Speaker 2 (00:31):
It's already Tuesday.

Speaker 1 (00:33):
It's time to talk and get all the sports stuff
going in and we welcome you to the program. We
have fixed a lot of bugs over the last three
days as we transition to this new technology that we
have to bring you the radio station clear and all
the folks.

Speaker 2 (00:48):
That have been working on it thank you.

Speaker 1 (00:50):
You can now give yourselves high fives because it actually
works the correct way. All right, let's get into all
the topics of the day today, and a lot of
them are audio disseminators or ty suchik and of course
the producer of this program, Michael Bartlett, will hear from
him as soon as he gets situated here in a second.
But I've got a lot of things to get to
today on the eve of Game three of the NBA Finals,

(01:14):
also two days away from the start of the US
Open Golf Championship, and another golf story to share with
you that I think shows you the power.

Speaker 2 (01:22):
It's actually two golf stories.

Speaker 1 (01:25):
One that shows you how a king can rule and
another one house someone who thinks they're a king can rule.
We'll explain all of that coming up to you in
just a little bit. We have a story about Victor
wibbin Yama in a Shalen I think that's how you
pronounce it, Shaleen temple in China, and he's looking into
chan meditation. Listen, I don't care what he does, as

(01:48):
long as in October he can give you twenty five
and twelve every night. There's whatever it takes. We'll talk
about this, and I've got a lot of thoughts on this.

Speaker 2 (01:58):
They're positive.

Speaker 1 (01:59):
I don't think this is a joking manner, because it
may be interesting and a little bit humorous at times,
but this is something that a lot of people take
very seriously. We always joke about the Aaron Rodgers retreats
into darkness and things like that.

Speaker 2 (02:12):
But we're going to talk about wimb.

Speaker 1 (02:14):
In China and being a part of a ten day
trip to study Chan meditation over in China.

Speaker 2 (02:23):
I had this thought last night.

Speaker 1 (02:26):
What if the Spurs do nothing between now and the
start of the season as far as their roster. What
if they just drafted two and fourteen, or maybe make
a trade or two or so that they get the
one pick they want and they can move around the
two and the fourteenth If they want Dylan Harper, they
can have Dylan Harper.

Speaker 2 (02:42):
You know, we'll see how all that works out.

Speaker 1 (02:44):
But what if they are not a part of the
Yannis or Whim or Durant sweepstakes. And there's rumors right
now that Yannis is deciding to stay in Milwaukee. I
don't think that's good for Milwaukee, and I don't think
it's good for Yawn. It's the reason it's not good
for Milwaukee is they don't have anybody else on the
roster to help him out. And they can't go get
anybody else because Damian Lillard isn't going to be able

(03:05):
to play for a while and he soaks up just
as much money as as Janis does. You got two
fifty million dollar plus players on the roster, and it's
going to be really difficult for them to get players
that are going to actually be able to perform at
the optimum level that you need. So I think from
a team standpoint, there's just no way that Milwaukee is

(03:26):
going to have the success that Giannie is going to
want them to have. They may not even be a
playoff team next year the way things are going with
that roster. And then on the other side of the equation,
the only way that Milwaukee can get good in a
hurry is to get rid of that contract with expiring
contracts and also getting multiple draft picks, and so I

(03:48):
think Milwaukee wants to make sure that he gets traded,
Whereas it's probably more important from a Janas standpoint that
maybe he wants to stay because he likes it there.
From my perspective, I think it's time for them to
part ways. Durant to San Antonio is still in the
in the cards, we'll get into all of that. Michael Bartlett,
the producer of this show, is in the saddle right now.

(04:10):
What do you think about Wimby going to China for
a little shale in retreat.

Speaker 2 (04:13):
I saw that it looks weird.

Speaker 3 (04:16):
I have the same the same shock factor when I
saw Derek White shaved his head and went bald.

Speaker 2 (04:21):
Yeah, and I saw the video, I'm like, this is
Wemby shaving his head? Is that part of the deal.

Speaker 1 (04:25):
Yeah, you didn't see the video of him, but in
I just saw I just saw the story.

Speaker 3 (04:28):
Oh yeah, no, there's there's a video of somebody in
one of the buses going by the monks that are
I guess out for their run bald head. And I'm like, Wimby,
are we already having a midlife crisis?

Speaker 2 (04:40):
Like you're not.

Speaker 1 (04:41):
I'm gonna talk I'm gonna talk more in depth about
this in about an hour or so.

Speaker 2 (04:44):
But here's my thought on this.

Speaker 1 (04:47):
If you can afford to go on vacation anywhere in
the world that you want to are multiple.

Speaker 2 (04:53):
Vacations a year, you should do it.

Speaker 1 (04:55):
And if you're an NBA player in the off season,
you should be doing things to better yourself for the
next season. And if he thinks this is gonna better
himself spiritually, go for it. I'm all in on that.
So we'll talk more about that coming up in a
little bit. I've got a couple of questions to ask
out here, why do we think that Shay gil, Just

(05:16):
Alexander and Tyrese Haliburton are boring? I'm hearing more people
say this is Spurs two point zero. It was one
thing when the Spurs were in the finals, but at
least it was some excitement on the other team. Now
you've got guys two teams that played the same way.
It's boring basketball. I don't think it's boring basketball at all,
but I think that people that understand basketball think it's

(05:37):
pretty exhilarating. I think that people are watching the NBA
for drama, are not getting the drama that they normally
get in an NBA finals.

Speaker 2 (05:48):
Yeah, I guess.

Speaker 3 (05:51):
Because they're not in the LA markets, they're not in
the Boston markets, the Miami markets. That it's just well,
it's Oklahoma City, it's it's Indiana. And besides, you know
Reggie Miller, who's another great pacer that you could name
or who's a Yeah, that's the only thing I can

(06:12):
think of. But like it, Like I've told you, it's
great basketball to watch.

Speaker 2 (06:17):
Yeah, especially Game one.

Speaker 1 (06:18):
I thought Game two got out of hand pretty quickly
and Indiana kind of mailed it in the rest of
the way. But I thought Game one was a compelling
basketball game, and I kept saying, Olahomasy, he's got to
score more Alamacy's got to get one or two more baskets.

Speaker 2 (06:30):
And they never did down the stretch. All right.

Speaker 1 (06:33):
Our former colleague on this radio station, Walter Passed Decreta,
texted me today, oh boy, And I was not where
I could text.

Speaker 2 (06:42):
Him very often.

Speaker 1 (06:43):
I gave him a few replies, and I decided I'd
save the rest for now. I don't know if he's
listing or not. Don't know if he is, don't necessarily care,
but if he.

Speaker 2 (06:50):
Is, he is.

Speaker 1 (06:51):
But he brought up something that I thought was interesting,
and I'm going to talk about it, and I'm going
to tell you why I think that he's partially right,
martially wrong. And here is some of the assumption that
schools that have no chance, no legitimate chance to win
championships in football, should vest their money in their other

(07:12):
sports where they have better chances to.

Speaker 2 (07:14):
Win national championships.

Speaker 1 (07:16):
For example, Texas Tech and softball, and Texas Tech in
other sports probably has a better chance of winning a
championship than they do in football. And UTSA for example,
just came off of a great baseball season, and doctor
Lisa compos was on with us last week and said,
in reality, baseball is the sport that we have the

(07:37):
best chance of competing at the national level because it's baseball.
And we're going to get into more of this in
a little bit, but here's the reason why football can
never be neglected. It doesn't matter whether UTSA, It doesn't
matter if you're Texas Tech. It doesn't matter if you're
Texas it doesn't matter what school you are. There is

(07:57):
no school unless you are just frivolously spending money in
the wrong place where football doesn't generate the most money.

Speaker 2 (08:06):
At Duke in North.

Speaker 1 (08:06):
Carolina, they make more money on football than they do
on basketball. They may spend more, but they create more revenue,
and the revenue for football will always trump baseball. Texas
Tech could win a softball national championship for the next
hundred years and they're still not going to make as
much money for a softball program or a baseball program

(08:28):
that they will for the football team six saturdays a year,
and so are accounting the road games the TV money
that comes from that as well. Thirteen But anyway, we'll
get into more of that, But I thought that was
something that a lot of people are looking at. I
do think that there's opportunities for UTSA and for other
mid majors to win at the national level in a
lot of sports besides football.

Speaker 3 (08:49):
But you can never ever neglect football, of course, and
especially here in Texas. But you know, I do think
that when it obviously for football, we see we see
that even in the NFL, the worst teams, you know,
just say the the Browns, sorry Tye Ties Browns and

(09:12):
the New York Giants that had probably a combined four
wins all season, they're still going to pull you know,
at least what fifteen to twenty million to watch. So
it's that's why football is still.

Speaker 2 (09:26):
Key the NFL. Football is always.

Speaker 1 (09:28):
Going to be funded by TV networks, and obviously college
football is as well. But just to think of the
fact that you put fifty sixty thousand people in a
stadium six times a year, the revenue that comes from that.
Your baseball stadium might hold twenty five hundred even if
you fill it up every game, You're charging way less
for the tickets than you are for football. Your exposure

(09:49):
to TV is way less. Your revenue streams are way less.
Everything is based off of football. Football is going to
be king at every school, all one hundred and thirty
four mid major hundred and thirty four Division one FBS teams.
All right, we've got tea times for the US Open.
I've got a story about the founding fathers of the
of the I told you about the one yesterday about

(10:11):
Henry Founds and his son W. C.

Speaker 2 (10:13):
Founds. Aaron Rodgers apparently got married last week.

Speaker 1 (10:16):
Nobody seemed to know or care, but apparently somebody loves
him and he's gonna He's now married and says that
he made this decision with his soul, that he's his
soul told him to go to Pittsburgh and a bunch
of Iahwasca I'm sure as well.

Speaker 2 (10:31):
And thirteen million dollars that did their dollars, yes, and
refusing to give up the game when you know you're washed.
I don't know that he's washed.

Speaker 3 (10:41):
Is he better than Mason Rudolph?

Speaker 2 (10:44):
He says yes.

Speaker 3 (10:46):
I would say maybe by like five percent. It's not
much better.

Speaker 1 (10:51):
Well, I don't think Pittsburgh's going to be that far
off if they if they don't, if he got hurt
and Mason had to play.

Speaker 2 (10:57):
At least Mason can move well.

Speaker 1 (10:59):
The problem that Pittsburgh has is still the same thing
I said yesterday. They don't have a running back and
they need one desperately, and they need to be on
the phone to somebody to trade for one. So we'll
get into all of those subjects coming up. We've got
a special guest in the six o'clock hour, so to
help you get the message out that we're going to
try to make sure we keep all the kids fed
with the summer snacks program this summer. And we'll talk

(11:21):
about the Spurs in the next segment, and do they
have to make a move in order to move up
in the standings in the NBA? They won thirty four
games last year. If they just stand pat with their
current roster and add two draft picks, is that enough
to get them to say fifty or do they need
somebody like Durant.

Speaker 2 (11:38):
We'll talk about that next. It's the Indie Everage Show
on the TIC
