Speaker 1 (00:00):
Tell you what, I'm six point five happy Halloween. Now,
Halloween is here, and usually it's known to be a
night of mischief, but we are encouraging mischief in your
own backyard with your pumpkins, because it may.

Speaker 2 (00:12):
Help save the planet. You know, those pumpkins they can
start looking, you know, pretty gross after a few weeks
in the Vegas sun. Right, But don't just toss them.
You can actually put them to really good use. I
don't know if you're aware of this, but there's billions
of pounds of discarded pumpkins that sit in landfills, as
you can imagine, every single year, right, and they release

(00:32):
all this dangerous methane gas. Now, Joanna, I don't know
if you ever lived near a landfill as I have.
They smell god awful. I have not. It's pretty bad.
But you can actually cut down on some of that
methane and put those pumpkins to good use by smashing them.
How about that?

Speaker 1 (00:46):
I know, smash them, don't trash them, as the new
saying I think and listen, it can be a blast
for kids, right, I mean, you're gonna be the cool
parents for sure when you tell your kids after Halloween.

Speaker 3 (00:56):
Hey, we're going in the backyard.

Speaker 1 (00:57):
We're gonna smash these pumpkins, throw them out the window.
It's gonna help save the environment.

Speaker 2 (01:01):
Potentially fun to toss them off a roof too, just
from you know, personal experience here. But pumpkins look, obviously
you make jack lanterns out of them. They're great for
a snack. I see here that you can turn those
disgusting guts if you pure them into like the ins
for like muffins and stuff, if you feel like dealing
with that kind of a thing.

Speaker 1 (01:20):
Anyway, I was gonna say, you know, you are always
inspiring to do more DIY stuff. Maybe bring that into
the kitchen with leftover pumpkin.

Speaker 2 (01:26):
Yeah, or my wife can bake up those delicious pumpkin kernels,
because I have no idea what I'm doing in there.
But there is a place locally you can drop off
your pumpkins if you want to put them to good use,
at the Rebel Recycling Center of course, and association with UNLV,
and they can get them to pigs who might need
something to eat as well if you don't feel like

(01:46):
eating them yourself.

Speaker 1 (01:48):
Love that and hey, there's also a website Pumpkins for pigs. Yes,
that's going to help direct you to area locations as
well to help out the piggies.

Speaker 4 (01:56):
Suning one O six pod.

Speaker 1 (02:02):
Love this time of the year, the chill is outside
when you wake up in the morning. But over at
People Magazine.

Speaker 3 (02:08):
Their offices, I'm sure the glass is fogging up.

Speaker 1 (02:11):
And heating up because Sexiest Man Alive twenty twenty five
is going to be announced on Monday, and everybody has
an opinion.

Speaker 2 (02:19):
And of course here on Sundy one of six point
five with Sunny Mornings with Joanna and Sean, we have
to get in on the action over here right now.
I'm not necessarily a betting man, but I think the
Vegas odds are super fun to follow on this to
give you an idea of like who the favorites are.
Do you agree with this? Joanna Pedro Pascal as the
overall favorite here with a thirty eight percent chance of

(02:39):
winning Sexiest Man of the Year. I like it.

Speaker 1 (02:43):
I'm fond of him myself. I think he's pretty sexy.
I think his personality makes them sexy, so I can
see why he would be.

Speaker 2 (02:49):
A front runner for sure. Okay, Number two on this
list Jeremy Allen White with a fifteen percent chance of winning,
kind of a long shot. He's from The Bear and
just played what Bruce Springs and that delivered me from
nowhere movie?

Speaker 1 (03:02):
Right hard No for me there, I don't know. He
just comes across like a jerk to me, like there's
nothing hot about that guy. No hard pass.

Speaker 3 (03:10):
It could because of his character.

Speaker 4 (03:11):
On The Bear.

Speaker 2 (03:12):
Honestly, I think it's a confidence as someone who, like
Jeremy Ellen White, is not sexy. I think it's confidence.
I think women is like the confidence right yeah.

Speaker 1 (03:21):
And again I think sometimes when men play characters it
makes them less sexy in real life because you think
of them as their character. But for me, if I
can just throw my vote in the mix right now,
I'm going with Charlie Hunham. You know who that is?

Speaker 2 (03:35):
Yes, from Sons of Animals.

Speaker 1 (03:37):
That's of anarchy. But he's having a really big year
playing ed Gieen and Monster on Netflix, which, by the way,
he plays obviously a serial killer, which.

Speaker 4 (03:46):
Is not sexy.

Speaker 1 (03:47):
But for whatever reason, that's not stopping me from thinking
that man is sexy.

Speaker 2 (03:51):
Major red flag for you, Joss. Someone throwing a red
flag on the play there. Speaking of flags here, what's
interesting about the end of this list is Jason Kelsey,
almost dead last, has a three percent chance here, but
better than his brother Travis, who's having the biggest year
of his life and is even on the list.

Speaker 1 (04:09):
Yeah, Travis's not sexy anymore. Sorry, Taylor's got up.

Speaker 3 (04:13):
He's off off limits now, not sexy.

Speaker 1 (04:16):
You're listening to Sunny Mornings with Joanna and Sean.

Speaker 4 (04:20):
I'm Sunny one six point five.

Speaker 1 (04:22):
If you need a little boost to get you through
your Friday, don't you worry. We've got you covered with
feel good Friday right here on Sunny when I was
six point.

Speaker 2 (04:29):
Five, Joanna and Sean. Who are you talking to right now?

Speaker 4 (04:32):
Hey, Bis, it's Alexandra.

Speaker 2 (04:34):
Well, hey, they're Alexandra. What's your good news today?

Speaker 4 (04:38):
My good news is I just flam how to swim?

Speaker 2 (04:41):
What? All right? Right on?

Speaker 3 (04:42):
Alexandra?

Speaker 4 (04:43):
That's awesome. Yes, they have a really good program at
the YMCA, and I.

Speaker 2 (04:49):
Really good about it. You must be the one adult
I saw it there with my daughter at the YMC
learning how No, that's awesome though, because you're your proof
that it is simply never too late to learn how
to swim, because eventually you're gonna need to know how to.

Speaker 4 (05:02):
Swim right, never too wait, come work anything. Seriously, it's
a great skill to have and I'm excited for next
summer at the pool on the beach.

Speaker 2 (05:13):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (05:13):
And by the way, hey, it's great exercise right and
here in Vegas when you need.

Speaker 1 (05:17):
To just cool off, you'll be able to jump in
the pool safely and know.

Speaker 2 (05:20):
What to do for sure. Well, congratulations, love that Alexandra.
You got anything making you feel good today?

Speaker 1 (05:27):
Johanna, Oh, I mean it's Halloween, right, Like I just
the Halloween vibes.

Speaker 3 (05:33):
The good weather this weekend.

Speaker 1 (05:34):
I'm just really excited to, you know, bring my son
Brock out trick or treating. He has not gone door
to door yet, but he has been exposed to trunk
or treat, so I think he understands the concept now.
So we're actually gonna go door to door and actually
trick or treat for the first time. So, I mean, right,
that's got me feeling just good.

Speaker 2 (05:52):
And your family costume you've been planning for god knows
how long, has finally come together. Right.

Speaker 1 (05:58):
My dream came of us being Forrest Gump, me being Jenny,
my husband Andrew being Forest, and then our little peas
and carrots from the famous line that Forrest says, we
go together like peas and carrots, And that's been my
dream family costume coming to life tonight.

Speaker 2 (06:15):
It's perfect. It's perfect. We'll do this again right after
eight o'clock.

Speaker 1 (06:18):
Say, Today's sunny story of the day is all about
hope and the people helping others find it again. Every day,
hundreds of men, women and children in our community seek
refuge at the Las Vegas Rescue Mission, a place where
second chances begin.

Speaker 4 (06:38):
Now.

Speaker 1 (06:38):
Before entering, guests go through a quick check in process
to make sure everyone is safe and healthy, and then
from there they're welcomed with open arms, a warm meal,
and a plan for a fresh start.

Speaker 2 (06:49):
Now.

Speaker 1 (06:49):
No one has ever turned away at Las Vegas Rescue Mission,
especially families with children. Staff will literally roll out extra
mattresses to make sure no child sleeps on the show.
Streets and stories are so inspiring you can find them
every day there, like Courtney Morgan's who reminds all of
us why Las Vegas Rescue Mission matters. He's determined to

(07:10):
rebuild fine work and move into recovery. There's always hope,
he says, Always someone who has a story similar to
yours if not worse, but hope can always be found
at Las Vegas Rescue Mission.

Speaker 2 (07:24):
Now.

Speaker 1 (07:24):
That's your Sunny story of the day. And you could
read more about Las Vegas Rescue Mission now at Sunny
Window six five dot com. Just click on Sunny Mornings
and let's also sprinkle in some positive news from somebody's life,
big or small. We love to hear it all here
on Sunny With say, being Halloween, sometimes just fitting into
your costume can be a big deal.

Speaker 4 (07:46):
Halloween is a really big important holiday for me, and
I agonize over my Halloween costume because it has to
be perfect. And I finally figured out what I'm gonna
be for Halloween. I got the whole costume and I
try everything on and I'm so happy. But how it
looks and how it's sick?

Speaker 3 (08:05):
All right, that's awesome, such a great feeling. So Carly,
tell us what are you going to be for Halloween?

Speaker 4 (08:11):
Wonder woman?

Speaker 1 (08:12):
Obviously, yes, we love that. Have fun where in your
costume and be safe out there Tonight Wake up with
Sunny Mornings with Johanna and John on Sonny one oh
six point five.

Speaker 2 (08:24):
Dictionary dot com is not scoring a whole lot of
points with parents right now. They've just announced their word
of the year, and your kids may actually love this.

Speaker 1 (08:34):
Yeah, I don't know if parents are going to be happy.
But where should we do a drum roll? Is there
a drum roll you want to?

Speaker 2 (08:38):
I don't have I don't have a sound effeg ready
for it.

Speaker 1 (08:40):
But the word of the year, according to dictionary dot
com is six seven or the way your kids might
say at six seven or I don't know how they
say it? Does your daughter say it?

Speaker 2 (08:51):
Yes she does, she's six almost seven.

Speaker 1 (08:54):
Oh my gosh, I'm sure you are what over it too?

Speaker 2 (08:58):
Oh so much like most parents over it?

Speaker 3 (09:00):
Yes, I think Victory dot com really thought that six'
seven was going to go away and die, down but
for whatever, reason it just kept growing and growing, larger
really kind of snowballing into a cultural phenomenon right.

Speaker 2 (09:14):
Now and if you if you feel like you're missing
out because you don't understand, it it doesn't mean anything
like trust, me you're not. Alone nobody knows what this.
Means there were like the little the twenty five cent
history on this is that was like lyric and a
rap song that made its way into AN nba post
game conference that got turned into a meme and it
just went from. There so, no you're not missing. Anything

(09:35):
it means. Nothing it's.

Speaker 1 (09:36):
Meaningless the only WAY i describe it to people AS i,
say it's kind of like a like a hype word,
term because that's the only WAY i ever really hear,
it like kids shouting six to. SEVEN i feel like
it's like to hype people. Up so that's What i'm going.

Speaker 2 (09:48):
WITH i think we've seen that parents are dressing themselves
as the numbers six and seven For. Halloween and you,
know the minute that parents embraced something like, this it
becomes less, cool.

Speaker 3 (09:59):
Right, yeah so fingers, crossed it goes.

Speaker 2 (10:01):
AWAY i don't think it.

Ruthie's Table 4

Ruthie's Table 4

For more than 30 years The River Cafe in London, has been the home-from-home of artists, architects, designers, actors, collectors, writers, activists, and politicians. Michael Caine, Glenn Close, JJ Abrams, Steve McQueen, Victoria and David Beckham, and Lily Allen, are just some of the people who love to call The River Cafe home. On River Cafe Table 4, Rogers sits down with her customers—who have become friends—to talk about food memories. Table 4 explores how food impacts every aspect of our lives. “Foods is politics, food is cultural, food is how you express love, food is about your heritage, it defines who you and who you want to be,” says Rogers. Each week, Rogers invites her guest to reminisce about family suppers and first dates, what they cook, how they eat when performing, the restaurants they choose, and what food they seek when they need comfort. And to punctuate each episode of Table 4, guests such as Ralph Fiennes, Emily Blunt, and Alfonso Cuarón, read their favourite recipe from one of the best-selling River Cafe cookbooks. Table 4 itself, is situated near The River Cafe’s open kitchen, close to the bright pink wood-fired oven and next to the glossy yellow pass, where Ruthie oversees the restaurant. You are invited to take a seat at this intimate table and join the conversation.
