(00:00):
The home grown Afternoon team is talkingyour teams, Adam Clinton and Adam Wexler.
Are the A team? Are youthe main It's demmoment? How do
K help there? How stop?Help? Hey? Dot A? That

(00:24):
all she stopped? Okay, good, let's stick up for you? You
know, help me now? Ido it? So? Is that what

(00:44):
it's gonna take? X? Yes? All right, Well, now that
we've cleared that out, we canget the show started. It is the
A team here on Sports Talks sevenninety and yeah, I think the Astros
will try anything at this point justto get a win. You said it
on the way out of the studioyesterday, your way out of the studio.
You set it on my way outof the studio yesterday. Either the

(01:08):
Astros will, you know, tryto attempt to go for a series win
tonight, or they'll be salvaging things. Well, they'll be trying to salvage
things. The good news is theyare facing a right hander, I guess,
since apparently they can't hit left handedpitching at minute made with the batter's
eye, I don't. This isthe of all the dumb things we've talked

(01:30):
about pertaining to the Astros during thisrun, you know, Martin Maldonado versus
Jain or Diez and everything else.I think the batter's eye chatter batters I
sports talk is maybe the worst topicor surrounding a contending team that I think
I've ever heard in any sport.I just because here's the deal. Okay,

(01:53):
there's a solution. It's been theresince they started winning. I know,
but like everybody's everybody is talking aboutit because the play are talking about
it, and if the players hadn'tsaid anything, then it wouldn't be talked
about. Well, they've made changesto it because it truly was a thing,
but now is it still a thing? I do think it could be
better. I do think I havebeen watching this team win World Series with

(02:14):
a batter's eye comparable to this.But yeah, I think there's some issues
with it. I think it's prettysimple, and you know, I still
think at some point they're gonna they'regonna do that. But no, I
mean, gosh, grasp, itstraws a little harder. The astros are
just kind of too tight in whateverway you want to say it. The
caliber of the pitchers they've been facing, you really wouldn't think you'd see nine

(02:35):
hitters on consecutive days come up withnothing, and it really didn't matter what
side of the plate the ball wascoming towards. They haven't hit any of
the guys they've been facing. Tworuns over two days is something the Oakland
A's pitching staff had done zero timesthe rest of the season. No other
two game stretch had they held anopponent to two runs combined. And they
did it to the best offense ofthe American League. And unfortunately, that

(02:59):
means the Astra did not take advantageof this portion of the schedule yet of
who they're playing versus who the otherteams that they're playing four these three playoff
spots, because again there's four teamsplaying for three spots, it's very easy
to lay it out and to getan understanding of it. They all almost
have identical records. There's a gameand a half separating all three of them
between Toronto, the team from theEast, and the three teams here in

(03:21):
the American League West. The teamthat's at the bottom of those four misses
the playoffs. It's that simple. There's not much more else need to figure
out. There are some tiebreakers thatobviously could come into play. There could
be multiple tiebreakers coming into play,so I could be a little bit scary
to leave yourselves and as a teamin that position, knowing that coming down
the stretch you were the one beingchased. You had put yourselves in that

(03:42):
position with teams that really have nobearing on the race except they're playing in
a game against a team that's inthe race. And unfortunately I haven't been
able to take out the A's andeither of these two nights. They've eaten
the A's almost every game all seasonbefore the last two days. Now,
heading into the finale of the seasonseries, they're trying to avoid matching what
the Rangers did against the A's thisyear. They went nine and four against

(04:03):
them, and an Astro's lost tonightswould leave them in the very same place,
so you would not have had theopportunity to push past them in games
where you just should have taken careof business. Offense is obviously the culprit.
The pitching last night wasn't very goodeither, but I'm not expecting the
Astros to throw shutouts, and inorder to go to extra innings on Monday,

(04:24):
they would have needed to shut outand in order to be in the
game for a little bit longer lastnight by scoring only two runs themselves,
they would have needed Justin Verlander tobe a little bit better. That was
pretty disappointing. On top of that, it's three nothing games, sixteen pitches
in, you haven't even come upto bat yet, and the same feeling
that they've had for the other thirtysix losses before last night at home is

(04:46):
it's just not our night. Andfor it to be right out of the
gate with the player you know, you attack the trade deadline to bring in
to do things unlike what he didlast night. Pretty unfortunate, but luckily
enough for Justin ver Lander. Uh, it appears the team still likes him
enough to photoshop him into the teamphoto since he could not be bothered to

(05:06):
take it with them yesterday. Ithought it was game day for him.
I thought Chandler Rome was joking whenhe tweeted did you see it? No?
Not yet? Oh it's there. He is right next to Ryan Pressley
and Kyle Tucker top ro It's reallygood. I mean I might not have
noticed if I didn't already know.Forget all that. Are you serious,

(05:28):
Justin Verlander? It's your data pitch, so you can't be in a pick
in a picture. I mean, maybe it just coincided with some procedure he
goes through. Anyone Roger Clements mightdo it. Heck, he took four
days off except you know, everyday off except for the day he bitch
didn't travel. That's the narrative weall have to continue to put out there,
since we were actually covering the teamat the time, and that's not
really what was taking place. Whatwas really taking place, I mean,

(05:50):
skinny Well, people act like, yeah, he showed up on the day
he pitch, He talked to themedia, he put his gear on,
look at his locker to make surehe didn't need anything for the next five
or six days, and then he'droll out, and then he'd show back
up again on the day he pitched, which obviously did not happen. So
how many days was he there?I did not log it, Unlike Texans
practice, where I take attendance everyday I'm out there. I did not

(06:10):
log his attendance in the Astros clubhouse. You take attendance of the players that
are out on the field, ordo you take attendance of the media that's
there and who isn't that's just mentalI've got perfect attendance this season. I
take keeping track of who covers theteam through an attendance report is not on
my list of to do things.May you are in four thirty form already

(06:30):
man with their facility today. Gameweek kind of begins with the first day
of practice for the Colts, sothey were out on the field for that
couple of players returning to the field, which they probably will need for this
weekend. Their safety situation is asmuch of an unknown as it was last
week when Jimmy Ward missed the gameand then Jalen Petrie had to leave the
game with the lung injury. Hewas out on the field with the team

(06:55):
but did not practice. Did seehim in the locker room afterwards, and
as Demiko Ryans told us, itseemed to be accurate. He was in
good spirits and hopefully that points togood things in the future. But really
don't have much of an idea ofwhere things stand. They called him day
to day and we'll see how theyofficially list what's going on from a Wednesday
injury reports standpoint when that comes out. A few other details on that will

(07:16):
obviously share with you Wednesdays the dayCJ talks, so we will let you
hear a little bit about what hesaid. Much of the conversation with Stroud
was revolving around his good friend thathe his teammates at least will be on
the field with on Sunday because heplays quarterback for the Indianapolis Colts, who
have known each other since high school. We talked a lot about Bryce Young
and CJ. Stroud working with GerardJohnson many years ago as high schoolers in

(07:42):
the Elite eleven. He obviously noted, did CJ that he's worked with Anthony
in the Elite eleven? Has nothim since high school? I obviously followed
his career through Florida and now theylikely will face off against one another.
I would hope a minimum of tentimes if each of them can at least
manage their way to the field eachof the two meetings per season over the

(08:03):
length of each of their four plusone year contracts, one of them is
going to be presumably heading off thefield with their first win. I know
the Colts and Texans have done itbefore, but I feel confident they will
not do it again. One ofthese two teams will have their first win
for both their quarterback. Yes,and for their brand new head coach.

(08:26):
Yeah, well what I mean, how crazy is it going to be if
it does happen though? If theytie? Yeah, well, to me,
once it gets to that point, then you got to look at what
was the reason for it? Isit because the Texans scored a touchdown to
make it twenty to nineteen with fiveseconds on the clock and they kicked it,
or they've been down they were downtwenty to nothing, three touchdowns,

(08:48):
you got it all the way totwenty. I should have said twenty one
twenty against solid way, twenty onetwenty and then you don't go for two
or you know, you've lost abunch of guys whatever, like in the
NFL because of the known and thelack of control when you get to overtime,
even with the new rule change.I mean, who won the we've
had an overtime game this year?Who won the coin toss? The Bills

(09:09):
who took the ball first, theBills who lost the Bills? Uh,
it's just and not to Aaron Rodgers, do you want to go fifty?
Well, if you look on hisstatistics, he has a one win as
a starter four snaps. Another reasonwhy quarterback wins is dumb as a stapleutely
true. So yeah, hopefully peoplewill remember that during the twenty twenty three

(09:33):
season, his four snaps has elevatedhis all time win total as a quarterback.
But yeah, uh, like thisthis game this past weekend, you
have h at Rice between you ofh and Rice's twenty eight nothing at halftime,
that it's twenty eight twenty seven inthe final few seconds because you've just
scored the fourth touchdown of the gameto potentially tie it. Well, they're

(09:56):
overtime rules or even screwing here,So I mean, I think there's a
decision to be made. I thinkhe felt like momentum talking about Dana Holgerson,
momentum was on their side. Theyhad done everything they wanted to.
They had been so successful offensively thathe probably felt like, well, they
haven't scored in an hour. We'vescored it every time we've had the ball
for the last hour. Let's justdo it one more time and kick the

(10:18):
extra point. They went to overtimeand they couldn't stop Rice, and the
only stop that came was on thetwo point conversion in double overtime, and
that's why they head into Big twelveplay this weekend at home at TDECU with
a one in one record, andRice, of course that gets that victory
and reclaims the Buyou bucket. We'llget into some college football a little bit
later this week. Obviously, ourStone Cold Locks will come your way to

(10:41):
four or fifteen, as they alwaysdo on Friday on college football. Like
we've done all week. We've gottickets, a four pack of tickets to
join me at TDCU for the TCUHouston game right there in the bud Light
Cougar Den that will come your wayat four thirty. We will dip inside
what was really going on during andthen after the game for the Houston Astros

(11:05):
as they fell for the second straightnight with a woeful offensive showing against the
Oakland A's as we continue here ona Monday, Tuesday now Wednesday edition of
the eighteen. As absolutely brutal lastnight. But the exact opposite of brutal
is what you're gonna find when youdrive a short ways to Kinder Louisiana and

(11:26):
you roll up on the oasis inthe desert that is Kushata Casino Resort.
And I say that because I meanwhen you get there. Everything is there
that you need to have a blast. If you want lodging, they've got
it. If you want the largestgaming floor in the Lake Charles area,
it's there. The largest casino resortoverall in the entire state is right there.

(11:48):
Not to mention the food, andof course what are you there for.
You're there to have fun, butalso to win, and you can
place those wagers very conveniently in therest sports book inside. Yeah, right
there inside the gaming floor you willsee the res sports but great place to
lounge for the games themselves. Easyto make those wagers on the kiosk right
there on site. And obviously youget to enjoy all the cage in cuisine

(12:11):
from inside Coushata right there from thecomfort your very own seat. It's a
great place to enjoy the games. Also a great place to take a few
steps to your right or left andthere you are on the gaming floor,
the poker room, which continues tobe upgraded, and it's a great place
to enjoy yourself when you're at Kushata. If you're not in their resort style
pool, if you're not playing worldclass golf on the number one rated golf

(12:33):
course in the state, of Louisiana, lots of options. It's a resort,
after all. Coushata Casino Resort dotcom and plan your weekend getaway.
To be truly effective, a goodHouston sports talk show host must know and
love sports. In fact, agood Houston sports talk show host should have
Houston sports in his blood. Huhyeah, okay, yeah, yeah.

(12:56):
I didn't know you'd like to getwet though, but naked, Sharon I
pcp Hey mosh, huh, that'swhat you had. That's what you did
when you put that franchise and justsystem. You didn't taste it. Hey,
hey, sound what on this?Jay Farrell back to the eighteen eighteen

(13:18):
on Sports Talk seven ninth eighteen rollsalong here on Sports Talks seven nineties.
So I love when I forget toturn my microphone on and I just started

(13:43):
talking like anybody can hear me?Wax and ac with you here on a
Wednesday edition of the show. Doyou want to tackle the fact that the
Astros had their latest team meeting first, or the fact that Justin Verlander was
the one who apparently either called itor let it, or some semblance of
both, given his recent performances.Plural I wasn't there, so hard for

(14:07):
me to say exactly what it was, but it didn't seem like much of
a team meeting. I think JustinVerlander just told him to, you know,
pull their heads out, and Iwill too, including myself. Yes,
don't don't take it for granted.Don't let up just that kind of
thing. I mean. Chas McCormickspoke to the media afterwards and said,
yeah, JV said something to usafter the game about that. I don't
think it was much more than that. You know, he's in a very

(14:28):
interesting spot because I don't think andmaybe maybe he would have if this was
his first go around with the Astros, maybe that would have happened. He
got there and felt, you know, that he had that kind of leadership
role already. But you know, given how long he had been in that
clubhouse before leaving for that little cupof coffee with the Mets this year and
then coming back, everything about thefact that he would have said something,

(14:52):
whether big or small, however longhis statement was, is just it's just
unique given the circumstances. But Ilook, last night, I was disgusted.
It was like, I know,it's one game. I know it's
a major League Baseball seat. Butat this point, it's not you know,
these games are not just one gamethere. You're going down the stretch.

(15:13):
You're losing ground that you already hadsomehow built up for yourself after being
behind all season long. And it'sthe fact that you're doing it against the
A's and I don't I mean thebatter's eye and young players and not having
a scouting report and all the otherstuff. Nobody wants to hear that right
now. He says it. Hesays that the same every t all season.

(15:33):
Anybody though it's saying that, LikeI mean, again, I don't
really care what they say, becauseit doesn't make any difference what they say.
It doesn't matter what Justin Verlander saidto the team either. They did
not play very well. They're notmaking mistakes, they're not kicking the ball
around, they're not making egregious mistakes. You can run the bases a little
bit better, but that's also beena season long thing. And there,
you know, maybe a move couldbe made a little bit differently within the

(15:54):
game. Obviously you could send adifferent group of nine out there, but
you know, he has more thanenough fire are in the lineup. Piece
putting out there each of the lasttwo days, and they're just providing nothing.
And it's unfortunate that it's the timingof it. They're gonna I mean,
they just can't have it continue, and every day is a new opportunity
to make sure that it doesn't.The last two games just happened to mirror

(16:15):
each other so much. It's notlike they lost two games where one of
them was, oh my god, what no offense at all. They lost
two to nothing and they were neverin it. They never put a threat
out there. That's just terrible. And then the next day they lost eleven
to six or eleven to ten,or they had the lead and they gave
it away. These were very, very similar games. They're starting pitcher gave
him seven innings, not great seveninnings, but seven innings. Nonetheless,

(16:37):
you could qualify for a quality startwith what Framber gave you, but you
were also down by three runs whenhe left the game because the offense gave
you zero, and you cannot qualifyjustin Verlander for a quality starter was one
of its worst starts of the season. It was one of his worst starts
as an Astro's pitcher, and itwas his worst start period against the Oakland
A's in his career with the HoustonAstros. I mean, they had a

(17:00):
chance to win because their offense isawesome, but your starting pitcher gave up
five runs. We'll talk to youtomorrow. Yeah, And I just feel
like that for the second straight game, and I could play the they didn't
look like they cared. Car.I don't think they don't care. I'm
just telling you what it looked likethe last two nights. It looks like
a team that doesn't give a rats. You know what. That they're very

(17:22):
small lead going into this series inthe division is like it's teetering on disastrous
here. That's why baseball is sodifferent. You can't You can absolutely see
it in a football game and itwill show up on the scoreboard. You're
gonna lose forty to nothing to theCowboys. You can absolutely see it.
On the basketball court. You're gonnawin twenty plus barely games in three consecutive

(17:45):
seasons. We can see it.Or where the Rockets playing hard last year
or the year before or the yearbefore that. Now, I know they
were under talented, but don't lieto yourself and tell me, man,
they really brought it. It wasjust unfortunate they lost game, especially on
the defensive end. And again somenights were different than others. But my
point is Alex Bregman, Kyle Tucker, Gayner, Diaz on any given night,

(18:07):
Mauricio Dubon, Jeremy Paying you picka player, jose A Breu.
Everything that they gave three days agowhen they scored eleven runs was the same
thing they gave last night and thenight before. Just not gonna work out
in baseball some nights. It justthat's the nature of the game. Like
I always tell you, to thepoint that you probably don't want to hear
it anymore. If the season startsand you're awesome, You're the Astros,

(18:30):
You're the greatest thing ever the GoldenEra, and I can pencil you in
for fifty losses, guaranteed fifty wakeups where man, we just didn't have
it last night, or we gota gut punch, or we gave one
away. It's gonna happen fifty timesnow. Granted because the Rockets are awful
right now, it also happened tothem over the course of the season fifty
plus times. Hopefully it doesn't.It's a shorter season, it's not comparable.

(18:55):
I mean C J. Stroud couldplay for the worst era, even
worse than the three years that precededit, and it would still take him
minimum four years to have fifty wakeups after a loss. Now, unless
they go on seventeen three straight years, that is a very black and white
way of looking at things, forsure. But what if I were to

(19:17):
tell you that in those fifty losses, two of them are going to be
in the final handful of weeks orhandful of games of the season, when
which you're you know, two teamsare within an arm's length of you in
the division race, and you're dottingagainst one of the two worst teams in
baseball, and you're supposed to haveconfidence going into the next series against the
other bad team in the confidence becausethey're good. Yeah, well, then

(19:38):
start playing like it. Yeah whathappens? When? What are you going
to come back with when they finishout the season. The final twelve games
this season include Baltimore, Kansas City, Seattle, and Arizona. Three of
those four teams very well could bein the playoffs. With Houston. What
if they come out of that atnine and three, ten and two that

(20:00):
could happen is as what's happening rightnow, then I will say they were
playing up to their competition, justlike they're playing down to it the last
two nights. Yeah, if you'regoing to lose to a team that is
doing their darndest to not have atriple digit loss season, well they're clearly
way below you. They're way beloweverybody in baseball except for Kansas City.
It's a little bit different looking teamthan they were earlier this year, and
you know, players have a littlebit different vibe at this point in the

(20:21):
season when you're on a team likethe A's. But yeah, there's no
excuses and you know, the oldhat tip to them for the way they
pitched. Granted it did look good. I can see why some of these
at bats haven't been good for Houston, because I do think the pitching has
been good. It's just a shamethat these are guys that have seldom brought
it to the pitcher's mound all season. Their record has been earned. They're
one of the worst pitching teams inthe league. They're one of the worst

(20:44):
hitting teams in the league. Theydon't win very often, and unfortunately,
these two have just happened to comeat a time where you figured we made
it through this stretch. We're goinggreat. This is the best stretch of
baseball we've played. We've pulled intofirst place. Everybody's looking at the top
and that's where we sit. Andthen these laws tend to hit. The
meltdown on X is fun to watchfrom afar. I don't wish fans to

(21:08):
lose their minds, but they don'thave to, so that's on them.
The I don't want to be afan anymore stuff. The you know I
asked today, you know how hardyou do? You feel like you need
to push the panic button fans becausethe team certainly is it now. It
looks like they're playing like they're they'repanicked and they're wound way too tight.
But we've seen these guys too manytimes before. The only the only reason

(21:32):
you'd have any way to combat whatI'm saying about, Well, these guys
have done it so many times beforeour Heck, they flipped a switch after
going twenty nine and thirty one ina regular season during COVID, and they've
always managed to get it figured outat the right time. All of those
teams were good at minute May Park. A team that wins half of their
games and loses half of their gamesis not good at minute May Park.

(21:55):
That is unspinnable. They are nota good team when we play most to
our own team in this city. They're mediocre. They are average, and
that is what mediocre means. Yeah, and you know what, it's just
a good thing that Martin Maldonano gotas many at bats as possible over the
last two nights. Yeah, fortwo different reasons. A little bit of

(22:15):
a storyline, and it has verylittle to do with Martin. Some of
you people, some of you peopleout there, and you get your heads
checked. We will discuss when wecome back. Right now, though,
I want to discuss your bathroom.Yeah, I said it. Your bathroom
sucks because you haven't called two eightone nine six eight three thousand. That
is the direct line to e zbathdot com. And when you get ahold

(22:38):
of them at two eight one ninesix eight three thousand, well you can
start changing the dynamic of that bathroombecause they can remodel that bathtub, that
shower tub and shower conversion, maybethe whole thing. You don't like it,
change it, do it affordably aswell. Thousands of dollars less cost
than the competition, the so calledcompetition, and on top of that,

(23:00):
they're given you no interest financing forseventy two months. So that project you've
been putting off, you want toconvert that master bathroom to something that is
absolutely modern and just spectacular instead ofthe horrible made with your builder stock materials
from nineteen ninety five bathroom you've beendealing with. Now's the time to do
it. Two eight one nine sixeight three thousand two eight one nine six

(23:22):
eight three thousand, or online ateasybath dot com. Hey it Sparky from
the Astros broadcast team. Catch everyAstro's game of Sports Talk seven nine and
iHeart Radio app Home of your Astros. What ex. I'm not even gonna

(23:51):
refer to this as a PSA,but I just feel like, just when
I feel like I've seen everything insports, then something will happen and I'm
like, really like, we haveto talk about this because this fan did
this involving this player, and Icannot tell you, after especially after the

(24:12):
loss two in a row, asspectacularly bad as they were, how much
more disappointing it was to find outthat Martine Maldonado's family is having to deal
with unruly Astros fans and I'm beingvery polite when I say that, personally
attacking him on social media, Yeah, making you know, all sorts of

(24:33):
ridiculous comments and who knows what elsethat we don't even know about because he
didn't tell us or we didn't seeit, and normally we wouldn't sense it
likely was sent directly to them orhim, he and his wife, who
are both on social media. Thesolution doesn't get off social media, by
the way, as some would suggest. Yeah, no, her, Yeah,
it is. It is, Itshould be and could be utilized as

(24:57):
a way, and we talked aboutall the time. Way to get closer
to your fans, do the thingsthat why do we love sports? That's
that's that's honestly what it is therefor. It's a direct line to them.
It allows them to speak their mind, but unfortunately it also allows people
who can't control themselves to speak theirs. And so, yeah, fanatics,

(25:17):
that's why the word is what itis. It's a game. It does
provide you a lot of enjoyment.Twice in the last six years, it's
allowed you to not have to goto work one day or school because they've
held a parade. So it doesa lot for you. It's fun,
it's it's you know, every dayyou wake up for six seven months and
you think about what did I willwatch last night? What did I listen

(25:37):
to last night? I can't waitto talk to WEX and AC about this
this afternoon and then head on overto Minute Made Park and enjoy another one,
or however you consume your your baseballor other sports where the teams have
had this much success, which meansin another city. Uh, it's unbelievable
what it can do for you,So don't take it for granted, and
certainly don't go off the rails. And this man, it's absolutely totally utterly

(26:00):
ridiculous, unnecessary, unwanted, andyou would like to think that somehow it
could be policed a little bit better. Uh. Yeah, you can just
go ahead and get your account takenaway, and then you can just create
a new account do the very samething. Instead of having an EGG as
an avatar, now you just havean X as your avatar. When you
post rather than tweet, and yourepost rather than quote tweet, no one's

(26:22):
ever gonna call it X, youknow, right, Twitter, it will
at at best we're at formally knownat the social media places Twitter, like
people are writing writed in one theycould just save themselves all the finger hurts
and just put an X. Wellthat's the thing, Like, how long
until that's happening. We'll see,we'll find out. You remember when we
couldn't decide what to say when itcame to the year. Some people would

(26:47):
say, you know, twenty nineteen. Some people would say twenty nineteen.
Both are acceptable, Yeah, butlike, shouldn't we be uniform about some
of these things and some of thosethings? But not that so? But
I mean you literally change the nameof something that's been known as something else
for like ever. I mean, did you go back and forth with anybody
today on meta? I mean Facebook? Is that what it's really called?

(27:10):
Though, no, it was supposedto be See that's different, Well it
was supposed to be changed. Hereyou have an app that's just masquerading like
it's a new name and it's not. It's still Twitter. And again,
much like an NFL draft pick whois selected and very high and does not
necessarily have the career you'd expect outof a player that high, as long
as he hasn't made that happen likegotten in trouble with the law purposely,

(27:33):
not gotten in shape, torpedoed hisown career. He just doesn't work out
because he wasn't the player that thegeneral manager and the scouts thought he was.
Well, he usually catches the unnecessaryheat. Martin Maldonado is not a
very good hitter. He's one ofthe worst hitters in the Astros uniform every
single day. He's one of theworst hitters in the majors. He's probably

(27:55):
a better hitter than at least tenguys in uniform every day because their coach
is wearing a cost costume. Butit's not that's that's who he is.
Could he be working on it more, Could he spend less time game planning
with Justin and more time in thecage? I doubt it, because I
don't think anything's gonna change at agenot young anymore. So it is what
he is what he is. Sogetting on him for going up there and

(28:18):
hitting or taking a bat with himto home plate and then walking back to
the dugout, maybe taking a teammatewith him because he's hit into a double
play. I mean, that's reallyon whoever has him in the lineup.
You know, is there something you'regaining versus something you're giving. And that's
obviously why he's out there still aboutfifty percent of the time as a catcher,
because at forty percent of your fiveman rotation throws to him and thinks

(28:42):
there's value in that. And Ithink most of the players hitters too,
do believe in that, and soI don't think there's anything wrong with honestly,
for real, I don't think there'sanything wrong with the breakdown of their
playing time at catcher the last twoand a half three months. But the
usage of yan Ordaz continues to stillbe a little bit perplexing. And last

(29:03):
night was another example of it,unless you want to make a Michael Brantley
pinch hitting debate with me, whichis fine too, But in the game
itself, where the Astros players theiroffense, their hitters were failing one after
the other after the other, itwas all of their faults. Jordan Alvarez
is at bats last night, We'reembarrassing for him. A bunt single and

(29:23):
three strikeouts, the last of whichwas a six pitch. Watch all six
of them go by and go backto the bench. He was bad,
so was Alt two of it.You name them, they were bad,
paying you got a hit, Dubonhad a couple of hits. There was
really nothing else. So by nomeans, is this one decision going to
flip the scoreboard. It could giveyou an opportunity that you would want.

(29:44):
That's all a manager can do.The managers are supposed to make decisions that
well the a they make sense tohim, and that's where we're kind of
hit out a wall and be maybethey make sense to everybody else who has
numbers, whether or not they've beena manager, played baseball or whatever.
Those are also stupid arguments. That'swhy we have number That's why there are
trends. But I will acknowledge thereare guts. You have a gut,
you have eyes, you have feelings. Larry Derker famously kind of combatted the

(30:08):
numbers with that, and I'd likesometimes when managers do that, especially ones
who've been around the game forever. But I can't imagine what gut would tell
you with a runner on second, one out, a three run deficit,
and only a few outs left todeal with, none of which would involve
Justin Verlander anymore. He'd pitched hisseven innings, he was not going to

(30:30):
pitch anymore. So who's doing thereceiving for any particular pitcher? Well,
that should be thrown out the window, and I'm sure that it was.
I'm not guaranteeing Yinder gets a hit. I'm not guaranteeing Michael Brantley gets a
hit, or Greg Castner or whoeveryou might have said. You are guaranteeing
that Maldonado won't. Yeah, Ijust the rationale behind it. And he
was asked specifically about it. Hechose not to give rationale, but rather

(30:52):
to say what lots of coaches ormanagers say. You know, it's coach's
decision. This is what I wantedto do, which is also fine.
I just don't think there is anyrationale for it. You know, Yaner
Diaz goes up there and grounds out, and so whooped you do? We
don't gripe about Dusty. I meanthat's not really the point. The point
is I would think that in anysituation, you'd you'd want to do the
what makes the most sense, whatyou feel with all the information you have,

(31:17):
you know, can you can youlet ds catch the final six outs
and send him up there to pinchhit in that situation when he's probably the
best offensive catcher hitter in the AmericanLeague and is continuing that. He doesn't
really slow down, he's not ina rut, he doesn't need time off.
It's and he's not the greatest pinchhitter either, So it's it's not
an obvious you're going to it's gonnabe the right call, and it's gonna

(31:40):
work. But those are two separatethings. The right call is to pinch
hit, it's not a guarantee thatit works. Because the person that he
had that exchange with is a regularguest here on the show. We'll hear
from that exchange when we come back. Also, we're gonna hear from a
former Big twelve quarterback who decided hewas going to chirp about the Astros just

(32:00):
catching strays. Years later. Ithink it's hilarious. Oh, it's so
funny. He's always been a reallyfunny guy. I really really admire his
money. Yeah, he's great,he's awesome. Upset City. Yeah,
totally. He's he's something, andwe'll hear from him when we come back.
To wrap up the three. Oneof the best former number one are
all overall picks that plays quarterback inthe NFL. Right now, there's only

(32:22):
a couple of them. He's oneof them. And the list of those
quarterbacks will also be run down whenwe come back here on the A team.
But right now, here's a listof all the personal injury attorneys that
you should have on speed dial readyTrust Gus. That's the end of the
list. Eight six six Trust Gus. It's a telephone number, Trust Gus

(32:44):
dot com. And the reason WEXand I are saying that, and the
reason we'll be telling you about himin his firm for a long long time
is because of what he does helpingHoustonians for over twenty years, but mainly
a personal injury lawyer that is goingto do everything possible to hold the responsible
parties accountable for their actions and seekthat maximum recovery. Because if you have

(33:07):
been in a car accident, ifyou've been in sort of any sort of
motor vehicle accident and you're not withan attorney and a firm that's looking out
for your best interest, you're justnot doing it the right way. Fortunately,
we have the info for you.Yeah, car truck accidents, motorcycle

(33:52):
compensation you deserve. Trustgus dot comor eight six six trust Gus. Yeas,
listen, you know what, bro, I say a lot of stupid,
but listening to Adam Clinton gives memad anxiety. Bro, fam,
You'll never know a homie is gonnasay he's dannostic. Hey, hey,

(34:15):
saying what up? This is JayFarrell back to the eighteen eighteen on Sports
Talk seven nine. Yeah, yeah, I let him hit. I mean,
it's my decision. You know, you can knit pick all you want
to, you know which is yourwhich is how you do? But no,
no, you know that wasn't theball game. I won the ball

(34:37):
game at all, that's what youdo. That is incredible. Yeah,
I don't have any issue with thatpart. More to me is that was
the ball game. Well, nobody'ssuggesting that. Why are you taking that
way? If you must feel acertain way about it, I think it's
a reasonable assumption to make. WhenDusty had that response was a pretty simple
question. You know, you choseto hit for a Martin Maldonado with Dubon

(35:00):
after he doubled, and Dusty initiallyresponded with what was the score right there?
And the reporter Chandler said it wasfive two, and then he gave
that answer. I don't I don'tthink Chandler, like I tried to explain
last segment, the yiner Ds couldhave hit a six hundred and seventy five
foot home run and you'd still belosing. That's probably not the ball game

(35:21):
right there. I don't think peoplethink that it is you. You do
run out of opportunities as the inningsgo away. And I said this on
last night's Tenth Inning Show, andI try to say it as often as
possible. You know, you starta day's game with certain you know,
weapons on hold. You know todaythe weapons on hold are those that aren't
in the lineup. Chas McCormick isa bat off the bench today for the

(35:43):
Houston Astros. You could argue thatjose A Breyho is as well. He's
not in today's lineup. John Singletonwill play first base. Yesterday it was
Michael Brantley who's dhing today, andYiner. Neither of them were in the
lineup. So at some point ina game where the situation dictates, you
say, this might be a goodspot, this might be the best opportunity.
I'm gonna have the rest of theway and keep this in mind.

(36:04):
This is the bottom of the seventhinning. Martin Maldonado is up. If
you think with the three run depthsit, maybe I can wait and use
one of my best power hitters. He's second on the team and at bats
for Homer Einer Diaz. Maybe Ican wait until the eighth inning when two
guys are on. Maybe I canwait untill the ninth thinning when two guys
are on, you know, differentspot in the lineup. All those things
are totally reasonable. But now let'sput that into play. Okay, I'm

(36:28):
not going to pinch hit for Maldonadohere, Well, who's up after him
Altuve? And then who Peenya? And then who Alvarus? Who Bregman,
and then who Tucker? When whenis he going to pinch hit? Like
the lineup, when you put thelineup together, you know who he's gonna
pinch hit for. It's someone atthe bottom of the order, and it's
you're there. That's who's literally atthe plate. So I think there just
where a lot of reasons why thatwould have made sense to maybe enhance by

(36:51):
whatever small margin that might be,enhance your chances to get another runner on
base, make the traffic a littlebit more difficult for the a's to deal
with, and obviously try to puta dent in a three run deficit.
It's rather unlikely that it would happenwith Maldonado. But again, staring at
his under six hundred season long OPSis also not fair to me, because
I do believe in much more recencythan that. In his past forty five

(37:15):
days sixty days he has been significantlybetter. He's still the second worst hitter
on the team no matter what, because even going from a five sixty OPS
up to the plus seven hundred thathe has recently is still not even as
good of what you could have upthere. But again, it's looking at
him like he's a disaster when he'sbeen significantly better through a good portion of

(37:35):
the season. I don't find itfair, But that's the situation we're in.
That's how the question was asked,That's how the question was responded to.
And I'm sure more of that isto come as decisions that I think
are worthy of at least asking questionsabout are going to continue to come for
a team that is in important gamesfor the every single game of Dusty Baker's

(37:55):
managerial career, both here and elsewhere, because all he ever does is go
to the playoffs. Yeah, andwhen he gets there, will the Rangers
be a part of it? Well? In that vein, I guess some
breaking news. It's pretty significant MaxScherzer out the rest of the regular season
for the Rangers. How do Isay this terrorist major same injury, although

(38:19):
I can't tell you to the degreeof which that Justin Verlander had this very
season. They were teammates with theMets, and they end up having the
same injury, which probably keeps themout for roughly the same amount of time.
Justin Verlander's low grade terrorist major strainhad him on the IL on March
thirtieth, and he was pitching onMay fourth. That's not really in the
cards for Max Scherzer when it's Septemberthirteenth, and the Rangers would have to

(38:42):
win multiple postseason series for him toreturn under that timetable. There are no
minor league games for him to rehabin either at that point in the season.
He left yesterday's game in the sixthinning. He thought he would had
some cramps in his arm. It'ssomething that as a pitcher, he said
he's felt before, and he saidhe he actually wanted to continue. And
I think they made the right choicein the light of the situation and now

(39:05):
today for him to be out forthe rest of the regular season. Their
GM Chris Young, indicating unlikely hewould pitch in the postseason. And that's
why I brought up the Verlander injuryjust for a timeline standpoint. The regular
season ends on October first. Ifthe Rangers make the playoffs and don't win
the division, they've got a gametwo days later. They've got to win
two games over the next four daysto continue their season. Then they'd have

(39:29):
to win another series to continue theirseason, and the timeline at this point
the season suggests that strain won't allowfor him to pitch again, and that
is a huge, huge blow.So they're over for two basically with former
Mets pitchers on their roster. Yeah, And to be fair, and I'll
wet blanket a little bit, theAstros traded for the healthy one and he

(39:51):
just gave up five runs Easter night. Listen, far be it from any
of us here in Houston to gloator celebrate or do anything. It's yeah,
because honestly, deep down you kindof like we're rooting for these two
to meet in the postseason. Potentially. Matures are just pitched against the Astros,
and it was awesome for the Astros. I mean, it happens,

(40:12):
yeah, you know, he andJordan Montgomery were just lights out basically right
when they got there. Every gamethey pitched was a quality start and they
won them all. And then recentlyhe wasn't quite as sharp. Obviously had
the game against the Astros, andJordan Montgomery has had several of his worst
starts of the year now recently, and they're obviously in a tough spot.
They did edge past the Mariners andthey've won two straight against the Blue Jays

(40:37):
with two more to go. TheAstros and Mariners will take tomorrow off after
wrapping up their series today. TheBlue Jays and Rangers will continue playing their
four game series tomorrow. And thisis kind of what you can get used
to later in the season. TheRangers and the Blue Jays are both chasing
the Astros, but they're playing eachother. They can't both catch you at

(40:57):
the same time. Just when yourgames and this long as every team behind
you doesn't catch you every one ofthem, you make the playoffs. There's
three teams chasing them. They allhave to get past you or tie you
for you to miss the playoffs. And with that many games against one another,
there's still seven more to go thanthey are all Rangers Mariners matchups.
The math is so heavily in yourfavor, provided you don't bleep the bed

(41:21):
against the Oaklands and the Kansas Citiesof the world any more than you already
have this week. Yes, theyhaven't bleeped any Kansas City beds, just
well, it was running down theirleg last two nights. I just want
to put that image out there foreverybody as we wind our way down here
in the three o'clock hour. Whyis Baker Mayfield talking about the astros.
We will discuss when we come back. Gets go Elite, Let's go classic

(41:45):
Elite. On a Wednesday, We'regonna go to Classic Elite Chevy Sugarland Classic
Elite Chevy. Highway six was actuallyover at the Sugarland location this past Saturday.
Talk to some people out there checkingout some vehicles that, of course
with Elite inventory, are right thereon site. Whether you're looking for whatever
it is you're looking for, maybespecifically you are looking for a FOURD or

(42:07):
Silverado fifteen hundred. Potentially that wouldbe a good idea. Payments of four
ninety nine a month on that vehicleone point nine percent APR with hundreds to
choose from. Same story for theFOURD or Silverado twenty five hundreds with so
many on the lot, six ninetynine a month and one point nine ap
R GM dealer. The year wekeep telling you because they keep winning.

(42:27):
That's now twelve years in a row, soon to beat thirteen. Just make
your way on over there and askfor the great ownership duo of Jeff and
Tiffany Sebastian. I can tell youone thing's for sure. Jeff was really
really enjoying the effort from the ballclub the last two days as we had
a word. But always there foryou, always elites, Elite inventory,
elite pricing and elite service, ClassicElite Chevy Sugarland or classic Elite Chevy Highways

(42:51):
six. Make sure when you headon over there you tell them Adam we
Exler st you buy two lifelong Houstonsports guys named Adam talking your teams Adam
Clinton and Adam Wexfler for the eighteenfour number two here on the EIGHTEAM Sports

(43:16):
Talk seven ninety. If you missedthe first hour, a lot of Astro's
discussion, a little bit of Rangersdiscussion because late breaking news in the last
half hour or so, if you'vemissed it. Max Scherzer not expected to
pitch the rest of the regular seasonfor the Rangers, and in light of
the fact that it's September thirteenth andthe type of injury it is, it's

(43:39):
probably not likely to pitch for themthe rest of the year, however long
that is. But as Wex waslaying out, you know the fact,
and by the way his turn,I don't know if it would have come
up when the Rangers and the Marinersplayed each other. Anyways, I don't
know if how far in advance isthat next week. I guess it's the
last ten games of the season,a three game or a four gamer to

(44:00):
wrap it up, and then aseries in between. Obviously so, but
they could have theoretically missed him atleast one of those time. He might
have only pitched once. Okay, the maximum is twice. Not that.
I mean Max Scherzer that we sawand the Max Scherzer that's that's pitched for
them. I mean he's he hada strong I would say he had a
strong start to his Ranger's tenure andthen it fizzled out very quick. It's

(44:21):
just like the Astros throwing JV everyfifth day instead of Sean Dubin. I
mean, it doesn't even matter ifhe's pitching well or not. He's a
You gotta have people like that soyou're not relegated to hoping Renel Blanco brings
it, hoping Brandon b Lack bringsit. And that's what the Rangers are
now faced with. But I can't. I mean, they gave up I'm
sure they gave up prospects to gethim. They did, but they have

(44:44):
him to give and he's also undercontract, right, But like, if
this were just theoretically to happen withJustin Verlander, that is a such a
way worse scenario. Well, youjust decided that's the way you wanted to
go in order to get him.It was you were going to get relief
on his salary, massive relief, more relief than the Rangers got on Scherzer

(45:06):
salary. But in return, it'sto me, it's just very simple.
It's called buying prospects when the teamgives you salary relief. Same thing happened
when they traded for Zach Ranki. The Arizona Diamondbacks paid the Astros for four
of their top I believe fourteen fortheir top fifteen prospects. Now none of
them have worked out. Josh Rojasis on his third major league team,

(45:27):
contributing now for the Mariners. SethBeer is ruining Beer thirty by not being
a major leaguer. Lukowskis has flirtedwith being in a bullpen at the major
league level, and Corbyn Martin hashad some injury issues during his post Astro's
career. It was an awesome tradein terms of talent for Houston, and
I think the Rangers and Astros werehoping maybe that would work out. It

(45:49):
already worked out for Houston once inan AJV trade. The three players they
gave away for Justin verlanderd one afringe major leagueer and not currently, the
other a nevertime Major leaguer, andthe other one has a mustache and is
catcher for the Detroit Tigers. Yes, did you say never time major leaguer?
Yeah, okay, that's Franklin Perez. This time around, there they're
going to I think see that bothRyan Clifford and Drew Gilbert are real contributing

(46:15):
major leaguers, probably next year forGilbert at some point, and probably in
twenty twenty five for Ryan Clifford,if not sooner. But that's okay.
You're trying to win a World Seriesand those guys weren't going to help you
win it this this time. Youprobably weren't going to move them for other
players down the road. So youfelt like this was the opportunity to go
get another World Series, So theytried to do that. The World Series

(46:37):
they won last year I think helpedto shut a lot of people up,
but not everybody well, some peopleare still stupid, and some of them
are named Baker Mayfield. Does thatmake it as clear and concise as possible
to get to the topic at handhere? Yeah, I don't know how
Baker Mayfield and the Bucks managed tobeat Kirk Cousins. That they did somehow,

(47:00):
your favorite quarterback and one of histeammates, Baker's teammates, running back
Shot White, was on the radioand he was talking glowingly about Baker and
his knowledge, his intel, hissmarts, because he basically told the world
on the radio that well Baker knewwhat was up. We has to stop
right there. I wouldn't have donethis, you know, because now,

(47:24):
I mean, I guess you couldargue, well, how are you going
to prevent it? If he getsyour signs or your signals or what have
you, you know, that's onyou. But if that happens, which
apparently it did, or he's sayingit did, we just don't say anything.
Yeah, it's like tipping pitches. When you know that the other team
is tipping, you keep utilizing thatinformation without letting them know. But he

(47:44):
comes out and says this, likeyou said, he denied it. Well,
well, White, his quote wasI just remember Bake came in the
locker room literally at halftime and said, I got it. We got all
these signals. If they see this, that means they're playing Cover two.
They do that, they play andCover three and and all. They went
with that, and like I said, they won, they're wont and all.

(48:05):
So everybody's happy about this. It'sa great story. Ha ha ha.
They're asking Baker Mayfield about it,and he had the following to say,
I know him in Tampa. I'ma Texas Rangers fan like Houston Astros
fan. So we're not going toplay the laughter again real quick, Dan,
if you can, I just wantto just kind of zero in on
something here. Yeah, some ofthem are really getting a kick out of

(48:31):
that, Like and I I guessthere's people in that room that have covered
potentially, you know, a TampaAstros series in the postseason. Maybe,
I don't know. Uh yeah,it's I mean, if you're a columnist,
probably I was. I was justthe one chick that was really enjoying
that joke. Here she is,Well, that's it was a joke,

(48:54):
and it plays in every single professionalsports city except for one. Yeah,
it would be it would be theexact same reaction in every other city but
Houston. Yeah. Yeah, I'mjust glad that they're the only ones that
have ever done something. Ever.See, that's where Carlos Correa jumps in,
and that's why what he said isso on. He can't tell her
that she needs to shut the bleepup. Well, she didn't say anything.

(49:16):
She just laughs. She didn't haveto. It's just like people laughing
at what Ojay said. That's different. I don't think it was funny enough
to laugh at. For sure.It was. It was on the zero
to one hundred funny scale. Itwas at everything he says. But yeah,
I mean Baker Baker is I thinkI hope everybody knows this, with

(49:36):
his you know, proximity two Texasfor much of his life and then some
of his college life playing at Oklahoma. Yeah, he's a Rangers fan.
I think people know that, andso it makes sense that's that's good given
how he acts and talks. Buthe really loses. He literally is like
all the outsiders to the game, and at some point that's us too.
He doesn't know, he doesn't what'sgoing on. He doesn't know if the

(49:58):
Rangers are cheating it. To knowthe Rus are cheating. He doesn't know
who's using massage gun. He doesn'tknow who's using cameras. He doesn't know
who is telling the monitor. No, we're all good here. You can
go over to the other side andcheck on them. And then they use
their Apple watch to you know, buzz their hitting coach who then they make
the fall guy for it and thenrehire him. He doesn't know all that
stuff. He just made a joke. He had the microphone and he dropped

(50:20):
it. He didn't make a Patriotsjoke. They actually spot he could have,
but he didn't, but he becauseit doesn't make any sense for him
to do that. He's not NewYork. I don't I don't hate the
Patriots. Where is he from?Is he from Texas or he's from Oklahoma.
I know he went to Oklahoma, but he's from from the Great State
of Texas. He was a littlebit of that upset that the Longhorns weren't

(50:46):
his collegiate career. He ultimately wentto I mean, think about him like,
I don't even want to say heruns his mouth because he's just like
any other person who likes to talknoise. He does it all the time.
He's done it for He's only beenin the league a handful of years.
He's done it for ten years.Though he's was in arguments of the
Sporting Variety with how many other collegefootball teams and disrespect our logo and disrespect

(51:10):
the flag. He's been involved withthis ment. And the good news is
you can also then just say youcould well, you know, someone could
come back if they're trying to getaway from this this mess, or run
away, they could say, yeah, like running away from the cops like
you did when you fell over andgot tackled. It's a rather famous viral

(51:30):
video of him thinking he could outrunthe cops. I think he took three
and a half steps. Wow,that's how far he got. He had
some help. Yeah, he raninto the coursing through his veins. Yeah,
sometimes liquid courage has but you know, from a football and a this
is the King, you know,it's it was a little bit playful on
his part. And as it's goingto turn out yet again for almost a

(51:51):
full decade now, I do thinkthe team that is perfectly happy in their
own shoes, the Astros, willbe laughing all the way to the season.
Two more championships, in their sportthan he does in his. So
it's you know, it's fine, man. He gets to live at the
Heisman House. That's a personal achievement, I guess. I mean he's true,

(52:12):
he has one. There's not ahouse, though, is there.
Well, a certain car company hasone and it's one of the best ad
campaigns out there. It's hilarious.Oh yeah, I forgot about that,
all right. So yeah, there'syour Baker Mayfield update for the year.
I don't think this week there's onlygonna be a handful of teams that are
still undefeated, and his team,Baker Mayfield's team, could be one of

(52:34):
them. Baker Mayfield's team. Thatsounds so ridiculous for what he's done and
their favored to do so against theWOLFL Chicago Bears. I'm trying to see
how late in the season to theTexans play them. They play all four
of the NFC South games in succession. Really, I think it's games seven,

(52:54):
eight nine, ten. Might begames six, seven, eight nine.
That's odd, m I didn't Ididn't realize that. You did not
know that. I did not knowthat. Ed. Well, I'm glad
you pointed that out, all right. So there's your Baker Mayfield update.
Until the Texans play the Bucks. If he's still the Star Games five,
six, Week Off seven eight, they play Atlanta, New Orleans, Carolina,

(53:17):
Tampa, the fifth Tampa. Yeah, there's no way he's the quarterbacks.
Oh, I'm sure it'll be aKyle Trasky game. Yeah, he'll
have lost his starting job to Kyletrask Well, keep in mind, when
we talked about Baltimore being one ofthe toughest teams, one of the best
quarterbacks the Texans will face, itwas in a group of two. Well,
it was in a group of justa few, and what it got

(53:38):
smaller because they're not facing Aaron Rodgerson December tenth anymore. Are they facing
Zach Wilson. I believe they willbe you know who, They're not gonna
face Colin Kaepernick was pretty well knownto him. As long as it's not
when he was in the league. They're not going to face Robert Griffin.
Third. Nothing wrong with Kaepernick andhis group his agents reaching out to a

(54:00):
team that's looking for a quarterback sevenyears after his last NFL action. Yeah,
they're not. When he's he's stillyounger than half the people that everybody
else. They should look at thisguy. They still got this for Blabbert
guy, things can be true,Ye, Blaine Gabbert, How did he?
How did he play in the conferencetitle game? I play never been

(54:21):
there. It's fine as a quarterbackplayer. I mean, he's sure he's
been on the sidelines as a clipboardone conference championship game. It's just comical
to me. People act like ColinKaperticker wasn't a good player in the NFL,
which of course he was until hewasn't until he wasn't in the league
anymore. No, he sucked andgot benched before he was out of the
league. People forget that little detail. They're like, oh no, this
guy's being blackballed. Totally different story. The quarterbacks that play like him careers

(54:49):
do not end with how he played. It pretty much never happens, Like,
look at all these quarterbacks that playso badly, and then they play
again for somebody else and play reallyreally badly, and another team signs him
as a backup, and then anotherteam signs him as a backup. I
mean, basically, playing in theNFL came to a rapid conclusion in a
league where a lot of guys havea lot of baggage. But if they

(55:09):
can play, they play, andyou know the baggage that he has compared
to other players, baggage like sayCleveland's quarterback. Yeah, I mean that's
not baggage, that's a that's aGucci bag that Kaepernick has compared to that.
I don't care for that guy either. Just to be just to be
clear here, I'm an equal opportunitywhatever you want to call it in this

(55:31):
In this case, we will getto our signature segment for a Wednesday each
week, which is where we bitsteal. We take something for another show
on the station and they allow weallow them to program our show for a
segment. We'll do that when wecome back next here in the A Team
Sports Talks seven ninety. But Iwant to program you guys into starting to
think about the next time you're gonnago over to Kender, Louisiana. Because

(55:53):
Wex and I have been there before. We love talking about it. We
plan on going back again very soon. We're talking about Kushata Casino Resort.
You hear the spots on the station, you've seen the billboards, you've seen
it on TV. You know whatit's all about why aren't you out there
yet taking part in everything they haveto offer up to and including the rez

(56:14):
sportsbook with eighteen convenient betting kiosks rightthere in the casino. And it's a
massive casino, wex It's got everything. Yeah, it's the best. It's
the largest gaming floor you could everhope to have. The means table games,
that means slots, great poker room, everything you're looking for. It's
a resort, after all. Itis the Kushata Casino Resort. One hundred

(56:37):
thousand square foot gaming floor, multipleluxurious hotels, multiple fantastic restaurants obviously,
the resort style pool, the fantasticgolf. Everything. Again, it's a
resort's check it out Kushata Casino Resortdot com for information on contest events,
promotions, concerts, and everything goingon. As we get a little closer

(56:58):

and gentlemen, heaven heart, what'sup guys? Uh, you're listening to
Adam Clayton and Adam Wexler, asI say, sweat guy, Okay,
cool, okay, I just metthese guys to day sweating, lying I
didn't I know them. They're cool, They're the best. Listen fayteen on

(57:22):
Sports Talk seven nine of you alittle help over the hump with some Wednesday
BS bit stealing with the bit stealers, better known as I Gotta take the
sitcom a whole bunch of it,the A Team you stole my moves?

(57:44):
Oh yeah, let's steal some bits, well at least one here on a
Wednesday edition of the eight team signaturesegment. We spind the wheel and then
we do what we're told. Listenup that Thomas they got a good feeling.

(58:13):
This is there gut feeling on theMatt Thomas Show brandramp. This is
one of my favorite little music dittiesthat he plays from one of his segments.
There's so many bits on the MattThomas Show that entire show is one
gigantic bit which does not star RossThis week, He's on an inordinate amount
of look of vacation time right now. All right, So, in light

(58:37):
of the recent news, my gutfeeling that I swear on my children that
I really did think this before Ifound out about Max Scherzer. Gut feeling
after leading the division most of theyear with the injuries that they've already sustained.

(58:59):
You know, Joshua has been outawhile that did not help. They
kind of went to that tailspin. They've won a couple of games in a
row of late, but they didn'tgo out and get Max Scherzer so that
he would not pitch for them thelast month season of the season plus playoffs.
That's not gonna help their cause. The Rangers are not going to make
the postseason. That's my gut feeling. That means the Astros, Mariners,

(59:21):
and Blue Jays will. The Rangershave already beaten the Blue Jays twice in
two tries. They've got two morethe next two days. The rest of
the Rangers schedule sures or lists lookslike this again. They continue to play
through Thursday. Astros and Mariners areoff Thursday, go to Cleveland for three,
go to Boston for three, havetheir final off day of the season

(59:44):
that Thursday, like the Astros andMariners, and then they are home for
Seattle. They go to play theAngels and then they go to play the
Mariners. Final four games, finalfour days of the season. Four games
series with the Mariners is in Seattleto in the year. There's just what
you just said, that gauntlet thatthey're gonna have to run, that gamnet

(01:00:07):
whatever. I just don't see it, man, not with the Blue And
I know you just got done sayingthat they just beat the Blue Jays.
They still have two more with him. Blue Jays are playing much better,
They're much healthier. I just thinkthat of the teams you're talking about,
other than the Astros, if there'sonly two spots for those three, they're

(01:00:29):
the worst of the three. Yeah. Well, they're RBI leader for most
of the season. Adolas Garcia anotherinjury. As we know, it's been
out of action since he ran intothe wall thinking he could go high enough
to catch a Michael Brantley blast. He was close. That hurts. Not
very smooth, having, you know, a rookie who was on his way
to winning Rookie of the Year andyoung being out as long as he's been.

(01:00:50):
Although they're still likely return for him, who knows what he will hit
like when he does. And nowyou know an anchor of your pitching staff
is no longer there for you.And they've their pitching staff in general has
had a lot of cracks in it, which is why they got those two.
They just mentioned a couple of segmentsago. Neither has been pitching particularly
well, talking about Montgomery and Scherzer, and we all know about their bullpen.

(01:01:12):
It just has not been very good. They've had chances to win games
that their bullpen has not allowed forbecause they haven't been able to slam doors.
And yeah, I don't I don'tthink a team who's been their season
mirrors most of the astros excellent seasonsthe last six years. They're okay on
the road, and they're unbelievable athome, and they've actually come back down
to earth in both regards. TheRangers on the road, where they've won

(01:01:35):
their last two games against Toronto finallyput them over five hundred on the road.
They were under five hundred when theygot to Toronto. They're not a
game over, and we just mentionedhow their season ends with seven road games.
It does not bode well for them. And obviously Seattle, I don't
see any reason why Julio Rodriguez isgoing to continue being the maybe the best
offensive player in baseball for about aneight week stretch. If that continues,

(01:01:59):
they're going to be the other teamin this division that makes it there and
if the Astros can manage to notget swept by the A's and Royals,
lord, they'll probably be okay.I mean, so, your gut feeling
is actually the same one it wasprobably when they were forty and twenty.
The Rangers are gonna find a way. Well, I know, I wouldn't

(01:02:20):
have said. I wouldn't have saidthe Rangers are gonna miss the playoffs at
any point before, like probably let'ssay two weeks ago. You know,
when they were tail spinning. Howlong was that streak? Eight games?
The losing streak like that was unheardof this year. Every time the Astros
would win a game, you'd lookup, well the Rangers did two,
and oh, by the way theywon like fifteen to two. You know,

(01:02:42):
it was it was ridiculous. They'dnever ever lost. Update since there's
activity on the diamond this afternoon,as we continue through with gut feelings.
The Mariners ace is on the moundagainst the La Angels and he is pitching
to a two one deficit. LuisGusto five is allowed to the Mariners batting
in the bottom of the fifth, down two to one. Do you think

(01:03:05):
when he gets to ninety one pitcheshe's gonna complain and be asked to take
be taken out. It's funny becauseI've mocked that that would happen with JV
last night. Essentially it did.He was just able to finish the inning
and go through full seven, buthe didn't cry at and Castile will reach
the ninety pitch threshold during two oftheir biggest well would be because Calm likes

(01:03:25):
more promised than delivery. Two oftheir brightest young prospects stars whatever you wanna
call them, really are crybabies oneand literally Yeah, and Kirby kind of
came out of nowhere. I washu. I didn't expect that at all.
I like him. Yeah, soI'll wears the wrong jersey. I'll
cut him a little bit of abreak, all right, gut feeling oh

(01:03:45):
for five? Last week is theseason opened? Sean Payton. He's a
loser, a bird gang guy loser. Shane Steiken who sir, uh demiko
loser loser was the other? News? Who is the other? I wanted

(01:04:08):
to leave at least one out therefor you, but I'm not. Johnny
gannon card gang guy ye Shane Steikenwho else held an introductory press conference,
saying man, I can't wait tocoach here. It's gonna be awesome.
We're gonna win games, and it'sgonna be neat. Why can't I think
of this? I mean, you'regonna ask Dan for help if you want.
I mean, he's here too, right, Frank Reich in Carolina.

(01:04:29):
So three of these coaches have rookiequarterbacks. It is guaranteed Bargetie, one
of them, one of them willhave a win by the end of this
weekend. As Demiko. Of courseat home, it's gonna of course,
it's gonna win at home. They'rethey're, they're, they're as currently they
are still done. They are stilldogs. The line is one to one.
Yes, it's fluctuated a little bit. The Colts favored by one.

(01:04:51):
So my gut feeling is not onlywill Demiko get win number one. Sean
Payton's Broncos hosting the Commies, BirdGang Guy hosting the very very very angry
New York Giants, very very angry. Well, they can be angry all

(01:05:11):
they want. If they don't blockfor Daniel Jones, they're gonna go too.
And Frank Reich and Bryce Young andthe Carolina Panthers, after opening with
their el are hosting the Saints. My gut feeling is not only will he
the first to get his first win, he will remain the only new head
coach to have a win as weenter Week three, Really, Panthers will

(01:05:34):
lose at home to the Saints.Yeah, that's why I'm looking at bird
Gang guy will complete his mission forone more week. We're trying to get
to the Super Bowl of Caleb Williamsby losing all of our games. Obviously,
Shane Steichen's gonna stumble in Houston againstthe Texans, and the Broncos,
even though they are favored, arenot going to beat the Commies. I

(01:05:57):
actually agree with the Broncos one morethan any of the other ones. You
said, I guess the one that'sreally going against the grain. Yeah,
but I just don't trust Russell RussellWilson. I don't trust anything about what
Denver's done, even on your fantasyteam. No, that was that was
like the best of a bad bunchthat I needed for a backup for one

(01:06:19):
week. I know we're are longsince up against it. That is a
horrible team, by the way,that I drafted. So there's there's a
program called hard Knocks and then there'sthirty one other teams that have awesome internal
social media and creative teams, andthey oftentimes produce their own pieces. The
Birds, the Flight, Our Flight. That's what Caroline is doing with air

(01:06:41):
Group. Excuse me, Arizona isdoing with air Group. They put out
one during the off season, onea month during the off season. They
put out one right at the beginningof the season, right at the beginning
of camp as well, one ofthe most recent ones. I mean,
there's just no way you can't thinkyou want to run through a wall for
bird Gang Guy. And if youwant to know why, I call Jonathan

(01:07:01):
Gannon bird gang Guy. It stemmedfrom this moments after he was officially hired,
and that's when the social media team, of course gets a hold of
him for a hello, We're gonnabe awesome type of social media post.
What's up, bird Gang Jonathan Gann, you new head coach Arizona Cardinals.
Ready to get to work. Buckleup, We're gonna have some fun.

(01:07:23):
So I'm already fired up if I'ma fan. What's up, bird Gang
man? What's up? Bird Gang? Even not even Primetime can come with
that kind of energy. Now hegets to meet with the entire team,
and then you know, the teamauditorium as they get set for their season.
He's initially he's curious about how theygot there. Welcome back, Good

(01:07:45):
to see everybody's faces. Who droveover here? Pretty push your hands?
Who took the bus? This isa speech up firing your gut, didgit?
We're here for a reason. Getthat twisted? Okay? We're here
for a reason to win games. So if you didn't have that fire in
your gut, you better you betterlight the fire pretty fast. Okay?

(01:08:11):
Are you serious? How fast isthat wall gonna fall over when they run
through it? Like it's just gonnacrumb? How fast are they gonna reinforce
it to keep him on the otherside of it from them? That's your
that's your leader, that's your headcoach. You know what kind of players
are well, you'd better If youdon't, then you'd better soon, I
promise you. He's like Michael Scott, what kind of players do you think
he wants? Uh? Weak ones? Truthfully? If you said, hey,

(01:08:33):
JG, what do you want yourteam to look like? I want
him to be killers? Truthfully, silent killers, killers, silent kick Just
understand I'm looking for killers. Didyou hear that he wants silent killers?
Hey, I'd like a team fullof hypertension? Please? What's up for

(01:08:57):
a gang? Why does he talklike this all the time? You know,
he kind of reminds me of anold buddy of ours. Hey,
everyone, how's it going. I'man investigative journalist and with like killers on
my football team. Check me outtonight on KPRC Channel two. What I'm
Joel? You realize that Joel isten billion times the man that guy is.
Though you sometimes have inaccurate but veryself loathing complaints about some of your

(01:09:23):
impressions. Yeah, do you likethat one? That impression is on point.
But I think one reason you havethat in your bag is because he
sat next to me for eight years. It's because it's so close to somebody
else, so close to somebody elsethat works within these very walls. It's
very loud. Oh, Producer,Kenny, I'm a big fan of your

(01:09:46):
wife. Tell Teresa. I said, hello, Hey, we need to
get you guys to do some routinesfor us over on nine fifty. Just
come down the hall record any time. Man be well, he's the best.
I love. Producer Kenny yep onpoint with both well done. That's
in your go man gut feelings. Now see a fire in your gut.

(01:10:08):
I used to do. Howard becameRandy mcilvoy. That's whites birred gang.
Oh my goodness, you're one smokinghot broad. You know that. Now
it's Randy. How's the crowd outthere? It's the same guy, It's
just without a New York accent, all right? Q SEE Kinnetics. How's

(01:11:17):
with your friends a QC Kinetics. This is Jabari Smith Jabari for three Smith
Wat Threezeta Clutch with the iHeart Radioout here every Rockets game on Sports Talk
seven nineties. Time to get youout to go see the Cougars skick off

(01:11:45):
their Big twelve schedule this Saturday nightover TDCU Stadi Shasta will be there.
TCU will also be there. They'llbring their one and one record to the
Cougars who have a one and onerecord. I want you, guys us
to join me out there. I'llbe out there, Dan will be out
there. We're gonna be in thebud Light Cougar Den and you can be
out there with us as well toenjoy some some food, some some sodas,

(01:12:10):
some waters and of course ice coldrefreshing bud Light. In order to
do do that, all you haveto do is answer this very simple trivia
question seven one three two one twofive seven ninety seven one three two one
two five seven ninety The last timecurrent you of h head football coach Dana
Holgerson coached against TCU, his WestVirginia team trounced the horn Frogs to the

(01:12:33):
tune of forty seven to ten.Which current Texan played in that game?
And I mean among the seventy playerson either the active roster or on their
practice squad currently played in that game? He did not play for West Virginia.
Is your hint? So I'll saywhich former horn Frog played in that

(01:12:58):
game? In a w for coachcoach Holgerson? Uh with West Virginia one
three two one two five seven.Every time you say the phrase West Virginia,
do you think of John Denver?Uh? West Virginia? Yep,
Mom of the Mountains? What's yourfavorite John? When you say West Virginia,

(01:13:19):
I think Mountaineers. I think Pittsnoggleand other sporting related names. Take
me home? Yeah, see whatJohn Denver song? Is Dan gonna bump
back with to wind down the fouro'clock hour? That's the real question.
I thought the Colorado Rockies were gonnabe a lot rocky than this. Maybe

(01:13:40):
he'll get high with with his tune. Maybe uh, an, we'll enjoy
the song that he plays. I'mnot sure what he'll go with. James
Taylor or John Denver. Oh mygod, no, I want to hear.
I want to hear the only redeemingquality that James Taylor has. Gosh
is a very very brief cameo ina movie called Funny People with Adam Sandler

(01:14:03):
and Seth Rogan. This is astraight to video, uh maybe essentially Sandler
a famous comedian, are famous comedicactor. He's basically playing himself, but
he's not himself and he learns thathe's gonna die sick. And Seth Rogan
is an aspires aspiring comic who hehires to write jokes for him. And

(01:14:25):
so Facebook pays Sandler like five hundredthousand dollars to come to their retreat and
you know, do a ten minuteshow or whatever for him. And they're
preceded by James Taylor. This soundsamazing, and well, there's a bunch
of comedians in it because there's alot of comedy clubs. It's I think
it's very well, it's super dark. When did this come out, I

(01:14:46):
don't know. After a run, probably after all of his best comedies.
So James Taylor opens yeah, andhe just has a couple of lines afterwards,
when Sandler's quote unquote on stage andhe's talking at Seth Rogan off the
side, he has a couple offunny lines. As far as his music,
I mean, I don't need fireor Rain, I can tell you
that much. I've finally met somebodythat cannot stand him more than Teresa.

(01:15:09):
I didn't know that they exist. There's a few out there, like some
all time super populars that I justhave no use for. Janis Joplin,
Bob Dylan, Taylor would scream atyou all the time. And Dylan can't
sing. I mean, who can'tdo a Bob Dylan impersonation? By the
way his part and We Are theWorld is the best? Me like,

(01:15:31):
it's pretty strong. Who was theother one you mentioned, Bob Dylan,
Janis Joplin, And who was thethird one? Well, Jimmy himself,
James Taylor. Okay, I thoughtyou said Jimmy Hendrix. Maybe know why
would you do that? Well?I didn't think so. But James Taylor's
good, He's popular. I knowyou don't like Jackson Brown. Well,

(01:15:53):
I was that was what I wasabout to say, and maybe you caught
me mouthing that. I mean, the Eagles link makes me not want to
hate him so much because he helpedwrite a lot of their songs. But
his songs, even though there's oneand fast time, that's a really nice
jacket. I mean, that's areally nice jacket. It's such a great
line. I'm eighteen, I'm reallyeighteen. All right, Where do you

(01:16:15):
want to go? How about thepoint? You know what? The point
is a gross, disgusting, poorlylit dugout on a high school baseball field,
and that's where they're gonna go todo that? Say it like that?
Where do you want to go?I want to go to a little
league park where nobody's currently playing agame and sit on the dirty bench with
graffiti everywhere, and see what happenswhere we'll probably get murdered. But Stacy,

(01:16:39):
it was no different than going intothe changing cabana at her house with
Demon. They're all the same.Demon was such a skis socks. Come
on, Demon, wherever you are, that's the place to be. Isn't
this great? It's worse to liveby. He's got a five point plan
brother, all right to Earth,Wind and Fire, which I actually a

(01:17:00):
Jefferson and little brother, little brother. He's a scalper at a mall,
making banks better than so much money. He had to call his buddies to
scrounge up his half. He's ascalper at a mall in nineteen eighty two.
Scalps. He just happened to choosethe mall for that particular location.
That's true, because he would doit at school in the hall, absolutely,

(01:17:23):
I mean he was. He triedto teach Arnold about the five point
spread. If they remade Fast Timestoday, would McConaughey would be in it?
Well, of course he'd be it. But what would he be He's
too old to do like any ofthem. He couldn't be in the high
school students. Why they stay thesame age? I know who i'd be,
mister hand. Couldn't this be ourtime? Oh wait, that's his

(01:17:44):
line. I screwed it up.I just like he could be the pizza
delivery guy, he could be thescience teacher. He kind of could be
Spaccoli if Spaccoli was super old andstill in high school. All right,
let's talk about something. Let's talkabout Kushata Casino Resort. Let's talk about
the fact that you have been thinkingabout it, but you just haven't quite

(01:18:06):
pulled the trigger yet. You haven'tdecided to go ahead and make that run
over to Kender, Louisiana and takepart in everything they have to offer there.
And it really, I mean, this is like a is Doctor Phil
would say, this is a laundrylist of fun things you can do.
I mean, they've got the largestcasino resort in Louisiana with the largest gaming

(01:18:28):
floor, which kind of makes sense. Adam, I'm gonna hook you up
with our casino host for the weekend. It's a doctor McGraw. He's gonna
show you over to the poker roomwe have here at the Kushata. We've
just redone it. It's great outthere. If you'd like to wager on
Scajian egg rolls, absolutely give mea food coma. What else do they
do they have for me? Imean, I appreciate you show them around

(01:18:48):
Cashada. I've been go how bigis the gaming floor largest? It's the
largest in Lake Charles. If youwere listening earlier, I said that in
my book, you've probably read it. Largest gaming lore in Lake Charles and
the number one golf course in thestate. They call it Kasati Pines.
Awesome. Appreciate it. Doctor, visit the Kushata website Coushada Casino Resort dot

(01:19:13):
com and playing your Escape to Louisiana. I'm sorry, but I gotta put
an asterid on any organization that Wow, keep the astro's name out your mouth.
Hey, hey, sound what up? This is Jay Fellows back to

(01:19:33):
the eighteen Sports Talk seven eighth's NoBetter Live? A sweet say he's no
Better Live? Like somehow if anartist that you don't like it got up
on a stage and you were there, it might be better. Nope,

(01:19:56):
listen how fired up the crowd is. But that's not That's not the kind
of show this is, right,Like I can go to this show and
be happy, and then I cango to Metallica at Jerry World and you
know, melt my face off andI'm happy either way. Which midday host
here on Sports Talk seven ninety thatattended his own show today? Do you
think was mad at me for sayingross I don't like James Taylor. Of

(01:20:19):
course he was mad at Why don'tyou just say the Beatles are overrated?
While you're at it. Oh wait, that's my line, because they are
overrated, super popular. No,other music's fine. It's fine, exactly.
It's not life changing. No,it hasn't split the atom. It

(01:20:40):
hasn't cured cancer. It's just crappysixties rock with crappy instruments that existed back
then and crappy drum sets that don't. He didn't even have a second Tom
Ringo. He's a terrible drummer.John Bonham kicks his ass twice Mexico,
Lars kicks his ass. Vinnie Paulpants around two Carolina on my mind.

(01:21:03):
I mean, how bad if you'regonna play this is honestly like not helping
my argument because this song sucks likeDan stop no, like he said stop
stop, thank you as sweet? It is like he's got this. Uh.

(01:21:24):
And wasn't he dating like Carol Kingor one of those other seventies female
singers and they were writing songs togetherand whatnot and making whoopie out of words?
Yeah she wrote that he wrote thator she did? Did she cut
that particular song? She? Youknow, weren't they married, They weren't
just dating, they were married, right, I mean, I don't know
how the kids were doing it backin the seventies. What do you mean
how they were doing it? Cohabitating, dating, marrying. I don't know,

(01:21:47):
like when, uh, like whenwas it Glenn Fry was leaving,
was living with Stevie Nicks before Frywas living with Stevie Nicks. Why was
that wrong? Or maybe it wasTom Eddie and Stevie Nicks, That's what
I'm thinking of. I mean theymade some music together. Yeah, he's
dragging her heart around me. Yeah, she needed to quit it. Well

(01:22:08):
hate already. See, just whenyou guys think that Wex is the most
dad ever, he comes in witha little zinger like that and he proves
to you that he can hang.Who did this come from? Thank you
to every person that has reached outcalled Texas DM, connected through a friend,

(01:22:28):
et cetera. It's a men aton to me and I'll try and
get back to all of you soon. Happy face emoji in a heart.
I'm completely heartbroken and moving through allof the emotions, but deeply touched and
humbled by the support and love.Another heart emoji. Please keep me in
your thoughts and prayers as I beginthe healing process today. Prayer hands emoji

(01:22:49):
and another heart emoji. The nightis darkest before the dawn, and I
shall rise yet again proud of myguys, want to know? And then
there's an airplane flying emoji martim Aldanato. It's Aaron Rodgers. Oh h do
you think he's telling everybody to relax? Still, that's something that people in

(01:23:11):
the NFL, both for and againstthe Jets, probably need to do.
Anti jets, They're gonna fall apart. They're not a factor anymore. Pro
Jets. I think we can reallystill see a very positive season about anti
Aaron Rodgers. Like that lunatic KeithAlverman, What an absolute a hole he
is. I mean we already knewthat, but like plus goes back,
Like I mentioned that TikTok I madethe other day, it's at one point

(01:23:35):
two million point two million? Whyare you here? Haven't you made a
million dollars on the internet yet?I'm still sifting through all the offers to
be an influencer. I'll probably tomorrow. But what does that also elicit?
Thousands of comments? And you nameit? It was there, you know
from you know, Aaron Rodgers deservedit. It couldn't happen to a nicer

(01:23:56):
guy to unvaccinated injuries hashtag so ridiculso sad we because that's what social media
has done, desensitize it. Firstof all, it was Grand Theft Auto.
Then it was social media to blame. Think about it. You can
do so many horrible things for free. Name one. To close this up,
I don't want to encourage anybody.I'm not gonna get that responsibility.

(01:24:18):
But if you want game crowd ofpedestrians on a beach, you could and
sadly at events around our country, parades and other things. But we've seen
that very thing. That's what I'msaying. I don't even want to remind
that's why we're supposed to ban thevideo games, because then if it happens
there, it happens in real life. You know, I've said this more
than one occasion on the air.I don't like getting into my truck immediately

(01:24:42):
after playing Grand Theft Auto because you'vegot ideas. Not because I think I'm
gonna do it, but because whenwhen you're driving a fast car on that
game, recklessly through the streets.Fast car another horrible song. That's not
that's Tracy Chapman. You're gonna butit's back because of Luke Combs. Oh
yeah, didn't she Uh didn't shesing that it like it's live eight or

(01:25:08):
something where she was total minority.Nobody, nobody thinks that. Everybody else
thinks it's a great song. Idon't because he's say Luke Combs that come
running like It's incredibly popular. Bothobviously her version versions. This version is
very very popular, yes, buthers much more popular. I mean,

(01:25:28):
she had a couple of other hitsand a couple of other albums and has
stayed in the public eye for someof that time. But loyalties financing her
life or from this sure, forsure, that's all you needed. That's
an accomplishment very few people have.Like Chumbawamba had that one song tub thumping.
Yeah there you good man. Ibet you don't know what year it
came out though a while ago.I get knocked down. I mean it's

(01:25:53):
so easy to use in sports andstuff and things like if you come up
with a song, they can uselike that. That's That's basically what Aaron
Rodgers was putting on his Instagram.I get knocked down, but I'll get
up again. Robert Sail also todaysaying I highly doubt he is not retiring,
so he'll get up again. Hewill get up again. A little
doubt that that would be the case. I didn't know if he would have

(01:26:14):
to say it, and so farhe hasn't, but I'm sure he will.
We have a shift into Astros ondeck just a few moments away.
No better way to get set upfor Astro's baseball as they crushed the A's,
you know, send them on theirmarried way. I mean this,
that would be a big job.If the Astros were going to exterminate the
A's, well, they've already exterminatedthemselves, as in, they're in dead

(01:26:38):
place. I know they're gonna begone after today, and they'll have a
hundred losses. I don't know ifthey'll quote unquote be exterminated, but they'll
be gone. It's like the Astrosare taking care of their pest control needs
by getting rid of the These arepests, are they not? And they
did. These ninety nine loss A'sthis week have been major league pasts.
And it actually fits because we're talkingabout Campbell's pest control. You can call

(01:27:00):
it seven one, three, six, nine, four thirty four thirty three.
And the A's already did something thatChris can help you out with.
They got rid of the rat ontheir roster. They exterminated Mike Fires that
rat. You know what, I'mnot gonna say that Chris Campbell will come
out to your house and, youknow, do something bad to Mike Fires.
But if there were rats in yourhome like Mike Fires, he could

(01:27:21):
definitely do something about that. Yeah, hard to believe that. At one
point in time, Jeff Luno wasemployed by Chris Campbell and he called up
the Brewers and helped the Brewers exterminateMike Fires from their roster, and unfortunately
he became an astro through one ofhis two no hitters, The Rat against
the Dodgers of all teams, believableseven one three, six nine four thirty

(01:27:41):
four thirty three. If you needto get rid of your Mike Fires,
call Campbell's Best control seven one three, six nine, four thirty four thirty
three. In my mind, thissong is so terrible. H. Gantas
