Speaker 1 (00:04):
Yes, I was way off the O U bandwagon this
time last year. I'm starting to sip the kool aid
a little bit.

Speaker 2 (00:10):
Who called it?

Speaker 1 (00:11):
UH? What me? I? I had them? I had them
seven and five.

Speaker 2 (00:14):
And I said, like, nine three is realistic A ten
wins season.

Speaker 1 (00:18):
I doubted you. Now they should beat Missouri and L
s U at home, but and that puts them into CFP.
They're not gonna be in the championship game because Texas
A and M. Even if they lose, it's gonna it's
gonna be Texas A and M, Georgia and ole Miss.
Right now, the are the top three teams in the SEC,
So a combination of probably Georgia and Ole Miss are

(00:39):
gonna play A and M if they beat Texas, and
then they're gonna have to figure out what the three
way tiebreaker is if they don't.

Speaker 3 (00:44):
I think Ole Miss actually has a pretty easy schedule,
as I can try and look it up.

Speaker 1 (00:48):
I think they'd only have UH. I think they have State.
I thought I think they're done it.

Speaker 2 (00:53):
Think you're right. I know L s U. They have
their they have their yearly game with Arkansas left them.

Speaker 3 (00:57):
I'm not mistaken, h or sorry, not sorry, Georgia has
their game sorry with Georgia Tech. Yeah, so Georgia just
has Charlotte and Georgia Tech. Georgia Tech getting problems last year.

Speaker 1 (01:06):
And Georgia Tech could upset them this year, although that's
not but they're done.

Speaker 3 (01:10):
With SEC play because they played Charlotte next which I
mean you and I just saw Charlotte. Well that'll be
oh miss has yea Missippi State left. The Missippi State,
to their credit, has actually played teams pretty close this year,
so that might not be as much of a slam
dung as people think it is, by the way, I
looked up during the break. Also, Indiana they played one
last last game and that's obviously their yearly match up
with Purdue, so they're probably going to be undefeated. And

(01:32):
then you mentioned Ohio State. I know they played Michigan
to end up the year, but they played Rutgers next.
H they should win that game.

Speaker 1 (01:38):
Too, and they and they better beat Michigan this year.
Even if Ryan Day wins the National Championship.

Speaker 2 (01:42):
He's not going to play fire well recently.

Speaker 1 (01:45):
Yeah, but is that that game is in Michigan, isn't it. Yeah,
it's in the it's in the in the Big House.

Speaker 2 (01:49):
That stay is so nice. I would love to go
to that stadium one day.

Speaker 1 (01:52):
People. There's a bunch of stadiums I've not not been to.
We got l s U in a couple of years
where the Cowboys are playing tonight, which is really not
a college stadium but allegiant to stadium in Vegas. UTSA
goes there in a couple of years. But yeah, we
went to Tennessee the twenty twenty three. That was a
That stadium is amazing. But I would like to go

(02:14):
to the Big House, the Horseshoe, Notre Dame Stadium, all
the I have not No, I've never been to the
Rose Bowl, but I hear it's it's in bad need
of a refurbishing job.

Speaker 3 (02:25):
Well mean, it's the same thing as kind of like
lambeau Field, Like it is the historic aspect.

Speaker 1 (02:28):
Of it alone. Yeah, but lambeau Field, if you look
at it, it's and you look at pictures from say
the eighties and nineties to now, it's been renovated multiple times. Sure, Yeah,
there's a there's a lot of a lot of good
things to look at there.

Speaker 3 (02:41):
I've been actually to Death Valley and l Show, and
I didn't go to a game. But I got to
the staium. It's really really nice.

Speaker 1 (02:46):
Yeah, and it's right there, but the dormitory is attached
to it. That's how they got it built because they
couldn't build a stadium, so they said, we're just going
to build something that is attached to the to the uh,
the dorms, and we're going to call it easy access
the fan. Yeah, easy access for the students. So but
that's It's kind of like when we built the Altomo Dome,
it had to be attached to the via bus station

(03:06):
for the via tacks to go into effect. And when
LSU built their stadium one hundred years ago, it had
to be attached to the dorms so that whatever money
was being allocated towards the dorms could be times a
thousand or one hundred thousand so they could build a stadium.

Speaker 3 (03:21):
Did you get I know, y'all's a plane On Saturday
after the game was delayed, it was did you get
to watch any deal clumba game?

Speaker 1 (03:26):
All of it? Oh?

Speaker 2 (03:27):
Wait, what did you think?

Speaker 1 (03:29):
I was surprised that their defense was amazing, And what
I am noticing is their defense is back to being
fast again. Last year their defense was too slow and
they couldn't stop anybody. And Matier is a really good quarterback,
and had he not gotten hurt, my guess is is
he would have played better against Texas than he did,

(03:50):
and he'd still be a Heisman Trophy candidate. He may
still be. I I could care less who wins the
Heisman these days.

Speaker 3 (03:56):
Anyway, Yeah, I think I think at this point it's
quite too late, because we're getting closer to closer to
to that announcement.

Speaker 1 (04:01):
It's probably going to be Mendoza, right, Mendoza.

Speaker 3 (04:03):
Would be leading from me along with Marcel Reid from
A and M, and I would also have Jacob Rodriguez
from Tech.

Speaker 1 (04:08):
Speaking of Texas A and M, their season was in
peril on Saturday against South Carolina, and you always know
you're going to get a game against a team you
should beat, but somehow they hang around and they got
out to a thirty to three lead before Texas A
and M scored twenty eight in the in the second
half to win the game thirty one to thirty and
had to get a couple of got to get a

(04:30):
fourth down stop to ice the game. So congrats to
them for that. I think the Aggies, and I got
to see them play at the beginning of the year
in case he Concepcion I thought was great, and he's
even better now. Mario Craver is really good. And what's
the hyphenata guy's name, the oh Ethel Roman Roman. Yeah, yeah,
he's really good too. We haven't heard a lot from

(04:52):
Moss lately, but I think he's a pretty good back.

Speaker 3 (04:55):
And Rosonoen's has kind of become the guy who htes,
but Levia Moss he still gets those like between the
tackles type runs, so he's still very much a factor.

Speaker 1 (05:02):
So anyway, I think it's I think it's I think
it's pretty good. And and uh well, I think the
Akis are going to play Texas, and I'm sure Texas
is going to do everything in their power not to
have their horn saw off in their own building in
two weeks.

Speaker 2 (05:18):
Yeah, I think.

Speaker 3 (05:19):
Also, I didn't realize that labor Mass like I knew
he was out for last week. I think he might
sit probably against Stanford as well. He probably pay against Texas,
I think. And I'm curious to see how you for
about this. I think if Oklahoma wins out, you're right,
they're not gonna win the championship. I would give them
enough credence based on their quality wins and their quality
losses to put them in there. Hypothetically, let's say Texas

(05:39):
does in fact win win out and they go nine
to three. I don't think that's enough to put them
in the playoffs.

Speaker 1 (05:46):
I think Texas is out. I think Texas already out.
I think they're playing for the best ball game they
can get, which could be I guess what, probably cotton ball,
maybe probably caught Bowl.

Speaker 3 (05:56):
Because the top at least at least four SEC schools
are going.

Speaker 2 (05:59):
To get into the playof just based on where they
are now.

Speaker 1 (06:01):
Well I have I'll share that with you in a
little while. But I got five on that. But I
was impressed. But the Aggies come back, the long Horns did,
and I didn't get to see any of that because
we took off about the time.

Speaker 2 (06:12):
The also the Peachball medal with them too.

Speaker 1 (06:15):
Yeah. Look, when the long Horns game started, we were leaving,
so I didn't get to see. We saw it was
something like ten to seven or something, and then by
the time we got back to where we had cell service,
it was thirty five to ten.

Speaker 3 (06:27):
Georgia did a really good job of applying pressure to
Arch arch Man into his credit. And this is my
vice manon I don't think he played as bad as
the stats would have to say.

Speaker 2 (06:35):
I thought a lot of his passes were on point.

Speaker 3 (06:37):
I think this was the game to me in my opinion,
I feel like the receiver didn't do a good enough
job to get open.

Speaker 1 (06:42):
Well, I think about this with Arch. I think Arch
is a good college football player. I don't think he's
a great college football player. And guess what, just because
his last name is Manning, he may never be. My
guess is is Steve Sarkisian realizes this, and whoever's next up,
or whoever is out there in the trans for a
portal may want to consider coming here and challenging for

(07:03):
the number one job next year, because I think it
could be open if there's a legitimate person that wants
to come. Now, maybe Arch gets better and coaches know
whether he's getting better or not based on film study,
and he's got another year to get bigger and stronger
and watch more film and go through a spring practice,
and we may see a very much grown up person

(07:25):
next year than we do now. And I think he
is next year. His fourth or fifth year.

Speaker 2 (07:29):
I believe for arch Man, I believe next year is four.

Speaker 1 (07:33):
So I think he's got five. I think he's got
two more years after this if he wants them. And
there's no way he's going pro right now. He's he
wouldn't even get drafted right now. So I think the
Longhorns have a future with him getting more mature, but
they also may want to see if there's somebody else.

Speaker 2 (07:50):
That Yeah, he's got two more years. He's a sophomore.

Speaker 1 (07:53):
Yeah, I think we're trying to annoyed him too young,
and so maybe he grows up and gets better with age.
Most players do that have any kind of skill set whatsoever.

Speaker 3 (08:03):
It's interesting you said, like you talked about could another
quarterback come in and compete with him, because there's projected
there's supposedly some really high quality name quarterbacks that could
be on the move, guys like Garrett Nussmyer from LSU,
especially with Brian Kelly being gone. Leonora Sellers, the South
Carolina quarterback, people speculate him a lot of people think
he's actually gonna go to Miami and be their next
air apparent quarterback. So there's gonna be some interesting names

(08:24):
in this year's transfer portal. Big name quarterbacks that could
be on the move because their draft position has moved
south since September.

Speaker 1 (08:32):
All right, there's a big win for the Spurs this
weekend without Victor wim Minyama, even though it was against
the Kings, and we'll talk about that and what's in
store for them coming up. It's four thirty two on
the ticket.

Ruthie's Table 4

Ruthie's Table 4

For more than 30 years The River Cafe in London, has been the home-from-home of artists, architects, designers, actors, collectors, writers, activists, and politicians. Michael Caine, Glenn Close, JJ Abrams, Steve McQueen, Victoria and David Beckham, and Lily Allen, are just some of the people who love to call The River Cafe home. On River Cafe Table 4, Rogers sits down with her customers—who have become friends—to talk about food memories. Table 4 explores how food impacts every aspect of our lives. “Foods is politics, food is cultural, food is how you express love, food is about your heritage, it defines who you and who you want to be,” says Rogers. Each week, Rogers invites her guest to reminisce about family suppers and first dates, what they cook, how they eat when performing, the restaurants they choose, and what food they seek when they need comfort. And to punctuate each episode of Table 4, guests such as Ralph Fiennes, Emily Blunt, and Alfonso Cuarón, read their favourite recipe from one of the best-selling River Cafe cookbooks. Table 4 itself, is situated near The River Cafe’s open kitchen, close to the bright pink wood-fired oven and next to the glossy yellow pass, where Ruthie oversees the restaurant. You are invited to take a seat at this intimate table and join the conversation.
