is breaking news today a new.

Speaker 4 (00:22):
Pope has been elected and is the first American pope.

Speaker 3 (00:27):
This is huge, and it's not too many times when
there will be like, save.

Speaker 4 (00:32):
Your thoughts for the actual headline, but we did that, Okay,
just go heread.

Speaker 3 (00:36):
He started that too many times when they're like actual,
like historic events happen, and I'm like, I know exactly
what's going on because I just watched the movie Conclave same,
which is all about electing a pope.

Speaker 5 (00:46):
I'm like, and I'm listening to the news and I'm like, yep,
I knew that.

Speaker 3 (00:50):
Yeah, the smoke, yep, the votes through the thread, yep,
knew how that goes down.

Speaker 4 (00:54):
I watched Conclave then the night that the pope died already,
but you know, just because it was topical don't you.

Speaker 5 (01:00):
Feel smart than everybody else.

Speaker 4 (01:14):
After two days of voting and nothing but black smoke.
Earlier today, we saw white smoke from the Sistine Chapel chimney,
which means a new pope has been elected. One hundred
and thirty three cardinals from around the world came together
to cast their ballots to elect Robert Francis Prevos Premis.

Speaker 5 (01:35):
Still he's still brand new. We're all learning how to
pronounce this.

Speaker 4 (01:39):
He's the first American pope born in Chicago. He took
the name Leo the fourteenth, So Pope Leo the fourteenth.

Speaker 5 (01:48):
Nice, it's official. I like that.

Speaker 3 (01:50):
And again, like I said, we knew exactly how it
goes down because we watched the movie.

Speaker 4 (01:55):
Yeah, it was so exciting. It was so exciting seeing
the smoke after having watched Conclave and like knowing, I
mean not really knowing what's happening inside the doors, but
knowing what's happening inside the doors, you know, and.

Speaker 3 (02:09):
When the people like were announcing, like all right, well
now the pope is going to be asked, does he
accept the votes? What's his name going to be? And
then they're gonna reveal him. I'm like, yeah, just like
the movie, Like, yeah.

Speaker 5 (02:18):
I could have been out there in We could have.

Speaker 4 (02:23):
Hoasted the entire thing. We could have hosted the conclave.
We really could have and knew what we were talking about.
Just like sports love being so smart, just like the
draft kind of heads. He got starve well locally.

Speaker 3 (02:38):

Speaker 7 (03:36):
I hate to admit it, but she was right about
I guess my choice of friends and who really was
a friend and who wasn't a friend.

Speaker 3 (03:43):
MM.

Speaker 7 (03:44):
I always thought he was just being you know, controlling
or a judgie or you know, just yeah, Noah was
cool or who was cool? But I mean, now that
I'm older and i'm ator of my own and I
see who he's hanging out with, I'm trying to tell him.
He's like, no, that kid's about influence. You shouldn't hang
out with him. He doesn't listen to me, to family,
my mom.

Speaker 4 (04:02):
It's such a weird like superpower that you just all
of a sudden have. I'm the same way with my
son too. I'm like, mmm, I don't really like that one.

Speaker 3 (04:10):
You can tell yeah, I wonder how many times I
was that friend, Like, I wonder how many of my
friend's mom said, don't hang out with Strawberry.

Speaker 5 (04:17):
He's gonna get you.

Speaker 3 (04:18):
In trouble every time. What was mom right about this
whole time? Let's go to Julie.

Speaker 8 (04:23):
Do you remember how scary it was when like, your
mom would call you when she's on her way home
and asked him, be like, please take the meat out
of the freezer, and you didn't take it out, and
you're just sitting there watching TV and you're like, oh
my god, she's gonna be here five minutes and that
she's still going to be frozen. Mom was right about
taking that out early, because it is so annoying when
I tell my kids to take that stuff out and

(04:43):
they don't do it.

Speaker 9 (04:44):
Oh my god.

Speaker 2 (04:44):
The full show every afternoon, whatever you want.

Strawberry and Lazette on Sacramento's New Kiss one oh seven
point nine with Mother's Day this weekend.

Speaker 5 (04:58):
We want to know what was your mom right about.

Speaker 9 (05:02):
I don't know about you guys, but when I was
a kid, my mom would always give me this line,
we have food at home. You guys know that one?

Speaker 4 (05:09):
Oh yeah, yep, I used to get in English and Spanish.

Speaker 9 (05:13):
Well, yeah, so I was out the other day at
the grocery store, dropped three hundred dollars and my youngest
was in the car and wanted to go to the
drive through at McDonald's. I'm like no, And I found
myself saying that exact thing.

Speaker 5 (05:25):
We got food at home.

Speaker 9 (05:27):
No, we're not going to the dry through.

Speaker 4 (05:29):
Kids don't care what food is at home because you
have to cook.

Speaker 9 (05:32):
It right exactly that, or they just want that toy
inside a happy meal or something.

Speaker 3 (05:36):
We got food and toys at home, Mia, What was
mom right about?

Speaker 6 (05:41):
Told me that I should never wear a black bro
until I married, and I wore a white bras for
so long and like I wasn't getting any deepe, And
then I realized that if I got a black bra,
like it was hotter. And I mean, my mom was
very like you, you probably would be more respected if

(06:02):
you just try to look like a prude. But no,
she just didn't want the sexy, you know, like too sexy.

Speaker 5 (06:08):
Yeah, did your I've never heard of that. Did your
mom try to pull that on you, Lisette.

Speaker 4 (06:11):
My mom never told us like to wear a certain color,
but she did make a comment like if we were
wearing a bold color, if she could see it, then
she would say something about it.

Speaker 5 (06:21):
I want to join the conversation.

Here's a tip. Don't assume animals at the zoo are
fake and try to get a close up.

Speaker 5 (07:20):
Oh no, who does that? Oh does that?

Speaker 4 (07:24):
A man in the Philippines he was at the zoo,
learned that the hard way when he hopped over a
chain link fence cell phone in hand because he thought
one of the crocodiles was fake and wanted to like
walk up and take pictures and selfies and do all
the things. He got dragged into the water by his
arm and death rolled by this quote fake crocodile. Oh now,

(07:45):
luckily a zoo keeper was able to save him, where
he then went to the hospital and got fifty stitches.
Tell us more about your encounter with this fake crocodile.

Speaker 5 (07:56):
No kidding, you, idiot.

Speaker 3 (07:59):
I'm an animal lover, and when people do stuff like this,
I always worry about, like is this alligator gonna get harambaite? Like,
are they gonna now put the alligator down? Because he
had a taste of what humans taste like, and maybe
he's gonna jump these fences and go hunting.

Speaker 5 (08:15):
Like is the alligator. Okay, the guy's got stitches, I'm
sure to the gator.

Speaker 4 (08:20):
This is the Philippines. Okay, they probably were like, well,
guy's fault, biker's fault.

Speaker 5 (08:25):
Yeah, learn the hard way.

Speaker 4 (08:27):
Who does that?

Speaker 5 (08:30):
The rest of you?

Speaker 4 (08:30):
Curiously like, alligators are not constant moving animals for sure.
They just sit there and let their prey come to them.

Speaker 5 (08:37):
Which it happened in real life.

Speaker 4 (08:39):
Who does that?

Speaker 5 (08:40):
It does that?

Speaker 3 (08:41):
This is one oh seven point nine and the shot
of one thousand dollars to pay your bills.

Speaker 2 (09:40):
Stream live every afternoon from three to seven on Me
Always Free, iHeartRadio app.

Speaker 3 (09:45):
Strawberry and Lazette giving you Hella headlines right now.

Speaker 4 (09:49):
It's been seven months the passing of one Directioner, Liam Payne,
and now we're hearing that he reportedly did not have
a will and left behind in the state worth it
estimated thirty two million dollars ooh, which, as many of
us know, can cause a lot of headaches. Things like
this can get really, really messy. His ex Ryl Tweety,

(10:09):
has been named as one of the administrators of his estate,
as well as a music industry lawyer, Richard Mark Bray.
Much of the estate is going into a trust for
Liam and Tweety's son Bear. The law in England and
Wales says that a person's spouse then child gets first
claim to in a state if there is no will,

(10:30):
so hopefully they'll be able to be able to just
give it all to his son and you know, call
it a day without anyone trying to get involved and
fight over it.

Speaker 5 (10:37):
At that point.

Speaker 3 (10:37):
I mean, once you have a kid, you should probably
start thinking about that. But he had thirty two million
dollars like he should have. Yeah, he should have been
thinking about where does this go, especially.

Speaker 4 (10:46):
If you have that kind of money.

Speaker 5 (10:48):
I know, nobody wants.

Speaker 4 (10:50):
An per se, but you always have to just prepare,
I know, but never know.

Speaker 5 (10:54):
No one wants to face their mortality. Put it off.

Speaker 4 (10:57):
What headlines he got Strawberry.

Speaker 3 (10:58):
Well, locally, we got to say congratu relations to the
teams at three local breweries. They took home medals last
week at the twenty twenty five World Beer Cup. That
is a thing was that it's like the Beer Olympics
kind of. The bronze medal goes to Sacramento's Track seven
Brewing Shred Beer in Rockland won two golds of Nice,

(11:18):
one for their Juicemaster pale Ale Rockland stand Up another
for their micro blaster pale Ale. The World Beer Cup
is the most prestigious competition for brewers, and this year's
event there was over eight thousand entries. So sack Town
is throwing down at the beer cup, pouring one for
you right there.

Speaker 2 (11:38):
I love it the full show, every afternoon, whenever you want.

Speaker 1 (11:42):
It's Strawberry and Lizette on Sacramento's New Kiss one oh
seven point nine.

Speaker 4 (11:47):
Have you heard of the chromebook challenge?

Speaker 3 (11:50):
I just saw this stupid thing on social media today.
It's the when you set the chromebook laptops on fire.

Speaker 5 (11:56):
Julie. Yeah, so I.

Speaker 4 (11:58):
Got an email from my school, and not just for
my son specifically, like all the parents got this email
warning us of this chromebook challenge. And I actually, for
the first time, did not know what this trend was.

Speaker 5 (12:10):
But it's real to me.

Speaker 4 (12:11):
It's real.

Speaker 5 (12:11):
You got an email from school, It's actual.

Speaker 4 (12:13):
I got an email from school because students are doing it.
I guess the challenge. It's what the email says, encourages
students to tamper with school issued chromebook batteries and chargers
in ways that can cause overheating, fires, explosions, smarkings, and
things like that. And I was like, oh, oh my god,
these kids are ridiculous.

Speaker 3 (12:34):
Well, because it's not their chromebook, is not your purchase.

Speaker 5 (12:38):
It's the school.

Speaker 3 (12:38):
It's like, hey, I'll shove a clothes pin or a
paper clip into the USB port.

Speaker 5 (12:42):
And set on fire.

Speaker 4 (12:43):
There's been incidences in the district already here locally, Yeah,
of kids doing this, of course, And so I called
my son down and I said, you better not do
this chromebook challenge. I was like, I just found out
about it, uh huh, and like I'll joke like, of
course it's dangerous, but he knows that. I don't play

(13:04):
with having to pay to reissue chromebooks, chargers or things
like that because he's being irresponsible. Like number one pet peeve.
Now I have to buy a new charger because you
lent it to a friend and didn't get it back.
Now I have to buy a new chromebook because you
wanted to light it on fire or whatever this trend is.

Speaker 5 (13:21):
I was like, do not even think about it?

Speaker 4 (13:24):
Yeah, And he was like, I know, I know, but
I can't believe this is a thing. I usually just
kind of like read these emails and whatever. My son,
my son would never you know, but this I felt
like maybe some of these kids don't actually know what
the outcome of doing something like this could be.

Speaker 2 (13:42):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (13:42):
So I actually sat down and talked to him and
was like.

Speaker 5 (13:45):
Do not Yeah, don't destroy or explode your laptop. Yeah, right,
I want to join the conversation.

Speaker 2 (13:51):
Send Strawberry and Lizette a talkback message while you stream
the New Kiss. When I was seven point nine on
the always free I Heart Radio app, giving you your.

Speaker 4 (14:00):
Daily dose of good news stories right here, Sacramento's a
New Kiss. When I was seven point nine Strawberry and
Less in the afternoon. Six year old Kai Lumpkins in
Texas is inspiring his community every single day just by
playing in a local te ball league, even though he
is wheelchair bound due to his cerebral palsy. With the

(14:22):
support of his mom, Jessica, and of course all his teammates,
he's getting to experience the excitement of sports for the
first time, and he gets so much encouragement on and
off the fields.

Speaker 8 (14:32):
I like the people that's that cheers.

Speaker 4 (14:36):
Loud hitting out here love it. So his mom is
basically his legs like he'll hit the ball, and she
pushes his wheelchair from base to base. She's even fielding
balls and like handing them over to him so he
can throw them to his teammates. So he's getting the

(14:58):
full experience in his mom I'm literally right there by
his side. He also had the support of his dad, Jared,
who's one of the coaches and says that he's been
so proud of his son and his confidence and skills
have been growing more and more. And Kai has even
inspired other kids who are also in wheelchairs to get
baseball a try and see how fun it can be.
With every game and every single day that goes by,

(15:21):
Kai is proof that a positive spirit and a strong
support system can help overcome any challenge. And I must say,
keep in mind, this kid is six years old. That's
very impressive.

Speaker 3 (15:31):
Yeah, and shout out to everybody on the team and
in the league making that sport inclusive for everybody.

Speaker 4 (15:36):
I love it.

Speaker 1 (15:37):
It's Strawberry and Lazette on Sacramento's new Kiss one oh
seven point nine, paying.

Speaker 3 (15:41):
Your bills thirteen times each weekday and Yaira, you just
won one thousand dollars.

Speaker 6 (15:53):

my god, do you know what You're gonna spend this
money on? Anything?

Speaker 3 (16:07):

Speaker 7 (16:07):
