Speaker 1 (00:00):
Today's sunny story Today is all about hope, hard work,
and a big heart for our heroes. Now. Veterans Day
was earlier this week and Southern Nevada Air Force veteran
Edwin Santiego Colon received the ultimate gift. Get this a
brand new tiny home.

Speaker 2 (00:15):
I love tiny homes. Those are so cool.

Speaker 3 (00:17):
They really are.

Speaker 1 (00:18):
Now after years of challenges, including overcoming addiction, Edwin says
that this home is the missing piece to his puzzle.

Speaker 3 (00:25):
Get this sean.

Speaker 1 (00:26):
Built from the ground up by local high school students
in shop class.

Speaker 2 (00:31):
That very cool. They had professional oversight, I'm hoping right
they did.

Speaker 1 (00:35):
Wait, yes, they had help from volunteer pros, of course,
but this project proves you know what our.

Speaker 3 (00:40):
Community can do when we come together.

Speaker 1 (00:42):
Now, Edwin says, I felt like I mattered for the
first time, which is, you know, hard to hear from
a veteran who served our country.

Speaker 2 (00:50):
But this is what this project was all.

Speaker 1 (00:51):
About, reminding our vets that they're more than enough. So
we wanted to say a big congratulations this morning to Edwin,
and of course thank you for your amazing service. And
that's going to be your studdy story the day. If
you want to read more about Edwin his story and
check out this amazing new tidy home, you can right
now at Sundy one of six five dot com just
click on his Sunday mornings and now this is the

(01:12):
time of the year to really connect with loved ones,
maybe ones you haven't spoken to in some time. And
our listener Kurt wanted to share his incredible news this morning.

Speaker 2 (01:20):
Well, I've just started talking to my dad again and
I haven't talking in five years.

Speaker 4 (01:25):
Wow, And I'm so grateful, Kurt.

Speaker 2 (01:27):
That is that's incredible. How did this? How did this start?

Speaker 5 (01:31):
I got an email from my dad, who I haven't
heard from in a real good five years, and.

Speaker 4 (01:37):
It was just.

Speaker 5 (01:39):
Kind of wanted to talk and maybe even FaceTime.

Speaker 4 (01:41):
And now you've been talking every.

Speaker 5 (01:42):
Other day and so I kind of got my dad Bass.

Speaker 2 (01:44):
It's pretty cool.

Speaker 3 (01:44):
Man's that's pretty cool.

Speaker 1 (01:46):
And you know, second chances are powerful, So enjoy this
holiday season with your dad.

Speaker 2 (01:50):
Kurt, Thank you, thank you, And hey, speaking of the holiday,
has got some Christmas cash coming your way? Chance at
one thousand dollars coming up at seven am, Sonny one
Little six point five. It's Joanna and Sean on Sunny
Window six point five. I love the end of the
year when Google releases their most googled words of twenty

(02:14):
twenty five, right, because it kind of tells an interesting
story about what we've all been searching for and what's
been on our minds over the last you know, year
or so exactly.

Speaker 1 (02:22):
And a lot has happened in twenty twenty five, everything
from politics to bizarre trends.

Speaker 3 (02:27):
So I think some of these words may.

Speaker 1 (02:29):
Not be a surprise to some people, but I definitely
think some are, and we'll.

Speaker 3 (02:32):
Make you scratch your head.

Speaker 2 (02:33):
Yeah. Well, for instance, the word hyperbole was googled quite
a bit, you know, big exaggerations like it costs me
an arm and a leg, or I have like a
million things to do today. I use that one quite
a bit.

Speaker 1 (02:46):
I don't think I do that, but I'd never actually
say the term, oh, hyperble, I never bring it up
in like conversation, but I definitely I'm like, oh my god,
I've got a million things to.

Speaker 2 (02:55):
Do every day. Yeah, I'll give you a dollar if
you can work the word hyperbolic into conversation today. Niche
has often been used as businesses and careers become more specialized.
I guess people are looking for like job descriptions, right,
like for niche jobs.

Speaker 1 (03:11):
Yeah, like I have a niche interest or you know,
I specialize in a niche whatever it is.

Speaker 3 (03:17):
Yeah, I actually have heard that used a lot more.

Speaker 2 (03:20):
This was the oddest one on the top ten, the
word barm b A r M. Are you familiar with
this one? I am not at all, nor is I
learned something new here. Re first to the froth which
I hate that word, or on fermenting beer or ye'ze
that's so gross. But apparently a lot of bakers and
brewers have needed to google that one this past year,
I guess.

Speaker 3 (03:39):
So, yeah, I've never even heard of it.

Speaker 2 (03:41):
And then rounding out the top ten, might have seen
a lot of this this year. Gas lighting. A lot
of people wanted to know if they have any victim
of gas lighting.

Speaker 3 (03:51):
Dating is tough these days.

Speaker 1 (03:52):
I hear that term thrown out, you know, in the
single dating scene quite often when they're meeting a new
potential significant other and they're like, you know what, that
dude just gas lit me, like and or I see
it on TikTok and stuff. So yeah, I could see
a lot of people wanting to google it and really
understand the meaning.

Speaker 2 (04:07):
Have you you've been get googling gas lighting yourself.

Speaker 1 (04:09):
Joeanned, No, I'm happily married. No, nobody should be gaslighting me.
I have not googled.

Speaker 2 (04:14):
I think you're gaslighting. You've definitely been googling gas lighting.
You just don't remember.

Speaker 3 (04:17):
And that's exactly what you're doing to me right now.

Speaker 2 (04:20):
Coming up next, we're gonna try something brand new here,
Joe in the Know. If it's happening in the news,
in the streets, here locally, Joe's going to tell you
all about it. Next with Joe in the Know. Your
listen name to Sunny Mornings with Joanna and Sean. I'm
Sonny one O six point five, Sonny Windows six point five.
It's Joanna and Sean. If it is happening on stage,

(04:41):
on screen, or around the town, she's got the scoop.
It's time for Joe in the Know.

Speaker 3 (04:46):
First up, the twenty twenty six.

Speaker 1 (04:48):
Grammy nominations are out, and it's.

Speaker 3 (04:50):
A star studded lineup for sure.

Speaker 1 (04:52):
Kendrick Lamar leads with nine nomination, Lady Gaga follows with seven,
and Bad Buddies Sabrina Carpenter and Leon Thomas each score
six Now. Big categories include, of course Record of the
Year contenders like abercadaber by Lady Gaga, Manchild by Sabrina Carpenter,
and apt from Rosie and Bruno Mars.

Speaker 3 (05:12):
Vote right there, yeah, I love that one. Now mark
your calendars. The music's biggest.

Speaker 1 (05:16):
Night happens on my birthday this year, February first. And
in streaming news, HBO Max just dropped season forty one.

Speaker 3 (05:23):
I didn't even know this show existed a beat, Bobby Flay, I.

Speaker 2 (05:26):
You watched that No. Number one season forty one.

Speaker 1 (05:29):
There you go, and also added a new side by
thriller Kingdom.

Speaker 3 (05:33):
Of the Planet of the Apes. Plus have you heard
about this one?

Speaker 1 (05:36):
There's a new haunting take on Frankenstein that's really trending
high right now on Netflix. No.

Speaker 3 (05:41):
It stars Heartthrop Jacob Alordie. You know who that is?

Speaker 2 (05:44):
From a historian?

Speaker 3 (05:45):
How come on, Sean Well Frankenstein.

Speaker 1 (05:48):
If you're looking for maybe a perfect cozy binge night
of horror before the holidays, there you go, and here's
a curveball for you. This morning, an AI generated country
song just made history topping Billboard's Country.

Speaker 3 (06:01):
Digital Song chart.

Speaker 2 (06:03):
Hate It Hate this story.

Speaker 3 (06:06):
With a track called.

Speaker 2 (06:08):
Walk or Walk My.

Speaker 1 (06:09):
Walk No an AI singer or artist name Breaking Rust
now has racked up over three million streams and under
a month, sparking.

Speaker 3 (06:19):
Of course, a major debate about the future of AI
in music. Yeah, I know how you feel about that one,
but that's.

Speaker 1 (06:26):
Your daily Scooba on sound screens and stars, and I
guess some of them now, even AI.

Speaker 3 (06:31):
Your Joe and the No Report.

Speaker 2 (06:33):
Sunny one six point five.

Speaker 1 (06:38):
We want to make your holiday season brighter by giving

(06:58):

Speaker 2 (07:01):
Yeah, do not feel rushed to get out there, but
do definitely feel the urgency in calling us back. If
your name is Judy via Grana, you've got ten minutes
right now. Seven oh two seven nine six one oh
six five. That's our number here. We will be patiently
waiting by the phone for you, Judy via Grana seven
oh two, seven nine six, one oh six five. She's

(07:21):
got a fun name to say, Judy via Grana. I
could say that all day. Ten minutes, Judy, You're on
the clock to get that four pack of Sea World
San Diego tickets. We will call out another name, of course,
at eight forty and in the meantime, score another thousand
dollars in Christmas cash coming up at eight o'clock. Wake
Up with Sunny Mornings with Joanna and Sehn on Sonny
one oh six point five.

Speaker 1 (07:42):
So when was the last time you paid for something
with exact change and embarrassed yourself seven oh two, seven
nine six, one oh six five, Because those days paying
with exact change at some places are.

Speaker 3 (07:54):
Coming to an end.

Speaker 2 (07:55):
It's Joanna and Sean here on Sunny one at six
point five. Yesterday was the last day ever that you
us mint made pennies? That'll be in circulation. McDonald's the
first restaurant to respond to this. They're going to be
rounding your totals up or down to the nearest nickel.
I'm guessing probably more times up than down. Correct, But
when was the last time you embarrassed yourself digging around

(08:16):
trying to pay for exact change. We got Kristin on
the line when this happened to you.

Speaker 5 (08:20):
Well, I actually wasn't embarrassed until what happened at the end.
So my boss took a few of us out for lunch,
and it was understood that we were all going to
pay our own way. It wasn't like a company, you know, affair,
and I had exact change. When the lunch bills all
came and they all whipped out their credit cards, but
I had the exact change, and I left my lunch

(08:44):
amount and I left the tip, and I could see
that my boss was looking at me kind of funny.
And she actually took me aside later and said it
was inappropriate for me to pay with cash when everyone
else was using plastic.

Speaker 2 (08:58):
Yeah, that's so weird, she.

Speaker 5 (09:01):
Said, if you come out to lunch with us again,
you really need to not do that again. I thought
he would the one who should be embarrassed, not me.

Speaker 3 (09:10):
What was your reaction to that?

Speaker 1 (09:11):
I don't know if I could bite my tongue if
my boss was saying that to me.

Speaker 5 (09:15):
Right, it's your boss, she said, she understood, but I
you know. I don't think she really did.

Speaker 2 (09:23):
Yeah, it's like you're saying your money's no good here,
like my money's good everywhere. This is legal tender lady.

Speaker 5 (09:28):
No, and I haven't been asked out again, so maybe
you know, I don't know.

Speaker 1 (09:33):
Wow, that's yeah, that's interesting.

Speaker 5 (09:36):
I'm not embarrassed about it, but I felt like she
thought I should have been.

Speaker 3 (09:40):
Thank you for sharing that, Christ and we appreciate the call.

Speaker 5 (09:43):
You're welcome, have a great day.

Speaker 2 (09:45):
Thank you for the call.

Speaker 1 (09:46):
And hey, we're gonna take more calls coming up next
and the name drop featuring SeaWorld San Diego tickets your
chance to win coming up an eight forty six. It
looks like the days of digging around for pennies are coming.

Speaker 2 (10:02):
To an end, Sonny when it was six point five.
It's Joanna and Sean. This is kind of all over
social media yesterday. But yesterday was the very last day
that the US Treasury minted anie pennies for circulation. So
you know, there's millions out there, but they're not making
They're not making anymore. Places like McDonald's are going to
be rounding your orders, your totals up or down to

(10:24):
the nearest nickel. So you can still pay with a card,
of course, But we're asking about the last time you
embarrassed yourself trying to dig around for exact change. Farah,
what happened to you?

Speaker 4 (10:35):
So I just recently, like just went through my car,
like cleaned it out and everything, and I saw that
I had like a bunch of change. So I went
to the gas station and I literally with my phone
obviously calculated like how much of everything I was buying,
like my snacks and drinks and whatever.

Speaker 2 (10:52):
And I brought the.

Speaker 3 (10:53):
Coins and here.

Speaker 4 (10:55):
I am literally trying to count big oh hey, here's
a dollar in quarters, here five like whatever, you know,
And I was just the person behind who like literally
said to me, don't you have a card or do
you just have a or do you have like actual cash?

Speaker 2 (11:09):
And I'm like I'm almost done.

Speaker 3 (11:10):
I I promise, I'm so sorry.

Speaker 4 (11:12):
And then like I was, but I was like rushing.
Then my anxiety kicked in, and I'm just like, I'm
never gonna do this again. I'll just take my coins
and go to like the coin machine to get dollars
back or whatever.

Speaker 1 (11:24):
Oh yeah, it give me a little bit embarrassing, but hey,
I mean money's money, right, Yeah exactly, I get it.

Speaker 2 (11:31):
Sometimes you just want to get rid of all that
change you got laying around, but then you end up
with a line behind you every single time.

Speaker 4 (11:37):
Yeah exactly.

Speaker 3 (11:38):
Thanks Sarah for the call this morning.

Speaker 4 (11:40):
Thanks guys, have a good one, you too, Farah.

Speaker 2 (11:43):
Coming up next, we're going an hour commercial free and
getting you some SeaWorld tickets with the name drop at
eight forty. This is Sunny Mornings with Joanna and Sean.

Speaker 5 (11:51):
I'm Sunny when I was six point five.

Speaker 3 (11:53):
This is so cool.

Speaker 1 (11:54):
There's actually a company out there willing to pay somebody
thousands of dollars to watch Christmas movies this holiday season.

Speaker 2 (12:03):
It is Sunny Mornings at Joanna and Sean. Now, cabletv
dot Com is looking to name their official chief of
Cheer And what comes with that job description is you
have to watch twenty five Christmas movies in twenty five
days and they're going to pay you twenty five hundred dollars.
Do you think you could get through that many Christmas
movies and in twenty five days? Joanna?

Speaker 3 (12:23):
Easy?

Speaker 2 (12:24):
Yeah, easy? I figured you would embrace.

Speaker 3 (12:26):
This, Oh my honestly, please, yes, I would love it.

Speaker 2 (12:30):
I don't know, I think I might crack if I
have to get through some of these movies on this list.
Let's let's roll through some of the ones. They have
all these different platforms. It's not just cable TV. It's
Disney plus, Hulu, Hallmark, et cetera. There's some look, there's
some classics here, like The Nightmare Before Christmas, the Santa
Claus Miracle on thirty four Street. Like a lot of

(12:50):
really great options to choose from, right.

Speaker 3 (12:53):
That's amazing.

Speaker 1 (12:54):
So, I mean, for me personally, I haven't met too
many holiday movies that I don't like, uh huh, except
one particular movie that.

Speaker 3 (13:03):
I can recall.

Speaker 2 (13:03):
What is that movie that would make you crack for me? Sean?

Speaker 3 (13:06):
It's Home Alone three.

Speaker 2 (13:09):
We pretend that one doesn't exist.

Speaker 1 (13:10):
And anytime like a series, especially a holiday series, hits
number three, it is long gone for me.

Speaker 3 (13:16):
It is just overly cheesy, corny.

Speaker 1 (13:19):
And I remember watching that one back and like, what's
the late nineties or something, and being like they should
have never have done this.

Speaker 3 (13:26):
Who thought this was a good idea?

Speaker 1 (13:27):
If you don't have Macaulay Culkin, you can't do a
home alone anything.

Speaker 2 (13:31):
You're one hundred percent correct. I think for me, I
would crack when I got to any of the Hallmark
Plus movies. If I have to see one more setup
about a woman going back home to her small hometown
and reconnecting with the guy that was never supposed to
be a match for her, I might lose my mind. Sunny,
when it was six point five, were coming right back
with your chance at second Road tickets to see the

(13:53):
Jonas Brothers at MGM Grand Garden Arena. Don't move, Sunny
one or six. Pbo Bryson on Studay one O six
point five, Las Vegas Official Christmas Music Station, Joanna and Sean.
I love the name Peebo. Never met one though outside
of Christmas Music, I don't think so either. A great
name for a dog, Pebo. Yeah, don't tell people, don't

(14:15):
tell Pebo Bryson that. Let's get you some tickets to
see the Jonas Brothers. They're gonna be at MGM Grand
Garden Arena Saturday, November twenty ninth, And every day this
week we've been getting you closer and closer to the
front row and today second row tickets.

Speaker 1 (14:30):
That's right, So what you're gonna do is head on
over to the free iHeartRadio app, and you are going
to submit a talkback message with this keyword. And your
keyword right now is sucker. So leave us a talkback
mess message with the word sucker, and you're eligible to sit.

Speaker 3 (14:45):
Second row to see the Joe Bro. They're gonna be
sweating all over you.

Speaker 2 (14:49):
You've got three more chances today at twelve forty, two forty,
and four forty and we're gonna do it all again
tomorrow for front row tickets. Do not miss it year
On Sunday one six point five, another chance at Christmas

Ruthie's Table 4

Ruthie's Table 4

For more than 30 years The River Cafe in London, has been the home-from-home of artists, architects, designers, actors, collectors, writers, activists, and politicians. Michael Caine, Glenn Close, JJ Abrams, Steve McQueen, Victoria and David Beckham, and Lily Allen, are just some of the people who love to call The River Cafe home. On River Cafe Table 4, Rogers sits down with her customers—who have become friends—to talk about food memories. Table 4 explores how food impacts every aspect of our lives. “Foods is politics, food is cultural, food is how you express love, food is about your heritage, it defines who you and who you want to be,” says Rogers. Each week, Rogers invites her guest to reminisce about family suppers and first dates, what they cook, how they eat when performing, the restaurants they choose, and what food they seek when they need comfort. And to punctuate each episode of Table 4, guests such as Ralph Fiennes, Emily Blunt, and Alfonso Cuarón, read their favourite recipe from one of the best-selling River Cafe cookbooks. Table 4 itself, is situated near The River Cafe’s open kitchen, close to the bright pink wood-fired oven and next to the glossy yellow pass, where Ruthie oversees the restaurant. You are invited to take a seat at this intimate table and join the conversation.
