players to play with more of a selfish approach. I mean,
and this could go between how some guys are just
wired to pass the puck but you know just before shoot,
or whether they're just coming off a plane previous assistance
where it's a little more east west of line. But Johnny,
what's your read here on the cause as of this
(15:05):
right now? In the direction that they maybe have to go,
I would.
Speaker 7 (15:09):
Just tell everybody to cool your jets and don't get
too worked up about the fact that they can't score.
I don't think that's a surprise. Based on the players
that they have, the type of team that it is,
we know a lot of things need to be in
play for them to be successful. The most important thing
for this team is to play a strong defensive game
(15:31):
that grinds the opponents into the ice, supported by capable goaltending.
If they continue to do that, I think the goals
will come. It's going to be challenging. It's going to
probably take a lot more patience that maybe people have
right now. And know there's people after the Columbus game
that are ready to jump off a bridge because they
couldn't score against Jeff b Reeves in that game, against
(15:52):
a team that played the night before and a flu
and sickness going through their room and all of that.
I get it. But the style of play that Lane
has put down here will win, and the Kraken need
to just embrace it. And I think the players have
and I think it's interesting. You know he talks about
getting in better position offensively to get more shot volume. Well,
(16:14):
I think what they could do is basically simplify their
offensive game and it will. It will do them a
world of good because you know, when I watch them
play offensively, sometimes they psych a little bit too much.
They look for a scene pass that might be you know,
either riskier impossible. They're looking for perfect plays. So it's
(16:35):
meat and potatoes defensively, meat and potatoes offensively that means
low to high point shots get to the net period.
And if they do that, I think they'll score. And
if they continue to play a solid brand of hockey,
because every time you want to talk about, well they're
at the Barn League offensively, Well, they're at the upper
end of it in terms of their defensive play. So
(16:58):
you know, I looked at some fancy numbers last week
and yes, you know, goals for expected not so good,
goals for against expected the best. So that's okay. You
can't get into where it was last year. As soon
as you get risky, it's trouble. So I think we
just have to fans sit back and let them play
(17:18):
their system and go through this process and see how
it plays out.
Speaker 3 (17:22):
I'll add to that as well. They've given up exactly
a grand total of one five on five goal, one
five on five goal now over the last one hundred
and twenty minutes.
Speaker 2 (17:32):
That's not too shabby, and that.
Speaker 7 (17:34):
I'm glad you brought that up, because that's a metric
that I look at all the time, and goal for
goals against five on five is a key stat and
it usually leads you to a good conclusion, you know,
and that's what you look for in any statistic conclusion.
Otherwise it's just a number that kind of you get
thrown out there and it sound intelligent and you start
wirping up numbers, but basically it's got to lead you
(17:57):
down a good path and five on five. Will remember,
in the second year this franchise, when they did make
the playoffs, they led the league in five on five.
Speaker 3 (18:05):
Goals, Johnny, what difference does it make with Jared McCann
and Freddie Goodrow out right now?
Speaker 7 (18:11):
Well, it hurts them, you know, with Freddie number one
face off wise, and this team is severely challenged to
win face offs, and it's going to be the case
and Chandler Stevenson has to take way too many face offs.
Goudreau and the lineup will alleviate that issue. He's a
right handed shot, which gives the coach an option, you know,
(18:33):
in certain circumstances to get him on his power side.
When you go at it here, you basically have Shane
Wright as your only right handed option. And Shane's not
there yet. He's not very good in the face off circle.
He's going to improve as he gets older and gets stronger,
but it's not there. Beniers is holding his own, but
he's fifty to fifty at best, usually around forty seven percent.
(18:53):
Stevenson is an excellent faceoff man, but needs to have support,
you know, and Ben Myers and Ben Myers and his
line mates played very well against Columbus. You know, that
was that was good. So that's a positive, that yeah,
And that's a yeah. And he's a good player, you know,
he's he's one of these guys that you know, it's
it's unfortunate that he's just kind of typecast as a tweener,
(19:15):
a and a call up and a guy that can
go up and down between the NHL and the EHL
and made basically an HL veteran guy for that purpose only.
But I always felt in the two camps that I've
seen him that he deserved more of an opportunity than
he was given. So this is good for him. This
is good that he's he can move, he's an excellent skater,
he's an outstanding college player. I mean, he is not
(19:37):
too far away from being, you know, in a in
a group of twelve at the NHL level on a
regular basis, and he's proving that he wants to stick around.
So good for him. We'll see when they when they
get healthier. But you know what, the way the schedule is,
it's going to be a revolving door with injuries all
year for every team around the league.
Speaker 3 (19:56):
I also love what Lane Lambert said Johnny about Ben
Meyer the other night, and he was smack with a
goaltender interference penalty driving the net and that will just
drive coaches while pull their hair out when you take
a penalty two hundred feet away from your own net.
And he said so as well. But he can always
live with those penalties because Ben Myers is doing what
(20:19):
everyone has been commissioned on this team to do, and
that to make a B line right toward the front
of the nets right.
Speaker 7 (20:25):
And again, this is a process because for some players
on this roster it doesn't come naturally and it has
to kind of get extracted out of them and it
might take, you know, half a season. Hopefully not, but
maybe it will for them to do it in numbers
and to a man, and that's what you're driving for.
(20:46):
So good on him for playing that way in his role.
He has to, so it's a little bit easier in
other roles with other guys who are National Hockey League
players are looking at careers and bodies of work and
contracts and all these different things. They need to do it,
(21:07):
you know, And that's why I think if they simplify
their game offensively. As they're playing defensively, the goals are
going to start to come. But it's not going to
be an easy way to play. And you know, most
of the teams go through a situation like this.
Speaker 3 (21:21):
Berkeley Catton is past a nine game mark, now three
assists so far, still looking for his first NHL goal.
He's been playing up, he's been playing down, he's been
playing out there for the last minute of regulation, all
over the place. At this point, Johnny, what do you
make out of Berkeley Catton at this point in the NHL?
Speaker 7 (21:41):
Getting better? But still, you know, the circumstances have given
him an opportunity to be here, and with a team
that doesn't have a skill need with McCann being out
of the lineup, a team that had it has a
little bit more of a pedigree as far as a
playoff team that can be considered that way going into
the season. Then maybe maybe there's not a spot for him,
(22:06):
but there is, and you can see within games, although
it comes and it goes to be fair, you know,
you can see the framework of what's going to be
a very dynamic player if he hits his stride. You
can also see, to be fair, a player that gets
separated from the puck, that gets lost out there a
(22:26):
little bit. And to be fair to him, he's not
really playing his natural position. He's played the majority of
his tenure here on the wings. But if they do
play him down the middle, there's a risk that's in play,
and so you know, it's difficult. And then the style
of play that the Krack and are employing, it's hard
for him as a nineteen year old, you know, because
(22:48):
he's not physically mature yet, so he needs to get
stronger and he's trying to do this at the NHL level, which,
to be fair to him, is not easy. So it
is what it is. I hate that phrase, but that's
what it is. You have to kind of live with
it because there is no option for him in the
American Hockey League, and I guess there really isn't an
option in junior hockey either. For right now, you know
(23:10):
here he is. As we get closer to the holidays,
we'll see what's in play in terms of World Juniors
and all of that. They're going to burn a year.
I think the team would never have done it if
they're not comfortable doing it. Burn a year of his
contract and just get them, get them move along. And
if you listen to Lane every day, which you do
because you're there every day doing all that work, you
hear him kind of be very guarded with how he
(23:32):
talks about him. He talks about him glowingly in terms
of potential. But I think what Lane's trying to get through,
and I want the fans to understand that, is that
they're trying to coach them through situations while they're trying
to win games. That's hard. That's hard on the coaching
staff and the player.
Speaker 3 (23:48):
Yep, yeah, for sure. And we even heard from Lane
Lambert two days ago before the first game of the
homestand here where there was more of a guarded approach
as far as his long term picture. But he loves
his foundation as far how he can move the plot.
But it is going to be certainly of work in
progress here with them at nineteen years of age. And
funny enough, how this game just made change next year
here with the AEL thing, and a guy like Jack
(24:11):
O'Brien is all of a sudden eligible to go there after.
He has been tearing up the Ohl this season.
Speaker 7 (24:16):
Right, and so you know that's the beauty of that situation.
But every player's different. Every players in a different circumstance.
I do think with Cat and it's more clear for
him in terms of where he's at than say where
it was a couple of years ago for Shane Right.
I think a lot that was going on with Shane
Wright when he was kind of in the same position
(24:37):
as psychological, you know, and the team doesn't have to
worry about that. You know, he had right coming off
his draft year and the so called slip the floor
and all these different things, and there's a lot of
media attention in Canada about Shane Wright at that time
and where he was going to play. Berkeley can basically
be comfortable in his own skin, you know, with this organization,
(24:57):
they're going to do everything possible to insulate him and
make sure that it works. I think if everybody's honest
and they got in a room, which they're not going
to be, but if they were, you know, they would say,
I wish we didn't have to do this with this
player at this time playing in the National Hockey League,
but they are, and I think as time marchers on,
like I said before, there's going to be injuries. So
(25:19):
I think because he does have a skill set that
they desperately need. It's a grinding team and there's not
a lot of prolific offensive skill on the roster. He
is supposed to be that moving forward, and you can
see it in his toolbox what he brings. You can
see that he has that. It's just it's not going
(25:41):
to be consistent at this level.
Speaker 3 (25:43):
Kraken and Jets coming up in the second matchup of
the season. Winnipeg is ten and six coming out there
win over the Vancouver Canucks, and a lot of folks
were talking about the word regression when it came to
this team. I'm not so sure about that yet here
at this point, they got Jonathan Taves and it seems
(26:03):
like he's now turning back the clock on his own game.
Adding to that, Kyle Connor, Mark Schifley and Josh Morrissey
still doing their thing.
Speaker 2 (26:12):
What's you read here on the challenge here for this evening, Johnny, Well.
Speaker 7 (26:15):
It's going to be a very good challenge because the
Winnipeg Jets play the same way the Kraken Air attempting
to play, and I don't want to be disrespectful, but
with more talent, and that's the difference. They have an
unbelievably world class goaltender who keeps them where they need
to be every single night because he plays almost every
(26:36):
single night.
Speaker 6 (26:37):
Yes, in Connor Hellibuck.
Speaker 7 (26:38):
And then you have this core of talent led by Schifley.
You get to Connor Ballardi, get these guys up front,
you get to Josh Morrissey in the back end, and
then you go through their lineup and it gets heavy
with Adam Lowry, who's just come back from injury as
one of the best captains you know in the National
Hockey League in my opinion, a guy who can play
(27:01):
basically a three seed position but do it at an
elite level. He's heavy, strong, doesn't make a lot of
defensive mistakes. Jonathan Tave's unbelievable story as a legend who's
making a comeback, and now with Lowry coming back into
their lineup, Caves will slot in a better spot than
he's tried to play for the first six to seven
weeks or so as the second center. So you know,
(27:23):
they have an unbelievable team game that's in lockstep defensively,
and then when they need a power play goal, they
get it. When they need a game breaking play, they
get it. And they will go, they will check for
their chances, they will skate with you. They can play
any way you want. They're just in a tough neighborhood.
That Central Division is really hard and they're in the
(27:47):
same spot. They always are top three team depending on
where they finish, and they won the President's Trophy last year.
But Pop three team. But there's Colorado and there's Dallas,
and then there's the other teams there too. But that's
a tough neighborhood. But that's theirs. But this is this
is a great test coming off the Columbus game to
see if the Kraken won't break down and just stay
(28:08):
true to their consistency and how they want to play
and that cave into panic and try to score. If
you try to score the wrong way against this team,
they will be game over.
Speaker 3 (28:18):
Trust me right right if you if you try to
cheat the system, they will come back and bite you.
We've seen that over and over and over with this
Winnipeg team. Well dinner with that, Zoe's all done. We
have showed this up enough as well, and Johnny and
broadcast terms nine to seven o'clock. Let's see, shall we
looking forward to it? Thanks again, my man, yep.
Speaker 7 (28:38):
Great to be back in town. Look forward to the
next few games now. I don't think I miss a
game with the Kraken for three four weeks now, which
is great, and look forward to it. And let's just
hope that this continues. And again it's it's it can
be frustrating, and I think that's the one message I
want to leave with everybody is that the style of
play can be frustrating, but it's a good way to play.
(29:01):
It is a good way to place it the right
way to play, and Lane knows this and you just
got to trust it.
Speaker 3 (29:07):
For now, all right, Johnny, You're the best. Appreciate as always,
John Forsland tvp IF. I play voice of course on
the KRACK and Hockey Network NHL on TNT, Amazon Prime
as well hanging out with us here. The krakeing in
matchup two coming up against Winnipeg Jets have always been
a tough out. The Crack and record right now three
six and four and that three nothing win they had
(29:28):
over Winnipeg in the first matchup of the year, the
Cracking had two empty net goals plus also Joey de
Kordad thirty two saves in net for the win. We'll
see if the Kraken had to approach this similar or
differently against Winnipeg tonight. Also there look at to even
their record at home right now with just one win
unfortunately in six tries, yet forcing overtime on three separate occasions,
(29:52):
with Winnipeg eventually settling for an OT point. Jordan Everley
right now leads the Kraken against Winnipeg, had to headline
time in scoring with twenty one points in thirty games.
Speaker 2 (30:04):
He leads the.
Speaker 3 (30:04):
Cracking right now with five goals on the season, all
have come at even strength. So the Kracking looking to
make it two wins and two tries against Winnipeg, who
was out to a great start so far this season.
We'll talk more about it this evening at six point
thirty for pregame coverage served up by Frost Brewed Corps
Light Choose Chill opening face off a little past seven
o'clock Pacific time. EVERGA fits you Al Koniski of course
(30:27):
on the call. I'll join you of course for pregame,
intermission and postgame coverage. As always, we certainly hope that
you can join us. Big thank you again to John
Forslund and for kracking this morning. I'm Mike Benton. Enjoy
the game and have a happy Thursday.
