Speaker 1 (00:03):
Next few minutes of the program until we get on
Monday show more NBA stuff from the weekend, and of
course more of the Coach Pop discussion coming up here
in just a bit. We do have one other story
to share with you that we have not yet gotten to,
and that would be that the nc DOUBLEA has decided
to take a disciplinary action on current and former Iowa
(00:23):
State football support staff members further for combining to make
more than sixty two hundred dollars in online bets tell
our sixty two hundred online bets tolling more than one
hundred grand professional and college games. This includes men's and
women's basketball involving the Cyclones. These five were identified during
a state investigation. They faced no criminal charges. Sure this
(00:44):
was between twenty one and twenty three. Chase Hiccock, Chase Clark,
Michael Dryer, Kyle Highland, and Mason Williams acknowledged that they
violated NCUBA sports wagering bylaws and all are subject to
a one year show cause order through April twenty four,
twenty two, twenty six.
Speaker 2 (01:01):
Oh okay, cool, well, you broke you broke a rule
and you just get a slap on the wrist. I
don't get that whatsoever. One of these particular players or
people is what's the guy's name, Chase Clark, who was
the former assistant director of football equipment Operations. He placed
(01:22):
two three hundred and five bets totally in about eighteen
six hundred and seventy six dollars, which included forty six
bets on Iowa State men's and women's basketball games. Guess
what he's doing.
Speaker 1 (01:35):
Right now, Andy, iould imagine he's employed in someplace that's
not at Iowa State.
Speaker 2 (01:40):
Correct. No, he's employed as the assistant equipment manager for
the Detroit Lions. So the fighting Dan Campbell's are probably like,
can we get the lion now? And can we feed
this guy to the lion? Because I'm if I'm Dan Campbell,
I'm immediately going to HR or whoever is in charge
of hiring this guy. I'm said, this guy needs to
get out of here because we don't need, we don't
(02:01):
even need the potential of that happening here whatsoever, because
again of how strict those rules are.
Speaker 1 (02:09):
So I just don't Well, it comes back to the
education process, and you know it's if you're if you're
involved with an athletic program, you have inside information about
what who's playing and who's not playing, and who's hurt
and who's not, and the demeanor of the team, and
(02:29):
if somebody woke up on the wrong side of the bed,
or if somebody the quarterbacks girlfriend broke up with him,
and those are all influential in determining whether or not
you're going to bet on somebody something or not. It's
a bad look. And I understand the equipment managers at
schools probably don't make a lot of money, and you
probably made more in your bets if you betted correctly.
(02:50):
But you know, sometimes the team that's supposed to win
doesn't and if you bet the wrong way, you're going
to lose. And now you have money that you probably
don't have to lose. But people are always chasing the
dream of getting as much as they can for as
long as they can. So anyway, I guess we'll see
what happens to all these guys. If they be hard
to get a job with that on your resume.
Speaker 2 (03:11):
Well, well some of them do. One of them got
hired back. So I just don't do anything where there's
the track record.
Speaker 1 (03:18):
Man, all right, that'll wrap it up for today. Thanks
to Shane, thanks to Michael, Thanks to you. More coming
up on Monday Golf Show tomorrow morning. Have a great night.
