Speaker 1 (00:00):
Choosing a hospital that meets you and your baby's needs
is a very important decision as a new parent, and
is especially important for parents who are dealing with their
child having a critical illness or who was born prematurely. Now,
many factors may lead to a newborn being admitted to
the nick You, including things like low birth weight or

(00:21):
complications during delivery, and so much more so, you want
to be at a hospital that you can trust. So
joining us today is Poloma Aguilar, who is a nick
You mama who had an incredible experience at mountain View Hospital. So, Poloma,
thank you so much for being here. I know your
family has a deep connection to the Sunrise Health System

(00:44):
and particularly with a mountain View Hospital, So can you
please share your story with our listeners. I think it's
going to be pretty incredible.

Speaker 2 (00:52):
Baby Eli was born at twenty two weeks at mountain
View Hospital. He weighed one pound three ounces, was eleven
and three fourths inches long. To put that into perspective
for you, his feet were the size of nickels. His
legs were the size of my pinky. He spent a
total of four months on the ventil later, but when

(01:15):
he finally got to come home. He was a healthy
little boy.

Speaker 1 (01:18):
Now, your son was born in just twenty two weeks
at Mountain View Hospital. Tell us about the level of
care that you received there.

Speaker 2 (01:26):
Eli had a level four brain blade, received numerous blood transfusions,
He had fractured ribs at one point due to an infection.
He was in isolation, he had a PDA. But every
morning the doctors and the nurses would come together and
make a plan, and they always made sure that we

(01:47):
were involved and understood what was the plan for that day,
what was the best planned forward. And I'm just so
thankful because we've never felt excluded. It was as if
we were all working together for the best outcome.

Speaker 1 (02:02):
Now, Paloma, what do you believe sets mountain View Hospital part?
When it comes to the care there.

Speaker 2 (02:06):
Not only just the level of care that they provide.
The nurses and the doctors, they go out of their
way to make sure that they are comfortable, to make
sure that you understand exactly what it is that's being
done that day. If there was something that I didn't understand,
the nurse would take her time to come back and
walk me through in a way that I would understand.

(02:27):
They were always all so caring so professional. From the
day that I gave birth to Eli to the day
that I left, a lot of them they just became
like family. It was a second home for us.

Speaker 1 (02:39):
And how old is Eli now?

Speaker 2 (02:42):
Eli's three? He's striving. He likes to jump and play
and do all the things that one day we thought
he wouldn't be able to do.

Speaker 1 (02:51):
Now, Paloma, I know this question is probably going to
be very special for you. What would you like to
say to the doctors and nurses who cared for your
son Eli?

Speaker 2 (03:01):
I would like to say thank you. There's a level
of gratitude that I would never be able to express
to them. He's our biggest blessing and it's just a
miracle for us every day to have him home.

Speaker 1 (03:13):
And I think this question is important for anybody listening
right now. What would you want to say to everybody
who is listening who is deciding where to have their baby.
Maybe you want to, you know, plug Mountain View Hospital
a little bit right now.

Speaker 2 (03:26):
I would say that Mountain View is absolutely the best hospital.
They have the best doctors, the best nurses who are
genuinely going to not just care about the baby, but
also the parents, and they will go above and beyond
no matter the situation, and I can't think of a

(03:47):
better place for Eli to have been born. I know
that that was the best decision.

Speaker 1 (03:52):
