Speaker 1 (00:02):
A passion for the Palm Beaches.
Speaker 2 (00:04):
This is the Brian Mud Show Hughes Radio twelve ninety
w J and O. Hey is Brian Mud and my
wife Ashley and I. We love travel and we are
so excited to offer the opportunity to you to join
us in the vacation of a lifetime. We're going to
be doing this next November, so November of twenty twenty five,
(00:25):
and the trip of a lifetime, it's got to take.
Speaker 1 (00:27):
Place with Collect Travel.
Speaker 2 (00:29):
And the reason is nobody's been doing it for longer,
and nobody has been doing it better. It is the
Shades of Ireland trip that we're going to be taking
with an incredible opportunity for you to extend with us
in a couple of places that we've always wanted to
go but just never made the time to get to.
We're talking about London and Edinburgh as well. And so
when you talk about the trip of a lifetime, somebody
(00:51):
who can tell us all about it, Deb Scully from
Collect Travel.
Speaker 1 (00:55):
Now dev you have literally traveled.
Speaker 2 (00:57):
The world with Collet tell us what makes you so
excited about this trip in particular?
Speaker 3 (01:03):
Well, first of all, I'm so excited to be here
with you, big fan, and we're really excited to partner
with you and wjno on this trip of a lifetime
Two Shades of Ireland. I just actually did this tour
last November, and I can tell you Ireland is my
favorite destination and so many others because the people are
(01:23):
just so amazing.
Speaker 1 (01:24):
You know.
Speaker 3 (01:24):
It's really about the people, the culture, the history. Absolutely
wonderful place to visit.
Speaker 1 (01:29):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:29):
Dev When we were talking about various different ideas to
have this trip with listeners, when I said, you know
what I think, Ashley and I want to do the
Shades of Ireland trip, you are like, yes, that is
my favorite, let's do this.
Speaker 4 (01:41):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:42):
And one of the things about Collette in particular in
traveling the right way, you make it easy. So when
we end up traveling with you, the airfares included, many
of the meals are included, You have the entire itinerary
all sorted out. But you mentioned something that is really
important for us, and that is to immerse ourselves.
Speaker 1 (01:59):
In the area where we're going. We really love to
understand the culture, the people, the food, the drink, and
that really is how you do it. You really do
it right with Collett.
Speaker 3 (02:10):
Absolutely and that is our main goal to take care
of our travelers, but also to connect people with that
local culture, and we do that through many different innovations.
You know, guided touring with Collet is not your grandmother's tour.
So for people that are having ideas of being scheduled
to death on a guided tour that.
Speaker 4 (02:28):
Is not Collet, every day is new and different.
Speaker 3 (02:31):
The beauty part of doing guided with Collette, as you
pointed out, Brian, everything's already included. It's a beautifully curated tour.
There's a value in this too. I mean for listeners
to be able to replicate this particular itinery on their own.
It's reflective about twenty to forty percent savings and things
that you just can't do on your own, very unique experiences. So, yeah,
(02:54):
you get to sit back and let us handle everything
for you and deb.
Speaker 1 (02:58):
You know what we talked about travel.
Speaker 2 (03:01):
There are so many different ways that people like to
enjoy things, and what is so nice about the trip
Once we get there, whatever our particular interests are, the
itinerary can be customized to fit it. So you offer
up options for us. Tell us a little bit about that.
Speaker 3 (03:16):
Yeah, I mean they're not exactly every day, but we
do include choice on tour. And when I say the
word include, I want to just mention we are the
most inclusive tour operator. You'll see a lot of other
companies out there that maybe the price is less, but
there's not. Really what's in the tour is not what's
in our tour. We believe the musties should already be included.
But that said, we do like to give our travelers
(03:38):
a little bit of independence and nice balance on tour.
One of the ways we've innovated touring is to include
that choice on tour.
Speaker 4 (03:46):
So on this particular.
Speaker 3 (03:47):
Tour when we are in Waterford can have a choice
between the Waterford Crystal Factory or the medieval museum with
the Mayor's wine Vault, which I particularly I happen to
enjoy wine.
Speaker 4 (03:58):
So I did that part of it and.
Speaker 2 (04:01):
I can promise you that Ashley and I will be
doing that as well.
Speaker 4 (04:04):
Yes, absolutely wonderful.
Speaker 3 (04:07):
But it gives our travelers an opportunity to experience that
destination the way they would like to. So sometimes the
choice on tour could be a panoramic city tour on
the motor coach versus a walking tour.
Speaker 4 (04:19):
It just depends on the destination.
Speaker 2 (04:21):
And that's important as well, because you know, people are
in different places physically and otherwise, and whatever our interests
are and ability are, you are helping within this group environment.
Within thirty five people, we only have thirty five spots
that are available the opportunity to have those different activity
levels and interest Yeah.
Speaker 3 (04:42):
Absolutely, And you know, speaking of the thirty five people,
when I before I joined Collet, I really hadn't experienced
guided before and I wasn't sure about that part of it.
Speaker 4 (04:53):
And Brian, I can tell you it is my favorite part.
The social aspect.
Speaker 3 (04:57):
I have friends all over the world now. I've met
people from Australia and Canada, and most recently on my
Spain and Portugal tour, I actually met ten people who
live within fifteen.
Speaker 4 (05:06):
Miles of where I do.
Speaker 3 (05:08):
So we just had a reunion a couple of weeks ago,
and it's really amazing. I just, yeah, the value of that,
you can't even put a price on.
Speaker 1 (05:15):
It, absolutely is.
Speaker 2 (05:16):
We have friends in places that we never would have
dreamed as well from similar experiences.
Speaker 1 (05:21):
There is so much to be said for it.
Speaker 2 (05:23):
And when you talk about you know, the trip, the
itinerary and you're starting to take an interest here. What
I want you to do is to go to WJNO
dot com and you'll end up seeing a landing page,
you'll see my picture, You'll have the opportunity to get
more information with collect and also the opportunity to sign up.
So again that is WJNO dot com. You can also
(05:46):
call eight hundred five eight one eighty nine forty two.
That's eight hundred five eight one eighty nine forty two.
The booking number is one two six eight five five three.
That's one two six eight five five three. So if
that's a lot of numbers right now, I understand, it's okay.
You just go to WJNO dot com and get that information.
It all ends up in the same place. To join
(06:08):
us for this vacation of a lifetime as we are
going to be touring Ireland, and also we're going to
be telling you in just a bit about a wonderful
extension in England and Scotland as well. Deb walk us
through as you're telling us these experiences, what days are
going to be like, because the itinerary is so exciting,
from you know, the days and castles to some of
(06:31):
these places that we've seen pictures of and we've heard about,
but now we're actually going to be staying.
Speaker 3 (06:37):
There absolutely, And you know, I'm going to tell you
that Shades of Ireland is actually our number one selling
tour for over twenty years. You know, it's the destination,
but it's also the way we do it. And all
of our tours, you have a tour manager that is
like your concierge, that is with you the entire time.
Speaker 4 (06:53):
On top of having that tour.
Speaker 3 (06:55):
Manager who's connecting you to all of these local sites
in the local culture, we're bringing on low local guides
from these individual cities as well, and in my experience
in Ireland, these are the storytellers, these are the characters
and they really make it special.
Speaker 4 (07:08):
So again, I took this to our.
Speaker 3 (07:10):
Last November and I literally every day kept saying, this
is magic.
Speaker 4 (07:15):
It can't be like this again.
Speaker 3 (07:16):
Tomorrow I will share that we had some very unusual
weather in Ireland last November. It did not rain, and
I want to just give everybody the right expectation.
Speaker 4 (07:26):
Ireland's climate, as you know, Brian, it's a very rainy place.
It's kind of cooler tropical, but not tropical.
Speaker 2 (07:32):
I've been in Seattle when it didn't rain as well,
so maybe it was like that for you.
Speaker 3 (07:36):
We just had two days of rain, which is typical
in the fog and everything, but rainbows every day, which
just really was totally magical.
Speaker 4 (07:43):
But again it was the people.
Speaker 3 (07:45):
The people are just warm and beautiful, and the countryside
is spectacular, the rugged coastline. You know, we're taking you
through that, through the Ring of Carry, which is arguably
one of the most beautiful coastal drives in the entire world,
and it's a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and we're seeing
all the amazing sites in these different cities. So we're
kicking it off by flying out of Miami, and like
(08:07):
most European flights, that'll be an overnight flight, so will
arrive sometime the next morning in Dublin, and which.
Speaker 2 (08:16):
Is actually perfect anyway, because that way, you know, as
we're adjusting, we'll be able to sleep on the way
over there and being good shape and ready to go
the next year.
Speaker 3 (08:24):
I encourage everybody to try to sleep on the plane
and not take a nap when you get there, right
so if you do take a get there, you've just
destroyed the opportunity.
Speaker 4 (08:32):
To get on the local time.
Speaker 3 (08:34):
Plus we're going to have a meeting that evening and
a welcome dinner with your fellow travelers, so you want
to make sure that you're up and ready to do that.
Speaker 4 (08:43):
But we're in Dublin.
Speaker 3 (08:44):
We're having a traditional Irish evening of Irish cuisine and
a traditional Irish dance and music show. It's really wonderful.
We're visiting Kilkenny and Waterford again. The choice on tour
included there the Waterford Crystal Factory or the Waterford Medieval
Museum and that beautiful wineball. We're visiting Blarney Castle and
you know a lot of people think Blarney Castle is
(09:05):
all about kissing the Blarney Stone.
Speaker 4 (09:07):
It's all about the gardens.
Speaker 3 (09:08):
The gardens there are absolutely magnificent, and the walls around
the castle. So we are doing a jaunting car ride,
traditional jaunting car ride in Killarney, in the National Park
again that ring of Kerry, Limerick Cliss some more, which
is absolutely stunning, beautiful views of the whole coastline and
I have to share with you one of the things
(09:29):
people come back talking about on this tour all the
time is the sheep dog demonstration. Oh no kidding, Oh yeah,
it's absolutely wonderful. I myself have a herding dog. I
have an Aussie. I love these dogs. They're just so smart.
But you're going to see the farmer who actually has
a whistle for each dog. It's comical, but they all
are so intelligent they know exactly which whistle is for them,
(09:49):
and you'll see them working, you know, and hurting these sheep.
We are visiting Galway Castle, stay in Kings Court at
Copper Castle. I would say it's probably one of the
top highlights of the whole tour.
Speaker 1 (10:00):
We are super excited about that.
Speaker 2 (10:01):
I mean, there are so many different things, but that
in particular, we Ashley and I are.
Speaker 1 (10:06):
Just all about the castles.
Speaker 2 (10:08):
Yeah, and we've watched a lot of the shows that
feature these castles and being able to be there is phenomenal.
Speaker 3 (10:17):
Yeah. And it's you know, I want to say too,
because people get the idea of castle. We are staying
in a portion of the castle that are the carriage
rooms that are still medieval. However, what I loved about
this is you have this medieval room, but the bathrooms
are one hundred percent modern.
Speaker 1 (10:33):
That's good, that's helpful.
Speaker 2 (10:36):
So it'd kind of be like the camping version of
glamping in the castle, Yes exactly.
Speaker 4 (10:44):
But we are covering a lot of territory on this tour.
Speaker 3 (10:47):
So just to give you an idea, you have that
day one is your overnight flight and then we have
two nights at the Gresham in Dublin.
Speaker 4 (10:55):
And I want to mention too, all of our hotels
are always going to be listed. You guys can go
check them.
Speaker 3 (10:59):
We're a four four and have star tour operator sometimes
like that castle is definitely five star on average, we
say four star. We're spending a night at the Granville
Hotel in Waterford, we are spending two nights at the
Killarney Avenue Hotel in Killarney, two nights at the George
Hotel in.
Speaker 4 (11:15):
Limerick and then that final night at Cobber Castle in
King's Court.
Speaker 3 (11:19):
So you can see that pacing there only one night's
stay most or two one night stays most two nights
days and that's typical for collect. You'll see more two
and three nights stays with us. So you don't feel rushed.
Speaker 1 (11:30):
And that's all part of this too.
Speaker 2 (11:32):
You have this worked out so it's not like we
are having to stress going from one location to the next.
Speaker 1 (11:39):
It is a science.
Speaker 2 (11:40):
We just you know, sit back and enjoy ourselves and
are there to take in each location.
Speaker 4 (11:45):
That's right.
Speaker 3 (11:46):
I mean, you do have independent time, but our goal
is to make sure that all the musties are there,
so you're not gonna have to worry about, you know,
not seeing something later and feeling like, oh I miss that.
But we do have a great balance of independent time too,
so you know, you actually might want to gone shop
for some wool somewhere.
Speaker 4 (12:01):
You know, there's a lot of wool wool.
Speaker 3 (12:03):
And I'm a soccer for shopping and wherever I am.
I live in South Florida and I still bought woolen
blankets and sweaters.
Speaker 4 (12:10):
But they're great gifts.
Speaker 2 (12:13):
Deb we talked about the convenience that goes along with
this package. This includes start to finish, the airfares included.
Transportation even to and from the airport is included. That's
always a big deal.
Speaker 3 (12:26):
Yeah, so we when people are we want to take
the stress out of travel, so we do provide transportation
for the group to and from Miami Airport. Because who
loves to drive and who loves to park at the
Miami said no one? So yeah, you can start your
adventure immediately and you're in destination. Transfers from the airport
(12:48):
to the hotel are also included.
Speaker 2 (12:50):
I'm Brian mud with Deb Scully from Collect Travel and
again we want you to join us on the vacation
of a lifetime. This is coming up next November again,
November twenty twenty five. Only thirty five slots available to
join Ashley and me on this trip. You can get
information right now at WJNO dot com or call eight
(13:14):
hundred five eight one eighty nine forty two. The reference
number is one two six eight five five three. So
please join us for the Shades of Ireland trip.
Speaker 1 (13:24):
Which is not just about Ireland.
Speaker 2 (13:26):
There's an opportunity to join us in England and Scotland
as well. Tell you more about that momentarily. You know,
there are a lot of different things that we have
similar interest in. One in particular is your favorite location.
Your favorite location anywhere in the world is where Well.
Speaker 4 (13:43):
I do love Ireland, but my favorite place in the
world is Maui.
Speaker 2 (13:46):
It has my heart, Mali has your heart, also your dog.
Speaker 4 (13:50):
My dog Maui also has my Harmer.
Speaker 1 (13:53):
So funny thing you know.
Speaker 2 (13:55):
On that note, my first business was named Mallie Smoothies.
Oh God, a smoothie company that I started in Savannah, Georgia.
And the funny thing is, in the late nineties, people
ask me, why is it that you called your smoothie
company Maui Smoothies's a lot of people wondered, is there
something specific about Maui that goes on with the smoothies?
And know when I did it, it was originally designed
(14:17):
to be the first natural smoothie on the East Coast.
Speaker 1 (14:21):
And that's a whole story for a different day.
Speaker 2 (14:23):
But the reason I ended up naming the company Maui Smoothies,
headquartered in Savannah, was because everything else in the city
of Savannah was Savannah. This in Savannah that I thought
of my favorite place in the country.
Speaker 1 (14:36):
That was the furthest away from Savannah. And that's how
I ended up in Mali.
Speaker 3 (14:40):
That is so ironic, And I think we need to
talk about a Hawaii trip for twenty.
Speaker 1 (14:45):
Six there you go.
Speaker 2 (14:46):
Yeah, I never can get enough of Maui, even the
road to Hannah, the white knuckle driving that that is
again for a different trip and a different conversation.
Speaker 1 (14:54):
But yeah, all right, So as.
Speaker 2 (14:57):
We're talking about our shades of Ireland trip told us
all about the wonderful nine days we're going to experience
in Ireland. I want everybody to join us before we
get to Ireland and also to spend some time with
us in Scotland afterwards. Tell us about the opportunity to
extend in London on the front end.
Speaker 3 (15:15):
Yeah, so I always tell people, Look, you're investing a
lot of time to get over there and money, why
not extend it, you know, check a couple of other
countries off of your bucket list.
Speaker 2 (15:25):
It's exactly what our conversation was. It was the win
in Rome. We're right there. Let's go to London and
do this right. Let's go to Edinburgh and do this right.
Speaker 3 (15:36):
Yeah. I mean, if there's one thing the pandemic taught
us is that there's no time like the present right
to get out there and do these things that we
want to do. So yeah, So we are offering two
beautifully curated extensions. There is a pre tour extension and
you'll find this on a lot of our tours and
these are a great opportunity to take advantage of some
great rates when you're already over there. First one is
(15:57):
a five day, three night London pre tour extension and
this is a fully guided extension. We didn't talk about
rates on the base tour yet, but I'll just share
the rate to add this on is thirteen to ninety
nine per person double. That includes the land and air.
It includes three mails. There are three breakfasts there are included.
We are navigating the city with a local expert, so
(16:19):
we're including the Oyster.
Speaker 4 (16:21):
Card, which is the famous London Underground. The tube would
be hopping on and off that, traveling like a local.
Speaker 1 (16:27):
Oh cool. Yeah.
Speaker 3 (16:28):
We're taking a walking tour around the famous Westminster area
and you'll see a big Ben, the House of Parliament,
Westminster Abbey, Buckingham Palace, all the sites, and then a
nice stroll of course through Trafalgar Square and you'll have
some independent time there. There's just so many monuments to
see and then the rest of the day on your own.
Speaker 4 (16:49):
To explore the city.
Speaker 3 (16:50):
Absolutely wonderful time in London. We're also including a ticket
to the Tower of London, so you'd be able to
see into the city's storied pass and uncover the secrets
of the eleventh century fortress there. So yeah, I encourage
people to check that out.
Speaker 2 (17:05):
So it's everything that we would want to do that
we would come to mind when we think of London.
Speaker 4 (17:11):
Yeah, I mean you could get a lot more probably
out of London.
Speaker 3 (17:13):
But this is a great I think this gives you
a nice cross section of the history and the monuments
and getting to travel on that too.
Speaker 2 (17:20):
And something that I've always wanted to do as well
as Scotland. And I guess the whole thing with this
entire trip. So often when we've gone to Europe, we've
been in other parts of Europe and you just don't
make it. If you don't make it to these areas,
you often just don't end up in these places. And
that's why it's so important, I think, to do this
all at once. Tell us about Edinburgh in what's available
(17:44):
after Ireland with this trip.
Speaker 3 (17:47):
Yeah, so completely different vibe here, you know, very historic,
little more rural.
Speaker 4 (17:53):
Four days, three nights in Edinburgh.
Speaker 3 (17:55):
This is the post tour extension and this one is
twelve ninety nine per person that includes the land and
air inclusive rate. There are three breakfasts and one dinner
on this one and it kicks off in King's Court, Edinburgh,
so we're flying you into Edinburgh obviously the capital of
Scotland and it's just a city steeped in history, very
(18:15):
charming pubs.
Speaker 4 (18:16):
You know, you're going to get your share of pubs.
Speaker 3 (18:18):
Of course on the Ireland Tour, that's part of the culture,
but this is just a wonderful extension. You're going to
really delve into the heart of Edinburgh. You're going to
take a walking guided tour the famous Royal Mile, all
the shops.
Speaker 4 (18:33):
You're going to learn about the storied history of all
these streets and.
Speaker 3 (18:36):
Make your way to the peak of the city, which
is Edinburgh Castle.
Speaker 4 (18:39):
And inside the walls of Edinburgh Castle.
Speaker 3 (18:42):
You're going to see the medieval armor and the Scottish
crown of jewels. We have a day at the rest
of the day at leisure. That's when you're in on
day two there and then the next day you have
some more independent time. So this extension is a hosted extension.
The London is fully guided. This one is hosted, so
we are going to have local guides that will take
(19:03):
you around, but you're not going to have a tour
manager with you the entire time. But everything's pretty condensed
right there, so you're good on your own there and there's.
Speaker 1 (19:10):
So much that is congruent.
Speaker 2 (19:12):
You know, we talked about immersing ourselves in a location
and while it's you know, a few nights in both
of these locations, it is an immersive experience.
Speaker 1 (19:23):
You're making the most of the time.
Speaker 2 (19:25):
The real high points are the focus and the other
thing that's congruent. Not to break this up, there is
so much cross history between England and Ireland and Scotland
that having the experience all within a sixteen.
Speaker 1 (19:41):
Day period, you're really going to get that much more
out of it.
Speaker 2 (19:45):
The history, the connectivity of it, it'll all make I
think a lot more sense as well.
Speaker 4 (19:49):
I agree absolutely, And you know, I have to say
the more.
Speaker 3 (19:52):
I travel the world, the smaller it becomes, and the
influences from different cultures on different in different country trees
is just amazing to me, the crossover, but definitely this area.
Speaker 4 (20:03):
Yeah, So as.
Speaker 2 (20:05):
We are taking a look at, you know, the timeline here,
talked about this coming up next November, the Ireland trip
that is the gateway to the extension. So if we
do the nine day Ireland trip, we have these two
opportunities and again Ashley and I are doing both of
them and really would love for you to join us.
Speaker 1 (20:25):
In each of these locations. When you talk.
Speaker 2 (20:28):
About the entire length start to finish, we do everything
sixteen days, so just over two weeks, and that is
going to be you know, the perfect time before the
holidays to really get to enjoy ourselves. A great time
of year to be over there as well. You mentioned,
you know, you'd been there in November. A lot of
times you might worry about things being a little bit
too warm as you're around about.
Speaker 1 (20:49):
Don't have any of those concerns, you know, with this.
Speaker 4 (20:51):
Time these days, it's hard to tell.
Speaker 1 (20:53):
And this is true too.
Speaker 3 (20:55):
I try to and we do publish documents for everybody
before they go, and we'll get together with everybody and
talk about what to expect. But as soon as we publish,
you know, kind of the aggregate average of temperatures from the.
Speaker 4 (21:07):
Past five years, it's already expired by the.
Speaker 3 (21:09):
Time we printed it, so there we had, you know,
and anywhere from like fifty to seventy believe it or not.
But we always advise people whenever you're traveling anywhere, you're
going to think about layers, you know, dress in layers
and be prepared for all kinds of weather.
Speaker 2 (21:25):
So it should be you know, nice and comfortable generally
as we're being you know, out and about and seeing
what there is to see, so you know, just everything
about it again, the vacation of a lifetime. Want you
to join us. And you know, we talked at the
open a little bit about Collect, but Collect the oldest
tour company in North America and your reputation, how you
(21:48):
do things. Just tell us a little bit of culturally
about Collect and why it makes so much sense to
do this with you, and you know, and ultimately you're
going to tell us the reason why I wanted to
part with you.
Speaker 3 (22:00):
Yeah, I mean, I think it's important to know about
the company that you're you know, contracting with, and I
know you guys vetted us pretty seriously. And you know,
I like to mention that we are the oldest tour
operator in North America and we are one hundred and
seven years old. We are family owned and operated out
of Patucket, Rhode Island, which is where.
Speaker 4 (22:19):
I hail from. Originally.
Speaker 3 (22:20):
We are family owned by the Sullivan family. We don't
answer to Wall Street, which is how we were able
to during the pandemic refund over one hundred and eighty
five million dollars in cash back to travelers. No one
else did that, and you know we didn't do it
for the accolades and the awards. It's just how our
company puts travelers first. So I'm very proud to work
and represent this Brand's a lot to me because my brand.
Speaker 4 (22:43):
