Speaker 1 (00:00):
So I do usually do this on Friday, so I
thought I would bring it up today. Some of the
marquee matchups, some of the big games that we can
watch on Sunday afternoon, all of which I think have
some future playoff implications and also give us some really
good stuff to watch this weekend. And I'm going to
start with Tampa Bay at Buffalo.

Speaker 2 (00:22):
Now.

Speaker 1 (00:22):
I picked in our contest with Shane the other day.
I picked Tampa Bay because I'm a Baker Mayfield apologist,
among other things. But I just think that it's time
for him to win one in a place that he
shouldn't win. And anytime a team from the South travels
to the North and the weather's cold, I mean, if
it was two Attagli of oh, I wouldn't even think
he would show up. But at least Baker will go

(00:43):
out there and play. I think the Bills are in
a situation right now where they can be gone a
little bit, and I'm kind of hoping that's the case.

Speaker 2 (00:51):
So I win this game.

Speaker 1 (00:52):
But I like this matchup because no one's picking Tampa
Bay to have a chance in a cooler climate, and
so to me, this is an opportunity for Baker to
really show what that team's about. Because I think even
if Tampa wins its division, uh and and they and
they have they host a playoff game when they get
to the second round and they have to go north,

(01:14):
and they're likely going to have to go Philadelphia and
maybe or maybe they go I guess they'd have to
go Philadelphia or Chicago, Minnesota, Detroit, Green Bay, something like that.

Speaker 2 (01:27):
If they have to go in that direction.

Speaker 1 (01:29):
I would like to make sure that they can have
some confidence, Hey, we did this earlier in the season.

Speaker 2 (01:34):
That's going to be to me something.

Speaker 1 (01:37):
That where their where their season could end if they
have issues playing in bad weather.

Speaker 3 (01:42):
Yeah, depending on how the rest of the NFC plays out,
I think there's going to be a lot of teams
like the Bucks that are hoping they get the pathway
that leads through Detroit and not Philly getting to play in.

Speaker 2 (01:56):
The Dome up there.

Speaker 3 (01:57):
This game is it was pretty shocking whenever I was
writing it up for the for my notes, the Bills
are five and a half point favorites in this game,
coming off that embarrassing loss to Miami. That one that
seemed like a pretty big number because.

Speaker 2 (02:12):
I kind of like you.

Speaker 3 (02:13):
I am leaning more towards the Bucks winning this heads up.

Speaker 1 (02:18):
Well, to me, if the Bucks had beaten My are
the Bills had beaten Miami. I would even think this
would be a better chance for Tampa to win, because
they wouldn't be mad when this is the area where
I have some concern is because when teams that are
supposed to win games, and Miami is awful and Tampa's
and Buffalo is supposed to win this division this year,

(02:39):
So are they gonna play in an upset fashion to
where their hair's on fire a little bit? And Tampa
has no chance? And I can certainly see that happening.
But maybe it's two in a row if they don't
have all their ducks lined up, because they're gonna have
to play well. Tampa's gonna come out and try to
get on this game early and see if they can
win this game.

Speaker 3 (02:58):
Yeah, And Tampa is, you know, four and one on
the road this year, so they have shown that they
can take the trip on the road and come home
with the win.

Speaker 1 (03:09):
When the season began, I kind of had Detroit penciled
in as the NFC Nord champion, and then when green
Bay traded for Mike Parsons I changed to Green Bay
and I had Detroit as a wildcard. I'm not surprised
that Minnesota has struggled because Minnesota can't figure out the quarterback.
Is JJ McCarthy going to play and when he does play,
is he going to be any good? And if they're

(03:30):
going to be good in the future with all the
other talent they have on that team, they've got to
figure out the quarterback situation because it just seems like
they're not sure what they want to do there. I'm
not sold that JJ McCarthy's the guy, but they're going
to have to make a decision is he the guy
or is he not the guy?

Speaker 2 (03:45):
And let's see what we can go from there.

Speaker 1 (03:47):
The Bears with Caleb Williams, this is an opportunity for
Caleb to get a little bit closer to playoff contention.
I still think the Bears are the fourth best team
in that division, but that doesn't mean they can't win
this game and start to make the rest of that
division and worry a little bit.

Speaker 3 (04:02):
Yeah, you know, I just can't get over if you're
a Vikings fan, as you sit there and see the
same team you had last year that won fourteen games,
and you decided to move on from Sam Donald. And
then you look at the standings and right now the
Seahawks are tied for the best record in the conference
with Sam Darnald, and you're sitting there trying to decide

(04:24):
if the former first round quarterback that you pushed all
your chips into the middle with, if he's actually even
going to be the guy two or three years from now.
The Bears are the way more interesting team because at
right now the Bears are above the Packers in the division,
they only trail the Lions, and they're the sixth seed

(04:46):
if the playoffs started today, right and looking at the
way the particularly the offense has developed over the year,
with Ben Johnson showing more and more of what got
him that job, of what made him so great as
the Lions offensive coordinator Caleb Williams in the first three quarter, well,
the Bears offense in general first three quarters of games

(05:08):
is pretty average. They're like sixteenth to eighteenth in offensive
efficiency rating, but in the fourth quarter they're top ten.
I think they're seventh right now, showing that you know
there is some growth amongst the offensive side of the ball.
When they are in close games, giving them a chance
to pull some of these out.

Speaker 2 (05:27):
I mean, they're six and three.

Speaker 3 (05:28):
I don't think anybody except Bears fans had that on
their predictions at the beginning of the year.

Speaker 1 (05:34):
All Right, the Packers are taking on the Giants. The
Giants have a new coach this week, with Brian Dayball
being fired. They're gonna play hard for the new guy.
The Packers are hot and cold, and that's my concern
with Dunnelly their defense. But with Jordan Love, sometimes he's great,
sometimes he's not. I'm just curious as to watch team's
gonna show up knowing that the Giants are gonna play

(05:56):
hard for the new guy, and the new guy is
gonna coach hard because he wants to job at the
end of the season. Now, I don't think they're going
to hire him. I think they're going to go for
some sizzle coach. But my guess is is if he
goes three and one in the last four games of
the season and they have a pretty weak schedule at
the end of the year, he's at least going to
get an interview and get some consideration. And apparently he's
a really nice guy that the New York media likes.

(06:18):
So they're going to probably go on all the talk
shows and say, hey, you should hire this guy.

Speaker 3 (06:22):
Yeah, I did you see who the betting favorite is? Now,
I know you were talking Belichick. So that was early
in the week. Now we have a new uh you know,
all of these market predictors that were we actually run
some advertisement for here, they don't. They haven't gotten a
lot of things wrong lately. And the name that is

(06:42):
emerging at the top of the list is Mike McCarthy,
which I thought would be a really actually really solid
higher for New York with young Jackson Dart to be absolutely,
I don't. I'm not so sure I buy. And you're
going to get some kind of a you know, new
coach bump from them, But I just don't think they

(07:02):
have the personnel with all the injuries.

Speaker 1 (07:05):
Especially with Scataboo out, and they Jamis Winston's going to
play quarterback this weekend.

Speaker 2 (07:10):
I do see.

Speaker 3 (07:10):
I still wish a team that was actually playing for
something had traded for Jamis at the deadline. I want
to see Jamis in moments that matter.

Speaker 1 (07:19):
Here's a Adam Schefterbaum right now, Brock party is going
to start for San Francisco.

Speaker 2 (07:24):
This week against the Cardinals.

Speaker 3 (07:25):
Well, that potentially changes how the rest of the NFC
West plays out.

Speaker 1 (07:30):
Yes, we'll see. I still can't believe the forty nine
ers are a playoff team. I'm not sure they're still
gonna they're not. Right now, they're not a I think
they are seven and seven and eleven team, seven and
ten team somewhere around in there.

Speaker 2 (07:42):
But we'll see.

Speaker 1 (07:43):
They're gonna put brought party back in the lineup, all right.
The Chiefs and the Broncos to me is as much
must see TV until it's not. And this is the
time of the year where Patrick Mahomes starts to rally
the troops. The Broncos are a good young team, but
they better not really rely on the fact that they're
a good young team playing at home, because these are
games Patrick Mahomes usually figures out a way to win,

(08:04):
and they win them ugly, but they still win them.
And that's why I pick the Chiefs to go into
Denver and get this win.

Speaker 3 (08:11):
Yeah, this has been This has been one of the
more odd Patrick Mahomes led Chief seasons because you know,
right now, sitting on the outside of a playoff spot
but tied with Jacksonville record wise, So I think the
Chiefs are still the betting favorite to win the Super
Bowl right now.

Speaker 2 (08:28):
And if the playoffs started, some degenerate gamblers out there.

Speaker 3 (08:32):
Well that the power of Pat Mahomes. The interesting thing
about this game to me is Denver has the most
i would say, the most successful defense in terms of
bringing pressure. They're potentially going to set the sack record.
And if you get that home crowd up there behind

(08:52):
the defense and you're having Kansas City play behind the
chains a little bit, this is a game where I
could see Denver winning, especially considering the Chiefs are only
one in three on the road this year and the
Broncos are undefeated at home.

Speaker 1 (09:06):
And the final Marquee matchup game is the Seahawks and
the Rams, and this should be a great game too.
I like the Rams, I like Sean McVay, and this
game is in Los Angeles, so that's why I picked
the Rams. The Seahawks are having a phenomenal year. They've
won some big time road games. I think we're gonna
have a fourth quarter score that's going to determine this,
or a fourth quarter mistake, and we'll see what happens.

(09:29):
But I really like the Rams. I like Sean McVay.
I think I saw a Matt Stafford line where he's
had twenty two touchdowns and two picks.

Speaker 2 (09:37):
Is that right, that's correct? Yeah.

Speaker 3 (09:38):
And you know, no team has shot up the shot
up the prediction boards more than the Rams and Stafford.
I mean, Stafford is on the way to potentially being
you know, first or second in MVP voting at.

Speaker 2 (09:53):
The end of the year.

Speaker 3 (09:53):
And we've seen we've seen this RAMS team that pretty
much has the same infrastructure, has the same philosophy, has
the same you know, outside of a few pieces that
have left from the Super Bowl year, it's the They
have the Super Bowl pristige. They know what it takes
to win the big One, and I think you're starting

(10:16):
to see them kind of mold into that form that
got them there the first time.

Speaker 1 (10:20):
Well, Sean mcvayh is one of the top five coaches
in the league, and he's a really good play caller.
And when you put those two factors together, he brings
the energy and I think that's something that is solid
for them. All Right, we've got some baseball news to
get to Raleigh or Judge, there's Paul Skeens talk going
to New York. He denies it, but I've got an

(10:41):
idea where it's coming from, and I'll even get to
at some point. I'm going to get to the NBA
Cup and the Emeritus Cup that we're in the midst
of as well. It's a five eleven. It's the indie
everage show on the ticket.

Ruthie's Table 4

Ruthie's Table 4

For more than 30 years The River Cafe in London, has been the home-from-home of artists, architects, designers, actors, collectors, writers, activists, and politicians. Michael Caine, Glenn Close, JJ Abrams, Steve McQueen, Victoria and David Beckham, and Lily Allen, are just some of the people who love to call The River Cafe home. On River Cafe Table 4, Rogers sits down with her customers—who have become friends—to talk about food memories. Table 4 explores how food impacts every aspect of our lives. “Foods is politics, food is cultural, food is how you express love, food is about your heritage, it defines who you and who you want to be,” says Rogers. Each week, Rogers invites her guest to reminisce about family suppers and first dates, what they cook, how they eat when performing, the restaurants they choose, and what food they seek when they need comfort. And to punctuate each episode of Table 4, guests such as Ralph Fiennes, Emily Blunt, and Alfonso Cuarón, read their favourite recipe from one of the best-selling River Cafe cookbooks. Table 4 itself, is situated near The River Cafe’s open kitchen, close to the bright pink wood-fired oven and next to the glossy yellow pass, where Ruthie oversees the restaurant. You are invited to take a seat at this intimate table and join the conversation.
