Speaker 1 (00:03):
Wrapping up our golf talk from the previous segment, We're
going to talk some SEC football coming up in the
six o'clock hour, also the NCAA house settlement, and some
Cowboys discussion. But I saw this Rory was asked. Roy
McElroy was asked during the press conference, does he have
any goals left after winning the Masters and winning the

(00:25):
Grand Slam? And he said, you know, I really haven't
thought about what the next goal is. And since twenty
fourteen he was trying to win a major and get
that monkey off his back, and the Masters was the
one that he was supposed to win multiple times and didn't.
And now he finally wins the Masters and gets the

(00:47):
Grand Slam.

Speaker 2 (00:48):
What's next for him?

Speaker 1 (00:50):
And I think that's something that he's going to have
to decide on his own as to what that's going
to be. I think he's heavily invested in promoting golf
through the TGL league that he's doing with Tiger in
the in the winter time and in the early part
of the spring with all the new teams in that
league expanding next year, and those are Monday Tuesday events
for the most part, so they don't necessarily take up

(01:10):
any time any of his golf time.

Speaker 2 (01:12):
And you're coming around to it a little bit.

Speaker 1 (01:14):
I think it's fine as long as it's a Monday
Tuesday event.

Speaker 2 (01:17):
The problem. I'd be fine with live if it was
a Monday Tuesday event. No, you wouldn't. You're not gonna
You're not going yourself down. I'm still not going to watch,
But I would be okay.

Speaker 1 (01:27):
With it because because what you're doing is is you're fracturing.
It would be playing at a time when PGA Tour
events are not being played.

Speaker 2 (01:36):
All right, nobody's watching live anyways.

Speaker 1 (01:38):
Three hundred thousand people is not in anything, and in
that comparison, uh so. But I do think Rory's got
to figure out for himself what his next set of
goals is going to be. And and I would hate
for this year to be highlighted by uh him winning
the highest the highest of highs, for him not to
be able to still play great golf off going forward

(02:00):
in the future. Now we obviously hit the PGA, he
got upset with a number of things. He as driver
had been taken out of play because it was non
conforming and he was trying to adjust to a new
one on the fly. He was upset that Scottie Scheffler's
driver went out of play and no one said anything
about it. Those are supposed to be confidential, and everybody's

(02:21):
driver at some point in time is going to go
out of regulation. It's going to be non conforming. If
you hit a golf club long enough. I guarantee you
there's amateur players out there that bought a new club
a year ago, and even their club is likely nonconforming
now because it's been it too many times.

Speaker 2 (02:37):
Golf clubs wear out.

Speaker 1 (02:39):
Golf club manufactures design clubs for them to wear out,
so you'll go buy a new one every millennial and
not just keep the same one in your bag since
nineteen eighty five. And so that's and he got upset
because people think, oh, well, he won the.

Speaker 2 (02:53):
Masters because he had an illegal driver.

Speaker 1 (02:55):
It wasn't tested before the Master, so it wasn't illegal,
and so he was adjusting to that. And at at
this tournament he's going to have to keep the ball
in play and for it to be in the fair
way more often than not. I think the one thing
he's going to hang his hat on is the fact
that next month the Open Championship is in Ireland at
Royal Port Rush, and it was it's about a forty

(03:17):
minute drive from where he grew up in Hollywood, So
that's a place where I think he's gonna put a
lot of effort into. He tried in twenty nineteen. Shane
Lowry ended up winning in twenty nineteen. But I do
hope Rory does find some goals because he's not the needle,
but he is certainly one of the movers of the
needle in professional golf. And this is the difference between

(03:39):
Tiger and his heyday and Scottie right now is at
least with Tiger, is you know, hey, Tiger, what's the next.

Speaker 2 (03:46):
Thing you're trying to do? Win? Win? You know Al Davis,
He's just every tournament was I need to go win?

Speaker 1 (03:53):
Yeah, And I think I think Rory's got that similar mindset.
But when you have such a major ex sale like
roy had at the Masters, it's hard to figure out
how to climb back up on top of the mountain.
Let's talk SEC football as we're coming up on eleven
weeks away from the season starting. That's next, it's the
Indian average show on the ticket
