We are looking at protecting the Pumbeach as a tribute
to those who served and sacrifice, and during this National
Police Week, as we recognize those who serve us and
go out there every single day putting themselves on the line.
President Trump of course been in the Middle East this week,
but he took the opportunity to record a message. He
thought it was important to share this with folks who
serve in law enforcement.

Every day, Countless thousands of courageous officers, sheriff sheriff's deputies,
troopers and federal agents risk their lives to protect our
communities and keep America safe. They stand firm in the
face of crisis and faithfully pursue justice.

And this is all part of the reason that we
do this each Friday. You know, this is the weekly
reminder about not just the ultimate sacrifice that's been paid
unfortunately by so many, but also just for the rest
of us, about what is risked every day that you
have folks that leave their families pun a badge, never

knowing what the heck is going to happen that day.
And you know, unfortunately, last year was an especially awful year.
We saw a huge increase in line of duty deaths.
You had three hundred and forty two officers shot in
the line of duty. That was a big increase over
the prior year. All in, one hundred and sixty five
heroes died in the line of duty, including eight in Florida.

Now I have much better news this week. First of all,
it's the third week this year where we've had no LODs. Great. Secondly,
when you take a look at the overall trend line,
we have lost twenty five law enforcement professionals in line
of duty. It's twenty five to many. But the trend
line is significantly better.

Lds here todate are sixty seven percent lower than a
year ago. That is remarkable when we were talking about
a pace here that could have us near the lowest
levels and maybe one hundred years. So it's if we
can keep this up, there's something good that's happening here

targeted murders as well. It's not just overall lds, but
but targeted murders are down forty three percent over this
time of year ago as well. So let's pray that
this trend continues. And as always this reminder that you know,
we should back the badge and spread the word because
Lard knows that we need them every bit as much
