Speaker 1 (00:05):
From West Palm Beach to Tallahassee. This is Florida's news
that impacts you on the Brian Mudshow. Yeah, sure enough is.
Joe will be back with us on Monday as we
take a look at news from around our state. DOGE,
the Florida DOGE, as they are digging in and we're
starting to get some of those early audits released. The
biggest offender, according to Florida CFO Blazing Golia, maybe not
(00:30):
where you would have expected it. Here's Fox thirteen in
Tampa Bay reporting wasteful excessive spending knows no partisan bounds.
Speaker 2 (00:38):
Florida Chief Financial Officer Blazing Golia has said of the
seven counties and cities analyzed by the Florida Agency for
Fiscal Oversight, Manitate County was the worst.
Speaker 1 (00:47):
He said.
Speaker 2 (00:48):
The counties general fund funded by property taxes, increased by
two hundred and sixty nine million dollars sixty nine percent
increase in five years, the largest they've seen anywhere.
Speaker 1 (01:00):
Yeah, man team, So I'm still looking forward to being
able to dig into what's going on in Palm Beach
County and some of the others in South Florida as well.
Speaking of which, Florida Speaker. Now, a lot of the
dose stuff is around the idea of trying to make
the case that we don't need as much local government spending.
(01:20):
We could end homestead of property taxes in this state. Well,
Florida House Speaker Daniel Prez, who often has been at
odds with Governor de Santis this year, has announced eight
property tax relief proposals that will be under consideration before
the legislature when next year's session kicks off in January. Notably,
none of the proposals aligned directly with Governor DeSantis's call
(01:43):
for an end to all homestead of property taxes. The
two closest proposals include one that would end non school
property taxes, while another would exempt homeowners sixty five and older.
I will dive into that next week, and we'll have
comprehensive analysis of what look like and also the potential implications.
(02:04):
No word from Governor d Santis yet. Ought to be
interesting to see those next steps. A new ordnance banning
the use of e bikes and scooters on sidewalks in
Palm Beach now in effect. Additionally, e bike riders under
the age of fifteen are prohibited on public streets in
Palm Beach as well. Noah's Climate Prediction Center released its
(02:25):
winter forecast projections for December, January, and February on Thursday.
Forecast calls for dryer and warmer than usual conditions throughout
much of the southern United States, including South Florida and
the Treasure Coast, with much of the northern US expected
to see colder and wetter than usual conditions. Snowbird season
(02:50):
on be especially big this year, stunning pleasant yet again
today high as low eighties typical for the state. We
do have a thin plument, Sharon does, that's extending from
the Southern Atlantic through the Central Atlantic, inhibiting tropical development
on that node. Hurricanes that are tracking two disturbances. A
disturbance in the Southern Atlantic expected across the Windward Islands
(03:12):
into the Caribbean Sea has a thirty percent chance of
development over the next seven days. The reason that's not
greater is that you do have a bit of Saharan
desk sitting in front of it. A disturbance north of
Bermuda expected to drift east with a ten percent chance
of development. That one is not of concern. Gas prices
(03:33):
they fell by two cents per gallon. Yesterday, the average
price four regular unleaded state wide two ninety five per gallon,
and the bon Beach is average price three thirteen. Martin
the average is three. It is two ninety eight in
Saint Lucie and in Indiana County right there at the
state average at two ninety five
