Speaker 1 (00:00):
And the Kracking power play lost.

Speaker 2 (00:02):
This is the k Postgame Show, brought to you by
Toyota of Olympia. Now for an in depth look at
your Kraken Hockey. It's the post Game. I'm the Global
Credit Union Kraken Audio Network for the final.

Speaker 3 (00:17):
Time to I welcome back inside of American Airlines Center
here in downtown Dallas, Texas, alongside Big Al Kiniski.

Speaker 1 (00:26):
I am Everet Fitsu and Al I told you during
the break.

Speaker 3 (00:29):
I can't even be mad. I mean the way the
Kraken played here tonight. This is a disappointing loss. It's
a frustrating loss. But this was about his hard thought
of a game that I think we've seen all year
from Seattle.

Speaker 1 (00:43):
They battled all night, They had their chances.

Speaker 3 (00:46):
You look at a guy like Mason Marshmant who's been
a bit snake bitt and only one assist coming into
the game in.

Speaker 1 (00:51):
His last eight outings.

Speaker 3 (00:53):
He had his.

Speaker 1 (00:54):
Best game of the season. I think here tonight as well.

Speaker 3 (00:56):
The Kraken did just about everything right step score two.

Speaker 1 (01:01):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (01:01):
We talked about this in the in the not the pregame,
but before the game, A little bit off the air
where you know what was the hardest FOP battle this
year so far with the Cracker. We talked about that
Winnipeg game that ended up three to one for a
win for the for the Cracking on a couple of
empty neck goals. But you know, this game here tonight,
I think is right up there. It's a loss, but
the Kraken battle right from the start. They got the

(01:23):
first goal of the game Jayden Schwartz off a great
deflection there. They saw a top power play in the
league forty three percent at home here in Dallas. And
you know they gave up with the one goal ends
up being the game winning goal, but they battled right
to the end looking for that tying goal.

Speaker 3 (01:38):
Well, let's start from the net out Matt Murray, I mean,
his second start of the season.

Speaker 1 (01:43):
Joey Decord not on the trip.

Speaker 3 (01:45):
We're hoping for some positive news over the next couple
of days out of Seattle on his availability and his
status moving forward. But he comes in his first start
in over two weeks, two and a half weeks, and
he comes in and shuts down a pretty try attempts
to shut down a pretty potent offense here in Dallas.

Speaker 4 (02:04):
Well that's just it. Too. You've got two additional goaltenders
that you haven't seen a lot of. Both got starts
this weekend in this back to back, and both looked good. Yeah,
so you know, both recognizing that they're they're they're looking
to solidify that second spot, if you will. They both
played great games. But tonight Matt Murray was on it.
You know, the even the goals he gave up, Like

(02:26):
I said, valiant effort to keep him out of the net.
Guess wrong on the Segan breakaway, but you know, it's
a fifty to fifty situation where most players are going
to elevate that puck and that's why he tried to save.

Speaker 1 (02:38):
It that way.

Speaker 3 (02:39):
Defensively, I think Seattle pushed a lot of what Dallas
was trying to do toward the outside. The Dallas Stars
were out hit twenty five fifteen here today fourteen fourteen
shot blocks, but I feel like for Dallas, most of
those came in the third period. But the Kraken doing
a really nice job of club up those passing and

(03:01):
shooting lanes here this evening.

Speaker 4 (03:02):
And I was gonna knew that was gonna be a
big part of it, because this Dallas team is a
shooting team, and if you let too many of those
pucks get to the front of the net, Like I
said before the third period, they may not initially be goals,
but they can result in goals if there's rebounds, deflections
or misplayed rebounds. So blocking those shots becomes extremely important
to make sure that those scoring opportunities don't happen.

Speaker 3 (03:23):
And finally, from your forward group, I thought the opportunities
were very many tonight for Seattle thirty one shots, only
one getting through. Mason Marshman. I touched on him earlier.
Jordan Everly had a couple of good chances. Berkeley Catton
I thought had a couple of good looks. I think
everyone offensively that you were expecting to contribute to this

(03:45):
game had some good chances, had some good looks.

Speaker 1 (03:49):
But the Smith was at the top of his game
this evening.

Speaker 4 (03:52):
Yeah, and that's just it. When you face a hot
goaltender like that, it feels like no matter what you
put on goal, you can't find the back of the net.
But you know, the next best thing, obviously after winning,
is putting the effort, and you've got to give the
crack and full marks for doing that. I thought Ellie
Tolven had agreed tonight as well. A couple of good
shots from him and you know, couldn't find the back
of the net.

Speaker 3 (04:10):
Now, I mean now that we're through this game and
one more before we go to your your key takeaways,
But for me, this is the best game two of
a back to back situation I think that I've seen
from Seattle definitely in two years.

Speaker 1 (04:22):
I mean not last season.

Speaker 3 (04:23):
The first one this year against Washington left a lot
to be desired, but this game did not feel like
Seattle was skating in their second game.

Speaker 4 (04:31):
In twenty four hours. Yeah, for sure, you didn't see
the fatigue that we've seen. The game wasn't as lopsided
as we've seen many times. Unfortunately, the stat still stands
that it's been a couple of years since the Cracking
have won in a back to back. But you play
like this in these back to backs for this season,
you're going to start finding wins in the backside.

Speaker 1 (04:48):
Two on Dallas, hold to on to take down Seattle.

Speaker 3 (04:52):
Al your key takeaways and Mama Kay's three stars before dinner.

Speaker 4 (04:55):
Absolutely, well, you know what again, a valiant effort tonight.
Full marks for the Kracking for putting in sixty minutes
of hockey.

Speaker 2 (05:01):
Uh.

Speaker 4 (05:01):
Giving up a power play goal to a team that's
forty three percent of the power play at home, I
mean you almost have to just say that's going to happen. Uh,
And it did. Matt Murray the best best game I've
seen him play so far. Shots on goal we're also fantastic.
Cracking ended up with with thirty one shots on goal.
You'd think a lot of those came in the third period.
Now it was fifteen in the second period, seven in
the first, and nine in the third. I hope that's

(05:23):
up to thirty one. Hi. Just the one the one
area of criticism I'll give us again the face offs cracking.
We're thirty three percent in the dot and you know
everything starts off a faceoff, and if you can't win
that pucket just you're you're playing from behind all the time.
So an area that the cracking need to continue to
work away up.

Speaker 3 (05:40):
I would say, no puck practice, but you need face off,
you need pussy face.

Speaker 4 (05:44):
Yeah, yeah, exactly exactly. Three stars brought to you by
Mama Kay, Mama Kay. They are all stars players. Third
star goes to Mero Heiskin and he had two assists
a night. Second star goes to Tyler sig and he
had the game winning goal. He was plus one seventy
one percent dot for a second and then first start.
No surprise there, Casey dismissed, stopping thirty of thirty one.

Speaker 1 (06:06):
I would have given Matt one of those.

Speaker 3 (06:09):
Cracking fall two to one thanks to wile Bill Geiger

In folks, sometimes you just get goalid, but you can't
fault the hustle, or the effort or even goaltender Matt
Murray in this instance, for this evening. So the Cracking
take the split now and back to back in a
two to one defeat to Dallas. But they come back
home now where they have been terrific for one and
two the season the Climate Pledge Arena. Three games on

get this same kind of that for game after game
they're going to be in pretty good shape. But this
evening they run into a hot and goalie that being

(09:54):
Casey to Smith and one goal unfortunately not enough by
a game of inches. The crack and fall to one
of the Dallas Stars and must wait another game to
get that first elusive win in quite a while against
Dallas the Krack and they'll get the split and back
to back on the road. And the record now seven
to four and four, eighteen points on the campaign, Dallas

(10:15):
improving to nine four and three. They have twenty one
points and the Krack is still awaiting their first win
in Dallas since March twenty first of twenty twenty three.
For regular season play, Mike Betton again with you back
in Network Central and time now for the highlights, and
this Seattle Kraken Drive to the Net scoring recap is
brought to you by the All News Chevy Tracks now
bigger and Boulder Tracks is the perfect assist for all

(10:38):
of life's adventures. For a game like this, it would
take a dose of leadership and who gets a going
on the Kraken side early in period one.

Speaker 3 (10:47):
Based off left size, Seattle wins at Schwartz to the
line done here sign Adam Larson shuts ten.

Speaker 11 (10:53):
Scoress Adam Rarson from the right side, ripped it.

Speaker 3 (11:02):
Toward the goal, hit something or someone in front. Jayden
Schwartz will lead the handshake line. It's a one nothing
see itt'le crack.

Speaker 1 (11:11):
And lead well.

Speaker 4 (11:11):
It starts with a face off, winning the offensive end
of the ice. Matt Eveneer is getting that puck back.
It goes over to Adam Larsen to this head up,
hard wrist shut on the ice that Jayden Swartz gets
a piece of beats Casey the.

Speaker 1 (11:23):
Smith top shelf glove side one.

Speaker 4 (11:24):
Nothing cracking.

Speaker 5 (11:25):
It's often set of meat and potatoes type of game
works in this business for these type of situations here
and on back to back situations as well. Going to
the front of the net, setting screens, getting deflections a
pretty good recipe in the Kraken tapping into that with
a veteran Jayden Schwartz. That's a leadership goal, fifth on
the season at three point fifteen, made it one nothing

(11:45):
crack in Adam Larson and the veteran also with Vince
Dunn picking up the assist on the play, and that
putting Jayden Schwartz out of a six game goal scoring drought.
That marks his tenth career goal in forty one games
against Dallas Stars. But the Kraken taking a Penaleguez Coppocaco
off for hooking at three point thirty two in the

(12:06):
very next shift and the Stars converting on the ensuing
power play, Wyatt Johnson front of the net getting a
ten goal of the year at four twenty four from
Jason Robertson and Miro Hayskinen tied the game at one,
and then the tie game carrying late into period one
with a stars veteran for looking to make his mark, Heiro.

Speaker 3 (12:28):
Hayskin in far side up the boards, will pay hints
now for Sagan down the slot, backhand on he scores.

Speaker 6 (12:38):
What a move.

Speaker 3 (12:39):
Tyler Sagan bobo the pump in tight was able.

Speaker 1 (12:43):
To get a piece of.

Speaker 3 (12:44):
It on the backhead. He got Matt Murray to go down.
It's a two to one Dallas leeve thirty two point
two left to the second.

Speaker 5 (12:53):
That's stung when you think about it, because the Kraken
We're about thirty four seconds away from getting out of
the first period with a one one tie in Dallas
and also in the second game of a back to
back situation. But Tyler Sagan taking over slip right behind
the pack and by a mere matter of anius found
Matt Murray's right pad lifted in the air and barely

(13:13):
snucked the puck under his toe to make it a
two to one Dallas lead. Tyler Sagan getting his fifth
goal of the season at nineteen twenty six, the assist
coming courtesy rope Hen said Miro Haskinen and the ladder
and pretty tough to stop. Recently Hayskan in his second
assist and then I also capping a four game point streak,
currently nine points in that span. The Crack and trailing

(13:37):
two to one at the end of one, but they
kept the second period more low event and led in
shot attempts at five on five twenty one to ten
and shots on goal on the board fifteen to seven,
had two to one deficit, carrying over with the same
score into period three, where the goalies then took over.
Matt Murray a couple of big saves out of the

(13:57):
Kracking came up empty on the penal or on the
power play. In total, Murray turning in seven saves out
of seven, had several threatening looks and down the other
way of the Kraken, doing likewise on Casey Desmith, but
he made nine saves out of nine in the final
period to cap it off and Dallas surviving one last
Kraken Wave two won the final. Dallas over the Kraken

(14:20):
here on Sunday at American Airline Center. Your final shots
on ned Kraken led thirty one twenty four. The special
teams making a big difference here Dallas going one for
three on the power play again they came into the
contest top rank power play at home in the NHL
this season, and the Kraken coming up empty, zero for
three on the man advantage. Casey de Smith well deserving

(14:42):
you had to admit for First Star honors. Thirty saves
on thirty one shots with a win, his record moving
to three to one and one, and Matt Murray played
well enough to win but takes a loss instead. Here
twenty two saves on twenty four shots. He is zero
and two through three games on the campaign. Time Now

Cracking up won nothing early in period one, but Dallas
looking for a turning point.

Speaker 3 (15:23):
Here's hasten it to robertson left wing, pitches it in front,
scores Whyet Junston passed the divevank Matt Burray and the
Dallas Stars on the power plane tie the game fifteen
thirty six to go one wi.

Speaker 5 (15:39):
So Dallas gets a bit of a sugar rush on
the power play when the Krakens scored first and quite
of the building a little bit. But that got their
game going and got the crowd going, and admittedly it
was a turning point. In period one, Wyatt Johnson's tenth
goal tied the game at one on the man advantage,
and then with the cracking down two to one, they
were looking for more magic like in the previous night.

(16:00):
In the final seconds, here's Mark s Bett far wing,
blue line.

Speaker 3 (16:04):
Doun kept it in Mark Smitt left side. Now Beniers
Montur fires turned aside by Casey the Smith prone down
the ice, Rettman bouncing a puck to the near corner.

Speaker 1 (16:15):
Iicing gets waved off.

Speaker 3 (16:16):
Ten seconds to play in the third Montour pump the
far side. Vince dun knocks it down, saying right, do
this shot that one just wied cocko cocko in the corner.
Try the center just on the reach mob fence tone
and there is your final horn.

Speaker 5 (16:35):
And unfortunately for the Crack and they just ran at
a time tonight several great players, terrific looks, final seconds
hearing you figure you take this kind of that for
a game after game, they're gonna be in pretty good shape.
But it took Dallas, a team that's playing great hockey
early the season, to hold out the Kracking in this instance.
Here to one your final score over the Kraken in

(16:56):
this first matchup of the season. Time now for the
big win that's brought to you by Evergreen Council on
problem gambling. Blackhawks taken on the Red Wings and a
young rising superstar looking to do more damage in the
scoring column table.

Speaker 2 (17:11):
Tarrafine and right corner took the dard along the right

their PK now left shin off to the line, the
badard right circle.

Speaker 1 (17:23):
Fifty nine seconds.

Speaker 3 (17:24):
Into the hockey game here in Motown, it's one nothing Hawks.

Speaker 5 (17:28):
John Wideman had the call on WGN radio in Chicago
as Connor bedard three point game. He took over the
NHL scoring lead in a five to one win over
Detroit at Little Caesar's Arena. Badard also extending his goal
streak to three consecutive games and point streak as well
to eight as that performance moved him one point ahead

two saves. Mike betting with you back in Network Central.
Let's go back out to Dallas now for more reaction
with Cracking head coach Lane Lambert.

Speaker 17 (21:37):
It's a very disappointing result. But what did you think
about the effort, the complete execution you.

Speaker 18 (21:42):
Saw for your team?

Speaker 17 (21:43):
That was a good hockey game for us. We uh,
you know, we probably win that game nine times out
of ten. Uh, tonight wasn't wasn't tonight Their goaltender played
very well. I thought everybody on our team, uh made
an packed for the most part, and I thought we
had enough chance to win the hockey game. Our compete

(22:04):
level was high.

Speaker 2 (22:06):
Uh.

Speaker 17 (22:06):
We played good. Did you think of Matt Murray's game? Ah, yeah,
he played Uh, he played good. He made some big saves,
you know, uh at at the right times.

Speaker 7 (22:16):
Uh. You know.

Speaker 17 (22:18):
It's good on the uh penalty killing the third period.
So you know, I mean just a hockey game. We
could have won and we didn't, and you know you're
gonna have a few of those. You gotta find a
way to bounce back. But uh, there's no question that
that was a that was one of our better games
of the year.

Speaker 18 (22:36):
Is there anything that you noticed, whether it was like
the stars were doing or which your guys were doing
only making it hard to kind of get in psyched about,
get inside, get those dangerous areas in front of their books.

Speaker 17 (22:46):
Yeah, well we had enough chances. You know, there's I
thought we could have shot the buck a couple of times.
I thought we'd deferred, you know, even towards the end.
We had a couple of looks for potentially this lot
and we looked to pass an overpass. But you know,
they blocked some shots. We had a lot of attempts,
and you know, it's one of those nights.

Speaker 5 (23:08):
That reaction from crackingead coach Lane Lamberts, saying that the
compete level was high and that the Crack And probably
win that game nine times out of ten. Oh so
close against Dallas a spot the only goal coming from
Jaden Schortz, but Matt Murray very solid effort in that
twenty two saves Casey to Smith though at the win
thirty saves out of thirty one for the first star
effort as a Crack and fall to one of the

(23:29):
Dallas Stars. Well, come back in a bit. You're listening
to the Global Credit Union Cracking Audio Network.

Ruthie's Table 4

Ruthie's Table 4

For more than 30 years The River Cafe in London, has been the home-from-home of artists, architects, designers, actors, collectors, writers, activists, and politicians. Michael Caine, Glenn Close, JJ Abrams, Steve McQueen, Victoria and David Beckham, and Lily Allen, are just some of the people who love to call The River Cafe home. On River Cafe Table 4, Rogers sits down with her customers—who have become friends—to talk about food memories. Table 4 explores how food impacts every aspect of our lives. “Foods is politics, food is cultural, food is how you express love, food is about your heritage, it defines who you and who you want to be,” says Rogers. Each week, Rogers invites her guest to reminisce about family suppers and first dates, what they cook, how they eat when performing, the restaurants they choose, and what food they seek when they need comfort. And to punctuate each episode of Table 4, guests such as Ralph Fiennes, Emily Blunt, and Alfonso Cuarón, read their favourite recipe from one of the best-selling River Cafe cookbooks. Table 4 itself, is situated near The River Cafe’s open kitchen, close to the bright pink wood-fired oven and next to the glossy yellow pass, where Ruthie oversees the restaurant. You are invited to take a seat at this intimate table and join the conversation.
