Speaker 1 (00:01):
Indeed number one Tuck show in the Ohio Valley. This
is the bloom Daddy Experience. Your host, bloom Daddy. His
goal inform, entertain and tick people off. The bloom Daddy
Experience on news Radio eleven seventy. WWVA starts now the
bloom Daddy Experience.
Speaker 2 (00:22):
It's seven oh six on news radio eleven seventy. All right,
so you've seen the riding, you've seen the violence, You've
seen it all about seven other marines, three International Guard
members try to control protests against the federal illegal immigration raids.
Everybody seems to be leaving that word out when talking
about this. You've got Gavin Newsom basically telling borders our
(00:44):
Tom Holm and yeah, yeah, come arrest me, you know,
come on, big guy, come get me. You've got Mayor
Karen Bass saying we didn't need the National Guarden here.
You've got all this stuff going on, and in the meantime,
you've got Trump doing what I believe he should be doing.
Let's bring on Jim or Ac, former Congressman, Bloom Daddy
Show political analyst Jim before we get into the nuts
and bolts of this. Rachel Maddow, who's the left's beacon
(01:07):
of hope, even though she was totally wrong on everything
pertaining to the twenty twenty four election. And I don't
even know if more than six people watch her anymore.
This is a quote about what's going on in LA.
Speaker 3 (01:17):
This is what she said.
Speaker 2 (01:19):
Even if these protests were one hundred times the size
they are, there still wouldn't be an operational reason to
bring in active duty troops or federalized national Guard. What
world is she living in, Jim one hundred times what
it is she's saying, one hundred times what's going on
(01:40):
right now, still would not necessitate bringing in the national Guard.
Speaker 4 (01:45):
Right, well, bloom daddy. Look, there's always going to be
two opinions on everything. You got the right and the
left opinion. The left is saying that the national Guard
should not be called in and left the states call
them in. You know what's interesting is that that's a
state's rights issue, and it's not that often that the
left agrees with the states rights issue, but that's what
(02:07):
they're trying to claim. Of course, this will be a lawsuit,
this will be contested. It'll be interesting to see because
the president has three reasons that he can step in
and the question is as to whether one of those three,
you know, he has the authority. Now, the authority that
(02:28):
he's claiming is because they are going after ice agents
and they are going after a federal building, and I
do believe that that gives him the authority to protect
that federal building if the state and the county and
the city and is not you know, providing that protection.
(02:49):
So it's going to come down to does he have
the authority or doesn't, And it's going to be a
legal interpretation. But clearly I don't think anybody should be
agreeing with the riots. I don't think anybody should agree
with what's going on, and we should have law and
order in the streets of whether it's La Cleveland, Akron,
(03:11):
whatever town it is. So the question is really going
to be and by the way, Boom Daddy and I
tell this to a lot of people, it's going to
be for the future too, because you got to remember,
if we agree that President Trump has this authority, we
also have to be careful that when there's a Democrat president,
which there will be. I know, people tell me that's
never going to happen. There will be some day then
(03:34):
he or she's going to have that same authority as well.
So these are all the tests that I think we
need to walk through and be prepared for.
Speaker 3 (03:42):
Here here's the other angle to this, Jim.
Speaker 2 (03:44):
You hear democrats say, well, you know, this shows how
upset people are over ICE and getting rid of illegal
criminals and this and that. But is it really because
these people that are pillaging, that are that are being violent,
that are stealing to me, they're not protesting anything. They're
(04:04):
seeing opportunity. This is just an opportunity for them to
go in. They're they're they're thieves, They're petty thieves who
just sense an opportunity. They don't stand for anything other
than theft.
Speaker 4 (04:21):
Well, look, I would agree with you, and and you know,
let's face it, this is something the city, the county,
and the state should be protecting. They should be protecting first.
I'm a big states rights advocate. I believe the states
should have the opportunity. But clearly we have a situation
here where the state and the county and the city
(04:42):
we're not protecting ICE members and they were not protecting
a federal building. So that's the authority that President Trump has.
But we always have to be cautious when we allow
the federal authority to step in where local authority should be.
So that's the only warning I give. But I would
one hundred percent agree with you. These people are not
(05:05):
they are criminals. They are doing damage there. It's not
a peaceful protest, and because of that, I do think
the president should step in and protect the federal building
and the federalizations.
Speaker 2 (05:17):
Tell you a Jim or Acy, former Congressman Bloomdaddy Show
political analyst, Let's take it a step further, Jim, we
saw what happened back in twenty twenty and all these
democratic led cities, these mayors, these governors let stuff get
so out of control that millions of dollars of property damage,
people lost businesses, people lost lives. That's exactly what would
(05:40):
happen in LA. Don't you agree if Trump didn't make
this move because we've seen it before, We've seen the playbook,
we knew where this was going.
Speaker 4 (05:52):
Well, and one hundred percent agree. And let's face it,
we even had that in Ohio. We had Cleveland that
was another downtown Columbus downtown destroyed. And at those times
the president did not step in. The governor lightly stepped in.
Governor dwined, but Again, this is why I say there's
a process. Nobody should be allowed to commit a crime,
(06:15):
Nobody should be allowed to destroy property, destroy a building,
and we do need law and order. I give President
Trump credit for saying, even if those people are and
even if there's an attorney out there that says that
President Trump overstepped his bounds, I think in the end,
he's doing it for the right reasons. He's doing it
for law and order, and we need to have this done.
(06:37):
We should be a country and a state, and our
cities should abide by law and order. So it'll be
interesting to see what the courts say on this, but
I do think he's going to be able to spand
to have that authority because they were attacking, you know,
federalized agents and a federal building. And I keep repeating
that because I think if they were just attacking any
(06:58):
old city and any old building, that probably would be
an issue to have the federal government step in. But
in this case, I do believe he has that authority.
Speaker 2 (07:09):
All right, Jim, last question, is this just what the
Republican Party needed to get back It's mojo after the
bag elon Musk Donald Trump dust up.
Speaker 4 (07:17):
It's funny. He said that because I have said that
President Trump has the ability to make let's face it is.
His approval rating is over fifty percent when it comes
to immigration, when it comes to ice, when it comes
to everything he's doing. So he now has control of
the message in this move. What people are forgotten about
(07:38):
is we have a big, beautiful bill that's that's being
fought over right now. We've got a whole bunch of
tariffs that nobody's talking about. And I got to give
President Trump credit the political the politics is that he
is now doing what's necessary to divert people from talking
(07:59):
about those other things while he's doing what's right for
the country. And it's it's definitely something that Republicans can
win on. It's definitely something that's going to hurt Democrats.
But like I tell you, every time we're on a
show of politics is thirty days at a time, and
by the time the next election, big election comes, which
(08:20):
will be the midterms, we're going to be you and
I are going to be talking about something totally different.
Speaker 3 (08:26):
Very true. Jim, thank you, as always.
Speaker 5 (08:29):
Thank you, Good morning.
Speaker 6 (08:34):
He did Wednesday the bloom Daddy Experience. Sam and Otis
News Radio eleven seventy WWVA almost messed that up.
Speaker 7 (08:44):
WWVA.
Speaker 6 (08:45):
Of course, thank you for tuning in with us this morning.
Coming up, we have a busy show for you. Of course.
In the eight o'clock hour, we are going to have
Politics Unleashed with Elgin mccardeal.
Speaker 7 (08:58):
I don't know about you, otis. I think there's a
couple things to talk about.
Speaker 8 (09:03):
Nah, it's a slowly I.
Speaker 7 (09:05):
Know, there's nothing.
Speaker 6 (09:07):
Nothing's been going on, Nah, nothing to talk about, but
that's going to be coming up. As I said, in
the eight o'clock hour, and then in the show. Throughout
the show, you still have time to register for your
chance to win free lunch delivered on Friday courtesy of
our friends at River City. All you have to do
is email me Sam at iHeartMedia dot com, name, phone number,
(09:31):
and business and that is your registration.
Speaker 2 (09:34):
We will be.
Speaker 6 (09:36):
Using the randomizer at the end of the show to
choose that winner or to draw that winner, so we
have plenty of time throughout the show.
Speaker 8 (09:45):
To get that randomizer. Like it's just this fancy thing
we have. It is it's an app on your phone,
not even an app, it's just like a site you
can go to a number.
Speaker 7 (09:58):
Honestly, I've never seen it.
Speaker 8 (09:59):
You do it. It's pretty quick and easy. But it's
the random like it's on the shelf over here. We
just feed numbers into it. It randomizes and shoots it out.
Speaker 6 (10:14):
Sends me something George Jetson would have.
Speaker 8 (10:18):
Better'll be like every week. I just and that just
popped it in my head. Yeah, you know, like, hey,
time for the randomizer.
Speaker 6 (10:27):
From the prices are right down the seventies and what
do you think is the going price for the nineteen
eighty two randomizer? You know, hey, it sounds good, sounds fancy. Anyways,
that's your chance to win, and of course that we
will be doing at the end of the show through
the randomizer, we will be getting our winner. So again,
(10:51):
email samon iHeartMedia dot com with your name, phone number,
and business name.
Speaker 7 (10:57):
So Otis. I've got to I gotta put this out there.
Thank you.
Speaker 6 (11:03):
It was because thanks to you last night I found
out that the new season of Skinwalker Ranch premiered last week.
Speaker 8 (11:15):
Yeah, me too, That's when I found out was yesterday.
That's why I called you.
Speaker 7 (11:19):
So I'm you know, I'm getting his phoneos, what's he
doing call me at night?
Speaker 3 (11:22):
Like this.
Speaker 8 (11:22):
It was like six thirty I know.
Speaker 7 (11:25):
To me, that's nighttime.
Speaker 6 (11:27):
And I was like, oh, okay, all right, gotta watch,
gotta watch. So I found the first episode from last
week and I'm like, oh, yay, this is the time
of year where like a lot of the a lot
of shows are off air, and it's kind of the
oddball shows that run through the summer, like the Skinwalker.
Speaker 8 (11:46):
Ranches of the World summer Phil.
Speaker 6 (11:47):
Yeah, the filler shows.
Speaker 7 (11:49):
And I was so thrilled. I was so thrilled.
Speaker 6 (11:52):
And as I'm watching, like the first ten to fifteen minutes,
I'm like, Okay, one guy's not there.
Speaker 7 (11:57):
What happened to Dragon?
Speaker 6 (11:58):
The security guy that always look miserable throughout the entire show.
He just has a look on his face where they
could discover an alien families living in that mesa and
he would still look the same.
Speaker 8 (12:10):
He looks constipated.
Speaker 7 (12:12):
Yes, that's a good that's a good description. And I'm like,
he's missing.
Speaker 6 (12:16):
And then they start coming up with all this stuff
and I'm texting Notice going.
Speaker 7 (12:19):
Oh, it's a bubble.
Speaker 6 (12:21):
It's a bubble, and it's like, oh God, it's such listen.
Speaker 8 (12:26):
Well, the good thing is the streaming service that I
have allows me to DBR and I have it set
up to record, so like, not only does it record
it when it comes on at eight o'clock, but it
also records the reair at ten thirty and the re
air at three in the morning. In the reair because
it just says new episodes, so anytime it comes on,
it's considered new.
Speaker 7 (12:46):
So you were you were not going.
Speaker 8 (12:47):
To miss so I so I was able to watch
last week's episode yesterday before I went to my drum class,
and you know, you can fast forward through the commercials
and everything like that, so you know, you take that
hour show and you can get it down to about
forty two minutes or whatever. And then I was like, oh,
(13:08):
And then I wasn't thinking about it, but then I
called you after the drum class and said, hey, season
premiere was last Tuesday. I thought it was last night,
and so I said, do your catch up well.
Speaker 6 (13:21):
And see, I have the History Vault app, which is
their streaming service for the channel, and with the two
hundred and fiftieth anniversary of everything that's happening here for
the United States, they're doing all kinds of stuff on
the History Channel. So if that is something that you're
into and you find fascinating. There's gonna be all kinds
of documentaries, different special programming they're going to be doing.
(13:42):
I'm trying to think of what all was in that
promo that I saw last night on there. I know
right now, Kevin Costner has a four part documentary series
called Into the West, which is really good. So if
you are into all that kind of stuff, you've got
to check the History Channel right now because there is
tons of stuff on there. The one thing I will
(14:04):
say about Skinwalker Ranch and the cursive Oak Island because
I'm a huge nerd when it comes to the Curse
of Oak Island both shows, and I don't understand why
they do this. Every time they go from one scene
or experiment to another, they reintroduce every single person every time.
Speaker 7 (14:27):
Well, the other thing is it's just annoying.
Speaker 8 (14:29):
And I noticed it a long time ago, like during
Shark Week or not Shark Week, But what's the one
where they go out with the fishermen deadles catch? So
what they'll do is you get that you know, seven
or eight minute segment whatever it is, and they take
the last minute to a minute and a half and
then they replay it after the commercials. In a way,
(14:52):
it's almost like a recap of the last segment, so
that if you missed, if you left early, then you're
going to see it. And you know, I've noticed that
a lot on like those Street Channel.
Speaker 6 (15:02):
I wonder if it's the same production company, so they
have kind of.
Speaker 8 (15:05):
I'm sure it's kind of like a thing that you know,
it's it's a format that they follow.
Speaker 6 (15:11):
Yeah, yeah, but it's like, Okay, we get it. This
is such and such, and this is such and such,
and but no, if you're a fan of all that
kind of stuff that I'm telling you, there is something
at Skinwalker Ranch.
Speaker 7 (15:23):
There's something there.
Speaker 6 (15:25):
Because they have found unlike the Curse of Oak Island
where they find wood, they found more wood last night,
which is just there's so many jokes in there.
Speaker 7 (15:38):
I'm not going to go there.
Speaker 6 (15:39):
But but with Skinwalker Ranch, they find all kinds of stuff,
like the way they do the tests and then they're
able to take the test and put the results on
the computer screen and they can draw draw these diagrams
and these these funnels and and just they're listen to people.
Speaker 8 (15:56):
There's a lot more science.
Speaker 6 (15:58):
Yeah, well, and what's his name here, I'm saying they
say their names.
Speaker 7 (16:02):
Yeah, he was on.
Speaker 8 (16:05):
The everything, but.
Speaker 6 (16:07):
No, no, no, the committee for the UAP studies through
the government. I mean he testified and everything, and it
was a big secret situation that he couldn't tell his
counterparts on the show. So he's a legit like.
Speaker 8 (16:22):
But he's an astrophysicist, you know. Yeah, he's he's smarter
than anybody that they know combined combine them.
Speaker 7 (16:30):
Yes, yes, he is.
Speaker 6 (16:31):
Uh, he is quite the person. Did you notice in
that episode, just real quick, the guy that drives the
helicopter he was on a virtual call. Did you notice
the Matt black blacked out Ferrari sitting in the hangar
of the helicopter behind him? Oh yeah, quite quite the
(16:52):
piece of piece of machinery sitting behind him.
Speaker 2 (16:55):
It was.
Speaker 8 (16:55):
It was Well, I've recorded the episode so I can
go back and see it better. My TV's recorded it
like forty two times.
Speaker 6 (17:02):
Okay, go check it out, because that's what caught my
attention when he was talking. Anyways, seven twenty eight, when
we get back, bloom Daddy.
Speaker 7 (17:10):
Has a few choice words for some people.
Speaker 6 (17:13):
You're listening to the bloom Daddy experience, Samon Otis News
Radio eleven seventy WWVA.
Speaker 3 (17:23):
All right, let's take a look at what we got
going on in LA.
Speaker 2 (17:25):
You got about seven hundred Marines from the Marine Corps
base in twenty nine Palms, California deployed to LA. They're
there to support about three hundred National Guard members to
control these protests against these federal You know, everywhere you
look they say these federal immigration rates, and it should
say these federal illegal immigration raids. Everybody omits that these
(17:46):
are not immigration rates. These are illegal immigration rates, and
there is a huge difference. But the media wants you
to think that, you know, immigrants are just getting plucked
and thrown out of the country.
Speaker 3 (17:57):
That is not happening.
Speaker 2 (18:00):
These protests started after ICE carried out raids Friday three
locations in LA.
Speaker 3 (18:06):
Dozens of people were taken into customy.
Speaker 2 (18:08):
And these were people who are criminals above and beyond
being here criminally. They had assault charges against them, they
had breaking and entering charges against them. These are the
types of people that these democrats are sticking up for
that these protesters are going to raising hell for scum,
(18:30):
human scum.
Speaker 3 (18:31):
That shouldn't be here in the first place.
Speaker 2 (18:34):
Tom Holman threatened Gavin Newsom and Mayor Karen Bass with
arrest if they were going to impede any of this.
And then Gavin Newsom the tough guy, he is responding
Tom RUSI, let's go now he's suing.
Speaker 3 (18:47):
So there's two main things coming out of this.
Speaker 2 (18:48):
First of all, and I've said this before and I
will stick to this to the day I die. You
want to stop this kind of crap. If if people
want to protest and it's peaceful, that's fine. Once you
start impeding traffic, you should get your skull cracked in half.
Once you start looting, you should get your skull cracked
in half. The billy clubs should be out and people
(19:09):
should get the hell beat out of them. It'll stop immediately.
But see, we play with kid Gloves now and he's idiots.
No that basically, nothing's gonna happen to him. So they
do what they do. You start attacking people, you start
setting stuff on fire, you deserve a bullet. In my world,
I have no problem with it. It would stop immediately.
(19:30):
But again, kid gloves, Kid gloves, Kid Gloves. So we
want to stop this kind of crap.
Speaker 3 (19:36):
It's real easy.
Speaker 2 (19:37):
You get back to being physical with these individuals who
cross the line. That's number one. Number two, I do
believe this is all good for the Republican Party. All
anybody was talking about was Elon versus Donald Trump, and
it was making the Republican Party look really bad. And
now all of a sudden boom overshadowed by the same
people who love the defund the police movement, and that
(20:01):
costs Democrats big time in twenty twenty four. You know it,
and I know it. So keep it up because now
nobody's talking about Elon and Trump, and everybody's talking about Hillary.
Speaker 3 (20:10):
Clinton saying, oh, everything was peaceful until Trump.
Speaker 2 (20:14):
Sent in the National Guard. What world is she living in?
Gavin Newsom, Oh, we had it under control. Really, ask
a lot of people own businesses who have been looted.
So we are showing America once again. It is in
full view of everybody in America right now, the people
(20:36):
once again siding with criminals over you law abiding citizens.
You have Gavin Newsom siding with criminals, you have Karen
Bass siding with criminals, you have Hillary Clinton siding with criminals.
AOC go down the list, and I think by at
least Friday of this week, Maxine waters cheeks are going
(20:59):
to be touched the ground. Can this lady just go away?
I can't even look at her anymore. Number one, I
think she's a despicable human being. But number two, it's like, lady,
your face is dragging the floor. It's time to retire
and please get out of here. But we are seeing
once again what went on during Trump's first term. Oh,
(21:22):
they're just letting off steam. Oh it wasn't that bad.
We didn't need a National Garden here. I guarantee you
there are store owners all over Los Angeles who are
thanking God Donald Trump called in the National Garden now
of the Marines, I guarantee you there are regular human
beings who just.
Speaker 3 (21:38):
Want to go on with their lives, who.
Speaker 2 (21:40):
Are thankful Donald Trump called in the National Guard because
you know exactly what would have happened if he didn't.
La would be burning totally. It would be absolute chaos.
And that's exactly what Gavin Newsom wants, that's exactly what
Karen Bass wants. Well, we gotta let him let off
steam and then we can blame Trump just like they're
doing now.
Speaker 3 (21:59):
These are the same people who didn't.
Speaker 2 (22:01):
Do a damn thing back in twenty nineteen and twenty twenty,
and we saw what happened. And that's why I brought
that up to Royal Oaks, because if I'm the Trump
administration and I'm getting sued over this, I'm saying, okay, well,
let's take a look at what these individuals did years
ago when it came to riots and cities across America. Hell,
you had a mayor and a governor in Washington allow
(22:24):
eight city blocks to be taken over in Seattle, and
they called it peaceful.
Speaker 3 (22:29):
Oh, they've got gardens.
Speaker 2 (22:31):
Look at the love they're painting, isn't it great? And
then the next thing, you know, two black men murdered
buy it, two other black men in this eight blocks
of peace and love and prosperity, and it had to
be torn down because it was an absolute failure when
you let the idiots take over. At the end of
(22:54):
the day, they're still idiots. You can treat them with
kid gloves. You could give them whatever they want. You
could pat them on the back and say, you know,
maybe we should start looking at it your way. You
could do whatever you want. They're gonna f it up
because they're idiots. That's what idiots do. You probably work
with idiots every day. Maybe you're a teacher, you probably
(23:18):
have to teach idiots every day. There's nothing you can
do to fix idiots. At the end of the day,
they are what they are. And that's exactly what.
Speaker 3 (23:29):
We're seeing here.
Speaker 2 (23:30):
So as this moves on is Gavin Newsom sues and
Karen Bass runs her big fat mouth, and Maxine Waters
does her.
Speaker 3 (23:38):
Thing and AOC and all the rest of them. You
know what it's doing.
Speaker 2 (23:41):
I'm sitting here and I'm going thank you because you
know what. The midterms are right around the corner, and
Republicans did need a boost.
Speaker 3 (23:49):
We did.
Speaker 2 (23:50):
This is it, And this will also be a reminder
in twenty twenty eight as to why there needs to
be another Republican in the White House. Because if you
want people who embrace chaos, if you want people who
embrace lawlessness, if you want people who embrace an anti
cop sentiment, we're seeing it again. And you'd think they
would learn, You think they would learn from before because
(24:13):
it gave them Trump again. The same these very same
people who hate Donald Trump worse than anything, They hate
Trump more than they hate cancer. These same people don't
understand that their own mentality, their own lack of understanding
what the majority of American people want, which is common sense,
(24:36):
gave them Donald Trump again. Because when it comes to
defund the police, you've got to be you got to
be insane unhinged to back that. When it came to
the stupid stuff during COVID, you gotta be insane unhinged.
Speaker 3 (24:53):
To back that. They did all that, and it gave
them Trump again.
Speaker 2 (25:00):
I think they would sit back and go, ah, man,
I mean, maybe we need to reassess what we're doing here,
Maybe we need to quit backing criminal action and back
law abiding citizens because it's already cost us. But they don't,
they double down. Why because they're arrogant and because they
(25:20):
lack common sense. Common sense will tell you in this
situation here, you got to go in and you got
to make some people bleed, and they deserve it. If
you're out there peacefully protesting, you do not deserve it.
If you are out there burning and pillaging and throwing
(25:41):
rocks at ice vehicles as they go by, you deserve
whatever you get.
Speaker 3 (25:46):
And if that's a bullet or a club upside the head,
you deserve it.
Speaker 2 (25:53):
I can't look at it in any other way, and
you know what, I will never look at it any
other way.
Speaker 6 (26:07):
We are back. It is seven fifty on your Wednesday morning,
the bloom Daddy Experience OTIS and Sam News Radio eleven
seventy WWVA. So obviously bloom Daddy touched on things happening
out west, and we're going to get into that and
many other of course national political topics when we get
into politics Unleashed coming up in the next hour, so
(26:28):
we will save all of that till then. One thing
we're not going to save. We're gonna have your chance
to win here very shortly for a four pack to
see the Ironman this Saturday down at Monarch Stadium for
their second home game.
Speaker 7 (26:43):
So that's gonna be coming up.
Speaker 6 (26:45):
Here very shortly. And then also we're still taking registrations
for free lunch on Friday. All you have to do
is email Sam at iHeartMedia dot com, name, phone number,
and company, and we're going to be doing that until
basically till the end of the show. So you probably
you have about another hour we'll say another hour to
get your registrations in, So get those in again, Sam
(27:07):
at iHeartMedia dot com. Some local stories want to hit
on real quick. Cleveland Cliffs is officially abandoning its plans
for a one hundred and fifty million dollar transformer production
plant in Whirton. The steelmaker announced last summer it would
repurpose it's Half Moon warehouse to produce electric power distribution transformers.
(27:35):
West Virginia had offered a fifty million dollar forgivable loan
as part of this deal. Company attorneys formerly declined the
stage financial incentives on May fifteenth, citing current business strategy
and operational priorities. Not a great announcement. They are for
(27:55):
the weird in area. Unfortunately, Say it isn't so, Mary Lou,
Say it isn't so. Who knew gymnastics would be a
hot story this week? Or former gymnasts? Of course, we
have the national story going on right now with Riley
Gaines and.
Speaker 7 (28:14):
Simone Biles. But Mary lou.
Speaker 6 (28:17):
Retton, if you were a kid of the eighties, everybody
knew the name Mary lou.
Speaker 7 (28:22):
She was on the waities box.
Speaker 6 (28:23):
But she with course. Olympic gold medalist Mary lou Retton
has entered a no contest plea to driving under the
influence charges. The West Virginia native and former gymnast was
charged with a misdemeanor DUI in her hometown of Fairmont,
and this happened on May seventeenth. Retton says she takes
full responsibility for her actions and is committed to making
(28:46):
positive changes in her life. The nineteen eighty four Olympic
Gymnastics gold medalists battled a rare form of pneumonia in
twenty twenty three that left her hospitalized for several weeks.
I remember that, I remember when she was very sick.
So unfortunately, not great headlines for Mary Lou retting there
or someone Biles for that matter of fact, I forgot
(29:09):
Mary Lou was from West Virginia when.
Speaker 8 (29:11):
I was in high school. Right after she had won
the gold medal. One of my jobs at Wheeling Park
was I ran the clock for the wrestling meets. Okay,
and Wheeling Park was wrestling Fairmont Senior, Fairmont West Fairmont
Senior and her cousin or brother was wrestling, and Mary
(29:37):
Lou was in the stands by herself. Nobody knew she
was there. I mean, she was sitting with her mom
or you know, she was sitting with a relative and
nobody knew she was there. And like you didn't want
to approach her, right, you know what I mean, I didn't.
You didn't want to be that person, and like nobody
went up to her and asked her for she had
(29:57):
just won the gold medal. I mean, this would have
be this would have been the winter of eighty five.
So also it could have been it could have been, well,
it could have been. I mean, like she was fresh
off the gold medal, right, so but yeah, she was.
She was at Willim Park High School with a wrestling
meet when Wheeling Park was wrestling Firmont Senior at the time,
(30:18):
so she was.
Speaker 7 (30:20):
Was She was the first American to win the all around.
Speaker 8 (30:24):
She was I think she was the first American to
score perfect ten.
Speaker 7 (30:27):
Okay, I'm trying to look here what I thought. She
was the first American.
Speaker 8 (30:32):
She may have been the first one to win. Yeah,
I mean I knew there were some other gymnasts that
preceded her, but she.
Speaker 7 (30:41):
Was kind of the like she became the face she.
Speaker 6 (30:45):
Put Olympic gymnastics on the map sort of in a way.
Speaker 8 (30:49):
Well, she won a gold medal in the individual all
around competition, as well as two silver medals and two
bronze medals.
Speaker 7 (30:56):
Okay, for some reason, I thought she was the first.
She was just so cute and bubbly.
Speaker 8 (30:59):
To four foot nine that's how tall she is.
Speaker 7 (31:02):
Wow, fifty seven years old.
Speaker 8 (31:06):
M mm hmmm.
Speaker 7 (31:08):
So West Virginia.
Speaker 8 (31:09):
Native Fairmont Marion County.
Speaker 7 (31:11):
Had a little a little too much fun. So you
need you never went up and talked to her.
Speaker 8 (31:16):
No, scared to death. I mean, I mean, you know,
I had been around some professionals before, Like when I
was in junior high I got to go to the
Dapper Dam banquet and you know, the the honorees were
John Havlchak and Jill and Joe nicro and and you
know there's you know, it was myself and my best
(31:37):
friend at the time, and you know, we're down in
the meeting room what's now the bar area for the
nailors bar area, and my dad when John Hablechak came in,
my dad says, hey, John, how you doing. He goes, hey, Ted,
how you doing? Blah blah blah, and I'm like, how
the hell does my dad. I'm in this seventh grade,
(32:00):
I'm like, how the hell does my dad know John Halachak.
Speaker 6 (32:03):
Boy, that's a room for sports history right Well here, well.
Speaker 8 (32:06):
Here, my dad in nineteen fifty eight was co captain
of the OVA, the fictional O VAC All Star team.
He was a co captain and Havlichik was a co captain.
So they played against each other, you know, in high
school and in summer leagues and stuff like that. And
then Joe Nicro when my dad was at West Liberty
(32:27):
in his second stint. My dad went right out of
high school and then didn't have the money and so
on and so forth, so went into the army, worked
came back in sixty five sixty six somewhere in there,
and Joe Nicro was was at West Liberty at the time.
But my dad and you know, my dad, Halacheck and
Phil were all the right around the same age, so
(32:49):
they competed against each other and just about everything.
Speaker 7 (32:52):
They crossed paths everywhere.
Speaker 8 (32:54):
Yeah, so they knew each other. It's like my dad,
You're going, holy yeah, yeah, even as I still have
the program, uh somewhere because it's your dad, You're like,
my dad knows cool people. I have the I have
the program that has Phil, Joe have the check, Dwight
(33:16):
White from the Steelers, Bob Prince, the Voice of the
Pirates from back in the day. All their autographs are
on the cover of the Dapper Dam Banquet. I have
that somewhere.
Speaker 4 (33:25):
Hmm.
Speaker 8 (33:26):
I don't know what I've done with it, but I
have it somewhere.
Speaker 7 (33:31):
All men in their organization skilled, well, No.
Speaker 8 (33:35):
I had it. I had it to show somebody, and
then it was in the back of my jeep. And
then when I sold the jeep, I took it out
and I get to remember where I put it.
Speaker 3 (33:43):
Oh.
Speaker 6 (33:43):
Yes, as my husband says, it's chaos, but it's my chaos.
And I know where, Yes, I know where everything is.
Don't and he'll say, don't touch anything, especially in his garage.
Don't try to straighten up anything. I know where everything is.
Speaker 8 (33:55):
If there's a stack of paper somewhere and I know,
I know that, I know it somewhere in that pile,
I just don't know exactly where.
Speaker 6 (34:02):
Prime example of how men and women's brains work completely differently.
Speaker 7 (34:06):
All right, let's do it.
Speaker 6 (34:07):
Your chance to win a four pack to the Ohio
Valley Ironmen down at Monarch Stadium one eight hundred sixty
two four eleven seventy one eight hundred sixty two four
eleven seventy Let's do caller number nine. Let's do call
her number nine one, eight hundred sixty two four eleven seventy.
It's seven fifty eight on this Wednesday. The bloom Daddy
(34:27):
Experience samon otis News Radio eleven seventy WWVA z.
Speaker 1 (34:38):
Number one talk show in the Ohio Valley. This is
the bloom Daddy Experience. Your host bloom Daddy, his goal inform,
entertain and tick people off. The bloom Daddy Experience on
news radio eleven seventy.
Speaker 3 (34:54):
WWVA starts now.
Speaker 2 (34:57):
News Radio eleven seventy. It's the Blue Daddy Experience. Hey
in Sato six, let's get this hour rolling, all right,
So you've seen the rioting, you've seen the violence, You've
seen it much top seven under marines, three International Guard
members trying to control protests against the federal illegal immigration raids.
Everybody seems to be leaving that word out when talking
(35:18):
about this. You've got Gavin Newsom basically telling borders are
tom Holm and yeah, yeah, come arrest me, you know,
come on, big guy, come get me. You've got Mayor
Karen Bass saying we didn't need the National Guarden here.
You've got all this stuff going on and in the meantime,
you've got Trump doing what I believe he should be doing.
Let's bring on Jim or Ac, former Congressman, Bloom Daddy
(35:39):
Show political analyst Jim before we get into the nuts
and bolts to this Rachel Maddow, who's the left's beacon
of hope, even though she was totally wrong on everything
pertaining to the twenty twenty four election, and I don't
even know if more than six people watch her anymore.
Speaker 3 (35:54):
This is a quote about what's going on in LA.
This is what she said.
Speaker 2 (35:58):
Even if these protests were one hundred times the size
they are, there still wouldn't be an operational reason to
bring in active duty troops or federalized National Guard.
Speaker 3 (36:09):
What world is she living in?
Speaker 2 (36:11):
Jim, one hundred times what it is she's saying, one
hundred times what's going on right now still would not
necessitate bringing in the national Guard.
Speaker 4 (36:23):
Right well, boom Daddy. Look, there's always going to be
two opinions on everything. You got the right and the
left opinion. The left is saying that the national Guard
should not be called in and left the states call
them in. You know what's interesting is that's a states
rights issue, and it's not that often that the left
agrees with the states rights issue, but that's what they're
(36:46):
trying to claim. Of course, this will be a lawsuit,
this will be contested. It'll be interesting to see because
the president has three reasons that he can step in,
and the question is as to whether one of those three, uh,
he you know, he has the authority now, the authority
(37:07):
that he's claiming he is, because they are going after
ice agents and they're going after a federal building. And
I do believe that that gives him the authority to
protect that federal building if the state and the county
and the city and is not you know, providing that protection.
(37:27):
So it's going to come down to does he have
the authority or doesn't, And it's going to be a
legal interpretation. But clearly, I don't think anybody should be
agreeing with the riots. I don't think anybody should be
agreeing with what's going on. And we should have law
and order in the streets of whether it's La Cleveland, Akron,
(37:50):
whatever town it is. So the question is really going
to be and by the way, bloom Daddy and I
tell this to a lot of people, it's going to
be for the future too, because you got to remember,
if we agree that President Trump has this authority, we
also have to be careful that when there's a Democrat president,
which there will be. I know, people tell me that's
(38:10):
never gonna happen. There will be someday, then he or
she's going to have that same authority as well. So
these are all the tests that I think we need
to walk through and be prepared for.
Speaker 3 (38:21):
Here here's the other angle to this, Jim.
Speaker 2 (38:23):
You hear democrats say, well, you know, this shows how
upset people are over ice and getting rid of illegal
criminals and this and that. But is it really because
these people that are pillaging, that are that are being violent,
that are stealing to me, they're not protesting anything. They're
(38:43):
seeing opportunity. This is just an opportunity for them to go.
And they're they're they're they're thieves. They're petty thieves who
just sense an opportunity. They don't stand for anything other
than theft.
Speaker 4 (39:00):
Well, look, I would agree with you, and you know,
let's face it, this is something the city, the county,
and the state should be protecting. They should be protecting first.
I'm a big states rights advocate. I believe the states
should have the opportunity. But clearly we have a situation
here where the state and the county and the city,
(39:21):
we're not protecting ICE members and they were not protecting
a federal building. So that's the authority that President Trump has.
But we always have to be cautious when we allow
the federal authority to step in where local authority should be.
So that's the only warning I give. But I would
one hundred percent agree with you. These people are not
(39:44):
They are criminals. They are doing damage there. It's not
a peaceful protest, and because of that, I do think
the president should step in and protect the federal building
and the federalizations.
Speaker 3 (39:56):
Tell you.
Speaker 2 (39:57):
Jimern Acy, former Congressman Bloombaddy Show political analyst, let's take
it a step further, Jim, we saw what happened back
in twenty twenty and all these democratic led cities, these mayors,
these governors let stuff get so out of control that
millions of dollars of property damage, people lost businesses, people
lost lives. That's exactly what would happen in LA. Don't
(40:22):
you agree if Trump didn't make this move, Because we've
seen it before, we've seen the playbook.
Speaker 3 (40:27):
We knew where this was going.
Speaker 4 (40:31):
Well, and one hundred percent agree. And let's face it,
we even had that in Ohio. We had Cleveland that
was you know, the downtown Columbus downtown destroyed. And at
those times the President did not step in, the governor
lightly stepped in. Governor dwined. But again, this is why
I say there's a process. Nobody should be allowed to
(40:53):
commit a crime, Nobody should be allowed to destroy property,
destroy a building, and we do need law and order.
I give President Trump credit for saying, even if those
people are and even if there's an attorney out there
that says that President Trump overstepped his bounds, I think
in the end he's doing it for the right reasons.
(41:13):
He's doing it for law and order, and we need
to have this done. We should be a country and
a state, and our cities should abide by law and order.
So it'll be interesting to see what the courts say
on this, but I do think he's going to be
able to stand to have that authority because they were attacking,
you know, federalized agents and a federal building. And I
(41:33):
keep repeating that because I think if they were just
attacking any old city and any old building. That probably
would be an issue to have the federal government step in,
but in this case, I do believe he has that authority.
Speaker 2 (41:48):
All right, Jim, last question, is this just what the
Republican Party needed to get back it's mojo after the
bag elon Musk Donald Trump dust up.
Speaker 4 (41:56):
It's funny he said that because I have said that
President Trump has the ability to make let's face it is.
His approval rating is over fifty percent when it comes
to immigration, when it comes to ice, when it comes
to everything he's doing. So he now has control of
the message in this move. What people are forgotten about
(42:17):
is we have a big, beautiful bill that's being fought
over right now. We've got a whole bunch of tariffs
that nobody's talking about. And I've got to give President
Trump credit the political. The politics is that he is
now doing what's necessary to divert people from talking about
(42:38):
those other things while he's doing what's right for the country.
And it's definitely something that Republicans can win on. It's
definitely something that's going to hurt Democrats. But like I
tell you, every time we're on a show of politics
is thirty days at a time, and by the time
the next election, big election comes, which will be the midterms,
(43:00):
we're gonna be You're not gonna be talking about something
totally different.
Speaker 3 (43:04):
Very true, Jim, thank you as always.
Speaker 5 (43:07):
Thank you, BA, welcome back, eight twenty one.
Speaker 6 (43:20):
We're gonna get right into this. It's politics unleashed with
elgend mccardal And of course I'm I was gonna say,
I'm otis, I'm Sam, He's otis and you're listening to WWVA.
Speaker 3 (43:31):
All right.
Speaker 6 (43:32):
First of all, I posed this question yesterday, got tons
of response. I want to get your question, your answer
to this real simple?
Speaker 7 (43:38):
Is this what you voted for? Trump's Trump's reaction to
la Trump's reaction? Yes, just everything, Yes, Yes, it is
absolutely absolutely what I voted for. When you said that,
is this what you voted for? Chaos? No, but I
really believe that he is carrying out all of the
promises that he made during the camp pain and the
(44:02):
whole chaos I think is part of the TDS I do.
It's let's just make it, make make him look bad,
you know, and challenge him and every don't challenge President Trump. No,
rise to the occasion. Well, and he will beat you.
Speaker 6 (44:19):
We saw that last night, which I thought was I
thought it was great. I thought it was funny. It
was like a scene out of a Real Housewives reunion.
If anybody knows what I'm talking about.
Speaker 7 (44:29):
He brings the receipts.
Speaker 6 (44:31):
When Newsom called him out early yesterday, I believe was saying,
you know, I never even spoke to President Trump, even
though Trump said it from the Oval office, I never
had a phone call with him.
Speaker 7 (44:40):
All right, challenge me.
Speaker 6 (44:42):
Trump's like, here's your phone, bog time dat and stamped.
Speaker 7 (44:46):
Yeah, exactly exactly. We've never had a president that's from
the receipts like that. Yeah, transparent and just he has learned,
I think from the first administration. He doesn't lash out.
He learned that lashing out, as Elon did spontaneously is
(45:07):
not always the best. Stop and take a breath, right, stop,
take a breath, move back, walk it back, think about it,
and then, you know, say something. And the fact that
he does not get snitty when asked by reporters about
you know, are you gonna call Elon back? And he
said he should call me. But I don't have a
(45:27):
problem with it. You know, God bless him because it
is very difficult to make nice with politicians, especially who
just go at you, go at you, you know, miserably
and negatively in a campaign. That when you start hitting
below the belt and you don't stick to the facts
(45:48):
or policies, that's when it becomes very bad. And Elon's
you know, tweets or whatever, they were certainly hit below
the belt. But Trump reacted, Yes, that's what I voted for.
He is protecting the legal citizens of the United States.
Speaker 3 (46:09):
Well.
Speaker 6 (46:10):
And one thing I've taken away from this the past
four or five days is, as we have watched the
chaos pandemonium that's hitting Los Angeles right now, or if
you're on the other side, the peaceful protest depends on.
As I said yesterday, words matter.
Speaker 7 (46:28):
But if you look at.
Speaker 6 (46:30):
Newsome and his reaction, same thing with Baz, it's all
about blaming. There's absolutely no accountability. This goes back to
the wildfires three or four months ago. These two quote
unquote leaders do not lead. What they do is they blame.
And I think a lot of voters in California need
(46:51):
to take a step back and again words matter. Look
at what they are doing for their city and their state.
All they're doing is laying blame everywhere. I mean, if
you look at under Newsom, just got some numbers for you.
These are shocking twelve billion dollar budget deficit under Newsom,
third highest unemployment for a state across the United States,
(47:12):
highest poverty rate, and the largest homeless population in the nation.
All four of those just one state under one governor Knewsom.
And he can't blame that on anybody else, like he's
trying to blame these rides on.
Speaker 7 (47:26):
I agree, I agree he certainly. I think that's what
President Trump said is he's just incompetent, and he said
nothing personal against him, He's just incompetent. He has driven
California to the ground the wildfires. As the riots were
happening and more burning was going on, I thought to myself,
(47:49):
were we just burning a few months ago in a
wildfire uncontrollably? Has that been addressed? You know? And the
mayor certain bass certainly did not handle that one. Well, well,
she wasn't there right, and I don't think it was
even It hasn't been addressed. And yet now we are
looting and burning. I mean, what is looting and burning
(48:10):
have anything to do with quote protesting the illegal immigrants?
What is that and what they're doing is they're looting
and burning legal immigrants, businesses who have worked very hard
to get where they are to live in our country,
earn the right to live in our country, speak our language,
(48:31):
pay our taxes, you know. But but yet we have
looters out in the looters at night. And then we
have protesters on the streets claiming that California is actually
Mexico land. That I don't know if you heard that
now I've gone. They said, this is our land and
(48:52):
this is Mexico and we should be able to file
the fly the Mexican No, you know, you don't get
to file the Mexican flag in calorn Go across the border.
That a way, go home.
Speaker 6 (49:04):
Well, most recent numbers, we are up to three hundred
and seventy eight people have been arrested so far in
Los Angeles for the destruction for you know, painting on buildings,
national buildings, death to America, burning the American flag, all
the things that we are saying is seeing is it's repulsive.
I'm sorry, as I as I've said all week long,
(49:27):
go back, go back, you love it so much, go back.
They'll still fight for free medical care and free food
and free housing on our tax dollars, but death to
our country. Right, sorry, sorry, but speaking of the American
flag when we get back. One thing President Trump said
yesterday from Fort Bragg, one year in jail, if you
(49:51):
burn the flag or anything disrespectful from black. So I
want to get your thoughts on that. And of course
more on California and vaccine waters, the Sharpei.
Speaker 7 (50:08):
Congress.
Speaker 6 (50:09):
Ooh oh, alright, eight twenty eight. I guess we know
what's up with that one coming up next, it's eight
twenty eight. You're listening to the bloo Daddy Experience salmon
Otis News Radio eleven seventy WWVA. Welcome back, eight thirty six,
(50:33):
The bloom Daddy Experience, salmon Otis News Radio, eleven seventy WWVA.
Of course we are talking politics unleaked with Eljim mccartal
here in studio. We talked a little bit about the
LA riots going on, and that's what they are.
Speaker 7 (50:48):
They are riots.
Speaker 6 (50:49):
As I said yesterday, words matter, words like peaceful protesting
versus writing, words like illegal immigrant versus immigrant. And that's
one thing, as I said yesterday, folks pay attention to
when you're listening to the different reportings on what is
happening throughout our country. Pay attention to the words because
(51:12):
they matter drastically. One image coming out of LA over
the weekend, of course, the flags. We see the Mexican
flags everywhere. We also see the burning of the American flags,
which of course has made it to the Oval Office,
and President Trump addressed that yesterday, floating the idea of
(51:33):
creating criminal penalties for disgracing the American flag, burning the
flag up to a year in jail. Wanted to get
your thoughts on that, Elgin.
Speaker 7 (51:42):
It's a mixed touchy. Yes, I have mixed emotions on
that because obviously, do I respect the American flag? Do
I think it should be respected? Do I think it
should be revered? Do I think there should be penalties? Yeah,
that would be my opinion. But I think the problem
with it is it's also an expression. It's a freedom
of expression, and it's a freedom of speech. It is
protected by the Constitution, and the Constitution has to reign
(52:06):
supreme over that, and you cannot. It would be unconstitutional.
I think if you implemented a law that forbade you
to burn the American flag, I think it would be
challenged on a first first Amendment basis, it would likely prevail.
And so I think, you know, there certainly can I
(52:28):
don't know how you monitor that. Maybe you can charge
them with writing disturbance of the peace. There are other
ways to charge the conduct without putting it into legislation
that burning the American flag is a crime. So, I mean,
how sort of a slippery slope when people refuse to
(52:51):
stand for the American flag, that's a sign of disrespect
when they were kneeling and that kind of thing. So
you know, you're not allowed to let them American flag
touch the ground. You know, that's just a it's not
it's a standard. It is not a law, but it's
a sign of respect. So I think it just it
goes to the person. It goes to the character of
(53:14):
the individual. You know, there's a lot of people who
I think the the immigrants that come here legally and
learn the Constitution, learn the makeup of Congress, learn the
you know, Pledge of Allegiance, all of our process. Is
that kind of thing. They probably know more than the
(53:35):
average American that grows up here. But you know, so
they do revere the American flag, they do revere the
freedoms that are accorded to them. And so the disrespect
of a coming across the border without illegally then coming
across the border and creating havoc and breaking our laws,
(53:58):
I mean it is it's like you don't to be here.
Speaker 6 (54:01):
Well, that's what's amazing with these protesters and the Democrat
officials who are standing up for going again going after
our ice officials who are doing their job. First of all,
they are arresting criminals. Well, they're arresting violent criminals, and
(54:23):
our legislators are defending this right.
Speaker 7 (54:27):
I mean, it's ridiculous. So you got to start with
the fact that they're criminals. So the whole narrative is
that it's due process. They aren't. They haven't been afforded
due process. No, no, no, no, they have been afforded
due process in our country. Have been convicted or you know,
are charged with various criminal offenses, and they have been
(54:48):
picked up and rounded up based upon those charges, and
they have then been put in jail and they're just
trying to get them and deport them. Now, I mean,
that's due process. They've been accorded due process. So that's
the first thing you got.
Speaker 3 (54:59):
To look at.
Speaker 7 (55:00):
They are criminals. So they have been found to be criminals. Uh,
then then do they have a right to be here? No,
So it's like a two tier. They committed a crime
by illegally crossing. They committed another crime to our people.
And I don't know if you saw the h I
think it was just on the news this morning. The
New Jersey congresswoman who was blocking up the ice agents
(55:23):
up in New Jersey was actually just indicted. No I
didn't see, Yes, Oh no I didn't. The US Chorneese
Office filed charges against her. Good, yes, good, it's I
mentioned this yesterday.
Speaker 6 (55:38):
It's is if common not just common sense, law and
order right has been completely wiped off the lips of
the Democratic Party. Defending the American citizen has become bottom
of the list of priorities when it comes to democratic leadership.
(55:59):
It's it's beyond mind boggling to me.
Speaker 7 (56:03):
It's almost a retaliation against the American citizen who voted
for Trump. Yeah you know what I mean, Well, we'll
show you. It's it is bizarre. AOC, Nancy Pelosi, you
know Hockey, all of them have been you know in
I think you no sharpay face, max Water, Maxine Waters. Yeah,
(56:28):
I mean she, you know, she all of them, they're
all defending the well, she went.
Speaker 6 (56:36):
And confronted our troop, our troops, the National Guards. She's
sitting there saying, you're gonna shoot me, You're gonna shoot me.
Speaker 7 (56:43):
How dare she? How dare she?
Speaker 6 (56:46):
Because the first time she needs a police escort or
she needs.
Speaker 7 (56:51):
Her private escort. I'm sure, right, but.
Speaker 6 (56:54):
That's who they're going to call. Same thing with the
the violent criminals in the streets right now, they're going
to call the ambulances, they're going to call the you know,
lapd if say there's a shooting in their neighborhood, they're
going to call those people for help, But in the
next breath, they'll throw a same block from the bridge
into their face.
Speaker 3 (57:13):
Right.
Speaker 7 (57:14):
It's just it's it makes it difficult to get people
to take on those jobs. And if you're going to
be subject to rioting, and I know the voice of reason,
which is kind of crazy, is uh Fetnerman yep. I
was going to ask you about him. He came on air,
he gues, do I agree with this? No, absolutely not.
(57:37):
And if the Democrats continue to support this writing, it's
it's ludicrous. He is actually he's going to surface in
twenty eight. That's just my prediction, just because he's either
going to surface he's gonna get cabashed. But he's he's
a personality that is relatable, relatable, He's very relatable. He
(58:01):
is appears to be more moderate, so he would appeal
to the right and to some Republicans, it appears as
though he has overcome whatever deficits he suffered as a
result of and so he just he just he's very crass,
(58:23):
but yet straight to the point, right to the point.
Speaker 8 (58:27):
Yeah.
Speaker 6 (58:27):
His his tweet was I have it here, says I
unapologetically stand for free speech, peaceful demonstrations, and immigration. But
this is not that.
Speaker 7 (58:36):
This is anarchy and true chaos.
Speaker 6 (58:38):
My party loses the moral high ground when we refuse
to contemp condemn setting cars on fire, destroying buildings, and
assaulting law enforcement.
Speaker 7 (58:47):
Right, it is I mean, that is in a nutshell, right,
that's that is absolutely something that that's the message that
the Democrats need to latch onto. But right now, with
the midterms just around the corner, if they keep this up,
well and they're not going anywhere.
Speaker 6 (59:07):
And the Republicans, Republicans honestly need to say thank you
to the writing, because what this has done is put
back into the forefront of the voting public's mind. When
you go Democrat, this is what you get in return, right.
Speaker 7 (59:25):
The craziness, except for the differences in the Biden administration
when this was happening in Minnesota, police, if Trump did
not send in the National Guard, if the Marines weren't
there to help enforce the curfew that the mayor put in,
why did you put in a curfew? If it's thankful,
(59:45):
there's no need for a curfew. But the reality is
the curfew would not have been enforced absent the presence
of the National Guard. So you know that all comes
into play.
Speaker 6 (59:55):
Well, And if we're talking about the National Guard, remember
the images of Milwaukee and oh Jim Walls that was
up and down the suburban streets of Middle America. Right,
But that was okay, But the National Guard squashing violence is.
Speaker 7 (01:00:13):
Not okay according to the Democrats. Yeah, we're not done.
Speaker 6 (01:00:17):
You're listening to the bloo Daddy experience. We're right in
the middle of politics, unleased with Elgim mccardal here on
news Radio eleven seventy WWVA. Welcome back to wood Daddy Experience.
To take fifty here on news Radio eleven seventy WWVA.
(01:00:39):
Of course we're talking politics with Eljim McCardell. All right, So,
like I said before the break, we've got to thank
the Democrats for again reminding the American people where their
priorities lay. Because last week we saw the billionaire bros
(01:01:02):
hit a rocky part, the Rocky Point, and it was
the headlines everywhere, And honestly, when I first saw it,
I thought, oh, this, this stinks like there was something
about the two of them together and what they were accomplishing,
from you know, winning the election to rescuing the astronauts
that were stuck up there for eleven months or however
(01:01:25):
long it was. It was like it was like two
powerhouses coming together to accomplish things that the American people needed,
and you know, Doge of course, don't want to leave
that out. But then to see this breakup, it was
like why but once again back to the Democrats. Thanks
to the riots and the looting and everything that's out.
Speaker 7 (01:01:47):
Of the headlines. But then this morning Elon apologizes, Well,
it's been Here's the deal. The difference is is this
different than any other relationship. I'm sorry, no, relationship. I
don't care what relationship, whether it be family, mother, daughter, father, son, brothers,
(01:02:12):
you know, best friends. You know from from high school
that it means everybody has spats at some point. Everybody
will disagree. The difference is it's in the public eye
and it's subject to interpretation. Same with celebrities. You know
we kind of hold celebrities up. Okay, oh they're getting divorced. Okay, well,
(01:02:36):
you know fifty percent of the population gets divorced. And
why you know, people, you either work on your differences
or you set them aside. I think going back to
the earlier comment that I made where Trump said, you
know what Elon wants to call.
Speaker 3 (01:02:50):
Me, he should call me.
Speaker 7 (01:02:51):
You know, when you're at fault, you should be the
first one to offer the olid branch. That's hey, you
know what I overreacted again, simple uh, things to do
in keeping a relationship. Don't open your mouth. You know
there's a seventy two hour role in relationships that I
(01:03:13):
tell my clients all the time. Okay, first twenty four hours,
shut your mouth. Okay, that's where you think about what
just happened, analyze it, figure out does this really make
that much of a difference that I want to, you know,
make a big deal about it. Okay, that's your first
twenty four sit back, shut your mouth, keep calm. Second
(01:03:36):
twenty four hours is to address the issue. Either confront
the person, say hey, I didn't like this, this went wrong.
Let's agree to disagree, work it out. You have twenty
four hours to work it out. Last twenty four hours
to get over it.
Speaker 3 (01:03:52):
Get over it.
Speaker 7 (01:03:53):
After seventy two hours, it's gone.
Speaker 3 (01:03:55):
Move on.
Speaker 7 (01:03:56):
Oh you remember what you did five years ago.
Speaker 2 (01:04:00):
You know.
Speaker 7 (01:04:02):
It's bad. But if you take the you know, seventy
two hours, twenty four to keep your mouth shut, let
the fire die down, twenty four to address it, twenty
four to get over it. And if you don't bring
it up in that's seventy two hours, you're not allowed
to bring it up period.
Speaker 6 (01:04:13):
And she comes with relationship advice also, you know, doing
divorce for thirty years.
Speaker 7 (01:04:19):
That's kind of though. But seriously, I mean it applies
to public officials. It would it would really be good
to apply in Congress if you have a you know,
reach across the aisle. This person said something, it's horrible,
you don't agree with it, think about it before you
shoot off your mouth because once you fire, you can undo,
(01:04:42):
and it becomes very hard to undo. So, you know
the difference between the bromance. It was in public, it
was very public. But they are allowed to dispute, they're.
Speaker 8 (01:04:51):
Allowed to have it.
Speaker 7 (01:04:52):
You know, their personalities, Oh my goodness, they're both type A.
You can't you can't have two type A personalities get
along all the time.
Speaker 6 (01:05:00):
Well, and now with that, with that kind of out
of the top headlines, I think it opens the door
for a reconciliation, a face to face conversation.
Speaker 7 (01:05:11):
Right, and let's move forward.
Speaker 6 (01:05:14):
Right, let's move on, and let's accomplish what we set
out to accomplish.
Speaker 7 (01:05:17):
Right when we teamed up, you know, when I heard
a Democrat say something, and it was it was very
it was very applicable because he said, it's like a divorce.
I think're gonna say it was really stupid. Well, now,
actually it was like it was Africa, which congressman, but
he was comparing it to a divorce where parents fight. Yeah,
and then the kids suffer. Well, the country will suffer
if you don't get it together, put aside your egos
(01:05:40):
and work on it. Well, but that applies everywhere That's
why when when I.
Speaker 6 (01:05:44):
First saw it and I saw this back and forth
and the things that Musk was putting out there, and
I'm like, why is this bothering me so much? You know,
this doesn't affect me personally, but it really bothered me,
and it right.
Speaker 7 (01:05:55):
But then I was like, Okay, well, it's like your parents.
You want your parents to fight? Yeah, yeah, it's it's
any relationship you don't you know, if your friends fight,
you know, two very good friends and then you're stuck
in the middle, and they each wants you to take
their side, Well, you don't want to take anybody s.
Speaker 3 (01:06:11):
Yeah.
Speaker 7 (01:06:11):
I just want to say, guys, come on, yes, you're billionaires.
Speaker 6 (01:06:13):
Let's let's let's let's both grow up.
Speaker 7 (01:06:15):
Here in right, correct? And I think they are and
I think they will and I think it'll all work
out and you're right.
Speaker 6 (01:06:22):
And just one more question because we got to wrap
this up. But I wanted your thoughts now that with
everything happening happening in California very very quickly, is Newsome
basically nuked himself when it comes to any additional political
aspirations moving forward?
Speaker 7 (01:06:39):
Oh yeah, I think I think he was trying to
appeal to both sides earlier on and he was probably
he got a little tap on the shoulder from the
DEM said, hey, you know, AOC is taken off, so
he's trying to get well, here's what happened. You stay
in the middle of the road, you're gonna get hit.
Pick a side quip being a chameleon. Well, yeah, because
(01:07:03):
what was it about? A month ago?
Speaker 6 (01:07:04):
He made a statement on his podcast about the female
sports Conversation saying that you know, he disagreed with it.
It should be females only, right, And that takes back
to what you were saying that he was trying to
kind of go more into the middle.
Speaker 7 (01:07:19):
Of right of the lane. But he's not going to
appeal to the base. But they need to change the
base because the base isn't working. That's not the base
of the Democratic Party anymore. It's just not there. So
they have flown the coup. They have flown the coop.
What else will we see the rest of this week?
(01:07:39):
Who knows?
Speaker 6 (01:07:40):
Because now they're saying what are the other cities?
Speaker 7 (01:07:42):
May look here, New York, I think it's started.
Speaker 6 (01:07:45):
New York, Chicago, Seattle, Denver, San Francisco.
Speaker 7 (01:07:48):
I will say this boy, I love.
Speaker 6 (01:07:51):
Governor Greg Abbott National Guard in Texas will be deployed
to various locations across the city that this will.
Speaker 7 (01:07:57):
Not be tolerated in the state of Texas.
Speaker 6 (01:08:00):
So they are preparing. And as you said, New York, Chicago, Seattle, Denver,
San Francisco, And honestly, do have these people know why
they're out there and what they're protesting?
Speaker 7 (01:08:08):
Now? No, absolutely not. They have no idea. You could
walk up and ask them a question.
Speaker 6 (01:08:13):
Boo, they have no idea. No, But let's end this
show on a good note. Lunch Otis one through sixteen.
Speaker 7 (01:08:20):
Put it in the randomizer.
Speaker 8 (01:08:23):
Who's making thirteen thirteen?
Speaker 7 (01:08:25):
Okay, we have got Jim. Jim.
Speaker 6 (01:08:29):
I will be calling you after the show to go
over all the details because you are getting free lunch
from River City on Friday.
Speaker 7 (01:08:36):
Elgin.
Speaker 6 (01:08:36):
Thank you once again, Otis, You're done. I'm done, all right,
We'll talk to you tomorrow.
