Speaker 1 (00:01):
Indeed number one tuck show in the Ohio Valley. This
is the bloom Daddy Experience. Your host bloom Daddy. His
goal inform, entertain, and tick people off. The bloom Daddy
Experience on news Radio eleven seventy WWVA starts now.
Speaker 2 (00:20):
The bloom Daddy Experience. It's seven o six on news
Radio eleven seventy. Good Thursday morning too.
Speaker 3 (00:26):
And you know what, there is no better way to
start off a morning than ripping on Alexandria Okrazio Cortes
AOC as you know her. I don't know if you've
been following this idiot's comments following these riots in LA,
but the other day she literally said that the Trump
administration Fox News was making a bigger deal than really
(00:49):
needed to be made.
Speaker 2 (00:49):
About these riots.
Speaker 3 (00:50):
That and I'm quoting here, it's just some teenagers throwing rocks.
I kid you not, That's what came out of her mouth.
Just some teenagers throwing rocks. When I hear something like that,
I saw a great meme out there. I wish I
could take credit for this, but it's not me. But
(01:12):
it said, you know what, if AOC and the Democrats
and the mainstream media were alive in nineteen forty one,
they would have described Pearl Harbor as a mostly friendly
Japanese flyover.
Speaker 2 (01:23):
Tremendous meme.
Speaker 3 (01:25):
Drives home the point of how idiotic these people are.
Speaker 2 (01:29):
But two points to take out of this.
Speaker 3 (01:32):
If she's saying it's just some teenagers throwing rocks, then
it's not what the liberal media is pushing, because if
you watch Giraffneck on MSNBC, you know who Jiraffneck is, right,
Rachel Maddow never seen a neck longer on a human
being in my life. You want to talk about an
alien life force, that's it right there. And I'm not
(01:54):
sure if she's a male or a female. I mean,
but anyway, that's for another show. Rachel matt said, Oh
my god, these riots are out of control, and this
is proof that the majority of Americans are against Trump's
migrant crackdown. She never says the illegal immigrant crackdown. It's
always migrant crackdown. And there's a difference. And there again
(02:15):
is how the mainstream media and some in the media
lie or distort the facts. So her narrative's blown out
of the water by AOC. Obviously, the majority of Americans
are not upset by Trump's illegal immigration crackdown. And you
know that, and I know that, But Rachel Maddow is
trying to act like it's the end of the world,
game over for Trump and everything else. She also called
(02:36):
gameover for Trump when he ran against Kamala Harris. That's
why she has six viewers. But you've got those people
out there saying, oh, these riots are are horrible. Yet
AOC is sitting there telling you it's just a bunch
of teenagers throwing rocks. That's point number one, point number two.
Every time AOC says something like this. Every time Mayor
(02:58):
Karen Bass or Governor Gavin Newsom of California say Trump
was wrong and you know it's not.
Speaker 2 (03:07):
That bad, blah blah blah.
Speaker 3 (03:09):
Every time you see somebody throwing a rock or setting
a car on fire or running into a department store,
it's another red vote. So if I'm Trump, I'm pulling
everybody out and I'm letting LA burn to the ground.
I'm letting New York City burn to the ground, because
you know what it's doing. It's getting you more Republican voters.
(03:29):
That's what it's doing. What you're seeing on TV right
now is the greatest campaign ad for Republicans heading into
the midterms that you could ever give them. It's the
greatest campaign ad for a Republican presidential candidate in twenty
twenty eight that you could ever give them, And it's free.
Just use that video and say, look, you know, leading
(03:52):
up to the midterms or leading up to twenty twenty eight, Look,
if you want a Democrat in the White House, if
you want democratic leadership, this is the kind of behavior
you're gonna get because they condone it. If you don't
want this kind of behavior, vote Republican. So every time
she opens her mouth, every time I see some idiot
(04:17):
on TV running around with.
Speaker 2 (04:19):
A Mexican flag.
Speaker 3 (04:22):
On American soil, I just sit there and I think,
you know what, there's some independent out there.
Speaker 2 (04:29):
There's somebody who's on the fence.
Speaker 3 (04:30):
There's a Democrat that still values law and order that's
just sitting there shaking their head, going, you know what,
it's time to vote red. So I hope they keep
doing it, I really truly do. I hope it spreads
to other cities because Republicans needed this. Hey, look, nobody's
talking about Elon Musk and Donald Trump right now. Are
they by the way, it looks like they're reconciling. The
(04:53):
romance might be back on, but nobody's talking about that.
Nobody's talking about tariffs, talking about impeaching Trump. It's thank you, Democrats,
thank you so much for being brain dead, for being
out of touch with the American people, who, by the way,
overwhelmingly support Trump's crack down on illegal immigration. And that
(05:18):
word's important because not once his the Trump administration before
or now ever said they were against legal immigration. See
aoc in the Democrats in the liberal media once again.
And when I say to the liberal media, I'm talking
about NBC, ABC, CBS, MSNBC, CNN and all the rags
(05:40):
out there that I would not even wait my rear
end with, they all skip that word. They make you
think you always hear we're a nation built on on migrants.
Speaker 2 (05:51):
Yeah, we are.
Speaker 3 (05:52):
Who came here legally, who came here legally. They just
seem to leave that out of the equation. That's the
biggest fault of your legacy media, your mainstream media anymore.
They don't necessarily lie to you, They just omit.
Speaker 2 (06:10):
That's what they do.
Speaker 3 (06:12):
They just don't tell you certain things, or they change
the narrative by just omitting a certain word. Because if
you go to most Americans and you say, are in
favor of legal immigration?
Speaker 2 (06:25):
Of course they'll say yes. Of course they will.
Speaker 3 (06:28):
If you go to them and say are you in
support of illegal immigration? I would say eighty to ninety
percent would say absolutely not.
Speaker 2 (06:37):
But they don't do that.
Speaker 3 (06:40):
Why because Democrats need more voters. People are seeing through
this party now. This party's so unhinged and off the
rails that you've got a lot of Democrats leaving to
be either independents or Republicans.
Speaker 2 (06:54):
They need a new voter block. They know it. That's
why they had an open border policy under by.
Speaker 3 (07:00):
They figure if they can let everybody in here, they'll
side with Democrats. Their goal is to eventually get them
to be able to vote even if they're not legal.
They're already doing it in cities across America. They need
fresh blood because they are losing and they know it.
(07:21):
That's the endgame. I mean, when I take a look
at where things are today, it makes me sick. If
common sense were just applied to this country, then we
would be totally fine.
Speaker 2 (07:35):
We would be But you've got people out.
Speaker 3 (07:37):
There who think a guy is a girl, and a
girl is a guy, and people can be called ninety
six different pronouns. You've got people out there that think
that if somebody wants to identify as a fire hydrant
and go take a leak on it and say they're
a dog and they call themselves Kujo, that they should
be allowed to do it. You just got nutbags out there,
(07:58):
mannut bags who think who think they should be telling
the majority of Americans how this country should go. Trump
winning the election kicked them right in the ass. And
I love it. This is the bloom Daddy experience. Eleven
seventy WWVA.
Speaker 4 (08:22):
Well, good morning, seven nineteen. Thank you for tuning in.
Of course, I'm Sam, He's Otis and this is eleven
seventy WWVA and it's Thursday morning, Otis.
Speaker 5 (08:34):
For the second time this week for me, Tuesday felt
like Thursday.
Speaker 4 (08:40):
That's right, That's right, Okay, I messed up?
Speaker 5 (08:44):
Well what else is new?
Speaker 4 (08:45):
So and I'm copping to it. I listen, I messed up.
So Thursdays is our Kirks Day.
Speaker 5 (08:56):
You didn't post a picture.
Speaker 4 (08:57):
I didn't even go take the picture. Yes, completely completely,
you hear that, Kirk, don't pay the bills, don't give
her her commission. Yeah, I dropped the ball. So here's
what we're gonna do instead, Judy.
Speaker 5 (09:12):
Don't pay the bills. Kirk? What am I thinking? Kirk
doesn't do anything over there. He's semi retired.
Speaker 4 (09:18):
Yeah, so here's here's what we're gonna do instead. We're
gonna make it simple this time around. Honestly, I just
it completely slipped my mind. We're just gonna do on
our text line.
Speaker 5 (09:29):
We're just gonna give away a gallon of ice Kirk's
ice cream. You don't have to do anything half gallon.
You don't have to do anything exceparate register Yes, that's sweet.
Speaker 4 (09:36):
Simple, So okay, simple and sweet.
Speaker 5 (09:39):
She's still not promoting your ice cream, Kirk.
Speaker 4 (09:41):
Are you promoting the ice cream?
Speaker 5 (09:42):
You're not posting a picture of it.
Speaker 4 (09:46):
Okay, listen, I know you know what.
Speaker 5 (09:47):
You try to do. Just post a picture of all
the flavors.
Speaker 4 (09:50):
Okay, I'll do that.
Speaker 5 (09:51):
And then that way people know what they can they'll
know what their half gallon choices can be.
Speaker 4 (09:55):
I'll do that along with if we want to talk,
if we're gonna promote the new location and Shady Side
had their soft opening yesterday. The official opening is Friday,
ribbon cutt exactly exactly, So there's gonna be never mind
(10:17):
official ribbon cutting and everything. And here's the other thing
I wanted to mention. The new location. The second location
also has paired up with a a with coffee shop. Okay,
so there's two businesses now in this one particular facility.
Speaker 5 (10:31):
So you can get coffee and ice cream.
Speaker 4 (10:33):
Coffee and ice cream or not a bad combination, or
a coffee ice cream float because Kirks has a coffee
flavored ice cream. So instead of a root beer float,
have a coffee float. Would that work? Word melt two chest?
Speaker 5 (10:47):
You can use ice coffee?
Speaker 4 (10:49):
Oh yeah, you could do that. So here's what here's
what we're doing. I know again, three zero three A
two text line name and phone number, and and that
is your registration for a chance to win a half
gallon of Kirk's homemade ice cream. Simple, yep, we're gonna
do it soon.
Speaker 5 (11:07):
And are we gonna wave the thirty day rule for
this one, So if you've won in the last thirty days,
you can win a half galln.
Speaker 4 (11:12):
Ice Yeah, let's do that. Okay, Well, I'm feeling feeling.
Speaker 5 (11:15):
Giving this it's not like we're giving away eighty dollars tickets.
We're given away it's ice cream.
Speaker 4 (11:22):
Yeah, the best ice cream around, but it's ice cream.
Speaker 5 (11:25):
Just be careful what you say there. We don't want
to make anybody else mad.
Speaker 4 (11:30):
No, no, no, but I don't want to say just ice
cream either.
Speaker 5 (11:33):
Yeah. Sure.
Speaker 4 (11:34):
Anyways, Oh, there we go. We already got one rich
thank you. See it right there on our text line
again three zero three eight to two. Start the message
off with bloom Daddy name infhone number, and that is
your chance to win. Along with that here later in
the show, we have our last four pack to the
Ironman this Saturday, so we're going to be doing that
(11:55):
here a little bit later in the show. Sure.
Speaker 5 (11:59):
Yeah, so we'll do a family four pack to the
Washington Wild Things as well. Vouchers. For vouchers, you can
go to any game you want.
Speaker 4 (12:06):
Busy, busy, so busy busy sports sports, ice.
Speaker 5 (12:10):
Cream, football, baseball and ice cream. Can't beat that. What
a what a June.
Speaker 4 (12:15):
That's the magical trifect.
Speaker 5 (12:17):
Happy Father's Day.
Speaker 4 (12:19):
Yes, Father's Day is this weekend too.
Speaker 5 (12:21):
I can never forget my youngest son's birthday because as
soon as the US Open starts. I know it's right
around there because when he was born, the the the
actual obg y N doctor said, hey, can you know
I got an intern or a resident or whatever it was.
Do you mind? And we said no. My ex wife
(12:44):
said no, it's fine. They got to learn somehow. She says,
as long as I don't know him. So it's funny.
As she's pushing the US Opens on and every time,
like there was a break in the push. The doctor
was sitting in a spin chair and he turned around
look at We both would look at the TV for
the US Open because it was two thousand and one
Tigers playing, Phil's playing. You know, they're all on the
(13:07):
they're all out there, you know, all the big names.
But I just remember him just turning around looking to
see what was going on.
Speaker 4 (13:13):
And what were you paying attention to?
Speaker 5 (13:15):
The I was paying attention to both. I was. I
actually had a good angle, so like my angle was
like here where I could see the doctor, like he
was where you are and the TV was behind you,
So I mean I had a great view. My perspective
was excellent, so.
Speaker 4 (13:31):
You you you could.
Speaker 5 (13:33):
I didn't have to do it. I didn't have to
do a spin.
Speaker 4 (13:35):
Yeah, you could get away with not being caught. And
was the son named after a golfer?
Speaker 2 (13:41):
Oh?
Speaker 5 (13:41):
No, he was named after a baseball player.
Speaker 4 (13:43):
That's what I figured.
Speaker 5 (13:45):
And that was the funny thing. Our first son, we had,
it was easy. We had the name picked out. We
didn't know if it was a boy or girl, but
we had a boy's name, we had a girl's name,
and obviously he's a boy. So we went with that
second son. We could not agree on a name to
save our lives. And finally she came up. She goes,
what do you think about Nolan? And I'm like sold, sold, And.
Speaker 4 (14:09):
It's so, it's so odd because your son's name is Nolan.
My niece's name is Nolan, and I have never heard
that name before except for, of course Nolan Ryan.
Speaker 5 (14:22):
And well, there's a lot of there's a lot of
people that are twenties to thirties now that are Nolan's
because of Nolan Ryan, more than more than likely because
of Nolan Ryan.
Speaker 4 (14:34):
Well. And I asked my brother when they chose the name.
I said, because he's not a sports person at all, football, baseball, anything,
and that would be that would be me and uh,
my brother and I are complete opposites of Usually the
sons are the sports fanatics. Anyways, I said to him,
I said, you're naming your daughter after Nolan Ryan, like
(14:55):
this is so? And he goes no, and he said something,
that's that's that picture, isn't it. I'm like, oh, God, yes,
that would be you know, one of the all time
greatest pictures ever.
Speaker 5 (15:05):
Never want to say young though.
Speaker 4 (15:07):
No, but no, they got the name. They were on
a trip before they got pregnant, and I think it
was Scotland, Ireland or Scotland and it was it's a
pronounced name over there a lot and that's where it
came from. But yeah, when he was like, isn't that
a picture, I'm like, oh, I'm gonna take your man card.
Speaker 5 (15:25):
So the funny thing was we knew what my youngest
son's middle name was going to be because because what
we did was we because they had my last name, obviously,
we named my middle son's his middle name. My youngest son,
his middle name was after her dad. Okay, so so
and soon as as soon as she came up with Nolan,
(15:47):
I said, oh, we're changing the middle name to Ryan,
Nolan Ryan Mattern. She goes not an f and chance
And I was like, okay, I didn't fight too hard
on that one.
Speaker 4 (15:58):
Well she came up with the name so Coude to her.
Speaker 5 (16:00):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, I give her credit for that one.
That was a good one.
Speaker 4 (16:04):
That was a good one. That was a good one.
How did we get to this idea? So I had
a whole other thing written down on our on our
prep page.
Speaker 5 (16:13):
But okay, well, you know what we need to talk
about next. I mean, we talked about slides Stone last
ways ago. We got to talk about Brian Wilson just
to his impact on music in general, and and and
the influence that they had on other artists, you know,
especially the album Pet Sounds. You know, we can kind
of get into that. And one of the things that
(16:34):
I didn't realize was that Pet Sounds was not commercially
successful at the time. It took it forty four years
for it to go platinum. Just and you just sit
back and you look at it, and you hear you
hear all the raves and everything about Pet Sounds, and
and then you you see a stat like that and
you're going, if it's so great, why did it take
(16:58):
so long? But people just they had a hard time
accepting that.
Speaker 4 (17:01):
I think, well, we'll talk about that more. Yeah, we're
gonna go to a quick break again. Our free ice
cream today is on our text line three zero three
eight two, name and phone numbers. Alls. We need all
we need as your registration, and then we've got tickets
throughout the show, so stay tuned for that. It's seven
twenty eight on this Thursday, The bloom Daddy Experience, salmon
otis News Radio eleven seventy WWVA. We are back at
(17:34):
this seven thirty six on your Thursday, The bloom Daddy Experience,
salmon otis News Radio eleven seventy WWVA. As I said,
I kind of messed up the whole ice cream giveaway.
So three zero three eight two is our text line.
Start off with bloom Daddy name, phone number, and that
is your registration for a chance to win a half
gallon of the famous Kirks homemade ice cream. And I
(17:58):
got to say, besides, besides Susan on our text line,
every other entry is a man and women tend to
be you know, the ice cream people. But dudes, you
are craving some ice cream today.
Speaker 5 (18:14):
So in his father's day, maybe they won it. Maybe
they won it for a gift.
Speaker 4 (18:18):
There you go, There you go. So again three zero
three eight two started off with bloom Daddy name phone number,
and that is your registration. Before the break we mentioned
well otis you kind of started mentioning the loss of
of course, musician Brian Wilson at the age of eighty two,
of course, co founder of the Beach Boys. Wise, I think, yeah,
(18:40):
I think you're right, that was what Sunday.
Speaker 5 (18:43):
Monday, I think the best way. Yeah, we talked about
it Tuesday. Oh okay, maybe we talked about it Monday.
All right, they all run together.
Speaker 4 (18:51):
Who knows, because you.
Speaker 5 (18:52):
Let's put it that we know we were live on
because we're live five days awak, that's right. That's right,
So we know we're live.
Speaker 2 (18:59):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (18:59):
Brian Wilson, you know, and we were. I don't really
know a whole lot about him, you know, not really
one of the people that I've delved into musically, but
I've seen, you know, some documentaries and I've read some
things on Brian Wilson. And when we were talking pre show,
I had it. I actually had it backwards. But Brian
(19:22):
Wilson and pet Sounds is what influenced the Beatles. In
Sergeant Pepper's Lonely Hearts. Club Land told you they had
kind of like a It really wasn't a rivalry, the
Beatles and the Beach Boys, but they fed off of
each other like.
Speaker 4 (19:39):
A friendly competition.
Speaker 5 (19:41):
I don't even know if you want to call it
a competition. But what they would do is they would
look and see. So Brian Wilson would see what the
Beatles had just done, and then he would come up
with his own little you know that he would try
to top it or take what he learned from that
album and then try, you know, work it into the
Beach Boys and what he could do, and then vice versa.
(20:02):
The Beatles would listen to the Beach Boys and they
would be like, oh man, this was this. Listen to this,
or look what he did here, and look what let's
let's do this. So I don't want to say it
was a competition, but they their creativity fed off of
each other. And you know that, and not just Brian
Wilson and the Beatles, but also like George Martin, the
Beatles producer, and so on and so forth. But you
(20:25):
know Paul McCartney, you know when he acknowledged the influence
of Pet Sounds on Sergeant Pepper's He even stated that
Pet Sounds was the inspiration for Sergeant Pepper. So what
they did was, he admitted the harmonies and the vocal
arrangements particularly and wouldn't It Be Nice had a similar
vibe to hear there and everywhere from Revolver and then
(20:47):
George Martin, their producer, recognized the brilliance of Pet Sounds,
felt that it pushed the boundaries of pop music, even
saw Pet Sounds as a challenge to the Beatles, inspiring
them to reach new creative heights. And I guess there
were some things there because Pet Sounds was kind of
like what they considered a concept album. The Beatles recognized
(21:07):
it as a concept album, which further inspired them to
do their own experimentation with themes and concepts in their
own work. So just I mean a lot of different
just the fact I mean, and then when you know,
when you see when you look at the fact that
it took forty four years for Pet Sounds to go platinum,
just doesn't doesn't make a whole lot of sense.
Speaker 4 (21:28):
Well, just think, I mean, the Beach Boys were just
here and wheeling last year. At the end of last year,
now Brian Wilson wasn't with them. No, but well, okay,
so let me ask you this. So when I hear
Beach Boys that name, you think of the surf music? Yes?
Do you think because of that name it sort of
(21:50):
hurt the not hurt, but pigeonholed them into a certain category. Yeah,
that that is why possibly.
Speaker 5 (22:02):
Initially recognition initially. Yeah. Can I can see that because
you know, you you had the California surf yau. I
think like like Jan.
Speaker 4 (22:11):
And Dean and that and that whole stuff.
Speaker 5 (22:15):
You're thinking like the Beach movies. Yeah, yeah, you know,
I can see that. But I mean, you know, because
Brian Wilson, he had the Beach Boys had forty forty.
I mean, they had thirty six top forty hits. He
wrote the majority of them and probably produced a lot
of them as well. I mean, just you know, but
(22:35):
when you think, you know, you think of helping Ronda
and Little Deuce, Coop and and Coocomo. You know, just
you know, there are there are certain songs out there
that you know are the Beach Boys. And they created
a sound, you know, or they took the sound and
amplified it.
Speaker 4 (22:52):
He struggled a lot through his life later on.
Speaker 5 (22:55):
Yeah, like he had some mental he had he struggled mentally,
he struggled socially things. You know, there were some things
that he had going on, you know that they he
was battling some dementia in recent years. You know, it's
just things that happened. Yeah, you know, and you know,
you look at you look at people that are creative
(23:18):
like this. You know, whether whether you're an artist that
paints or sculpts or does whatever, a lot of times
you have a lot of internal demons because you think
differently than the average person.
Speaker 4 (23:32):
Well, didn't he at a certain point sort of become
like a recluse?
Speaker 5 (23:36):
Yeah? Yeah, I mean, well they kind of you know again,
I think I don't know if it was that he
became one, but it just like he became very he
turned inward and you know it wasn't didn't didn't want
the public spotlight, didn't want the limelight. And you know
(23:58):
a lot of times that you know, with that with
some mental illnesses and so on, you know, everybody handles
them differently, and you just and again you look like
Van go cut his own year.
Speaker 4 (24:10):
Off right well, and he comes from a different generation
where a lot of things weren't spoken about or even
known about, that were not diagnosed properly, you know what
I mean, Like different generations struggled with things. And I
mean I think back to when I was in grade
school of high school, and it was just you know,
(24:31):
those were those were the weird kids, those were the
odd balls. Well, now that I look back and I
think to a lot of their personality traits and how
they function, it makes me wonder, you know, were they
on the the autism spectrum. And I'm not saying that
about Brian Wilson, but I'm sure I'm saying how we
have changed as a society and we know things more now.
Speaker 5 (24:54):
Sure, yeah, you know. And you know, if you look
at some of Brian Wilson's accolades, I mean, he earned
two Grammy Awards. He he got inducted into the Songwriters
Hall of Fame in two thousand, received the Kennedy Center
Honor in two thousand and seven, The Beach Boys were
inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in
nineteen eighty eight. I mean, just I mean, you know,
and he said, early on, I learned that when I
(25:16):
tuned the world out, I was able to tune in
a mysterious God given music. It was my gift and
it allowed me to interpret and understand emotions I couldn't articulate.
So you know, again, you deal with people that are
geniuses when it comes to certain things. I mean, like
I look at people like Jimmy Buffett. There's a guy
(25:39):
that's a genius because not only because of his songwriting abilities,
but because of how he handled the world. You know,
he would look at it and say, Okay, hey, we're
selling T shirts at our show. Well, how much does
it costing us to have these printed? Blah blah blah.
So he started printing them himself to save money. He
(26:00):
was a business Oh, he was a business genius. He
was a songwriting genius, marketing genius. I mean, he had
it all. I mean, but those and and he dealt
with it a lot better than Brian Wilson did. And
so you know, people handle things differently, and it's just
when you have that creative aspect, you're probably a little
(26:21):
off center with the regular with the rest of the world.
Does that make sense, Yeah, in.
Speaker 4 (26:29):
Society.
Speaker 5 (26:29):
I'm not saying it's a bad thing. I'm just saying
you're tweaked a little different.
Speaker 4 (26:34):
Yeah, you react differently. You you socially are different than
a lot of folks. And you don't want to use
the word normal because no.
Speaker 5 (26:45):
But in an average yeah, what if we do average? Yeah,
the average person. Yeah, you're tweaked a little different when
you're when you have that creative it's as super creative gene.
Speaker 4 (26:55):
I can't even imagine how somebody's brain, like a Brian
Wilson or an Elon Musk, what their brains are like
every day.
Speaker 5 (27:05):
Or van Go or Picasso or somebody. It doesn't matter.
I mean you just constantly thinking, constantly. Yeah, it just
you know, I just hope I wish I had like
one percent of that.
Speaker 4 (27:20):
Yeah, I take point fifty.
Speaker 5 (27:21):
I take yeah, because I am. I am not creative whatsoever.
In a way I am, and in a way i'm not.
Speaker 2 (27:28):
I'm not.
Speaker 4 (27:29):
Yeah, you know there's different.
Speaker 5 (27:30):
Yeah, there's certain things that I can do creatively, but
I'm not on there. I'm not on there. Anybody's that
they're not even close to that level.
Speaker 4 (27:40):
Well, stick with us. These creative geniuses are going to
be back. It's seven forty six on your Thursday. Let's
see what, uh, how our brains function? The rest of
the morning, you're listening to The bloo Daddy Experience Otis
and Sam News Radio eleven seventy w w VA seven
(28:02):
fifty one The Bloomdad Experience Sam Otis News Radio eleven
seventy WWVA. Coming up very shortly, we're gonna have your
first chance to win this morning. What are we gonna
do first?
Speaker 5 (28:13):
Football?
Speaker 4 (28:14):
Do football first? Okay, so we're gonna have four pack
to see the Ironman this Saturday down at Monarch Stadium.
We'll be doing that here very very shortly. We hit
on Brian Wilson and I have the Beach Boys songs
stuck in my head. You played one during the break
and it's just like bouncing around in there.
Speaker 5 (28:33):
Yeah, God only knows off of pet sounds. And Paul
McCartney said that was the best song ever written. I mean,
that's that's quick. When you get Paul McCartney telling you
that that's the best song ever written, that's that's a
pretty good endorsement. Yeah, that's a good endorsement.
Speaker 4 (28:48):
That's a pretty big statement there.
Speaker 5 (28:50):
I think I think, you know, Paul McCartney might be
just respected a little bit in the music world. So
just just.
Speaker 4 (28:57):
A smidge for a technical time. Let's get into a
couple of local headlines. This morning, waking up to one
person has died in a Belmont County house fire. Cruz
found the dwelling fully engulfed upon arriving at the scene.
Officials haven't released the identity of the victim, but confirmed
he is a senior citizen. The cause of the fire
(29:20):
remains under review. Terrible news, terrible news. An Ohio woman
says a surgeon operated on the wrong leg. Luicia Foster
went in for an ACL repair on her left knee
at the University of Toledo Medical Center. This happened in
twenty twenty three, but says the doctor mistakenly removed a
(29:43):
healthy tendon from her right leg. The physician reportedly said
the air was noticed after the healthy tendon had already
been removed. Foster, the patient, is now suing the doctor
and the medical center, which, of course, as I mentioned,
University of Toledo Medical Center. Yikes, that's not good, not good,
(30:09):
And then didn't get to this. Yesterday, the Attorney General
of Ohio Davis has announced that there are grants coming
to thirteen jails across the state of Ohio. I mean
I'm sorry, Yeah, thirteen jails that service eighteen counties across
the state of Ohio. The grants stand at more than
(30:32):
three point five million dollars and they are going to
be spread out across these different facilities. Now, this program
is for inmates for mental health issues and who are
struggling with addiction and when they are detoxing sitting in
(30:56):
the facilities from addiction. Now this affects here locally because
the Jefferson County Jail will be receiving two hundred thousand
dollars of this grant money. Now, this money can be
used to hire a full time addiction services coordinator or
contract with a company that provides these types of services
(31:19):
to treat opioid in other addictions that will then help
the inmates through detox and recovery. One sheriff out of
Ottawa County, Ohio says seventy five percent. This number is staggering.
Seventy five percent of inmates at his jail struggle with
addiction and or mental illness. Think about that, seventy five
(31:42):
percent of people sitting in the jail that this sheriff has,
which as I mentioned, is in Ottawa County, seventy five
percent are sitting there struggling with addiction and or mental illness.
Now this grant is to help with that situation. You
think about what we see and what we hear every day.
(32:04):
When I first read this, my first inutial thought was
why is this being paid for through this grant money?
These addictions? You know, why is this bill being footed
by the state. These are criminals sitting in jail. Everybody
(32:26):
has their own story, and I hate to admit that
I jumped to that type of thinking and that thought process.
But my question is how long will it last? This treatment?
How long if they're in there for a month, a week,
(32:46):
five days, twenty four hours, how long would will this
treatment last? Based upon how long they're in that prison
cell or jail cell I correct myself, jail cell. And
once they're done, what then happens once their time is
(33:06):
served in their release back out onto the streets. Will
the care continue From the way this reads? No, So
will they then be responsible the people to to continue
their their treatment? And can they? Will they? And I
(33:32):
don't want to to pooh pooh for lack of a
better term, on this initiative to try and make a difference,
But if the difference only lasts while these prisoners are
sitting in jail and then they're released right back out
on the streets. How effective will this treatment actually be?
(33:57):
Will have a long term term effect on these individuals,
because you can't take people who need this type of support,
whether it's for addiction or a mental illness, give them
that support for a short window of time, and once
again ship them out the door and say now you're
(34:20):
on your own. Maybe I'm looking at it wrong. I
don't know, but it just makes me wonder how effective
will this be? But again, this is happening across the
state of Ohio. Two hundred thousand dollars going to the
Jefferson County jail on this effort. It is seven point
fifty eight Let's do it one, eight hundred sixty two,
four eleven seventy caller number eleven one, eight hundred and
(34:43):
sixty two, four eleven seventy.
Speaker 1 (34:50):
Indeed number one tuck show in the Ohio Valley. This
is the bloom Daddy Experience. Your host bloom Daddy, his
goal inform, entertain, and tick people off. The bloom Daddy
Experience on news radio eleven SEVENTYWVA starts Now.
Speaker 2 (35:10):
News Radio eleven seventy. It's the Blue Daddy experience.
Speaker 3 (35:13):
Hey it's eight six, let's get this hour rolling good
Thursday morning too, And you know what, there is no
better way to start off the morning than ripping on
Alexandria Okrazio Cortes AOC as you know her. I don't
know if you've been following this idiot's comments following these
riots in LA but the other day she literally said
(35:34):
that the Trump administration Fox News was making a bigger
deal than really needed to be made.
Speaker 2 (35:40):
About these riots.
Speaker 3 (35:42):
That and I'm quoting here, it's just some teenagers throwing rocks.
Speaker 2 (35:47):
I kid you not.
Speaker 3 (35:48):
That's what came out of her mouth. Just some teenagers
throwing rocks. When I hear something like that, I saw
great meme out there.
Speaker 2 (36:00):
I wish I could take credit for this, but it's
not me.
Speaker 3 (36:03):
But it said, you know what, if AOC and the
Democrats and the mainstream media were alive in nineteen forty one,
they would have described Pearl Harbor as a mostly friendly
Japanese flyover. Tremendous meme drives home the point of how
idiotic these people are.
Speaker 2 (36:21):
But two points to take out of this.
Speaker 3 (36:23):
If she's saying, it's just some teenagers throwing rocks. Then
it's not what the liberal media is pushing, because if
you watch Giraffneck on MSNBC, you know who Jiraffneck is, right,
Rachel Maddow never seen a neck longer on a human
being in my life. You want to talk about an
alien life force, that's it right there. And I'm not
(36:45):
sure if she's a male or a female, I mean,
but anyway, that's for another show. Rachel Maddow said, oh
my god, these riots are out of control, and this
is proof that the majority of Americans are against Trump's
migrant crackdown. She never says the illegal immigrant crackdown. It's
always migrant crackdown. And there's a difference. And there again
(37:06):
is how the mainstream media and some in the media
lie or distort the facts. So her narrative is blown
out of the water by AOC. Obviously, the majority of
Americans are not upset by Trump's illegal immigration crackdown, and
you know that, and I know that. But Rachel Maddow
is trying to act like it's the end of the world,
game over for Trump and everything else. She also called
(37:27):
gameover for Trump when he ran against Kamala Harris. That's
why she has six viewers. But you've got those people
out there saying, oh, these riots or are horrible. Yet
AOC is sitting there telling you it's just a bunch
of teenagers throwing rocks. That's point number one, point number two.
Every time AOC says something like this. Every time Mayor
(37:49):
Karen Bass or Governor Gavin Newsom of California say Trump
was wrong and you know it's not that bad, blah
blah blah. Every time you see somebody throwing a rock
or setting a car on fire or running into a
department store, it's another red vote. So if I'm Trump,
(38:10):
I'm pulling everybody out and I'm letting LA burn to
the ground. I'm letting New York City burn to the ground.
Because you know what it's doing. It's getting you more
Republican voters. That's what it's doing. What you're seeing on
TV right now is the greatest campaign ad for Republicans
heading into the midterms that you could ever give them.
(38:31):
It's the greatest campaign ad for a Republican presidential candidate
in twenty twenty eight that you could ever give them.
And it's free just use that video and say, look,
you know, leading up to the midterms or leading up
to twenty twenty eight, Look, if you want a Democrat
in the White House, if you want democratic leadership, this
(38:52):
is the kind of behavior you're gonna get because they
condone it. If you don't want this kind of behavior,
vote report publican. So every time she opens her mouth,
every time I see some idiot on TV running around.
Speaker 2 (39:10):
With a Mexican flag.
Speaker 3 (39:13):
On American soil, I just sit there and I think,
you know what, there's some independent out there.
Speaker 2 (39:20):
There's somebody who's on the fence.
Speaker 3 (39:21):
There's a Democrat that still values law and order that's
just sitting there shaking their head, going, you know what,
it's time to vote red. So I hope they keep
doing it. I really truly do. I hope it spreads
to other cities because Republicans needed this. Hey, look, nobody's
talking about Elon Musk and Donald Trump right now, are they?
(39:42):
By the way, it looks like they're reconciling. The romance
might be back on, but nobody's talking about that. Nobody's
talking about tariffs, nobody's talking about impeaching Trump. It's thank
you Democrats, thank you so much for being brain dead,
for being out of touch with the American people, who,
by the way, overwhelmingly support Trump's crackdown on illegal immigration.
(40:09):
And that word's important because not once his the Trump
administration before or now ever said they were against legal
immigration see AOC in the Democrats, in the liberal media
once again. And when I say to the liberal media,
I'm talking about NBC, ABC, CBS, MSNBC, CNN and all
(40:30):
the rags out there that I would not even wait my.
Speaker 2 (40:32):
Rear end with, they all skip that word.
Speaker 3 (40:37):
They make you think you always hear we're a nation
built on on migrants.
Speaker 2 (40:42):
Yeah, we are.
Speaker 3 (40:43):
Who came here legally, who came here legally. They just
seem to leave that out of the equation. And that's
the biggest fault of your legacy media, your mainstream media anymore.
They don't necessarily lie to you. They just omit. That's
what they do. They just don't tell you certain things,
(41:06):
or they change the narrative by just omitting a certain word.
Because if you go to most Americans and you say,
are in favor of legal immigration?
Speaker 2 (41:16):
Of course they'll say yes. Of course they will.
Speaker 3 (41:19):
If you go to them and say, are you in
support of illegal immigration. I would say eighty to ninety
percent would say absolutely not.
Speaker 2 (41:28):
But they don't do that.
Speaker 3 (41:31):
Why because Democrats need more voters. People are seeing through
this party now, this party's so unhinged and off the
rails that you've got a lot of Democrats leaving to
be either independents or Republicans. They need a new voter block.
They know it. That's why they had an open border
policy under Biden. They figure if they can let everybody
(41:52):
in here, they'll side with Democrats. Their goal is to
eventually get them to be able to vote, even if
they're not. They're already doing it in cities across America.
They need fresh blood because they are losing and they
know it. That's the endgame. I mean, when I take
(42:16):
a look at where things are today, it makes me sick.
If common sense were just applied to this country, then
we would be totally fine.
Speaker 2 (42:26):
We would be. But you've got people out there who think.
Speaker 3 (42:29):
A guy is a girl and a girl is a guy,
and people can be called ninety six different pronouns. You've
got people out there that think that if somebody wants
to identify as a fire hydrant and go take a leak,
on it and say they're a dog and they call
themselves Kujo that they should be allowed to do it.
Speaker 2 (42:48):
You just got nut bags out there, man, nut bags.
Speaker 3 (42:52):
Who think who think they should be telling the majority
of Americans how this country should go. Trump winning the
election kicked them right in the ass, and I love it.
This is the Bloomdaddy Experience eleven seventy WWVA.
Speaker 4 (43:13):
Welcome Back, eight nineteen, The bloom Daddy Experience, samon Otis
News Radio eleven seventy WWVA. So, first of all, we
got a phone call during the break. We have, thanks
to our friends at the Ironman, a second set of
tickets four pack, second four pack to give away this morning.
Speaker 5 (43:36):
So well, Dave from Belmont was our last winner.
Speaker 4 (43:39):
Okay, okay, so you were out of the studio, so
I didn't hand you the paper yet, no, no, okay.
So now we have another chance to win plus our
wild things plus ice cream on our text line three
zero three eight to two started off with bloom Daddy
name and phone number, and that's your chance to win
a half gallon of Kirks and ice cream.
Speaker 5 (44:00):
So we still have another set of ro Man tickets,
We have wild Things, and we have Kirk's ice Cream.
Speaker 4 (44:05):
Yeah, so plenty going on, Plenty going on. I just
wanted to kind of follow up a little bit on
what bloom Daddy said and I this listen, everything that's
happening in La. We've we've talked about it multiple times
this week. Don't want to go down that rabbit hole again.
I just, you know, can't help when celebrities get involved.
Jimmy Kimmel put out a statement or on his show
(44:29):
the other night. I just came across this. He says,
there's no rides outside. We have more so called unrest
here when one of our teams wins a championship. He
is now the second or third person to compare what
is happening on the streets to La to when a
professional sports team wins a championship.
Speaker 5 (44:51):
Jimmy Gimmel sold himself. He sold his sold to.
Speaker 4 (44:54):
The Devil, to Disney and ABC.
Speaker 5 (44:56):
Because Jimmy Kimmel, number one, they're they're not bringing up
the footage of when he was in blackface, because if
you do that, that's like sacrilege. Now, well, he got
his start on The Man Show, Yes, yeah, where he
was basically.
Speaker 4 (45:09):
He had a misogynist pig yeah, he.
Speaker 5 (45:12):
Had women jumping around in bikinis on trampoline, so you know, yeah,
but yet it's all it's funny that all of that
material was nowhere to be found.
Speaker 4 (45:22):
Yeah, listen. And it's not as if Jimmy Kimmel is
a political savant that you know, anything that he has
to say about politics doesn't matter. It's just it's the
ignorance of what these people are coming up with trying
to defend what is happening. I had I forget who
it was yesterday. Compared it to the streets of Philadelphia
(45:44):
when the Eagles won the Super Bowl.
Speaker 5 (45:46):
Come on, come on, that's just I don't think anybody
was throwing bricks at the cops or.
Speaker 4 (45:51):
Taking sledgehammers to the sidewalks.
Speaker 5 (45:53):
They might have been taken, they made there might have
been a couple of cop cars turned over, and I
mean there there's been some, yes, But you know, it's
funny because Mayor Bass from La Now she said, oh, well,
you know, the protesters are aren't being destructive. It's people
that have other intentions that are being destructive. It's like, well,
(46:18):
what makes the difference, what does it matter? You know?
Oh no, they want to go loot the stores. They
want to do, they want to destroy property, you know,
for what, because they're thieves and their thugs and their criminals.
And it doesn't matter if they're white, black, brown, purple, green, orange,
or whatever. They're they're outdoing it because they can get away.
(46:40):
But you're letting them get away with it.
Speaker 2 (46:43):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (46:43):
Yeah, Well since we kind of went this route. That's
one thing through this entire coverage that really has caught
my attention. What is being said by Bass, by news
by AOC. There's a story out of Nantucket and Martha's
(47:08):
Vineyard this morning. The comments that are being made by
some folks when they are referring to these immigrants, whether
illegal or here legally going through the proper channels and
the proper steps to become a United States citizen. And
again that goes back to my statement. Words matter, But
(47:29):
the way that these officials are referring to them within
the workforce is they are so stereotyping immigrants. I cannot
believe nobody else is calling them out on what they
(47:53):
are saying. I mean, Mayor Bass yesterday or tuesday talking
about nannies and housekeepers and how are folks you know,
this is gonna hurt the economy if if folks don't
have their housekeepers and their nannies. Governor knews and his
big nationwide televised speech, which absolutely got torn apart on
(48:20):
social media, says, you know, dishwashers are being removed, gardeners,
day laborers, seamstresses, the terminology and the the job positions
that these officials are willing to call out, and how
(48:42):
it's gonna hurt the Californian economy. Again, it's so stereotyping.
So it makes me wonder, what do people like Mayor Bass,
Governor Newsom and everybody else that is standing up for
these illegal immigrants because it's going to hurt the economy,
(49:04):
what do they really think about these folks. It's almost
as if they're showing their cards. They're showing their hand
of racial profiling. Let's be honest, let's call it what
it is. That's what they're doing. They're profiling these folks
(49:25):
racially based upon the stereotypical jobs that they assume that
these immigrants hold. They've shown their cards, ladies and gentlemen,
they've shown their cards. Same thing with Martha's vineyard. Now
think about it, when was it a year and a
half ago, there were fifty illegals sent up from it
(49:49):
was either Florida or Texta. I think it was Florida,
and they shipped them out. They got them out as
soon as they possibly could.
Speaker 5 (49:54):
Yea. And now Martha's Vineyard which was a sanctuary city correct,
correct until the immigrants get there.
Speaker 2 (50:01):
Correct.
Speaker 4 (50:02):
Well, now they're upset because of the ice raids at
Martha's Vineyard in Nantucket. And if you think, think about
the money that's on those at those two locations, the
amount of money that walks those streets. But now they're
upset of the arrests of the illegals by ice. So
they were not upset when they were dropped off on
(50:25):
a bus from Florida. They were very upset then to
the point where they got them out within like a week.
They had them shipped back out. Now that there's ice
raids happening under the Trump administration, now they're upset because
it's hurting their economy because they're going into the beast,
(50:46):
the busy, busy summer season, and they're not gonna have
the backbone of their their workforce to take care of
the rich elite during their busy summer season. That is
what is so disgusting about the elites is they talk
out of both sides of their mouth. They want to
(51:08):
stand up for the little man and who they think
are being attacked when they when it serves their self
righteous mentality, so that it puts them on this pedestal
that they are those that care about the little man
until until they don't have somebody to nanny their children
(51:34):
or clean their houses. And that's what the mayors have said,
and the governors not me, So I don't know both
sides of the mouth. It's eight twenty eight. Listen, let's
do it. One eight hundred sixty two for eleven seventy
your chance to win a four pack to see the
Ironmen this Saturday down at Monarch Stadium. One eight hundred
(51:56):
sixty two for eleven seventy your chance to win four
tickets to see the Ironmn down in Marshall County. What
number we want to do? All right? Caller number twelve,
one eight hundred and sixty two, four eleven seventy. It's
eight twenty eight. When we get back what happened on
this day in history. You're listening to the bloom Daddy experience.
(52:17):
Salmon Otis News Radio eleven seventy WWVA. Welcome back eight
thirty six The bloom Daddy Experience, salmon Otis News Radio,
eleven seventy WWVA. Congrats to Dennette. She and her friends
(52:40):
family are gonna get to go see this Saturday, the
Wheeling IRONMN.
Speaker 5 (52:44):
So congrats.
Speaker 4 (52:46):
Oh oh the IRONMN man. I haven't anyways, so congrats
to her. And this is your last call on our
text line three zero three eighty two, name and number,
and that will be your registration for your chance to
win a free half gallon of ice cream from Kirks.
(53:07):
So three zero three eight to two is the number.
Start it off with bloom Daddy name and phone number,
and that is your entry and we'll be doing that
at the end of the show.
Speaker 5 (53:17):
And don't for you. We've got a family four pack
to the Washington Wild things we do. They are vouchers,
so they're good for any home game.
Speaker 4 (53:23):
So that will be coming up regular season also regular season, Yes,
that will be coming also because I see shun sunshine outside.
Huh yay yay. I can't wait to get out there
and out from underneath this air conditioner. Anyways. Okay, so
what happened on June twelfth, nineteen ninety four. Nothing nop okay.
(53:50):
Nicole Brown and Ron Goldman were found murdered outside Nicole's
Bundy Drive home and kicked off one of the most
culturally affecting murder trials in history in.
Speaker 5 (54:09):
A bunched investigation.
Speaker 4 (54:11):
No, well yeah, yeah, but now today isn't the most
I remember not hearing this. I remember where I was
when the Bronco chase happened. I think that's what most
that and when the verdict happened, Not exactly the discovery
(54:34):
of the bodies on the morning after the murder, but
that's what today kicks off. I mean, it was culturally
such a significant piece of history because it brought to
light number one, that celebrities are not infallible. Number two,
(54:58):
how are they? A lot of people learned how our
legal system worked through watching that trial.
Speaker 5 (55:03):
It was one of the first. It was the biggest
trial of the time that it had ever been broadcast.
Speaker 4 (55:08):
It spanned, It spawned an entire TV station, didn't it.
Court TV came out of it.
Speaker 5 (55:13):
Well. Court TV was actually I don't know if that
was the name of it. I think it was. It
might have been the name of it when it started.
But that gave Court TV notarioting because before that they
were just another yeah you know, I mean you might
be able to see a trial of you know, it
(55:36):
was some no like a kidnapping or they weren't, like
nothing sparked national interest.
Speaker 4 (55:44):
The Menendez trial was prior to.
Speaker 5 (55:47):
I don't think it was broadcast.
Speaker 4 (55:48):
No, it was because that was one of the most
significant things, was the testimony of the two boys or men.
People had not seen something like that before. Are I'm
pretty sure it was broadcast now wasn't on COURTIV TV,
I don't know. But today in history, of course, as
I mentioned, the bodies of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron
(56:12):
Goldman were discovered birthdays today, fifty one years old. You
might not recognize this name, Jason Muse. Does that bring
a bell to you? Probably not? Okay, So for the
nineties kids out there think, oh, shoot, I can't think
(56:33):
of the name. But it's Jane, Silent Bob. It's Jay,
the blonde with the long blonde hair, Not Silent Bob.
It's Jay, that's who Jason Muses fifty one years old today.
And then Victoria's secret model. You might know this name Otis.
Adriana Lima is forty four today.
Speaker 2 (56:54):
So.
Speaker 4 (56:56):
Also wanted to hit on some sport. Steelers Nation Aaron
Rodgers is married, like I don't know where that comes from.
But besides that, TJ. Watt still no contract, Still no contract,
but coach head coach Mike Tomlin has spoke out saying
(57:18):
we've expressed desire to get the business done and he
has as well, so we'll continue to work. We've been
here before now, Tomlin, Watt and the Steelers were in
a similar position back in twenty one. The difference this
time is he currently isn't training at the team's facility.
(57:43):
If they cannot get a deal done, I think saying
that this would be a significant blow to this team
is an understatement because the few times that I have
watched the Steelers when they're playing the Browns, what is
(58:08):
one of those players where when they need a play
to happen to change the momentum of a game. He's
that guy. He's the type of player that is a
momentum changer. So what they need to do, they need
to get this deal done simply, and the fact that
(58:29):
he's not there, it's pretty telling. Part of this is
tied into the Browns a little bit because the deal
that was just done for Miles, Garrett want wants something
the same or even above. Now, Garrett just scored a
(58:52):
record four year, one hundred and sixty million dollars deal,
which is besides a quarterback. I'm pretty sure one of
the largest deals for a defensive player in history. One
hundred and sixty million dollars for four years. But when
you look at Garrett and you look at what they're
(59:13):
very very similar. When go back to what I just said,
they are a momentum, game changing type of player. They
both have had those moments throughout their career. So we'll
see what happens with the Steelers. And one thing I
wanted to mention for Browns fans out there. I saw
(59:37):
my first picture yesterday and this just is like a
knife through the heart. I love football. It's not a secret.
It's not a secret. I have been a diehard Browns
fan my entire life. Otis, you mentioned this morning how
when your son was born, you had the golf on
(59:57):
the day I was born. The day I was born
was a Sunday and there was a football game on
and it was a Browns game. So I didn't have
much of a chance other than to be a Browns fan.
I was born on a Sunday with a TV in
the room and the Browns were on the screen. So
it was inevitable that I was going to be a
Browns fans from birth. So when I saw the picture
(01:00:23):
yesterday of Nick Chubb at training camp for OTAs or
whatever's going on right now and a Texans jersey, it
was a kick to the gut. And listen, I understand
the decision making. You know he's had I mean, he's
(01:00:45):
basically at this point has a bionic knee. His knee
has been just destroyed. But very few players come in
to an organization and just do their job. I loved
(01:01:07):
on Sundays watching Nick Chubb run the football. There are
so many plays from his seven years on that team
that will stick with Browns fans and football fans. Listen,
even if you're not a Browns fan, you have to
appreciate skilled players, and that's what Nick Chubb was. For
(01:01:29):
his first four years with the Browns, he had one
thousand yard games. I'll never forget the fifty nine yard
run against the Texans where he stopped and stepped out
of bounds at the one yard line to run down
the clock so the Browns could win and go to
the playoffs or get their first playoff win. I'll never
(01:01:54):
forget it. And I hate to see a player as
professional and is just there to do his job win
games and is quiet, doesn't care about social media, doesn't
care about endorsement, all that kind of stuff, just an
all around wonderful football player. So, Nick Chubb, thank you
(01:02:17):
for the years of fun watching you and the Brown
and Orange. It will Sundays this season are not going
to be the same for a lot of Browns fans,
especially myself, because you are going to go down as
one of my favorite ever to play the game. Eight
forty six. You're listening to The Bloo Daddy Experience, salmon
(01:02:39):
Otis News Radio eleven seventy WWVA. Welcome back. It's eight
fifty The Blue Daddy Experienced salmon Otis News Radio, eleven
(01:03:02):
seventy w w v A. We can't wrap it up
without talking to this guy, Kevin Cooks, Straw Boutomotive, Good morning.
Any food trucks up there today?
Speaker 5 (01:03:15):
Oh? There you go? Any food trucks up there? And
Straw Automotive?
Speaker 1 (01:03:20):
Wow?
Speaker 6 (01:03:21):
So you dial the wrong number.
Speaker 5 (01:03:22):
Did they answer, No, it went it went BBB the number, Okay,
I just I hit the wrong number. I mean it happens.
I make mistakes.
Speaker 6 (01:03:33):
Wow, that's the first time you've ever.
Speaker 5 (01:03:35):
Been That's that's it is not the truth. That is
not the truth.
Speaker 6 (01:03:40):
Yes, the food truck that was here yesterday was Gringo's talker.
Have you ever had Yes, yes, we have. Oh my
gone unbelievable. I mean just you know, absolutely incredible. Yeah,
I mean there's nothing like a taco truck.
Speaker 5 (01:03:57):
Well that's all we wanted. Thanks, We'll see you next time.
Speaker 6 (01:04:01):
That's that's all I get.
Speaker 5 (01:04:03):
So let me ask you. Let me ask you this
before you get into your spiel. Any are you a
Beach Boys fan? Did you have a favorite Beach Boys song?
Speaker 4 (01:04:11):
No?
Speaker 6 (01:04:11):
No, not really. I mean I saw where he passed,
you know, yeah, but yeah what.
Speaker 5 (01:04:18):
Yeah, yeah, No, it's a good run.
Speaker 6 (01:04:21):
Yeah, it's a good run. He was a little different though.
Speaker 5 (01:04:24):
Well, that's what we talked about earlier. I mean, anybody
that has that like super creative gene is normally a
little off center.
Speaker 6 (01:04:32):
So you're super creative.
Speaker 5 (01:04:34):
No, I'm just off center. There's absolutely no creativity here.
Speaker 6 (01:04:41):
Okay, okay, but I mean, yeah he did. He had
a nice run. Yeah, but he was he was a
little different.
Speaker 5 (01:04:48):
And we were talking, we were talking earlier about how
actually the album pet Sounds and what Brian Wilson did
with that album influenced the Beatles in Sergeant Pepper.
Speaker 6 (01:04:58):
Okay, So there you go, you know, enlightening us again today.
Speaker 5 (01:05:03):
We talked about it earlier, so I just thought i'd
shared that with you since you probably weren't listening. So
what's going on? A straw automotive?
Speaker 6 (01:05:11):
Uh? You know what, we talked a little bit the
other day about less than perfect credit. Okay, I kind
of want to cover that again today, man, because I
don't you know, it's, uh, there's a lot of folks
out there that over the past few years, you know,
things have happened in their lives that have affected their
credit score, whether it's you know, divorce or bankruptcy, or
(01:05:33):
a job loss or a sickness or you know, something
has happened that has affected their credit score and made
it difficult for them to obtain credit, especially when it comes,
you know, to a car, because that's a major purchase,
all right, And but what you know, what we have
here at Straw Automotive Group. We have something called guaranteed
credit right there. If there's a few, just very few
(01:05:56):
simple parameters that if you meet those, you're guarantee credit,
I mean period, no matter what your credit score is.
We have a way of putting it together so that
you can get in a sometimes even a brand new
automobile a right. It works for that as well. And
we have an outstanding selection of very very affordable vehicles.
(01:06:18):
I think there's like seventy five or eighty units out
of our four hundred pre onned automobiles that are under
twenty thousand dollars. Okay, some of them as low as six.
I think they start at like sixty nine to ninety five.
So you know, if you're out there and you're struggling
a little bit, and you know you're trying to get
everything back in line, and you know you need that
(01:06:40):
automobiles to help you get back and forth to work,
or help you get back and forth to school or whatever,
we can help you, all right, and we're happy to
do it. And you can start the process online. We
can do what we can do all of it online.
We can even deliver the vehicle to you you can.
You know, you sign all the paperwork online. It's a
very very simple problem. Say, we've got outstanding finance managers
(01:07:02):
that are just you know, waiting for you to reach
out to them, and we'll be happy to help.
Speaker 5 (01:07:08):
There you have it, and it also helps improve your
credit along the way. It does.
Speaker 6 (01:07:12):
Yeah, absolutely, absolute credit helps credit.
Speaker 5 (01:07:15):
That does.
Speaker 6 (01:07:16):
So yep every time.
Speaker 5 (01:07:17):
All right, my man, Well it's all I got. Okay,
all right, you'll have fun.
Speaker 6 (01:07:22):
What a beautiful day.
Speaker 5 (01:07:23):
We're going to go surfing USA.
Speaker 4 (01:07:25):
I can't wait for it.
Speaker 5 (01:07:28):
Have a great day, all right.
Speaker 4 (01:07:30):
Okay, So we've got a couple things we've got to
do before we wrap this up. Oh, get one through
twenty two. This is for our text line for the
free half gallon courtesy of our wonderful friends at Kirk's
ice Cream. So we want to do that now, got
to get there. Okay, Sorry, I kind of dropped that
(01:07:50):
on you real quick.
Speaker 5 (01:07:52):
Let's see number two, number.
Speaker 4 (01:07:54):
Two seriously, Okay, that is that is Warren? So Warren,
I will be contacting you after the show. Congrat you
are our winner for the free half gallon. So, speaking
of I don't know, okay, So is this an athlete?
So we were talking about sports before we talked to Kevin.
(01:08:16):
You know this name, Joey Chestnutt, known as Jaws. He
is considering returning to the famous hot dog eating contest
on Coney Island this.
Speaker 5 (01:08:27):
Summer a fourth of July.
Speaker 4 (01:08:28):
Yeah, is that it is that an athlete? No, now, okay,
skilled position.
Speaker 5 (01:08:33):
I would say, I would say that it's a skill,
but I mean he's not. He would never survive on
an athletic playing service.
Speaker 4 (01:08:44):
Probably not. So he's considering the return to the competition,
like you said, on the fourth of July, after being
banned in twenty twenty four due to a sponsorship issue. Okay,
I don't remember that.
Speaker 5 (01:08:57):
Yeah, he got he signed a contract I think with a.
Speaker 4 (01:09:02):
Different hot dog brand.
Speaker 5 (01:09:04):
It was actually the Vegan hot Dog.
Speaker 4 (01:09:07):
That's right, Okay, Okay, now that you yeah, Now I
remember he has won the eating event sixteen times and
holds the record at seventy six hot dogs. How long
did it happen? That just makes me I ate.
Speaker 5 (01:09:24):
Eight and three minutes. I couldn't eat a hot dog
for four years?
Speaker 4 (01:09:26):
Oh god, when they dunk it in the water.
Speaker 5 (01:09:30):
That there's nothing worse than a wet bun. I mean
you know I mentioned the you know, here's the thing,
like if I go to a picnic and some other
food touches my other food, like it, there's times that
I won't eat what's touched, like like I like if
(01:09:52):
you have something like if you have something running and
it gets and it just makes the bunsalgy, just that
kind of graces me out.
Speaker 4 (01:09:59):
Yes, yes, and we're getting to that season. Oh yeah,
if you get like pasta salad dressing on your hot
dog bun and it gets all smushy, no, no, thank you.
And here's another name, real quick, Cheery the raccoon. The
drama continues. Now they're considering if he's going to be
returned to his own or Victoria page Videll. She's fighting
(01:10:19):
for him, so we'll see if he gets back. All right,
one eight hundred sixty two for eleven seventy family four
pack to see the Washington Wild Things.
Speaker 5 (01:10:27):
Vouchers, Poor vouchers. You get to pick the game you
want to go to. We'll include a schedule, so all
you gotta do is take the vouchers to the box
office and trade them out.
Speaker 4 (01:10:34):
Call her number fifteen one eight hundred sixty two four
eleven seventy caller number fifteen one eight hundred sixty two
four eleven seventy. Enjoy this beautiful sunshine this morning. We'll
be back with you on Friday. Talk to you then,
