(00:02):
forget bad Omens tickets all week long. We stop being
giving him away today, So be listening for your chance
to win. You're gonna need that free iHeart app to
make it all happen. Coming up here in about fifteen minutes.
Let's talk about them Barrel Hoggs and Compel. Right now,
it's time for part two of Around the Sports.

Speaker 2 (00:21):
Yeah, so last night on the Manning Cast on ESPN
two they had a few guests like Guy Fierti and
George W. Bush. So I went after the game and
checked this out just to see how it went down
with George W. Bush, just to see if he did
the Eli and Payton what he did to Ben that
one time. Now, here's what he did to Ben that

(00:42):
one time. In case you didn't know, Hey, we've got
to ask you about this as well.

Speaker 3 (00:46):
We were tipped off that you might have a good
story in this regard back when you were, you know,
an owner of the Texas Rangers. He took lessons to
learn how to speak Spanish to interact with the Wan
Gonzalez and pud Rodriguez.

Speaker 2 (00:58):
Is that accurate? No, No, man, A little legend. That's
a shut block. All right. So here's how I get
started with the uh the Manning. I have four clips
I want to play for.

Speaker 4 (01:11):
You, mister President. When presidents have important addresses to the nations,
like the State of the Union, they often prepare for weeks,
if not months. And my question is how long have you.

Speaker 2 (01:21):
Been preparing for this? Manning cast appearance map ten minutes perfect.
That's okay, same energy, same energy. Well, awkward laughter. Two,
there's a bit of a delay. Eli Peyton kind of
never handled that very well.

Speaker 1 (01:41):
Which Peyton or which Manning was reading that question off
the teleprompter?

Speaker 2 (01:45):
That was Eli, but both of them read off a
note card. And that's when the Manning cast got bad.
John's awesome. They just talked. That was so stilted sounding, dude.
For the last three years, ever since year one, they
changed the format to we have a guest and now
we're going to read pre program questions and it's the
most robotic thing. It's not fun anymore. But yeah, that

(02:06):
sound was the silence. Manning past appearance map ten minutes.

Speaker 5 (02:16):
Perfect.

Speaker 2 (02:16):
That's awkwards. That is explosive. Now the President, George Bush
is seventy nine year old, man. Okay, and he was,
you know, the leader of the free world for a while,
so he's probably gonna do a little ball busting, right.

Speaker 1 (02:30):
I'm so pleased to see your face is not on
a TV commercial.

Speaker 5 (02:35):
It's it's there's a lot of them out there, and
there's a few mole on the way. I was just
gonna apologize in advance. I filmed a couple of last weeks,
so I'm just gonna warn you.

Speaker 2 (02:47):
It's unbelievable, man. It is.

Speaker 1 (02:51):
If you had told me when w was in office
that I would love him later in life, there's no
way I would have believed it. And man, I love
that guy, Manny.

Speaker 6 (03:02):
Over the years, I've been able to be friends with
a couple of guys that work in the Secret Service,
and what they always say about him is they say,
all the agents that work with him love him. No
matter what they personally feel about politics, they love the guy.

Speaker 2 (03:16):
Yeah, just Texas Grandpa energy really Yeah? Okay, So peytn
old school conservative man. Peyton's got a little question here.
We still haven't fully got matumboed yet. You know, ten
minutes is a little joke, but we still haven't got
the Ben Mtumbo moment. Does Peyton Manning get it?

Speaker 5 (03:32):
Mister President, Eli and I followed our father into the
family business, becoming quarterbacks. You follow your father into the
family business too, becoming the most powerful person in the world.
I'm not going to say which is more impressive, But
mister President, when you were growing up, did you think
you would go into public service?

Speaker 1 (03:50):
Now, I'd have behaved to have a lot better than college.

Speaker 2 (04:01):
He got though. Man, you're on Peyton Manning's level. That's great.

Speaker 5 (04:04):
Love and you were growing up, But you think you
would go into public service?

Speaker 2 (04:09):
No, man would stop right there. It would have been
just like me.

Speaker 1 (04:16):
Can I ask a question? Why do they need the
field sound to be that hot?

Speaker 2 (04:21):
Dude? I have so many ESPN production questions, So don't.

Speaker 3 (04:25):
Most of the stuff we play, all the bad music
is so loud?

Speaker 1 (04:28):
Like what I mean, do they really need a crowd
mic that crank? I'm sitting here realizing that I haven't
watched the Manning cast since they first started it, so
I wasn't aware of all this stuff.

Speaker 2 (04:40):
That's gone on. It's crazy, dude, I mean, is it
still doing well? I don't know. They're on ESPN two
and they're just there, like to me, it didn't make
a lot of sense to put them up against like
Troy and Joe if you're gonna give Troy and Joe
all that money, Like, it's kind of weird that you
like would do that.

Speaker 6 (04:56):
But I wonder what they're paying the Mannings for them
to even take the time to do It's I got to.

Speaker 2 (05:00):
Be a lot and it's out there like it's Peyton
does his and his garage and Eli's at home like
it's old. If they haven't even figured out how to
make everyone's mic sound good on zoom? Did Bill Murray
was on like a month ago and you couldn't even
hear him? It's very strange. The delay is always really
bad too. That's why I stopped watching It's it's just
so it's more awkward because you're sitting there waiting for

(05:22):
them to actually hear the question and the henryspawn.

Speaker 1 (05:25):
To Ben's point, they've got to be I mean, those dudes,
they're not gonna do something just for the fun of it.
They're showing out huge cash, so they must be selling
big spot revenue for that.

Speaker 2 (05:34):
So Peyton got swatted though, Okay, as we just heard,
now what about Eli? Long clunky question.

Speaker 4 (05:44):
Mister President, I know you mentioned earlier that Peyton's in
so many commercials. I'm sure you've seen the nationwide commercials
where my brother is so much more as Peyton Manning.
And I also know that you've got and so how
is the painting going? And would you ever want me
to maybe sit for a portrait?

Speaker 1 (06:05):
Really?

Speaker 2 (06:11):
God, he's amazing.

Speaker 4 (06:13):
Take out the joke, would you ever want me to
maybe sit for a portrait?

Speaker 1 (06:19):
Not?

Speaker 2 (06:19):
Really? I love this guy? Can you follow it up
with anything or just end up not? Really? Hey, George,
could you say a little more? We're out of note
cards with questions on him?

Speaker 1 (06:33):
Did you guys enjoy Jim Gray in the booth with
Tom Brady last night?

Speaker 6 (06:37):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (06:37):
How about that? About that?

Speaker 6 (06:39):
Best friends?

Speaker 2 (06:41):
All right? There you have it. There it is around
the sports.

Speaker 6 (06:44):
Coming up next in the wildlife news, does cop Hell
have a feral hog problem? We'll discuss next

Ruthie's Table 4

Ruthie's Table 4

For more than 30 years The River Cafe in London, has been the home-from-home of artists, architects, designers, actors, collectors, writers, activists, and politicians. Michael Caine, Glenn Close, JJ Abrams, Steve McQueen, Victoria and David Beckham, and Lily Allen, are just some of the people who love to call The River Cafe home. On River Cafe Table 4, Rogers sits down with her customers—who have become friends—to talk about food memories. Table 4 explores how food impacts every aspect of our lives. “Foods is politics, food is cultural, food is how you express love, food is about your heritage, it defines who you and who you want to be,” says Rogers. Each week, Rogers invites her guest to reminisce about family suppers and first dates, what they cook, how they eat when performing, the restaurants they choose, and what food they seek when they need comfort. And to punctuate each episode of Table 4, guests such as Ralph Fiennes, Emily Blunt, and Alfonso Cuarón, read their favourite recipe from one of the best-selling River Cafe cookbooks. Table 4 itself, is situated near The River Cafe’s open kitchen, close to the bright pink wood-fired oven and next to the glossy yellow pass, where Ruthie oversees the restaurant. You are invited to take a seat at this intimate table and join the conversation.
