Speaker 1 (00:00):
You know I love a good list and I love
a nostalgia and an nostalgic list. Oh, best of both worlds.
You can't stop me from reading it. It's sunny when
it was six point five. I'm sean. One of my
favorite websites, Reddit dot com. One of the users asked
the community, what's something that was normal to say growing
up that sounds crazy today? And some of the answers
are just so good. I got to print the directions.
(00:21):
Give me a sec I remember I used to map
quest everything before we could GPS everywhere we went. Here's
a quarter call someone who cares? Fine? Is there a
payphone anywhere in Vegas? That one was rude but still funny.
Did you get the newspaper to check the movie times?
How about that? Make sure you rewind it before you
return it. The last time I saw a VHS tape,
(00:42):
someone was using it to prop up a plant above
their kitchen cabinets. Get off the phone, I need to
use the internet. I can't tell you how many times
I got kicked off of AOL because my parents picked
up the phone. And I like this one. Check the
TV guide to see what's on. Don't think we kind
of do that. With Netflix, we spend an hour surfing
(01:03):
around watching previews before we ever decided what we want
to watch. And remember, you'd have the TV Guide channel
on that scrolled You'd be waiting forever for your channel
to pop up, and then you just miss it and
have to wait for the whole thing to scroll through again.
Oh those were the days. See oh six point There
has been a massive increase in the number of cosmetic
(01:23):
surgeries and treatments done on teens here in the United States.
It's sunny when it was six point five, Las Vegas'
best variety of the eighties, nineties, and today I'm Sean
and this is always going to be controversial and stir
up debate, But a new survey shows that some parents
are actually okay with non surgical, non invasive procedures like
laser hair removal or fillers as long as they give
(01:45):
the green light. And there were over two hundred and
forty thousand of those procedures done on teens last year,
laser hair removal and fillers. Now, most parents, I will
say this, think there needs to be a valid reason.
Things like mental health, bullying, Those maybe factors, but there's
a lot of different opinions on how much say that
teens should have over their own image. I remember when
(02:06):
I was in high school a girl that got a
nose job that was a scandal for days. And now
everybody is getting lip fillers and botox here and there.
And I don't know the answer to this. That's the thing.
I can't tell you. I know what the right answer
is here. On the one hand, I think people should
do the things that make themselves happy, so long as
it doesn't hurt anyone else. On the other hand, I
(02:27):
am concerned with people loving themselves and concern for their
mental health. And I think really this is between teens
and their parents and their doctors. And I don't know
what your opinion is on that, but I'd love to
hear it. It's Sunny one of six point five Wake
Up with Sunny Mornings with Joanna and Sean. I'm Sonny
one was six point five? All right, Sonny one oh
six point five. I got a special special treat this morning,
(02:51):
a voice I don't think I or anyone else has
heard for a couple of weeks here joining us on
the phone back on the show this morning, Joanna, how
you doing.
Speaker 2 (03:00):
Very good morning, Happy Monday.
Speaker 3 (03:03):
Yes, you know, it's been such a whirld. When this
past three weeks, I'm like, I gotta check in, let
people know what's been going on.
Speaker 1 (03:10):
I know, well, we were joking about, like me being
prepared to have to deliver a baby in studio potentially speaking,
and thankfully that is not what it came down to.
But you did deliver early, that's for sure.
Speaker 3 (03:21):
Oh my gosh, I know it was so unexpected. My
baby girl, luckily is here and healthy. Isabella Rose Dolman.
She was born May seventeenth, and she did. She came
about three and a half weeks, almost a month early.
And last pregnancy that I went through, I never experienced
my water breaking because I went in for an induction
(03:43):
and a scheduled sea section, and I did not think
that I was going to have to go through this
because I had a scheduled sea section. Actually it's for tomorrow.
It's for tomorrow, June tenth, that is the day Isabella
was supposed to arrive. But I was literally having a peaceful,
relaxing slip. I woke up around twelve thirty five. I
looked at my alarm clock and I'm like, oh my gosh,
(04:05):
I peed my pants.
Speaker 2 (04:07):
Oh no, I must have been sleeping really good because
usually I been going to the bathroom every hour on
the hour anyway at that point, but my water broke,
and it was literally.
Speaker 3 (04:17):
Like a scene in the movie, like I get out
of bed because I started a panic, water everywhere.
Speaker 2 (04:22):
My husband's out of bed.
Speaker 3 (04:24):
We had I mean, when I tell you, Sean, we
had no hospital bag pack, we had nothing ready. I
literally wrapped myself in towels and we went to the
hospital and then they told me once I got there,
listen to your doctor's going to be here in thirty minutes.
We're gonna have to get Isabella out now. It had
to do an emergency C section, So it was it's
honestly been a whirldwind since. But I'm so thankful she's
(04:45):
here and she's healthy.
Speaker 1 (04:46):
So I want to, as someone who's been in the
husband's situation at this particular juncture with an unexpected delivery happening,
how did Andrew your husband handle all of this?
Speaker 3 (04:58):
Well? I was panicking for shore and he was I mean,
I'm telling you, he was like in a deep sleep.
I like tap him on the shoulder panicking.
Speaker 2 (05:05):
I'm like, uh uh, Andrews, I'm pretty sure my water
break out.
Speaker 3 (05:08):
I don't know what's going on.
Speaker 2 (05:09):
I'm not prepared for this.
Speaker 3 (05:10):
He's like he literally, like I mean, it was a
scene out of a movie. He jumped out of bed.
He just threw stuff in a duffel bag. He could
find us on the closet floor, and he's like, Okay,
let's go, let's go, let's get to the hospital. And
he was trying to stay as calm as possible. But
I'll tell you what, Like that weekend when I was
in the hospital and Isabella was delivered, you know, I
(05:31):
had multiple people tell me that weekend in the hospital
said that numerous women's water broke because of the pressure
and the weather change that was going on that weekend
in the air, and that like that's a common thing.
Like I had no idea about this.
Speaker 1 (05:45):
Neither did I I hear about like mercury being in
retrograde and other stuff like that. I didn't know that
the air pressure could cause babies to be delivered. That
is all wild.
Speaker 3 (05:55):
Yes, you know, it was obviously very scary for me.
I even three weeks later now, like I'm still really
processing everything because it was such a whirlwind and like
I said, Isabella's due date is tomorrow, was supposed to
be June tenth, So for me, like, I'm still processing
it all and it came up so quick, but you know,
at the end of the day, there's a clear reason
(06:16):
she needed to come early for whatever it was, and
she's healthy and that's all we're trying to focus on.
But now we're just navigating the world of Oh my gosh,
having a newborn with the toddler is so much harder
than I ever could have imagined.
Speaker 1 (06:27):
You know what I've been loving. I think we've all
been loving the pictures that you've been sharing. And I
think what you're saying is is right. Your health and
happiness and baby's health and happiness is paramount, right. So
I'm glad that everyone is doing well because I'm sure
that it was an uncertain time for you for a
little bit. I know you said you were panicking, but
(06:48):
you're all better now. Isabella is absolutely perfect and beautiful
and we can't wait to see more pictures. And her
middle name Rose That is after your mom, is it not.
Speaker 3 (06:59):
Yes, Isabella Rose Bowman. We decided on Rose well by
the way, my husband, I think because we talked about
this a little bit on the show. My husband did
end up picking the name. I wanted him to really
love the name, and he does, and I do too
love Isabella, but Rose was kind of always going to
be the middle name, named after my mom. I think
it a pretty classic name and we're happy with it
(07:21):
because I remember I was telling you Sean, like we
had we were not like set on any in particular
girl's name. But Isabella is the name, and now she
already has like five nicknames. We're calling her Izzy, b Izzy, Bella.
Speaker 2 (07:34):
I mean, she's got.
Speaker 3 (07:35):
Great nicknames that we just are absolutely in love with.
And she's a really great, healthy baby, and you know,
that's all you can ever ask for in this life.
I mean, my journey was long.
Speaker 1 (07:43):
You know this.
Speaker 3 (07:43):
You know our incredible listeners know this, and just to
be able to have our family complete, like it's a
really incredible feeling that I still feel like I'm in
a whirlwind of a dream experiencing right now.
Speaker 1 (07:54):
Well, thank you for carving out some time here between,
you know, between naps and things to check in. Looking
forward to doing this with you. We'll do this. We'll
call it the same time every week. We'll do a
little out of office checking with Joanna. I have a
beautiful day and send all of our love to the family. Okay,
yes I will.
Speaker 3 (08:10):
And this when I thank everybody out there who has
sent me very kind messages and you know, dms and
notes of well wishes, you know, after finding out that
Isabella was born, I really truly appreciate it and it
means a lot. And then thank you, and I can't
wait to keep checking in every Monday. So hopefully everything's
going good in your world. Shown I'll be back soon,
but yeah, just taking time with the family right now.
(08:31):
So thank you guys for listening this morning.
Speaker 1 (08:33):
Sunny Sunny one o six point five, Las Vegas's best
variety of the eighties nineties, and today it's Sean. If
you missed Joanna calling in a little earlier to check
in for the first time since she's been on maternity leave.
That was fun. Check out the podcast if you missed it.
But I've been having some fun myself finding a sunny
(08:54):
story of the day for you while she's been out.
I like to try to find you ways to save money,
things you can do around town, and Lark County has
just announced a new initiative to provide micro chipping services
for pets for just five dollars. Now. The reason for
that is that microchipping is going to become mandatory as
of Monday, August fourth, and five dollars that is a
(09:15):
hard price to beat. Look, if your pet goes missing
for whatever reason, I've been there. My dog was gone
for eight hours one day. Those microchips they really help
reunite you with your pet. If they end up in
a shelter somewhere, the first thing they do is scan
them for those microchips. And five dollars is a minuscule
amount to pay for the peace of mind that you'll
(09:35):
be reunited with your pet in the event that something
like that happens. So to take advantage of that, you
can go to Hearts Alive, Village, Heaven Can Wait, Animal Society,
and the Nevada SPCA. They will all be doing five
dollars microchipping services. Of course, we'll always put the information
up for you at Sunny one of six five dot com.
Just click on Sunny Mornings and even if you don't
(09:56):
have a pet, share that with someone who does. It's
Sunny one of six point five. This is Sunny Mornings
with Joanna and Sean on sunny one oh six point five. Now,
I would say that we are very fortunate here not
to have a whole lot of natural disasters in the
Las Vegas Valley, but boy, the heat does not play around.
It's sunny wino six point five. I'm Sean, you already
knew that. But we have an extreme heat warning in
(10:17):
effects starting this morning at ten am until ten pm
on Tuesday, high temperatures ranging from one hundred and seven
to one hundred and nine. Look, we all know we
got to stay hydrated, you know where sunscreen, take all
the precautions, but it's this time of year when it
really starts the heat up that we have a lot
of concern for. The unhoused population are homeless in the
streets and their ability to stay hydrated is important as well,
(10:39):
and the Las Vegas Aviators helping out with that. You
can make concessions purchases at the park and donate to
help of H two o's Water and Weather Drive at
every home game starting tomorrow through July twentieth, and as
well as if you do this, they have a pregame
water Extravaganza from five to seven where if you donate
bottled water or to make monetary contributions to help to
(11:03):
H two oh, you will receive tickets to a future
home game. I don't normally travel around with a lot
of extra water in my car, but this is a
good reason to bring some out to the Las Vegas
Ballpark and donate to a good cause and make sure
people aren't overheating out there in the streets. It's sunny
Wino six point five. Stick around seven forty your first
(11:23):
chance of the morning to win tickets to Lego Land
with the name drop and then at Let's see here
nine o'clock, and to get you into our iHeartRadio Music
festival with one thousand dollars to spend, and at nine
forty getting you backstage with new Kids on the Block.
Lots to come here this morning on sunny one of
six point five six point Where do Americans go when
(11:45):
they say bye bye bye sunny one? It was six
point five. I'm sean, that was a terrible joke. I
was looking at this new study on what destinations are
the most popular here in the United States. Las Vegas
was number two, behind New York City as the top
domestic spot for us to visit, and that is followed
right behind us by Hawaii, Miami, Washington, d C. And Orlando. Now,
(12:07):
the study also looked at where US locals like to
go to when we vacation, and the top destinations were
Hoover Dam, Lake Mead, Death Valley, but also the Grand
Canyon and Palm Springs. It would appear that most of
us these days prefer a four or five hour car
ride or we're dealing with airports and airlines. So wherever
you're headed this summer, stay hydrated. I'll say that it
(12:30):
is hot out there today, we've got an extreme heat
warning in effect. But also take us with you anywhere
you go on the free iHeartRadio app and you might
want to do that next because we're going sixty minutes
commercial free to start your workday, and at eight forty
going to get you into Lego Land, California with the
name drop, and then at nine getting you into our
iHeartRadio Music Festival with one thousand dollars to spend. Keep
(12:51):
it here on Sunday one of six point five Sunny
Mornings with Joanna and Sean on Sunny one O six
point five
