Anthony Wainwright died by lethal injection Tuesday at the state
prison in Stark, northeast of Gainesville. He was convicted of
raping and killing Carmen Gayheart more than three decades ago.
Wainwright's attorneys, since his sentence was handed down in nineteen
ninety five, have argued that errors in his case led
to him being put on death row. On Monday, the

US Supreme Court, without comment, denied a final appeal to
stop the execution. A relative of the victims said thirty

law enforcement, correctional and correctional probation officer benefits that new
law provides for insurance coverage for families of officers injured
in the line of duty or training offenses involving children.
