Speaker 1 (00:00):
The Brian Mudshow podcast is driven by Brayman Motor Cars.
My family is a Brayman Motor Cars family. Your family
should be to visit Braymanmotorcars dot com. Welcome to the
Brian mut Show and thank you for listening. It's time
for today's top three takeaways. Helpful, useful, repeatable. Yeah, so Elon,

(00:25):
he is not down with the BBB. We want less
government spending. Yeah, Elon is also done with Doge. No,
there's nothing to that. It was always part of the plan.
And so you've also got the tariff situation. You have
the Trade court that's struck down the president's Liberation Day tariffs.

(00:49):
So if you are not feeling liberated by the Liberation
Day tariffs, maybe you feel liberated now, Joel, how do
you feel to do you feel liberated?

Speaker 2 (01:02):
I was buying into the tariffs.

Speaker 1 (01:04):
That you were not. At first you felt no, no.

Speaker 3 (01:06):
Well because of what the markets did immediately, and then
you look at what the pre markets are doing right now.

Speaker 1 (01:11):
But yeah, yeah, no financial markets doing tariffs.

Speaker 3 (01:15):
I feel like long term, I'm I was, I am
trusting Trump with this.

Speaker 1 (01:19):
It was the trust in Trump thing, yes, yeah, and
you were You're not feeling very liberated, and then you
felt more liberated as the UH stock market recovered.

Speaker 3 (01:29):
And then we see what might happen today with the market.
But then they're you know, the administration is going to
appeal this decision, and then what happens with the market when, if,
and when the appeal works in Trump's favor.

Speaker 2 (01:44):
Yeah, so, yeah, a little bit nervous.

Speaker 1 (01:46):
I guess I would put a big astress on your
if there. If you're assuming that Trump is going to
win this appeal, I think you're assuming much. I'm just
I'm not going to I won't peg it beyond that.
I've already had some people asked me about, you know,
what goes on here with this thing. I'll probably address
it as tomorrow's Q and I but if I were

(02:07):
a betting person here, I bet the President does not
win this appeal.

Speaker 2 (02:11):
Okay.

Speaker 1 (02:12):
And by the way, just as an aside, and it's
not that I don't trust Trump to negotiate better trade deals.
It's that I always think about the implications of emergency
powers being used by future administrations that I do not
trust that it may not necessarily be a bad thing
if it goes down that way. Even if you are
a big supporter of the president. So yeah, sococ market

(02:32):
is getting ready to rally big because of that today
with the courts ruling and as we take a look
at my top takeaway today, elon not being down with
the One Big Beautiful Bill Box's Ryan Schmills.

Speaker 4 (02:49):
The former face of the Department of Government Efficiency, says
he's disappointed by the cost of the One Big Beautiful Bill.
Elon Musk telling CBS News the spending levels and astimated
increases to the budget deficit quote undermines the work that
the Dosee team is doing.

Speaker 1 (03:06):
Yeah, so diet soda, As Joel is already shaking his head,
Disney culturally, the Democrat Party, the Miami Dolphins, and the
education establishment. Diet soda, Disney culturally, the Democrat Party, the

(03:27):
Miami Dolphins, and the education establishment. What do all of
these things have in common?

Speaker 2 (03:32):
Well, I'm addicted to two of them.

Speaker 1 (03:35):
How's that working out for you?

Speaker 5 (03:40):
Is that generally things are things that are not good
for your health, maybe okay, mental and or physical, depending
on which one.

Speaker 1 (03:51):
All right, fair, I think that's fair. By the way,
I threw in the Dolphins entirely for Joel. I was
just working on this yesterday I did just I was
thinking down this path and I died soda because misperception.
People go, oh, it's died. It's not so bad for
you know, it's actually still very bad for you Disney culturally,
because Disney. I mean I can put my kids in
front of that thing, uh huh. The Democrat Party, I mean,

(04:14):
that's just unfortunate. And now I'm going Dolphins. I was
thinking that Joel cracking up, getting him worked up. So anyway,
those are all things that generally are much worse than
many people think.

Speaker 2 (04:28):
That was my take on it.

Speaker 1 (04:30):
Now, surely there are examples that come to mind for
you of things that turn out to be much worse
in reality than you had perceived in the grand scheme,
of things that I already perceived to be really bad.
The bureaucracy in Washington, DC is extremely high on that list.
For that reason, after years of having investigated and covered

(04:52):
things like the Trump Russia collusion hoax, deep state corruption,
learning that taxpayer money was being used to fund the
wu lad that created and late to COVID nineteen. Not
really sure. I have a lot of anything that could
be profoundly surprising to me when it comes to the
federal bureaucracy. For example, even as Doge uncovered things that

(05:13):
the Biden administration was paying for with their tax money,
like the transgendered prof and comic book Hero or Joel's favorite,
which is the Irish Dei Opera. Even then, not the
least but surprised. I mean, yeah, there's the specificity of
like who even dreamed up that we should create a
transgendered prov and comic book Hero. I mean, there's that aspect,

(05:34):
but surprise, No, not really. Other I'm just going, huh, well,
that's that was creative of them, because to me, it's like,
of course they did. I mean, for example, President Biden
literally declared Easter last year as a transgender Day of Visibility,

(05:55):
which honestly about the last thing I ever want to
see is transgendered anything, but like especially on Easter, just
saying remember that was also when the Easter Bunny had
to bail by a mount We also did what under
the Biden administration, allowed illegal immig criminals into our country
by the millions each year. So yeah, and we gave

(06:19):
them taxpayer goodies to boot. So again, not really anything
those depraved, evil and correct people would do in abuse
it's gonna surprise me. So maybe the world's most successful
and richest man was a bit naive, or maybe somehow
the bureaucracy is even worse than I perceive. Again, I

(06:42):
don't I can't imagine what that would entail. Elon made
news over the past day for two different interviews, one
of which won't air until Sunday. In an interview at
The Washington Post, Elon said that during his work with DOJE,
he learned that the federal bureaucracy is quote much worse
than I realized, much worse than I realized. So either

(07:04):
Elon was naive or or maybe we should just be
more concerned. I don't know how it gets worse than
funding the creation of COVID nineteen or allowing international terrorists
into our country with government provided benefits. But I mean,
maybe my like I was trying to think of what

(07:24):
that could be.

Speaker 2 (07:25):
I can't.

Speaker 1 (07:25):
Maybe Elon uncovered a transgendered easter bunny. That would be like,
that would be terrifying. The even bigger news was what
Elon said to CBS that's to be aired on CBS
Sunday morning. The man who not long ago was wearing
a hat that said Trump was right about everything said

(07:49):
he's not down with the OBBB. Specifically, he said this,
He said, I was like disappointed to see the massive
spending bill frankly, which increases the budget dev is said,
not just decrease it and undermines the work that the
Doze team is doing. I think a bill can be
big or it could be beautiful, but I don't know

(08:10):
if it could be both. So, yeah, Elon is only
down with a BB, which, by the way, he's not alone.
So on Wednesday, Sinclair Media asked this poll question, do
you think Congress should cut federal government spending?

Speaker 2 (08:30):
What percent?

Speaker 3 (08:31):
Joe?

Speaker 1 (08:31):
What do you think? How many Americans? What percent of
Americans are going to say yeah, cut spending?

Speaker 2 (08:37):
Well, I would be in there sixty five percent.

Speaker 1 (08:39):
And that's try. You're closing on two thirds.

Speaker 3 (08:42):
There.

Speaker 1 (08:43):
Eighty eight percent of responding said yes. Eighty eight. Now
this is important for a couple of reasons. Conceptually, almost
the entire country wants the same thing I say, conceptually,
and that is less government spending. My second takeaway today, First,
this from Kevin Cork.

Speaker 6 (09:03):
With his official stint in government coming to an end.

Speaker 1 (09:06):
Elon Musk thank.

Speaker 6 (09:07):
President Trump for the opportunity to reduce wasteful spending here
in Washington. As a special government employee, Muskshen only work
for the administration for one hundred and thirty days in
a single calendar year.

Speaker 1 (09:19):
Right, A lot of people want to make more of
this than is there. Guess what, this was always going
to happen. This always had to happen because it wasn't
allowed to work past one hundred and thirty days, and
one hundred and thirty days happens to be tomorrow.

Speaker 3 (09:35):
Now.

Speaker 1 (09:35):
In reality, the moment a certain percentage of the country
that's a net recipient of government provided benefits. When I
was talking about the eighty eight percent thing, the moment
that they would told be told that their free government
handouts would be going away, numbers probably going to come
down right by the way, you missed this covered here recently,

(09:57):
thirty three percent of the country is on take, thirty
three percent on the take getting the free government handouts
that are anything but free. And that number is really
what's at the root of the problem here. People that
have chosen and have been allowed to live off of

(10:20):
government candy as opposed to using programs with safety nets.
But the broader theme remains. Most Americans do want less
government spending, and now it might be the Senate that
considers delivering it. The Senate, which originally appeared to be
the most reluctant terrain and spending under the One Big
Beautiful Bill that might be slightly less esthetically pleasing than

(10:42):
it's been built to be, now has some members like
Ron Johnson Ted Cruz talking more favorably about fiscal responsibility.

Speaker 2 (10:51):
That's encouraging.

Speaker 1 (10:53):
But here's the thing, and it is a considerable one
that probably stuck out, like as Worthum to Elon, Should
the One Big Beautiful Bill pass as currently constructed, we'll
have over seven and a half trillion dollars in federal
spending next year. How much of that is entitlement government
handout spending over four and a half trillion dollars. That's

(11:16):
sixty percent of the total federal spending if you're keeping score.
And what's more, by the time you factor in the
amount that has to be spent to service the debt,
meaning pay the interest on it, it's now more than our
annual defense spending. Just not a whole heck of a
lot of room left for anything like even the defense
spending and that's even with the provi and comic book

(11:39):
trendees having been dozed out. So here's the biggest issue
of all. There are currently three hundred and forty Americans.
How many are protected to beyond some form of government chees.
Next year it's one hundred and forty five million. Three

(12:00):
hundred and forty million of US one hundred and forty
five million are net takers. The biggest problem we have
with spending in this country, so we've effectively become a
welfare state. A third takeaway today Senator Ted Cruz is
Sean Hannity last night.

Speaker 6 (12:16):
We are going to secure the border, We're going to
rebuild the military, We're going to cut taxes, and I
hope and believe.

Speaker 3 (12:22):
The Senate is going to cut spending more than the House.

Speaker 1 (12:25):
Yeah, that'd be good. The only way we'll be able
to restore fiscal sanity in this country is if we
significantly limit the not so freebies to over one hundred
and forty five million Americans. It is one thing not
to be a net federal income taxpayer. It is another
thing to profit from the federal income tax system. That
should never have become a thing. You know, we have

(12:47):
an alternative minimum tax, meaning if you're an above a
certain level, it doesn't matter what you have in deductions,
you've got to pay at least an x amount of
taxes the other We absolutely should have it going the
other way. You should never, under any circumstance being be
able to profit off the federal income tax system. Should
not have a third of people do that. If we
fix that, we'd fix most of this. Do I have

(13:09):
any confidence that Congress is going to do the right
thing here but the politically hard thing. No, not at all,
Not at all. And maybe that's what Elan meant by
the bureaucracy being worse than he realized. Dosing is important,
but it's not possible to doze our way out of
this budget mess. Self reliance and an end to end
list government assistance programs for the masses. That is the

(13:30):
only way. Most Americans say they want it, We should
give it to them. Save the fiscal future for country
and the process.
