Speaker 1 (00:04):
The news you need to start your day, and the
bomb Beaches had the Treasure Coast. This is the Brian
mud Show protecting the pomp Beach's tribute to those who
serve and sacrifice. Brought to you by Good Greek Moving
and Storage, the Good Greek Spuro and his team awesome
people of course Spurero, former SWAT officer in Miami and

(00:27):
well speaking of police as we dive in this week course.
The weekly feature designed to recognize those who paid the
ultimate price and service, but also to serve as a
reminder of what are police do risk every day they
get to work, to put in the badge, try to
keep us safe, never knowing what the heck might happen next.
And you know, unfortunately, we had a really rough year
over the past year. LEDs were up significantly nationally. We

(00:51):
had three hundred and forty two officers shot in the
line of duty. That was also a significant increase in total.
We lost one hundred and sixty seven heroes in the
line of duty last year, eight in Florida. The more
encouraging news we have lost sixty heroes in the line
of duty this year. The pace has been a lot less.
More on that here momentarily, First with an update about

(01:13):
a situation out of Jacksonville that has been in the
news for a while.

Speaker 2 (01:17):
Twenty two year old Willy McNeil claims his civil rights
were violated when Jacksonville, Florida's Sheriff's deputies punched him and
dragged him from the car during a traffic stop. Prosecutors
determining what they did was not a crime. McNeil's attorneys
claimed the Sheriff's department racially profiles and engages in the
illegal or excessive use of force. The sheriff says a

(01:40):
video clip of the last part of the traffic stop
that went viral only tells a part of the story.

Speaker 1 (01:48):
Isn't that often the case? So anyway, that situations we
continue to follow. Now, during a difficult week for many,
highlighted by the asassination of Charlie Kirk in the twenty
fourth anniversary of nine to eleven, I am pleased to
report good news here. For the first time in nearly
six years, we've had two consecutive weeks without a line

(02:12):
of duty death and law enforcement. And on that note,
here's the progress that we've made year to date. Targeted
law enforcement murders twenty six percent lower than at this
time of year ago. Accidental law enforcement debts are fifty
percent lower year over year. Total line of duty deaths
are fifty two percent lower year over year. So obviously

(02:35):
the goal would be one hundred percent on all those
Progress is better than not, though, so we'll take him.
Let's pray for the progress to continue. And on that note,
is always important to remember to back the badge and
spread the word because those who serve they need us
just as much as we need them.

Speaker 3 (02:54):
All right, let's got to look at some Florida headlines
to fight over and now former rainbow crosswalk over. In
the city of del Rey Beach. During another special meeting
last night, city commissioners voted to rescind their decision from
earlier in the week to challenge the state. In the end,
Rob Long, the Vice mayor, was the only commissioner to
vote against withdrawing from a plan to submit a petition

(03:14):
to get the state to reverse its order of removal.
The city previously voted to join the cities of Fort
Lauderdale Miami Beach. The artwork removed by an f DOT
crew this week after a rambling partial opening statement by
alleged would be Trump assassin Ryan Ruth. Federal prosecutors put
up their first two witnesses. Jurors heard from the Secret
Service agent who spotted Ryan Ruth's alleged sniper perch behind

(03:35):
the bushes at Trump's West Palm golf course, and the
man who spotted Ruth running then identified him later for authorities.
And the Valpins try to bounce back from last Sunday's
blowout laws to the cults in India. Defend's home opener
against the Patriots kicks off at one pm Sunday. You
can hear it on wave ninety two to seven in
real Radio one oh one seven. Those are your headlines.
