Speaker 1 (00:00):
The Brian Mojo Podcast is driven by Brayman Motor Cars.
My family is a Brayman Motor Cars family. Your family
should be to visit Braymanmotorcars dot com. Your new day
starts with the Brian Mudshow, the news you need to
start your morning in the Palm Beaches and the Treasure Coast. Yes,
(00:21):
we are going to take a look at ter registration
changes for key Florida counties as we dive in to
what's been changing within our state. And one of the
big changes was reflected in this recent exchange. During a
House hearing on sanctuary cities. You had New York Governor
Kathy Hookele in a exchange with Florida Congressman and gubernatorial
(00:47):
candidate Byron Donald's when I.
Speaker 2 (00:49):
Leave here, I'm going to go home and govern a state.
I'm not going to tweet about this experience because I
have too much work to do taking care of New Yorkers.
You're really not doing a good job, Governor Hockle, because
a lot of New Yorkers are actually coming into my state.
Speaker 1 (01:00):
Sure enough. They've been fleeing to the Free State of
Florida for quite some time now, and far more often
than not. The Republicans that are left in New York
are the ones that have been coming here. And in
a matter of four years, Florida has gone from being
viewed as an ultimate swing state to a red state,
and a red state that, as I brought you last week,
is now basically a ten point advantage for Republicans. It
(01:22):
was nine point seven, to be exact, most recently, with
Republicans surging to a record one point three million voter
advantage over Democrats entering June. And this storyline, as I've
highlighted in recent years, has not necessarily been Florida's red
counties becoming redder, but it had been Florida's blue counties
(01:44):
becoming progressively less blue and more recently outright flipping two
Republican majority counties, including two of the three largest counties
in the state of Florida for the first time ever
becoming Republican and Jordy Counties within this year. Already there's
(02:05):
Hillsboro and then Miami Dad. And so as we take
a look at some of the key counties, we'll start
in Palm Beach County. Now, the absolute peak of the
Democrat advantage in the Palm Beach is Democrats held an
advantage of one hundred and thirty eight thousand, four hundred voters.
As of yesterday, that advantage was down to thirty one thousand,
(02:25):
seven hundred and fifty three. Republicans netted nine hundred and
fourteen voters of Democrats over the past month. In Duval,
another one to watch always has been a blue county.
This is where Jacksonville is. Democrats continue to lead Republicans,
(02:46):
but now only by ten thousand, one hundred voters, as
Republicans netted eighty voters there of the past month. Mentioned Hillsborough.
The Hillsborough had flipped to a Republican majority in February
for the first I'm in that county's history. It's where
Tampa is. You have Republicans that have a lead of
a sixteen thousand, six hundred voters there now. In Indian
(03:08):
River County, Republicans netted another one hundred and fifty three
voters over the past month. Very red county Martin County.
Democrats actually netted thirty five voters in Martin over the
past month, but Republicans continue to hold a massive edge
of over thirty seven four hundred voters, which is especially
in large given the size of the county, Miami Dade
(03:28):
obviously the big storyline over the past month, but even
within big storylines, it was a massive storyline. And let
me explain, so Republicans didn't just flip dad over the
past month. Republicans in one month in one county netted
fifty two thousand, one hundred and eighty four voters there.
Speaker 2 (03:48):
That is incredible. It's almost like, are you sure sure
that's the right number.
Speaker 1 (03:55):
The entire Republican gain in the state was nearly sixty
thousand voters. Over fifty two thousand of that came in
Miami Dade alone, as.
Speaker 2 (04:03):
I wonder what goes on there.
Speaker 1 (04:05):
Well, a lot of reconciling the veterals took place last month,
and obviously when they reconcile there to go like, I'm like, wow,
a lot of Democrats are gone here. The Republican advantage
of Miami Dade thirty four two hundred voters pretty remarkable.
And Oziela another one to watch where Democrats ended up
losing over six thousand voters two Republicans last month. Ozila
(04:29):
is now down to a Democrat advantage to just twelve
eight hundred. So I mean we continue to see these
trends play, and there's a very good chance that even
the majority, and there are only eight blue counties left
in the state, there's a chance that even most of
those won't be off these trends hold by the midterm
election day next year.
Speaker 2 (04:48):
All right, well, Florida lawmakers, we have a budget. They
finally passed one late last night, one hundred and fifteen
point one billion dollars spending plan for the fiscal year
beginning July first. It'll now head to the Governor's desk,
and the budget about three and a half billion lower
than the current spending plan. And the Florida Panthers have
a chance to clinch their second straight Stanley Cup. They
(05:09):
square off against the Oilers for Games six tonight from Sunrise.
Cats have a three games to two lead in the series.
If Game seven is necessary, it would be Friday in Edmonton.
