(00:00):
Welcome and thanks for tuning in forTalk of the Rock public affairs, community
events, and public services for CentralArkansas from the iHeart Radio Studios in Little
Rock. Here's your host, DJTaylor. I'm DJ Taylor and I'm joined
by Caleb Headley and Aman a personthe co chairs with Ronald McDonald House Charities
and their fourth annual Blue Jeans andBubbles event. Ladies, gentlemen, welcome,

(00:24):
How are you good? Thank you, thank you for having me.
Fantastic, absolutely always glad to doanything I can for Ronald McDonald House Charities
because you do so much for familiesin what is a great time of crisis.
I mean, if you've got especiallybeing here in Little Rock, Arkansas,
Children's Writer you know down the street, or Saint Jude over in Memphis.

(00:46):
Y'all are constantly giving families what theyneed so that they can focus on
being a family while there's somebody illand in the hospital. It's an amazing,
amazing group of folks. So thankyou very much for what you do.
And I know the Ronald McDonald House, that is what it's all about.
For those that may not know ormay thankfully have never had to experience

(01:10):
something like that. How would youdescribe the experience with Ronald McDonald House if
you have to stay there, Iwould say misinviting from what Ronal McDonald truly
cares about the children that it takesin. And one of the things that
they do they remove the barriers andthey help the families. If you don't
know anything about Ronal McDonald House, they take in anybody who may be struggling

(01:30):
financially or taking anybody that's going tobe staying in a hospital. So they
provide you with stay, They provideyou with food, they provide you with
a hospitality, and they have slices, they have basketball courts to make you
feel like you are at home. And it makes your stay away from home
even more intentional, and it makesit even more better in my opinion,
because you have people that genuinely careabout you. Your family stays with you,

(01:53):
and yeah, they're amazing. Ican speak on it all day.
Yeah. The biggest is that itis a home away from home. When
families are in need, they needsomewhere where they can feel supported and invited,
and the Ronald McDonald House provides thatsanctuary so they can focus on their

(02:15):
children and healing. And I thinkit plays a vital role in recovery.
Absolutely it does. And the thingthat you got to think about. If
you've never been in that situation, that's that's great, that's wonderful. But
if you are in that situation, you've got to think about if you have
more than one child, well, somebody has to stay with them, So
that means somebody else may have tostay home. That means that you're separated,

(02:38):
or you're traveling hours on end toget to doctor visits, hospital visits
or hospital stays. And Ronald McDonaldHouse takes that complication out of the entire
equation. Everybody has a place tostay. You don't have to worry about
whether or not you can afford ahotel, or you don't have to worry
about whether or not you can affordfood while you're there, because I mean,

(03:00):
it gets expensive, it piles upvery quickly, and they want to
make sure that you are focused ontaking care of your family and being with
your family during such a difficult time. And that's why I love talking about
Ronald McDonald House and why I'm soexcited for Blue Jeans and Bubbles. This
is coming up on June seventh tohelp raise funds for Ronald McDonald House because

(03:21):
you guys don't charge anybody for thisservice. It's to help these families out.
And you actually have a goal thisyear. Let me make sure I'm
reading this right. It's not atypo. Five thousand nights for families to
stay at Ronald McDonald House. Fivethousand nights to serve families. That is
fantastic. So many people can behelped by this, and so many people

(03:42):
can have what I'm gonna call itis going to be a great date night
coming up on June seventh. Thisis a lot of fun. Y'all have
got a lot of stuff going on, and it's not just like finger food
and literally you know, like tinysandwiches and stuff like that. Y'all are
hauling out the big guns for thisevent with the food this year. Tell
me about that. Yes, wehave food sponsors, Black Mamba Barbecue.

(04:04):
We'll be providing the protein as wellas Smacki's catering. I don't know if
you've had a chance to look attheir page or user service, but they're
going to be providing the size. It's all delicious, it's all delectable,
and I'm excited about the food, the drinks from Delta Dirt everything, Yeah,

(04:24):
Wandery Ryan. We have a lotof good culinary experiences coming up.
Absolutely, and a big thanks toDelta Dirt Distillery and Wondery Wine for all
of the and the signature cocktails Iunderstand are gonna be a part of that.
Also, I understand there's gonna bethere's gonna be like some dessert going
on out there too, some reallynice dessert happening. Italian Ice is providing

(04:46):
the dessert, so it's gonna beamazing. I cannot wait. I'm smiling
now. I mean you need tosee the looks on all of our faces
right now, we're talking. OhItalian Nice. It's gonna be there.
And I'll tell you something else thatI'm really excited about with all of this
is the fact that, like Isaid, this could be a fantastic date
night. You get a couple oftickets and not only are you getting the

(05:06):
smoked pork and the chicken wings fromBlack Mambo, You're getting those great sides
from Smack He's catering. You're alsogonna be helping out the folks at Ronald
McDonald House and helping families all acrossthe state to get the care that they
need and to be together as afamily. I want to brag a second
for the live music too. RodneyBlock y'all got coming in for this and

(05:28):
that's gonna be a good show. And Jake Dell also gonna be performing.
Now, these are just gonna belive music events throughout the evening. Is
that right, that's correct? Okay, so a lot of that Donald Oh
yeah, definitely to close it outwith the DJ as well. Oh,
very nice. So a little bitof dancing on the dance floor out there.
And also I do want to takea minute. It says on your

(05:49):
website here there's gonna be a raffleCan you tell me anything about that now
or is that all kind of topsecret for the time being. Well,
we have a Memphis artist named JadeMiller. I'm going to be doing a
live painting on a denim jacket.Cool, so that's going to be able
to be raffled off. We havea gift card bundle, which is like

(06:10):
just different gift cards from all aroundfood businesses, self care businesses, there's
haircuts in there, so there'll beplenty of opportunities for us to raise some
money through our raffle. There areplenty of things that people want. Very
nice like the sound of that. And I do want to send a big
thank you to Blue Arkansas, BlueCross Blue Shield, the presenting sponsor on
this. They do a lot withus here at the studios and always trying

(06:34):
to help out in the community. So very worthwhile mentioned there for Ronald McDonald
House and Blue Cross Blue Shield. So the fourth annual Blue Jeans and Bubbles
is coming up June seventh. Now, this is at Rusty Tractor Vineyards.
If you've never been out there, how would you describe that to the folks
that have never been out to thevineyards. I always say the venue is
extremely versatile. It's indoor and outdoors, so we have a spots to accommodate

(06:58):
both type of people. If youwant to be outdoors, if you want
to play the games outside, orif you just want to be inside in
fellowship with the people indoors, wehave both of those opportunities for you.
Live music will be outside and it'sa vineyard, so there's gonna be plenty
of fun opportunities. It's just alot of greenery and such a great time.
That's one of the most instagrammable placesin ar Kansas. It really really

(07:23):
is, and of course a beautifulnight out there under the stars, live
music, great food, great drinks, all helping out Ronald McDonald house.
And I understand that there are twodifferent ticket levels available. You've got like
the general tickets and the VIP tickets. Tell me first about the general tickets.
What we got going on with that? Food and drink and entertainment is

(07:43):
included in that, So that's stillall access. You get the option of
to drink coupons or if you wantto opt out and use your coupons for
raffle tickets, you can do that. You can also purchase additional raffle tickets
there. There's also uh, likeI said, everything is included with that,

(08:05):
besides the VIP swag bag, whichis a really cool thing. Yes,
so we want to you want toname drop a little bit about that.
What's what all kinds of stuff canpeople expect in that swag bag?
Is it cool to bring that oneup? Yeah, yeah, it's super
cool. We have a lot ofI would like to say self care items,
but their cosmetic items, I guessfor men and women, and from

(08:26):
Loril they were a huge sponsor. We have little uh what is it called
a Koozi's pins, like all thesetypes of little things from local businesses who
wanted to make sure that they wereincluded in participating. We have a bunch
of surprises too, So I don'twant to give away too much, but
just know you're gonna you're you're gonnaleave with more than what you expected.

(08:50):
For sure. That is fantastic.Let's talk about tickets for just a minute
now. These are reserve seats inadvance. You can get your tickets.
Uh what I I would suggest youan easiest way, unless y'all know a
better one is just go on likeGoogle and do r H or our m
HC Blue Jeans and Bubbles and boom, it's the first thing that comes up.

(09:13):
It's right there on our MHC Arkansasdot org. It's on the front
page there as well, and therewill be a link to that in the
description of this podcast, so supereasy to find it. Get those tickets.
Will this be a sellout type event? Do you have a limited number
of tickets on this or we dohave a limited number of tickets, but

(09:35):
the venue is so large, Ifeel like we can accommodate a larger group
than we have in the past.I know, my first time being involved
with Blue Jeans and Bubbles, Ihave to just donate because it was completely
sold out. Wow. So that'salways an option too. If you can't
make it, you can always donatefor sure. Great idea that is our

(09:56):
mhc Arkansas dot org Jeans and Bubbles. It is coming up on June seventh.
Tickets are available. At the timeof this recording, there were still
some tickets available. So if you'relistening and you want to go to this
event, make sure you get to. Like I said, great date night
idea, get out and enjoy somegreat food and know that you're helping a
great cause with Ronald McDonald House Charitiesand just some fantastic folks, fantastic organization.

(10:22):
I'm going to ask this question becauseI am curious what led you both
to Ronald McDonald House Charities. Whatmade you decide this was the community organization
for you. Yeah, I'll justsay I'm very intentional about how I spend
my time and working with. Thisorganization has a multi generational reach. It
helps young children, it supports parents, it supports siblings. Like you mentioned

(10:46):
siblings, there's a whole room filledwith toys, so siblings that are there
and those emotional states can go somewhereand find comfort and they can keep them.
They're not just like so an organizationthat I feel has a reach to
empower the community and empowers individuals andempowered families. It's just a wonderful organization.

(11:09):
And I feel like my time isso much better spent with this particular
organization, with Ronald McDonald house. For me, through my entire life,
I've always served, and my momworked at a hospital, she worked at
children's right across from McDonald's house, and me being a teacher. One of
our pillars at the school that Iworked at at the time was serving underserved

(11:30):
children and knowing that Ronal McDonald hasthat same type of value just being able
to take on that financial responsibility forfamilies and allowing them to be able to
one not only be that piece forthem and also be that stability that a
lot of families need. They alsogo above and beyond by providing meals,
by also just being that extra helpthat a lot of people need and people

(11:52):
not knowing that they need that help. So when I realized that that was
their mission, It's a no brainerfor me to come in and just utilize
my gifts and be able to helpthem in any way, in any capacity
that I can. And if youwant to be a part of that,
it is super easy to do.Like I said, you hit the Ronald
McDonald House Charities website and join usfor Blue Jeans and Bubbles. It's coming

(12:13):
up June seventh, six to tenpm, Rusty Tractor Vineyards, Caleb,
Amanda, thank you all so muchfor coming in. I appreciate it talking
with us about this today and lookingforward to a very successful event coming up.
