Speaker 1 (00:00):
The Saints and the Falcons back in the day, I
guess at a time that was a rivalry and may
it still be. And apparently Dan Byer was wearing a
Falcons uniform or Falcons jersey the day that they were playing,
and there were some Saints fans I guess in California
that were questioning why he was trying to one up

(00:21):
them because he was wearing that. I don't care about
the rivalry. To me, the Saints and the Falcons were
just another boring NFC South game on a typical Sunday
twice a year. But I've picked the Falcons a lot
this year and they've let me down. And then when
I don't pick them, they miraculously figure out a way
to win a game. But my favorite Atlanta Falcon story

(00:44):
goes back to a twenty and sixteen when I went
to Scotland on a golf vacation and there's a golf
course in the East Lothian area known as North Barrick,
and North Barrick is one of the top golf courses
in Scotland. It's rated as one of the best, and

(01:04):
Arthur Blank, the owner of the Atlanta Falcons, happens to
be a member there. So he has a house. I
think it's either on the eighth or ninth holl I
think it's the eighth holl or seventh hole, and it's
basically about four hundred yard long lot. It borders the
golf course and if you get too close to the
left side of the fairway rough borderline of the golf course,

(01:29):
you're going to run into his house and you can
kind of it's offset and there's a huge backyard. It's
like one of these European Victorian mansions, basically from one
end of the other. And so all the caddies wear
Atlanta Falcons shirts and Atlanta Falcons hats because he brings
them gear when he comes into the end of the

(01:52):
North Barrick area on his summer vacation. So Atlanta Falcons fans,
if you wondered where your own decides to vacation in
the summer. He's got his own mansion on the seventh
and eighth holes at North Berrick in Scotland, and he
makes sure that all the staff has Falcons geared to
support him.

Speaker 2 (02:11):
I mean, if you're gonna the only thing I can
give you on a Falcon Saints rivalry is I believe
they came into the league in the same year or
maybe one year right after each other, so and there
weren't a whole lot of Southern teams. I think the
only other one was Dallas. Maybe you might have some

(02:34):
level of rivalry there that formed naturally, but they I
would name ten other rivalry games before I get to Falcons.

Speaker 1 (02:43):
I don't think that you can have a rivalry game
in the league unless it's divisional, because you're gonna play
each other twice. So the Cowboys forty nine ers never
played each other twice unless it was a playoff situation.
So I thought that at the window, I would go Washington,
New York, and Philadelphia with the Cowboys and with one another,
all have great rival and then Kansas City and Oakland
more than in Kansas City and Denver or Kansas City

(03:05):
and the Raiders no matter what city they were in.
And then you probably have the one rivalry that's blossomed
now that the Rams are back in La is ram Sehawks,
and that's going to be a matchup this weekend.

Speaker 2 (03:16):
Yeah, that's a great That's arguably the game of the week.
I h yeah, I think there's I would even say
like this new look Cleveland Browns versus the Ravens, who
I think they're playing this week. I think that is
more of a rivalry, or I think of it as
more of a rivalry than I do Falcon Saints, because
at least then it's the you know, the new era

(03:39):
Browns that had their teams stolen from them that ended
up getting one back.

Speaker 1 (03:44):
But the Browns have been so bad and the Ravens
have been so good that how could that actually be
a right? If it's a rivalry, the other team's got
to win once in a while.

Speaker 2 (03:52):
Yeah, that doesn't really set up for an entertaining rivalry,
but maybe a rivalry nonetheless.

Speaker 1 (03:57):
I mean, I can I can tell you that I
don't like a certain program, but if you beat them
every time you play them, then it's not really a rivalry.
See that's what's happened with UTSA and Texas State and football.
Texas State's won the last two matchups. It's now a
real rivalry. It wasn't that it wasn't a little bit
of a rivalry, but they were six and to start

(04:19):
o UTSA was and now they want Texas State's won
the last two

Ruthie's Table 4

Ruthie's Table 4

For more than 30 years The River Cafe in London, has been the home-from-home of artists, architects, designers, actors, collectors, writers, activists, and politicians. Michael Caine, Glenn Close, JJ Abrams, Steve McQueen, Victoria and David Beckham, and Lily Allen, are just some of the people who love to call The River Cafe home. On River Cafe Table 4, Rogers sits down with her customers—who have become friends—to talk about food memories. Table 4 explores how food impacts every aspect of our lives. “Foods is politics, food is cultural, food is how you express love, food is about your heritage, it defines who you and who you want to be,” says Rogers. Each week, Rogers invites her guest to reminisce about family suppers and first dates, what they cook, how they eat when performing, the restaurants they choose, and what food they seek when they need comfort. And to punctuate each episode of Table 4, guests such as Ralph Fiennes, Emily Blunt, and Alfonso Cuarón, read their favourite recipe from one of the best-selling River Cafe cookbooks. Table 4 itself, is situated near The River Cafe’s open kitchen, close to the bright pink wood-fired oven and next to the glossy yellow pass, where Ruthie oversees the restaurant. You are invited to take a seat at this intimate table and join the conversation.
