Speaker 2 (00:23):
Good morning, Good Monday morning. Thank you for the sound effects.
You're listening to the bloom Daddy Experience. Thank you for
tuning in. I'm Sam, of course that who you just heard?
Speaker 3 (00:37):
Wizz it's Monday, I mean since three o'clock.
Speaker 2 (00:41):
Yeah, you said you couldn't sleep last night.
Speaker 3 (00:43):
I could sleep. I just fell asleep too early.
Speaker 2 (00:45):
Oh yes, that balance of sometimes. And then there's also
have you ever gotten too much sleep?
Speaker 3 (00:53):
Where? Never?
Speaker 2 (00:54):
Oh?
Speaker 3 (00:54):
Never?
Speaker 2 (00:56):
No? No no, do you feel like a zombie like you can't?
Speaker 3 (00:58):
Oh? I could have slept yesterday. I could have slept
a day.
Speaker 2 (01:00):
Yes, Oh I could have too. I could have too.
The weather.
Speaker 3 (01:03):
My Saturday was so busy, and I was so tired
after Saturday night, like even I even told somebody Saturday afternoon,
as I was leaving some friends of mine, and I
said I'll be asleep by eight thirty. I was probably
asleep by eight forty five. I was out I was exhausting.
Speaker 2 (01:19):
Saturday was busy everywhere, this entire valley was hopping on Saturday.
And thankfully the weather was it held out. Yes, yes
it did, because there.
Speaker 3 (01:33):
Was so much going on, there was there were so
many threats of yes, bad weather, but yet it just
seemed to not materialize.
Speaker 2 (01:42):
It kind of teased there for a minute a couple
of times, and then and then it just did. It
did not happen. So thankfully for that, none of that happened.
Speaker 3 (01:52):
You know what, we got to start the show off with,
go for it. We have to send out congratulations to
Todd Cover and the Wheeling Central Maroon Knights, who are
your West Virginia Class Double A state baseball champions. Todd
friend of the show thanks to Belmont Savings Bank. He
is their president. He's also the coach of Wheeling Central
(02:13):
head coach, right head coach. Yeah, yeah, And I've coached
against Todd. My youngest son and his oldest son are
the same age, so we coached against each other in
Pinto and we played together. We've coached together as when
they were ten years old or maybe eleven. And you know,
his son and my son played together at Wheeling Park,
(02:35):
so both graduated in twenty nineteen. His son went on
to play at mus Kingham and had a good career there.
So Eric, his son, Eric Koverer and his two sons.
I can't not, oh, Blake, Well, I know one Seth,
and I can't remember the other one. I'm so sorry.
I think it's bradlyn By, it's Bray. Okay, So Seth
(02:57):
and Bray I think, but they both played for Williings Central.
So congratulations to the Cover family. Congratulations to the Wheeling Central.
So I just want to throw that out there. It's
you know, it's hard to win a state baseball championship.
You know, you get there's a lot of you know,
especially in the smaller classes because you have more more
play in the sectionals and regionals, you know, or the
(03:19):
sectionals to get to the regional and then you have
to win the best of three and then you get
to Charleston and it's single elimination. So you know, I
think next year I read where they're going to expand
the tournament to make it a double elimination kind of
like the college world sides.
Speaker 2 (03:35):
Yeah, so huge accomplishment for the coaches, the young men
that participated, I mean.
Speaker 3 (03:40):
Huge huge college child out there.
Speaker 2 (03:42):
Yeah, huge accomplishment.
Speaker 3 (03:44):
Speaking of baseball, we're going to have your chance to
win today. We've got Washington wild Thing vouchers, which are
good for any home game. So basically what you do
is you take that, you pick the game you want
to go to. Take the vouchers to the box office.
They'll trade them out for tickets boom, you go to
the game or to have those. We're gonna be giving
those away a little bit later. And we have Pittsburgh
(04:04):
Pirate tickets for the June twentieth game against it it's
a Friday night, it's against the Texas Rangers. The wild
Things are going to be done traditionally, we're going to
do calls for that one, and the Pittsburgh Pirate tickets
we're going to do via the text line. So you're
gonna have basically in an hour and a half to register.
One register per person, and we've got a family four
(04:26):
pack for that game, so you can text your name
and phone number.
Speaker 2 (04:30):
Two three zero three eight to two.
Speaker 3 (04:33):
Started off the text off with bloom dad eactly, and
then your name and your phone number. And what we'll
do is we will at the end of the show
at the eight forty five commercial break in that area.
We will go through every go through everybody that registers,
and we will hit the randomizer and pick a winner.
Speaker 2 (04:54):
So listen, even though Mondays tend to suck, they're not
going to be with us.
Speaker 3 (04:59):
No, we've also got a High Valley Ironman tickets.
Speaker 4 (05:01):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (05:02):
High Valley Ironman started their inaugural season off.
Speaker 2 (05:05):
Yep forty five zip.
Speaker 3 (05:07):
Over Cincinnati, so good. I saw some highlights, saw some
saw some pictures on Facebook and looked like it was
a good time. I was unable to go because of
prior commitments, and but I may shoot down there this Saturday.
But we have tickets for this Saturday.
Speaker 2 (05:26):
Let's say, where can you get some tickets?
Speaker 3 (05:27):
We have them. So not only will you have your
shot to win Washington Wild Things and Pittsburgh Priate tickets today,
but you also have two shots to win a family
four pack to the High Valley Ironman.
Speaker 2 (05:38):
So basically what we're saying is we have we've got
fun stuff for you to Yes, we have the fun stuff.
And speaking of the Ironman, like I said, like we said,
they won their home home debut forty five nothing against Cincinnati,
Right Cincinnati. They also posted on their Facebook page that
they had twenty five thousand people live stream the game.
Speaker 3 (06:01):
That's a huge li I was gonna say, there's no
way they had twenty five thousand people at Monarchs Stadium.
Speaker 2 (06:05):
No, no, no, not in the stand. Wow, that stream
the game. Congrats to that. And here's one thing I've
got to show them some kudos on this. They posted
questions where they're asking they want to hear back from
you after your first experience, if you did attend, they
want to know what you liked about Saturday Saturday's game,
(06:27):
what was the favorite what was your favorite part? They
want to hear back from you as the fan. So
take the time go on Facebook and answer some of
these questions for them because they want to continue to
grow and improve not only their team on the field,
but the fan experience. So take some time go on
a High Valley Ironman Pro Football on Facebook and answer
(06:49):
some of these questions for them because they're taking the
time to ask, they're taking the time to have, you know,
have these open conversations. So take the time to to respond.
Speaker 3 (07:01):
And I want to let you know something because I
just looked at the Pirates promotional schedule. H the Friday,
June twentieth. Game is also a Zambelli fireworks night.
Speaker 2 (07:11):
Oh, fireworks night, So.
Speaker 3 (07:14):
You know it'll be you know, they'll have people there,
so it'll be it'll be a fun game. It'll be
should be a fun game. And there you have it.
Speaking of I'm surprised we have tickets for a fireworks night.
Speaker 2 (07:28):
That is unusual. Those are usually hard to come by,
so but we've got them.
Speaker 3 (07:34):
I also think it's I want to say that it's
also you know how they do like promotional day nights. Yeah,
I think it's West Virginia Day too, because that's actually
West Virginia Day.
Speaker 2 (07:44):
Oh well, then you really want these tickets. There's four
pass they have.
Speaker 3 (07:49):
Like they have wheeling, they have Wheeling Night, they have
you know, they celebrate certain things like areas. Oh of,
but it's a four pack, right, it's a family four pack.
Speaker 2 (07:58):
Okay, that's what I thought you said.
Speaker 3 (07:59):
Sam BELLI hour works Night and Texas Rangers, and you
might get to see Paul Skeen's pitch.
Speaker 2 (08:08):
And see why you can because it won't be there long.
Speaker 3 (08:11):
I will look at because he pitched yesterday, so we
will kind of look at. I'll look ahead and see like,
I'll count the games and if everything work works out right.
Speaker 2 (08:23):
Then okay, I got you, I got youa So again,
we've got plenty of things going on, but for the
Pirates tickets, since that's the most we're talking about. Three
zero three eight two is our text line. Three zero
three eight two. Start off your message with bloom Daddy,
and then we need your name and your phone number
and we'll be taking registrations for your chance to win
those all throughout the show. And then we're also gonna
(08:45):
have High Valley Ironman and Washington Wild things. So we
are we are busy.
Speaker 3 (08:51):
I'm going to guess that he's not. He's scheduled to
pitch if if everything goes as planned and no rain
outs or anything like that, he would be scheduled the
pitch of the day before. So he's at Detroit. So
if they get a rain out somebody and you know
they don't have a well as long as it's that,
they would almost have to be the nineteenth rainout and
(09:13):
then he would pitch the next day. So pray for
rain on on June teenth.
Speaker 2 (09:20):
Oh yeah, So we got a busy day ahead of
us and a lot of fun stuff for you. Didn't
even talk about I know, I mean busy is answering
the phones.
Speaker 3 (09:32):
I mean, that's okay because I mean state baseball championships.
So we did talk about.
Speaker 2 (09:37):
Though, Yes we did. We did, And when we come back,
we're gonna get into some of the heavy stuff. Post
it on our Facebook page. A couple images from the
LA riots that happened over the weekend. Pose this question,
what is your first thought when you see these images?
Just right off the top of your head, what is
your first thought? Go on our Facebook page comment, and
(09:57):
of course we're going to talk about the entire situ
situation when we get back. It is seven sixteen. You're
listening to The bloom Daddy Experience salmon Otis News Radio
eleven seventy WWVA. Welcome back seven twenty one on this Monday,
(10:19):
the bloom Daddy Experience, salmon Otis News Radio eleven seventy WWVA.
As we mentioned earlier, we're gonna have plenty of chances
for you to win, so you can register now three
zero three eighty two for your chance to win a
family four pack to see the Pittsburgh Pirates. We'll be
doing that at the end of the show, and then
throughout the show, we're going to have High Valley Ironman
and also Washington Wild Things, So stay tuned for those
(10:44):
want to hit on this. Got to bring it up,
which is of course what we have seen playing out
in Los Angeles, the riots or some people are referring
to as peaceful protests or calling on peaceful. Well, first
of all, yeah, that didn't help. That accomplished nothing. So
(11:05):
I posted some pictures on our Facebook page that come
from national news sources, images from what is happening out
in Los Angeles. Wanted first initial thoughts. Let's see here.
Rick says, mostly peaceful. Okay, Rick, I'm assuming there's some
(11:29):
sarcasm in that comment. Let's see here. Linda says, it's
it is eighteen forty six all over again. My initial thoughts.
First of all, the pictures that I posted have the
violent criminals. I'm gonna call them what they are because
(11:50):
that's what they are. They're violent criminals destroying a city,
waving a Mexican flag. Go back, go back. If that
is the flag that you are proud of, if that
is the flag that you want to waive, go back,
(12:16):
because you are on American soil. To those that are
burning the American flag during these protests. Go back. If
that's what you feel about the United States, is that
If that is what you feel about our flag, we
(12:39):
don't want you here. Simple. What amazes me are the
statements coming out by sitting officials saying, you know, we
need a peaceful protest. That's what's happening here. Mm hmm
it is not. The blame being thrown around is shocking. Shocking. Now,
(13:05):
I will ask you this and otis do you think
that calling in the two thousand National Guard was the
right decision by President Trump? Or did it flame the
(13:25):
fire of the protesters? Because that is what Newsom saying, say, yeah,
fan the flames. That is what Newsom is saying is
bringing in the National Guard just increased the situation.
Speaker 3 (13:47):
Probably a little bit of both.
Speaker 2 (13:48):
That's that I was gonna say, yes and no. It's
a bit of everything.
Speaker 3 (13:52):
You know, I I think it it you know, it's
going to irritate the left, and it has irritated the left.
But the other hand, on the other hand, does the
LA Police, this California Highway Patrol, the County Sheriff's Department,
do they have enough people to control this? The enters
(14:13):
probably know or are they willing to That's the other thing. So,
you know, I think there's I think there's a couple
of things to come into play in that. Do I
think it was necessary? Yes? Do I think that it
could entice people to do some of the things they're doing, Yes,
I do.
Speaker 2 (14:34):
So it gives them an excuse to become even more,
even more violent and extreme. Listen, this is repulsive. I'm sorry.
It seems as if whenever there's an excuse in Los
Angeles for destruction and uh looting, they go all out
for it. And what the base of this is. Immigration
(14:58):
and ICE are doing their jobs. They're doing their jobs.
If you are here illegally, you're going to be sent back.
And this entire situation is a mess that the current
administration is trying to clean up because of the open
(15:22):
borders that the Biden administration had. And I don't have
the clip, but Mayor Karen Bass yesterday stood in front
of reporters and I'm not quoting here, but she gave
examples of a man and a woman going to their
(15:43):
jobs and how it has to feel for families when
a dad who goes to work at a factory doesn't
return home because he's been deported, or a mom who
goes to take care of another family's children and she
(16:04):
doesn't return home. Could we possibly could she possibly stereotype
that mother anymore than basically calling her a maid and
a nanny who goes, takes goes and takes care of
another family's children. It's such a stereotype for an immigrant,
(16:25):
let alone an illegal immigrant. And that's the thing the
verbage being used. Let's let's not confuse this. There is
an immigrant, that is somebody who immigrates to this country
and does it properly and becomes a US citizen. Then
there is an illegal who comes across the border illegally
(16:45):
and stays here. There's a there's a very drastic distinction
between those two. So the verbiage use being used in
this conversation on this topic needs to be very scrutinized
because that's part of the messaging. But go on our
facebook page, want to hear your thoughts on these images.
(17:06):
Am I off base? Are we off base? Is it
too far? Or how does it hit you? Want to
hear from you. And of course, right now, sixty people
estimated have been arrested during these violent, violent riots. All right,
let's do it first chance this morning, on this Monday.
We're gonna kick it off early one eight hundred sixty
two four eleven seventy. What are we doing first, Otis?
(17:28):
We are doing Hioviiley Ironman one eight hundred six two
four eleven seventy. Let's do Caller number eleven. Caller number
eleven one eight hundred sixty two four eleven seventy. You're
listening to the Bloomdaddy Experience Sam and Otis News Radio
eleven seventy WWVA. Welcome back to seven thirty six. We're
(17:58):
just getting started on this the Bloom Daddy Experience Otis
and Sam News Radio eleven seventy WWVA. That music stopped
very abruptly.
Speaker 3 (18:08):
Sorry, I turned it down a little quick.
Speaker 2 (18:10):
I thought there was like a dude, it goes out anyways,
Just remind you three zero three eight two is our
text line if you want to chime in on anything
that we're talking about, or, of course, if you want
to register for your chance to win our family four
pack of tickets to see the Pittsburgh Pirates.
Speaker 3 (18:27):
June twentieth against the Texas Rangers. And it is Zambelli
Fireworks Night, so can't go wrong with that. Not only
do you get to see the Pirates play, you get fireworks. Well,
let's put it this way. You're going to see fireworks
and you get to see the Pirates play.
Speaker 2 (18:45):
Again. That number is three zero three eight two. Started
off with bloom Daddy, we.
Speaker 3 (18:48):
Have we have tickets to Zambelli fireworks in Pittsburgh. Oh,
by the way, there's a baseball game that goes with it.
Speaker 2 (18:54):
There you go, Maybe that maybe that's the better push.
Might be every time you say Zambelli, I think of
the Zambo for some reason. I don't know why. I
don't know why. Anyways, wanted to go back a little
bit on the everything happening in La so I post
it to you the images that I posted on our
Facebook page. What your first thoughts were for me when
(19:16):
I saw everything happening over the weekend. It takes me
back to the George Floyd and that terrible time in
our history. It took me back. It takes me back
to a particular interview I saw with a gentleman, an
older black gentleman who had his own small business in
(19:42):
that particular area of La What part it was, I
can't remember, but he was a small business owner. From appearance,
I would say he was in his sixties to mid sixties,
and he was in tears during this interview with this
news news channel I think it was a local, a
(20:03):
local news channel out of out of LA. He was
in tears and he just kept saying, why, why, Why
is this happening? Why are you doing this? You're not
getting your point across, And he said, everything that I
(20:23):
worked for my entire life burned to the ground, burned
to the ground. This man's entire livelihood and everything that
he worked for his entire life was destroyed, destroyed. When
(20:47):
we see instances like this, no matter the subject, whether
we're talking George Floyd, whether we're talking Ice right now,
whether we're going thirty years ago to Rodney King, what
happens is there is a group of people originally who
(21:14):
is in their minds they want to protest and be
heard as opposition to something that is happening, and those people,
I personally think, believe that they are saying and doing
(21:36):
the right thing. What happens, though, is that there are
then a mass amount of people who jump on the bandwagon,
portray themselves as folks who want to make a difference
(21:59):
and that in no way, shape or form is their
intention at all at all. They want to be the
person in the photograph that becomes iconic, like the gentleman
with the skateboard and the flag and what we're seeing
this morning. They don't even know. If you walked up
(22:22):
to ten people right now or at a lot of
these protests and ask the basic question why are you
out here, I would venture to guess five or six
would not even know, or they would have just some
(22:44):
at a left field answer that has nothing to do
with what is going on now. I am not in
any way, shape or form defending what is happening in
Los Angeles right now. What I'm getting at is the
fact that there are horrible people who jump in for
(23:10):
their own selfish purposes, whether that is like I said,
they want to be seen on television, they want to
be part of the destruction because they think it's cool
man and they think it's fun, or they want to
(23:31):
loot and steal and cause destruction. They don't know why
they're there. They have no intentions that they're fighting for
any purpose. They just want to be a part of
the violence. And for Mayor Bass and Governor Newsom, please
(23:57):
point out. The most recent peaceful protest that LA has
ever had, I can't think of one, can you? When
have we ever seen a peaceful protest in LA? What
we see is the city burn, the city burn, and
(24:19):
mayor baths. I'm sorry, she just happened to not be
on vacation this time, and now she's trying to speak
with authority and act like a mayor because she happens
to be here this time. But what we're seeing is
(24:46):
just violence for violence, and it has gotten out of control.
And I'm sorry. Did the National Guard exasperate things? Possibly? Bye?
You cannot blame the current administration number one for the
past administration's mess that they've created, and number two trying
(25:08):
to be proactive to protect the little bit of Los
Angeles that has left post the fires that they had
what four months ago, four or five months ago, and
protect somebody like the small business owner that I mentioned earlier.
(25:36):
Those are the people that I think of when I
see images like this and see the violence going on
the people that live there every day, the people that
work there every day, the people that have built their
lives there, raised their children. That's what I think of,
and in one fail swoop, violence rips everything out from
(26:03):
underneath them. Violence protesting what is being done legally to
remove people from this country that are not here legally,
So why not have more violence. That's what we're seeing.
(26:26):
And those are the folks that I think of, small
business owner, the people that go to work every day,
the people that raise their family, that buy a home
and want to have their American dream because they work
for it every day. Those are the photographs we need
(26:47):
to see. That's what we need to see. Not the
Mexican flag being flown in front of a burning vehicle
or the American flag being set on fire. No, we
need to see the pictures of the family standing in
(27:08):
front of their homes and their businesses as they watch
them torched and see the pain in their eyes. That's
what we need to see. But we won't unless you
search for it, because that doesn't get you the clicks
the violence does. Seven forty five coming up. We're gonna
(27:28):
have more chances for you to win, of course, because
we are having some fun on this Monday. Yes, we're
gonna have more chances for you to win. And of
course Pittsburgh Trireeds tickets four of them, three zero three
two is our text line, start off the message with
bloom Daddy, name and phone number, and that is your
chance to win. We'll be doing that at the end
of the show. Seven forty six. You're listening to The
bloom Daddy Experience sam and Otis News Radio eleven seventy WWVA.
(27:59):
Well it is seven fifty one on this Monday. I
see Sunshine, otis, Yes, I do, I see sunshine The
Bloomdaddy Experienced salmon Otis News Radio eleven seventy WWV eight. Well,
people are waking up. We are doing a family four
pack to the Pittsburgh Pirates June twentieth. All you have
(28:20):
to do to register three zero three eight two is
our text line three zero three eight two s. Start
off your message with bloom Daddy and then we need
your name and phone number and that will be your
registration for the Pirates. We'll be doing that at the
end of the show, and then coming up, we're going
to have your chance to win a four pack of
(28:42):
vouchers to see the Washington Wild Things. So we have
plenty of chances for you to win this morning, and
those are fun. Listen, all these games are fun. Something
I mean, you know, we hear all the time, there's
nothing to do, There's plenty to do, there is plenty
to do. It's kind of staying in the topic of sports.
(29:02):
Got to address this, gotta talk about this because this
came completely out of left field, Completely out of left field,
Simone Biles. I mean, what there where did she decide
out of nowhere that she was going to not only
(29:25):
attack Riley Gaines, but personally attack Riley Gaines. Shame on you, Simone,
Shame on you. But first of all, okay, if you're
not familiar, familiar, Simone Biles like the most decorated female
Olympic gymnast in history, amazing, amazing athlete. She was one
(29:49):
of the main reasons I continued watching the Summer Olympics
was to see her perform. Amazing talent. Probably we'll go
down as one of, if not the best, in history
at her sport. And if you know anything about gymnastics,
(30:12):
male or female, what they do and how they train
and what their body goes through is beyond most sports.
I mean, all athletes go through a lot, but what
gymnasts go through, and female gymnasts at that it's extreme.
(30:35):
It is absolutely extreme. But she decided on Friday on
social media she was going to go after Riley Gaines, which,
of course she has become the face of fighting for
the safety in the integrity of female sports because she
(30:58):
was the first to really on a national level, have
the cajones kind of contradict myself here a little bit
to speak out on it and defend women. So on Friday,
(31:18):
and we talked about this team out of Chamberlain Park
High School, the Pitcher as a boy for girls softball. Well,
they won the Class four A state championship on Friday. Well,
Riley Gaines on her podcast spoke out saying, as she
(31:41):
has been saying all along, you know this is not winning.
This is cheating. She didn't say that exactly, but roundabout
that's what this is. It's cheating. So Simone decided she
needed to throw her two cents in, completely out of
left field. She posts this all of this campaigning because
(32:07):
you lost a race. Straight up loser, she called Gaines.
She followed up by saying, you should be uplifting the
trans community and perhaps finding a way to make sports
more inclusive, or creating a new avenue where trans feel
safe in sports, maybe a transgender category in all sports.
(32:30):
But instead you bully them. One thing's for sure is
no one in sports is safe with you around. And
she closed it off by going after her physically bully
someone your own size, which would ironically be a male.
(32:52):
So she not only went after her, calling her a
bully and saying that certain people are unsafe around Gains,
she then makes fun of her physically and her height
and her build and everything else.
Speaker 3 (33:09):
Well.
Speaker 2 (33:09):
Going back to twenty seventeen, Biles made a comment on
social media saying that if men were allowed to participate
in female gymnastics, she would never win. So, which is it, simone,
and why at this point have you decided to get
(33:32):
involved in this conversation? Because there are thousands and thousands
of thousands of little girls out there, specifically gymnasts, who
I'm sure have your poster or follow you on social media,
or grew up watching your success in the Olympics and
(33:56):
national championships and dream to one day be you, or
even remotely come close to being an athlete, a female athlete.
Of your success in your caliber, you are looked up to,
and you literally just stumped and spit in the face
(34:20):
of all these young female athletes, because if you get
your way, they will never have a chance against male athletes,
So shame on you, Simone Biles, and hopefully all those
little girls that look up to you find somebody new

(34:44):
do it. One in hundred sixty two four eleven seventy
for your chance to win a four pack of vouchers
to see the Washington Wild Things on a date of
your choice. One eight hundred sixty two four eleven seventy otis,
give me a number fourteen, All right, caller number four
ten six two four eleven seventy. It's seven fifty eight
on this Monday, The bloom Daddy Experience Sam and Otis
(35:07):
News Radio eleven seventy WWVA.
Speaker 1 (35:13):
The bloom Daddy Experience on news Radio eleven seventy WWVA
starts now.
Speaker 2 (35:23):
Eight oh six. Welcome back on this Monday, The bloom
Daddy Experience, Sam and Otis News Radio, eleven seventy WWVA.
Congrats tow PJ our winter this morning for Washington Wild Things.
Congrats PJ. Kind of sticking along the lines of well,
we're not done yet. By the way, We're gonna have
(35:44):
another chance for you to win. Wheeling Ironman tickets here
a little bit later in this hour, high val Iron,
what did I say say wheeling?
Speaker 3 (35:52):
Oh? God, man, he gets a little, he gets a little.
Speaker 2 (35:57):
I'm sorry. Yeah, I'm just gonna start saying the iron Man.
That's just what I'm gonna do, and we're gonna have that.
And then also right now you can register on our
text line via text line which the number is three
zero three eight to two. Start off the message with
bloom Daddy, need your name and phone number, and that
will be your registration for your chance to win four
(36:19):
tickets on June twentieth to see the.
Speaker 3 (36:24):
Fireworks Pirates and Texas Rangers. And it's also a fireworks night, so.
Speaker 2 (36:29):
Yes, you know they always being snarky.
Speaker 3 (36:32):
Yeah, the Pirates always put on a good fireworks show,
so you know that's normally the better show of the evening.
Speaker 2 (36:40):
What are you comparing that to what's on the field.
Speaker 3 (36:44):
No, yes, okay, yes, I mean they did sweep the
Phillies so over the weekend, so Friday Saturday's tough. They've
lost nine out of their last ten, so well, okay,
they're on a little bit of a slump.
Speaker 2 (36:56):
Okay, well yeah, but anyway, yes, we have that three
zero three eight two, which is our text line staying
along sports. Did you see this otis on Friday the
new judgment with college sports. It will bringing in a
new era of revenue sharing and roster limits. So now
(37:20):
with this new judgment again that happened on Friday, it
clears the way for schools to begin paying their athletes
millions as soon, beginning as soon as next month, as
the multi billion dollar industry shreds the last I guess
images of being an amateur sports league. The NCAA hasn't
(37:44):
been an amateur sports league for years. Well. Now this
new settlement includes the approval for each school, each school
to share up to twenty point five million with athletes
over the next year and two point seven billion that
will be paid over the next decade to thousands of
(38:05):
former players who were barred from that revenue for years.
So now on top of the nil money, there is
this aspect of things. Now. One attorney, of course for
the athletes says that this is a fantastic win for
hundreds of thousands of college athletes, but for the fans
(38:30):
in the schools and the coaches, the question is is
this good for college sports? You know you and I
we have debated multiple times otis how the NIL money
has affected college sports along with the transfer portal. Now
(38:51):
you add this into it, why let's not even call
it college sports anymore. Just call it the farm late
league into the pros. It's just a mini version of
the pros. Depending on the sports you're talking about. I mean,
(39:12):
of course, my mind goes directly to football.
Speaker 3 (39:15):
Some of these kids are going to make more money
in college than what wasn't as a professional, right because
they they may not make the cut as a professional.
Speaker 2 (39:25):
Okay, So then the argument to that is, does this
give the ability for additional athletes to make money off
of their athletic capabilities at the stage that they're at
if they are not top level? So does this give
(39:47):
more options to athletes who may not be as good
as getting into say the NFL, but they're still respectfully
really good athletes and should be compensated for it.
Speaker 3 (40:01):
I mean, the rich are going to get richer, that's
only that's the easiest way to put it. I mean,
does your average I mean, so, in other words, let's
say you have a quarterback that's making three million dollars
a year in NIL money. Realistically, you can say to him, look,
you're making your nil money. Let us get you an
(40:23):
offensive line that's going to block for you and possibly,
you know, put you into a Heisman candidacy and improve
your draft pick because the offensive linemen probably aren't getting
a ton of nil money. So the quarterback says, okay,
I'll take I'll only take a half a million dollars.
I want you to give each lineman a million dollars
(40:45):
and then go out and get the five best linemen
for me. Okay. So I mean again, the rich will
get richer. I mean, it's just your parody in sports
will no longer. There will be no more parody. Like
you will not see the mid majors. You know, you
just won't see it because they can't compete now like
(41:08):
EA sports, what I saw over the weekend. So what
is it? College? The college football whatever? The game that
they play the equivalent of Madden Elliotts college football. So
what they're doing is they're going to do a revenue sharing.
So in other words, if you play, so let's say
let's say a million people play Ohio State and let's
(41:32):
say they get it, They'll get a million dollars because
it's say it's one dollar for everybody that plays that team.
Let's say WVU gets five hundred thousand, so WVU would
get five hundred thousand dollars. If you do Kent State
and there's five five people that play Kent State, well
they're going to get five dollars. You see what I'm saying.
(41:53):
And I saw where Kent State said, everybody log gone
played Kent State as often as you can because this
is the only way we can compete.
Speaker 2 (42:01):
So well, I mean, I just State's part.
Speaker 3 (42:06):
I think. I mean, they're they're just setting it up
for the rich to get richer. And so your Alabama's
you're a highest state, your Notre Dames, your Michigan's, your
U s c's, you're Texas, uh, you know, Florida Florida State,
you know, the Georgia's l s U, all the big
all the big time programs are just going to reap
(42:29):
more money to pay more people. And your your smaller
teams and say, you know, whether you know maybe a
Mid America Conference or you know their Division one, you know,
you just might as well just throw them out because
they can't compete. Findan Cincinnati Xavier, you know some of
(42:52):
these other schools they're they're not gonna they can't compete
financially with those other schools.
Speaker 2 (42:57):
Well, and and along with that product is this going
to put on the field also?
Speaker 3 (43:04):
Well, and you know you're gonna have prima donnas more
so than you do in college in college sports now,
because they're gonna say, well, okay, so I was going
to come to this school, but this school offered me
another five hundred thousand dollars, so I'm going to go there.
Speaker 2 (43:22):
It puts all the puts all the.
Speaker 3 (43:23):
So in basketball, who's going to get Richard Duke North Carolina?
You know, it's just it's gonna be the the rich're
going to get richer, And that's what it's going to be.
Speaker 2 (43:34):
Well and then okay, just recently, take take the NFL
Draft and take a lot of the reports that we
heard about Shador Sanders and why he dropped in the draft.
A lot of that had to do with the allegations
or the speculation of his interview process, his attitude, his
(44:00):
amadawn is, as you put it earlier, what will that
then do? What type of athlete is this going to
create at the college level? How is that going to
change their person out? Yeah?
Speaker 3 (44:17):
Because here's the thing. You may not make it at
the next level.
Speaker 2 (44:20):
You may not make it at the next level, but
it also may turn you into somebody, may turn the
athlete into somebody that they're not, so then that hurts
their perspectives going into the pros. You know, I mean,
it's it's I don't know. And then you take into
the coaching and who actually has control of the team
and who has the leadership. It's out of the hands
(44:42):
of the coaches. It's out of the hands of the schools.
It's in the hands of the athletes now. And how's
that going to affect what we see on the field?
We'll see I don't know. I don't know. I think
it's just I think it hurts college sports period. I
really do, I really do. It's eight to fifteen teen.
It is eight fifteen. We get back. We're gonna have
(45:03):
more chances for you to win. Don't forget three zero
three eight two, which is our text line. Three zero
three eight two started off with bloom Daddy your name
and phone number, and that will be your entry for
your chance to win four tickets to see the Pittsburgh
Pirates June twentieth. You're listening to The bloom Daddy Experience,
samon Otis News Radio, eleven seventy WWVA. Welcome back. It's
(45:33):
eight twenty one, The bloom Daddy Experience, salmon Otis News Radio,
eleven seventy WWVA. I asked for a clip. He didn't
have one for me. It's National Donald Duck Day.
Speaker 3 (45:44):
Who ray.
Speaker 2 (45:45):
I was gonna try and do it, do an impression,
but I'm not going to even attempt to do an impression.
Speaker 3 (45:51):
I did one when I was a kid. I'm done.
I can't do it anymore.
Speaker 2 (45:57):
I can't.
Speaker 3 (45:57):
Yeah, maybe our buddy Kevin can do it. Kevin, can
you do a Donald Duck imitation?
Speaker 4 (46:02):
Uh? No, sadly no.
Speaker 3 (46:07):
Even if you could, you're telling us no.
Speaker 4 (46:09):
Once again. I disappoint you.
Speaker 3 (46:12):
No, No, not at all. I don't want to do
it either.
Speaker 4 (46:17):
They had I just kept a buddy that could do it.
I mean, of course everybody had that one guy in
class that could. You know, Oh yeah, we could do
all the impressions and cut up and all that good
stuff make every body laugh.
Speaker 3 (46:27):
But yeah, yeah, what makes us laugh today is straw automotives.
Speaker 4 (46:32):
How about let's go for uh it's employee Appreciation months Okay,
we've talked about it. I know a little bit. Yeah,
a lot of dealerships in the month of June will
have customer appreciation but you know, truth be told, you know,
every month is customer appreciation mark all right. I mean,
you know, we're doing everything we can to you know,
make every customer's out there happy. Well, in the June
(46:55):
about ten years ago, the Straw Automotive Group decided that
we were going to have Employee Appreciateation months. So every
day in the month of June, we recognize our two
hundred and fifty employees and we try to do something special.
We got you know, we've got games we're playing. We've
got prizes that that they can win every day. We
got food trucks. We also have employee pricing for everyone, okay,
(47:20):
throughout the entire month. You pay what we pay, all right.
We've got special discount qponds. We've got all kinds of
great stuff going on right now during Employee Appreciation Months
because we're we truly could not do this without the
uh men and women and guys and girls that get
up every day and come in here and try to
make this a special place for our customers and.
Speaker 3 (47:42):
You have great employees, I will say that way.
Speaker 4 (47:45):
We really do. Man, we have our outstanding style and
one of the things that measures that is a customer
satisfaction index that all of the manufacturers, you know, they
you've all gotten the surveys and you know the Google
reviews and Yelp, Facebook, and we have the Straw Automotive
Group has the highest Google reviews in the market. We
(48:06):
have the best Facebook reviews, we have the best CSI
customer satisfaction indexes throughout the manufacturers. They really do an
outstanding job each and every day, and we are truly
grateful for all of them.
Speaker 3 (48:21):
That's awesome.
Speaker 4 (48:22):
It is awesome. So come on out telling them how
great they are today while you're buying a new car,
getting service done or parts, just to tell them, hey,
it's really cool that you know, the Strive family and
the Fatal family appreciates everyone and we're just again, very
very grateful for everyone who gets something comes to work
here every day.
Speaker 3 (48:39):
And if there's a food truck at Straw Automotive while
you're shopping, you're more than welcome to more hit the
absolutely hit the food truck.
Speaker 4 (48:45):
Shouldn't have said that otis will be here around then.
Speaker 3 (48:48):
I just don't know where which one they're going to
be at. What they gotta chase them.
Speaker 4 (48:51):
Down on Facebook? Yeah, they launched it on face. I
think they faced it on Facebook every day. And it's
not just this ice cream trucks and food trucks.
Speaker 2 (48:58):
And ice cream. You're speaking my language.
Speaker 4 (49:03):
There many gods.
Speaker 3 (49:06):
Hey, we'll talk tomorrow. All right, we'll see you there.
You have it.
Speaker 2 (49:11):
It is making me hungry drugs.
Speaker 3 (49:12):
I mean I could do that.
Speaker 2 (49:15):
Oh yeah, you used to. You come across a good
food truck? Mm, there's we actually have. We have a
couple of really good ones around here. Sure, there's a
I can't think of it right now.
Speaker 3 (49:25):
There's a taco one spicy gringo.
Speaker 2 (49:28):
Yes, yellow? Is it yellow? Yeah? That's yeah, that's a
really good one. Okay, I'm probably gonna regret, regret, probably
gonna regret asking you this question. What annoys you the most?
Speaker 3 (49:51):
Wait, we only have four minutes before the break, so
I don't know if we can really hit them all.
I think it really depends. I mean, what are we
talking about? Like, are we talking about people or are
we talking about It's real?
Speaker 2 (50:02):
It's real. Basic. It says there's a recent polled Nune
it says what annoys Americans the most, and it was
done on behalf of a particular c B d FX
and it's I think it's about humans. So the number
one thing is unexpected guests.
Speaker 3 (50:26):
I can think of other things that really, I don't
think that annoys me.
Speaker 2 (50:29):
No.
Speaker 3 (50:32):
I had a colleage roommate who I like, Okay, don't
get me wrong, but really annoyed me when we lived
together because he would chew with these mouth open.
Speaker 2 (50:41):
I was gonna say, loud chewing mouth breathers. God, I
can't see that.
Speaker 3 (50:47):
And so like, it got to the point where I
finally said something to him, and it kind of put
our relationship on hl's there was. Yeah, So when we
didn't live together, we were fine. When we lived together,
it was it was.
Speaker 2 (51:03):
A little little testy. There was a person I knew
many years ago in college also, and he did not
chew with his teeth. He chewed by mashing his food
on the roof of his mouth with his tongue. I've
(51:25):
never seen anything like it before. I haven't seen anything
like it since, but did it with his mouth open.
It was the weirdest thing, and it was so loud.
It's like he gummed his food with his tongue. It
was it was just, it was bizarre. It was absolutely bizarre.
And I remember thinking myself, if he ever gets married,
(51:46):
I really hope his wife teaches him how to chew
food properly because his parents failed. H It was just,
it was strange. Some of the other things that people
in this poll said slow, wi fi, loud, chewing, heavy breathing,
mouth breeders. That's what I said. Let's see here, what
are some of them. Oh, those were the top ones.
(52:08):
Those were the top Those were the top. So I'm
surprised you didn't say anything about me.
Speaker 3 (52:14):
I'd say I was saving it.
Speaker 2 (52:17):
Maybe we'll save that till Friday.
Speaker 3 (52:19):
I mean people that use incorrect English more than I
mean that. That's just a pet peeve of mine. So
like the crick No, that doesn't bother me. Oh okay, okay, No,
little things like wrong verb tenses, oh well, yeah, dangling prepositions,
things like that.
Speaker 2 (52:40):
Sometimes you get worked up and things don't come out
the way they're intended to your.
Speaker 3 (52:44):
Chance to win High Valley Ironman tickets right now, Coller
number fifteen, All right.
Speaker 2 (52:50):
Caller number fifteen, one hundred sixty two four eleven seventy
Coller number fifteen one hundred sixty two four eleven seventy
for your chance to win four tickets to see the
High Valley Ironman. You're listening to the bloom Daddy Experience.
(53:12):
Welcome back at day thirty six The bloom Daddy Experience
Sam and Otis News Radio eleven seventy WWVA. Just a reminder,
you have until the end of this break. Okay, till
the end of this break to register for your chance
to win a family four pack of Pittsburgh Pirate tickets
on to go see the team on June twentieth. Again,
(53:35):
you have until the end of this break. The number
is three zero three eight to two. Start the message
off with bloom Daddy and then we need your name
and your phone number, and that is your registration.
Speaker 3 (53:47):
Taking on the Texas Rangers on Friday the twentieth. I
also believe it's West Virginia Day at the ballpark and
fireworks night, so lots of different things going on with
the Pirates. And if you get a rain out on
the nineteenth, the day before in Chicago, then you should
be able to see Paul Skins page but unless there's
a rain out, you're probably not gonna see it.
Speaker 2 (54:07):
Either way, you could make a night of it. Sure,
we have a great time. So again that is up
until the end of this break, we will be taking
registrations three zero, three, eight to two. Start off with
bloom Daddy name and fun number.
Speaker 3 (54:19):
Once the commercial starts, it's cut off.
Speaker 2 (54:22):
It's done so because we will immediately start counting and
going through everything. So there there is your warning. Speaking
of our text line, got this message in regards to
our conversation about college sports, says there is serious talk
of two super conferences, the Big Ten in the SEC
comprising from anywhere from forty to forty eight teams, a
(54:46):
separate classification and national championship may maybe not even in
the NCAA. It's like jump on board or get left behind.
It stinks. I have not heard that before. Have you
heard that?
Speaker 3 (55:00):
Actually? I think twenty fifteen or sixteen, I came up
with an idea and it's it's on my iPad, my
old iPad. Okay of of a kind of like a
super conference type deal where basically you take the top
sixty Division one programs, let them play regionally, and then
(55:26):
you know, and I broke it into the I broke
it down into regions, like six regions or maybe seven regions.
Uh with it like with I think it was eight
teams in a region, eight teams in a region or
a division, and then that would get you your eight teams.
You take each winner from that region and they move
on to the playoffs. Okay, so you know, you would
(55:47):
play every team in your region or your division, and
then you would have brandom you know, outside your for
TV purposes and you know, for whatever. Uh. And you
wouldn't like you can't play a like Towson State or
if you're if you're if you're a higher state, you
can't play Youngstown State or or one of those teams,
(56:08):
and you know, or you know, so you would have
and then separate the next group into their own thing so.
Speaker 2 (56:15):
That it would be comparable size schools competing, you know, like.
Speaker 3 (56:21):
You know, you would you would try to keep rivalries.
So like a highest state Michigan would be in the
same region, uh, West Virginia, pitt Penn State in the
same region, probably in the same region as Ohio State.
Cincinnati would be in there, you know. And then you
got to look and see where where do you draw
the line on on like who doesn't make the cut?
(56:43):
And then you know what what I said is you
take the bottom five or bottom ten teams, and if
somebody outperforms at the next level and underperforms in this level,
then they switch places. So in other words, say somebody
like yeah Marshall, say Marshall gets left out, but say
Cincinnati doesn't perform well, so then maybe they switch. Cincinnati
(57:03):
goes to the lower level, Marshall moves up to the
upper level.
Speaker 2 (57:06):
I think a lot of this changing and flip flopping
and the money that's being tossed around, I think it's
gonna leave a bad taste with a lot of people, unfortunately.
And I think it's good. And then I mean, we
haven't even spoken about, of course, the top two sports
(57:29):
that everybody focuses on when it comes to this conversation
is football and basketball. We're not even talking about or
considering the the financial impact that it may have on
field hockey or soccer, or or.
Speaker 3 (57:42):
Women's sports in general, or women's right track tennis.
Speaker 2 (57:45):
Right, you know, you know, are they going to be
thrown some scraps of this money? You know that's offensive too,
you know, that's not a good look either.
Speaker 3 (57:56):
But and where do you draw the line. I mean,
because like if you're in Division two or Division three,
you can do an il money too, But I mean,
what are you going to make because like let's say
like West Liberty or Wheeling University their Division two I mean,
they're not going to make the same money that you
know a guy a WVU or a High State's gonna
make it. Or Michigan or Syracuse or Pitt or wherever. Well.
Speaker 2 (58:18):
I mean, and say you're walking on the campus of
Ohigh Estate and the quarterback is driving a Lambeau and
you know has all this money because he's the quarterback
of the High State Buckeyes. And then you have the
starting center for the girls basketball team and she's still
(58:40):
living in a dormitory and is getting nothing.
Speaker 3 (58:43):
And you're walking to and front class, right, who works.
Speaker 2 (58:47):
Just as hard as at her sport, but because it's
not football, doesn't get the same recognition unfortunately. And but
that's just I hate to say it, but that's the
way it is. And that's not the right that's not
the right answer to this conversation. But that's where the
money is is in football and basketball. You know, so
(59:10):
how do you.
Speaker 3 (59:13):
Make it equal football at a highest state. It's gonna
be more basketball at Duke in North Carolina, you know, right,
you know, it's going to be more basketball at Syracuse.
It's going to be more basketball at you know, certain schools.
It's going to be more football at other schools. It
could be fifty to fifty in some schools, you know.
Speaker 2 (59:29):
But what you're talking about are the male versions. Absolutely, Yeah,
that's that's where the money is.
Speaker 3 (59:35):
I mean, unless you see somebody like a Page Buckers
or a Caitlyn Clark coming to your school, they're not
your You know, Livy Dunn in gymnastics. Levy dumb makes
her own money. You know, she doesn't need she doesn't
need money from the university because she's making enough.
Speaker 4 (59:51):
On her own.
Speaker 2 (59:51):
Well, speaking of Caitlyn Clark, she's been out of course
with an injury. Not that I follow the w NBA
in any way, shape or form, but she's been out
with an n and the one girl ah what is
her name? Now? Yes, of course, tickets to the game
without Caitlyn Clark have dropped to three dollars a ticket.
Speaker 3 (01:00:13):
Yeah that was last week.
Speaker 2 (01:00:15):
Yeah, but Kaitlyn.
Speaker 3 (01:00:17):
Clark's not the JA Yeah. Yeah, and Angel Reese I
think had four points twelve. Like it showed her getting
the ball first off, she missed a shot, she got
her own rebound, missed that, yes, and fouled on it.
You know, so you know, if they're trying and she
thinks that. The other thing that that is allegedly out there,
and I'm going to say allegedly, is that she said
(01:00:38):
that if Kitlyn Clark's on Team USA, to remove her forever.
She doesn't want to play for Team USA if Kitlyn
Clark's on the team. So if that's the case, if
that's actually what she said, see you later. Yeah, Because
Kitlin Clark's going to be the draw. She's she's the
Michael Jordan, she's the Lebron James, she's the Larry Bird,
(01:00:59):
she's the Magic Johnson. She's the draw.
Speaker 2 (01:01:03):
So and and why doesn't she like her?
Speaker 3 (01:01:09):
Yeah, you can answer that on your own.
Speaker 2 (01:01:11):
I'm uggling to Yeah, draw your own conclusions with that one.
It happened, It works both ways. I'll leave it at that.
Some good news. We haven't heard from this guy in
a while. He's decided to visit US. Jeff Bezos Mega
wedding is. It's just around the corner. I hope you
got your dress, And like the average groom to be,
(01:01:32):
he's making last minute preparations. The Amazon evil Genius is
here to share some of those details.
Speaker 5 (01:01:41):
I have, Jeff Bezos hard to believe. We're just days
away from our modest little wedding. Like any average run
of the mid couple, We're doing last minute stuff, you know,
like signing the quarter trillion dollar prenuptial agreement, making sure
friends like the trumpson musks of r SV Pede, and
(01:02:03):
you know, rearranging the seating chart. Oh, only thing left
is the old, something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue.
I'll work backwards. The blue can be a Blue Origin spacecraft.
I suppose I can borrow a friends support yacht. Oh
(01:02:25):
and the old and new part. Oh, I got it.
Leonardo DiCaprio and his plus one.
Speaker 2 (01:02:35):
Killed two birds with one stone.
Speaker 3 (01:02:37):
There, hatch out.
Speaker 2 (01:02:42):
Hatch out the seating arrangement joke. I was like, Oh,
I got a joke. No, he already had it. He
already had it.
Speaker 3 (01:02:50):
That's why he's Jeffson, He's the evil.
Speaker 2 (01:02:53):
Genius, along with Kirk Porterfield. That's what I call him
recently evil genius.
Speaker 3 (01:02:59):
She said that I didn't.
Speaker 2 (01:03:00):

evil genius. Oh all right, it is eight forty six.

Speaker 2 (01:04:11):
YEP.
Speaker 3 (01:04:12):
So congratulations to Todd, his two sons and the Wheeling
Central Marine Knights.
Speaker 2 (01:04:17):
Huge accomplishment.
Speaker 3 (01:04:17):
Absolutely, they'll never forget it.
Speaker 2 (01:04:19):
They'll never forget it.
Speaker 3 (01:04:20):
Just playing in it, you never forget it. Yeah, my
son's played. My son got to play in it twice,
played in the finals and got beat, and then played
in the semis and got beat the next year. So
but it's it's it's an experience. You get your name
on the you know, your name and picture up on
the scoreboard, just like the the big leagues, and it's
a they do it right, you know for the most part.
Speaker 2 (01:04:42):
Where they travel to to play Charleston Okay.
Speaker 3 (01:04:44):
They play at the Charleston I forget the name of
the park. It's changed names so many times, but it's
where the it's where the minor league ball team plays,
so that Charleston Dirty Birds play there, the dirty Birds, dirty.
Speaker 2 (01:04:55):
Birds, that's a good name. Well, there's there's the memories
you make on the field, but when you're traveling like that,
it's the car rides the bus rides, what goes on
in the hotel. I mean you remember all that stuff too.
That stuff's an absolute blast.
Speaker 3 (01:05:06):
We were, we were outlaws when we played. We used
we used to travel to Logan, West Virginia. That the
ara Cooma, the hotel that we stayed in. What was
it called the ara Coma, which is an Indian name
of the people, you know, native to the area. Okay,
They had drop ceilings and you had to watch where
you like if you popped out a piece of the
(01:05:28):
drop ceiling because there was normally empty beer cans and
bottles and from previous years in the drop ceilings by
your year, Oh yes, absolutely no, I didn't take it. Well,
I was smart enough. What I did was, at the
time I was wearing contact lenses. So what I would
do is I would fill up my sailing solution bottles.
I would keep old sailing solution bottles and fill them
(01:05:49):
up with whatever the drink of choice was at the time,
which was either vodka or rum, so it would look
like sailing solution.
Speaker 2 (01:05:56):
Not that this is a recommendation to anybody out there,
a young out there listening.
Speaker 3 (01:06:01):
But one of the best ones was my my senior
year two sophomores were rooming together and it was February
and it was like ninety degrees. I mean, it was
just brutally hot. Nobody dressed for the occasion or anything
like that. And so they had they had winterized all
the air conditioning units, so because they were just in
window units, so you couldn't turn the air conditioning on
(01:06:23):
and it would it wouldn't work. So these two guys
decided that they would open the window. And they were
on the third or fourth floor, maybe a little higher,
I don't know. And as they opened the window, the
air conditioner decided to make a trip to the sidewalk
where it was exactly nice. It bounced off the sidewalk
(01:06:45):
and landed on somebody's car.
Speaker 2 (01:06:47):
Oh that could kill somebody, and it could have.
Speaker 3 (01:06:51):
It could have very easily. And uh oh that that
created some issues that that year. So not only the
person that owned the car, oh you know, and that
hotel was blaming the kids and the coach and but
it was definitely an interesting It was definitely an interesting
weekend is.
Speaker 2 (01:07:10):
Say weeks yikes, so yeah, that's not not sue.
Speaker 3 (01:07:17):
And then we also played a basketball game.
Speaker 2 (01:07:19):
So Jesus wise, okay, Yeah, that's a memory. That's definitely
a memory. How about some good news. So there's as
Wisconsin Girl Scout Troop I'm sorry herself, who has a
new state record for the most cookies sold the Badgerland
Girl Scouts say Mollie uh Linus of Madison sold thirty
(01:07:42):
five thousand, five hundred and ninety eight boxes over her
thirteen years as a Girl Girl Scout. Her family also
set a record with more than sixty four thousand boxes
sold by two siblings.
Speaker 3 (01:07:57):
Wow.
Speaker 2 (01:07:57):
She received a Gold War Award Girl Scout and plans
to study engineering and math at Iowa State University.
Speaker 3 (01:08:04):
You got to go in to sales.
Speaker 2 (01:08:06):
Yeah, really, underachiever? I mean come on now, Wow, I
got kicked out of Brownie so I didn't even have
a chance.
Speaker 3 (01:08:12):
That doesn't surprise me.
Speaker 2 (01:08:13):
I did. I smashed some girls popsicle.
Speaker 3 (01:08:15):
Do you want to be a part of a world record.
You can be in the Guinness Book of World Records.
I think I am part of a world record if
it still stands Okay, No.
Speaker 2 (01:08:25):
I don't do anything fancy enough to get in those.
Speaker 3 (01:08:28):
All you have to do is head up to Greensburg.
Okay this weekend because the Greensburg Business and Professional Association
is looking to put the community in the record books
this coming weekend. They're gonna be using a whole lot
of bubblegum. So the organization is looking for at least
twelve hundred volunteers to attempt to break the record for
most people blowing bubblegum bubbles simultaneously. The current record is
(01:08:50):
eight hundred and eighty one people. The attempt to schedule
for Saturday in downtown Greensburg.
Speaker 2 (01:08:56):
Now, do you bring your own bubble gum or do
they provide a.
Speaker 3 (01:08:58):
Certain would say take your own, just to be safe, Okay,
but if they supply it, then more power.
Speaker 2 (01:09:04):
To sponsorship opportunity.
Speaker 3 (01:09:08):
Or bazuka bazuka any you know, there's all kind of
big league chew bubble gum.
Speaker 2 (01:09:17):
I liked big league chew.
Speaker 3 (01:09:18):
Yeah, yeah, I don't even know if they make hubbabubba anymore.
Speaker 2 (01:09:22):
No, but they make bubble tape. Remember that one.
Speaker 3 (01:09:24):
Yep, that was a good one. Yeap.
Speaker 2 (01:09:26):
So that was a good one.
Speaker 3 (01:09:27):
So just if you want to head up to Greensburg,
So there you go.
Speaker 2 (01:09:31):
And if you're single, and if.
Speaker 3 (01:09:33):
You break the record, you could you actually have the
opportunity to purchase a certificate and a copy of the
Guinness Booker World Records that you are in if you
were part of the the winning of the group. So
I didn't do that one. We broke our record.
Speaker 2 (01:09:49):
That would be cool to hang up here in the
studio world record holder of something.
Speaker 3 (01:09:53):
Ours was most transplant recipients in one place.
Speaker 2 (01:09:57):
Oh, that's cool.
Speaker 3 (01:09:58):
We did that in twenty eighteen and Salt Lake City.
Speaker 2 (01:10:00):
That's cool.
Speaker 3 (01:10:01):
So I don't know if it's been broken since then.
Speaker 2 (01:10:04):
So that's pretty impactful too. I mean, that's a that's
a statement, not just blowing bubbles, not to understood, not
to minimize.
Speaker 3 (01:10:11):
Oh it doesn't matter what the record is if you're
a part of it. Yeah, but somebody is always gonna
they're out to beat you.
Speaker 2 (01:10:16):
And some of the things that are out there are
crazy that people come come up with. But either way,
we're done. We are out of here on this Monday.
Enjoy yours. We're gonna enjoy ours into all our winners. Congrats.
We will be talking to you. Hey, we'll be back tomorrow.
Talk to you then,
