Speaker 1 (00:00):
Sunny whin. I was six point five. Good morning.
Speaker 2 (00:02):
It's Joanna and Sean and it's Thanksgiving week. The next
few days are going to fly by, and if you're
planning on going to someone else's house for the big
feast this year, there's a website out there that has
some thoughts on how to be the perfect Thanksgiving house guest.
Speaker 3 (00:17):
We're going to help you avoid, you know, some social
faux pause so that you don't maybe embarrass yourself and
then replay that moment in your head for years. Look,
the fact is you probably aren't going to have to
help in the kitchen. The vast majority of people that
are hosting, they've got a system in place, right, Like,
they know what they want to do and when, and
they just don't want people getting in their way in
the kitchen, right.
Speaker 2 (00:37):
Joanna, Absolutely, I think that's actually pretty high. It looks
like two thirds of cooks out there have a system. So, yeah,
don't cross the line into their kitchen without asking.
Speaker 1 (00:46):
I think that should be probably.
Speaker 3 (00:47):
Rule number one, right exactly, stay in your own home court.
But here's some other things not to do. Don't bring
your own like tupperware for leftovers. It's a little tacky.
Chances are they will like offer you some, but don't
show up with the tupperware.
Speaker 4 (01:00):
It's just like presumptive and kind of kind of weird, right.
Speaker 1 (01:03):
So weird. Oh my gosh, this one's a good one too.
Speaker 2 (01:06):
Avoid bringing a dish that needs a lot of work
once you arrive. If you're going to be bringing a dish,
have it all ready to go. If it needs to
be heat up, that's fine. But if you have to
prepare it there, there's no point.
Speaker 5 (01:17):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (01:17):
And also, you don't need to be the host.
Speaker 3 (01:19):
Don't start rearranging tables and telling people where they should
sit like that is absolutely none of your business. Maybe
offer to be the bartender or hang up coats, like,
you know, just just lend a helping hand.
Speaker 4 (01:30):
But you don't need to be in the kitchen exactly.
Speaker 2 (01:33):
Recently on social media, I saw somebody like write a
post and it said, I am not.
Speaker 1 (01:39):
A good cook, I'm not a good shopper, but what
I do do.
Speaker 2 (01:42):
Really well is bring the Thanksgiving vibes.
Speaker 1 (01:44):
I bring the fun. I can make a.
Speaker 2 (01:46):
Mean drink, and I just love that confidence. If you
know you're not good at cooking, lead that to the
pros and just make it a fun environment for everybody.
Speaker 3 (01:54):
Right, And if you literally can't do any of that
worst case scenario, just grab a sponge at the end
of that night and just help clean, right, because even
if people don't want help in the kitchen, they are
usually more than likely happy to let you clean up
at the end of the night.
Speaker 1 (02:08):
Exactly.
Speaker 3 (02:10):
We got our sunny story of the day coming up next, Joanna,
what you got?
Speaker 4 (02:13):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (02:13):
For some parents, finding affordable early education can feel impossible,
but there is one campus who is changing the game
and giving kids a bright start in two languages. We'll
fill you in on all those details. That your sunny
story of the day, and it's coming up next.
Speaker 4 (02:29):
Sunny one oh six point.
Speaker 3 (02:34):
It is Joanna and Sean on Sunny Window six point five,
a little slice of something good local if we can
help it, It's our sunny story of the day, Joanna,
what's going on For.
Speaker 2 (02:44):
Many Spanish speaking families here in the valley? Finding affordable
early education that feels welcoming can be tough, But one
local campus is changing that and opening doors parents didn't
even know existed. The Nevada Ready pre K program now
offers a free full day classroom where children can learn
(03:04):
in both.
Speaker 1 (03:05):
Spanish and English.
Speaker 2 (03:06):
Wow, it's being held at Children's Learn and Play Campus
by lingual teachers help little ones feel at home while
preparing them for kindergarten.
Speaker 4 (03:15):
That is incredible.
Speaker 3 (03:17):
Look, when you're that small, I mean, a classroom can
already be intimidating and foreign to you. So anything that
makes education more accessible, more comfortable for these kids is amazing.
Speaker 1 (03:26):
I love it absolutely.
Speaker 2 (03:28):
Now, for parents like Rosa Mengia, this program is truly
life changing. This lifts financial stress and gives her son
the best possible start. She says, it's a huge weight
off my shoulders, and I know she's not the only
parent out there feeling this.
Speaker 1 (03:43):
Now.
Speaker 2 (03:43):
The best part, there's still room for our families to join,
because every child truly deserves a bright start here in
southern Nevada. So we're going to put up all the
details right now about Children's Learn and Play at Sunny
one oh six five dot com.
Speaker 1 (03:58):
Just click on Sunny Mornings.
Speaker 2 (04:00):
Now, let's hear some good news from Leslie this morning.
Speaker 1 (04:03):
Tell us what's going on, Leslie.
Speaker 5 (04:05):
My good news is that I finally lost the final
twelve pounds that had been sticking to my thighs for
the last year and a half.
Speaker 4 (04:15):
That's awesome, a great job. Well, what was your secret?
Speaker 5 (04:18):
I feel like I starved myself, but that's not what happened.
I just really, honestly, I really I got an accountability
partner for the gym. This elderly lady just like really
became my partner in crime at the gym. And I
started drinking a clasp of.
Speaker 4 (04:34):
Water and it just totally.
Speaker 5 (04:37):
That was what I needed. So it took down my
appetite cause I was just drinking water all the time.
Speaker 1 (04:42):
Sure, congratulations, Leslie. Right before the holidays too. That's a
motivational Monday right there.
Speaker 4 (04:48):
Sunny Mornings with Joanna and Sean.
Speaker 6 (04:50):
On Sunny one, I was six point five.
Speaker 2 (04:52):
Sunday Mornings with Joanna and Sean right here on Sunny one,
I was six point five good mornings. So if you
are looking to up your dating game, we've got the
hint for you this morning. Do you want to take
a guess on maybe what could help people these days
up their dating game?
Speaker 3 (05:08):
Sean, it's not I can't be other people in the picture.
I would guess. That's always a strange moment. People include
others And you got to figure out, like, who's who?
Speaker 1 (05:17):
People do that? Right?
Speaker 2 (05:18):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (05:18):
Yeah, no, no, that's not it, but you're kind of close.
Speaker 2 (05:21):
It does involve something else in the picture with you.
Speaker 4 (05:24):
I don't know. It's a dog.
Speaker 3 (05:26):
Ah, okay, man's best friend.
Speaker 6 (05:28):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (05:29):
So, according to a new survey done by Pepsis, it
looks like women who include a medium sized dog in
their profile picks are rated about seven percent.
Speaker 3 (05:39):
More attractive, seven percent more attractive just for having a
dog in their pictures when it.
Speaker 4 (05:44):
Comes to women.
Speaker 2 (05:45):
But get this, for guys, the magic number is even bigger.
Men with a puppy in their photo are seen thirteen
percent more attractive.
Speaker 3 (05:54):
So the idea here is steal a dog if you
don't have one. If you've got a friend with a puppy,
good bar, you've got a neighbor. See, I'm to get
a quick selfie with your puppy real quick from my
dating profile.
Speaker 1 (06:05):
Honestly, that's it.
Speaker 2 (06:06):
I mean, I mean, I think this is a pretty
big boost in terms of people perceiving you as more
attractive just because you have a four legged, furry friend
in the photo with you.
Speaker 3 (06:16):
I'm googling this as we speak because I need to
find out more about this out of curiosity? Did I
say anything about fish? Because men love to put a
picture of themselves holding a fish on their.
Speaker 4 (06:24):
Dating profile forrtually not fish.
Speaker 2 (06:26):
It does mention cats, and it's not good news for
cat lovers.
Speaker 1 (06:30):
Now, if you have a cat in.
Speaker 2 (06:31):
Your photo and you are a woman, you are only
perceived about two percent more attractive, and for men just
three percent more attractive. So if you're looking for more
swipe rights, then I guess you know a free friend,
four legged, furry friend. In terms of being a dog
in your secret weapon.
Speaker 3 (06:47):
Well cats can't hurt, but dogs are clearly the winners here,
I guess.
Speaker 4 (06:50):
All right, yes, good to know.
Speaker 3 (06:52):
Coming up after seven o'clock, we're going to tell you
what you can and cannot fly with for Thanksgiving this year.
Speaker 4 (06:59):
There are some rules that even have.
Speaker 3 (07:00):
Joanna and I a little bit surprised here as far
as what you can and cannot keeping the cabin with you.
It's coming up after seven Sunday Mornings with Joanna and
Sean six point.
Speaker 1 (07:14):
Sunny one or six point five. Las Vegas is official
Christmas music Station. It's Joanna and.
Speaker 2 (07:18):
Sean and all right, Thanksgiving travelers, We've got a heads
up for you this morning before you even pack your
carry on.
Speaker 3 (07:26):
I've already seen plenty of notices from airlines that are
encouraging people to get to the airport like three four
hours in advance at this point. So what we want
to do here is make sure that you're not wasting
any more time dealing with security and TSA than you
need to exactly.
Speaker 2 (07:40):
And I feel like these rules are pretty simple to remember.
Speaker 6 (07:42):
Now.
Speaker 2 (07:42):
I know you may be flying out to as a
family and friends and you want to help with the
Thanksgiving feast, but if it's in a can, don't bring
it on board. We're talking about cranberry, sauce, gravy, anything that's.
Speaker 1 (07:54):
In a can. Tsaay, say that that.
Speaker 2 (07:56):
Is a no go and we'll have to unfortunately remove
that from your bag.
Speaker 4 (08:00):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (08:01):
Well, there's the thing is there's liquid in these things,
right in these cans. So things like wine, canned fruit
and vegetables, even jams, jellies, maple syrup especially, all of
these things can prove to be a headache should they burst,
you know, in your luggage.
Speaker 4 (08:17):
Right, So they want to avoid all of that.
Speaker 3 (08:18):
But here's what I find fascinating that that certainly can
fly you can bring baked goods. You can bring meats,
either cooked or uncooked. I'm surprised raw meat can fly,
if I'm being very honest with you.
Speaker 1 (08:30):
Yeah, that seems kind of gross.
Speaker 3 (08:33):
Stuffing castle roles including mac and cheese can fly, as
well as raw vegetables and fruits.
Speaker 4 (08:39):
That seems fine to me. Raw vegetables and fruits.
Speaker 2 (08:41):
Yeah, And I think I think the biggest thing is
that the turkey.
Speaker 1 (08:44):
The turkey can fly. That's a good thing for a
lot of people.
Speaker 2 (08:47):
But how awkward would that be You're sitting on a
plane and someone brings a turkey.
Speaker 4 (08:50):
On Yeah, just a.
Speaker 1 (08:53):
Put under the seat right here.
Speaker 4 (08:56):
Awkward.
Speaker 3 (08:57):
No, So hopefully you found that to be a little
bit helpful. But I would say, as as a rule,
as Joanna mentioned, if it's in a can, do not
bring it on board. We just want to save you
a little bit of a headache. If you're doing some
traveling or know someone else who is, you can pass
that knowledge right on along. Coming up seven forty, we're
dropping names for just a couple more days this week
to get you in the family out to see World
(09:18):
San Diego next chance at seven forty.
Speaker 4 (09:20):
Make sure you're signed up at Sunny one of six
five dot com.
Speaker 6 (09:23):
You're listening to Sunny Mornings with Joanna and Sean on.
Speaker 4 (09:26):
Sonny one oh six point five.
Speaker 3 (09:28):
Joanna and Sean on Sunny Window six point five. If
it is happening locally in Hollywood or on screens somewhere,
Joanna knows about it.
Speaker 4 (09:36):
It's the Joe in the no It's going on.
Speaker 2 (09:37):
So big news at the box office over the weekend,
Wicked for Good is to fight gravity with a massive
one hundred and fifty million dollars North American opening, making
it the biggest debut.
Speaker 1 (09:48):
Ever for a Broadway musical adaption.
Speaker 3 (09:51):
That does not surprise me at all given the press
that has been around these movies.
Speaker 1 (09:54):
Incredible, Yeah, I get this.
Speaker 2 (09:55):
For this year, it's second only to Minecraft's opening weekend.
Speaker 3 (09:59):
Okay, it does surprise me. That does surprise me, right there? Minecraft?
Wow Power video games for real?
Speaker 2 (10:05):
Now, I would guess you are, But Sean, admit to
me this morning, are you a Hillary Duff fan?
Speaker 4 (10:10):
Yes, there are dozens of us out there.
Speaker 1 (10:13):
I think I'm way more than a dozen.
Speaker 2 (10:15):
And you all can rejoice this morning because after a
decade away from music, she's making a major comeback with
a new album called Luck or Something Now that will
drop February twentieth next year. Pre Orders are now live,
and Hillary's actually pairing the release of her new album
with an intimate tour and a docu series that will
give fansy behind the scenes look at her journey back
(10:35):
to the stage.
Speaker 3 (10:36):
I will I will listen to the album. I don't
know that i'll watch the documentary, but that's very cool.
Speaker 2 (10:40):
I think it's actually gonna be really good. And what's
the fan base called for? Hillary Duff?
Speaker 4 (10:44):
The Duffs it should be. I don't know. I like
that though, I'm a Duff right exactly.
Speaker 2 (10:50):
And finally, get this, Lenny Kravitz had a wild night
in Brisbane, Australia. Literally, while he was performing on stage,
very enthusiastic fan accidentally ripped.
Speaker 1 (11:02):
Out four dreadlocks right.
Speaker 2 (11:05):
Out of his head and Lenny left it.
Speaker 4 (11:07):
Off on Instagram.
Speaker 3 (11:08):
That feels like a real painful accident, borderline crime. Honestly,
if I'm nuts listen.
Speaker 2 (11:13):
In his very sexy Lenny way, he called the night
wild and actually addressed the fan on Instagram and said, baby,
do you know how strong you have to be to
rip out my dreadlocks. I think he seemed more impressed.
Speaker 1 (11:25):
So there you go, right.
Speaker 3 (11:26):
I imagine he's seen some crazy things in his life. Probably
doesn't scratch the service for him exactly.
Speaker 1 (11:31):
Not only is he talented, but he's sexy and strong too.
And that's your Joe.
Speaker 2 (11:35):
In the No Report All Things Sounds, Screens and Starts,
Sonny Wheer six.
Speaker 4 (11:39):
Point Joanna and Sean on Las Vegas.
Speaker 3 (11:45):
His official Christmas music station Sunny Window was six point five. Now,
one family photographer claims to had cracked the code when
it comes to happy holiday pictures. Now, Joanna, you've already,
as the person in this room who is the queen
of incredible family photos, You've already knocked out your holiday.
Speaker 2 (12:04):
Pictures this year, right, I did with adding another one
to the photos this year. I knew it was going
to be rougher than ever, so I wanted to get
ahead of it a little bit. And yes, ours are
complete and done.
Speaker 3 (12:15):
So I'm assuming you had to have used some kind
of a trick perhaps to get both Brock and Isabella
to be smiling during these photos.
Speaker 2 (12:22):
Yes, yes, two different techniques because of their ages. But
Brock was guaranteed a smile with the crocodile handpuppet and
Isabella super easy right now smiles.
Speaker 4 (12:31):
With the Peekaboo wonderful.
Speaker 3 (12:33):
So there is a family photographer by the name of
Alison Burris and she went viral with this, claiming she's
come up with the perfect way to guarantee smile from
kids and it's pretty straightforward. It's bribery, right, We've all
done it went wrong with it. The idea here is,
instead of delaying the gratification until after the photos are done,
promising something at a later time, you feed your kids'
(12:53):
bites of ice cream in between photos and they're smiling
from ear to ear now. Since posting it on social media,
she's had clients show up for their own photo sessions
with ice cream in a cooler and it has been
working very well for them.
Speaker 2 (13:08):
I mean, in my world, at least with the rock
it would be so messy and like that, like one
bite is not enough for him. I wouldn't be able
to do like one bite and get him to smind
I have to clean them up.
Speaker 1 (13:18):
And I mean, I'm glad it's working for some kids
out there. Do you think it would work for your kids?
Speaker 4 (13:22):
It would work for me?
Speaker 3 (13:23):
I mean absolutely I think I'm going to try this
now because art too often we're like, hey, if you're
good now, later we will go and do this thing.
Speaker 4 (13:32):
Yeah. Absolutely, but I'm trying to.
Speaker 3 (13:33):
Writen their moods in the immediately I think when it
comes to this. So I'm going to keep this in
mind for the pictures with Santa this year. Nice, we
still got an hour of commercial free music on the
way and we're sea World tickets at eight point forty.
Speaker 4 (13:45):
But what's coming up next in the Sunny Story of.
Speaker 2 (13:47):
The Day, Well, for some parents, finding affordable early education
can feel impossible, but one campus out there is changing
the game and giving kids a bright start in two languages.
We'll give you those details with the Sunny Story of
the Day.
Speaker 4 (14:00):
Wake Up with Sunny Mornings with Joanna and Sean
Speaker 6 (14:04):
