Speaker 1 (00:00):
Sunday Mornings with Joanna and Sean right here on Sunny
when I was six point five. The countdown is officially odd.
Just a few days away until Thanksgiving. And I know, Sean,
you mentioned that your Thanksgiving is going to be a
little bit different this year.

Speaker 2 (00:13):
Yes, so my family has invited over to some friends
of ours here for Thanksgiving and they are vegetarians.

Speaker 3 (00:21):
Okay, so for the first time.

Speaker 2 (00:23):
Ever, our Thanksgiving is going to be completely not just birdless,
but I mean meatless all together.

Speaker 3 (00:30):
Never done this before.

Speaker 1 (00:31):
Appetizers, the sausage, and the stuffy yeah, all those places
that meet can kind of find its way into huh yeah.

Speaker 3 (00:38):
Absolutely. Now I'm not quite sure what to expect.

Speaker 2 (00:41):
I don't want to say that I'm not skeptical, so
to speak, but I'm definitely intrigued. Right Yeah, I don't
know if there's going to be tofu on the table
or I really don't know what to expect from a
like a Thanksgiving that is that is completely meatless.

Speaker 3 (00:55):
Have you ever done anything like this before?

Speaker 4 (00:56):
I've never.

Speaker 1 (00:57):
No, I mean I'm not a vegetarian, and no, you
know close to us really are so, but I mean,
let me ask you this when they invited you to Thanksgiving? Obviously,
did they tell you upfront they would have no meat? Like,
how did that conversation come to be?

Speaker 3 (01:11):
Yes?

Speaker 2 (01:11):
Well, not, it was implied because we've had dinner at
their house once before, okay, and we knew ahead of
time that they were vegetarians. Now they're so sweet because
they know that we don't have family that's in town
or going or whatever, so we were going to be alone,
and they said, you guys, come have Thanksgiving with us
at our home. And that's such a generous offer to
open up your home to someone, So of course we
said yes. And I'm going in there fully optimistic and

(01:35):
looking I'm excited about what's going to be on that table.

Speaker 4 (01:38):
Fully embracing their lifestyle choice.

Speaker 2 (01:40):
Yes, one hundred percent, because look, we've done like meatless
mondays and stuff like that or whatever from time to
time at my home, but never something like a Thanksgiving
meal which is so mostly dependent upon meat on the table.

Speaker 3 (01:53):
Right, So right, I am.

Speaker 2 (01:54):
I'm actually looking forward to how we might be able
to like see the way they do this and maybe
incorporate some other like meatless options into our own lives
in other places.

Speaker 1 (02:03):
Yes, And I always say the side dishes are the
main attraction, so I think you'll be able to do
it just fine.

Speaker 4 (02:10):
I can't wait for you to report back.

Speaker 2 (02:11):
Oh, I'm sure there'll be plenty of potatoes and stuffing right, yes,
all the carbs coming up next to our sunny Story
of the day, Joanna, what you got going on?

Speaker 3 (02:19):
All right?

Speaker 4 (02:19):
Well, today's sunny story of the day.

Speaker 1 (02:21):
I'm going to tell you how your kindness can go
twice as far starting today and help some furry friends
along the way.

Speaker 4 (02:27):
Stick around for those details.

Speaker 3 (02:29):

what's going on? What's the good news today?

Speaker 1 (02:42):

which is a local nonprofit dedicated to giving cats a
second chance at life and an honor of giving Tuesday
coming up on December second, They've launched an incredible campaign
with a ten thousand dollars matching gift, which means three
dollars donated now through December second will go twice as far.

(03:04):
To help cats find loving homes.

Speaker 3 (03:06):
I always forget about giving Tuesday.

Speaker 2 (03:08):
That's a great reminder, and I love anything where your
donation gets doubled.

Speaker 4 (03:11):
Absolutely.

Speaker 1 (03:11):
Now, this effort isn't just about raising funds, though, it's
about creating happy endings for pets and families alike.

Speaker 4 (03:17):
Now, with community.

Speaker 1 (03:18):
Support, Homeward Bound can provide medical care, shelter, and the
love these cats need until they meet their forever family members.

Speaker 3 (03:25):
Always a concern I think for a lot of people.
So that's good news.

Speaker 5 (03:28):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (03:28):
So if you've ever thought about making a difference, now
is the perfect time, and your kindness and donation will
go twice as far. So that's your sunny story today.

Now let's hear from Lisa, who has some good news
to share.

Speaker 4 (03:45):
So I got a speeding ticket.

Speaker 1 (03:47):
I know it sounds like bad news, but I went
into the courtroom.

Speaker 5 (03:50):
The cops didn't show up.

Speaker 3 (03:52):
I thought the ticket.

Speaker 5 (03:53):
I told them what happened, and I didn't have to
pay two hundred and fifty bucks.

Speaker 2 (03:56):
Hey yeah, lay that, lay that, and you're still you're
not guilty, I wasn't.

Speaker 5 (04:02):
Yes, that's the judge.

Speaker 1 (04:05):
Awesome, Lisee, congratulations.

Speaker 4 (04:07):
Now that's a great way to kick off thanks.

Speaker 3 (04:09):
Getting week Sunday lost six.

Speaker 1 (04:14):
Sunny Mornings with Joanna and Sean right here on Sunny
when I was six point five. I know a lot
of people already probably planning their Black Friday shopping roots
and getting ahead of it, but probably still wondering.

Speaker 4 (04:26):
Where am I going to get the best deal this year?

Speaker 3 (04:28):
Right?

Speaker 2 (04:29):
Wallet Hub has been a big help every year in
figuring this kind of stuff out. So if you're curious
which stores are offering the best deals on specific items,
what they did is wallet Hub analyzed over three thousand
deals from thirteen major stores you know pretty much all
of them. And can you guess which store Joanna top

(04:49):
the list with the biggest discounts for twenty twenty five.

Speaker 4 (04:53):
I'm going to go with Walmart.

Speaker 2 (04:55):
It is not Actually, they're not even close to the top.
The real answer this year is Jason Penny. Wow, and
should not be surprising because apparently they have landed in
the top spot for the seventh time now since they
started doing this analysis back in twenty fourteen. Their average
discount this year is seventy four percent at j C Penny.

Speaker 1 (05:14):
That's pretty good, Listen, I'm loving that j C Penny
is still going strong right now.

Speaker 3 (05:19):
I do enjoy me some Jason Petty.

Speaker 4 (05:21):
Be honest, I haven't been in a really long time,
but I used to love it back in the day.

Speaker 2 (05:24):
Yeah, I bought a suit for my brother's wedding in
jac Penny this year. Also on the list, huge drop
to the next retailer you're going to recognize here, Coles
in the number three spot here forty five percent average discounts.

Speaker 4 (05:37):
Love me some coals.

Speaker 2 (05:39):
Macy's after that at forty four percent. Yep, Home Depot
not quite as good. They're at thirty five percent average
discount which is still better than they were offering last year.

Speaker 3 (05:49):
All right. And then one of the ones you mentioned.

Speaker 2 (05:51):
Joanna, here, Target and Walmart at twenty nine percent average discounts. However,
they do recommend that Walmart is the place to go
for things like compute and phones, and Coles for clothing.

Speaker 1 (06:02):
Yeah, Coles cash, baby, that's where it's at. So I
do a lot of my shopping at.

Speaker 2 (06:07):
And speaking of shopping, Joanna, are you planning on buying
any figgy pudding this year.

Speaker 4 (06:10):
Wait, that's actually a real thing.

Speaker 3 (06:12):
Yeah it is.

Speaker 2 (06:13):
It's not just in song. No, it's a real thing.
We'll talk about what's in it and what it tastes like.
And one brand you definitely have heard of making their
own figgy pudding this year.

Speaker 3 (06:23):
We'll do that. Atter seven. This is Sunny Mornings with
Joanna and Sean on Sonny one oh six point five.

Speaker 1 (06:29):
The name may sound sweet and festive, but what exactly
is figgy pudding? Good morning, it's Joanna and Sean right
here on Sunny one oh six point five. And I
have never personally had figgy pudding. Them actually learning this morning.
This is a real thing.

Speaker 2 (06:46):
It really is, is not just in the in the
song where that guy demands some figgy pudding, bring it
to me.

Speaker 3 (06:51):
Right, So, figgy pudding.

Speaker 2 (06:53):
If you watched enough British bake show like my wife
and I do, putting, it's a British thing, right, So
it's actually has nothing to do with the pudding you
would expect in the United States. Okay, it is a
British steamed dessert with a dense, moist cake like texture.
Have I gotten your attention yet? Does it sound good
on the.

Speaker 4 (07:10):
Surface cake like texture has me hooked right.

Speaker 2 (07:14):
So it's usually not even made with figs. It's usually
plums or dried raisins. But it's got flavors of like
nutmeg and ginger and cinnamon and fig and orange and
things like that.

Speaker 4 (07:25):
Sounds like a delicious spicy cake.

Speaker 2 (07:27):
I kind of want one with like a big scoop
of ice cream warmed up. Yeah, so I'm actually kind
of fascinated by this. If you've never had it or
don't want to attempt making it, Spam is making their
very own limited edition spam figgy pudding. It's got all
the flavors I just mentioned. They're suggesting that you slice
it and put it on a sharkouterie board.

Speaker 3 (07:47):
How do you feel about that?

Speaker 1 (07:48):
I feel okay about that, But I actually I was
saying I don't know what figgy pudding pudding is.

Speaker 4 (07:53):
I still don't really know what spam is either.

Speaker 2 (07:55):
That's fair. We eat a lot of spam in my house.
The thing is we fry it first and eat it
with like rice and eggs and things like that.

Speaker 3 (08:03):
I don't know.

Speaker 2 (08:04):
They haven't said anything here about whether you're supposed to
just eat it right out of the can.

Speaker 3 (08:07):
Which does not sound appealing to me now, or fry
it first.

Speaker 2 (08:11):
But I'll tell you this, it's not going to have
the same texture as like a steamed cake dessert.

Speaker 1 (08:15):
Right all I have to say, if you're dealing with
the mystery meat, throw it on a stracouterie board and
that's the way to hide it right there.

Speaker 2 (08:22):
I don't know, I'm intrigued. It sounds like you're gonna
pass yep. Coming up seven forty. We're gonna drop another
name here to get you a four pack of SeaWorld
San Diego tickets.

Speaker 3 (08:33):
Get your name in right now.

Speaker 2 (08:34):
It's Sunny one of sixty five dot com Sonny one six.

Speaker 5 (08:41):
What's new?

Speaker 3 (08:42):
Other big screen? What's screaming? And what's happening around Vegas?
She's got a cover. This is Joe in the no loving.

Speaker 2 (08:48):
All these fancy new sound effects. We got Joanna, what's happening?

Speaker 3 (08:52):
Well?

Speaker 4 (08:52):
Did you know this?

Speaker 1 (08:53):
Toy Story five is coming out this summer and they
have officially wrapped production now.

Speaker 4 (08:59):
The release of Toy Story five is going to be.

Speaker 1 (09:01):
On June and nineteenth. Woody Buzz and Jesse. They're going
to be facing a very modern dilemma. Kids aren't playing
with toys anymore.

Speaker 2 (09:10):
I get they're probably playing with iPads, and this is
a great way I think this movie franchise to get
him out of that.

Speaker 1 (09:15):
Yeah, now the Gang is actually gonna square off with
exactly what you said, a smart tablet name lily Pad.
So it's going to be an adventure for sure. But
it looks like Codin O'Brien is actually joining the cast,
this time as a character named Smarty Pans.

Speaker 3 (09:29):
So good, great casting choice.

Speaker 1 (09:32):
Stranger Things fans, the way is over. The fifth and
final season kicks off tomorrow on Netflix with Volume one,
which means that four episodes will be dropping as part
of Volume one.

Speaker 2 (09:44):
I've been waiting for literally, like you said, for years
for this flew my mind, and they're.

Speaker 4 (09:49):
Going to have more rolling out.

Speaker 1 (09:51):
They have got volume two on Christmas Day, and then
the epic finale will come out on New Year's Eve.

Speaker 2 (09:57):
It's crazy watching those kids grow up in front of
your eyes on that show.

Speaker 1 (09:59):
It's really, really, really wild. Now, in shocking celebrity news,
have you heard about this, Kevin Spacey admit that he
is broke, living out of hotels, Bnb's and sometimes even
a car.

Speaker 4 (10:12):
Yes, what the two.

Speaker 1 (10:13):
Time oscar winner lost you know, all credibility when he had,
you know, some accusations made against him a few years back,
and it looks like now what he is doing is
he's actually singing in a cypress in a nightclub to audiences.

Speaker 4 (10:30):
Like he's crooning Sinatra and jazz songs.

Speaker 2 (10:32):
That is the most unexpected twist I ever thought possible.

Speaker 4 (10:37):
Very bizarre. But if you were wondering where.

Speaker 1 (10:39):
Kevin Spacey ended up, that's what he's doing right now,
singing Sinatra and jazz numbers.

Speaker 4 (10:43):
Yeah, just shocked me when I found that out. But
that's how.

Speaker 1 (10:45):
He's trying to make money these days on real Yikes,
but that's all things sound screens and stars.

Speaker 3 (10:51):
This Morning with Your Joe and the No Report, Wake
Up with Sunny Mornings with Joanna and Sean on Sunny One,
it was six point five.

Speaker 1 (11:00):
The past few Thanksgivings, my girlfriend has had the ultimate
excuse to get out of the annual Turkey trot five K.
But this year her excuse is no longer valid. Good morning,
It's Joanna and Sean right here on Sunny When I
was six point five and the past few years, my
girlfriend has been pregnant back to back pregnancynes creating her
dream family. But she was confiding in me yesterday and

(11:24):
telling me that her family, which by the way, is
her husband's side of the family, expects her to run
the Turkey Trot five k out in Boulder City and
this is like the last thing she wants to do
on Thanksgiving.

Speaker 3 (11:39):
Right, and see, such a great excuse.

Speaker 2 (11:40):
I'm normally really good with excuses too, but outside of
faking an illness, I don't know what to do at
this point on short notice for Thanksgiving five.

Speaker 1 (11:48):
K, Right, she can't really wiggle or waddle her way
out of this one this year, so we need some
help coming up with valid.

Speaker 4 (11:55):
Excuses that she can use.

Speaker 2 (11:56):
Well, Lucy's been quick to hit the dial button over here.
Good morning.

Speaker 3 (12:00):
Do you have a good excuse to get out of
a five k this year?

Speaker 5 (12:04):
You know what? An a spandage can go very far.

Speaker 4 (12:07):
And that's what I was calling to say.

Speaker 5 (12:10):
You show up in an ah spandage, or you show
up with one little crutch and you say, oh, crazy
thing happened. Make up a story, fell down the stairs,
you know, tripped over the baby sets on a hot
wheeled car and took a ride across the room. Just
get that a spandage and I'm so sorry. I'm gonna
have to cheer you on on the sidelines. And that's

(12:31):
what you're done, and you're free.

Speaker 2 (12:33):
I sustained an unexpected lego injury. That's unbelievable, right eight bandage.
That's a genius move right there. That's under almost underhanded,
but I like it in a way.

Speaker 5 (12:44):
You got to always have an a spandage on hand
in case of an emergency situation.

Speaker 3 (12:48):
Such as this.

Speaker 1 (12:50):
Such yes, this is considered an emergency situation.

Speaker 4 (12:52):
I love that, Lucy.

Speaker 5 (12:54):
Yes, you gotta get out of it. Oh I hate running,
so yeah, I have now.

Speaker 3 (12:58):
Oh a good one, thanks, Lucy.

Speaker 5 (13:00):
Bye.

Speaker 2 (13:01):
All right, we'll get some more excuses on the line
here next, But first the sunny story of the day.

Speaker 3 (13:05):
Next, what you got, Joanna, Well, there's.

Speaker 1 (13:07):
A way to make your donation this holiday season due.

Speaker 4 (13:10):
Double duty for pets in need. We'll tell you how
coming up next.

Speaker 3 (13:15):
Sunny ONEO six five.

Speaker 4 (13:19):
Sunny one is six point five.

Speaker 3 (13:21):
Good morning.

Speaker 1 (13:21):
It's Joanna and Sean And for a girlfriend of mine,
pregnancy has been the golden ticket to get out of
the annual Thanksgiving turkey trot.

Speaker 4 (13:29):
Five k in Boulder City. But this is the first
year she is.

Speaker 1 (13:33):
Not pregnant or just had a baby, so now her
family wants her to participate, and she wants to get.

Speaker 3 (13:38):
Out of it.

Speaker 2 (13:39):
There are few things I empathize here because are there
are few things in life I hate more than having
to run anywhere. So I am on board with helping
her find an excuse. Now, Lucy, our first callers suggested
an ACE bandage, which is brilliant, just showing up looking
like you've injured yourself. But we definitely need to get
some more people on the line here, Yes we do.

Speaker 4 (13:59):
I don't care he's been on hole. Good morning, Candy.

Speaker 1 (14:01):
What's a good excuse to get out of the annual
turkey trot?

Speaker 4 (14:04):
Five K?

Speaker 5 (14:06):
Three words? Post partum depression?

Speaker 3 (14:10):
Oh wow?

Speaker 1 (14:13):
Because yeah, because her her uh son is not yet one,
she's still kind of in that year after phase.

Speaker 4 (14:20):
And yes, that that can definitely linger.

Speaker 5 (14:22):
No, but listen, it's called post pardon for a reason.

Speaker 3 (14:26):
It is. There's no time limits. It could be years.

Speaker 1 (14:30):
Yeah, you're right, she can milk milk this so he ate.

Speaker 4 (14:37):
Well, you know, Candy, that could be an option.

Speaker 1 (14:38):
I don't know she'll go for that one she's she's
a pretty positive girl, but she's just feeling pressure because
it's like everybody's going to be doing it, and she's
just she like she married into this, right, so like she.

Speaker 3 (14:49):
This is not her thing.

Speaker 5 (14:51):
Okay, she should say that this is not my thing?

Speaker 4 (14:54):
All right, Candy, I like your confidence this morning.

Speaker 3 (14:57):
We'll make sure to tell her thank you, thank you,
all right.

Speaker 2 (15:01):
Coming up next, we got an hour of commercial free
Christmas music and some more SeaWorld tickets at eight point
forty with the name drop that's right.

Speaker 1 (15:08):
Make sure we have your name right now at Sunny

Speaker 4 (15:11):
