Speaker 1 (00:00):
And the Kracking power play Lord.

Speaker 2 (00:02):
This is the krak Postgame Show, brought to you by
Toyota of Olympia. Now for an in depth look at
your Kraken hockey. It's the post game. I'm the Global
Credit Union Kraken Audio Network back.

Speaker 3 (00:15):
Gets out of Climate Plage Arena.

Speaker 4 (00:17):
It's a five to three Seattle Kraken win over the
Winnipeg Jets. Everet fits you, Al Kaniski ride Shotgun Cracking.

Speaker 3 (00:26):
They're eighth win of the.

Speaker 4 (00:27):
Season, now up to twenty one points for the time being,
back in third place in that Pacific Division. And this
was a game I think the Kraken really needed for
a variety of reasons. Number One, back to back losses,
back to back two to one losses, including a shootout
loss on Tuesday. You get five goals here tonight, which
is your highest goal total of the season, ten different

(00:50):
players recording points. Multipoint mikes tonight from the captain, Jordan Everley,
Matty Vaniers, and Vince Dunn who led the way with
the goal.

Speaker 3 (00:59):
And to assist.

Speaker 4 (01:00):
Everything that could go right did go right, with the
exception of Coppolocago leaving this game earlier, but all overall
I think this was probably one of the best games
of the year for Seattle.

Speaker 5 (01:11):
Well and holding this Winnipeg Jets team, it is very
talented to single digit shots on goal eight in the
first period, two before in the first period, but they
held them to nine in the third period. They're being
down for most of that third. That's impressive against that team.
They've got all kinds of talent. They had the power
play goal, they had the breakaway, blocking a lot of shots.

Speaker 6 (01:32):
The Cracker work tonight. How about all.

Speaker 4 (01:33):
Time coming into this game, the Cracking were three, six
and four against the Winnipeg Jets. Nine of those games
decided by a single goal. Cracking one and two. Last
year they were zero three to two in their last
five coming in. Now they've won two in a row
against the Winnipeg Jets, So maybe they found a bit
of the secret sauce against Winnipeg this season.

Speaker 6 (01:54):
I mean, I don't think it's just Winnipeg.

Speaker 5 (01:56):
I think the secret sauce is that when this team
decides to grind, when this team decides to win puck battles,
board battles, battles in front of the net, they're very
hard to play against. And I think That's probably a
consistent message you'd hear from other teams about playing the
Seattle Cracking is they're a very difficult team to play against.
And it's not because they're going to out hit you.
They were out hit tonight twenty to fourteen. A pick

(02:17):
is a very physical team, but those puck battles are
different along the boards, those wear over the course of
the sixty minute game.

Speaker 3 (02:23):
And you mentioned grinding.

Speaker 4 (02:24):
In the last few games, that fourth line, Ty Karsha,
Ben Myers, Ryan Winterton, they really have been the straw
that stirs this team's drink. And I remember, going into
this third period had challenged you. I said, I would
like to see more from the rest of the lineup.
Two goals from Emberley, two assists from Matty Beaneers, another
assist from Done, an assist from Chandler Stevenson, a goal

(02:47):
from Elliot Tolbynen and.

Speaker 3 (02:48):
Assist from Mason Marshman as well.

Speaker 4 (02:50):
So your big players, your main top six guys, all
chipping in offensively in this third period.

Speaker 6 (02:56):
Yeah. Absolutely, and that's a big part of it.

Speaker 5 (02:59):
I think that, you know, we talked a little bit
about the challenge in the face offf dot it got
better over the course of the game. Channeler Stephenson specifically,
who was struggling against Shipley, ended up the game at
forty one percent, but for a period there it was
really low because he was battling with him, and he
found a way to start winning some of those draws.
Kracking found a way to find the back of the

(03:19):
net there later in the game as well.

Speaker 4 (03:21):
Five to three Cracking win over the Winnipeg Jets. How
about the play Philip Grubauer here this evening, he saw
twenty six shots steered clear, twenty three of them.

Speaker 6 (03:34):
There's my math thing.

Speaker 3 (03:35):
Yeah, steered clear twenty three of those shots.

Speaker 4 (03:39):
And I thought that he had a really strong game
his first start and quiet some time after back to
back great a performances for Matt Murray.

Speaker 5 (03:46):
Yeah, I mean, I mean, the Cracking coaching staff have
a difficult decision. I just I don't see carrying three
goaltenders for the entire season when they're going to draw
the line in the sand.

Speaker 6 (03:55):
I don't know. But you're seeing a couple of goaltenders.

Speaker 5 (03:58):
Who've stepped in while jo Court is out played some
great goal and it's not easy for me.

Speaker 6 (04:05):
To say one is better than the other.

Speaker 3 (04:06):
Day.

Speaker 5 (04:07):
Both played fantastically. It's a good problem to have.

Speaker 3 (04:10):
Crack at five three they take down on a peg.

Following a five three Kraken win.

Speaker 4 (06:28):
To the locker room we go the kid Bertley Catton
joining us on the program, Berkeley, congrats on a big
five to three win for your group here tonight. I
know it's been offensively kind of a struggle the last
few games. You guys exploded here for five. Just take
us through your thoughts on this game from your view.

Speaker 1 (06:46):
Yeah, it was great.

Speaker 13 (06:48):
I thought, uh, you know, we were going all night there,
and you know, we even got down there for a bed.
I think just the way we rallied back and stuck
in the game and even came back was awesome.

Speaker 11 (06:56):
So I really excited to see that.

Speaker 3 (06:58):
You know, last this year, you're first NHL season.

Speaker 4 (07:01):
I have to imagine that sometimes it can be like
drinking straight from a fire hose. How have you been
feeling these last couple of weeks, now that you're getting
a regular shift here in the NHL.

Speaker 13 (07:11):
Yeah, you know, I think to start, it's tough. It's
it's so fast. Everything comes out you so quick. In
those first couple of games, you're so excited and then
you kind of get settled in.

Speaker 11 (07:19):
I think and you realize you kind of here.

Speaker 13 (07:21):
So I think he's the last couple of starting to
feel a little bit better and you know, just trying
to keep building and grow my game.

Speaker 5 (07:25):
Here Berkeley, ten different guys getting on the score sheet tonight,
Vince done with a goal and to assist. How important
is it to have your blue line contributing like that?

Speaker 11 (07:35):
Yeah, I mean he's so good.

Speaker 13 (07:36):
Our whole our whole decourse so good, and how they
move pucks and and you know, they keep us in
games all the time. So it's great to see that.
And you know, like you said before, it was great.
We kind of exploded your offensively. I think you know
it was gonna happen, and great happen tonight.

Speaker 4 (07:47):
You know, you're you're not you're you're very outspoken about
Jordan Everley being one of your idols, one of the
guys that you watched growing up and wanting to model
your game.

Speaker 3 (07:56):
After you're on a line with him, How.

Speaker 4 (07:58):
Does it feel to play with one of the guys
that you grew up watching and wanting to emulate.

Speaker 13 (08:04):
Yeah, you know, I think in the middle of the game,
you're so into it, it doesn't really seem too too
crazy that after the game you kind of relax and like.

Speaker 6 (08:10):
That's that's cool.

Speaker 13 (08:11):
But I think it's starting to get a little bit
more normal here as I play more games. But you know,
ultimately super cool to play with on your eye those
I think.

Speaker 5 (08:17):
Berkeley, you started on the third line tonight in the middle.
It seemed like you moved around a little bit once
Coppocaco went out and obviously Mason marshmall went out for
a short period of time there. What was that like
down on the bench, not just yourself, but in general.

Speaker 13 (08:29):
Yeah, I think just you know, as being a young
guy and in first couple of games, you gotta be
ready whenever. And whether that means wing center, I don't
really care. I just you know, want to help impact
the team and get on the ice. So you know,
I'm happy to go on ever and you know it's
great we you know, did that tonight.

Speaker 4 (08:42):
I got one last one for you. I want to
have some fun with you here. What's been your welcome
to the NHL moment? If you had one of those
welcome to the NHL moments, And who's the one player
that you're most looking forward to playing against or or
sharing the ice with?

Speaker 3 (08:56):
As you move along here this.

Speaker 13 (08:57):
Season, yeah, I think just like, honestly, the travel was
like mind boggling.

Speaker 11 (09:02):
To me, how much food there was.

Speaker 13 (09:03):
Don't even know playing carry that much food and stuff
that far.

Speaker 11 (09:06):
It's pretty cool.

Speaker 13 (09:07):
And then, you know, I think just every night it
seems like there's someone that you've watched grown up. I mean,
I remember one of my first games playing, you know,
McDavid and kind of in a tussle and I look
who it was.

Speaker 6 (09:16):
And it was it was McDavid.

Speaker 11 (09:17):
So that's pretty cool.

Speaker 13 (09:18):
Then obviously down the line here Crosby was one of
my favorites. Pretty basic answer, But you know, those two
guys are pretty cool.

Speaker 4 (09:24):
Oh hey man, Berkeley, congrats on a great performance here tonight.
Congrats on continuing to find and grow your game, and
we look forward to talking to you down the road.

Speaker 13 (09:33):
Sounds good, Thanks guys.

Speaker 4 (09:34):
All right, Cracking forward Berkeley Catton following tonight's five three
win for the Seattle Cracking every player who you want
to play, it's, at least for the Canadians, it's Sidney Crosby.
If you're if you're a Canadian kid, sid the kid
is the one guy, especially because is this his last year,
does he have one more?

Speaker 6 (09:51):
Who knows?

Speaker 4 (09:52):
This very well could be the last time that you know,
you never know, right, I think he's gonna playuntill he'st fifty.
But you know again, let the just tell it. Sidney's
getting to the end of his rope here. But no,
I love hearing those answers. I do too, cracking five
three they take down Winnipeg. Al over to you.

Speaker 5 (10:09):
Well, First of all, goaltending tonight was fantastic, absolutely a
key takeaway of mine. Yes, you know, Grubauer gave up three,
but there were three difficult goals here tonight, so he
was a highlight for me. As I mentioned to Berkeley
cat and their defense contributing tonight on all but one
of the goals, so that was fantastic. And then the
third one is the captain being the captain. Jordan Niberley,

(10:29):
you know, had a couple of goals, but he also
had a couple of block shots. And when you see
your captain throwing himself in front of sometimes miles an
hour pucks coming at you, it makes you want to
go out and do it. So I love to love
the captain being the captain tonight. Three stars Tonight brought
to you by Mamakay waiting by the by the radio.
Third start tonight goes to Philip Grubauer, stopping twenty three

(10:51):
of twenty six had an eight five save percentage. Don't
let that fool you. Those three goals were difficult. The
second star goes to Jordan Eiberley. As I mentioned two goals,
he was a plus two, hit two block shots as well.
And number one star goos to Vince Done. He had
a goal and two assists. He also had two block shots.
So great leadership by both those guys.

Speaker 6 (11:09):
That'll do it.

Speaker 4 (11:10):

Speaker 14 (11:42):

Speaker 11 (15:18):
Well, a big question here for this game.

Speaker 14 (15:20):
How would the Kraken respond after an offense that went
nearly dry against the Columbus Blue Jackets two nights ago
and facing a team that doesn't give up much defensively.
The answer, a resounding one, is a Kraken surviving the
loss of Compocaco with a two goal ninth by Jordan Eberley,
a three point game by Vin Stunn, and the Kraken
taking the season series already from Winnipeg two wins out

(15:44):
of two, one more game to go here in this
set as a Cracking knock off the Winnipeg Jets five
to three this evening at Climate Pledge Arena, Mike betting
again with you back across here at Tom's Watch Bar
as a Kraken improving to eight four and five twenty
one points on the campaign, Winnipeg fall into ten and seven,
getting through their fifth game of this lengthy six game

(16:07):
road trip. The Kracking now four to six and four
head to head against the Jets, earning just their second
win all time at home against Winnipeg and this head
to head series, it is for the Kraken their first
win here over the Jets since December eighteenth of twenty
twenty two, because they have won back to back games
here in this head to head series. And time now

(16:27):
for the highlights and this Seemo Kracking drive to the
next scoring recap is brought to you for the all
new Chevy tracks now bigger and Boulder tracks is a
perfect assist for all of life's adventures. The scoring warming
up at ten to seventeen a period one, Alex I
have follow going right toward the front of the net,
cashing in with this fourth goal of the season. Adam
Lowry and Dylan Demelo with the assist on the play

(16:51):
for the Kraken, responding at fifteen to fifteen a period one,
Compo Cocko along the way from a Jaden Schwartz shopping
the right wing, got a tip it at Shane Jangles
on Connor Hellibuck. That's key against goaltender who was so
polished as he is. Cocko's first goal of the season
from Schwartz and Ben's Dunn tied the game at one,
but soon after that the Kraken would lose Cocko for

(17:14):
the remainder of the game after he left the ice
shortly after a faceoff win and appeared to gingerly favor
his leg going.

Speaker 11 (17:22):
Off the ice.

Speaker 14 (17:23):
And at the second period, Mark Scheifeley scoring on a
breakaway on Philip grubauer ten goal of the season at
three eighteen a period two to make a two to
one Winnipeg. Neil Pionk had the assist on the play,
but the Cracking responding as Ben's Dunn found soft ice
right in front of Connor Hellibuck and lifted a shot
right over his glove. Third goal at seven to twenty

(17:44):
seven for Done his first since October eighteen, tied this
game in two. Ryan Winterton and Adam Larson with the
assist on the play. With the Cracking getting into penalty
issues late in period two, squandering a power play and
then Ben's Dunn off for hooking with Kyle Connor threatening
for a short handed break and then when the Jets
had the man advantage, they took advantage at eighteen fifty

(18:06):
Connors tenth of the season of a blast at the
right circle came courtesy Josh Morrissey and Shifeley to make
it three to two Winnipeg, and the Cracket had some
work to do with twenty minutes to go because they
also took a too many minut on the ice penalty,
spilling over into period number three.

Speaker 11 (18:24):
They found their way out of it.

Speaker 14 (18:25):
And then Nelly Tolbanan stepping up with a kraken going
right back toward the man advantage right here.

Speaker 3 (18:32):
Now it's Tolvanant back to the point. Bit's done straight.

Speaker 1 (18:35):
Away, tolban It suits stood.

Speaker 18 (18:44):
Elly Tolbanan with a rocket from the right side. It's
a power play goal. Fifteen to forty nine to play.

Speaker 3 (18:52):
In the third, we're tied three much.

Speaker 6 (18:54):
Look the same goal Ellie's Hooven scored the other day.

Speaker 5 (18:57):
It's fun a power play top of the circles, moving
the puck around the perimeter, but it gets back to
Vincedunn at the point he sends it down to Tolbenen
on that right circle. He puts everything into it, beating
hillibuck quacker side down low.

Speaker 6 (19:09):
This keeps tight.

Speaker 14 (19:10):
Agree for eleven the time of the goal. Boy, did
special teams really steer the engine and the wheel here
this evening as Tolbynen got his second of the season
from Vince Dunn and Chandler Stevenson, and the more and
more the Kraken can find passes in the Tolbnin's wheelhouse
at that spot from the right circle, He's got a
big shot to let it fly and it paid off

(19:30):
in a big way to give the Kraken a three
to three tie at four to eleven into period three,
coming off the Nino Nina rider holding penalty as well.
Then past seven minute mark, Matty Veniers is lin stepping
right onto the ice and stepping into a big moment.

Speaker 4 (19:47):
Matty Veneers back to Marshman in the circle. What's a
hip check? Get the the best of.

Speaker 1 (19:53):
Cob down Maddy Baniers top of the right circle.

Speaker 18 (20:05):
He fights every down, low tick tack goal that captain.

Speaker 1 (20:09):
Let's the cracking on top by a four to three scar.

Speaker 5 (20:12):
Well, this one starts with a Mason Marshman down that
right side. He turns his body to protect the puck,
gets it back to Matty Veneers. As Jordan Nibley is
swinging around the back.

Speaker 1 (20:22):
Side of the dead we had a great angle for him.

Speaker 5 (20:24):
From up here you can see Maddy waiting for Jordan
Nibley to get into position.

Speaker 6 (20:28):
As soon as he was.

Speaker 5 (20:29):
There, boom on a stick, tap of the dead four
three cracking.

Speaker 11 (20:32):
To call that goal of work of art does not
do it justice.

Speaker 14 (20:36):
Seven twenty one the time of the goal of period three,
first of a game, with Mason Marshman using his big
six foot five rain two protect the puck. Then it
was Wiring a pass right back to Matty Beniers, who
then threwd a one right onto the tape of Jordan Everley.
It brought the fans out of their seats and gave
the Cracket a four to three lead at seven to
twenty one period three, again every sixth coming courtesy Maddy

(20:59):
Baniers and Mason Marchmoth. The Kraken would love to see
more results like that, especially out of a trio they
put on the ice for a big moment. In that situation,
Winnipeg then pulling Connor Hellibuck the will pass, the eight
team in the mark and the Kraken looking to put
this game away. It came courtesy Jordan Everly his seventh
goal of the season in eighteen twenty five, with Matty

(21:21):
Benier's picking up the assist on the play as well,
and that finishing off Winnipeg Tonight five three the final
for the Kraken. They have won two games so far
in two tries against Winnipeg, one more game to go
in the season series of Crack and have already taken
that season series as well. As Vince done a three
point night that is his seventh career three point out

(21:41):
in here with the Krack and tying Jayden Schwartz for
the most enfranchise history and for the Crack. In the
final shots on NET twenty six eighteen in favor of
Winnipeg power plays wise, the Jets go one to three.
The Kraken also even in things up at a one
for three effort as a win and Net going.

Speaker 11 (21:59):
To Philip Grubauer.

Speaker 14 (22:01):
That was big for him, turning in twenty three saves
on twenty six shots. He has won in back to
back appearances the Las Annett to Connor Hellabuck, who was
a little bit less than one hundred percent razors shirp
this evening the Krack and they would take advantage of that,
and he gave up four goals on seventeen shots here
for tonight the Krack and also overcoming three separate deficits

(22:23):
before again pulling ahead in period three, Jordan Everley again
scoring the game winning goal to overtake Jared McCann for
the most by the way in Cracking history as a
Crack and overcoming the second intermission deficit in a five
to three win over Winnipeg. Time now for the cors

Seattle forcing a turnover the offensive end. Here is Bit's
done with the near side.

Speaker 1 (23:10):
Schwartz shoots stop.

Speaker 18 (23:19):
Tane, Schwartz fright circle toward the goal. Cocko Cocko got
a piece of it all the way through and the
Seattle cracket tie the game one one four forty.

Speaker 1 (23:32):
Five left at period number one.

Speaker 5 (23:34):
Well, Channis duds and the bitch does doing a nice
little criss cross the blue line, Dune picks up that buck,
slides it down to Schwartz. Shorts does what we've been
talking about, puts one hard on that Coco. Coco's up front,
get the piece of it. This game is tight at one.

Speaker 14 (23:49):
You got an indication at that point of how the
Cracket would need to attack Connor Hellibuck in the Winnipeg
defense and get the Jets goaltender to move Shane Jengles.
And that worked two perfection, tying the and that restoring
balance for the Krack, and by the end of period
one is Compo Coco getting his first goal of the season. Unfortunately,
his return to the lineup here a bit short lived.

(24:11):
As far as the early going, we found out Coco
left the game would not return to it due to
a lower body injury. Timetable is yet uncertain, and certainly
Coco hoping that he's gonna be okay, but Compocaco a
big goal to get on the board with a redirection
to make it a one.

Speaker 11 (24:25):
To one tie at that point.

Speaker 14 (24:27):
Then we go right toward the end of this with
a Kraken looking to apply kill the instinct.

Speaker 4 (24:33):
Four three Seattle extra attacker aren't for win A Beck
ryan lingrit they'll push it up the boards, win a.

Speaker 3 (24:40):
Bec not a little hold thelide, not even.

Speaker 1 (24:42):
Ears near side captain box in sto.

Speaker 18 (24:54):
Back to Beck goals for the captain.

Speaker 1 (24:56):
He's got two.

Speaker 18 (24:58):
The track ind ahead by to five three, one thirty
five left in Seattle.

Speaker 5 (25:05):
One of the ways to Cracker we're gonna have to
win this game was puck battles.

Speaker 6 (25:07):
At that time there not even.

Speaker 5 (25:09):
Ears with a puck battle win along the Bard pokes
it forward, finds deffinitely over the far side of the
ice all by himself, emptied it goal for seven. Second
at goal for seven is sint to bimat Engineers five three.

Speaker 14 (25:22):
Cracket O Jordan Eberley certainly finds the right time to
pick up big multi goal games. That, by the way,
his second of this regular season. Previously, he did this
October twenty fifth against the Edmonton Oilers in the night.
It comes here in a big way, paying off in
a five to three win for the Kraken over the
Winnipeg Jets at Climate Plage Arena. Time now for the

(25:44):
big win that's brought to you by the Evergreen Council
on Problem Gambling and the Florida Panthers this evening, bringing
forward a long time veteran here looking to hit a
milestone late in the game.

Speaker 19 (25:57):
Carlson over on the far side, marsh and the take
away back handle Loostorena. Luis Storena looks long toward the
empty net. He scores at to Louistena from long range
the empty netter and that's one thousand points for Brad Marshan,
who picks up the primary.

Speaker 1 (26:12):
Assist on the goal.

Speaker 19 (26:14):
The Panthers take a six to three lead with ninety
seconds to play and Mark Shan's teammates onto the ice
to celebrate at center ice.

Speaker 1 (26:22):
Amazing. Brad mar Shan gets it done. One thousand points.
What a milestone.

Speaker 14 (26:29):
Doug Plagan's at the play by play call on the
Florida Panthers radio side with Brad Marshan hitting the one
thousand point mark. He had two assists this evening, and
the second one you just heard help put Florida over
the top to cap off a six to three win
over the Washington Capitals. Mars Shan had the one hundred
and second player in NHL history to reach the milestone.

(26:51):
Twelfth at the player as well to hit that mark.

Speaker 6 (41:24):
That's the secret balance.

Speaker 11 (41:26):
And yawn balance here so the crack can find their balance.
By the way.

Speaker 14 (41:29):
Five three over Winnipeg, Jordan Everley is going to be
speaking here and.

Speaker 11 (41:33):
Just a bit meeting with the media.

Speaker 14 (41:35):
But let's just jump into it right now, we have
a ton to get to And I first think how
badly the Krack had needed a win like this, not
just for the fact that they came off a loss
against Columbus in a shootout where the offense went dry,
and we've been talking about this, and I thought something
great John Forsln said, now is not the time to

(41:57):
freak out about this offense.

Speaker 11 (42:00):
And you come in and face Winnipeg and you think,
how are.

Speaker 14 (42:02):
You gonna get through this with their defense and how
they can block shots and Connor Hellibuck and everything here. Well,
for a game of the Crack and maybe didn't play
at their best, they were productive and that is such
a promising sign.

Speaker 5 (42:14):
Well, they were productive, and I think that you know,
John's right that this team is a defense first team structure,
and you know, the Columbus Blue Jackets came in here
played well that your Cracking were not able to pull
out a win. And then the Blue Blue Jackets go
up to Edmonton and beat Edmonton tonight. So this Blue
Jackets team is playing really well right now. But they
definitely needed a bounce back game, and they needed a

(42:35):
bounce back game, not just a win, not just a win,
but a statement win. And you know, another win, the
second in a row against Winnipeg better than the first one,
I would say. You know that the team saw some
adversity throughout the game, with Kappolcocko going out, Mason Marchman
going out for a period of time, and then they
battled through it and came out on top.

Speaker 6 (42:55):
So big, huge win for the guys.

Speaker 14 (42:57):
Took four nine four five one Texas. Right now on
the cage text line, who you think your player of
the game was here from the seatum. We'll get to
your responses to your reaction as well, but four nine,
four or five one I want to hear from you now,
who you think your player of the game was from
the five to three crack and win over the Winnipeg Jets.
All start and there are a few responses here that
also echo this. Maddy Benier's when the Chips were down

(43:20):
high leverage, his line was terrific and that eventual game
winning goal if you can get that consistently, oh my,
you're cooking.

Speaker 5 (43:28):
Yeah, absolutely, you know. He drew a penalty tonight put
his team on the power play. I think that was
the power play that ended up being a goal as well,
so drew penalty there. He you know, he had a
couple of helpers on the Jordan Eberley goal. He came
into the game leading the team with seven primary assists.
He leaves the game in the lead with nine primary assists.
So he continues to be the playmaker out there, but

(43:50):
he's earning every inch of ice he gets out there.
You see it in his in his tenacity, in his stride.
He's playing his best hockey right now.

Speaker 11 (43:57):
See.

Speaker 14 (43:57):
I think for me it was how the play was
generated because Mason Marshman has been struggling to find offense
ever since opening night against Anaheim. But he uses his
big six foot five frame yep to protect the puck
and then with confidence and assertiveness, goes tape to tape
right to Maddie and there's no hesitation finding everly pop

(44:19):
back door.

Speaker 5 (44:20):
Well, we had a great view from it up top
there at the press bridge too, because we're on that
side of the ice, and you know, Maddy Banier is
getting that feed from Mason Marshman, and you're right, he
used his body to protect the puck, which is what
big guys have to do. You saw Maddie way to
beat and the reason he waited a beat is he
could see Everley coming around the backside of the net,
and so he has to buy time. How do you

(44:40):
buy time, You've got to obviously it's a game of keepaway.

Speaker 6 (44:44):
So he waits a beat.

Speaker 5 (44:45):
He sees Everley peel around the back of the net
and then it's tape to tape in an easy redirect
into the net.

Speaker 6 (44:50):
Just an elite goal there from Everly, an.

Speaker 11 (44:52):
Elite pass with the lineup switch.

Speaker 14 (44:53):
That was one of our top story lines of saving
How would Benier's centering marchmen and every react? First time
they had played together here for this season, and they
looked terrific this sevening, especially in those high leverage spots.
Again five three crack and win over the Winnipeg Jets. Coppocaco,
Vince Dune, Ellie Toulvenan, and Jordan Eberley with two goals

(45:15):
here for the seaton. Before we get to Everly's comments here,
Vince done three assists. Philip Grubauer good enough of the win.
We what do we make out of them?

Speaker 5 (45:23):
Yeah, I mean Vince Dunn had a fantastic game, three
point night. He had two block shots as well. Playing
a physical game, you know, I talked in the post
game a little about Jordan Eberly's leadership tonight and that
he had two block shots as well. Obviously the two goals,
but Vince done same, same, same sentence, being a leader
out there, showing the younger guys that you've got to be,

(45:45):
you know, sacrifice your body to stop pucks from getting
to the net, and both of them with a couple
of block shots night, I think just as valuable as
as putting bucks in the.

Speaker 14 (45:52):
Net, cracking go one for three on the power play,
even in things up where it seemed as that the
special teams game was getting away from then Winnipeg going
one of three, and you talk about a potential turning
point here the krackon could have seen in this game
fall away early in period three, but a big penalty
kill then turning into a big ellet Tolbnen power play

(46:13):
goal here for this seed, I mean that tied the game,
setting up Everly's eventual game winner. Speaking of Everly here,
he is right back downstairs at clim the Pledge Arena,
meeting with the media right now.

Speaker 28 (46:25):
I think we're a little bit over half a half
a month Sterome, Jordan.

Speaker 29 (46:35):
You know, how good Connor Hallibut can be and that
team can be across the way to get to get
four goals against him, find a way to get a
win against him. How big is this one for you
guys today? Yeah, I mean there, every game is big.
I think obviously it's a good team over there. You know,
we've been kind of fighting it to put the puck
in it a little bit, so I mean to get
some bit of a you know, some offense that's obviously massive.

Speaker 28 (46:56):
So group's playing great. Thought special teams came up clutch
when they needed to. I thought we played for the
most part pretty good hockey, so which we have and
we just haven't you been putting the buck in the net.
So it's uh, you know, hopefully we can get some
confience here and keep going.

Speaker 6 (47:12):
You mentioned the special teams there.

Speaker 29 (47:14):
You had the one power play didn't go your way,
they get the break the other chance to come back
as your guys's unit there and have Ellie put one in.
And how how critical was that for you guys to
find one on the advantage?

Speaker 6 (47:23):
That was massive?

Speaker 28 (47:24):
I think we had two before that we didn't really
generate much and then they got one on the power play.
I think the special team is obviously massive. So we
get to kill at the start of the third there,
which was huge, and then obviously score and tied up
on the other one. So those are those are big moments.

Speaker 6 (47:38):
Obviously a lot of emotion out there. But what can
you say about Maddy get finding you in the back
door there?

Speaker 28 (47:42):
Yeah, he did a great, great play, you know, March
he made a great play to to find him. I think, yeah,
he's he had a great game. He was skating, he
was physically doing battles. I think, you know, Matty's uh,
I love playing with him. He's an lead player.

Speaker 30 (47:56):
What does it say about I mean, it's been a hard,
hard stretch here for finding goals obviously, what's to say
about your team and confidence and all that being able
to find the way that the win to way the
way that you did tonight.

Speaker 6 (48:06):
Yeah, I mean I.

Speaker 28 (48:07):
Think for us, you know, see, defense is going to
be the backbone of this club. For me, that's how
we're gonna win hockey games. But you got to try
and create offense out of that. So we've you know,
I don't think it's been for a lock of chances.
I look at you know, the sing leist game in
the Dallas Game Clubs game. If we've had our looks,
we just haven't you know, finished. So I think obviously
you see the puck go in. It just gives you
a confidence and gives guys confidence and hopefully that just

(48:27):
continues to build.

Speaker 29 (48:28):
What kind of play is that for Maddy to read
you spinning around to the back post there and finding
you at that point.

Speaker 28 (48:33):
Yeah, I mean it's just said an elite player. It's
just a second overall pick player play than.

Speaker 14 (48:42):
As Jordan Eberley, who are in the F one helmet
in the dressing room, two goal night, two block shots
as well. That's captain doing captain things right there. Mike
Benton Alkoniwski right back at Tom's watch Bark crack and
knock out the Jets five to three. But the kje
air text line we go three one four, chiming in, say,
Maddy had a great game and Mark Scheiffley gave him
a nice little elbow face rub in the first period,

(49:04):
so it was great to see him respond and say
I'm the next way Mark Depp in the three one four.

Speaker 5 (49:10):
Yeah, not only that too, but you know, talking about
Shiffley midway through the game. He was eighty percent in
a draw going against Chandler Stevenson, and as the game
wore on, it started to equalize them a little bit.
And I don't think that Chandler Stevenson was ever ahead,
but it wasn't that lot lopsided, which tells me Chandler
Stevenson spent the second half of the game trying to
figure out Mark Shifley and trying to figure out how

(49:31):
to win against him with the draw, and that was
fantastic to see. That's all part of that grind mentality
that this team uses to overcome other teams.

Speaker 14 (49:39):
Two o six saying Philip Grewbauer Player of the Game.
Another two oh six numbers saying Philip grew Bauer Player
of the Game. This is an interesting goaltending picture now
because Joey de korbay the words.

Speaker 11 (49:50):
Of Lane Lambert day to day. But we've seen him
back on ice.

Speaker 14 (49:54):
There is progress for him, which potentially means a return
is coming soon. Matt mur he has look phenomenal this
season so far. So where are we at right now
with this goaltending picture.

Speaker 5 (50:05):
I don't want to be the person that makes that decision,
but I do not think this team's going to carry
three goals all all season long. When they decide to
make a change is anybody's guess. But right now you've
got a number one enjoyed accord that's coming off of
an injury, but you've got two number two. It's not
clear who is the better goaltender. Matt Murray has played
well in the two games he has played, and he

(50:25):
saw Philip Grubauer play well here tonight. He hadn't need
six to five save percentage, but the three goals that
were scored on him, that back door tap in the
first one, the breakaway, the power play goal. Everett and
I talked about this a little bit, and maybe you
give him that tapping goal on the backside.

Speaker 6 (50:42):
That's a hard one to stop.

Speaker 5 (50:43):
But if he stops from one of those other two,
now he's probably an elite number one goaltender for you.
So right on the edge there of even challenging a
number one spot. But you got a tough decision to
make if you're going to get down to two goaltenders.

Speaker 14 (50:57):
And this is a tough decision, but a welcomed toughest
decision for Lane Lambert because I go back and think
of the comments from GM Jason botterol back in this
summer with regards to this goaltending picture competition, this is
what you want to try to elevate each other's game
so that tough decision when it comes. You want to

(51:18):
see each goalie try to make each other the best
that they can be here.

Speaker 5 (51:22):
And I think that's what's happening. And you know, both
of them recognize that there's an opportunity. While Joey de
Court is out to solidify a number one spot first
of all, while he's out, we don't know how long
that is, but he's starting to practice with the team again.
But number two when he comes back, to solidify that
number two spot as well.

Speaker 6 (51:40):
And you know, when one.

Speaker 5 (51:42):
Goaltender goes in, especially for back to back games or
for two games in a row, and plays well, that
puts pressure on the other guy. And in this case,
the other guy is Philip Grubauer and he responded well tonight.

Speaker 14 (51:53):
Back to back wins now for Grubauer as a crack
of knockoff. The Winnipeg Jets five three will take a
break after this more reaction. Al myself and you were
live at Tom's watch Bar right across from Klinda Pledge Arena.
This is Talking Kraken on ninety three to three kJ RFM.

Speaker 2 (52:11):
Now back to Ducking Kracking with Mike Bnton on your

Speaker 6 (52:18):

Speaker 4 (52:20):
Seattle forcing a turnover the offensive end. Here is Fitch
done an here size Swartz.

Speaker 1 (52:26):
Shots stop.

Speaker 18 (52:34):
Taine Schwartz fright circle toward the goal. Copocacko got a
piece of it all the way through and the Seattle
Cracket tie the game one one four forty five left
it period number one.

Speaker 14 (52:50):
That's the kind of goal you're looking for on a
consistent basis out of the Kraken screens, deflections, meat and
potatoes type of stuff, and they get it out of
Copo Coaco unfortunately leaving the game lower body injury. Did
not return after leaving in period one with a Kraken
surviving it five through their win over the Winnipeg Jets.
Mike Benton Alkiniski with you back across over at Tom's

(53:11):
watch bar from Climb and Plage arena al before we
get to Lane Lambert, what do we make out of
Coppocco and how the Cracker responded and the difference in
how Lane Lambert shuffle lines here for this evening.

Speaker 5 (53:22):
Yeah, it becomes a bit of a coaching challenge there
when you have a guy go out where, especially early
in the game. You know, it's one thing when there's
ten minutes left in the game, but early in the game,
you you've set these lines, You've talked to these guys
about who they're playing with, but now they have to
make an adjustment. And I fir, I firmly believe that
the man, the too many men penalty that they took
was a result of Coppocco going out of the lineup

(53:43):
all of a sudden. You're having to make adjustments on
the fly. Okay, Mike, You're now playing with al at
fits like who do you got?

Speaker 6 (53:49):
Who do I got?

Speaker 5 (53:50):
And there was just a miscommunication there on the bench
that resulted, I think in that in that too many
men penalty.

Speaker 14 (53:56):
Ty, Kurt sha Berkeley Cat and Shane Wright five on
five shot attempts four one, they had that edge. I mean,
I know that Canton was in the mix all over
the place, but you had some compliments for him. What
were you reminded of for his game that's taken steps
here this evening?

Speaker 5 (54:10):
Yeah, I mean, we talked about that a little bit
that you know, he came into the game tonight playing
third line center. And when you lose a winger like that,
for a guy like him like that that's played wing
as well with this kracking team, he now becomes a
better utility player because you've lost a winger, so you
can slide him from the middle over to the wing
and back. And I think he did there over the

(54:30):
course of the rest of the game. Sometimes he was
out playing the middle and sometimes he was out playing
the wing.

Speaker 11 (54:34):
All right, Head coach Lane Lambert meeting with the media.

Speaker 14 (54:36):
Right now, let's check in back downstairs with the Matt
climbing Pledgerina.

Speaker 6 (54:41):
Good evening, coach, congratulations on a win. So Vince Dunn
mentioned this was a character win.

Speaker 21 (54:47):
How would you characterize this win tonight? I would agree
with him.

Speaker 31 (54:51):
You know, we down a goal going into the third,
big important penalty kill that we had to have, and
we got it and then we uh we scored in
the power play, and you know, it's a big, uh.

Speaker 21 (55:05):
Big win, a lot of character.

Speaker 31 (55:07):
And I you know, I don't think we ever doubted
that we were coming back in that game.

Speaker 30 (55:15):
Coach, how do you how do you react when you
see Capo Kaka, who has had a hard time kind
of getting going offensively since his first injury, he scores
a goal and then plays eighteen more seconds gets hurt again.

Speaker 21 (55:26):
I mean, how do you react to seeing that happen?

Speaker 31 (55:28):
Well, I mean I feel bad for him. You know,
he is a It was a beautiful goal he scored,
you know, and we need him, so uh, you know,
not a great thing. And and certainly you know it
put it also put others. We were down a forward
and then Marchman went off on concussion protocols, so we

(55:49):
were down two forwards for a period of time. And
I thought our our team rose to the occasion. And
and you know, it was a full effort for everyone.
We needed everyone, and we got everyone. But disappointed for
Cocko and you know, hopefully you know, he's not too long.

Speaker 6 (56:10):
Lane.

Speaker 32 (56:10):
I'm having trouble figuring your team out. You uh, well,
the coverage wasn't good on the first Jets goal, the
line change wasn't good on the second Jets goal. There's
a shorthanded breakaway that led to a power play in
the third Jets goal. And yet despite all of that,

(56:31):
the team also shows the resilience to not only overcome
a good Jets team but yourselves.

Speaker 21 (56:39):
So please explain, Well.

Speaker 31 (56:42):
You're not wrong on the three instances that you mentioned,
and those you know, the too many men on the
ice can happen.

Speaker 21 (56:51):
You know, even the shifely breakaway goal.

Speaker 31 (56:54):
You know, we've got to we've got to manage that
situation better and get the puck deep.

Speaker 21 (56:58):
We know that.

Speaker 31 (57:00):
I felt like the mistakes we made tonight we're costly,
but we found a way to get back into the
hockey game. So you're not wrong. There's some mistakes there
that we can't make.

Speaker 32 (57:12):
But how about the fact that the resilience part of
it to to not let.

Speaker 31 (57:18):
That well, we were playing well other than those. Other
than those situations, I felt like we were playing well.
I thought we had our energy. I thought our compete
level was high. Against a very good hockey team. You know,
they've got a big group of forwards over there. We
battled hard and so we were playing well. We were
just shooting ourselves in the foot, and you know, there
was never a doubt that if we stopped doing that,

(57:41):
and we have to stop doing that as we go along.
We got to learn from these things that we could
come back in the game.

Speaker 14 (57:48):
That's the reaction from crackinghead coach Lane Lambert again as
a crack of knock off the Jets five three and
they break it. Pretty impressive run against a pretty impressive team.
Winnipeg was seven and zero this year when leading after
two periods, a play of the crack and getting their
first win when trailing after two periods here.

Speaker 6 (58:04):
For the season.

Speaker 5 (58:05):
Listen, Mikey, hockey is a game of mistakes, and you
just heard Glenn outline three of them there in that game,
and you're obviously trying to make as few as possible.
But I think Lane Lambert's also right. The rest of
the game, the team played very well, and you know,
you just got to out mistake the other team, and
I think the Kraken did that tonight. They took advantage
when when they could. And you know, the Coppo Coco

(58:25):
goal was a fantastic goal. It was it was it
was a it was a goal scorers goal. It was
a goal that you know, Jayden Schwartz puts the puck
on that he's shooting to score, He's not shooting to
go off of Cocko stick. But the fact that Coco
is there he's there for the screen, he's there for
the deflection, he's there for a rebound if it comes up,
and and he got the deflection. And those are the

(58:46):
kind of pucks you want going to the net more
and more to result in more goals goals for. And
I think that mindset right at the early part of
the game is why they got on the board with
that one.

Speaker 14 (58:56):
That's the kind of goal you need at a coppo coco.
And the Crack and hoping that Bill see more of that,
and the Crack is certainly hoping as well, he is
back sooner than later. Again, it appeared to be that
he went off gingerly, something tweaked, maybe I believe look,
I believe off a face off win back in period
one he was chasing Kyle O'Connor and then just flag
down the staffs saying I'm done.

Speaker 11 (59:16):
He had to leave the eyes.

Speaker 14 (59:17):
So the Crack and hoping that he is back certainly
sooner than later before we get out of here.

Speaker 11 (59:23):
Guess who's next.

Speaker 14 (59:23):
The San Jose Sharks, and they are rolling right now
eight three and one in their last twelve games to
spy tonight, being stopped dead in their tracks by guess
who the Calgary Flames too. Nothing, But it seems as
if Maclin, Celebrini, Will Smith and company have arrived.

Speaker 6 (59:41):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (59:41):
Absolutely, And you know, after going down in that game
six to one against the Krackend the other night, the
Cracker are going to come into this game with that
in mind. They're coming off of a win here against Winnipeg.
But you've got to go to battle against San Jose
the same way you did here tonight against Winnipeg. Ideally
you come out with the win because you don't want
to go zero to two. And those two games against
San Jose.

Speaker 14 (01:00:01):
Previous ten games Sharks seven to two and one, they
were averaging three point three goals per game. You better
believe the Kraken are going to be fired up here
for a response game coming up on Saturday. Well, it's
all the time we have, folks. Again, thank you for
your feedback for joining us here at Tom's watch Bar.
We're back here again after the game on Saturday against
San Jose. Are thanks also to Travis Muger, technical director

Table 4 explores how food impacts every aspect of our lives. “Foods is politics, food is cultural, food is how you express love, food is about your heritage, it defines who you and who you want to be,” says Rogers. Each week, Rogers invites her guest to reminisce about family suppers and first dates, what they cook, how they eat when performing, the restaurants they choose, and what food they seek when they need comfort. And to punctuate each episode of Table 4, guests such as Ralph Fiennes, Emily Blunt, and Alfonso Cuarón, read their favourite recipe from one of the best-selling River Cafe cookbooks. Table 4 itself, is situated near The River Cafe’s open kitchen, close to the bright pink wood-fired oven and next to the glossy yellow pass, where Ruthie oversees the restaurant.
