Speaker 1 (00:03):
Two sides to the story.
Speaker 2 (00:05):
There's only one side to the facts. Welcome to the
Brian mud Show and thank you for listening as we
are protected upon beaches. Tribute to those who serve and
sacrifice brought to you by the Good Greek Spireau and
Good Greek Moving and Storage. The weekly feature that designed
to recognize those who paid the ultimate price in service,
but also service a reminder of what our police do
(00:27):
risk every day they go to work, they put on
the badge, they leave their families, never knowing what the
heck might happen, and so often that can be really
dangerous things. For example, we had this happen on Wednesday.
Speaker 3 (00:40):
Police in San Antonio, Texas say they got a nine
to one one call from a motel, but the call
dropped before they could get details. As it turns out,
three police officers were nearby where a suspicious man was
taunting them. Police Chief Bill McManus told reporters the man
left and came back, shouting at the cops going back
to prison. I'm not going back to jail, then took
(01:03):
off running.
Speaker 2 (01:03):
He was running you, pulling at his waistband pulled out
a pistol.
Speaker 3 (01:08):
The three officers and man got into a gunfight, leaving
two officers shot in the arm and the suspect dead
at the scene. The officers are expected to recover, Carmen Roberts,
Fox News and.
Speaker 2 (01:20):
So be by the grace of God there you know. Unfortunately,
so many of not and if you take a look,
last year was especially bad, dear year. Line of duty
debts rose by seventeen percent last year. Three hundred and
forty two officers shot in the line of duty. Last year.
In total, we lost one hundred and sixty seven heroes
that serves, including eight in Florida. Now, the improved news
(01:42):
this year at the pace is much lower of LEDs. However,
we have still lost seventy three heroes in the line
of duty this year, including five in Florida. And we've
lost this hero since the previous update. And Ohio Trooper
Nicholas Cayton was assisting a disabled motorists when he was
struck by the driver of a commercial vehicle. Nicholas has
(02:02):
survived by his wife and two children. And as we
reflect on the fallen, remember the families as well. The
average age of a fallen law enforcement professional forty two,
average two of duty twelve years. In additional losing seventy
three law enforcement professionals in the line of duty this year,
there are fifty widows and one hundred and twenty seven
(02:22):
children who've lost a parent. So it's your weekly reminder
to back the badge and spread the word, because Lord
knows they need us as much as we need them.
Speaker 1 (02:31):
I'm Gianna Jelosi with your Fox True Crime Minute. After
forty years and three overturned convictions, and arrest has been
made in a New York murder case thanks to a
smoothie straw. Sixty three year old Richard Billdeou was arrested
more than two decades after a judge overturned the murder
convictions of three other men who serve seventeen years in
prison in the killing of sixteen year old Teresa Fusco
in nineteen eighty four. Fusco was last seen leaving the
(02:53):
roller skating rank whers who worked in Lynbrook, roughly thirty
miles east of Manhattan, on the night of November tenth,
nineteen eighty four. He was found nearly a month later.
She had been raped and strangled and dumped in the woods.
The district attorney says Billadeau lived with his grandparents a
mile from the rink. Authorities put him under surveillance last
year after new leads and recovered DNA from a cup
and a straw he used at a smoothie cafe. The
(03:14):
DNA matched a sample taken from Fusco's body at the
time of the murder. Billadeau was arranged Wednesday on two
counts of second degree murder. He's pleaded not guilty. There's
