This is Florida's views that impacts you on the Brian
Mud Show.

Speaker 1 (00:18):
Yeah, it is Brian and Joel Malcolm with you.

Speaker 2 (00:21):
Good morning, and as we're taking a look what's happened
in the Palm Beach County School District in dropping DEI policies.
Of course, it's just a day ago that you had
this big story out of Brevard County. It feels like
a couple of years ago when we were going through
a lot of these things. This is also instructive the
firing of the teacher, Melissa Calhoun, the teacher who had

(00:44):
not engaged with Flores parental rights and education law.

Speaker 3 (00:48):
The English teacher used a seventeen year old students preferred
name to reflect gender identity and violation of state law.
Dozens of students and parents showed up in support of
Calhoun at the board's Tuesday night meeting to her contract
to be renewed.

Speaker 2 (01:04):
I think it's really awful, but just for respecting someone,
you know, all of all of this has happened. I
wonder what it is or how long you have to
practice to talk like this, because it's not actually normal
for anybody ever do it. How long does it take
to get this affected anyway? Or disrespecting people? So as
we're disrespecting people here, how about respecting the parents, you know,

(01:28):
the actual parents that were not made aware that their
teacher had turned their child into a tranny. How about
respecting the parents?

Speaker 3 (01:39):
I don't know, just a thought.

Speaker 2 (01:42):
Okay, So one other thing that report is dot Joel's dying.

Speaker 1 (01:44):
Ever here the.

Speaker 2 (01:48):
You hear all the organization there.

Speaker 1 (01:50):
Now, those of us.

Speaker 2 (01:51):
With lives don't generally have the ability to organize on
that kind of scale in the middle of a week, right,
it's difficult. The unions have nothing better to do. And
so this was true the Palm Beach County school districts
last night. If you look at the stories, most of
the reporting you're going to see in public comment union people,

(02:12):
because you had, of course the teachers Union out there,
and you had SCIU, these two hardcore leftist organizations. And
so you need to make sure that you have your
level of support her to these school board members, especially
as what's happened here has only taken place for ninety days.

Speaker 1 (02:30):
So about this real quick, it's kind of run through
the ball of wax.

Speaker 2 (02:33):
Palm Beach County School Board adopted ten temporary role changes
eliminating DEI or Diversity, Equity and Inclusion directors throughout the
school districts yesterday. The changes in response to a demand
by the US Department of Education for all school districts
to come into compliance with the Civil Rights Act or
risk losing three hundred million dollars in federal funding. The
initial letter from the federal government issued in February the

(02:55):
Florida Department of Education issuing a follow up questionnaire that
was to be completed by April eighteenth. In the state's questionnaire,
the school district answered that it was in compliance, prompting
a series of emergency actions by the district to eliminate
its violating initiatives this week. So yesterday's vote prompts changes
for the next ninety days while providing for the time

(03:18):
for public comment that wasn't available preceding this emergency action
this week, so that's when final changes can be made,
which is also why you need to keep your voice up,
because again, this is not a final action just yet.
Residents of bok ratone will receive a twenty five percent
