Speaker 1 (00:04):
Hey, thanks for listening, and welcome back to the Brian
Mud Show. Time now for today's top three takeaways, Trump,
an eighteenth century law, dusty old thing, and taxing tourists.
My top three takeaways for you on this Wednesday. My
top takeaway is using an eighteenth century law, using an

(00:28):
eighteenth cent man an eighteenth century So, huh, what good
came into anything in the eighteenth century, is what I'm saying.
You know what I mean? What what's so funny, Joel?

Speaker 2 (00:39):
I mean, what good I think seventeen seventy six would
have been in the eighteenth century? Huh? I think this
country would have been a good thing. Although I'll come on,
he would probably disagree.

Speaker 1 (00:51):
Come on, tell me that King George wasn't better than
Donald Trump.

Speaker 2 (00:53):
Well, I can't tell you that, Brian, but I'm sure
we could find plenty of people that. Yeah, obviously we're
not around in those days, but we'll tell you that
he was.

Speaker 1 (01:04):
So how long does a law have to be in
place before it is no longer matter? How long you
should the law be in placed before, like, screw those things.
What's the particular time frame before it's inherently outdated? Is
it twenty years forty.

Speaker 2 (01:26):
I take I take fifty five.

Speaker 1 (01:27):
I'm fifty.

Speaker 2 (01:28):
If if it makes it anywhere near my age, I
think it's done okay, and it's had enough nothing to.

Speaker 1 (01:32):
Betresligible for like senior discounts. Yes, got it, I don't wait.
Am I eligible for some senior at fifty five? You
can start getting cash in that way in a lot
of places. Yeah, I'm gonna start to start thinking that way.

Speaker 2 (01:45):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (01:46):
Yeah, this fifty five and older community sitting to save
housing causeway too. So yeah, I mean, look, I think
kind of to your point here, Joel, who wouldn't want
to remodel a home after more than fifty years?

Speaker 2 (01:57):
Right?

Speaker 1 (01:58):
So if it's longer than we would go without a
home remodel, surely the law is irrelevant. Got to be
the standard. And by that standard, obviously any law from
way back when not meant to mean anything. Right now.
The reason I've started my takeaways this way is due
to the insulting of our collective intelligence that's been taking

(02:23):
place with the typical news reporting of President Trump's use
of the Alien Enemies Act. As you're likely aware, two
weekends ago, President Trump and Vogue to the Alien Enemies
Act of seventeen ninety eight to deport Trendy I Raguan
terrorists outside of the United States without a legal process
taking place. He was sued by the ACLU, which now

(02:45):
legally fights for the quote unquote rights of illegal immigrant
terrorist organizations over you think about this, the ACLU now
fights for illegal immigrant terrorist organizations harder than they would
fight for you. In fact, they actually will fight for
them to be in your communities, which is even more fascinating.

(03:05):
And you had a sympathetic Obama appointed judge who has
tried to stop Trump from doing what he was elected
to do. Anyway, as we're waiting to hear what the
result will be of an appeal the Trump team has
made to the DC Appellate Court, it is clear what
the narrative from your godless soul since Lender's news media
has positioned this to be. I've now lost track of

(03:28):
the number of times I've heard of President Trump's use
of an eighteenth century law. You no doubt have come
across this too. You don't even have to have paid
much attention to it to have come across it. Is
like the rule you are not allowed to report on

(03:49):
the developments of this story without citing Trump's use of
an eighteenth century law see yesterday. At a point where
my sensibilities have been sufficiently insulted, I'm like, you know what,
these people just continue to second life. I did a

(04:09):
generic Google search, and by these people, I'm talking about
so called journals. I did a generic Google search, not
of anything to do with Trump. Just an eighteenth century law. Okay,
I want to start there. Just an eighteenth century law.
Nothing about Trump, nothing about illegal immigrant terrorist. If you

(04:30):
search on Google for an eighteenth century law, here's what
you'll come up with. Google First, Google's AI. You know,
that's at the top now, and it said this. One
example of an eighteenth century law is the Alien Enemies
Act of seventeen ninety eight. Imagine that, which grants the
president broad authority to control or remove non citizens during

(04:53):
wartime and has been invoked recently in a controversial context.

Speaker 2 (04:58):
Well, that AI is being manipulated at all. I just
pulled it up because I wanted to see, you know, yeah,
if it maybe you get a different response at different
times or something. I don't know how it works, but no,
same exact thing.

Speaker 1 (05:10):
Yeah, there you go. And then the actual search results
under that and in order, I got these headlines. Trump
invokes eighteenth century law to target violent illegal migrant street gangs, which,
by the way, I appreciate it as being the best
of the bunch, because while we still have to get

(05:32):
past the eighteenth century law narrative, at least they mentioned
violent illegal migrant street gangs. That's something. It's better than
the rest of them because next one, Trump ignored judge's
order and vokes eighteenth century law to speed deportations. Next story,
Trump invokes eighteenth century law to speed deportations. Judge talls

(05:53):
eight hours later the next story, US supports hundreds of
Venezuelans under eighteenth century law. Next story. Now I like
that one, especially because hundreds of Venezuelans, not gang members,
not terrorists, just Venezuelans. Went round ups in Venezuelans used
in eighteenth century loss to people. Next one, Trump attempts

(06:17):
to use eighteenth century law to allow FEDS to enter
homes without a warrant. Oh that last one, really, now right,
that's what this is. I mean that one. You don't
even have Venezuelans. It's just Trump's trying to use an
eighteenth century a lot of get in your home. These

(06:37):
people have no conscience, they really know. I am so
glad we have been said straight. Anyway, I could continue,
but I think you get the idea. And when I
say I could continue, I mean I literally could do
nothing about this for the next week and I wouldn't
get through it all. Why when I actually did a

(06:59):
search for Trump's use of an eighteenth century law yesterday
in the past week and a half, I found that
over one hundred and twenty seven thousand news reports have
been filed with some incarnation of Trump's use of an

(07:21):
eighteenth century law. One hundred and twenty seven thousand. So
this takes me to my second takeaway today. The left
has learned nothing. They've learned absolutely nothing. Now obviously just
about every so called journal just I'm a journalist and
so I think for myself here I do real real work.
And they obviously all arrived at the same time in

(07:44):
an eighteenth century law as the narrator. Uh huh uh huh.
So anyway, it's obviously the media's crammed down. The media's objective.
The GSS media to try to sway public opinion by
saying Donald Trump had no right to use the just
so old we shouldn't use the laws that are old, right,

(08:06):
or something to that fa. I mean, that's obviously what
they're trying to drive home at. It's an eighteen centry law.
And here's what gets me. You know, it's older than
the Alien Enemies Act that is still in use every
day and in just about every way in this country.
That old tired, dingy, dusty eugh thing we call a constitution. Man,

(08:34):
that's even older. We really should get rid of that thing, right,
because I suppose if the Alien Enemies Act is too
old to use, you got to scrap that constitution thing too.
And actually, sadly, for many in the GSS media, that
is absolutely something they would love to do. They've been
trying to exact that outcome for a while. Anyway, you

(08:54):
get the point here. And while we're on the subject
of old texts that are just just to clearly importance,
maybe a good idea to add here too. You got
this old thing. I came across it, Joel, and you
might be able to help me with the pronunciation here. Yeah,
what what is this old thing has to do? It?
For your religion? Yeah?

Speaker 2 (09:11):
I believe it's believe it's pronounced bibbil. You know, I'll
go Bibbyl. Yeah, I'll go to spelling. It looks like
it could be bibble. I'll go to a hotel. First
thing I do is I open up one of the
drawers to see if there's uh, you know, Gideon's Bibbel
in there. And I don't find it often anymore, but yeah,
I think it's bibel Bibul.

Speaker 1 (09:32):
So, yeah, the the the Bibbyl is just a little
older than this country, right, thing's been around for a while. Huh.
You know what, Actually, the Bible would be an especially
a good thing for those in the news media to read.
I wonder how many actually have. Meanwhile, you know what's

(09:53):
going on. Trump continues to enjoy his highest approval ratings
on the issue of immigration, and you know, well, what's
actually happened on Trump's immigration ratings other higher today than
they were when this story broke a couple of weekends ago.
Because as they're continuing to try to play this same
tired game where literally the narrative of the media is

(10:17):
that they want a terrorist, an illegal immigrant terrorist organization
to stay in your community. This is what they're going for.
This is what the ACLU, this is what your media
is going for they want a terrorist Venezuelan organization to
operate in your community. They we shouldn't let them leave
this country. They need to be right here with us. Meanwhile,

(10:40):
the average person is going great, Trump's doing something else.
He said he's going to do get rid of these people.
That's what the average person sees. So yeah, it's becoming
even more popular at this Their takeaway today, tax the tourists,
you know on the hottest topics and biggest debates taking
place surrounding Florida state legislative session whether property taxes should
day or whether they should go. And as we've extensively

(11:03):
discussed on the show, there are many steps that would
have to come together before a plan to endto property
taxes could come together. First, the legislature would have to
pass a law to authorize the study. Next, the legislature
would have to use the study to put together a
proposed amendment that they would then have to pass the
next year's state legislative session. And then, even if all
that came together, over sixty percent of voters would have

(11:26):
to vote to put an end to property taxes on
the November midterm election ballot next year. So while debates
are continuing to take place from communities and PBC the
legislators in Tallahassee. One of the biggest questions is where
funds for local communities would come from, and as my
analysis showed, nearly doubling the sales tax would do the trick.
Of course, local governments living within their means as opposed

(11:49):
to spending every dollar that they see that'd be helpful too,
But anyway. On Tuesday, Governor De Santis added his thoughts
for who could help put the bill when he said,
if you're going to tax, I don't want you taxing
Florida residents, property tax, the tourists, tax some of the foreigners,
you know the way that what he means they're taxed

(12:11):
some of them. It's like, you don't look like you're
from around here. I think I'll tax you just some
of them, you know, not these Antis went on to
say that communities have the ability, in some of these
areas that draw a lot of people, to shift the
tax burden away from your own people to people that
are not residents of Florida. The governor also added that

(12:33):
additional considerations would need to be paid to communities they
don't benefit from the tourist trade, but nevertheless, Desantas is
effectively pushing for greater fiscal responsibility at the local level
and a tourist tax here for property taxes. Is that
a trade that you'd be willing to make,
