Speaker 1 (00:00):
I'm hang out with my friend walking on the radio.
Speaker 2 (00:08):
Boys game and talking on the radio. It's time to tune.
Speaker 3 (00:14):
Just walkin.
Speaker 1 (00:17):
All babyy Wingo, Katistin seeing all up on radio. Bye, yes, helone,
Welcome everybody. It's the world famous Ben and Skin Show
on a Tuesday. Ben Rogers, Jeff skin Wade, Kevin kat Turner,
and Christina A little baby corn bread Ray All hands
on deck here on a Tuesday, On a Cowboy Tuesday.
(00:39):
Cowboys win Monday Night Football last night, thirty three to
sixteen over the Raiders.
Speaker 2 (00:44):
I'm sure we.
Speaker 1 (00:45):
Will get into that quite a bit throughout this presentation.
I just Ben, I think the NFL is just there's
so much great parody in this league, and it's like
almost any game as a coin flip. You could look
the Raiders and say the Raiders suck, and you could
style point this win. But I think a win is
a win, especially for the Cowboys when they've struggled as
(01:07):
badly as they have, especially on one side of the ball,
particularly with their defense. So not gonna style point this,
I'm just gonna celebrate it. This is awesome and the
Cowboys are now just barely in the hunt enough to
be in the hunt to where all the NFL shows,
all the sports talk shows when they lay out the
standings and who's alive and who's not, the Cowboys will
(01:29):
probably be the last team listed that is still alive,
and so Jerry Jones gets his wish. The Cowboys will
still be in the conversation. All the sports talk shows
out there in the world will get their wish because
they get to include the Dallas Cowboys and all of
that chatter at least for another week. Cowboys play the
Super Bowl Champs on Sunday and they're eight and two,
(01:50):
and if they win that game, then man, we're going
to be riding extremely high and did.
Speaker 3 (01:55):
Fun to be in the hunt under five hundred no November,
I mean, that's that's when it's cooking, baby. It's just
you know, they are technically in the hunt. The problem
is that so many of the wild card teams have
already beat them, so you're gonna have to leapfrog them.
You got to get a two game advantage on them
(02:16):
basically no ties, so that makes it hard. But to
Ben's point, think about the way this team is going
to feel about himself if it beats Philly and they
are quote unquote getting healthier and the idea of reinforcements
and what it could mean. And it's always a disadvantage
(02:37):
for the other team to have to fly to your
building on Thanksgiving. You've always got the advantage and then
you always have yo. If we take care of business
this week, we got ten days off before we have
to see another opponent. That is tech shram genius right there.
And they are still bearing the fruits of that forty
(02:58):
years later.
Speaker 2 (02:59):
I think they have.
Speaker 4 (03:00):
I think the NFL screwed them on that one, though, Right,
what do you mean, I think after Thanksgiving? I think
that it's a Thursday night game against the Lions. Oh
so it's more than ten Oh it's Oh so it's
a week. So they have like three games in like
thirteen days. Oh, I didn't realize that. So you've got
Philly at home, they're eight and two. Then you've got
(03:20):
the Chiefs at home for Thanksgiving obviously and they're five
and five.
Speaker 2 (03:25):
Then you're at Detroit they're six and four.
Speaker 1 (03:27):
Minnesota is struggling a little bit, they're four and six.
Then you got the Chargers who are seven and four,
and that's your next five. That's the gauntlet. After that,
you finish at Washington and at New York against the Giants.
Those teams are three and eight and two and nine, respectfully, respectively.
So you would think that they should be able to
win those two games if they're still live and fighting
(03:49):
for their lives. And so it all starts with this
game against Philly, but this five game stretch will decide
what if they're going to the postseason.
Speaker 4 (03:57):
Chargers just got smoked thirty five to six. Minnesota's quarterback
JJ McCarthy is so bad the fans are booing him man.
So we'll see what's going on there. I think last
night they're like just like, look into what happened and
what they've been through over the last two weeks. Trades,
new people in the building, a player died. Yeah, like
pretty good night for Brian Schottenheimer. And I think the
(04:18):
easy thing to say is, well, if you're going through
some adversity, the Raiders on your schedule is a good thing. Well, yeah,
everyone plays someone, right, so it didn't really matter. Can
I play something just real quick? It's the locker room
right after the game. Shottenheimer gets a little choked up
for a minute, but it tells me that I really
like him more than the last two coaches we've had here.
Speaker 2 (04:39):
I just know that much about him.
Speaker 5 (04:41):
Hey, listens up, Hey, before before we do all the
celebration stuff.
Speaker 2 (04:47):
So proud of you guys.
Speaker 4 (04:48):
Man ay man.
Speaker 2 (04:49):
Tough couple of weeks. Oh, here we go. I'm back.
I'm good, I'm back. I'm back. Here we go.
Speaker 5 (05:02):
That get touched out city touch out, touch down TV.
That gotta touched on the Floe or Keith and the
ball was deflected by can.
Speaker 4 (05:14):
So we keep going through all the players, and I
immediately thought, man, what if NBA did that after each game?
Speaker 1 (05:22):
What's that every stat? Luca had a dunk, Yeah, then
he had a three pointer, yeah. Then he had an assist, Yeah,
then he had another assist.
Speaker 2 (05:30):
We just take a shower and get on the plane.
We really need to get going.
Speaker 3 (05:33):
I just noticed jaydon Hardy's plus minus most got some time.
Speaker 2 (05:37):
You know what was great.
Speaker 3 (05:38):
There's a lot of things that are great, but dak
throwing a touchdown or you know how many different dudes
had touchdowns four or five? I mean spreading it around
and the other thing you were talking about with Shoddy one.
If you do feel like you're losing it, I think
if you turn into barking country guy, you can pull
out of the ditch. He did that with his voice.
(05:59):
You know, he kind of shot yeah, but like kind
of go to loud, barking country guy, and you can
pull out of any emotional moment. But the other thing
that you're talking about about liking that guy. When they cut,
I don't know if y'all saw this, but they cut
to after the game one of his ex players, Lockett,
wanted to take pictures with him. Yeah, wanted to do selfies.
And I was looking at that going that says a
(06:20):
lot about how much players liked.
Speaker 2 (06:22):
Tyler Lockett, who's rumored to be a virgin. Really yeah,
uh rumor. It wasn't the thing a long time. I
don't know if he ever got married and went ahead
and knocked it out.
Speaker 1 (06:33):
But so the question is can they fix their defense.
Their offense is fine. Their offense is quite possibly the
best in the league. It's definitely a top five. So
can you fix the defense which has been bottom three,
bottom five in the entire league? And you could look
at it and you could say, Okay, they just got
all these reinforcements. We talked about the six guys, the
(06:55):
six new bodies, Quinn Williams, Logan Wilson. They've traded for
both those guys. Marveon overshown back from injury. Chavon Revel Junior,
their draft pick who they drafted. He was hurt, That's
why they got him in the third round. He's back.
He looked pretty good. That's the first time he's played, obviously,
and then you got both your safeties Wilson and Hooker back,
so you could look at it and say, Okay, they
(07:18):
got a bunch of new bodies. They're getting healthy, and
they have some reinforcements as your Rocky is getting better
and better every single week with more playing time and experience.
Clowney settling in, looking pretty good. Kaylin Carson is coming
on nicely. I still don't understand what happened to Trayvon Diggs.
It's still such a weird thing. Darn Bland bounced back
(07:39):
from a bad game. He looked much better. So you
could squint and look at it and say, okay, okay,
maybe could they be a top eighteen defense the rest
of the way, even top fifteen, top twenty defense If
they are, their offense is good enough that man, they
could rattle off a bunch of wins here, they could
go five and two or six and one.
Speaker 3 (08:00):
Yeah, I think for them, the hope is to be
opportunistic with turnovers and the offense can't turn the ball over.
We had a good stretch earlier in the year where
we were not turning the ball over, and then we
went back to old ways and we were like turnovers
and penalties.
Speaker 2 (08:14):
Let's be that team.
Speaker 3 (08:16):
They did have the early fumble last night, but the
Raiders are not very good, and man, it would have been.
There's always so much that informs the end of a game.
At the end of the first half, and as the
Raiders were going down, they were going to get the
ball back, but that interception led to another Cowboys touchdown,
(08:36):
and then it put the game out of reach. The
Raiders are right there, they have an unfortunate interception on
a tipped ball, and if that doesn't happen, you know,
it becomes a closer game, and then you can't make
the mistakes. But when you build up a twenty four
to six lead, you have so much margin for air.
At that point you can play a different style of football.
(08:56):
And that's what earlier in the year the Cowboys were
not playing from behind, and then they had about a
three or four week stretch where they were and they
got their asses handed to him.
Speaker 4 (09:04):
Early in the game is fourth and three, and Troy
and Joe kind of have a running bit where they
just kind of make fun of analytics, like and it's
more of like almost making fun of Troy for like
not being like I don't know about that, but they
have the little thing on ESPN says that our analytics
models his go for it and fourth and three they
kicked the field goal, and then Troy mentioned that Ryan
(09:25):
Schottenheimer told him that he's on the conservative side of
the coaches. There's a play where it was ten to
six and the Cowboys are driving and Dak had to
check it down his third and didn't check it down
to Hunter Lipkey and he got nine yards. It is
fourth and one, and they d up going for it,
and they should have on the six yard line.
Speaker 2 (09:42):
Of course, you go for it. The Troy didn't want
to go for it.
Speaker 4 (09:44):
And Troy was kind of thinking about, well, I said
earlier about taking the points right here, and he's not listening.
Speaker 2 (09:49):
He said he's a shot.
Speaker 4 (09:50):
He talked about his dad and his ear telling him
take the points or whatever, and he's like, well, he's
not listening to his dad right now, and they go
for it on fourth and one. Jack Ferguson walks to
the end zone and turn and they throw to him
because everyone on the field is thinking about Ceedee Lamb
and George Pickens.
Speaker 2 (10:05):
Dude that man.
Speaker 3 (10:07):
I'll tell you what, why don't we carry this over
because I do want to. I'm excited about the Cowboys.
I am excited about the way that they played. There
is some hope, but there's something from last night's game
that maybe takes away from that. We'll tell you what
that is next right here on the Ben and Skin
Show ninety seven point one, The Heat. It's the Ben
and Skin Show ninety seven point one The Eagle.
Speaker 2 (10:27):
Look.
Speaker 3 (10:27):
All week long, we have bad Omens tickets. They're coming
to the American Airlines Center and you can have your
chance to win those tickets. You need the iHeart app.
There's a talkback feature where you leave your name, your
phone number, and your email address and you will have
a chance to win those tickets. All right, we're talking
Dallas Cowboys football.
Speaker 2 (10:46):
Okay.
Speaker 3 (10:47):
So then there was a play towards the end of
the first half. It was a touchdown play for George Pickens,
and he ran a dig route and then he went
right back to the outside and he got all the
way and ran down the sideline and cut back again
and went into the end zone. You remember the play
I'm talking about? Yeah, all right. I don't know how
many times you watched that or saw it. It was
(11:09):
striking as to how many people were on the field
in Raiders Jersey that weren't trying to tackle the player,
including the original guy that got torched. So keep in
mind he got burned and then he started running after Pickens,
and Pickens cut back again. How can the man in
pursuit that got torched get beat again on a cutback
(11:33):
when he's behind him unless he had zero interest in
actually touching the player. So while I'm very excited about
things that I saw yesterday and you kind of start
thinking about, all right, gets these teams, maybe these things work,
that was a Raiders team that had absolutely zero interest
in playing football.
Speaker 2 (11:53):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (11:53):
You know, they really only have two good players on
their team, right, Crosby and Genty.
Speaker 2 (11:59):
Outside of that, I don't think they really have any
other good players.
Speaker 3 (12:02):
Which his name, Brockers is good band did good job
on him yesterday.
Speaker 4 (12:08):
Drum Bland was really good after two weeks on Monday
Night football and getting his ass shown to everybody, honestly,
like that was a really big rebound game for him.
The other thing I'd say is very interesting to me
just going forward thinking about contracts and where we're going
with George Pickens. Max Crosby set there and was like,
I don't know, don't even entertain trading me. I don't
want to be traded, and then to play for that
(12:29):
team that doesn't seem to care. Miles Garrett, who has
fifteen sacks already, all right, he's going to probably set
the record right, was like, I don't want to be
in Cleveland. And then they gave him the highest paid
contract in NFL history at the time.
Speaker 1 (12:43):
Took it.
Speaker 2 (12:43):
Okay, Yeah, I'm good.
Speaker 4 (12:45):
And now after the end of each game he's sitting
at the end of the bench by himself, and I
saw Dez Bryant had a crazy tweet, but it was like, hey, George,
just remember there's more things to think about them being
the highest paid wide receiverlah blah blah blah blah, And
then the tweet spun out of control into nothing about
George Pickens and the Cowboys. But it just made me think,
(13:05):
like that's the type of thing that they will need
from someone. George Pickins, I don't can you can you
like get paid like the best number two?
Speaker 6 (13:14):
Uh?
Speaker 2 (13:15):
Pro Football Talk's already putting out stuff.
Speaker 4 (13:17):
The Cowboys are gonna have to make a decision between
George Pickens and Cede Lamb. And I'm like, we don't
need to start this today. Ceedee Lamb's contract is not
movable right now, Like we don't need to start having
that conversation. But this George Pickens thing because you didn't
trade him at the trade deadline, can go in a
number of different directions. And my point is I don't
trust the Cowboys to handle it properly.
Speaker 1 (13:38):
That's fair, And I you know, I think he's probably
not looking at it this way, but and he was
dominant while Ceedee Lamb was out, but he's probably helping
him that CD's on the other side. Yeah, right, this
the tweet you're talking about from des Bryan, I had
it pulled up, says George Pickens. I want you to
understand that whenever it's time to negotiate your new contract,
your legacy will be worth more than being the highest
(14:01):
paid wide receiver if you stayed with the Cowboys. Now,
think about that. That's something des Bryant would have never
followed himself. Now, Like he's staying with the Cowboys for
your legacy, for your brand, and I love that he does.
Is such a Cowboy fan. He's trying to sell him.
Then here's where it gets weird. He says, there's a
(14:21):
lot more to the thought process. But think about it.
If I were Jerry, I would respectfully go in a
different direction than D. C. Eberflus, not because he's a
bad coach. I would offer Al Harris the DC job
and let him find his defensive support.
Speaker 2 (14:37):
You have to be the best at what's current.
Speaker 1 (14:41):
I've watched great teams and been a part of great
teams the Cowboys have had over the years. Also, you
have to keep the roster young and hungry. I played
with guys who were past their due date and didn't
love the game.
Speaker 2 (14:56):
Hey Dad, who are those guys?
Speaker 3 (14:57):
Yeah said respect for respect respectfully. A lot of these
guys quit, man, I I just don't.
Speaker 2 (15:07):
I mean, I think this.
Speaker 3 (15:08):
Is the same for all sports, but more so football
than anything. Trying to get some guy to take less
money when you can just cut his Assenar's one hundred
percent injury rate and they have high rates of head injuries.
I'm sorry, there's that whole selling someone on being a
part of some team's legacy. There's a very few group
(15:29):
of people on planet Earth that are wired that way,
and most of them had joined the military like that is.
I don't think any of that talk resonates. Hey, man,
you're probably not gonna be able to walk in your
forties and get a head injury. But man, show your
allegiance to Jerry, who's slumped over in his chair right now.
Speaker 1 (15:47):
Let people were talking about him having claw hand. Yeah
what was that, Christina?
Speaker 7 (15:51):
Oh that was right at the beginning with the national
anthem and you've got a little claw hand.
Speaker 2 (15:57):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (15:57):
May have been a tribute to fritzwan Eric I hope.
So that is the most slumped over I've ever ever
seen him. His shirt collar was above his ear. It's
like laying down in a chair.
Speaker 2 (16:08):
It was laying down.
Speaker 3 (16:09):
And then when Charlotte put that blankey on him, I
was like, we're finally seeing his age.
Speaker 2 (16:16):
Lord, all right, there you have it.
Speaker 1 (16:19):
We'll get back into the Cowboys all throughout today's shows.
It's an exciting Tuesday when the Cowboys went on Monday
Night Football. All right, coming up next, Kat wants to
know why women don't like the podcast. We'll do that next,
Hot God.
Speaker 8 (16:38):
Stay up to the chove.
Speaker 2 (16:46):
All right.
Speaker 4 (16:48):
So the story and it was it from NPR and
it said, bros really are dominating podcasting. It's like a
a thing that's taking off a little bit, like just
much bros dood podcast. Yeah, and maybe that comes from
the Rogan sphere. Yeah, and guys like Shane Gillis are
(17:08):
like loosely affiliated with that.
Speaker 2 (17:10):
And things like that. Yeah.
Speaker 4 (17:11):
But this article is very interesting to me because I
never really thought about the data on this. They looked
at six hundred of the most popular podcast of twenty
twenty four are using data from Spotify, and within the
top one hundred, nearly two thirds were hosted by men.
Three quarters of all guests were male. Two women were
(17:33):
underrepresented in the business, tech, sports, fitness, and comedy genres.
Shocking women were though dominating the true crime genre, which
I've said for years, women love true crime.
Speaker 1 (17:46):
And you know what, I am pissed that we're not
getting our fair shaken that genre. Man, I feel like
it's an area where men could just really show what
they've got and there's no room for us the ballhog
in this thing.
Speaker 2 (17:57):
Let us in there.
Speaker 3 (17:58):
I mean, the men are the one creating the true
crimes in the first place. Let us speak on it, right.
Speaker 4 (18:03):
I know when I went to a podcast it's a
podcast convention recently, and I pitched True Crimes nerd well
really yeah, And I was pitching True Crime Turner as
a new podcast and they were like, uh, do you
have a penis?
Speaker 8 (18:17):
Sir?
Speaker 2 (18:18):
Get out?
Speaker 1 (18:18):
Yeah, get out? Unwelcome sexist. He's right, that happened to him,
Reverse cowgirl sexist. And I didn't go back to podfast.
Speaker 9 (18:26):
No.
Speaker 2 (18:27):
I bought a four day pass Ben went to Reverse
Cowgirl Fest. It was awesome. I had a great time. Yep. Yeah,
who was all there?
Speaker 9 (18:34):
You know?
Speaker 1 (18:35):
Sissy Lexis Lexis Texas Sissy there, Siren de Murr, Come on,
Sissy was there though? Right? No, I don't know, oh, Sis,
I can't coach you no matter what, Sissy, I'm sorry
when I punched you, of heart, I'm prideful. Get back
up on that mechanical bull, Sissy God across the one
(18:56):
hundred most popular podcast of on Spotify. Yeah, sixty four
percent of the host for men, thirty six percent of
the host for women.
Speaker 3 (19:05):
You know what, I'd like to make a bold proclamation.
I bet that those numbers aren't even an accurate representation
of talk radio. I bet because that's what a podcast is.
It's the extension of talk radio. Now, you go turn
on talk radio right now and tell me how many
female voices you hear. I'm willing to bet the numbers
(19:26):
are more skewed on talk. And I'm talking about news
and sports and political talk. If you took those three
talk formats and listen to them on radio, I'm willing
to bet that there's seventy five percent male voices on
that thing at minimum.
Speaker 2 (19:41):
Christina, No, I agree.
Speaker 7 (19:42):
This is a male dominated industry, and it still is
in twenty twenty five.
Speaker 2 (19:46):
Yeah, Ben, So why don't women like broadcasting?
Speaker 7 (19:49):
We love it, It's just hard to get there. You
have podcasts, Oh I want have time for a podcast?
Speaker 2 (19:56):
I don't want to do that.
Speaker 7 (19:58):
I've got radio. I don't need a podcast.
Speaker 3 (20:01):
Oh yeah, How can they have time to do podcasting
if all the time they spend looking good for us?
Speaker 2 (20:07):
Getting these stationes doed making the bed. Pot pies aren't
going to cook themselves so much? Yeah, take care of
you and got a cold, dude.
Speaker 3 (20:15):
We should do a podcast called pot Pies Aren't going
to cook themselves based on what it's like being a man.
Speaker 2 (20:20):
Christina.
Speaker 1 (20:21):
We had that guy that we knew who's uh, every
if he got sick and he needed to know if
he had a fever, he would only use an anal thermometer,
and so anytime he got sick or sneezed, his wife
would leave. His girlfriend would leave the house. You know
what I'm saying, Yeah, because she didn't want to go
dig I don't want to deal with that.
Speaker 2 (20:38):
Is that what you're saying. I've never had to do
that before. I don't, so I don't know how I
would react. You've never administered the rectal thermometer?
Speaker 3 (20:47):
Not no, give us a call if you've ever administered
or no, you know, next let the general know two
on four seven seven five three, Just hey, General, I
have or have it received the.
Speaker 2 (20:59):
Rector and then ended with go cowboys. Yeah, make sure
you put that in there. Yeah that was huge if
you could do that. Yeah, maybe clutch for us.
Speaker 1 (21:09):
I just want to say that, unlike KT and Skin,
I support women and I encourage them to chase their dreams.
Speaker 2 (21:17):
Right, Christina sounded very sincere Ben, thank you, hey man.
Speaker 4 (21:23):
To me, if if a gal wants to okay, hoe cast,
I mean, what is the word podcast? Yes, or if
there's a video element and they are naked, it's a podcast. Okay,
all right, that's that's my ideas. Did y'all know that Twitter, Chat, GBT,
and Spotify all went down for a while on Who.
Speaker 2 (21:47):
The Internet? Yeah, So basically there's a.
Speaker 4 (21:52):
Company you're called cloudwear or maybe it's like a type
of technology that.
Speaker 3 (21:58):
Sounds like a company that Mike Judge would make cup
in one of his shows. There is a website that
if like something's down, you can go to. It's called
down Detector. I've gone to a million times, me too,
and I went to down detector. See, okay, my Spotify
is not working? What's going on here?
Speaker 4 (22:13):
And well, the problem is is down Detector also went
down because it was on cloud flare as well. So
the entire Internet and the thing that tells you what's
not working on the Internet was also not working because
of what it was using. And I just wanted to
say that I love technology.
Speaker 2 (22:30):
I mean, what are we doing?
Speaker 4 (22:33):
So much stuff is out there and can just go
down just like that. Yeah, you don't have it anymore.
Speaker 3 (22:39):
Do you have friends that know how to survive if
like electricity is off? Because I don't are you serious? No,
you light a candle.
Speaker 2 (22:46):
I'm just saying before, I'm just saying, like, you know,
you got a week? Oh yeah, it sucks.
Speaker 1 (22:51):
I don't know.
Speaker 4 (22:51):
I don't know what I did in the summer, dude,
it was tough. Yeah, I didn't stay at a friend's
house for a night for one night.
Speaker 2 (23:00):
That sounds like hell.
Speaker 4 (23:01):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (23:02):
I was like, we're just gonna get a hotel right
like it. It's so hot, so hot.
Speaker 1 (23:06):
Good ting, Kevin, Thank you Kevin. Uh Coming up next, Skein,
We're you gonna take some things.
Speaker 2 (23:10):
Skin is tracking.
Speaker 3 (23:11):
Man, there's a whole really weird wild world that Jeff
Bezos lives in, and I got some information about it
and I'll share it with you guys. Next, Ben and
Skin Show ninety seven point one. The Eagle coming up
here in fifteen minutes. We'll get back into the Cowboys.
Do they have too many good defensive tackles?
Speaker 10 (23:26):
Now?
Speaker 3 (23:26):
Also be listening for your chance to win bad Omens
tickets at some point during the show. But right now
it's time for this.
Speaker 1 (23:35):
Track.
Speaker 2 (23:37):
Another edition of things is tracking all right. Do you
guys know how Amazon got its start?
Speaker 8 (23:43):
No?
Speaker 2 (23:44):
No, do you know, Christina, No, I really don't. They
They sold books online. Books. They were an online bookseller kindle.
Speaker 1 (23:51):
Uh you know.
Speaker 3 (23:52):
I think they actually sold actual books, but they probably
sold downloadable stuff too. I remember this vaguely, but that's
what they were. They sold books online. So then they
became the absolute juggernaut that they were, and they sold
everything online, and Jeff Bezos became mega rich men. Well
I heard this crazy story from a friend of a friend, okay,
(24:17):
And basically when they first got up and go in
and Bezos's first wife was from the literary world, okay,
and they suddenly were mega rich. So they started doing
these retreats where they would go and they would rent
out a whole resort and they would invite all sorts
of influential people, but a lot of them were from
(24:38):
the literary world. So, hey, this famous author that wrote this,
Tony Morrison or even King right, and they would get
all these people together on this resort and there was
no you couldn't take pictures and do social media. It
was almost like a fight club thing. And they get
together for three or four days and they just exchange ideas.
Creative people getting together a exchanging ideas and talking about
(25:01):
the future of the world. Well then you know, Amazon
or Bezos got a divorce and the member we've talked
about her before. Then you mentioned the lady that he
married was the news anchor lady from LA Yeah.
Speaker 2 (25:15):
It looks like a sex butt come looks like yes, yes.
Speaker 3 (25:19):
And so then the people that got invited to these
resorts became more Hollywood type people. There's still people from
the literary world, still people, and then there's people from Hollywood, okay,
and Amazon's become a Hollywood thing.
Speaker 2 (25:35):
Okay.
Speaker 3 (25:36):
So then when the pandemic hit, it stopped happening, and
then quietly they got it going again. And so I
went online to kind of research this and I found
some articles about it. But the story that the person
told me that their friend told them because their friend
went to the last one four weeks ago. And what
Bezos does is he rents out an entire resort and
(26:00):
there's only ninety one people that.
Speaker 2 (26:02):
Are there Okay, why ninety one.
Speaker 3 (26:04):
I don't know why they got that number. I'm assuming
it's some weird Illuminati stuff. And then that you can
bring your kids. Okay, so you can bring your family,
and apparently everything there is free. So, for example, at
the resort, if your kids wandered into the gift shop,
they could just take stuff with them because it's all
paid for it. It's all free, and there's activities like pickleball.
(26:28):
And then they have TED talks. So the person that
told the person I knew about it, they went and
there is a speech that was there from a guy
that has created a thing that removes plastic from the ocean.
All right, he's a scientist and an inventor, and so
far they've removed forty percent of the plastic from the ocean.
And so as he's given this TED talk, you might
(26:49):
have rock star sitting next to literary giant sitting next
to Leonardo DiCaprio. So I was told at the last one,
Leonardo DiCaprio was there, and you're all supposed to wear
name tags and he wasn't wearing his, but you would know,
like no one's yeah. Okay, So imagine you get there
(27:12):
and you don't really know who's going to be there,
but you're there for three or four days, and while
you're there, there's cocktail hour. Like imagine if you were
just like some scientists that got invited to this and
you're suddenly sitting at a table with Leonardo DiCaprio having drinks.
Speaker 2 (27:29):
I finally made it, And the whole idea is in
their mind.
Speaker 3 (27:32):
They want to put people together and exchange ideas and
all this stuff, so they could just be us on
this planet. Right as we get rid of all the
people that aren't worth anything, what are the ninety one
of us going to do? But I was just thinking
about what a weird deal that is WED And so
the person that knew the person, their hotel room is
(27:56):
next to Nicole Kidman's.
Speaker 2 (27:57):
Oh, and she's been going through a divorce, right, So
I imagine Keith Urban's not there, No, he's hanging out
with Blake Shelton.
Speaker 3 (28:04):
But doesn't this open up this really wild, interesting portal
into the unique lives of rich and influential people. I mean,
think about going to a weekend resort and the person
that went to this is not some big star, but
they somehow got roped into it. Yeah, So they're the
kind of person that wouldn't know what to do with
Leonardo DiCaprio, Like if you were, I don't know, Like,
(28:27):
let's say green Day got invited. Yeah, right, the lead
singer of Green Day knows how to talk to famous people.
Speaker 2 (28:34):
Yes, right, yeah.
Speaker 3 (28:36):
But if you're not a crazy famous person, but you're
in this very small group, that's a strange thing to
be involved in. Do you invite Leonardo DiCaprio to go
play pickleball with you at five o'clock on a Friday afternoon.
Speaker 2 (28:50):
I mean, he probably would appreciate just the normalcy of it.
Speaker 4 (28:53):
I bet let me tell you got something off the
air about him? Oh tell us now off the air,
there is time for it. It would go against Jordiana.
He would appreciate some normal claim.
Speaker 2 (29:06):
Well, if you were a nineteen year old woman.
Speaker 4 (29:08):
Oh yeah, absolutely, it does feel like a place where
crimes are committed. I'm just saying from the outside looking in. Yeah,
it does feel like a place so secluded.
Speaker 2 (29:22):
Turn it into a diddy party.
Speaker 1 (29:23):
It's just it's just somebody that's so rich that they
can afford to buy a resort and take everyone they
love or anyone they want to hang out with with them.
Speaker 2 (29:32):
That's what it sounds like.
Speaker 3 (29:33):
And also the idea of, Hey, I want to reward
the scientist for getting plastic out of the ocean. I'll
put him next door to Nicole Kidman at my private
resort party where I pay for everything.
Speaker 2 (29:43):
Because I'm so stupid rich.
Speaker 3 (29:46):
I'm going to rent out I don't know, New Mexico,
and I'm gonna have Leonardo DiCaprio and a scientist there
and they're gonna play pickleball because that's what I want
them to do for a four day weekend. That's insane.
And it all started by selling books online.
Speaker 2 (30:02):
Wow, how wild is crazy? All right? There you have it.
Speaker 1 (30:05):
There's things Skin is tracking coming up next and around
the sports. Did the Cowboys now have too many good
defensive tackles? We'll discuss next.
Speaker 2 (30:14):
Now Around the sports, KTD Twins has all the sports.
Speaker 4 (30:21):
Yes, I would say that the new Dallas Cowboys defense
looked pretty good for one night last night. It had
me thinking though about the future because they do have
Kenny Clark, they do have Quinna Williams. Or you just
traded for and O soo DIGGI zoo, will you draft
a couple of years ago, and then you signed him
to an extension.
Speaker 2 (30:40):
And the way things looked.
Speaker 4 (30:41):
Last night against the Bad Raiders offensive line is not
how it's going to look every single week. But it's
pretty interesting to have that position, defensive tackle, a position
where you haven't had anyone really good in a long time.
Now you have like the ability to keep them fresh.
You have all these things you can do at the
defense now. And I was just wondering, do the Cowiys
(31:04):
have too many good defensive tackles now?
Speaker 1 (31:05):
I saw my show to tweet out the depth chart
last night that the Cowboys you know, you know media
team gave them the press or whatever, and it had
three starting defensive tackles were listed.
Speaker 2 (31:17):
Okay, it's how they listed. It brought us.
Speaker 1 (31:19):
I saw brought us with a tweet that said he
counted four different five man line combinations, so they were
figuring out ways to get creative and get them all
in the mix. I didn't see the play breakdown of
how many game you know plays each defensive tackle played,
but man, if your biggest issue is that you can't
stop the run, it just I mean, this is going
(31:40):
to be fun at least the rest of the way
this season to have three of the best defensive tackles
in this in the entire league. I feel like Kenny Clark,
I don't think you can keep him next year because
I think that's a I think he'll be the odd
man out. That's a lot of money to pay him,
and I think they need to use their resources elsewhere
to shore. I mean, that's kind of an embarrassment of
riches unless you're going to really switch to more of
(32:03):
a three four. But I I mean I based on
his age and what his contract is, I think they
probably will part ways with him next year, I would think,
but you.
Speaker 2 (32:11):
Can restructure him.
Speaker 3 (32:13):
I've been thinking about this a lot, and I would
love to have him and Quinn Williams next each other,
so you know, when you go to the agent, he
knows he's not going to get that twenty five million
dollar base next year. And it doesn't impact the Cowboys
at all to waive him because they're not on the
hook for anything because they're not the ones that sign
him to the signing bonus, and so if he likes
(32:34):
being here, you can structure a deal that's favorable unless
they just want to completely go onto the open market.
Which I get at his age, he may want that,
but I think that there's ways to keep them both
and keep Ziggy I mean or oh see, I'm sorry,
I will sign him.
Speaker 4 (32:51):
Yeah, I mean they're good, you know. Yeah, with Kenny Karktiff,
if you cut him at any point after this year,
you would save in twenty twenty six and twenty twenty
seven about twenty million dollars a year. Yeah, I'm just
rounding there, but but you can over two years you
can restructure that though you don't even you know, because
(33:12):
once you cut him, you can sure resign him. And
if the agent knows you're gonna cut him anyways, they're
starting back at ground zero.
Speaker 1 (33:19):
I think you just got to You just paid Osa too,
so he's a top five paid defensive tackle in the sport.
Speaker 2 (33:24):
Also, uh, it's just are you gonna go to a
three four?
Speaker 1 (33:30):
I don't know if can you afford to have, you know,
a top five defensive tackle as a backup and one
of the highest defensive you know, pies paid defensive tackles.
Speaker 2 (33:40):
Maybe, I don't know.
Speaker 1 (33:41):
I mean, you should be able to do much better
against the run, but they have so many other needs,
you know, at this point, they still need a linebacker help,
they need a safety, they need at least one corner.
They still need a little help on the edge too.
I don't know how they can address all of those things.
You think James is a player, James Houston, No, cham
(34:04):
James not really, dude, he is.
Speaker 2 (34:06):
He flies.
Speaker 3 (34:07):
I mean, I know he's built like Da lu Fowl,
He's built like Woodson. But man, I think I think
he can. I think he can play.
Speaker 4 (34:16):
I don't want to stay in this vortex too long,
but me can I go into the nerdland for twenty
seconds because I do have a little bit of evidence
that says maybe the Cowboys should have maybe not done
this trade, which one the Queen Williams trade, either trade,
and the reason is the Cowboys going into last night's game,
so no games with Queen Williams. We're a top five
team and quick pressure rate rushing the passer from the
(34:38):
defensive tackle position top five, okay, in quick pressures from
the defensive tackle position on non blitz plays. They're the
number two team in the league on non blitz quick
pressures in the defensive tackle position. Telling you that Kenny
Clark and OsO Dickie Zola were actually getting the job
done against the pass, against the run. I don't think
(34:59):
those numbers are hold up asra Quentin Williams will really help.
He's against the run. Don't know how that's gonna go
because the Raiders said we're not going to run the
ball tonight. Yeah, twenty six passes, four runs at halftime. Yeah,
Joe Kelly's like, I don't think we should run it.
Speaker 3 (35:12):
And one of those runs was actually a quarterback scrambler,
wasn't a handoff.
Speaker 2 (35:15):
This is so weird.
Speaker 4 (35:17):
It's just weird seeing Pete Carroll and Chip Kelly involved.
I wasn't what are we even doing? Did y'all realize
that he was the oldest coach in the history of
the NFL. No, I didn't either.
Speaker 2 (35:28):
You know, it's he is.
Speaker 3 (35:29):
He's always been kind of like an energetic, spry kind
of guy, so he doesn't really carry himself like seventy four.
But when you think about those really old coaches from
the past, people that were older back in the day
looked older than they were.
Speaker 2 (35:43):
You know what I'm saying. Just the rugged lifestyle.
Speaker 1 (35:46):
You know, one of the things that couldn't help, but
think about is you look at this Cowboys roster and
you try to figure out what they're going to do
moving forward. Is do we still not know what happened
to Trevon Diggs. I've been asking that question for years. Well,
I mean, for seriously, we're a month from this happening.
We don't know what happened. He's crazy to me.
Speaker 3 (36:04):
He's for sure, without a doubt, the most gone guy.
Wor No, there's no way he's about to.
Speaker 2 (36:10):
D try to do the splits. Oh no, he tried
to do the splits. It's crazy.
Speaker 1 (36:15):
All right, There you have it. There's part one of
Around the Sports coming up in three minutes. Part two
of Around the Sports. Probably the most famous guy we've
ever had on our show, George W. Bush, was on
the Maning Cast last night. We have to examine the audio.
It's three minutes away. Don't miss it, Nan Skin Show
ninety seven point one The Eagle. Don't forget bad Omens
tickets all week long. We stop being giving him away today,
(36:36):
So be listening for your chance to win. You're gonna
need that free iHeart app to make it all happen.
Coming up here in about fifteen minutes. Let's talk about them.
Barrel Hoggs and compel. Right now, it's time for part
two of Around the Sports.
Speaker 4 (36:50):
Yeah, so last night on the Manning Cast on ESPN two,
they had a few guests like Guy Fierti and George W.
Speaker 2 (36:58):
Bush.
Speaker 4 (36:59):
So I went after the game and checked this out
just to see how it went down with George W. Bush,
just to see if he did to Eli and Payton
what he did to Ben that one time. No, here's
what he did to Ben that one time. In case
you didn't know, Hey, we've.
Speaker 1 (37:14):
Got to ask you about this as well. We were
tipped off that you might have a good story in
this regard. Back when you were, you know, an owner
of the Texas Rangers. He took lessons to learn how
to speak Spanish to interact with the Wan Gonzalez and
Pud Rodriguez.
Speaker 2 (37:27):
Is that accurate? Now, No, man, a little legend. That's
a shut block, all right.
Speaker 4 (37:35):
So here's how I get started with the with the Mannings.
I have four clips I want to play.
Speaker 2 (37:40):
For you, mister President.
Speaker 6 (37:41):
When presidents have important addresses to the nations, like the
State of the Union, they.
Speaker 2 (37:46):
Often prepare for weeks, if not months.
Speaker 6 (37:48):
And my question is how long have you been preparing
for this Manning.
Speaker 2 (37:52):
Cast appearance about ten minutes perfect.
Speaker 4 (38:00):
That's okay, okay, same energy, same energy, Well, awkward laughter. Two,
there's a bit of a delay. Eli Peyton kind of
never handled that very well.
Speaker 3 (38:10):
Which Peyton or which Manning was reading that question off
the teleprompter?
Speaker 4 (38:14):
That was Eli, but both of them read off a
note card. And that's when the Manning cast got bad. Yeah,
it's awesome.
Speaker 2 (38:19):
They just talked. That was so stilted sounding, dude.
Speaker 4 (38:22):
For the last three years, ever, since year one, they
changed the format to we have a guest on and
now we're going to read pre program questions and it's
the most robotic thing.
Speaker 2 (38:32):
It's not fun anymore. But yeah, that sounded. It was
with the silence. Manning past appearance about ten minutes perfect,
that's awkward. That was explosive.
Speaker 4 (38:50):
The President, George Bush is seventy nine year old man, okay,
and he was, you know, the leader of the free
world for a while, so he's probably gonna do a
little ball busting, right.
Speaker 2 (38:58):
I'm so pleased to see your face is not on
a TV commercial.
Speaker 10 (39:04):
It's there's a lot of them out there, and there's
a few mole on the way. I'm just gonna apologize
in advance. I filmed a couple last weeks, so I'm
just gonna warn you.
Speaker 2 (39:16):
It's unbelievable.
Speaker 5 (39:20):
Man.
Speaker 9 (39:20):
It is.
Speaker 3 (39:20):
If you had told me when w was in office
that I would love him later in life, there's no
way I would have believed it.
Speaker 2 (39:29):
And man, I love that guy.
Speaker 1 (39:31):
Over the years, I've been able to be friends with
a couple of guys that work in the Secret Service,
and what they always say about him is they say,
all the agents that work with him love him. No
matter what they personally feel about politics, they love the guy. Yeah,
just Texas Grandpa energy? Really Yeah? Okay, So peyte old
school conservative man. Peyton's got a little question here. We
(39:53):
still haven't fully got matumboed yet. You know, ten minutes
is a little joke, but we still haven't got the
Ben Matumbo moment. Does Peyton Manning get it?
Speaker 2 (40:01):
Mister President?
Speaker 10 (40:03):
I followed our father into the family business, becoming quarterbacks.
You follow your father into the family business too, becoming
the most powerful person in the world. I'm not gonna
say which is more impressive, But mister President, and you
were growing up, did you think you would go into
public service?
Speaker 2 (40:19):
Now, I'd behave to have a lot better than college.
He got it though. Man, you're on Peyton Manning's level.
That's great.
Speaker 7 (40:33):
I love it.
Speaker 10 (40:34):
And you were growing up, did you think you would
go into public service?
Speaker 9 (40:38):
No?
Speaker 3 (40:41):
Man, stop right there, it would have been just like me,
can ask a question, why do they need the field
sound to be that hot?
Speaker 10 (40:50):
Dude?
Speaker 2 (40:50):
I have so many ESPN production questions, So don't most
of the stuff we play, all the bad music is
so loud? Like, what reason? I mean, do they really
need a crowd mic? That crank?
Speaker 3 (41:02):
I'm sitting here realizing that I haven't watched the Manning
Cast since they first started it. Yeah, so I wasn't
aware of all this stuff that's gone on. It's crazy, dude,
me is it still doing well?
Speaker 2 (41:13):
I don't know.
Speaker 4 (41:14):
And they're on ESPN two and they're just there. Like,
to me, it didn't make a lot of sense to
put them up against like Troy and Joe. If you're
going to give Troy and Joe all that money, Like,
it's kind of weird that you like would do that.
But I wonder what they're paying the Mannings for them
to even take the time to do it.
Speaker 2 (41:28):
It's got to be a.
Speaker 4 (41:29):
Lot, and it's out there like it's Peyton does his
and his garage and Eli's at home like it's all
if they haven't even figured out how to make everyone's
mic sound good on zoom. Dude, Bill Murray was on
like a month ago and.
Speaker 2 (41:41):
You couldn't even hear him. It's very strange. The delay
is always really bad too.
Speaker 7 (41:45):
That's why I stopped watching It's it's just so it's
more awkward because you're sitting there waiting for them to
actually hear the question and the henryspawn.
Speaker 3 (41:54):
To Ben's point, they've got to be I mean, those dudes,
they're not going to do something just for the fun
of it. They're show that huge cash, so they must
be selling big Spot revenue for that.
Speaker 4 (42:03):
So Peyton got swatted though, Okay, as we just heard,
Now what about Eli? Long clunky question.
Speaker 2 (42:13):
Mister president. I know you mentioned earlier that Peyton's and
so many commercials.
Speaker 6 (42:16):
I'm sure you've seen the nationwide commercials where my brother
is so much more as painting manning. And I also
know that you've got this painting and so how is
the painting going? And would you ever want me to
maybe sit for a portrait?
Speaker 5 (42:32):
No, not really.
Speaker 2 (42:38):
Really, God, he's amazing. Take out the joke. Would you
ever want me to maybe sit for a portrait?
Speaker 8 (42:48):
Not really?
Speaker 2 (42:53):
I love this guy. Can you follow it up with
anything or just end up?
Speaker 9 (42:56):
Not really?
Speaker 2 (42:56):
He George? Could you say a little more. We're out
of note cards with questions them?
Speaker 3 (43:02):
Did you guys enjoy Jim Gray in the booth with
Tom Brady last night?
Speaker 2 (43:06):
Yeah? How about that? All about and that best friends?
All right? There you have it. There it is around
the sports.
Speaker 1 (43:13):
Coming up next in the wildlife news, Does Copel have
a feral hog problem? We'll discuss next well.
Speaker 5 (43:23):
The wildlife too.
Speaker 2 (43:27):
A wild life all right.
Speaker 4 (43:30):
Feral hogs have been spotted within the city of Coppel,
So look out, Coppell if you're listening. Uh, the city
has become aware of feral swine activity on private property.
These Uh, these are next to a bunch of seasonal habitats.
They have existed for many years. Coppell is not out
in the country, guys. I mean, it's it's pretty bustling
(43:51):
over there. So I think it's kind of crazy that
we just got feral hogs.
Speaker 2 (43:55):
Happening and they're dump over there too, like a giant
city dump Oh, I don't think. I I don't know,
but I do know.
Speaker 4 (44:01):
There was a story back in January where Faro hogs
were in that Valley Ranch area where which is very dumpy.
Speaker 3 (44:07):
Now it's the same area, isn't it. In Valley Ranch
and Copell like right next door to each other.
Speaker 2 (44:12):
I always considered value Ranch irving, but yeah, probably.
Speaker 1 (44:15):
My understanding is that Farrell hogs are incredibly dangerous, Like
they're not going to kill anyone, So I guess they're
not incredibly dangerous, but they're a nuisance, and I think
they root around and cause a bunch of damage and stuff.
Speaker 7 (44:26):
They destroy your property. My parents were dealing with some
a few months ago. My dad was poosed.
Speaker 2 (44:32):
Did they bust a cap in one?
Speaker 7 (44:33):
No, because they would do it like super late at
night or super early in the morning. He could never
actually catch them, can't track them. I could see him
strangling one with his barrel.
Speaker 4 (44:43):
Farrell hogs caused and estimated four hundred million dollars in
damage annually in Texas last year. Wait how much four
hundred million in Texans got one point five billion across
the nation.
Speaker 3 (44:53):
God, that is more than you could you could refund
public radio with if you got the feral hog problem
under control.
Speaker 4 (45:01):
So I had a couple of stories that were sitting
off to the side until I saw this Coppel faral
hog story this morning. A couple stories. I was like,
maybe we'll get to them this week, but they're not
like they didn't feel urgent.
Speaker 2 (45:12):
And uh, this is from.
Speaker 4 (45:16):
Some somewhere in Texas o San Antonio. Are feral pigs
coming to a neighborhood near you? Texas A and M
expert waste potential causes? Yeah, I was just going where
the comma was. So basically a whole study had been
(45:37):
done about urban sprawls and you know, again this is
the coyote debate once again. But they're saying we're seeing
more farrell hawks. A statistic show more reports of faral hogs. Okay, cool,
I'll just mark that away. Well, I'll stash that away.
Speaker 2 (45:54):
We'll do the story later in the week, maybe if
we need it. Whatever.
Speaker 4 (45:57):
And then you see that the copel thing is happening too.
Here's the question that I have about farah hawks. Can
they kill children? And if the answer is yes, why
aren't we doing more about this?
Speaker 1 (46:09):
Because the answer is yes they can, But do they
I mean, first of all, think about Christina's case her parents.
Speaker 2 (46:19):
The kids would have.
Speaker 1 (46:19):
To be up at like four in the morning rooting
around in a flower bed, could be in any danger.
Speaker 3 (46:25):
And now in the case of Eugene and Velma's kids,
they're in their twenties and thirties, so they're much older.
I mean, yeah, in that specific case, I guess yes,
so the kids probably aren't in danger.
Speaker 4 (46:37):
So as I stashed that story away before I saw
the Coppel story, I did want to tell you guys
about another story that I had seen the other day.
This dates back to October twenty eighth, but this is
when I saw it, and this is where I just
stashed it on my little document and maybe we'll use it.
The article says, Farah hogs are surging into Texas neighborhoods
(46:58):
right now, surging into Texas neighborhoods right now, Like as
we're on the radio right now live Farrell hogs are
surging into Texas neighborhoods. And I see the urgency now
that Coppel is affected and they're the Metroplex. Three weeks ago,
I was like, I'll just put this in the document.
We'll get to it a month later whatever, whenever we
(47:19):
have time or we need to do this story. But
right now, as I speak, much like the hogs were
dive bombing, hogs are surging into Texas neighborhood.
Speaker 2 (47:29):
That sounds like, let's that's right over there by Coppel
High School right now? Listen to that. Isn't it like
to catch Farrell hogs?
Speaker 9 (47:40):
You like?
Speaker 1 (47:40):
Uh, first of all, you shoot up, you set up
a kill bit like you set up you dig a
hole in the ground and you put like some spam
in it or something. I don't know, you put something
in I guess it wouldn't be spam they've I haven't
seen that, but you put and then you put orange
soda in it and dump it in there, and you
just create like a trash pit underground. They show up
trying to dig it up, and then you shoot them
all or are you getting a helicopter and you shoot
(48:02):
them all?
Speaker 4 (48:02):
Highly involved and feels like a lot of work. I
have seen the cage where you just try to trap them.
Speaker 9 (48:07):
Right.
Speaker 4 (48:07):
You know our friend TC who you know it does all.
He's kind of a renaissance man. He's trapped a hog before.
And I mean I know people in my family probably
have to. But like, TC is not the type of
guy you would think who's trapped a hog. I think
he would trap a hog like at a at a bar,
like corner or but I don't know.
Speaker 2 (48:27):
Okay, but when you trap it, what do you do
with it? After that? You seduce it? Yeah, you tell
it your hopes and dreams. Yeah, it's like, hey, I'm
here to break a slump. Am so you do? Is
you show that feral hogs and trash.
Speaker 1 (48:43):
Christina shook her head disapprovingly at you, but she also smiles.
If she knew it was probably would break a slump.
Speaker 2 (48:50):
I do that a lot too. Oh you break slumps
with hogs? No, oh, shake my head, but smiling because
I expect I like butt smiling up the MAVs. Could
you use some talk? Yeah, there he goes.
Speaker 1 (49:03):
Kevin turns in sports dude. All right, coming up next,
it's the Today game. This segment shalt be podcasted. You
must listen live. It's in three minutes. Don't go nowhere, but.
Speaker 2 (49:17):
Surprise.
Speaker 4 (49:31):
So the Cowboys do win last night, very convincingly. But
there was nothing said about this before the game. And
the game starts and the Cowboys have the ball and
Ceedee Lamb and George Pickens are not on the field,
and Troy and Joe mentioned it. So I'm guessing they
had been tipped off, you know, unless they just quickly
(49:52):
noticed it, because I bet they got tipped off on
the first play. Yeah, maybe you just read the starting
lineups the team. You're like, okay, where are they at?
And so at least this alters the silent report gives.
The report doesn't really give us any information. Here's Brian
Schottenheimer after the game when he was asked what happened there.
Speaker 9 (50:11):
Yeah, again, it's tough, you know what made a coach's decision.
There were some things that were missed, and so I
had a conversation with those guys.
Speaker 4 (50:21):
And okay, you didn't mention the whole defense when they
missed all those tackles you know, earlier in the season,
because those were a lot of things that were missed tackles.
Speaker 2 (50:32):
And that was easy.
Speaker 9 (50:33):
But I mean, you look at the energy those guys
play with.
Speaker 2 (50:35):
And then he talked himself out of it. Do you
guys have a problem with him laying the hammer down. No,
I think it's great.
Speaker 1 (50:41):
I think it sets a good example that if your
best players are going to be late or not show
up for meetings. I'm assuming that's what it was, or
maybe it was the flight, maybe it was some travel
check in or whatever. You can't give them preferential treatment.
And at the same time, it wasn't super harsh, like
they were out the first play, but they were really
out the whole first weren't they. Yeah, which was three
(51:01):
and out quick punt without him and with these they're
their whole offense. Let me give you some quick perspective.
I'm someone that watched the game after it happened. So
I had MAVs duty, so we had the game on,
but I don't have the sound up, so I don't
know what's going on. I'm like, man, three and out,
Good God. And then I got home and watched the
game and they're explaining that, and so my first thought is, oh, wow,
(51:24):
so this is what led to the three and out.
Neither guy is out on the field. Uh, And so
it's pretty funny, like when you're going to you know,
aw down. I wonder if he had hopes of laying
it down further later in the game had they not
gone three and out. Man, I saw him over there
like messing around tickling them. At one point in the game,
he ran over was hugging them and laughing with him, like.
(51:45):
I just think it was symbolic. Really, I just think
it was a all right, man, you guys don't get
to start, and we're not gonna give you any preferential treatment.
But there's a lot that I that they were both
like suspended for one play or once series. They were
goofing off together building chemistry. That's great, and I think
it does set that president where you're like, all right,
if your best players, you know, you can't just let
(52:07):
them slide and then go like penalize some guy who sucks.
Speaker 2 (52:09):
Agree.
Speaker 4 (52:10):
I think it's great that you were able to do that.
I also if you lose that game last night, I
think it's horrible. I you're the team that had the
White House. We don't have to oh they don't have
to like toe the line for the night, and you
know you're the cowboys.
Speaker 3 (52:26):
Let's see if George Pickens learned his lesson. Here was
his quote, how come you're out on the first series?
Certain personnel. We kind of thought they were gonna come
out in a certain way, but they didn't. They started
kind of hunching down on the run, so we started
throwing it around a little bit. Uh So then they
follow back up with him, and when he told that,
(52:47):
Schottenheimer already told everybody is because of those other reasons.
That's just like between me and shoddy honestly, right.
Speaker 4 (52:54):
Here's here's a follow up that shot he had after
his uh you know, here's how here's how that quote ended.
Speaker 9 (52:59):
Real well, I love those guys man, and uh again,
this was a great team win.
Speaker 2 (53:05):
Okay, so follow up practice meetings.
Speaker 9 (53:09):
A couple things missing, Oh, a couple things missed.
Speaker 4 (53:13):
Now. This morning over on the fan, Jerry Jones said
that it had to do with meeting type discipline and
that they had a late problem there. Now, George Pickens
has a little bit of a history of being having
a late problem. Let's go back to Christmas Day of
last year for the Steelers when Mike Tomlin told every
player to be there at least two hours before kickoff
(53:36):
and he comes walking in about an hour and twenty
five minutes before kickoff. Traffic, bro, there's been a team
plane issue with him not getting there in time. Like, dude,
George Pickens, if you're signing up for it, you gotta
go with the highs and the lows and kind of
think Schottenheimer can handle that.
Speaker 2 (53:53):
Yeah, that's the way to handle it. It's kind of
like does Bryant.
Speaker 1 (53:56):
Yeah, he's never going to be on time, and you
know you need to penalize him and punish him, not
so much that you lose him, but enough that you
send a message.
Speaker 2 (54:06):
And it's just going to be like that.
Speaker 3 (54:07):
Receivers are interesting creatures because they're divas by nature, and
also on plays where they're not involved, sometimes they don't try.
Speaker 2 (54:14):
It's crazy. It's just such a such an outlier.
Speaker 4 (54:18):
I want them to sign him just for the sheer,
you know, entertainment factor of what who knows what's going
to happen with him. I mean, I bet he starts
really making meetings on time once he's paid. Do you
want to hear what Jerry said about him after the game,
because I thought Jerry conflated a lot of different types
of arts into this.
Speaker 2 (54:35):
This is very weird.
Speaker 8 (54:37):
Pickings was I've never seen a performance like that, and
it was poetic the way that he was making those
moves out there and do it and it was like
he was in an opera or something going on out there.
A ballet.
Speaker 2 (54:49):
Opera and ballet are way different, right, like way different. Yeah,
there's not really dancing an opera.
Speaker 1 (54:56):
Yeah, he was like one of the great tenors out there,
really them Hi, no, no ballet saying when he scored
that touchdown, he was trying to say it was a
work of art, and then he just got carried away,
kind of like when that one time Norm Hitzkis named
all the great painters and they were composers Mozart. Well,
(55:16):
the mount's open and I can't stop it from going,
so I keep saying.
Speaker 2 (55:20):
Words, Charlotte, come in here and talk for a minute.
Speaker 1 (55:23):
All right, coming up next, we'll keep this going because
the Dallas Cowboys now find themselves officially in the hunt
once again. We'll have that discussion in three minutes. So
do not go anywhere but.
Speaker 3 (55:34):
Anan skin Show ninety seven point one the Eagle. Is
it a good idea to pull a prank on a church?
We've got audio of that coming up at the bottom
of the hour. But let's keep cussing the cowboys going,
shall we. As we're talking about last night's decisive Dallas
Cowboys win and Kat what did that do for them
in the playoff hunt?
Speaker 4 (55:52):
Well, If you look at the Cowboys playoff chances going
into last night, they were about a seven percent chance
of getting in. Yes, so getting that win is huge.
If you go beat the Eagles next week, you have
a fourteen percent chance of making the playoffs.
Speaker 2 (56:06):
So thanks of the time, things.
Speaker 4 (56:07):
Are starting to look pretty interesting, I would say. And
this is the time of year, right around Thanksgiving. We
see this every year with the Cowboys. The graphic comes
up and the Cowboys are in the in the hunt category.
Speaker 2 (56:21):
It's it's they're always there.
Speaker 1 (56:23):
It's it's every year, and it's such a gift for
every sports talk show in our entire industry. If the
Cowboys are barely alive, and Jerry Jones loves every bit
of it, and man, it sucks that they dug themselves
this much of a hole. But if you if you
squint really hard, and you're like, okay, they've got three
(56:43):
dominant defensive tackles now, so maybe they can stop the run.
Speaker 2 (56:48):
I mean, I don't even know how we got here.
Speaker 1 (56:50):
You've got three dominant defensive tackles, and you know what,
You've got a bunch of reinforcements coming. As Iraku is
playing really well, as we pointed out all year, he's
kind of coming into his own. Clowney is looking good.
I've heard brought us talking about Kayln Carson quite a bit.
He had a couple of good plays last night. He's
looking good. And so you look at all these reinforcements
(57:11):
to the defense. Quinn Williams logan Wilson to marve On
overshown his back, you got your safeties back, and Wilson
and hooker Schevon Revel Junior looked really good out there.
So I mean, you can squint really hard and go, Okay, well,
whatever this defense was the first year, they're gonna be
better than that.
Speaker 2 (57:27):
And you know what, they're one of the best offenses
in the league. So sure they could run the table
or maybe lose just one more game. I mean, it's
it's very possible.
Speaker 1 (57:35):
But really it all comes down to this Sunday against
Philly because if they win that game, we're gonna start
playing parade routes.
Speaker 3 (57:42):
It's it's fun. The problem is that Philly is eight
and two. Now, I had forgotten the year that they
traded for Amari Cooper. They were three and five.
Speaker 2 (57:51):
What year was that, twenty seventeen? I think I don't
remember the exact year.
Speaker 3 (57:54):
I just remember last night on the broadcast, Troy was
saying they were three and five, traded for Amari Cooper
and went on a run, got to ten and six.
I was eighteen, okay, got to ten and six and
then won a divisional game.
Speaker 5 (58:06):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (58:07):
Now, yeah.
Speaker 3 (58:09):
The the problem for the Cowboys is that the three
teams that are in the wild Card they've already lost
to and so they don't have they don't have. I mean,
Carolina ended up being a pretty good team. They're sitting there,
what are they just six and five? Six and five?
Chicago keeps winning, so those losses quote unquote look better
if you want to look at it that way. The
(58:29):
Arizona loss obviously is butthole. But man, they're uh, they're
they're good enough to quote unquote.
Speaker 2 (58:37):
Be in the hunt. It's just that hole early on
makes it so very very tough. If they go six
and one early in, I think they are.
Speaker 3 (58:47):
Sad when so, yeah, if they get to so if
they end up they really that would be ten six
and one.
Speaker 4 (58:52):
Well, the two teams that are in the in the
hunt category with them are the Lions and the Panthers.
The Lions will play the Lions. Yeah, the lines will
get in. The lines are the lands are solid. The
Panthers will not, though, So I need two teams that
are in right now to bounce out.
Speaker 3 (59:06):
Wait, how do you know the PANTHERSA how come you're
giving up on them? I don't think they're good. Well,
that's just a meet thing. They're currently six and five
and they hold the tiebreaker with us.
Speaker 2 (59:17):
Hey, they beat my team. The Packers like there.
Speaker 4 (59:19):
Yeah, but just I'm just for the sake of it,
just being realistic of what we might think about these teams.
Speaker 2 (59:24):
I need two teams that are currently in to fall out.
Speaker 4 (59:26):
The Lion's getting in and the Bears coming out one
hundred percent can predict that, and then you would need
like a Seattle or San Francisco to jump out, Dude,
Sam Darnold, and then San Francisco.
Speaker 2 (59:37):
Is weirdly just well, yeah, they're playing well, so there
is a chance.
Speaker 4 (59:45):
The problem is, I think, is you have the Eagles,
I think is the most beatable of the next three games,
and then you have the most desperate team in the world,
the Kansas City Chiefs.
Speaker 2 (59:53):
On things.
Speaker 4 (59:53):
They are five and five and are currently out of
the playoffs. And then you have the Lions who will
be you very tough. And that game's in Detroit, I
believe as well.
Speaker 2 (01:00:02):
If you go it is it is in Detroit.
Speaker 1 (01:00:05):
But if you I mean this, this gauntlet right here
is pretty fierce Philly, Case and Detroit. And if you,
I mean, look, if you want to be a true contender,
these are games you should be able to go win
if that's who you really are. And all it really
comes down to is can they shore up their defense?
Speaker 2 (01:00:23):
That's it.
Speaker 1 (01:00:24):
And I mean Quentin Williams is their best player on
defense now right, Yeah, so he's gonna I mean he
came into the to this game with one point five
sacks on the season.
Speaker 2 (01:00:34):
He had that last night. Yeah, in one game.
Speaker 4 (01:00:37):
Every guy, every one of the new guys that we
played last night had a moment.
Speaker 2 (01:00:42):
Even Molie Cooker like had a moment or two. He
had a couple of moments.
Speaker 4 (01:00:46):
Logan Wilson even like when Gino Smith miss Trey Tucker,
Logan Wilson got.
Speaker 2 (01:00:49):
Ran by, but he was in the one man. I
thought Wilson looked too bad. He looked like a guy
