Speaker 1 (00:01):
There, the Sticky, the Giant, typical the movie.

Speaker 2 (00:11):
Been doing it all week. New York Times has finally
dropped the final twenty on their list of the top
one hundred movies of the twenty first century, as voted
on by actors, directors, other people in Hollywood, and number
twenty takes us to a twenty thirteen film known as
The Wolf of Wall Street. Excellent, It's the great movie.
Liked it, you just kind of liked it yet to

(00:33):
see it.

Speaker 3 (00:34):
It's I have a hard time watching movies over and
over and over where it's a rise and fall because
it's so depressing.

Speaker 2 (00:41):
The fall.

Speaker 3 (00:42):
I think it's bad, Like what, But I really thought
it was a really really good movie with great acting
and several memorable parts to it. But it is just
so sad to watch a guy get addicted to drugs
and just tear down his whole life.

Speaker 4 (00:56):
It's I understand that, but also so I guess. So
it's a lot of fun. It's a really fun movie.
But when I walk into the lobby of the Catbird,
which is the cocktail restaurant on whatever, the eleventh floor
of the Thompson Hotel, and I see it was his name,
Jordan in real life. I forget the guy's real name,

(01:17):
Jordan whatever. And they have a picture of him with
hot chicks and like wolves walking through Like I don't
have you guys ever seen this.

Speaker 2 (01:26):
I've seen it. It's amazing. Uh.

Speaker 4 (01:29):
He has the personality type that he was gonna go
full throttle no matter what walk.

Speaker 2 (01:34):
Of life that man was in.

Speaker 4 (01:35):
Yeah, and dude, DiCaprio and Jonah Hill are great together.
Oh my god, and Score says he that's that's one
of the best movies he made in his later years.

Speaker 2 (01:46):
It's great. Number nineteen, two thousand and seven Zodiac. Okay, wait,
who is in that? Is the dude? Donnie Darko, Jake Gillenhall.

Speaker 3 (01:57):
Yeah, dude, that is a good movie. And the Hulk
is in that. That actor Bruffalo is in that, Mark Ruffalo.
I think a good movie. I'll watch that anytime it's on.

Speaker 4 (02:06):
And I think it's we were talking about this earlier,
like directors being represented on here. I believe that's a
David Fincher movie. It is David Fincher. Yeah, he's he's
one of the best. I mean, We're gonna have a
lot of Fincher movies, a lot of Cohen brother movies
and a lot of pt Anderson movies.

Speaker 3 (02:18):
It's really well done. I think the sad part is
they never quite convicted the Zodiac killer.

Speaker 2 (02:23):
They weren't.

Speaker 3 (02:24):
They thought they knew who it was, but I don't
think they ever got full closure and confirmed who it was.

Speaker 2 (02:29):
If I'm not mistaken. Number eighteen's a tough one. Two
thousand and two to Mama time be in. It's great.

Speaker 4 (02:36):
Uh that's Pedro Almodivar. Correct, No, no, no, it's Stefonzo.
Oh yeah, the yeah, yeah he also did Uh the
was it Perils to be a more movie?

Speaker 2 (02:48):
It's not sex in this movie. Yeah.

Speaker 4 (02:50):
So it's two friends and an older woman and she's
a smoke show and they end up, you know, doing
stuff together.

Speaker 3 (02:57):
It's a it's a movie about trains. There's there's a
train scene, but they're in high school. And that's oh
really different culture, bro, Yeah, I guess so different culture.

Speaker 2 (03:09):
Number seventeen Broke Back Mountain. I gotta be honest, I've
never seen.

Speaker 3 (03:16):
It, you know what.

Speaker 1 (03:17):
I don't think I have either. I think I've seen
parts of it.

Speaker 4 (03:20):
I've seen parts of it, but I've never sat down
and watched it beginning to end.

Speaker 2 (03:23):
I didn't really understand it. I like bene review of
Broke Back Mountain, which I can have I have here,
but let's hear it.

Speaker 3 (03:30):
Broke Back Mountain hit theaters on this day in two
thousand and five.

Speaker 2 (03:34):
I wish I knew how to quit. You never ever quit? Guys?
Why don't you? Why don't you just let me be?

Speaker 3 (03:39):
Huh?

Speaker 2 (03:40):
Why he's so serious?

Speaker 4 (03:42):
Because you jacked.

Speaker 2 (03:43):
I'm like this, Oh, Jake Chillenhall.

Speaker 4 (03:47):
That was a really good scene from that movie.

Speaker 2 (03:52):
They were having such a hard time getting their words
out because it's such an emotional scene. It's hard when
you're had a good Yeah.

Speaker 4 (04:00):
Man, they just beat the crap out of each other
during SEXU have you ever seen it?

Speaker 2 (04:08):
But just say it? Man? What'd you think it was? Gay? Rip?
Just turn into the Ericndre Show. Sucks man so good

(04:42):
in this movie. Now.

Speaker 3 (04:42):
I didn't need to see it. It didn't help me
in any way. Never really had interest in watching it again.
But it was a movie that was made.

Speaker 2 (04:50):
Would you would be into Wolming Ranch hands out there?
It didn't really that.

Speaker 4 (04:55):
It's basically Yellowstone, That's exactly like Yellowstone.

Speaker 2 (04:58):
Fastener number sixteen Crouching Tiger Hitting Dragon. It's awesome. Yeah.

Speaker 3 (05:05):
Didn't that win Best Picture? I don't know, man, I
think it did. It was, Uh, yeah it was. It
was one of those movies that was stunning visually.

Speaker 4 (05:14):
Yeah, did not win into Wait a minute, it's the
same director as Broke Back Mountain.

Speaker 2 (05:20):
Yeah, and they had that back to back ang Lee, Right,
that's what they had. Man. Have you guys ever seen
Ice Storm? Amy Lee?

Speaker 3 (05:28):
Ice Storm's great? Yeah, and that's another Angley movie. What
is happening in it?

Speaker 2 (05:34):
Next door neighbors are having an affair in the early seventies.
I don't think I've seen it. It's great, dude, it's
really really good. What's to the top fifteen? Next?

Speaker 3 (05:41):
Yep, that's coming your way next right here on ninety
seven point one, the Eagle in just over three minutes,
don't go anywhere.

Speaker 2 (05:46):
Can't wait to see what is number one on that list? Eagle.

Speaker 4 (05:49):
This segment is brought to you by a Rollertown Beer Works.
Here's the deal. Like right now, if you go to
the Pie Tap over on Henderson Knox Henderson area, they've
our Buddy Tyler is there doing tastings of rollers down.
How great is that great as we start making our
way into all the pie taps around, Like if you
go to the Design District Pie Tap right now, you

(06:10):
can get the big German on tap. That's just one
of the many places that carries us. Fortunate son, good friend. Tonight,
I actually have a DJ gig at the Echo Music
Hall and Lounge. They have the big German now, so
I'm gonna be drinking big German at my gig at
Echo Music Hall. Just another great place carrying Rollertown, American
Airlines Center, Globe Life. We talked about Pluckers, Kanye Roso. Man,

(06:34):
it's so great, Ben. There's so many great places that
have been supporting Rollertown and continue to do it. And
next week is our five year anniversary celebration. Yeah, hard
to believe we're five years old at Rollertown. Thank you
to everyone who has helped us all along the way.
And if you see us on tap at a restaurant,
order us if they're not. If we're not on tap, man,
tell the restaurant to holler at Benny Keith So so

(06:55):
that's our distributor so they can carry us. And when
you see us at the grocery store, put us in
your put us in your cart man, put us in
your fridge.

Speaker 2 (07:01):
It means the world to us.

Speaker 3 (07:02):
But we will be celebrating our fifty year anniversary next
weekend and we're gonna be there a lot. So if
you want to come hang out with us at Rollertown
next weekend's a perfect chance to do it.

Speaker 4 (07:10):
Yeah, check out all of our social media for that.
But right now it's time for this.

Speaker 2 (07:20):
Thing's big finish it up. Top fifteen Your Times Top
one Herder movies since the year twenty Number fifteen.

Speaker 4 (07:27):
City of God incredible, one of my top five all
time favorite movies. I watch it every time it's on.
It is so ef and good two three. Hey might
see it at all? I have not seen it. It
is the kids in Brazil or it's a true story.
It's basically what I tell people is, if you've ever
seen Goodfellas and thought it was good, watch City of God.

(07:50):
It's basically the Brazilian good Fellas and it's a true
story and it's effing amazing. The acting is incredible, the action,
the soundtrack. It is an incredible movie. Number fourteen and
glorious bastards.

Speaker 2 (08:03):
Awesome, great movie.

Speaker 3 (08:05):
I watch it almost every time I stumble across it saying,
just really really well done.

Speaker 4 (08:10):
It's cool too because you can you know the way
the Tarantino movies skip around in time. Yeah, it's kind
of fun when you just stumble across it because you
don't have.

Speaker 2 (08:16):
To watch it from the beginning.

Speaker 4 (08:18):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (08:18):
Yeah, it's that Christmas Day with my family when it
came out.

Speaker 2 (08:21):
I did that with Django. Oh I bet, I bet
Jango's in the top fifteen.

Speaker 4 (08:25):
Yeah, because Jango's better than an Inglorious Bastards in my opinion.

Speaker 2 (08:29):
Agreed. And the last segment we told you about the
one where the two guys were gonna have sex with
the chick. That was a movie made by Alfonso Quorn,
so it was number thirteen. It's called Children of Men. Oh,
I never saw that. I never saw it. That's about
the Catholic Church, isn't it. I don't know. Bad by drama.

Speaker 3 (08:44):
Back to Inglorious Bastards. I love Brad Pitt's accent in that.
And who's the guy who's the main bad guy?

Speaker 4 (08:52):
Uh?

Speaker 3 (08:53):
Christoph Christoph christ Off Waltz is one of my favorite
actors ever.

Speaker 2 (08:58):
And dude is brilliant.

Speaker 4 (08:59):
And I think Django and Inglorious Bastards were back to back.
Tarantino's right, Yeah, and he was in both.

Speaker 2 (09:05):
The zone of interest. Number twelve that was a couple
of years ago. I remember this. That was one about
the house built next to Aushowitz?

Speaker 3 (09:12):
Is that right?

Speaker 2 (09:14):
Number eleven?

Speaker 4 (09:14):
Mad Max Fury Road twenty fifteen fun incredible. Yeah, it's
just an adrenaline shot.

Speaker 2 (09:21):
They got Number eleven. Okay. I have a hard time.

Speaker 3 (09:26):
Telling which of those movies is which, obviously because a
lot of the same characters recur, but not the main characters.

Speaker 2 (09:32):
So I have the same problem with Fast and Furious
and there's a Desert dom is the one? Is he
the one that likes family? Yep? Number ten? The Social Network?
Great movie? Number one. I can't say that I've seen
this in full. I know i've seen parts of it.
And they're making or they're discussing making a social network too,
Is that right? Yeah? So is this the one where

(09:53):
he goes on to buddy up with Elon? I'm not sure.
I mean, I don't know, there's a lot this happened.
And since that movie, is this the one where he
covers up covidcu, I should probably watch that? Maybe I
don't know. Yeah, it's great, dude. Number nine, there's no
doubt that we've all seen this one. It's called Spirited
Away and it's definitely appears to be animated.

Speaker 1 (10:14):
What Andy, So I may have seen it.

Speaker 2 (10:19):
I can tell you that was on John Tuturo's ballot. Yeah,
I'm real sad too. I don't know what to say
about it. Number eight get out, Yep, I have not
seen amazing. I have failed everyone by having not seen
this movie.

Speaker 1 (10:35):
The whole premise is pretty good.

Speaker 2 (10:37):
Yeah, yeah, really really good, really weird, very weird. Bradley
Whitford is so good in this I mean, Daniel Colia
is obviously awesome. And the girl is is it's Alison Williams. Yeah,
it's Alan Williams daughter. Yeah. And she has that one
scene in Girls we were talking about the other day
where her dad had to watch out. Number seven Eternal
Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.

Speaker 4 (11:00):
Undefeated, maybe the greatest relationship movie of all time.

Speaker 1 (11:03):
I cry every single time. Yeah, you know what's going
to happen?

Speaker 2 (11:06):
I'm crying.

Speaker 1 (11:06):
Think it, I know, I know.

Speaker 2 (11:09):
I will just quickly say that A clip stumbled up
on my Instagram and it was a scene from a
living color where the bit is Jim Carrey in the
background of he's just in the background. They're doing a
live news shot and he's at his office and he
can't help it, but he ends up killing a guy
who gets kicked out, and he's just doing playing to
the camera stuff. But in nineteen ninety that was some

(11:29):
good humor. So he did that a similar bit. You
guys know the story.

Speaker 4 (11:33):
You probably were three, but they did a live in
living color at halftime of a super Bowl.

Speaker 2 (11:38):
I remember the story there.

Speaker 4 (11:39):
The Giants were playing the Bills and they're doing it
live and so to kill the final five minutes or
whatever it was, then pretending to be at the super
Bowl and Jim Carrey is a fan in the background
trying to get attention. Beautiful and it's just amazing improv.
He is h And that was the Steve Christie Super Bowl.
I want to say it might have been number six.
No Country for Old Men knew.

Speaker 2 (11:59):
It, knew it? The movie? Is this the best Cohen
Brothers movie? Do you think? Uh, what are the others?
Fargo would be in the running Fargo's color high Water.
Maybe they didn't do that one.

Speaker 4 (12:12):
I mean, I'm still a huge fan of like early
stuff like Miller's Crossing Raising Arizona.

Speaker 3 (12:18):
Right, But this, this movie, Harvey or Bardem is like
death humanized, like the human version of death.

Speaker 2 (12:26):
Yeah, so good.

Speaker 3 (12:27):
The fact that he's got this, uh, one of those
bolt shooters they kill cows with with the air compression
and he's killing people with that, and it's just a
great portrayal of Texas and Texans in a lot of ways.

Speaker 4 (12:38):
And the scene where he makes the little sweet old
man at the gas station flip the coin to figure
out if he's going to get killed or not, and
the guy doesn't really know, but he kind of knows.

Speaker 2 (12:48):
Oh, so intense. God, it's intense, really good. Number five
Moonlight amazing. It's really really good. I don't think I
saw it. It's the one that twenty sixteen, we thought one,
but it was Moonlight who won. Yeah, it's it's great.

Speaker 4 (13:02):
It's it's intense, and it's it's it's not an easy watch,
but it's really really good. And you know who's great
in it is Janelle Monet. Really she has a small
role in it. Number four This goes back to two
thousand and one in the Mood for Love.

Speaker 2 (13:18):
What is that.

Speaker 1 (13:20):
As in, you've never heard that term before, or.

Speaker 3 (13:22):
Well, no, I'm not familiar with that. It's a song,
it's a standard. I don't encounter anyone that's in that mood.

Speaker 2 (13:30):
That is just a more PC version of feel like
making love. I'm in the mood for love. Uh, yeah,
it was on Sofia Coppola's a ballot. I can tell
you that much. This is a journalist and a secretary,
both married to other people, move into the same crowded
Hong Kong building and then they brushed past each other
and then sparks start to fly a little bit. So

(13:53):
I don't know. It doesn't feel like it should be
top five, but I haven't seen it, so I won't
speak on it. There will be blood number three though. Yeah,
that's the other one I need to see here.

Speaker 3 (14:02):
It's really good, phenomenal acting casting.

Speaker 2 (14:05):
But it's a hard watch man.

Speaker 4 (14:07):
It's that in the Master two pt Anderson movies that
are I mean, I'm a huge fan of his, but
to me, those are laborious watches.

Speaker 1 (14:15):
Also three hours long.

Speaker 2 (14:17):
Yeah, yeah, the thing is so hard. No Country for
Old Men never drags like it goes and goes and goes,
and there's suspense happening.

Speaker 4 (14:24):
I believe there will be blood as an uptons and
clear novel. Does it say that there?

Speaker 2 (14:29):
Didn't say it? Didn't say that, but it might be.
I don't it's not in this paragraph. Number two Mulholland
Drive Man.

Speaker 4 (14:38):
I love David Lynch movies, and this one is really
really good after he had a run where he kind
of had a dry spell. But I would disagree that
it's the second best movie of the twenty first century.

Speaker 2 (14:51):
It wouldn't be in my top ten. Does anyone have
any guesses for what number one is? And are there
any glaring omissions?

Speaker 4 (14:57):
If Jango Unchained ain't out there on on there, that's
that should be in there.

Speaker 2 (15:01):
I can't believe that's number two. I mean, it's fine,
but I'm thinking of one right now that I will
say they should be on there.

Speaker 4 (15:08):
Filmmakers tend to love that kind of thing because it's
a film noir anyways.

Speaker 2 (15:16):
Yeah, no, I get it, but you know there's actors
who but I mean Bridesmaids made the list and Anchorman
made the list.

Speaker 1 (15:22):
Site wasn't on there?

Speaker 4 (15:23):
Right?

Speaker 1 (15:24):
Oh?

Speaker 2 (15:24):
I bet parasites number one actually call my guess? And
again I haven't seen this yet either a parasite would
would That's good, that's what The other one was that
what year was Kevin Spacey? And the creepy one was
that nineteen ninety nine. That's in the nineties. Okay, but
it won the Best Picture in two thousand. What pretty?
What's it called? No Life? The Young American Beauty? Yeah,

(15:48):
American Beauty. That's a nineteen ninety nine really okay, that's why. Then. Yeah,
number one is God.

Speaker 3 (15:53):
He's always fighting for Spacey, I know, and he's like, man,
he's been so represented.

Speaker 2 (15:59):
Hey, he's higher parasite. I don't disagree. Awesome, I want.

Speaker 1 (16:08):
To watch that, seen at least three times.

Speaker 2 (16:11):
It is badass and there's nothing like it. There's so
much crap going on in that basement, just like, whoa wait,
we're doing that now? Yeah, the movie's wild. I had
only seen nineteen of these movies. Twenty. I've seen twenty
of these movies. Now you have to watch the rest
of them. You said by the end of the summer.
I think by the end of the month weekend, I thought, yeah,
the month.

Speaker 4 (16:30):
By the way, Tuesday, has anybody watched more than one
episode of The Bear yet?

Speaker 2 (16:34):
Just no one I haven't seen one.

Speaker 4 (16:35):
I watched the last episode of season three, and I
watched the first two of this season.

Speaker 2 (16:40):
And I remember why I love this series so much. Okay,
oh my god, the editing. There's just let's go. Well,
we hope everyone has a great weekend. Thank you for
hanging with us.

Speaker 4 (16:50):
I'll never forget the time that Kat looked the bear
dead in the eye and he said, oh, and then
it got really weird. Tina is going to stick around
and play some tunes right here on the Eagle.

Speaker 2 (17:02):
There you going, well, I want to get my sack backed. Dude,
a great summer that you
