Speaker 1 (00:04):
NFL is living up to its standards these days. Did
anybody have the Bears in first place at this stage
of the season.
Speaker 2 (00:12):
I'm sure Jim Belushi.
Speaker 3 (00:16):
I did not.
Speaker 1 (00:17):
I did not have them making the playoffs. They are
playing good football, and they beat the Vikings yesterday. In fact,
I had another bad week, seven and seven through the
first couple games.
Speaker 2 (00:30):
Do any of the Cowboys to go about five hundred.
Speaker 3 (00:33):
Then, yeah, but so do you?
Speaker 1 (00:35):
So you were nine and seven, So we're gonna have
a two game deficit no matter what. You're gonna win
this week by two games, no matter what. The games
that shocked me yesterday I was kind of betting on are,
kind of pulling for Tampa Bay because I just wanted
them to win. But it was a really good game
until the last few minutes of the fourth quarter when
(00:57):
the Bills pulled away. I am done, absolutely, one hundred
percent done with the Atlanta Falcons. I'm going to pick
them to lose every game from now on because of
the Falcons.
Speaker 4 (01:06):
You also heard the news that both Michael Pennix and
Drake Leon are both going to miss him time.
Speaker 3 (01:10):
Yes, that's a d dumpster fire right now in Atlanta.
And then the other game.
Speaker 1 (01:18):
Let's see here Chargers late at egg when they went
to Jacksonville.
Speaker 3 (01:22):
We both had the Chargers winning that game.
Speaker 2 (01:24):
I mean, I'm not surprised the Jags won. I'm surprised
by how.
Speaker 1 (01:26):
Much the Rams won, but only because Seattle threw four
picks and somehow still was only a two point deal
in there. Chaduar played the fourth quarter against the Ravens.
Chadueur is going to start the next game because they're
out of quarterbacks. And the Chiefs and the Broncos. There
was a there was a moment and I was I
(01:48):
was watching it and then I was watching it on
my phone, and I think it was fourth and one
at the forty nine in the last couple of minutes
of the game, right, and most coaches would have punted
and said, you know what, let's play for overtime. I'm
not going to give Patrick Mahomes a short field. But
Sean Payton was like, I'm not going to give Patrick
Mahomes any field.
Speaker 4 (02:06):
Is this the one where bone Nicks was under pressure
and he got the ball at the last second the court.
Speaker 1 (02:10):
I just saw it on my phone. I didn't see
the video on my phone. I was I'd walked away
from the TV for a minute, and it said fourth
and one at the forty nine, and then the next
play was first and ten at the fifty So it
was a one yard pickup. I don't know how they
got there, but I was like, Oh, the Chiefs are
going to get the ball back. Oh, they went for
it and they made it, and so I was just
(02:30):
watching the game cast for a few seconds, and so
then they were able to get the pass down to
the fifteen yard line to kick the thirty two yard
field goal and win the game.
Speaker 3 (02:40):
And that's respect right there.
Speaker 1 (02:42):
For Patrick Mahomes, I am never going to let you
touch the ball in the last minute of a game.
Speaker 4 (02:46):
It's like it's like when you played the Packers when
they had Aaron Rodgers, you always made sure to take
away as much time possible because you can't give Aaron
Rodgers too much time because they'll finally get down the field.
Speaker 1 (02:56):
So I right now in I think it changes week
to week, but I think there are a couple of
teams in the NFC that are playing their best football
right now. One is Philadelphia after they beat the Lions yesterday.
Although they do it ugly, they're still doing it. The
other team that is in there is the Rams, and
they did it ugly because they didn't score enough after
(03:17):
getting four picks. But still the Rams are in that
situation to be a potential championship game. And I still
like Tampa Bay. I think Tampa Bay is it's hard
to win in Buffalo. It's hard for a team from
Florida to go play in thirty degree weather and win.
And they played a great game until the very end
when they just need There was a possession where they
(03:38):
took the lead, then they fell behind and then they
had to punt. And if they would have been able
to keep up with the scoring, because that was going
to be a shootout game and Buffalo wasn't going to
stop scoring, you had to be within a possession and
convert every time that you were within a possession. The
Texans got a big win. They're winning ugly right now.
They get to five hundred mark. Vandermirolll be happy about that.
(03:59):
And they they have a Thursday night game this week,
so it's a short turnaround. They go to Buffalo right
on Thursday. Yes they do, so they and it's going
to be hard for them to win in Buffalo. But
we'll talk to Mark about that tomorrow on the program.
By the way, tomorrow on the tomorrow's program, he is
out at Roken Martillo. In fact, it's a pretty busy
day tomorrow because I have basketball in the morning. It's
(04:21):
one of those kids field trip games. Oh nice, So
the kids get to take a field trip and come
watch Youtsa play basketball for an hour and a half
or two.
Speaker 2 (04:28):
You also plant the seed of any potential future fans.
Speaker 1 (04:32):
Absolutely that I would have loved to have had a
field trip.
Speaker 4 (04:35):
Game, because I know, like for a long time at
tex A and M they had a similar thing with
their men's and women's teams, like they called it. It
was like every year the women and men in the morning,
they had a home and home where the women played
at eleven am, the men played at like two, and
the student section was like filled of like elmische.
Speaker 1 (04:50):
Kids got elementary and junior high kids and they got
to like watch boils game.
Speaker 3 (04:54):
I never got those field trips.
Speaker 2 (04:55):
I never did either, but I know they had that.
Speaker 1 (04:57):
I was telling somebody here in the office today my
field trips that I remember from from high from grade
school up to about seventh grade, we didn't take any
field trips after that. Okay, but I got to go
to the to the Wonderbread place in Oklahoma and taste
the fresh bread.
Speaker 3 (05:16):
I got to wonder.
Speaker 1 (05:17):
I got to go to the zoo, which I could
have done without, but they highlighted. A highlight trip was
they wanted to teach us about recycling. So they took
us to the They took us, don't joke. They took
us and we were like fifth grade. They took us
to the Coors beer distributing place. Oh my god, showed
us how they made beer and showed us that the
cans were made of aluminum and that you needed to recycle.
Speaker 2 (05:39):
Oh that's sorry, that's funny. Like showing showed a bunch
of ten year olds a brew.
Speaker 1 (05:43):
They showed the brewing process, Oliver twist stuff, how beer
was made to ten year olds.
Speaker 2 (05:47):
That's funny.
Speaker 4 (05:48):
Hey.
Speaker 1 (05:48):
Two years before that, I played a scrimmage football game
in a in a in a prison.
Speaker 2 (05:53):
I taken Vegas kids to blackjack tables.
Speaker 3 (05:56):
Yeah well yeah, well they took a bunch.
Speaker 1 (05:58):
They took thirty eight year olds to a federal fourmrmatory
so we could play the convicts kids in football. Our
first scrimmage. The one and only year I played, I
played little league football. No, no, we got pounded. They
were really good. Uh and and but I remember we
all the parents there was like seven parents that had vans,
(06:19):
and we all piled in vans and we had to
congregate out in front of the Alreno State Alreno Federal Reformatory,
which is about forty miles west of Oklahoma City and
get prayed through metal detectors. We had our gear on
and they had plenty of guards there to protect us.
But you know, we were playing football in a prison,
(06:41):
in federal prison stuff. Yeah, it was but and the
convicts were polite to us. They were nice. I think
they let the ones out that were on good behavior
that week. I have no idea that's why we turned
those points, right. But yeah, So my field trips were
to prisons and to cours plants. And the kids tomorrow
get to go to a utsa basketball game.
Speaker 3 (07:02):
That's not fair.
Speaker 4 (07:02):
That's that's that's funny, especially the content of sending like
little ten year old Andy.
Speaker 1 (07:07):
Every Well, here's the here's the category for Jeopardy Things
you can do in the seventies that you no longer
do in the twenty in the two thousands.
Speaker 2 (07:15):
Sell cigarette to the kids, well, the cigarettes and cartoon.
Speaker 1 (07:18):
Yeah, well, going to go play football games in prison
and visiting a beer distributorship. The distributorship would be on
the highlight of those two things. I'm pretty sure.
Speaker 4 (07:27):
I thought, I think that's I think that's funny. The zoo,
I'm surprised, all like, I love the zoo as a kid.
My daughter loves the zoo. But you're not only animal
person like that, are you. No, that's not in that way,
you know.
Speaker 1 (07:36):
I would actually rather go on a Safari, except Safari's
cost like thirteen thousand dollars and that's three trips to
Scotland or two, at least two.
Speaker 3 (07:43):
So I'd rather go to Scotland and the Safari.
Speaker 2 (07:45):
Yeah, and leave the kids at home. I got you.
That's that's not a kids on our family troop.
Speaker 1 (07:50):
Yeah, No, nobody wants to go on. One of the
child wants one of the children wants to go in
to Safari. The rest of them could care less anyway,
Good weekend in the NFL. We'll talk to Mark tomorrow
and the Texans play on Thursday night. All right, Aaron
Judge has got the MVP last week. I didn't get
a chance to talk about that Cowboys are getting ready
to play and what would the college football playoff look
(08:14):
like right now
