Speaker 1 (00:04):
Welcome to the Brian Mud Show. Thanks for listening. Passion
plus talent is unstoppable. It's time for today's top three takeaways.

Speaker 2 (00:14):
It's a big week for the economy and Florida Dojing.
We also have Joel bag He survived the bears and
foothills of the Smoky Mountains, enjoyed Nashville.

Speaker 3 (00:27):
I saw no bears.

Speaker 1 (00:29):
Yeah, how much time didn't you spend worrying about bears.

Speaker 3 (00:31):
Ahead of time? You mean I wasn't worried about it there.
I was too worried about the foothills. What I thought
was a mountain for a little while. I can't drive
on that stuff. But no, I wasn't really that worried.
I was okay with the bears. I actually was upset.
I never saw one.

Speaker 1 (00:48):
Oh, okay.

Speaker 3 (00:49):
We could have gone to Cade's Cove there in the
actual Smoky Mountain Park, and we did, and we didn't.
I heard there were some more inclines that you had
to drive over on that, so I didn't do it.

Speaker 1 (01:01):
And when I asked Joel if he enjoyed nature because
he spent some time outside of the we got me excited.
At first he said he was staying in the Great
Spoky Mountain National Park, which I didn't even know you
could do. But I figured out he figured something had
changed inside, done anything therein And then I found out
wasn't inside the park. And then I found out that

(01:21):
his idea of going to nature was Dollywood as something
you spending time in nature. I went to Dollywood.

Speaker 3 (01:27):
It's outdoors.

Speaker 1 (01:29):
It's outdoors. That'sactly some of it, actually not all of it.
But anyway, you wouldn't you do it again.

Speaker 3 (01:38):
I also went to Nashville. I would do that again.

Speaker 1 (01:40):
So I just yeah, no too anything spoke.

Speaker 3 (01:45):
Maybe I wouldn't stay in a cabin up two thousand feet,
which apparently is nothing.

Speaker 1 (01:50):
No to me, it was a lot. No, most of
us would not consider the two thousand foot mark like
mountain book a hotel. Okay, all right, well I'm glad
that I'm glad that you pulled out of this top
takeaway today. Buckle up, buckle up. So it is a huge,

(02:15):
huge weight for the economy. Alicia Kunya.

Speaker 4 (02:18):
President Trump is celebrating after striking a major trade deal
with the European Union.

Speaker 2 (02:23):
It sets a fifteen percent tariff on most goods, including cars.

Speaker 1 (02:27):
It's like, what were you doing? Yesterday. Yeah, I ended
up doing work for the show and ended up spending
some wonderful time with my wife actually mother in law
for a time and her friend as well. Had a
bottle of wine, spend time with the water Trump hammering
out a trade deal at the EU, Historic trade deal.
I just incredible what the man does. And in hindsight,

(02:50):
it was clear that there would be no slow summer
days in President Trump's second administration. And you had all
the people like when he was heading to Scotland, Oh
my gosh, she's heading to Scotland. And what's he doing.
He's going to his golf courses and all these things. Yeah,
the man's going to knock out an incredible trade deal.
It's going to bring over a trillion dollars into the
United States. What do you have now? So anyway, I've

(03:15):
enjoyed sharing with you the knowledge the President Trump was
the second most productive president in American history at achieving
his agenda through the first six months of his presidency.
And I've enjoyed a lot of the wins. I don't know
what your favorite winds are. My three favorite in terms
of outcomes, record load border crossings, double digit decline in crime,

(03:39):
that is also directly attributable to the border crackdown and
the targeting of criminal illegal aliens by eyes and also
the dismantling of Iran's nuclear program. A lot of people
probably it's going to be lower on the list because
it's kind of like out of sight, out of mind.
But again, the threat of Iran having new and how

(04:00):
long we've dealt with that. And by the way, for
all the remember how in the immediate aftermath of the
Iran strikes you had the President's detractors are like, oh,
you know, it's they sent them back two weeks, maybe
only two days. I think. Actually, as soon as they

(04:20):
just remove a rock, they're going to be right back there.
You remember how all that was going. Do you hear
a peep anymore about rons? So clear program that tells
you all you need to know. The more that they've
been able to find out, they're like, oh, yeah, well,
I guess it actually was more than a rock that
was between them and nukes. Now, so anyway, that tells

(04:44):
you how successful it was. But of course there's been
so much more. So this weekend I went back through
President Trump's accomplishments, but also what I had to say
coming into this year and my top three takeaways. On
January tewod I mentioned as my top takeaway of the year,
this is our year, and I said, if you waited
much of your life hoping for fundamental changes within the

(05:06):
way our federal government operates, this is your year. And
I then went through President Trump's twenty point plan for
making America great again, saying that I believe he is
dead set on making it a reality, while also adding
this said, I've never seen a president and the life's
work harder than Donald Trump has since winning the election.
The man has literally worked every day, including working on

(05:27):
Christmas Day. That's because he realized is just how important
every day is if he's going to be successful in
carrying out his ambitious agenda. And that takes us to
what is set to be another pivotal week for his presidency.
Fox's Lucas Tomlinson.

Speaker 5 (05:44):
The European Union has agreed to purchase seven hundred and
fifty billion dollars in US energy. Do you agree to
invest additional six ordred billion dollars into the United States
economy of fifteen percent tarifile most goods, including cars, Now
that you also agreed to purchase one hundreds of billion
dollars more of US military equipment and weapons.

Speaker 1 (06:03):
An incredible trade deal that Trump worked out. I mean,
when I was taking a look the framework of this unbelievable.
You talked about winning. We just won the entire thing,
to the point of where you have a lot of
the press that's going back to the EU and why
did you guys agree to this? And the best they've
come up with is we need balance. There's a big
trade deficit. We need balance in trade. Basically say we

(06:26):
needed to do our part with the United States. Thank
you come again. Just if you don't ask, you don't receive.
So anyway, after dropping in on Drome Powell in the
FED last Thursday, the President of course made his way overseas.
The Fed itself is going to make its interest rate

(06:49):
policy decision on Wednesday. Now, the financial markets priced in
a ninety six percent chance of no change. What will
Trump's reaction be? Then, That's not the only major financial
news development we get on Wednesday. It's also the day
we'll get the first rate on the second quarter's GDP. Now,
the gross domestic product, the the economic growth rate always important,

(07:14):
but takes on added significance given the first quarters negative
GDP because you know, if you put up a two
consecutive quarters, that's a technical recession. But anyway, economists currently
estimate growth to check in a two point four percent.
So how healthy is our economy? How do we do
in the first quarter or the second quarters? Should say
that began with a liberation day. We'll see, we will say.

(07:39):
Speaking of which, another big deadline coming up here Friday,
August first, Well, you might call Liberation Day two point zero.
So in advance of the president's deadline, Trump has now
worked out trade deals with or at least the framework
of with China, Indonesia, Japan, the Philippines, United Kingdom, Vietnam,

(08:01):
and now the EU. And the impact from those seven
trading partners probably a bit more significant than amazing. They
represent approximately what percentage of US trade? Dude? The answer
is forty three, So we're about halfway there, about halfway there.

(08:24):
Trade and interest rates, they're going to be in focus
all throughout the week might prove to be one of
the most important weeks of this second six months of
Trump's presidency. My third takeaway for you today audit us
not Joel based on his facial reactions it's pretty clear
he does not want to be audited. You you've been

(08:45):
there before, having you, You've irs woes over that way.
He's got his hand over his face. Now, don't audit Joel,
but audit us. What am I talking about? Well, the
dozing local governments. It begins this week. This is Fox
thirteen in Tampa talking about one of the locations won

(09:07):
the first three to go in Manatee County.

Speaker 4 (09:10):
Those audits are coming to Manatee County, the governor and
New Florida t Financial officer announced Thursday. County and city
data systems, buildings, and personnel will all be under the microscope,
a move that could potentially identify cost saving areas, the
governor says, and therefore influence property taxes.

Speaker 6 (09:26):
Property tax receipts have gone up eighty six percent in
the last six years in this county, and that's two
hundred and thirteen million dollars in increased collection. Now, there
has been growth in Manatee, but it's been about fourteen percent.

Speaker 1 (09:40):
Okay, So that is a really good way of laying
out how local governments have not been responsible, in my view,
in handling all these revenue increases, not giving us our
money back and then complaining about not having enough money
to do things. So my third takeaway today is audit us.

(10:02):
And I'm pretty sure nobody has ever raised their hand
and said it, certainly not Joel, but what we really
could use a bunch of audits around the state. And
I'm sure that the first three places to go they
didn't raise their hand and asked for this either, but
it is what they're getting. So one of the late
additions to the last minute budget process in June was

(10:25):
a provision that put enforcement measures behind Florida's doge laws.
So if Florida has actually had a doze law in
the books for nineteen years, so you know, we were
on board with doging before it was cool, but little
ever came of it because of the lack of teeth
and enforcement and also funding for it. But the new
law not only sharpened the ability for the state of
Florida to doze itself and its local governments. The teeth

(10:49):
that was put beyond it finds of one thousand dollars
per day per request, which, by the way, as Desant
has mentioned, was some of these local governments they might
put in one hundred ques, which means you could have
fines of one hundred thousand dollars per day for nine compliance,
so it's going to be potentially too large for local
governments to just ignore. And then it also allows for

(11:13):
the governor to remove non compliant officials, which we know
DeSantis has not been shy at doing historically. So this
week the new era of DOJAN gets underway, and first
up Broward, Manatee and the City of Gainesville. Speaking of Broward,
Governor de Santis had this to say. He said their
county government has increased property tax burdens by the twoe

(11:35):
of four hundred and fifty million dollars in addition to
advolorum collections. That's an increase of close to fifty percent
just since twenty twenty. But yet the population of Broward
has barely grown at all, less than five percent. Okay,
so it's a good point. I signed about basically ten
to one revenue increase. Solid illustration of the use and

(11:56):
abuse of taxpayers by Broward. But of course they're far
from the loan. Consider this. In Palm Beach County, taxable
property values are not fifty percent since twenty twenty, they're
up sixty two percent. According to the Palm Beach County
property appraisers preleminary reporting this year and Palm Beach County's
population has only risen four point eight percent over that time.

(12:17):
So Broward deserves dojing PBC certainly does two. So yeah,
audit us to audit our municipalities while you're at it.
And by the way, aside from the potential finding of
local government waste and abuse or perhaps worse, but I'm
not going to intimate that they're spraud as well, we'll
just say waste and abuse for now, what's learned could

(12:38):
also be key in educating the public about the abuse
of property tax revenues and what they've been spent on
and just how much they've been taking in these local
governments in advance of DeSantis' push to put an end
to home steaded property taxes next year. So yes, come
audit us.
