Speaker 1 (00:03):
Facts, integrity and trust. This is the Brian mud Show.
As we take a look at the political landscape around
our state. We've got the latest voter registration information. In first,
we have a new candidate in the Senate race for
next year. Fox's Ryan Schmeltz.
Speaker 2 (00:23):
Jennifer Jenkins burst onto the political scene in twenty twenty
when she won a school board seat in a Florida
county President Trump won by ten points. Now she's trying
to once again pull off an upset.
Speaker 1 (00:34):
Lately, politicians have forgotten how to use their voice.
Speaker 2 (00:37):
Jenkins becoming the first prominent Democrat to declare in the
Sunshine States twenty twenty six Senate race as she'll try
to flip the seat currently held by Republican Senator Ashley Moody.
Moody will be the heavy favorite to win reelection in
a state where only one Democrat has won a statewide
race since twenty eighteen.
Speaker 1 (00:54):
And on that note, we have seen history month after
month in the state of Florida. For the first I'm
in the state's history. Republicans gained the upper hand by
way of voter registrations in November of twenty twenty one,
and there's literally only been a single month since then
where Democrats had a better month by way of voter
registration than Republicans in this state. What's proven to be
(01:17):
highly highly predictive of overall political trends in our state,
election outcomes have often been decided in off year voter
registration changes. On that note, when we take a look
at the Ford Division of Elections, they show us where
we stood entering September and what we saw. Democrats lost
(01:41):
a heck of a lot of voters again last month
across the state, Democrat registrations off thirty three thousand, four
hundred in August, Democrats have now lost three hundred and
thirty seven thousand voters year to date in this off
election year. Meanwhile, Republicans dropped only four preaty one hundred
(02:01):
voters in August. As roles continue to be cleaned up,
Republicans have only dropped one hundred and forty thousand voters
so far this year. So basically we're talking about Republicans
having netted close to two hundred thousand voters over Democrats
year to date through August. You take a look at
(02:22):
the breakout by way of percentages. We also have a
new milestone in the state, Republicans for the first time
have a ten point advantage exactly, a ten point advantage
over Democrats. So Florida now in R plus ten state
pretty remarkable given that wasn't all that long ago we
were the ultimate swing state. And when you take a
(02:45):
look at the actual number, the Republican advantage over Democrats
now stands at one point three five five million voters,
including the net change of twenty nine thousand, two hundred
and seventy in just the last month alone. And of
florida sixty seven counties, only eight currently have Democrat majorities
(03:06):
by way of voter registration. More of those are threatened
as we head towards next year's election year. I'll have
more on that next week.
