Speaker 1 (00:00):
And the cracking power play.

Speaker 2 (00:02):
Look, this is the Kraking postgame Show, brought to you
by Toyota of Olympia. Now for an in depth look
at your Kraken Hockey. It's the post game on the
Emerald Queen Casino Krakin Audio Network.

Speaker 3 (00:16):
We're back inside of Amerate Bank Arena here in Sunrise, Florida,
Everard Fitziu al Kiniski alongside. It was a two one
win for the Seattle Kraken here in Florida. It wasn't
the prettiest of games. It wasn't the cleanest of games.
But as we talked about during the Panthers time out
late in the third period, the Kraken ultimately held on

(00:36):
the win. They did what they needed to do and
that was a character win to close out that game.

Speaker 4 (00:43):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (00:43):
I think you come into these games, whether it's after
the Christmas break, after this Four Nations break, all Star break,
whatever it is, but you come to these games thinking
we just need to be the last ugly team. We
need we need to win less ugly than the other team.
Because I can't believe there are too many games around
the around the league this weekend that would be considered
perfect games. As far as low giveaways, power play, perfect,

(01:05):
penalty coupe kill perfect, et cetera. So you win it
the way you have to. As you said, good teams
find ways to win. The cracking did that tonight. Good
teams find ways to hold on for the win. They
did that as well.

Speaker 1 (01:16):
Well.

Speaker 3 (01:16):
There have been some ugly games around the league today.
Buffalo eight two win at home over the range. It
also happens yep Capital's eight three win in Pittsburgh Flyers
six ' three win at home against the Edmonton Oilers.

Speaker 1 (01:29):
So a low scoring affair here.

Speaker 3 (01:31):
But I'm I'm interested to go back and watch the
highlights of those games and see if they were just
ugly games.

Speaker 1 (01:37):
But the power play gets it done here tonight.

Speaker 3 (01:39):
How about Shane Wright to assists here tonight? He assisted
on both cracking goals, and I think he had a.

Speaker 1 (01:45):
Really good showing in this first game back.

Speaker 5 (01:47):
Yeah, I thought so too. And you know the thing
about Shane's game is that's evolving for me anyway, I
get it. I get a chance to watch him a
little bit behind the play. His positioning on the ice
is getting better, his face offs are getting better, his
defensive play is getting better as well, watching them a
couple of times tonight to track players down and not
be fooled by headfakes. So the full two hundred foot

(02:09):
game is really evolving for him.

Speaker 3 (02:11):
And going back to the Kraken in that third period,
the way that they were able to overcome a little
bit of second period adversity. The Kraken had a massive
deficit I think it was fourteen to two in the
giveaway department going into the third period. The giveaways ended
up sixteen to eleven favor of Seattle.

Speaker 1 (02:31):
So the Kraken cleaned up their game a lot in
the third.

Speaker 5 (02:34):
Yeah, wait perspectives, and it's the thing. If you're averaging
seven per period, you got it down to three in
the third. You definitely improved that area. But you know,
we've seen games of the Krackling where at the end
of the game there's only three giveaways, So that's not
gonna be one of those games here tonight. And again,
giveaways is a big indicator of a slog game, as
we talked about, so it was good to see them
talk about that and clean that up in the third

(02:56):
I think that was a big difference as to our
big reason as to why Florida was able to get
many opportunities, just five shots on goal for them in
the third, at least so far, they might still be
adding an up looking at video there at the end
is there was quite a flurry in front of Joey Decord.

Speaker 3 (03:10):
And speaking of Zoey Decords, as we often say, most
of his starts, another stellar performance by him tonight.

Speaker 5 (03:17):
Yeah, you know the goal that Florida scored. We looked
at it afterwards closer on video and it was actually
a save off of his blocker, but the way his
angle or his blocker was angled, that puck went off
the blocker up into the top of the net. So
you know, he'll be angry about that one because that
was the difference between a one goal game for him
and a shutout to Cord.

Speaker 1 (03:36):
Now four four and one in his last nine. He's
allowed three or fewer goals.

Speaker 3 (03:39):
In eight of those nine games, Cracking winning two to one.

Speaker 1 (03:43):
Here tonight in Florida, we'll go.

Speaker 3 (03:44):
To what time I'll come back and wrap up from
Amerate Bank Arena after this on the Emerald, Queen Casino

We're back inside of Amerate Bank Arena. Here in Sunrise, Florida.
The Seattle Crack in a two to one win over
the defending Stanley Cup champion in Florida Panthers to kick
off their final twenty five games of the regular season
on a high. Note Joey Dcord tonight, turning aside twenty
six of the twenty seven shots he faced here tonight,

(06:25):
and we're waiting the arrival of Shane Wright. Sounds like
he's about two minutes away, So we'll float till then.

Speaker 1 (06:31):
But coming into tomorrow.

Speaker 3 (06:32):
Al we'll talk a lot about this team's performance in
game twos of back to backs. It's not been a
pretty picture this season, but tomorrow is another opportunity for
Seattle to get their first win in a back to
back situation this season and continue to have a good
showing out of this break.

Speaker 5 (06:51):
Yeah, it's not gonna get any easier. Obviously, You're playing
a Tampa Bay Lightning team that's difficult to in their
building to go up against. Unless Stetska is gonna play
in goals for Seattle, he hasn't seen a game yet,
so you've got to play well defensively in the zone
for him. So that's gonna be a big test as well.
But everything else aside. The big test is it's a
second in a back to back series and the crack

(07:12):
and I've not done well, And from a player's perspective,
that would anger me a little bit, and I would
want to get that fixed tomorrow.

Speaker 3 (07:19):
This goes without saying, but I'm gonna ask you anyway,
how important is a good start for the kracking to Pallent.

Speaker 5 (07:26):
You know, it's always important, and I think that I
probably think it's less important than I used to think
because I like Dan bo Bowsman's perspective on this.

Speaker 1 (07:36):
Is.

Speaker 5 (07:36):
Yeah, the first goal is important, you always want it,
but the second goal is probably more important because you
don't want to go down to nothing if you don't
get that first goal. But if you do get that
first one, the second goal becomes important because you might
go up to nothing or it could be tied after first,
after the first, so maybe the second one is a
little bit more important. But a good start can lead
to one, if not two goals.

Speaker 3 (07:56):
While we wait for Shane, let's give us your final takeaways.

Speaker 1 (07:59):
In your three star.

Speaker 5 (08:00):
Well, I'd written down the slog identifiers. I won't go
through them again, at least not in terms of numbers.
It was giveaways. It was falling down. I got into
the double digits, so out there we saw Florida players
doing it as well, stick penalties, et cetera.

Speaker 1 (08:12):
But that slog, at least that first one is over.

Speaker 5 (08:16):
You know, the no goal in the second period, the
coaches challenged that would seem to be a bit of
a turning point for the team, I thought. And then
third the giveaways to cleaning up of the giveaways I
thought was good. Thirteen to four after the second period.
The cracking had given them a way the puck thirteen
time or thirteen times, but sixteen to eleven in the third,

(08:36):
causing more giveaways by Florida.

Speaker 3 (08:39):
All right, we'll go down locker room right now, Shane
Wright to assist here in this one. Shane, congrats on
your big performance first game out of the break. They're
never pretty, but you guys found a way to get
it done. Just take us through this effort from your
group tonight.

Speaker 12 (08:53):
Yeah, I think, like you said, you know, not pretty
is for sure, but you know it's two points against
a really talented team, really high end team, and it's
a great effort all around from a lot of guys
in the room. And yeah, really nice to get that win.

Speaker 3 (09:04):
You now have got points in nine of your last
eleven games. What have you liked about your game? Where
have you seen the biggest improvement of your game? Let's
say since Christmas?

Speaker 12 (09:14):
I think just confidence making plays, just hold on to
the puck, you know, skating as well, using my legs,
using my speed, great space, and just seeing a play
making a play. And you know, I'm playing some pretty
good players around me as well, so that always helps
out a lot.

Speaker 4 (09:25):
Shane.

Speaker 5 (09:25):
I talked to fits about this a little bit moments
ago that I think your game is evolving where you know,
we've talked a lot about faceoffs and offense and that
sort of thing, but tonight I noticed you've made a
couple of great plays defensively in the neutral zone, tracking
players down, lifting sticks, stealing pocks, and even the D
zone as well. Talk about that a little bit.

Speaker 1 (09:43):
How do you feel your D zone is evolving?

Speaker 12 (09:44):
Yeah, I think it's it's a working progress for sure.
It' still a lot of things that can be better with,
but yeah, I mean, especially as a centerman in this league,
you really got to be solid defensively and take care
of going end and being in good spots, being above pucks,
and you always just be in the right position. So
something I'm trying to work on. For sure. I can
definitely be a lot better, but you know we're getting.

Speaker 1 (10:02):
There, for sure.

Speaker 3 (10:03):
I have to ask you your take on the Four Nations.
I have a feeling your name is gonna be on
a on a Team Canada watch list for years to come.

Speaker 1 (10:11):
But what'd ja make of the tournament? Did you watch
any of it.

Speaker 3 (10:14):
Or did you did you get away from hockey over
the break? How was your break and what did you
make of the Four Nations tournament?

Speaker 1 (10:20):
I loved it.

Speaker 12 (10:20):
I watched every game. Yeah, I thought it was electric. Obviously,
the Canny US rivalry was was pretty fun there, and
uh uh, you know, being Canadians, definitely nice seeing Canada
come out on top there. But it was it was
an awesome tournament then, great for hockey, great for growing
the game. And I really really enjoyed watching.

Speaker 3 (10:34):
Who was the biggest smack talker in the locker room
amongst your group?

Speaker 12 (10:39):
I wouldn't say there was a lot of smack talk.
I think just maybe some maybe a couple of side
bets here and there with the Canadians and Americans, But yeah,
definitely nice to get some bragging right there with knad
of winning.

Speaker 5 (10:49):
Sure, Shane Jordan Everley captain back in the lineup tonight.
What effect did that have on you individually and what
effect did it have on the bench.

Speaker 12 (10:57):
Yeah, I mean it's great having him back. You know,
he's our captain. He's he's a you know, loud voice
in her room. He's had a lot of energy and
just a great guy to having the room, great guy
to be around, and you know, great player as well
to have on our team in their lineup. So really
really nice having him back.

Speaker 1 (11:09):
Shane Wright to helpers tonight. Congrats on the performance. We
talk to you tomorrow and Tamba, thanks you guys, appreciate
it all right.

Speaker 3 (11:14):
Cracking forward Shane Wright following tonight's two one win against
the Florida Panthers.

Speaker 5 (11:19):

game for him. And first star goes to Jared McCann
getting that goal, big one plus one game winning goal.

(11:40):
Five shots on goal tonight and he only had one
of the sixteen giveaways.

Speaker 1 (11:44):
That'll be it. That'll do it for us here in Florida.

Speaker 3 (11:47):
But Mike Benton standing by at Network Central to take.

for a follow up act?

Speaker 3 (16:40):
Don drops it off to Schwartz fifteen to goal. The
power play man Ebnye hears down low Cocko scores. What
a move by Coppo, Cocko forehand, backhand back to the

Speaker 13 (17:00):

the Nate Schmidt tripping penalty at four forty three, with
Compocaco picking up his tenth on the year, Maddy Beniers
and Shane Wright with the helper coming at six thirty
two on the power play in Coco getting his ninth
point in ten games lifetime against the Panthers. The Crack
and leading won nothing at the end of one and

(17:22):
nursing that lead well into period two, nearly twelve minutes in.
Who's got the next big chance here for the Panthers.

Speaker 1 (17:30):
Eight and a half to play the period.

Speaker 3 (17:31):
Panthers back to the offensives own Anton Lovedell right side

a one to one tie heading into period three. But
was this the right time for a proven veteran to
get back on track Seattle with.

Speaker 1 (18:43):
Oh my goodness.

Speaker 13 (18:44):
It was about a month ago where Jared McCann told
us he was looking forward to his first goal against
a goaltender rather than non empty net, rather than an
empty net goal as well, And that's a big weight
off his shoulders right there. His fifteen goal of the season,
coming at seven oh three of period three. Adam Larson
and right as well with the helper Shane Wright two
assists in the game. Jared mccannon scores against a former team,

(19:08):
his fifth career goal in fifteen lifetime games against the Panthers,
and as Everett documented, his first non empty net goal
since December twenty second, a big goal putting the Cracking
on top two to one that would hold up his
final as a Crack and held off one last gasp
and rally by the Panthers in the dying seconds of regulation.

(19:29):
Shane Wright two assists game. He's got thirteen points in
his last fifteen games at his tops on the team
in that span, and Joey Decord's been a work course
in that span as well. His sixteenth appearance last seventeen games,
he picks up the victory in net twenty six save

Play the first Nothing too threatening in that first period,
but enough to keep Joey Decord busy as that was
one of eleven saves he turned in for period one,
most out of any three periods in this game, and
a big reason why the Kraken were in position the
Cords efforts and that kept the lead at one. Nothing
through one period of play. Second period, game tight at
